Now mildly freaking out bc the accountant we used decided my partner and I were married even though we told them it was a common law cost for filing and now the CRA thinks I’m married and wants me to update the date except we’re not married and not common law by the laws of our province and idk what to do…

we're trying REALLY hard not to be any kinda spiteful at a couple of our friends whove been givin us and our dm (my partner system) grief for a long time, bc the shit thats making them no show right now are legit things they cant help and also really insanely important and stressful, but im sittin here like. goddamn they better start trying to show up after this. they better stop and listen to us and stop having fuckin npd tantrums when my partner (OUR DM) asks them to revise something about their character and corresponding npc. they better actually start workin on themselves cause im sittin here with my npd-having ass whos been working my and my system's asses off to improve and treat ourselves better without ANY professional help and theyre- idk. its disquieting listening to them joke and giggle about 'being narcissistic/toxic' when they just...dont do anything about it after that. when i KNOW they can do better. weve all gone through hell together so i mean really, what the fuck is this
and im upset cause i think my partner is gonna be really alone for their birthday again this year bc some big plans fell the fuck through. idk i just feel vaguely sick about it all. id like to not deal with cluster b bullshit for once this week. and id like for other ppl in my system to stop feeling like manipulative monsters just bc they did the terrible act of...........reaching out to our loved ones to help them. like okay yeah we might not always say the right thing but like, we're people. legit no one can always say the right thing. not even therapists who are trained and paid to say the right thing. like jesus guys give yourselves a fuckin break
weve got that job interview tomorrow and yeah were nervous about it, but mostly just kinda excited to do this new big adult thing. the thing were actually nervous about is so fuckin dumb. were nervous about not being able to spend as much time with our partner as before. but i mean. 12 years of long distance with a lot of stress and fear and tbh trauma about trying desperately to live together during those 12 years. yeah im not surprised we have some separation anxiety

Nekoma!Manager!Male!Reader
a/n: never written male reader before but this was a funny request and i really do see the irony in this
anon request:
absolutely LOVED your seijoh hcs! you said you wanted to do the other schools so i thought, how about nekoma but with a MALE manager bc it would be so ironic to have a male god as their manager rather than a goddess that they always talked about!! thank youuuuuuu!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
yall the nekoma fanchant is literally stuck in my head
hehe uwu lets step on the pedal
ong jesus take the wheel pls
so basically,,,
being the nekoma manager is a MESS
lets say youre a second year and was only the manager bc you were begged into taking the job
like wouldnt leave you alone and pestered you 25/8, screaming about needing their own god manager
also just because, you are fairly popular and you have your own fanclub of girls in nekoma and they thought it would give them more exposure and more chances w girls :’)
tora was actually the first who came up to you and begged you to be their manager during class one day bc they are in need of one but they arent allowed to have a girl manager so he turned to having a handsome male
‘I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IT HAS TO BE A BOY’
‘so you wont be all over him abd be distracted w showing off’
‘WHO ARE YOU TO QUESTION MY SE-’
‘tora, please’
initially, you refused bc you just couldnt be bothered to be part of a club where you basically babysit a bunch of overgrown children
but kenma, your childhood friend, was the team’s last attempt to get you in since kuroo mentioned that he was the only one you listened to
‘kenma, babie, i love you, but i am your friend, not your nanny. so unless i am paid, i will not waste my time taking care of of all of you. especially that chicken head’
‘y/n, yaku is on his last leg here. we really need a manager and we need it fast’
‘you went for years without one so why do you need it?’
‘we’re scared that nekomata would just drop dead any minute now’
‘yanno? im surprised hes even still alive with yall’
‘....... ill show your fangirls that picture of you when we were 5 when-’
‘okay, kenma. rude about the blackmail but okay. dont expect me to be the maid or anything’
nope, you were actually the maid
and the cook
and the nanny
and the laundry person
the everything
it baffles you that kuroo is about to graduate next year yet he still doesnt know the difference between fabric softener and detergent
the amount of times you sent him to pick up more and only to send him back when he ended up buying 2 softeners or 2 detergents
‘they all look the same!’
‘kuroo tetsuro cAN yOu NoT rEAd?!’
ngl i still mix them up sometimes
during matches, youre basically their mother, their nanny, and nekomata’s notetaker, and their personal cheerleader
naoi, the other coach guy, and coach nekomata has adopted you as a son bc of how hard you work and the less the burden is on them
like your notes about their playing percentages really works and helps them and added with the chores you do for the team?
godsend
also, lets put your popularity in here
you dress with a white shirt and zip up your red nekoma jacket with your red sweatpants so you look like one of the players, right?
but how come every time they have practice, youre the only one with the fangirls in the bleachers?
youre literally wearing the same thing as them yet youre the only one who gets looked at?!
even kuroo, who was quite good looking, doesnt have that many girls pining after him yet you, resident anti-tryhard, seems to get the female population to fall for you just by doing the simplest things like breathing
youd be doing normal things like using your whistle as you hold a clipboard and girls would be screeching at you
‘omg m/n is so hot!’
‘hes just !!!! uuggghhhh’
‘siri how to be a whistle?’
i am uncomfortable with the energy we have created in the gym today
tora complains about it all the time bc first, they cant have a beautiful manager, two, they have a pretty boy who’s taking the attention away
‘SO NOT FAIR! M/N, TURN UGLY!’
you bonk him on the head in anger and threaten to quit all the time
‘say that again and you’ll be filling your own water bottles tomorrow’
but in truth though, the guys really do appreciate you and everything you do
they know that you balance them with your personal life and classes and still make time to do their laundry and make them food
so they have started easing off the burden and weight off of your shoulders
at first, you were very suspicious when they told you that they already filled their water bottles
‘huh? i didnt think you even knew where the water fountain was’
‘wym weve been doing this for years’
-kuroo
then, you heard kuroo tell the others to put their sweaty jerseys in the basket in the corner of the room and for the last person to carry it to the laundromat
‘um, sir, we dont want to have another pink jersey disaster again’
you stopped inuoka from lugging the basket but he shook his head and gave you a wide grin
‘nope, m/n-senpai! i’ll carry it for you! i’m strong, see?’
he flexed his right arm muscle while holding the basket with one hand but it was too heavy so it fell to the ground, spilling out all the practice jerseys
you sighed before bending down to pick them up and babie inuoka’s eyes watered, thinking you were mad at him
‘gomen, senpai’
he whispered but you looked up at him from your position
his watery eyes made you frantically stand up and wipe his tears with the pads of your thumbs
‘inu-kun, why are you crying? you said you were strong right? dont cry over silly things, okay?’
he nodded and you were still confused as to why he was so emotional but you patted his fluffy hair
‘now cmon, lets go take these to the shop’
unbeknownst to you, the team was actually seething from behind the wall
naturally, as a,,, manager,, you became their,,, energy??
like the slightest affections from you made their health bar increase tenfold and they didnt necessarily have any intentions towards you
you were like,,, their own,,,, happy drug?? like a human seratonin??
just the fact that they had someone like you to fall back on and give them love when they lost or something
it was comforting
usually it was just the team’s responsibility to throw away their own sadness and comfort each other
but with you,,,
they could easily cry with no fear and you would comfort them until they didnt need to be comforted anymore
eventually, they ended up straight out competing against each other on who would get the most affection
clearly, inuoka used his first year card and everyone knew you were soft for your kouhais
like you would just grab them and hug them because of how cute they were
uwu especially lev?!
he may be a giant but hes just a really REALLY REALLY BIG CAT
;)
LEV LIVES TO HUG YOU
like the mans is beanstalk level of height and despite the age difference, he just picks you up and cuddles you and youre just like ‘okay, let it out babie’
DKSFJSLD ANYWAYS
you are always a hot topic w all the students in nekoma and even some in other schools
like during training camp, bro you making everyone question their sexuality
omg akaashi and you are probably the prettiest people there and can i just say how everyone cant focus on a practice match bc youd be laughing together or something and they havent heard anything so beautiful??
and the kitties get really defensive over you and hiss at anyone who even tries to approach you
hiss hiss
DKJFSLKDFJDWHAT IF EVERYONE IN THE TEAM IS BI
OMG WHAT
like the little touches from you make them so red and confident gays like kuroo and bokuto call you out on them and tease you
while the quiet ones like akaashi and kenma are just blushing and stutter and you tease them instead?
*inhale* BOI *exhale*
the uke and seme dynamic is real on this one
however, there are times when the turned tables
there was that one day that you were seriously questioning if bokuto wore leggings or just really high knee pads and you cornered him after baths to just figure it out
like our poor confident boi turned to a shy babie and shrunk against the wall, covering his red face
‘y-y/n-kun’
‘bo-san, i just want to know’
DKFSJLKDFJFJSDKIM DYING OVER HERE LIKE PLEASE I DONT OWN Y/N
after seeing the smidge of skin at the top of the kneepad, you nodded and brushed your fingertips over the flesh
‘hmm~ so i was right~’
FROM THEN ON POOR BABIE OWL COULDNT LOOK AT YOU THE SAME!!!!!!
it worried everyone so much when bokuto would glance at you in the sidelines and he would competely miss akaashi’s set bc his eyes would focus on you rather than the ball
like he absolutely couldnt take his eyes off of you and when you do turn to meet his eyes, he shrinks back and looks away, completely missing your amused smirk
now, your kitties werent happy about that
theyre very protective of you and they felt that this owl could snatch you right up and fly away
and kuroo, being the captain and the head of the familia, took it upon himself and dragged you to the back of the gym while the others were practicing
kurat pushed you against the wall and basically kabedonned you
KUROO IS LIKE 6′2 OR 190 CM I CANT
‘you seem close with bokuto, l/n. almost, too,, close’
an amused smirk etched itself on your lips and you pressed a hand on his chest
‘oya~? captain-san, am i being punished?’
SFDKLFSJKLDFJL SIR Y/N IS SUPPOSED TO RADIATE SEME ENERGY BUT HE ISNT AND I CANNOT-
ofc he was taken aback by your flirty attitude but he smirked and softly brushed away your bangs that slightly covered your eyes
‘hmm~~ depends, y/n-kun. are you going to be a good kitty and stay with the clowder? or are you going to stay with those pesky chickens~?’
DKFLSJDKFJSL BRO DID YOU KNOW A GROUP OF CATS IS CALLED A CLOWDER?! I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT BUT I HAVE A FEELING KUROO WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT BC HE BIG BRAIN
you chuckled and gently wrapped your arms around his shoulders
but your hand grabbed the hair at the back of his head and harshly pulled him to be closer to you
your eyes blinked innocently but your sharp teeth were shown from your malicious grin
‘ive always been a bad kitty, captain. so i dont care what you say because you cant tell me what to do~’
👀👀👀👀
imagine what happens next bc i cant write something unholy
anyways
so you learned that tetsu CAN in fact tell you what to do and you avoided everyone else which caused them to wonder but one look at your neck
well,,,,,
you got attacked by a cat
a cat named tetsu
SKDFLJSDKFJSLKUROO IS THE ONLY SEME YOU CLASH WITH
THE OTHERS ARE ALL UKE
EVEN BEEFY BUFF CAKE BOI BO
but you toned it down to not be attacked again
ngl the whole team was all jealous and they even whined to kuroo about it
‘thats not fair!!!!’
‘stop abusing your role as captain!!!!’
they hated the fact that kuroo got you first so they all rally over to keep you away from him
like baby kenma would nudge you over and bring him to sit next to you, saying he needs you to help him with a certain level
‘kenny, im not sure how to play this game’
‘hmm,,,, youre a quick learner, y/n, and youre really quick with your fingers so you could pass to the next level’
*insert lenny face*
‘oya? and you would know how, kenny?’
and baby kenny would fluster a little before glomping to your side and burying his face into your shoulder to hide away
OR
the first years would absolutely use their kouhai priviledges and bring you over to help them with ‘homework’
‘you guys realize i passed because kuroo would beat me into studying right?’
‘but senpai! you mustve learned a thing or two in your classes!’
‘bold of you to assume i was even awake in my classes’
but they still make you spend hours trying to help them which turn into just messing around
KSDLFJSDKFJD MOVIE NIGHTS YOU GUYS THATS IT!!
there isnt really a single calm moment in your guys’ practice
poor you have already started seeing lot of gray hairs
you literally decline every single confession just because youre too busy for a date and you cant handle having to take care of another person
its like youre dating the whole team!!
soon the entire school have just accepted the fact that you are just simply not in the market anymore just because you joined the club
not because youre actually taken by a girlfriend but youre taken by a bunch of teenage males
imagine how that works out
anyways
youre not really the best volleyball player out there but you know a thing or two
well,,, its more like your stamina doesnt allow you to play long bc a single lap literally destroys your lungs
but you still know when yaku complains about having a shaky receive
‘oh, momo-senpai, youre bending your knees too low so gravity is pushing down on your-’
ugh chemistry i hate it
despite your lack of athletic or physical skills, they still appreciate you for your keen eyes, your caring nature, and your overall looks that give them motivation to play harder to impress you personality :)
all the boys love you
and tbh
you love your boys too
even though it was a blackmail caused event,
you still would’ve joined otherwise
this is kinda short but its going to be longer if i find some plots or somebody asks for a plotline that i can write about for a long time
anyways
byeeeee :)))))
a/n: this isnt exactly the best manager one ive written but ill probably find a good prompt for this or again as stated ^^ someone sends in an ask for it and ill write a story for our favorite male manager :’D

