Very late to the conversation abt s4, but as a Noir girlie, I feel like this must be said 😤

I did NOT like how there was little to no substantial development surrounding Noir this season. Instead, they reduced my mans into a comic relief character, which don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy sometimes, but don’t we already…. cough cough have the deep for that? cough

Like they could’ve done something so much more impactful with the og Noir, but noooOOO kripke just HAD to kill him off, and for what? Just for a few little scattered jokes here and there? Meanwhile this entire season has been an absolute uncoordinated mess???? ((Ik Kripke was planning to kill off Noir since the very beginning, but WHY?? 😭

I can see where they might be heading with a potential showdown between Noir II and Soldier Boy in S5, maybe mirroring the disfigurement of the og Noir or sth? But the way they've been building up to that so far just doesn't feel very compelling or efficient to me personally. it just feels they’ll land another lame “haha” moment for the audience and call it a day when it comes to that point

Impactful story arc? Nope- thrown straight outta the window

and yes I know Noir wasn’t even a primary character to the storyline in the first place, so it’s not like the end of the world or anything. Just take this as a nonsensical rant from a bitter Noir stan 🤠

I watched Suncoast and I need to talk about it.

There's barely any buzz on the website so.

Spoilers ahead❗️❗️❗️

First off...cinematic. the shots, the filming, majority of the film conveys what it needs to.

Something that struck me was the dialogues. With the friend group at school it's so shallow. They decide what to wear, what to drink, what to smoke. They that don't have life altering consequences. Whereas Dorris, everything she does or says is something bigger and that's why nobody will understand her. They haven't been through that pain. Like Nate talking about his parrot... she could have a conversation about life and death and he talks about ....his parrot. I love how mildly supportive they are especially for prom or for reaching her back when needed.

Paul can have these more mature conversations with Doris because they both have the pain of losing someone. Everything about their conversation and relation in the movie is spot on, the little inside jokes, the talk about grief and mostly the debate.

I like how the story of the activists is there, it supports the main storyline of Doris but it also doesn't take away or directly interact with Doris.

The mother daughter dynamic is something they've nailed again. How she faces away from Doris when she's disappointed with her and towards her while brushing her teeth when she wants to win her daughter back. The thought process between both of them. It's very real. It's heart wrenching but it's real.

The ending doesn't give me enough closure but I've to learn to process it.

As someone who has dealt with loss, taking care of a loved one and having a sort of delusional mother. This movie hit me in different ways. It had me crying, smiling and overall the story was well done. Acting was a plus too.

I hope Suncoast gets the recognition it deserves.

One of the biggest letdowns in the world is when you order a pack of 10 pepper varieties (seeds) from Amazon and only receive five total of the 10 you paid for, only two are what you ordered, and the other three are mystery???

I have finally conceded that gremlins have eaten my kindle voyage and I do, in fact, need to replace it. It's been more than year of waiting for it to "turn up" interspersed with frantic episodes of looking. It's not happening! It's in the negaverse now.

WHY IS THE EREADER MARKET SO FUCKING TERRIBLE??? ALL I WANT IS A REASONABLY PRICED SMALL-ISH EREADER WITH DEDICATED PAGE TURN BUTTONS.

That's all! I don't need to be able to write on it! I don't need it to play videos! I don't need a big screen! I don't want to pay $200+ dollars. I just want to be able to read long fanfic on an e-ink screen again.

S1E7: “Let Down Your Hair”—A (Watched 2/24/24)

“We’re not cops! We own a doggie wash!”

This one hooked me immediately and just got better from there: It starts with an obvious, goofy, classically amorous Cold Open Couple in the woods who get accosted by a violent weed-grower when they stumble onto his turf, but then that guy goes to investigate a noise and gets lassoed (and killed) by some very long, very thick hair. The physicality of the titular “hair” comes as such an arresting novelty after so many episodes of just facial transformations denoting monstrousness/fairy tale creature status.

There are also some very fun and interesting bits and pieces of world- building and deepening here—like Monroe casually establishing that the Santa Claus of the Grimm universe is actually a Wesen. Beyond that pleasing tid-bit, he also talks Blutbad childhood, socialization, and maturation, giving us some insight into what it’s like to be born and grow up as something more than human. The fact that this episode is about Blutbaden again, but with this feral long-missing child twist, rather than introducing another new, conveniently Rapunzel-like creature is great since, as I said, it “deepens” rather than “broadens” the established universe. The pattern of each episode introducing a new creature for Nick to read about and Monroe to explain casual-like was getting a bit bland.

The hair as a weapon, trees/a treehouse in place of a conventional tower, a lost rather than imprisoned girl—It’s a satisfying-enough adaptation of iconic Rapunzel elements. And there’s also something about this particular story of finding and struggling to communicate with this nearly nonverbal girl, protecting her from dangerous humans, and ultimately bringing her back to her mother after she was initially taken into the woods years ago by a neighbor that just feels more fairy-tale-like in its own right than any of the previous plots. The way that it kind of side-steps the exact nature of Jimmy Addison’s intentions for the extremely young Holly Clark also just feels much better than similar material in “Lonelyhearts.” It’s a grim (ha…) take, but it preserves enough of the whimsy and structure of a fairy tale to just feel Right.

While this is a very busy episode—to the point that half of the initial couple in danger is still technically left tied up in a basement somewhere, after being abducted by the grower’s brothers, when the story is over—it still has room for some great moments for characters other than Nick. Both Monroe and Hank get to have their time as characters in their own right: Hank as he returns to this emotional missing person case that he was unable to solve before, and Monroe as he tries to be a mentor, if not father figure, to a confused Blutbad child who can’t even speak, much less understand what she is. Hank in particular benefits here, as the character gets to go deeper than the joke-making sidekick for what feels like the first time, to me.

On a lighter note: The refrigerator repairman from “Danse Macabre” and his buddies spying on Nick because they can’t believe Grimms are actually real is extremely cute. I love how Nick is treated like the fantastical creature here from their perspective.

I've ordered chenille yarn and now I have trust issues, because it's written on the paper that it's worked with an 8mm hook but it's the same size as the other chenille I buy in the store that says 5mm hook and yeah it looks perfect with the 5mm. Is the other chenille on Amazon workable with a 5???? Because in that case I have an endless amount of options???

Ok yes I finally gave in to the urge to buy some new workout sets, BUT I resisted long enough to avoid the fast fashion impulse buys and took the time to find a sustainable and size-inclusive brand that I’m happy to support.