party planning committee marcus moreno x reader
+++++++++
this is a story in four parts, youll see what i mean when you read it but i wasnt exactly sure how i wanted to do this at first and thats just sort of what i landed on. but i think it kind of works.
He asks for your help to plan missy's birthday party since he still really has no idea how to do the whole girl party thing
Song: island in the sun by weezer
tag list: @cynic-spirit
+++++++++
i moved to knock on the door when i heard a loud crashing sound, startling me. i knocked quickly and loudly after that, waiting for a moment before opening the door.
"marcus?!"
i yelled, looking around the living room.
"missy?"
i asked, stepping further into the house. when i made it to the kitchen i sighed in relief, my hand going to my chest as i saw marcus stood over the sink with a mixing bowl in his hand, a few other stainless steel appliances strewn about.
"marcus?"
i asked lightly and he jumped, looking to me and breathing deeply.
"jesus y/n, you scared me."
he said shaking his head. i walked closer to the counter.
"i knocked but i heard a loud noise and got worried. im just glad to see youre not hurt."
i stated, turning one of the bowls upright. he shook his head.
"well my pride is a little hurt but im glad youre looking out for me."
he said, looking from me to the paper sat on the counter. i furrowed my brows, looking over the island to see what it was. i laughed when i realized he was trying to make a cake.
"marcus what are you doing?"
i asked, picking it up and shaking the flower off of it. he sent me a bashful smile.
"well, i was trying to make a cake for missy's birthday but i guess that ship sailed a while ago."
he said, looking around to the mess he had worked so hard on. i shook my head, waving my hand in the air and everything picking itself back upright, the empty bowls stacking together and the powders on the counter making their way into a pile.
"here, let me help."
°°°°°°°°°
"Okay, now that the cake is done, what else did you need help with?"
I asked, wiping my hands on the kitchen towel and looking to him expectantly. He sighed.
"All of it actually."
He said, shaking his head and walking to the table. I raised a brow and followed him.
"Marcus you make it sound like you've never had a birthday party for missy before."
I said with a laugh and he sent me a look, turning his datapad on.
"I know but I never did any of this, it was always her mom. And last year be both just agreed on no party, just take time to be together instead."
I nodded as I sat beside him.
"I know how much you both miss her, hell I find myself missing her sometimes too. She really was the best part of the team, even without powers."
I lamented, looking to my hands now folded in front of me on the table.
"I just wish things were easier."
He said and I nodded in agreement.
"I'm sure they'll get there, one day at a time. But you gotta work at it, like today. You've already successfully made a cake."
I pointed out and he laughed.
"Yeah, and without your help that probably would've ended very badly."
I laughed too, shaking my head.
"Baking really isn't for everyone."
I said and he side nodded, opening a planning sheet in his tablet.
"You can say that again."
He mumbled, turning it to show me.
"This is what I have so far, and everything she wanted."
He said and I nodded, reading through it.
"This is her twelfth birthday, and she's finally made more friends, thanks to the heroics program. I just want this to be a special one for her."
He said and I sent him a small smile.
"So, did she give you this invite list, or did you make it yourself?"
I asked and he looked at me funny.
"Both?"
He asked and I laughed a little bit.
"Okay, that's good, I guess. Cause it's her party so you want to make sure you're inviting people she likes to talk to and hang out with."
He nodded in understanding.
"Right. I did run it by her but i sent the cards out already, time wasnt really on my side for this one."
He said bashfully and I nodded once.
"thats Okay, it looks like you at least have a theme done. That's good. List of essentials. Oh okay. now let's look at what you have planned."
I scrolled down and stopped, sending him a look. So far he just had 'sleepover?' he let out a nervous laugh, scratching the back of his neck.
"A sleepover?"
I asked and he shrugged, slouching a little defeated.
"Yeah I don't know. It just seemed like a good idea. She used to have them all the time. But again, I never really did any of that stuff."
I nodded, tapping the screen and deleting his idea.
"Here, how about this: a pool party. I know you're a master of the grill, you could invite all the heroic kids and their parents over and have a barbeque. The kids can swim. It'll be a good time."
I suggested and he nodded, a wide smile on his face.
"That actually sounds like a really good idea y/n."
He said and I sent him a knowing smile.
"we can run that by missy too, just to make sure, we only have a few days after all and we need time to notify the guests that weve changed things."
°°°°°°°°°
when the big day finally came i was awoken from my spot on the couch to missy jumping down the stairs excitedly, a wide smile across her face as she dug in the fridge for something for breakfast. i had spent the night to help marcus decorate and was definitely regretting staying up as late as we did.
"morning."
she said in a chipper tone and i offered her a smile as i sat up.
"morning."
i said a little groggy, looking back over to the stairs as marcus trudged down them too, a tired look on his face.
"morning."
he groaned, going straight to the coffee pot and pouring a cup. i laughed a little at him as i stood up, stretching out.
"ready to get cooking?"
i asked, pulling my sweater on. i hadnt expected to sleep over so i was still in the clothes i had worn over. he just sent me a look, missy eating at the table now and nodding quickly.
"why did we make this thing for one oclock again?"
he asked playfully and missy sent him a look.
"youre the one who agreed to the pool party."
she pointed out and he made an 'o' shape with his mouth, making missy and i both laugh as i joined her at the table.
"alright, let me go get dressed and then we will start cooking."
°°°°°°°°°
when the party was finally over and everything was cleaned up i looked to marcus, drying the last of the dishes and putting them away quietly.
"what ya thinking about?"
i asked, leaning into the island and watching him intently. he frowned at me for a second.
"do you think she really had fun today?"
he said, looking over to the couch. after all the guests had left missy had showered and changed, and after having aloe applied generously to her sunburnt face, fell into a deep sleep sitting on the couch. i smiled, remembering what she had said to me earlier when she came in to get a drink.
"well considering she thanked earlier for making her birthday a special one for both of you im gonna go with yes."
i said, him finally smiling back at me as he put the last dish away.
"she really said that?"
he asked and i nodded.
"it was mentioned."
he sent me a look.
"she had said that not only was she having fun, but she was just happy to see you enjoying yourself again too. all the heroics laughing and having a good time next to their kids also having a good time; you really made a difference today."
he shook his head.
"okay, and what about you?"
i raised a brow.
"what about me?"
"did you have a good time today?"
he asked pointedly and i sighed out a laugh.
"yes Marcus, i had a very good time today."
i confirmed and he nodded once.
"good, because i would feel so bad if you hadnt. youve helped me so much here lately, i think you deserve it the most out of all of us."
i shook my head at him amused.
"thanks, but i doubt that."
he swallowed hard, furrowing his brows.
"no no don't say that, you work twice as hard as the rest of us. i just wish you could see that."
i looked to the ceiling for a moment before standing up and stretching.
"well if thats true then i think i deserve some sleep. though it has been fun, it has been one long day."
he nodded once.
"want to stay the night again? you can sleep upstairs in my room tonight if you want, i think missy has kind of taken over your spot."
he said with a laugh.
"i probably shouldnt, i need to get home, i gotta get my mail water my plants, all that jazz."
he watched me with a light gaze as i gathered up my things.
"well, im glad you could come over. and if you want to come back tomorrow for lunch-"
"id love that marcus."
i said and he smiled at me, a small blush visibly rising to his face.
"its a date?"
he asked, walking to the door with me. i thought for a second and nodded.
"yeah, its a date."
i said, his smile getting wider as i stepped outside.
"ill text you what time ill be over."
"ill be waiting."

Thank You @official-and-unstable-satan for reading over what I had last night and giving it a thumbs up. Love you babes.
Tumblr media
Red Sea Diving Resort, 70 kilometers from Port Sudan
You paced by the radio, it was silent. So silent, you just wished it would cackle and Sammy would come over in that garbled sound all radios make, letting them know they were successful, on there way back to the resort. But nothing. Occasionally Ethans voice would break through, making you jump in anticipation each time. He would ask for an answer, but there was nothing. Rachael hugged herself as she waited, nearby, ready to answer when needed.
“They will be okay Y/N, its not like Ari hasnt had them go radio silence before.”
You knew your friend was trying to assure you, but it was hard when your heart was wedged in your throat, waiting to bottom out. Here you and Sammy were similar, sometimes you thought the worst although you hoped for the best. How many times had Ari, cupped your face and made you look at him.
“Trust me Y/N” he would say.
Okay Ari, Im trusting you...
Then there was the cackle, and Sammys voice broke through. “On our way back, successful.” Both you and Rachael took relieved sighs and she answered right away. “Loud and Clear guys, see you soon.” You rubbed your face in relief and she came over to give you a squeeze around the shoulders. “Told you, its all gonna be good.”
Ari drove the truck with its ruined shocks, bouncing all over the road. It had been touch and go, but they managed to get the latest round of refugees out to safety in record time, and at the rate they were going, in just another week, they could be making this trip again.
“Can you slow it down?” Sammy asked, bouncing in his own seat, holding onto the ‘oh shit’ handle on the side. “Were not carrying refuges anymore if they stop us.”
Ari eased up. Barely, he was ready to get back to the resort, take some pain killers, crash for a couple good hours before going back to making more plans, and playing host to there current round of resort guests.
“I also wish you would let me look at where you cracked your head. Seriously Ari, only you man.”
Reaching up, he winced where his head clipped off the side of the trucks frame helping people climb out the back. It was a rushed moment, since Jake warned them that he saw headlights off in the distance, and they still had a truck full of people to get on the rafts. It wasnt his finest moment, but they got the job done and were able to hide the trucks off the beach. Once the armed men, no doubt some of Ahmed’s men, passed on by, they split out of there. Driving by moonlight till the beach was far off in the rear view. They got lucky, again.
Ari always seemed to get lucky, Sammy would sarcastically comment at times.
“Dont worry Sammy, Im fine. I will have Y/N take a look at it before we go to sleep.” Ari remarked, and his friend rolled his eyes and sighed in discouragement with his stubbornness. Ari continued on excitedly though. “It went pretty good I thought, considering they were patrolling. Everyone out, no one got injured. If we plan it right, we can go out next week, as long as Kabede can get them out of camp.”
Sammy wrinkled his brow, worry etching over his face. “You dont think thats pushing it a bit close? Ahmed is already suspicious as it is”
Ari smirked and looked over at Sam “Trust Me.”
Hours later the two trucks pulled up alongside of the resort, you and Rachael waiting just outside the main entrance to greet them back, also to find out about  why radio silence. Your hands wrung together and you blew out some hot air in a huff that fluffed your bangs. Rachael chuckled softly at your nerves and leaned in close to whisper to you. “See, its all good.” You smiled at her, an apology for your nerves, and went to greet the men.
Jake and Max came around, from one of the trucks with big grins on there faces.
“Like a charm Doll” Max said, slinging an arm around your shoulder. His good mood was infectious and you relaxed in his hold, your arm slinging around his waist with affection.
“So the radio silence was just for...?” You asked and from behind you, you heard Ari came up on your other side, carrying some of Sammys equipment, startling you. As big as Ari was, he was quiet. A skill he had picked up over the years of military training.
“There were patrols out, not far from us. We went entirely dark for a time while unloading, and had to hide the trucks.” You reached to take some of what he was carrying and caught sight of his face, near his temple was a line of dried blood, leading up to a nasty looking scrapped bruise.
Rachael caught sight of it to, wincing as she reached out to take the stuff from Ari. “Here, let me take that, and you should have Sam take a look at that.” Max collected what you had to, offering to help. Ari started to protest the two of them, when you gave him a gentle push to get him headed into the hotel.
“Shes right, come on.” you insisted, and he didnt fight you. Cutting through the lobby, the two of you skirted around the counter that was the check in, and headed into the employees only section. In the back rooms, Ari leaned lightly against the table watching you as you searched out the first aide kit. “Tomorrow Im going to go into the refuge camp, see if  Kabede is ready to bring the next group out, I know its soon, but if they can have to rescue boat back here by beginning of next week, we could start doing this alot faster.”
Ari continued on with what he was hoping for, and tidbits from tonight, while you sought through the bottom cupboard, and finally found the bright red cross case that was your first aide kit. Bringing it over to the table, and flipping it open, your ‘Mmhm’ sounding once in a while to show you were still listening, he reached over to grasp your wrist. “Y/N, whats wrong sweetheart?”
You glance at him while prepping a cloth to wipe away the blood and around the wound. “Ari... It sounds like it was a close call. If you all get caught, lets be real about this. They wont just throw you in some jail cell if your caught with truckloads of refugees.” You didnt mention the last part, the very first day you all arrived, there was an execution style killing going on right outside the window as he was negotiating just to get this place. That was a year and a half ago.
“What are you saying Y/N? You want us to stop? Were saving so many lives.”
Guilt crossed your face as you heard him, it was true. So far you all have managed to smuggle out hundreds of people, slowly emptying the refugee camps. But even in that there wasnt a end in sight. They would just keep coming, desperate and barely hanging onto the promise of freedom and safety.
“I know... I know... “ You say softly while he pulled out a chair and sat down on it so you could clean him up, thighs spreading so you could stand in close where you need to be, and tip his face slightly. “Just hearing how close they were tonight, you going radio silence. It scared me Ari. There is nothing we could do to save you guys.”
His hands moved to the back of your thighs, rubbing your tensed muscles through your pants and grasped lightly under the cheeks while you gently wiped at his cheek, the dried blood flaking off and making your way up the trail. “We have to be smart about this Ari, know when weve played our hand as much as we can without getting ourselves caught.”
Quiet for a time while you dabbed at his face softly, he finally spoke up. “Trust me Y/N, I know it. No one was more worried then I was that we were gonna be found. I drove like a fucking bat outta hell to put distance between us. I cant stop though, not right now... I wont. This works, what were doing works.”
And this was always how it was with Ari, forever will he put everyone else before himself. You knew this the day you agreed to join them on this mission, and to ask him to change? You knew he wouldnt give this up. Not for Sam, not for you, not for the family he left behind ages ago. It was a bitter pill to swallow at times, but at the same time, isnt that why you cared for him more then you should have, His selflessness?
So you set it aside for now, your fingers gentle as the trace over his bearded jawline to tilt his face further, and now careful clean up the actual cut. Its not as bad as it looked, and you change the subject. “How did this happen anyways?”
“Smashed it upside the back end helping people down. I was pulling myself up and clipped it.” Ari rolled his eyes at himself and you chuckled softly hearing it, brushing your fingers through his hair out of his eyes.
“Well fuck Ari, I apparently cant even leave you in the capable hands of Sammy to keep you out of trouble.” You tossed the cloth in the nearby sink now that he was cleaned up, and dabbed just a light amount of ointment on it to keep it clean. When you finished by rubbing your hands together quickly to clear away the rest of the ointment, he tightened his grip on your thighs and pulled one leg up, then the other to straddle him, wrapping one arm around your waist so you could brace back lightly against his arm.
“Not like you could keep me out of it either, dont worry Honey, we got this. We will stop when it gets to be to dangerous.” Your fingers brushed through his hair once more, giving it the lightest teasing tug before wrapping your arms around his neck, and giving him an doubtful smile. You knew it was a lie, he wouldnt. But right now this was another problem, another day, another worry for another time.
Wrapping his free hand around the back of your neck and dragging you forward, his lips connecting with yours and the wild taste of sea salt, hints of nicotine, and something just him drew out a soft moan from you, a tip of the head and he was able to draw you in deeper till you were leaning in against his chest, and with a light bite, he drew away, his long fingers lightly pressing in against the back of your neck.
“Ive got you, trust me.”
You didnt want to, but deep down, you always did.

We just got back from dinner with Jame's parents. It was a very long night where I told so many stories about my life and background. It was a lot. But it was also really nice. Just getting it all out on the table. Even if I may have made James's mom cry a little bit.
Today was a pretty good day but jesus it was humid. James says it was the most humid day this year. So he did not go on his very long bike ride, he is saving that for tomorrow. So we had the morning together and he made me hashbrowns and it was a good time.
I spent a lot of today just hanging out though. I felt really tired. Though I didnt want to be. So I worked in my studio. I worked on making those little squares out of the long pieces I had started a few weeks ago. And then cut those down twice and sewed those together to make this little panel. And then I wanted to experiment with more long stips. So since I have large pieces of fabric for once I chose some of those to start sewing together.
James made us popcorn and so I had that for lunch. Took a sewing break. Played around on my phone. Watched videos.
Got back to sewing in midafternoon. Brandon came over and we all chatted for a bit. I was finishing up the last of my strips when the machine started struggling. And then it stopped moving. And it sort of smelled like it was burning. So I think I just burned out the motor. And like. I have had this machine since I was like 14? Maybe younger. So I think I got my money's worth but I am still bummed because I have been having so much fun sewing. And the other machine is at camp. But now James's mom might give me her flip table machine which would be super cool!! Though it may also need some work but well cross that bridge when we get to it.
I was a little bummed but excited with what I did finish in that quick amount of time. I would like to try some applique techniques on this one. But it will depend on how long before James figures out how to get that machine to our place and I find a spot to put it. The studio is really full right now. Might need to move the train to the living room?
I laid in bed and watched videos for a while. Texted with Jess. The plant I ordered for her came and is twice as big as I expected it to be and we had a really good laugh about that. James and Brandon were playing video games. But soon it was time to get ready to go have dinner with the Fulwilers, so Brandon said goodbye and we got cleaned up and out the door.
It was a lot of fun hanging out with them. We got dinner. They gave us chips that someone sent them? Just like a huge box of snack bags of chips. James went to pick up the food we ordered while his mom and dad showed me the old sewing machine and a project Tucker wants me to help with. I think it will be a lot of fun. I hope we can figure it all out.
Dinner was nice and the ice cream after was good. Somehow we got on the subject of the dentist and how I need to go which ended up with me telling some of my deep dark stories and eventually making Anne cry. Oops. But it was really nice to just like tell them. About my parents and my siblings and the people weve lost this year and how conflicted it makes me. How I am trying to deal with everything while still feeling joy and love and how my parents have always been great examples of that. I really do love telling stories. And I got to hear some of their stories too and that was good. But as the night wore on everyone was getting tired, and Anne's drink seemed to hit her all at once and we decided to go home.
Were home now. SweetP is wandering around and Im watching pancake the frog bounce around his tank. And now i am going to take a shower and get some rest. I hope tomorrow to make more art and pack for camping and just. Not feel guilty all the time. We can only hope.

Secrets in the brush Pt2
This started as a self insert in my mind so I'm probably going to keep it that way, also featuring @monsbizarreadventures and @naranciabestboi (made up last names are used)
Recap:
"Hello...."
I whispered in wonder. The locals definitely had a secret, and I was lucky enough to go searching for it.
The dragon let a deep rumble fill his chest, my body shivering as I felt the vibrations. After briefly closing his eyes, they flashed open again. I moved my hand slightly, feeling the smoothness of the scales on his snout.
"Greetings, human."
I heard the deep voice, although the dragon's mouth did not move. I smiled giddily, the voice sounding like molten chocolate, rich and smooth.
"What is your name?"
I asked breathlessly. The dragon tilted his head slightly, as if he hadn't heard that question for several years. Given the area, I'd say my assumption is right.
"The villagers call me The Beast of Obsidian, but you may call me Anbraxas."
"My name is Sarah, Sarah Aldoss."
"What have you come here for?"
Pausing to once again savor the comfort the voice brought, I brought myself closer to earth.
"I'm here with my team to explore the forest and examine the species of flora in the area. I'm their photographer, but I tend to take the photos I think we should have..."
I rubbed the back of my neck with my free hand, blushing slightly as I remembered the several times my coworkers smiled at me in exasperation. The photos I took were stunning, but more often than not weren't what i was supposed to capture. I heard a deep rumble like thunder and I startled slightly before coming to the realization that Anbraxas was laughing. I giggled softly, going to remove my hand from his snout when he suddenly pushed his head closer. I squeaked softly and looked at him perplexed.
"Your hand feels.... pleasant, on my scales. Please dont remove it yet."
I wondered softly to myself how long it has been since he had contact with another living creature that didnt fear him. He seemed very kind, he hadn't snapped at me at all like how the usual dragon stories said. I smiled slightly and rubbed his nose more, smiling wider as I heard a rumbling purr come from his chest. Giggling, I raise my other hand to his forehead, gently resting my hand on the smooth surface.
He moved his head closer, nearly toppling me over as he pressed his head to my torso. I moved to sit down as his head followed me, finding its place upon my lap. I began scratching gently behind his ears and horns, hearing the rumbling get louder.
Who knew dragons could act like cats?
We sat and chatted together, although most of the conversation was questions from me and answers from him. I learned he was more than four thousand years old, and he'd lived in this cave for the past six centuries. He had never brought any harm to the villagers but they still feared him, giving him offerings that now rested within this cave. I rested my head upon his, watching as the sunlight coming in through the top of the chamber began to dim, being replaced with soft moonlight and stars.
Seeing this I gasped softly, realizing I've been away from my team for several hours. They're probably panicking looking for me! As if noticing my sudden tenseness, Anbraxas lifted his head and tilted it slightly.
"Is something wrong, Sarah?"
"I just realized I've been away from my team for probably ten, maybe even twelve hours! They're probably worried sick about me"
I covered my face in despair for a moment before standing up. I really dont want to leave, but I cant just stay here without letting my team know I'm okay. I saw Anbraxas nod, although he looked slightly hesitant. Taking a guess at what might be troubling him, I said
"I'll be back tomorrow, definitely"
He visibly brightened and I smiled. I was absolutely gonna go back, no way I'd pass up having a dragon as a friend. I rubbed his snout and pressed my forehead to his as a farewell, before walking toward the cave hallway. Stopping at the opening, I turned back and waved before making my way out of the cave and back up the hill to the city.
Navigating my way to the hotel we were staying in, I rubbed at my eyes slightly. Talking the day away sure does take a lot out of you. I leaned on the support rail as I walked up the stairs, opening the door on the third flight. Walking to room 46 I knocked on the door, hearing some shuffling from the other side. The door swung open and I was greeted with the surprised face of one of my closest friends in the group, Monica Stone. She quickly grabbed my arm and crushed me in a hug, shouting,
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, WEVE BEEN WORRIED SICK!"
hearing the commotion, Cait Deleon came out of the bathroom in her pajamas and gasped before running over and tackling us to the ground in a group hug. I laughed softly, hugging the two of them back. After they pulled away I was dragged into the room and spun around as Monica checked for any injuries, once satisfied she sat me down and looked at me expectantly. I rubbed the back of my neck before explaining that I, for what was probably the sixth time since we started working together, wandered off again.
Monica sighed and gave me that look that basically said "tell at least one person so we arent all freaking out" and I nodded. Monica was our travel medic, she kept us healthy and from killing ourselves accidentally. She could carry the boys across her shoulders if she had to. Cait, adorable little cait, was our navigator, although she sometimes forgets where we are going, she can get us back on track in a pinch.
After showering and getting into comfortable night clothes, I laid in the twin sized bed and smiled, thinking about how today went. I couldnt wait to go back to that cave, and luckily, tomorrow was my free day to go look around while the others logged their research. Giggling quietly, I turned on my side and fell asleep.

MERMAN Shownu X Reader
Genre: Fluffy
Word Count: 2,894
A/N: Okay, so, not gunna lie, this one was hard to write, but also fun! Thank you @xkpopobsessedx for helping me create ideas for this cutie! Anyway, I hope y’all enjoy!
Tumblr media
Day One: 8:00 PM
“It’s been so long since we’ve been on a vacation together. What’s it been like, five years?”
“Mmm...” I hummed, scrolling through my phone. My mother tapped my leg, my eyes dragging up to see her face, “What?”
“Put your phone away. We’re going on this trip to get you out of your funk since that stupid boy broke your heart.”
“Can we not talk about Dean, please...” I asked, turning my head to look out the window.
“This four day get away at the beach should help you.”
“Yeah, because the ocean and sand can help me get rid of my depression...”
“Don’t be like that, Y/N...” She whispered and I tuned her voice out as I watched the trees turn into beaches, tan sands fading almost to white due to the season change. The water soaking in the still warm air and bright sun, resting upon the shore line waiting to cover someone’s feet; I bet it’s starting to get cold, not like we’ll probably swim anyway.
“We’re here.” We pulled up to a house that sat on the beach. The siding of the house colored a cerulean blue, fashioned with dark wood steps leading up to the door; even though the house was weathered, it still held some beauty. We stepped out of the car, pulling our luggage from the trunk, and then made our way up to the door. My mother opened the deep red door and we were greeted by the squeals of my older sisters, Anessa and Samantha.
“So glad you guys could finally make it.” Anessa took our mother’s luggage from her, sliding it over to the side of the couch.
“I’m sorry, girls. There was so much traffic on the highway.”
“No surprise there.” Sam grunted from the couch.
“Sorry to interrupt, but will you show me to my room, please?” I asked, Anessa skimmed over me, placing her hands on her hips.
“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you. I think the last time I saw you was at Christmas dinner with De—”
“All right, all right, let’s not pester, Y/N. She’s had a long week. Sam, honey, show her to her room, please.”
“Ah, okay, mom.” Sam replied, getting up from the couch. I followed her down the hall to the last room on the left and she opened the door, “Let me know if you need anything, okay?”
“Mmm...” I nodded and walked into the blinding room. Pale blue painted walls, dark wood flooring, driftwood colored furniture, white bedding, and a window seat facing the ocean.
Cute...
I opened my bag, unpacked my clothes into the dresser, then closed the curtains over the windows, and finally laid down on the bed, resting my eyes.
Tumblr media
Day Two: 4:00 AM
I opened my eyes to a dark bedroom, the sound of the ocean waves seeping into the room.
How long have I been out?
I pulled my phone from under the pillow, the screen lighting up to show 4:02 on the clock. I laid my phone down, turning on the lamp on the side table, then getting up to pull a sweater from the dresser. I tugged it on, slipping on my shoes, and stepping out of the bedroom into the dim hallway. I padded my way across the floor into the dining room, sliding the glass balcony door open, letting the sea salt tainted air kiss my face. I closed the door behind me and walked down the balcony stairs, down into the sand. The sound of the waves crashing soothed my numb mind, my body being pulled closer to the shore; I sat down close to the water, watching it roll in and drift back out, when something moving through the water caught my eye.
A person swimming at this time of night?
I watched the body move closer and closer until I could make out his features in the moonlight— shaggy dark brown hair, soft cheek bones, but killer jaw line, thick lips, and sharp eyes.
Wow, he’s gorgeous...
He came closer until his body rested on the shore, everything but his head still under the water, “Hey...”
Is he talking to me?
I looked around, searching for someone else he could be talking to when he spoke again, “Who are you looking for?”
“I was making sure you were actually talking to me.” I confessed, tugging at the sleeves of my sweater. His eyes wrinkled as a beaming smile appeared on his lips.
“What is a beautiful girl like you doing out here in the middle of the night?”
“I could ask you the same thing. Isn’t the water cold?” I asked, moving closer to him, the water starting to touch my feet.
“Not really. I live in the water so it doesn’t really effect me.”
“Ah, you mean you’re always coming out to swim—”
“No...” The water splashed behind him and I leaned to the side, the dark red color coming into focus, “I’m a merman.” I got up to my feet, traipsing into the water, the iciness making me hiss, but I needed to make sure he wasn’t playing around with me, I needed to see if he was telling the truth.
“I thought mermaids and mermen were just old sailors tales, not real life...?” I questioned as he turned over, sitting on the ocean floor, his waist submerged under the water.
“We stay hidden for our safety.” He lifted his tail, the deep red iridescent scales glittering under the moonlight.
“What a shame, you’re a beautiful creature...” I ran my hand over his scales, his tail twitching at my touch. I flicked my eyes up to his face, his cheeks ruddied and his bottom lip caught between his teeth, “I’m sorry, I touched you without even asking,”
“No, no, that’s okay. I was just shocked you actually came out into the cold ocean to touch me.” He teased, his wet locks fell onto his forehead as he lifted his hand, “I haven’t introduced myself yet, I’m Hyunwoo, but you can call me Shownu.”
“Oh,” I took his hand into my own, shaking it, “I’m Y/N.”
“A beautiful name for someone like you.” My cheeks burned at his statement, his chestnut eyes stared into mine, his hand pulling me close, “Y/N...” My name bubbled from his lips, his voice hypnotizing me, “I’m sorry, but the sun is starting to come up, so I must take my leave.”
“Oh...” I turned towards the horizon, hints of pinks starting to tint the sky, “Has it really been that long?”
He grunted to my question, “Can I see you tomorrow night, well I should say tonight?”
“Of course you can, if you want to.” A smile spread over his lips, his teeth peeking through his lips.
“Lovely. Meet here at midnight?”
I nodded, biting my lip.
“I’ll see you tonight, Y/N.” Shownu swam out into the ocean, soon diving down and disappearing.
Tumblr media
Day Three: 12:00 am
“You came, Y/N.” Shownu laid against the shore, just as he did the night before.
“Did you think I wouldn’t?”
Shownu pondered my question then shrugged, “I wasn’t sure, but I’m glad you did.”
“I actually came prepared this time, too.”
“What do you mean by that?” He asked as I pulled off my sweater, Shownu clearing his throat, “Y/N, what’re you doing?”
“Taking off my clothes, so I can get in the water in my bathing suit and keep my street clothes clean and dry.” I laughed, seeing his cheeks flush.
“I thought you were—”
“Oh, I know what you thought.” I teased, tossing my shorts with my sweater away from the shore and stepping into the water, taking a seat next to him. He cleared his throat once more, scooting closer to me, peering into my face.
“Y/N?”
“Yes?”
“Has anyone ever told you that you have the prettiest eyes? Especially in the moonlight?”
I laughed a bit, nudging him, “Has anyone ever told you that you’re such a flirt?” Shownu let out a chuckle leaning into me, sighing comfortably, “I do have a question for you, Shownu.”
“And I have an answer for you... probably.”
“If staying hidden was to keep you safe, why did you show yourself to me?”
“Hmm... that’s a good question...” He flicked his tail up, sucking his teeth, “Since I was a child, I could always tell when someone needed something. May it be an ear or someone to lean on, I could just feel it in my bones and seeing you last night, I could tell something was wrong, but I didn’t need to ask since it’s none of my business...” He paused for a moment, his hand ghosting over my fingers, “I’m here for you, whatever you need, Y/N.” I looked at him, his eyes catching mine.
“Shownu...” I felt a blush start to prickle at my cheeks and I looked down at my lap, soon his warm wet fingers brushed strands of hair behind my ear, “Tomorrow is my last night here so, I wouldn’t get too attached to me.”
“I’m not going to worry about that right now. I’ll make the moments you spend with me memorable, to where you won’t forget me or want to leave me.”
“Not like I could forget meeting a merman.” I breathed, moving out into the water.
“Oh, would you like me to leave then?” He huffed, moving out into the water with me.
“No!” I exclaimed and Shownu snorted, trying to stifle a laugh, “Don’t be mean.” I splashed water at him and he chuckled.
“Oh, now it’s on.” He hissed, playfully pulling me to him, his fingers poking at my sides making me squirm and giggle under his touch. I struggled to get away from him, but his hands ceased their attack and held me close to him, his warmth spreading through my back.
“Is this where you kill me?” I joked, a laugh leaving him.
“If I wanted to kill you, I would’ve already.” I rested my head against his chest, watching the moon ripple on the water.
“The more time I spend out here in the water, the more I feel myself wanting to stay. For a change of scenery, to get away from my home, away from the memories that linger in that town...” I ran my fingers over Shownu’s arm, his grip tightening.
“Then why don’t you stay?”
“There’s just things I have to return to... work, school... life in general. I rather spend my time here, with you, soaking up the moonlight and avoiding stress.”
“Stress? Why are you so stressed?”
“It’s a long story.”
“We’ve got three more hours until daylight, so we’ve got time.”
“Well...” I went into deep detail of my life for the past few months since my break up with my ex and about how I’ve been dealing with it. Every once in a while Shownu would ask a question and then fall silent again; once I finished my life story, Shownu rested his head in the nook of my neck.
“I wish you never had to go through that, Y/N... You’re such a sweet girl. If I were human, I would keep you by my side forever.” He whispered, placing a gentle kiss on my shoulder.
“You’re too kind, Shownu... We just met and I feel like I’ve known you for forever.” I relaxed into him, sighing a bit, noticing the break of daylight leaking out onto the water, “Time to go, Shownu...”
“Just a few more minutes, please.” Shownu tightened his grip on me, burying his face into my damp hair.
“Just a few, I don’t want you getting caught.” Shownu lifted his head, turning it in close to my cheek, his lips grazing against my skin.
“Alright.” Shownu held me close for a few more moments, short silent moments, before he let me go and placed a soft kiss against my cheek, “Midnight, my dear.”
“Deal.” I smiled, watching him dive down, and disappear.
Tumblr media
Day Four: 12:00am
I sat down on the cold sand in jeans and a thick sweater, the sea salt breeze starting to get colder every night. I watched the water ripple, waiting for Shownu to appear. Pulling my knees up to my chest, I rested my head on them, my eyes getting heavy. I dug my phone from my pocket, looking at the clock that read 12:10.
Maybe he got caught up with something... He knows it’s our last night...
I hugged my legs, burying my face into my sweater to fight off the cold breeze, closing my eyes.
Tumblr media
“Y/N...” A gentle voice called out, rousing me from my sleep. I pulled my head up for the bright sunlight to blind me.
It’s morning?
I rubbed my eyes, blinking them a few times before trying to focus on anything around me.
He didn’t show...
Warmth spread over the top of my head, causing me to look up, a shadow looming over me, “I’m sorry it took me so long, Y/N, but I’m here now...” Shownu’s voice met my ears and I smiled.
“That’s funny... you sound like—” The shadow crouched down, my eyes focusing on the voice’s face, Shownu’s features coming into focus.
“It is me, dork.” He whispered and I looked him up and down, no tail, but human legs covered by the blanket I brought out.
“Shownu?!” I squealed, jumping from the sand to face him, “H-How is this possible?” I studdered, trying to take in his body. He stood, a little wobbly on his feet.
“When my father passed, he knew I was not meant for the sea, he gave me an elixir saying that it could make one sprout legs to walk the earth. I thought it was all a joke so I didn’t mess with it, but then I met you and I needed to at least try to see if it was real... and now...” He chuckled, “I’m here, in front of you, naked...”
“Oh shit, Shownu, let’s get you inside.” I took his hand, tugging him up to the balcony, “When did you get here? How long did you let me sleep?” I walked up the stairs and then I pushed open the sliding door to be met by my mother’s and my sister’s stares.
“Y/N? Who is the naked—”
“No time to explain, mom. Anessa, do you still have some of your husbands old clothes that don’t fit him anymore?” They stared at me then skimmed over Shownu, him shyly lifting his hand, waving— them not moving, “Y’all!” I yelled, Anessa rushing to her room.
“Let me go draw a bath for him, you must be freezing, dear.” My mother looked over him once more before going to the bathroom. Sam just sat there, ogling him, her mouth slightly ajar.
“Sam, go do something with yourself...” I growled, pulling Shownu over to the bathroom, my mother sliding out to let us through. I closed the door behind us and I sighed leaning against the counter, “They’re going to be the death of me...”
“They seem nice.”
“They can be, until they see a gorgeous man walk through the door.” Shownu chuckled at my words, “Alright, merman, get into the bath.” He looked at me and then at the bathtub.
“The what?”
“The bath...” I pointed at the tub and he shrugged his shoulders, starting to get into the bathtub with the blanket wrapped around his waist, “Oh, hold on...” I took the blanket into my hands, closing my eyes, pulling it from his body.
“Can I not get that wet?”
“I mean you could, but the bath is to wash you.”
“Wash me?” I opened my eyes to be met with his confused gaze.
“Yes, wash you. Now sit.” He sat down at my words.
“It’s hot.”
“Yup, that’s how it’s supposed to be.” I took the cup that was on the side of the tub and dipped it into the water, then pouring it over his hair. I grabbed the bottle of shampoo and he cocked his head to the side.
“What’s that?”
“Shampoo, it’s to wash your hair.” I opened the cap and squirted the thick liquid into my hand and rubbed it into his hair, creating a thick lather, and then pouring the water through his hair once more to rise it out. I grabbed another bottle and handed it to him, “Okay so this is body wash, you take this...” I grabbed a washcloth from the rack over the toilet and handed it to him, “Soak that in the water and add some of the body wash to the cloth and clean your body. I’m going to go get the clothes from Anessa.”
“Mmm.” He nodded his head and I left the bathroom, Anessa, Sam, and my mother looking at me.
“What?”
“Who is that man?” Sam crossed her arms, huffing.
I laughed a little, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, just think of him as my new companion... Anessa, those clothes?”
“Ah.” She handed me a stack of clothes and I smiled, “When we get home, I’ll send these back.”
“Just keep them. They’re too big for him anyway.”
“Thanks.” I turned back and walked into the bathroom to see Shownu standing outside of the tub, a towel wrapped around his waist, “Oh, you’re done?”
“I think so.”
“Well, c’mon, let’s go get you dressed.” I opened the door once again, starting to walk out when Shownu’s hand gripped onto the fabric of my sweater, following closely behind me.
Tumblr media
Shownu sat on my bed, clothed in a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt, his eyes roaming the bedroom. I dug in one of the dresser drawers, pulling out another towel and I walked over in front of him, “Your hair is still wet, you’re going to get a cold, goofy.” I gently rubbed his hair, drying the dripping ends, his hands wrapping around my waist.
“Is this what it would be like everyday with you?” He nuzzled his face into my chest, my cheeks burning at the feeling of his warmth radiating through my body.
“Shownu, why did you change?”
Not missing a beat, he spoke, “Because I found someone I couldn’t live in the water with, so I changed...” He gazed up at me, his unwavering chestnut eyes looking into my soul, “So I could be with you.”

In this week’s bonus content, Dave places prank orders on the local carapacian message boards.
JAKE: Ms roxys mom!! JAKE: Is it true your girlfriends a vampire? ROSE: Last time I checked. ROSE: To be technical, the Alternian term is "rainbow drinker". ROSE: There are some differences, but if you're going for "attractive young woman who drinks blood", you're on the money. ROSE: Similar to the way "Ms Roxys mom" is on the money, but the term I'm used to is "Rose". JAKE: Its polite for one to wait until such a time as one had been introduced. JAKE: As such im jake. Dont believe weve yet spoken! ROSE: No, not directly, unless we've exchanged witticisms in a memo somewhere. ROSE: I've lost track of those. ROSE: I think they've become independent sentient creatures. ROSE: As such, they must be allowed to flourish on their own, making their own decisions. ROSE: They're grown up now. They can make their own choices. JAKE: Just walkin off all on their lonesome huh? JAKE: Godspeed to you memos. What happens in you stays in you. ROSE: With a tear in my eye, I waved them off to memo university, where they'll learn hard truths about themselves while obtaining an education. JAKE: I hear theyre going into the communications field. Good for them! ROSE: I expect great things of them. ROSE: And plenty of tawdry hijinks. ROSE: But if you've been reading them, you'll notice we already have those. ROSE: Dave tried to order a pizza from a carapace agent. JAKE: He what. JAKE: Can you do that? ROSE: Dersites have their own message boards. Mostly focused on fashion, apparently, but you can post whatever you like. ROSE: I doubt he received his delivery. JAKE: Do carapaces have pizzerias and if so what the heck have i been doing with reheated alchemized food for the past five months? JAKE: I am alas a deprived man. I never knew what i was missing until jane started bussing us the captchas for her home cooking. ROSE: Honestly? I have no idea. ROSE: I did roam Derse for a few months in another timeline, but I didn't have culinary experiences on the mind. ROSE: I can relate, though. ROSE: Most of my background was in microwave dinners. ROSE: Which I look back on with fondness now, after what we've been subsisting on for the last few years. ROSE: Which brings us back to the original topic, more or less. ROSE: Yes, this outfit has vampires now. That's a thing that we have. JAKE: Man. You guys were off having all the fun on the magical hijinks. JAKE: Not that tomb raiding wasnt a blast but you know there were no vampires. ROSE: As many of the more romantic novels would suggest, it's a bit of a burden. ROSE: But an asset if you want to keep your plans after being shot through the abdomen, or so she tells me. JAKE: So does it come with the unholy cravings and aversion to the daylight or is this weird alien vampiracy? ROSE: Actually, she's one of the few of her kind that enjoys the sun. ROSE: As for unholy cravings... ROSE: That depends on your definition. ROSE: *eyebrow waggle* JAKE: Er. JAKE: The blood drinking i meant the blood drinking!! JAKE: Gosh what you two do together is your own private matter. *tugs collar of god tier cape.* ROSE: She's working on that. ROSE: She won't go for your jugular without permission, if that's what you're worried about. JAKE: Good to know. Im not presently in a state of mind where id be interested. ROSE: Not that many people enjoy the subtle pleasures of being lunch. JAKE: I am an open-minded man. JAKE: But i dont think im into vore. ROSE: Based on what I've heard of the clutter in Jade's home, you may have been into just about everything else. ROSE: But then, fetishes don't always cross universes. JAKE: ! JAKE: Hey now no fair going through a mans dirty laundry! JAKE: What if i dragged out your alt-selves smut rags? ROSE: Relax. I've never seen any of it first hand. ROSE: The three who traveled with access to the house, on the other hand... ROSE: Also, I have smut rags? ROSE: Where are they? ROSE: I must see these immediately. ROSE: I wonder if I had the same usernames. JAKE: Funnily enough i hear you were specialized in vampire penny dreadfuls with real gals of the shadows. JAKE: Roxy did some digging and uncovered one of your many many psuedonyms. ROSE: I'll give you a king's ransom to get me copies and make sure my brother never finds out about this. ROSE: It's bad enough he uncovered my fanfiction.net account. JAKE: I will exchange it for your silence on whatever youve heard on alt-mes personal life. JAKE: Especially to dirk! JAKE: Well dirk... dirks one matter but definitely not hal. JAKE: Ill find some way to bribe jade and the rest. ROSE: I'll keep what I know hush hush. ROSE: Jade was evasive, though. ROSE: Mostly because she didn't want anyone to know you were dead. ROSE: I do know you had a passion for washed out blue pictures of women, though. I'll keep mum on that. ROSE: And the potential of illegitimate children scattered around the tri-state area. ROSE: You should always be careful about giving your full name to people over the Internet. Sometimes they do some digging. JAKE: Wait what. JAKE: What?? JAKE: Never mind i dont want to know! JAKE: Dirk wasnt exactly pleased about his alt self but as both men are apparently very very dead their checkered pasts shall lie with them. ROSE: As befits them. ROSE: Jade did use your past behavior to shame me, I'm afraid to say. ROSE: But it was yours, not his, and it was mostly to dissuade me from my familial path of jumping out the relationship plane without a parachute. ROSE: Apparently my genes don't have the monopoly on that kind of extreme evasive technique. JAKE: Oh... JAKE: Oh great. JAKE: Im an example. JAKE: A "cautionary tale" even!! JAKE: Madam let me just briefly say that by our deep emotional conversations that it does in fact take two to tango! JAKE: I wasnt the one who burned that particular bridge anyway. ROSE: Don't worry, we're all cautionary tales at this point. ROSE: That's what mythology is all about. ROSE: Respect your elders. Stay away from taboos. Don't have sex with cows. ROSE: The lessons from Greek mythology alone are practically endless. JAKE: The ol boys sound like they knew how to party. ROSE: That and not much else. JAKE: Did they do anything but go on adventures and cheese off the gods? JAKE: And hoe down like there was no tomorrow? ROSE: There were a lot of curses. ROSE: Our family tree may be just as convoluted, but hopefully we can avoid some of the drama. JAKE: I hope we got that out of our system now without having to see a man about a horse. ROSE: I think we've done a decent job of it. ROSE: I heard all of you had a blowout. ROSE: Two blowouts actually. ROSE: An emotional one and then a physical one. ROSE: We felt the aftershocks of the latter. JAKE: Yeah... JAKE: But we worked it out. JAKE: The physical blowout was the result of teamwork and friendship! JAKE: The emotional one not so much but its ok now! ROSE: That's been the story of our lives so far. JAKE: Just give dirk a hug if you get the chance ok? JAKE: He needs it. ROSE: Would he appreciate it? ROSE: I know my brother is worse than a bad kudzu infestation, but my ectofather seems standoffish. JAKE: No no trust me on this one hes on you he doesnt want to let go. JAKE: He just has a hard time initiating is all. JAKE: But hes down for some awesome platonic embraces almost all the time. ROSE: I see... ROSE: I'm spotting the problem. ROSE: We may be too alike. Someone else may have to lift our arms and gently wrap us around each other. ROSE: Then, once the hug is properly secured, it can become self-sustaining. ROSE: Maybe. JAKE: I will have to be the middle man then. ROSE: You'll broker our accord. ROSE: Anyway, unlike our illustrious Greek forebears, we're not myths written down. We can break our patterns. ROSE: I think we've already begun. ROSE: If I have to learn to initiate physical contact while not three sheets to the wind, maybe that's another step in the right direction. JAKE: I will be the one delicately managing the lamprey tendrils of strider-lalonde limbs. ROSE: Will you now? JAKE: I mean. Why not? ROSE: Far be it from me to impede on awkward sibling hugs. ROSE: I'll look forward to it.

we were just playing with each other in bed like little kids. tickling each other, he showed me posts he sent me on Instagram and we laughed at stupid shit posts. then he just switched. and i meant nothing, not even a friend. i dont know why hes like this to me now. he doesnt see it. he doesnt care. im in so much pain. from the little things to thr bad things, they all add up. they all feel like stabs in my chest. i wake up everyday feeling depressed because the man sleeping next to me might wake up happy to see me, but he might also wake up wishing i werent there. i think this is starting to affect my health. i cant fall asleep at night because my ming is racing with thoughts on how hes cheated, how he doesnt like me, how he doesnt love me, he doesnt find me attractive, he treats me horribly but doesnt see how. once i do fall asleeo i never want to wake up, i dread everyday because hes my life and he doesnt want me. everything he does consumes my mind and that may sound pathetic but its just the way it is. my head always hurts. im noticing that my stomach only hurts when hes around. i just want him to love me. i dont know whats wrong with me. ive never been this kind of girl. hurting herself and her life over a boy. i had dreams. i was smart. i had friends.i was going to go to college in new york and finally break out of my shell and go party and date different boys and girls but never settle because im young and focusing on myself and this sounds so cliche but it's true FUCK.
im only 19 im only 19 but i feel like my life is ending over a fucking boy. he took my high school years. he took my first kiss. my first smoke. my virginity. he took over my life and maybe thats my own fault but i didnt mind. because he used to love me just the same. he looked at me with love, and he wasnt mean to me, and if he was on accident he cried because he felt bad and he told me i was the most important thing in his life and now im garbage. i feel so alome. so stuck. i dont know whag to do. i domt want to leave him.i love him so much it hurts. i see a future with him.i want to marry him. were living together, weve blended our cat family together weve helped each other through everything. ive helped him through everything . we went through highschool together, friends, friend breakups, pet death, family problems, vacations, EVERYTHING. we've lived life together and we're so young. please i dont know why this is happening. i thought he would love me forever but its already ended. i felt like we've been together for forever but also like we jsut met. hes 2 different people. i miss him so much. i wish he would come to the bathroom right now. i wosh he cared. i wish he was up right now worried about me. but i know he isnt. deep dowm i know he was annoyed when he felt me get out of bed. deep down i know hes sleeping right now. and deep down i know ghat im going to talk to him tomorrow and cry to him and give him a speach and hell sa sorry and we'll go back to normal.
i camt do this anymore. i dont know what to do.

Hey yall! Did you know that its mothers day today? And that all my cousins will be w/ their moms except for me + my sister bc our mom is fucking dead, and ill have to go to their family reunion and pretend that they dont lool at me with pity
And then my aunt whos like hey why dont you call or respond your texts? And its like oh gee i dont know, maybe because the last time weve been all together was at her funeral, maybe eveytime im with any of you you try to talk abt my future, and you know what ive been trying these last weeks! Ive been studying and trying to get a lil of money amd even went and had social interactions! Im going to my therapist!! And yet i just can see how tomorrow any of my two aunts are gonna Say Something and its like shut up, shut up im trying, just shut up
Do you think im stupid that i dont know what i need to do? Im not stupid, but its so fucking hard when i have no motivation to live since i was 14, and i couldnt have someone good with life advice til i was like 50, i only got it til 19 and yet look at me, actually finishing high school now instead of 20 or 30 years later, planning in starting college next year, yes im on the edge of a depressive episode e ery month or week or so but im fucking thriving. They dont have the right to tell me anything, compared to them at this age im the pinnacle of everythi g
God i dont want to see them tomorrow, i dont want to see anyone, but if i dont There Will Be Consequences in form of my cousin recording an audio of thee minutes just telling me how much she loves me and stuff and its like yeah, yeah i know that, shut up, do you think i dont know thay? I know all of you love me of course you do we're family, i love you too, but thats it. I very much dont want to see you, i dont want to interacr with any of you. Just leave me alone. My dad's family(minus my granny) may be shallow and creepy and borderline racist and ok they make me highly uncomfortable, but they never try to get to me which i very much appreciate

In a very rambly mood and bored at work so I guess I'm gonna talk about my life (positive, reflective) in a read more?? Idk friends/mutuals/curious passer bys if you wanna see what my lifes been like recently
May has been a WILD month y'all. I moved into an apartment, got my 2nd vaccination, survived mothers day, and I went from temp work to be hired full time and salaried :00
The apartment has been so nice!! Ive been very tired of having no control over my living space so that's been very lovely. Its def still a mess but we are slowly moving in; working on getting hanger to hang clothes up and stuff like that 😂
I didnt expect it but we are also fairly furnished at this point?? Between my parents and my boyfriends family donating stuff they had, them buying a few things as house warming presents, and us buying a few essential items -- we've got a fully furnished kitchen; both have desks; a living room set up is on the way (TV stand, TV, couch); comfy ass bed; and a dresser to pick up when we have time. So like ? Its awesome. Just need to finish cleaning
It actually may be put together when my sibling comes to town! They are moving back to CA/home after spending college + 2 years out in Boston so its going to be the first time in like ? A decade that most of my siblings and i are living on the west coast. With them coming out tomorrow (holy shit its tomorrow!) That means weve got 3/4 in CA
Work itself isnt very exciting but coming on full time is for sure. Nearly doubled my salary 🙏 which is badass ngl. Excited to be the sugar mama/aunty ive always wanted to be 😅
The work itself is fine - if anything i wish they gave me more because I hate having nothing to do 🙃 ik others would kill to play phone games all day but after the 2nd week of 8 hour days of phone games you start to miss busy work lol!
I also think its playing into my energy? Ive just been super exhausted lately. I think its partially because im doing nothing at work? Counter intuitive but sometimes my depressed ass is less depressed and exhausted when I DO stuff. So i think its work (or the lack there of) feeding into depression which the messy ass state of the apartment also feeds into and the feeling of never ending organization/cleaning all has left me very tired ;-;
All in all been an upward trajectory recently I think! Biggest complaint being i wish i had more energy to stay up later and visit w/my boo :( and i wish i had more work just to keep me busy/the day going by quicker. Otherwise I kinda cant believe how good its going?
Idk if you read this you clearly care enough about me/were curious enough to read this and i hope you know ily! A lot of y'all on this hellsite have seen me break down so its nice that for once im coming on here to ramble about things that arent catastrophic and horrible. A lot of yall have been there to support me and are def part of why im still kicking it today so thanks for caring about me! Whether it was enough to be my friend/mutual or if it was just enough to read my post :)
Y'all are fabulous! Much love

ive had this list of all the steam powered giraffe songs listed in order of my favorite to least favorite in each album, but i havent done anything with it and i made the list last year. thought id might as well post it!
each song has a little blurb about that song, and the reason i like it. strictly my opinions on the songs, but i tried to include some of the technical stuff so if you hadnt heard the song before, you could get a Feel of it.
album one
steam man band - wonderful lyrics and vocals! the robotic twinge i lovely and i wish this was longer. i love the lyric “count to twenty, one is plenty”
clockwork vaudeville - a charming song about a boy seeing the robots for the first time at a fair and you feel it in every note. theres a part where the spine switches to a more harsh voice and it works wonderfully to contrast the smoothness of thus far.
electricity is in my soul - again, i love the robotic edge this song has, but it also is smooth. the lyrics and vocals are amazing. so fun to sing along to.
brass goggles - the first song i heard of them, the three part harmonies are to die for and rabbit kills it. in the original version, the voices are super busy and super robotic and tbh its my fav version because of this. i adore when they split into three parts and sing their own thing.
sound of tomorrow - i love the chorus, especially the echo the spine does. love all the weird lyrics the jon sings.
blind minstrels ballad - i love how ambient and mysterious it is. sets the mood for a story. i love the jons voice.
steam man band reprise - i love michaels voice and the staticy effects the band had a lot of in this album. the lyrics work really well and i wish this was longer.
captain albert alexander - one of my favorite hero songs, caa is a whirlwind adventure of a man who loves the sea. i love the story line and it hits you hard emotionally
out in the rain - ambiance! i love the mood this song sets.
on top of the universe - a cute song about being in love, very charming and captures the feeling of falling in love at first sight. i love the end part where the spine has to be beat up.
ice cream parade - hilarious! works well as a skit but the song itself is messy. i like the horse adventure part (of course i start to like it when the spine starts singing).
2cent show
automatonic electronic harmonics - western vibes but keep the steam punk feel! robotic themed but focused around the spines feeling and experiences. i love the screaming. the second spg song i listened to.
circuitry - i cant understand what their saying, but i love the robotic screeching and words you can just barely understand. a circusy feeling.
juju magic - the jon kills it with the mood again, i love that you have that steamboat feel, but now everything is going crazy. nothing is right and the lyrics dont make sense but it works wonderfully.
me and my baby - this song makes you want to dance and the spine kills the vocals.
one way ticket - i love the feel of this song! the lyric “the conductor plays the bass, and the train it has a face” just. gives you that mood that this is all magical and cartoony and its just an adventure your having on a train.
the suspender man - one of my other favorite hero song. the lyrics can get strange at times but thats part of the charm. its so fun to sing along, especially in the fast parts. i love singing never 21 times.
steamboat shenanigans - i adore the lyrics. youre standing on a boat running on music and good feeling. the lyrics are silly and the vocals are wonderful. rabbit has a charming edged voice. uncle ralphie makes his appearance in a tuba
prelude to a dream - again, michaels charming voice strikes again. the way the lyrics are sung are eerie but strike you.
the ballad of lily - what is it with me and liking the segway songs more than the actual songs. the ballad of lily slowly builds into something greater as time goes on and i love the accordion.
make believe - another song i want to dance to, the chorus is so fun and great. this song is about being good.
honeybee - one of my favorite parts of this is how when the robots sing “bee” it reminds me of the subtle sounds of a bee buzzing. a sad song about love, maybe something we can relate to.
rex marksley - a wild wild west adventure following the greatest hero, rex wanders around doing good deeds for his life. a great beat and chorus, but it the verses that make it great.
scary world - i love the tentative way things are sung, spine and the gang are scared during this song, something is afoot. pretty sure the morse code says something serious and imaginative, and then ends with the word “bananimals”
thatll be the way home - another era song, you get the feel of the time period like a lot of the other songs on this album. thatll is a really fun word to sing repeatedly.
airheart - a story about a part airplane part woman who becomes a great pilot. a cute story with a great harmony.
little birdie - cute lyrics, the mood of the song is so strange and not how you would think.
mk3
go spine go - easily one of my favorite songs. a jazzy sort of song about the spine having diarrhea. poor spine gets harassed by his band mates
roller skate king - all time favorite hero song. rsk is just a fun guy who roller skates and wants other people to have fun. i cant help but to dance to this song and the chorus is super catchy.
wired wrong - a song that hits too far home. weve all felt wired wrong one way or another. the harmonies are so solemn but hit all the right emotions.
hatch fever - hatchworths debut song. hes still learning what its like to be one of the singing bots so hes still working out the kinks. fast and catchy, i love the abrupt breaks in the song.
fancy shoes - mysterious fancy shoes from a mouse find themselves on hatchys feet. i love the tangents and the footfall sounds at the beginning set the mood of the strange yet serious mood of the song.
steam powered giraffe - you can feel everyone getting ready to sing, i love how you hear about the robots being robots. i love the contrast between all the robots voices tied together with lovely lyrics and a fun beat.
ghost grinder - rabbit strikes again with a chilling song, but this song works the scary theme into a fun halloweeny song about a dancing event.
mecto amore - i love the sultry kind of beat this song has at the beginning. always in love with songs that remind you these singers are robots.
turn back the clock - i cried listening to this song like full on sobbing. rabbit has such a true performance of watching a little girl grow up in little to no time. the song is heart wrenching but worth a listen to understand a part of rabbits character. you can feel her emotions as she laments time.
please explain - silly lyrics that fit together nicely. a series of questioning things the robots dont understand. the spines verse is funny not because of the spine, but the other robots making razzberry sounds during it.
a way into your heart - a love letter to the fans. weve had hard times but the robots will be there for us to sing with and get a smile back on our face. a cute song, but the first few lyrics are sung awkwardly.
bleak horizon - i think its hilarious when the little kid is just like “...bye” a chilling song about the future. harmonies are on point
steam powered giraffe reprise - a cute idea that works really well on stage and kind of random on the cd. the robots have been reset and now sing in japanese. kind of stunted sounding japanese but the song is still catchy and lively.
ill rust with you - this song screams grease. super 70s and you pick up that feel immediately. you can practically imagine rabbit in the all the clothes she describes
she said maybe - another song boasting spines vocal range. kind of creepy.
vice quadrant
its cosmic - the chorus, god the chorus. the progression of notes leaves my ears wanting only more.
the speed of light - you can pinpoint just where the song takes its turn from innocent amazement to more sinister. all this power, you feel invincible. chilling, just like all the song about the astronaut. the build up is amazing.
progress and technology - i adore the spines sharpness of his voice. the robotic feel matches the theme of how the future has come so far. slightly ominous in its lyrics, you feel like something will go wrong with this utopia.
oh no - legit sobbed the first few times i listened to it. the soliton reprise kills me every time. the first word sung is actually my favorite, but i love the pacing of this song, especially at the beginning
daughter of space - the story lyrics that the spine continues to excel at. i love how the lyrics mimic the astronauts feelings towards the daughter of space.
on a crescendo - soft, homely, this song lets you live in the comfort of your time while describing how far humans have come. im so glad a song so chill made it into this album.
commander cosmo - im so glad dwight is ok. captures the emotions and the views of both commander and the public. an emotional roller coaster.
necrostar - rabbit kills it with the sexy deep, scary lyrics. necrostar cant help but to sound sultry as he describes how he is the one to destroy humanity
steamjunk - the perfect opener for winks arc. lost, but hopeful. i love the progression of the song and the chorus.
the pulls - ive never loved a waltz so much. morbid lyrics sung beautifully and calmly toward you. so strange that hatchworth sings low, but i wouldnt have it any other way
whale song - oh so, so cute. oh my gosh. so. cute. rabbit is just teeth rottingly adorable and im so glad we get to hear her take center stage on her accordion. i love the conversation of them just starting a song on the fly.
the vice does tight - harmonies! scary, and set the mood of the impending doom. i love how the lyrics flow and adore how the singers switch
where i left you - saddening, but in the longing sense. hatchworths voice is back to the countertenor were used to.
wink the satellite - hatchworth and wink are just too cute. i love the speaking parts.
fire fire - a lovely song, that is until you realize what its about. this guy just does not have good luck. loses a lot of the emotion of the live performance, but it works to separate the graphic scenes from the audience. back ups make the song. the pinao crawling up the scales gives me chills.
soliton - a love song in its core. love the build up to the chorus. i love when cosmic sings as well! because she loves the astronaut too.
burning in the stratosphere - short and sweet. i love the suspense and build of the countdown and the irony.
star valley night - i love the off key sort of singing for some reason. the up and downs are wrong in all the right ways. cute silly lyrics from all the bots.
starburner - a cute, up beat song. maybe wishing on stars isnt a good idea, but the conversations in this song make this song cute. more spine crying plz
starlight star shine - love that acoustic guitar, especially since so much of this album is synthesized and electronic. a charming love song.
the space giant - i love the conversations that take place in this song. the story progression and especially the part where their blasting off of earth are great.
over the moon - catchy and sweet. the chorus is my favorite part.
sky sharks - not really a fan of professor elemental, but i love the silliness of the song. strange things are happening but its so silly and presented silly. song gets dated with a 50 shades of grey reference.
hold me - sad, but lovely. the verses are cute.
gg the giraffe - cute lyrics! gg introduces herself and expects only gratitude for existing. gg voice is meant to be obnoxious however and makes the song a little hard to bear.
steam world heist (not including remakes of the songs)
what we need are some heroes - i fell in love with this song at first listen. such a depressed world, but hope is always on the horizon. im always a sucker for the spines voice. “forever and a day” always hits me hard for some reason. the chorus is so hopeful.
the red queen - grew on me. originally i was upset things payed into a red queen sense, but the sharp noises vocals and robotic laughing, well, that grows on a person. i loved all the staticy distorted noises.
the vast frontier - so chilling, hatchworth returns with his slightly morbid lyrics and wonderfully written music.
star scrap - another song i cant help but to sing with. a bit depressing, but fits the mood of the album. i love the ending
the stars - i love how space western this song is. back to the old roots, perhaps. again, im at the mercy of spines wonderful vocals. hatchworths verse is silly and cute and im not even mad it breaks the song up
prepare for boarding - i love the shifts in this song, they all work well to make the song interesting.
quintessential
only human - this song never fails to make me smile. hatchworth can sing and help me as much as he wants. sigh. he just wants things to be easier and better for us. i love the other robots interjections, but hatchworth is the real star of the show.
the ballad of delilah morreo - the rapid one right after the other beat of the lyrics and music make me love this song so much. the chorus is killer. “bat and beast and wolf and spider” always gets stuck in my head
overdrive - i love the echo that the band sings. everyone is so great in this song. hatchworth has the greatest lines but once the beat drops, oh boy. those harmonies. reminds you how robotic they are without being the same robotic they were in the first few albums. theyve been refined and fixed up. maybe not the biggest fan of the rap.
malfunction - this song can hit close to home. a different take on being wrong than something like wired wrong, but this one chooses to embrace those malfunctions. the chorus is lovely
photographic memories - maybe a bit slow at points, but sets up this new lover the spine seems to infatuated with. this isnt some fling, this is someone he wanted to spend his life with. the verses make the song, but the chorus doesnt holdout. the music in between verse keep you interested and the subtle changes keep you on your toes as the song shifts.
i dont have a name for it - such a charming, cute love song. i absolutely adore when the bots switch off singing words and parts of words. that up and down of their voices hits me just right.
sleep evil sleep - the lyrics are dreamy, but solidify in just the right moments. this song is about taking a break from the awfulness, just for one night.
blue portals - the chorus really keeps with you, another song where hatchworth just wants to do good, although this lets you see his more chaotic side.
salgexicon - honestly i still cant believe they made their dnd characters part of the spg lore. among hero songs, this one is pretty memorable, even if its cluttered with so many characters. the chorus gets stuck in your head, but the verses are what keep me interested. im glad salgexicon cries a lot but is still heroic.
leopold exeditus - i absolutely love the music that accompanies the song. the chorus is great and i love the divergence in the middle. “mozambique” is the best word ive ever heard get sung ever.
dream machine - a lovely closing piece, now that the evil sleeps, she can sleep and dream. seems almost like amsr during the verses.
love world of love - the beginning lyrics are my favorite, which make up for the repetitive chorus.

UPDATE: Oregon Reach Code for Tiny Houses
Two years ago, Oregon tiny house advocates were embroiled in a fight with the Oregon Building Codes Division (BCD). The BCD director was actively working to stymie the governor’s directive to create a building code for tiny houses, drawing from the International Residential Code (IRC) Appendix Q. What’s more, he made changes to existing RV rules with the malicious intent of blocking any acceptance of movable tiny houses. For two years, dedicated advocates rallied tremendous local municipal and state-level support to reverse the BCD’s undermining. The results were tremendously positive. HUGE kudos to dedicated folks behind Tiny House Build, SquareOne Villages, and the Oregon Chapter of the American Tiny House Association!
Read my post from February 2018 for a better understanding of the past Oregon tiny house legislation struggle.
In a win for tiny house enthusiasts, dwellers and builders in Oregon, the State of Oregon Building Codes Division has adopted a tiny-friendly 2018 Reach Code. Effective September 20, 2018, the new Reach Code includes a tiny house section that provides a pathway for legalization for fixed foundation and movable tiny houses.
American Tiny House Association
The new Oregon Reach Code is a voluntary set of standards with a section dedicated tiny houses. These are can be utilized in place of standard state building codes, by a DIY or pro-builder. It requires building officials to accept structures built to it. The Reach Code includes an option for following the 2018 IRC Tiny House Appendix Q, for tiny houses built on foundation, which allows for lower ceiling height limits and sleeping loft access by ladder. It also includes a section for movable tiny houses, aka tiny houses on wheels, allowing for temporary RV-type electrical and plumbing connections. Perhaps the best bit of the new code is this: local building officials have the authority to waive or reduce some of the requirements, when deemed reasonable and when there is no imminent threat to public safety. They are not allowed to impose additional requirements beyond what is included in the Reach Code. Though cities can opt out, and it exempts any municipalities that have previously adopted zoning codes that exclude tiny houses.

Many thanks to TH advocate Sen. James Manning for stopping by for a TH tour! I want to thank Michael Johnson of 121 Tiny…

The Reach Code tiny house definitions, in a nutshell:
Group R-3: A permanent one-family dwelling of 400 sq. ft. or less that will be permanently anchored to the ground. These structures are able to follow the 2018 IRC with Appendix Q, which allows for ladder access to sleeping lofts and reduced ceiling height limits. It requires permanent utility connections and fixtures as defined by standard plumbing and electrical code.

Group R-5: A wheeled residential or recreational structure 400 sq. ft. or less. These structures must be built on a trailer and have temporary RV-type electrical and plumbing connections, and are limited to temporary living quarters for seasonal or emergency use, or as allowed by the building official.
The duration of stay may be determined by local ordinance, except for those located in an RV, manufactured housing, or transitional housing parks. In which case, they may not be limited in use or period of stay, unless otherwise addressed in local land use and planning. It also allows for R-5 wheeled structures to be converted to R-3 on foundation structures, if the structure is permanently anchored to the ground, as well as plumbing and electrical connections. For more specifics, see the full Reach Code.
Read the Complete 2018 Oregon Reach Code
While the Oregon Reach Code is a game changer for tiny living in Oregon, it doesn’t solve all the issues for tiny house placement. For instance, the case for movable tiny houses as accessory dwelling units (ADUs) still needs to be made city by city, county by county. On the upside, tiny houses are now legitimized in the eyes of the state. The land use and zoning process should be extremely expedited because of the new building guidelines, especially in comparison to states with no available statewide tiny house code. Hopefully, that will be the case in Bend, OR, where a young family was recently told they had a mere ten days to vacate their tiny house on wheels. Most likely a complaint was made by a neighbor because this is how most code enforcement happens. Any complaint means action. You can read more about the story from the local newspaper here.
The family built a beautiful tiny home and parked it behind a small house that they purchased in Bend, where they lived peacefully for a year. They rented rooms out of that foundation-based house at affordable rates for veterans. The father, Steve Bryant, is a veteran himself.  His family has been providing a much-needed service for their community. Bend housing stock is limited, especially affordable units. After the city code enforcers told the Bryant family to vacate their THOW or face daily fines, they are all now cramming into one room in the big house. The family is determined to fight the eviction, and just yesterday attended a city council meeting to discuss their situation.
Council meeting seemed like it went well tonight. I would like to thank the council, mayor pro-temp, and mayor for listening and trying to fit the issue into their busy schedule. They didn’t like hearing no due process or official eviction notice. Thank you all for your support, and I will keep you updated. Code change will take discussion and time, but they are having the conversation!
Steve Bryant, the tiny homeowner
While the process will take time, I hope the city considers granting the family a temporary allowance to stay in their tiny home, while they work towards a longer-term, city-wide solution. I recently wrote about a similar situation in Boulder, where a college student was evicted but was able to return to his THOW.
Are you in the process of building a tiny house to the Oregon Reach Code?

  Announcement
Adam: Alright, let me know when we’re live.
Bradley: You’re live.
Adam: Outstanding. Well, thank you everyone for joining us and welcome to Hump Day Hangout episdoe 216. We are live. I am on the road, a little bit of the family holiday travel with some last minute stuff so that’s why I’m in the car on my phone, but also now we’ve got a different lineup here. We get to go in a different direction so let’s start with Hernan. How’s it going man?
Hernan: Hey, man. Good. I wasn’t expecting to be first but good man. I just envy you a little bit that you get to live the laptop lifestyle, internet lifestyle and whatnot and get to stay home working. But I’m good. I’m really excited. I’m really excited to being here.
Adam: Yeah, so this is good. The family’s inside getting a beer and I’m sitting in the car on a webinar, but I’m happy to be here. After I wrap this up I’m going to go join them, get some lunch, and I think we’re going to do some hiking. We’re on the California coast so yeah, I [inaudible 00:00:55]. Bradley, how you doing?
Bradley: I’m well, how are you?
Adam: I’m good. Things are good man. I don’t know, yeah.
Bradley: It’s been crazy because of the holiday, obviously. I took several days off for to spend with family which I hope many of you did as well. But now I’m ready to get back to it. I’m not even waiting until 2019. I feel like it’s 2019 already in that we’ve got so much that we’re working on as far as building out the GMB lead gen assets and we’re really looking to scale over the next few weeks. I’ve got a second VA in training for doing all the build out processes and she’s coming along nicely and we’re going to be at the point …
My teams will be at the point where we should be able to optimize fully 10 assets per week, which is going to be awesome because … Then we’re going to start training a third VA so sometime in January guys we may have that as a service available for you all as well inside of MGYB. Don’t have a date for that yet but we’re working on it so stay tuned.
Adam: Outstanding. Marco how you doing? Did you have a good Christmas?
Marco: What’s up dude? Yeah, yeah. It was fabulous. We went and delivered Christmas presents for the kids in the charity. We delivered Christmas meals. We had their Christmas party and then between all that had time for dinner and lots of family time so it was just a great time.
Adam: Good, good, good. Chris, how about you. What were you up to?
Chris: Yeah, I was with the family here. The only disappointing thing was pretty much that on the 22 all the snow melted away and yet again another warm Christmas here. Unfortunately no white Christmas but other than that was quite good. Like to be with family and see everybody again and, yeah. It’s for 2019 already. As Bradly said we’re working hardly on the good stuff already.
Adam: Nice, nice. Nice. Well let’s get into it real quick. I just wanted to say, if you’re joining us for the first time that’s amazing. Thank you for spending the day after Christmas with us, but if you’re wondering where to get started with us the place we always recommend people to get started is to go to battleplan.semanticmastery.com. Get started there. Grab the battle plan for repeatable processes. That covers a ton of areas. Not going to go into it, but if you’re looking for a good place to start, start there.
Then keep coming back to the Hump Day Hangouts. If you can catch them live, that’s great. Get your questions in ahead of time. Catch them on YouTube, whatever works best for you. Then the next thing we tell people is if you’re looking to take things up a few notches, if you want to grow your peer group, you want a network, you want the pathway to really start growing, the Mastermind is the place to do that and we wanted to take a few minutes and talk to you guys about some of the updates that we’ve had.
Both the way we structure the Mastermind and the way we’re going to do things moving forward. Part of this wraps into some bigger stuff but you’ve heard us talk about the [inaudible 00:04:05] path and what we’re doing with that and want to be explicit that there’s two paths. Not everybody is going to take the same path achieving their [inaudible 00:04:17]. You might already be, you might have an agency. You might already have clients.
Some people don’t though and they’re looking for ways to do that and we really recognize that and thought that, that’s really important that those people have maybe the same goal but they’re going to take a different path to get there. Hernan you want to add anything to that?
Hernan: Yeah, definitely, and first off I really like this part of the year because of the fact that we get to do this which is awesome. But also, yeah, we actually found out that there’s like two types of people that join [inaudible 00:04:49]. There’s the type of person of the entrepreneur, the digital marketer that’s just starting out. He might or might not have a 9 to 5 job and he wants to get more sales, more leads.
He wants a way to get out of that 9 to 5 and start being his own boss. That’s like path A, if you would. Path B, there’s a lot of people that join [inaudible 00:05:10] and the Mastermind specifically because they want … They already have a couple clients, they might have a team in place and they want more. They want to scale. Things are going well and they want things to go better.
Those are the two paths that we have developed for 2019. You get specific training depending on what’s your position right now because each of those people will have different hopefuls right. The main point is that if you’re wanting to get off your 9 to 5 job, be your own boss, start your own local marketing agency, start getting your first couple of clients or maybe get a proven process like local GMB and whatnot.
We have a path for you. We have training specifically to sign for you. Now if you’re in the other hand where you already see something come and you can reinvest on your business, you want to grow your team now. It’s the time to take you out of the equation so that you can, A, scale faster and, B, start actually reaping the rewards of that [inaudible 00:06:15] have been putting on so you can spend more time with your family.
More time doing what you love. That’s another set of skills all together. The point is that we want to give you guys what you guys need. We have been developing a lot of content. Bradly, specifically, has been developing a lot of content over the past couple of years. Now is the time that we have decided to put an order to that so that depending on where you’re starting right now you can start right now and get specific action points that you can take today to actually take it to where you want to be.
Adam: Yeah, definitely. Definitely, and yeah like what Hernan said we’ve done that and right now we’re doing that over a 60 day path. Whichever one fits you the best and we’ve got that set up so that really it can guide you through because that’s really crucial time because we want you to get the most out of it immediately. We think, depending on where you’re at, it could be that the peer group is the most valuable thing but we want to make sure that if you want to grow, you can grow.
If you want to start, you can start. We know that there’s people in both camps, and getting you the results you want is our goal. That’s how we measure our success is by when people join the Mastermind and they experience that growth, or they get that first client. That’s the most important thing. We’ve really structured that in a way that helps walk you through those steps so that you can get going quickly and it’s not ambiguous as far as well, “Should I go here or here?”
There’s no questions, it’s go here, do this, and you’re going to see these results.
Hernan: Yeah, and if I can add one last thing it’s the fact that by this time of the year we know for sure that a lot of people want to try the Mastermind but they are on the fence. Right now you have an opportunity. A really limited opportunity because we only open this for a couple days. Is to get on the Mastermind for just one dollar. The one dollar trial. You get access to, tomorrow’s going to be the Mastermind webinar so you get access to experience a full in-depth, Bradley style of webinar that’s reserved only for the Mastermind.
You also get to talk to one of us for 30 minutes. You get one on one consulting for it’s just one dollar. Which is pretty cool, and we do this because the reality is that most people that take us on the trial will actually stay as a member because of the value that you can experience hands on when joining the Mastermind. Not only the training, but also the coaching, the followup, and the support that we give to each and every Mastermind member.
We know that training is awesome, but what happens if you’re implementing and you get stuck, or maybe you pass it on to a VA and he doesn’t, she doesn’t know how to do that. That’s why we have the private community and I would say that there’s over 10,000 dollars worth of training that you get just for joining the Mastermind. You get access to the biweekly calls, you get access to the members area.
Which is getting a revamp as well. You get access to the community where you can ask any type of question. We’re really active there. If we are not active in any other Facebook group, we’re really active in the Mastermind because we think and we feel that we’re responsible for the success of each student that comes to us. Take it, the link is on the events page right now, so go ahead and take it.
It’s a wonderful trial. It’s really, really limited. We can only take so many people. During this season, so go ahead take it and come and see for yourself.
Marco: One last thing. That was great Hernan, thank you. But help us just keep doing these Hump Day Hangouts and help keep them free. Go subscribe to our channel. Go through the videos, like the videos. Please interact with the channel. That’s how we’re able to keep this going. I mean, where are we? I forgot which one this is today but there’s a whole lot of them.
Adam: Definitely, and as far as the Mastermind and anything going on with that. Chris and Bradley, me and Hernan had a lot to say about it. I realize that, but do you guys have anything you want to chime in or anything you want people to know about it?
Bradley: Yeah, it’s awesome. Come join us.
Adam: Where the cool kids are.
Bradley: Yeah, I mean. Excuse me. I’ve been working on, Google my business stuff for several months now, and our [inaudible 00:10:41] live which was our live event that we hosted. Our first one in October, we had about a dozen or so of those members that came to our live event that are also building out in scaling, they’re lead gen asset building which is what I’ve been doing.
We’re working as a small group to develop the processes out and it’s great because if any of you guys were on the local lease pro update webinar from last week you know that, like I’m terrible using excel and things like that. It’s just, it’s a lot of … I’m not very good at using excel and working out how to make things more efficient.
I’m real good at finding data and figuring out how to make money from that which is what we’re doing with the GMB stuff. But as far as my processes have been rather crude or bulky because I don’t know how to do a lot of stuff to make it efficient which is great because the little group, the small group that I’m in with the members that are helping me to build these processes out. A lot of sharp people in that group and some of them, like Chris G. for example.
Chris Greenhow, he’s our support manager, he’s in the group as well as Grant. Grant’s another person that’s in the group that’s been helping develop out these spreadsheets that do, like pull in all the data with all the stuff that I’ve been doing manually and I trained my virtual assistants to do manually. They’re creating these tools to make stuff so much more efficient.
Where literally you just plug in a little bit of data and the spreadsheet does all the work and goes out and scrapes the data from the websites and all that and pulls it in. It’s absolutely amazing what these guys have been able to do which is going to streamline our processes even more. That’s the stuff that we start to reveal in the Mastermind as we get more … We refine these processes or polish these processes more.
Then that’s when I start sharing them in the Mastermind, and so that’s why it’s beneficial to be part of it guys because we talk about bits and pieces of it on Hump Day Hangouts. We also have courses like local lease pro, for example. Which will teach you the method, but it’s not going to teach you how to scale it. It’s not going to teach you how to develop the processes on your own. I mean, we have another product we call outsource kingpin, which will teach you how to develop your own processes if you’d like.
Or, you could come join the Mastermind and let us develop the processes for you and we’ll share with you what we’ve done and what we have developed which will save you a ton of time. I know people look at the price tag of the Mastermind at 297 a month and say, “Oh wow, I can’t afford that.” Well how many JV Zoo products did you buy in the last month?
How many WordPress plugins did you buy? How many video creation software tools did you buy in the last month? You stop buying all this stuff that probably really isn’t making you any money and you can start to apply it to something that can make you money and Mastermind itself won’t make you money. You have to apply what you learn but that’s what we try to do is provide our members with as much training and the resources possible to where it’s the least amount of work as possible.
That’s part of what’s going to be coming a lot, over the next several months in the Mastermind as we really refine these processes for developing or scaling our lead gen asset building. We’re going to be sharing a lot of that in the Mastermind. Again, guys, I know 2019 is right around the corner, make it a good investment in yourself and I would highly encourage you to stop buying all the shit that doesn’t really add to your bottom line.
If anything buying products and tools, and stuff like that actually detracts from your overall business because it’s a distraction. It takes money out of your pocket. It takes time to learn how to use or to apply. Which, let’s be honest, how many of you actually use everything that you buy? I certainly don’t so my point is I would reconsider what your goals are for 2019 and really think about it and if you want to do something that can really generate some business or some revenue for your business, excuse me, I would consider getting into local lead gen and asset building right now while the opportunity is hot.
The Mastermind is a really good place to be if you want to do that. Anybody else want to comment on it?
Adam: Yeah, just to say, one, I totally agree with what Bradly said and also the community. Building that network. Something we’ve helped our Mastermind members do is to get together in small groups so that you can really dive deep into these areas that you’re interested in and the power in that is incredible as well as the larger network of the Mastermind as well.
Like Hernan said, the link is there. The link is below if you want to join. Give it, the trial, it’s only available for a few days. We have a very limited number, but we will make sure that we will hop on. Get you an onboarding call. Get you pointed in the right direction and make sure that this is the best place it can be for you.
Bradley: Alright, if you guys are cool, I’m going to jump in.
Adam: Real quick, though. I did want to mention, Bradley, before we get started. We’re in the middle now of the MGYB [inaudible 00:15:42] services holiday sale. You guys don’t want to miss out on that. I think Hernan hopefully took care of it for me and put a link up on that as well. Thank you, thank you. We’ve got some kickass sales going on. Check that out. That’s going to end, though, on New Years Eve. Don’t let that go by too long.
I think there’s a question on it, right, the very first question so I’ll just let us answer that and that’s a part of it but, yeah, go check those out.
Bradley: Yeah, I was going to read this question and have you answer it because I’m not sure what our … I don’t run the store, guys. Just so you know, because I know I get private messages occasionally about stuff from the store and I always just say, “Just contact support,” because I don’t know. I don’t run the store guys so I apologize for that but Jason, what’s up Jason? Long time member.
Is There A Limit To The Number Of Verified GMBs One Can Buy At The Said 50% Discount Before December 31, 2018?
He says, “Is there a limit to the verified GMB’s we can buy at a 50% discount before December 31st? If I buy say, 20, today can I spread them out over a couple weeks to get the listings assigned to the niche?” Who wants to answer that?
Adam: Yeah, as far as I know it shouldn’t be a problem. Jason go ahead, and if anybody else wants to take advantage we do have a limit. We can’t let you hold onto those indefinitely, but if you’re ever … If you’re thinking it might be more than a month or something, just contact us. [email protected] and hit us up and we’ll make sure it’s clear before so that there’s no issues. But, yeah, Jason that shouldn’t be a problem.
Marco: Yeah, well what we don’t want is people waiting 90 days, or 6 months, or whatever before they submit the information. But Jason, yes, of course. Go buy and then later on when you have all of your data and everything together send us the information. Just please, if you think it’s going to take four, maybe five, six weeks, then you have to let us know.
That’s something we have to know so we know what to expect. By all means, you don’t have to go in, buy them, and submit all the information right away.
Should You Keep Advertising Video Ads On A Separate Channel To Avoid Having 5-Second Views On Your Main Channel?
Bradley: Very good. Alright, next, Greg’s up. What’s up Greg? He says, “I plan to use a brand new video for YouTube ads, will it be a negative for the video and my new YouTube channel when my video has a lot of five-second views as people click out of the ad? I think Justin Sardi mentioned in his video ads training that he puts his advertising videos on a separate channel to avoid the short views being associated with his main channel. This is my first time using a video for YouTube ads, do you have any tips?”
Okay, so first of all, I’ve never heard of that being an issue or causing an issue. In fact, one of my primary methods for ranking YouTube videos in Google search is by setting up YouTube ads or Google ads for YouTube. It’s a great, great way for ranking local videos because you can literally buy engagement signals from Google. Google says you’re not allowed to buy views, but you can buy views from Google and that’s on the ads platform.
One of the ways, and I’ve talked about this many, many times on Hump Day Hangouts guys. It’s been a trick up my sleeve for a long time for ranking local videos or videos with local keywords, right, for local keywords. The reason why is because you can go in and set up an in stream ad, those are the ads that play before as a preroll ad. They play before the video that the viewer intended to watch. Your ad can play in front of that. You guys are all familiar with that.
What you can do with a local video is, and I do this all the time guys, is I create my, or set my geographic targeting very specifically. It could be a radius from a specific point or I could set zip codes or city names, or county names, or state, or whatever I want. But typically what I do is whatever the service area is for the business. If it’s a service area business, I will set that geographic targeting. It might be a 30 mile radius or it might be two counties or something like that. First I set my geographic targeting and then I set my topic targeting or what they call audience targeting.
If you can find an in market audience or a life event audience, and guys this is all in YouTube ads. When you’re setting up an ad it prompts you to select your audiences and your locations and all that stuff. But from audience targeting, if you can find an in market audience category that fits your niche or the product or service that you’re trying to promote, then use that or a life event audience. That also works really well. You can do topic targeting if you can’t find a good life event or in market audience, you can do topic targeting.
Although, that’s not as … It doesn’t typically work as well. You can also do keyword targeting. Keyword targeting is done, is very different in YouTube than just doing search ads or whatever but the whole reason why I’m telling you all this is because I’ve been using local or ranking local videos using YouTube ads for a long time because I’m buying clicks from … Geo-targeted clicks. Excuse me, I’m buying geo-targeted clicks and if I get my topic or audience targeting, my audience targeting right, then those people especially using in market or life event audiences as I just mentioned.
Those people are known to Google to be in the market or actively searching recently for those types of products and/or services. A click from the location that you specify, which would be a local IP click or view, I should say. Plus from somebody that is known to Google to be in market for that particular product or service, then that is a heavily weighted view. In other words that view is going to count a hell of a lot more than a view from somebody for states away that has been just perusing funny cat videos all day. Does that make sense?
My point is those types of views are very, very weighted and whether somebody clicks to skip the ad or not, it doesn’t matter. It still registers as a view and so all of the videos that I rank for local clients as well as for video production companies and such, I have YouTube ads running for every single one of them, guys. Every single one of them and again the views are typically not very much as Greg’s mentioning here. Like five seconds or so, well that’s not necessarily true because most of the videos that I use, or the local videos that I’m doing this method with are one minute long videos.
They’re roughly a minute and what it shows is that the engagement rate is typically if you can find a good in market or life event audience, I’m seeing an average of 40% view rate. In other words, people will watch up to roughly 25 – 30 seconds of the ad, of the video, before they click off. That just goes to show you, if you can set your geographic targeting and your audience targeting correctly then that’s really all you need. Here’s the thing guys, like if you’re setting targeting for topic targeting, for example, then that would be … Like let’s just say it’s for roofing services.
Okay, which by the way, that’s an in market audience. It’s a great audience for that if you’re doing any type of roofing contractor, lead gen for roofing contractors or anything like that. This is a great strategy guys, but if you can set your geographic targeting and inset the in market audience to somebody, only people that have been recently researching roofing services and looking for roofing contractors, okay. Then what happens is, it doesn’t matter what video that searcher is no YouTube looking for they could be just on there searching for stupid cat videos.
But because Google, first of all they’re geographically located in the area that we set, and second of all Google knows that they have recently been searching for roofing contractors, then my video could play in front of that stupid cat video for roofing contractors even though it’s not, it’s an unrelated topic. Google already knows that searcher, that YouTube user has been in market for that and they fit the criteria we set within our targeting.
That view, even if they click off it within five seconds, it still registers as a view and it’s a heavily weighted view because Google knows who that person is and what their profile was about, right. They’re likely to be interested in that content so again, I have never heard of that five second thing being a problem because all of the ads that I run, they just go through my standard YouTube channel that I have connected to a ton of syndication networks and all that stuff.
But, like I said, standard operating procedure for me is any time I’m trying to rank a local video in Google search, I also set up ads and again with proper targeting sometimes those … I’m only doing it for SEO purposes. Let’s be very clear. I set up the ads to help rank the video, however with proper targeting some of those clicks you will get, or views you will get from the ads, will actually convert. You’ll get some clicks, not many, so you’re trying to get the view count up. You will get some clicks and then out of those clicks occasionally, again, if you can get your targeting very, very narrow. Very tight, so that it’s super relevant some of those clicks will end up converting too.
Again, I’ve not heard of this five second thing. I’ve not experienced that. I use the same method that I just method, again, for a standard operating procedure guys. Every single time I go to rank a video for a local client now or for lead gen or anything, I push it through my channel with all of my syndication networks attached and then I set up a YouTube ad. That’s how most of my videos stay ranked is because I set up a dollar a day targeting, or budget, excuse me. A dollar a day budget and after a couple of weeks I actually start backing my budget down and my maximum cost per view bid until I get down to about two to three cents per view and then I have my budget down to 50 cents per day, guys.
That turns out to be 15 dollars a month to maintain a video on the first page of Google using the ads, Google ads network. Again, Greg, if you want to follow Justin Sardi’s training. I know he’s great at YouTube ad stuff, and that’s perfectly fine. I actually recommend him for YouTube ads training, but when it comes to SEO stuff I don’t see it being any issue and I’ve not experienced that as a problem. That was a good question though. I don’t assume anybody else wants to comment on that. Do you?
Hernan: Go it.
Is There A Benefit Of Creating And Building RYS Stacks In GSuite?
Bradley: Okay. Jeff’s up. He says, “For the purpose of building an out RYS stacks is there any benefit to creating an account in G-Suite and building a stack there?” Let’s see. Has an account for [email protected] SM does their magic in this account versus going through the process of creating an [inaudible 00:26:48]. Yes, Jeff, obviously there’s … In my opinion, and I’m sure Marco will agree. Any time that you can do things to help validate the account, it’s going to help improve your chances with Google.
For example, using a G-Suite account with your own custom domain, email, and all of that stuff, you’re paying Google and so Google now has a billing details associated with that account. It just ads more … 30. It ads more validity, I guess you could say. It validates the entity further for Google and so, in my opinion, yeah. Now, I don’t recommend you guys go out and set up G-Suite accounts for each individual lead gen asset you have because that could get rather expensive. But for setting up RYS stacks, I know having a G-Suite account doing it under that could help, but Marco, what do you say?
Marco: I always tell people to pay Google as part of the process. It’s in the black book. It’s in the done for you users guide. That’s what’s recommended. Go pay Google and you get rewarded. Now, whether directly, indirectly, how ever it is that it happens, Google stops seeing you as a leech and starts seeing you as a paying client. This is just my theory so that when time comes for the bot to look through everything, the first thing that it’s going to look at is are we going to be messing with a customer, with a paying client, or are we going to be messing with a leech.
I think they’d rather mess with a leech than a paying client, push comes to shove, and then they might come back and start looking at other things. It’s not something that I know for sure because I don’t work for Google but it’s something that we’ve seen time after time. That the more that we get into Google, the more we pay Google ads, YouTube ads, inside Google, extra drive space. They have your credit card on file. They see everything and so that seems to work really well. You don’t even have to create that for us. We can create the Google stack with the Gmail account and you can just make yourself whatever your G-Suite account is the owner of that drive stack.
I mean, you don’t even have to go through all that.
Bradley: To clarify that for Jeff, what Marco was saying was for example, you could purchase a done for you drive stack from us and then once you get it delivered, once we deliver it to you, then you could have your G-Suite account. You add your G-Suite account as a manager and then assign ownership to it. I’m thinking of GMB stuff but it’s pretty much the same process. You would give editing permissions to your G-Suite account and then you could assign ownership to that as well so that your G-Suite account takes ownership of it and it’s not the free Google account anymore at that point.
How Would You Use A Google Stack For An ECommerce Site?
It’s not something that you have to provide on the front end, is what we’re saying. Okay. Alright, so thanks Marco. Armand, it’s been a while since you’ve posted. What’s up Armand. He says, “What’s up you awesome ass dudes. Love you guys. We should all get married. Anyway, question: how would you use a Google stack for an eCommerce site?” That’s a good question for Marco. I can’t answer it because I just don’t do eComm, and number two is, “Are Google stacks as effective as they were years ago?” I can answer that one but first Marco start with the eCommerce. Can you provide any insight?
Marco: Yeah, absolutely. People shouldn’t get boxed in. We talk a lot about local but that’s because most of our people are oriented towards local marketing anyway but we always say this. You’re local is only limited by what you want your local to be. If you want your local to be the city or the neighborhood that you’re in, that’s your local. But what if you make it your city? What if you make it the county or the state, or the US? I don’t know if you’re in the US Armand.
I’m just guessing that you are, or in the case of eCommerce what if you make it global? The only thing that changes is the way that we create relationships and that’s something that’s taught inside our YS academy. I’m not going to teach it here. Now, it’s not ready yet, but we have something awesome coming up for RYS academy reloaded. It should be ready in the next two, maybe three months, and it’s specifically targeted for those people who want to make their local whatever it is that they want it to be. That’s what it’s going to be geared towards.
If you want to make it your neighborhood, the city, county, state, nation, global. You’re going to be able to do it and that’s what we’re going in the lab and we’re going to be working on that.
Are Google Stacks As Effective As They Were Years Ago?
Bradley: You go. Question two, “Are Google stacks as effective as they were years ago?” Yeah, they are Armand. I mean, you got … Here’s the thing. There still every bit as effective, it’s just there’s different signals now that Google’s looking for than they were when we first, when Marco really first discovered this. Here, what I’m saying is guys a lot has changed over the last … How long’s RYS been out? Three years now?
Marco: In August it’ll be four years.
Bradley: Yeah, so it’s been just over three years now and so a lot has changed in three years as far as what moves the needle and that kind of stuff. The combination of what Google’s looking at overall has changed. We know that drive stack still helped to move the needle. Is it the be all, end all? No, of course not. In some cases it may be, but again those results are not typical. Like, for example, I showed the Virginia SEO, the first drive stack that I ever built which isn’t even up to our standards today and it’s still outranking other SEO, Virginia SEO companies.
That one is one of those types where I haven’t done anything to it and it just ranked and it just has stayed ranked since May of 2015. We’re talking 3.5 years now that things been ranked which is crazy, and I haven’t done anything to it. But that’s, again, results aren’t typical. In some cases you will see that but in other cases it’s going to require more stuff, additional signals. A lot of variables go into whether or not the drive stack’s going to be enough to produce the results you want. Competitiveness, what is your competition.
How many other index pages are there covering, targeting those keywords that you’re targeting. All that kind of stuff goes into it. Are they as powerful, as effective as they used to be? Yes. But, you still have to add other things into them and there’s a lot … For example, we know that proximity right now is a huge thing which three years ago when RYS was … When Marco first developed the RYS method, that wasn’t nearly as important as it is right now.
If you’re doing local, I know you’re talking about eCommerce, but if you were doing local RYS stacks can be very, very effective to push additional local relevancy as well as topical relevancy and in your case, as an eCommerce site you can use drive stacks to push topical relevancy into, say, category pages for whatever it is that you’re selling. I know that there’s a lot that can be done with an RYS stack even to eCommerce. Like I said, I don’t do eCommerce so I can’t really provide any insight on that but yes Google stacks are just as effective as they were a few years ago.
But it’s not, it’s just only part of the overall pie that you need in order to rank something, in my opinion. Marco, comment on that one as well please?
Marco: Yeah, absolutely. One of the main things that you need with this is entity, right. But people talk about entities and they don’t really know what’s what. On January 14th at 3:00 pm eastern as part of our charity drive again. Anyone who donates to the charity will get into that webinar and they will get access to the previous two webinars, and Armand if you didn’t watch the two previous webinars and if you don’t know anything about entities. If you don’t have the black book and if you don’t have the done for you users guide, and even if you do I suggest that you watch the previous two webinars.
I suggest that you, when we mail our list, that you donate and that you attend the webinar because this is exactly what I’ll be getting into. I’ll be getting into the differences on whether you’re working local or if you’re working … Well, not if you’re working local. How the entity needs to be treated differently depending on what your local is.
Bradley: That’s it. Okay, next is Lorie. What’s up Lorie? I haven’t seen her in a while. She was a former Mastermind member. She ended up resigning from the Mastermind, or left the Mastermind recently because she took on a job that she’d been looking for, for a long time. Which was really, really awesome. Congratulations on that Lorie. We definitely miss you in the Mastermind, but thanks for stopping by. You’re always welcome to come ask questions here. You know that.
Are Your Syndication Networks Set Up So That Every New Post Syndicates Through Them?
Shane’s up. He says, “Are your syndication networks set up so that every new post syndicates through them?” Yes Shane. That’s the whole point. Yes, absolutely. If you provide the RSS feed, we will connect everything for you so that every time you post a blog post it will syndicate through the network. That’s what they’re intention is. That’s what they’re intended to do is syndication networks to syndicate content. It’s for content amplification. Okay, that’s exactly what they do.
Is It Okay To Set One Of Your Syndication Networks, RYS Stacks & Press Release Orders In Motion Before Launching The HTTPS Version Of The Site?
“Also, I’m working on an HTTPS version of a website for a client that hasn’t switched over from the HTTP version yet, but it will soon. Is it okay to set one of your syndication networks, RYS stacks, and press release orders in motion before actually launch?” Yeah, that’s fine Shane. Just what I would do is with your order, just include or use the HTTPS version of the URL so that when the products are completed and we deliver them to you, nobody has to go, including you, doesn’t have to go back in and edit them to add HTTPS.
Besides, remember, if it’s with WordPress typically you use a plugin like easy SSL or something like that. There’s several different types of plugins or HTTPS redirection’s another one of them, which will automatically add, will set up a redirect so anybody that’s visiting the HTTP version will be forced onto the HTTPS version. Okay, that’s normal stuff. There’s plugins that do that. You can do that via HT access. If you’re using cloud flare you can use what they call page rules.
There’s a number of ways to do that and so it really doesn’t matter. Even if you had HTTP as the URL in your drive stack, for example, once you go HTTPS everything will be forced onto the HTTPS anyways so it’s not that big of a deal. But what I would recommend is that you place your order with the HTTPS version of your URL. Just make sure that the RSS feed is indeed working on HTTPS and has at least one post because an RSS feed will be rejected by IFTTT unless it has an item contained in it.
You need to make sure that, that’s available first or else we can’t set up your network for you. Okay, but again, I would recommend just going ahead and ordering everything with the HTTPS version of the URL because you’re in the process of switching over anyways and so once you do everything will be the way that you want it and it won’t have to be edited. Which is a bunch of unnecessary work. Does that make sense?
Adam: Yup.
Is It Okay To Build Citations For The HTTPS Version Even Though It Hasn’t Launched Yet?
Bradley: Okay. “Also, is it okay to start building citations?” Yes, for the HTTPS version. Once again, because that’s what you’re going to be switching to so, yes, absolutely. Go ahead and build citations with the HTTPS version of the URL.
Marco: A word of warning to Shane since you’re switching over and I don’t know who’s doing it for you and I don’t know how. When they say that they’ve done it, go check every version of the non-HTTPS version of the website just to make sure that it was done correctly because sometimes they’ll leave one version out and it won’t redirect and then everything that we just talked about, you won’t get the benefit because, of course, it’s not redirecting over to HTTPS.
As long as it’s redirected correctly, as long as everything has the correct 301’s in place. Whether it’s HT access, whatever it is that you’re using to redirect, as long as that’s right then everything will transfer over to the SSL.
Bradley: Yeah. Yeah, and keep in mind whenever you do that switch, I’m not … I don’t know how to, like I’m not a server nerd guys and I don’t know CSS and all that stuff. I know that whenever I’ve done switching from non SSL over to SSL, I’ve had themes break. I’ve had style sheets or CSS, or whatever break, and so the sites look all funky and all that kind of stuff. Typically what I do is if I’m switching an existing site … Now, when I build a new site which is rare because I’m just building GMB websites now.
But when I do build a WordPress site, I install WordPress and immediately switch everything to HTTPS and then from that point I start building the site out. But for existing sites what I’ve always done is just gone to Upwork and found somebody … Go to Upwork and look for SSL implementation or HTTPS or something like that, or WordPress support. CSS, anything, you can look for a number of different keywords or whatever. But find somebody that can go in and clean up any messes that are made from switching over from HTTP to HTTPS because, again, unless you’re familiar with all that stuff … I’m not and I don’t want to take the time to learn how to do it.
I always just go to Upwork and I usually find somebody that’s overseas somewhere and I usually just say, “Look, I’ll pay you 50 bucks to go through this WordPress site and get everything.” Usually that’s way more, like, and that’s because I just offer it. But I know that I’ve had, in the past, when I didn’t have … When I didn’t have as much, I didn’t have as many resources, I would have people bid on it and I’d get people to say, “Yeah, I’ll do it for 20 bucks.”
20 bucks to go through the site and clean up any messes from switching over. That’s a no brainer. I mean, again, it would take me hours to research that stuff to figure out what needed to be done or I could just pay somebody 20 bucks or even 50 bucks and it’s done and it’s done well, and I don’t have to worry about it. Shane, that’s what I would recommend unless you know what you’re doing.
Do You Teach How To Verify GMBs?
Okay. “Outreach nerds, do you teach how to verify GMB’s?” No, but we do provide it as a service.
Check out MGYB.co.
Marco: Just so I can really quick to that. Listen, most people who are teaching verification methods are methods that don’t usually work.
Bradley: They don’t stick.
Marco: No, I mean, you just can’t get it or yeah, it doesn’t stick. It gets banned right away. Or, those who do know how to verify are keeping it so close to their chest that there’s no amount of money available that you could offer for us to teach you how to do it. There’s just no way because so many people can do it. Actually so few people can do it correctly, so I mean that’s just my two cents on it. Sorry, it’s not something that we’re going to teach. It’s not being taught and it will never be taught as long as I’m a member of Symantic mastery.
Bradley: Now, because here’s the thing guys. You teach something like that, how to do that, and what happens? It gets abused and it gets shut down, and that’s the problem. Why would anybody want like … You kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Why would you want to do that? I mean, think about that guys. It’s not that we’re trying to keep a strangle hold on GMB verifications. It’s not that at all, but when you put that kind of information out publicly it’s just like everything else we teach, or anybody teaches.
Not just us but you put a method out there and it ends up getting abused and spammed to death. Which is fine, I get it. That’s what we do, but eventually when it’s been circulated too much, it ends up getting terminated and it gets overused and it becomes less effective or flat out stops working all together. That’s part of the reason why. It seems to me awfully silly to be teaching how to do that because it just gets saturated and gets terminated or shut down by Google.
I would say, no. We’re never going to teach that. Alright, guys, looks we are done early. We don’t have any other questions, so unless you guys want to like hang out and sing show tunes and shit I think I’m going to wrap it up.
Hernan: I’m just putting the link to Mar and everyone else for that matter, who want to come and test drive the Mastermind. Tomorrow we have a Mastermind webinar, so it will be a good idea if you want to join. If you want to check it out, and also you will be prompt to … Let me show my camera. You will be prompt to complete a form so that we can cover the call. Your 30 minute call with one of the symantic master team.
That’s going to be pretty awesome. The link it’s under live event over there so go ahead and check it out.
Will A Google Sites’ Ability Become Diluted If You Assign A Domain Name To It?
Bradley: Yup. Another question just came in from Wayne. Wayne, what’s up buddy. Merry Christmas to you Wayne, by the way. Wayne says, “Curious if you think a Google site’s ability is diluted if you give it a domain name.” A custom domain versus keeping it on the Google URL. No, because if … And I’ve shown this in the Mastermind and I can’t assume you’ve seen all of them though. But, yeah, Google site when you map a custom domain to it, both sites are still live and available online.
In other words, you can still view the site on the Google domain as well as view it on your own custom domain. If you look, the canonical on both versions of it, the canonical is set to the custom domain. You’re still benefiting from the Google site, the Google domain because, again, the site is live on both locations. You’re just canonicalizing it and Google does this automatically.
It canonicalizes it to the custom domain, so essentially you’re just basically pushing the relevancy from the Google domain to it anyways. But both pages will remain indexible, does that make sense? Marco, do you want to comment on that?
Marco: Yeah, this is the wonderful thing about the limitations of Google and Google sites because there’s no real, like the CMS is very limited by the content management system and in order for you to continue using, whether it’s a mapped domain or the G-Site, you need access to that content management system. Google keeps it live because that’s the only way that you can manage the content is through Google CMS.
That’s why they add … Wayne, think about it. It’s perfect. It canonicalizes up to your domain so you … I don’t want to get too deep into what you can do but think of all the opportunities that you have if you have a live Google URL canonicalize up to your own custom domain.
Bradley: That’s right.
Marco: Think about that.
Bradley: Think about, I’m not going to reveal it, but just guys think about logically if you’ve got a Google site and the same exact site on a custom domain and the Google site is canonicalized to the custom domain. Which of those should be your link targets? Not going to answer that, I want you guys to think about it and answer it. You should all know the answer to that. You should use one of those as your link target, your primary link target when you’re doing external link building and there’s a reason for that.
Anyways, again, that’s one of those things. Jim says, “Do you guys not offer a power up on the stacks like it was on the prior site?” Well, yes and no. Jim we, right now we don’t have [Dedius’ 00:47:45] service in MGYB yet. It’s coming, so you can reach out to him directly if needed. Just reach out to him in one of our Facebook groups and you can go direct to him. Eventually we’re going to have him in the marketplace.
But he’s not there right now. But also, as I’ve talked about a lot recently, press releases are my primary link building method now. It’s not because Deddi is not amazing, he is, but I have access to a shit ton of press releases and I use them all the time and I love press releases for link building and we do offer that in MGYB right now and there’s … I think there’s probably specials going on right now for the Christmas sale that we have so I would check that out also.
Hernan: Yup, they’re on the page over there so I put the link so we have a page with all of the deals that we’re running right now for MGYB.
Marco: We have direct access to Deddia because we have him in our slack chat with the rest of the VA’s because they’re constantly going back and forth. Since he does all of our indexing, by the way, RYS academy reload. That’s how we get everything to index as much as possible because Deddia does it. We have direct access to him. Jim, just write to us, [email protected] and we’ll take care of you.
Bradley: There you go. Yeah, that’s why we need to get that page up sooner than later. Alright guys, I’m wrapping it up. I’ve got work to do so we’ll see you all next week. By the way Mastermind webinar tomorrow guys, if you want to join the Mastermind one dollar trial, now would be a good time so we’re going to have a good webinar tomorrow. Thanks everybody for hanging out. We’ll see you all tomorrow.
Hernan: Thank you guys. See you.
Marco: Bye everyone.

24 Things You Shouldn’t Appear Guilty For Revelling In At 24
At 24, you’re expected to have a lot figured out. Your profession, your personal relationships and your investments are suddenly all up to you to manage- and it’s a balancing act for the best of us. The truth of the matter is, we all need to indulge a few frailties in order to stay sane at twenty-four. Here got a few we need to stop hit ourselves up over.
1. Drinking wine alone.
There may not be many benefits to adulthood but this is indubitably one of them.
Youve stirred it through the years of imitation I.D.s, binge-drinking, nasty next-day hangovers and maybe even a interval or two of moderation.
Now that youve learned to( largely) administer your liquor, youre clear to enjoy it responsibly that is, alone on your couch on a Thursday evening, like young adults. Because you worked hard the coming week. And you deserve it.
2. Dating someone you dont want to marry.
By twenty-four, your Facebook photo stream is nothing but a gallery of ring finger with stones nuzzled onto them. And while the pressure to find your soulmate is seeming realer than ever, the very important to remember that you dont have to find them tomorrow.
You still have time to date around. You still have is high time to get your mettle crack. You still have time to go on bad Tinder dates, requiem over ridiculous hookups and prosecute the guy or daughter who are not able be the one, but who clears you fairly glad right now.
The more heavines you put on noticing the one, the more your sexual love will balk under the pressure. So take the possibility of being chill out, move slowly and give whatever happens, happen. You have plenty of age left to find your future partner at twenty-four years.
3. Announcing to your mummy.
Just because youre a full-blown adult who may even have things like a errand and their own suite you havent stopped being someones son or daughter. And you havent stopped necessary support from the people who know you best.
Its okay to have dates where the world feels like too much. Its okay to not have it together one hundred percent of the time. And its okay to still lean on kinfolk or sidekicks who maintain you afloat. They love you and they want to be there for you the same direction youd be there for them in an instant if they needed it.
So you binged on twenty-five dollar candles. So your living room looks just like a pinterest board but your purse took a trouncing to corroborate it. And as frivolous as those buys may seem in retrospect, its okay to establish them now and then.
Because the thing about being twenty-four is that youre transitioning between life phases. And you sometimes need to indulge in a few transitional objectives to induce yourself detect more like the adult that you are becoming.
5. Leading out and getting 21 st-birthday-style drunk.
You dont have to be completely done having fun at twenty-four.
You may not hit up the dance storey as regularly as you used to, but theres no reproach in used to go every now and then and living it up the direction you used to when you were twenty-one and twenty-two.
You have real world responsibilities now, and with that comes real-world stress. The nature you need to blow off, in whatever method works for you.
6. Missing the hell out of your ex.
Navigating life gets lonely thats an irrefutable fact , no matter how surrounded by loved ones “you think youre”. Its tough to take on brand-new phases of your life all alone, and its natural to miss the ones who formerly took them on alongside us.
Its not weak or pathetic or worrisome to spot yourself missing your ex at twenty-four. Its only human to miss who weve cherished. And you have all the time on earth to move on.
7. Wreaking a position just to get money.
Its okay to not be working your fantasy undertaking at twenty-four.
If youre attracting in enough coin to money your own hire, make minimum payments on your student loans and keep your energy from shutting off, youre doing a whole lot better than most.
Be patient with your daydreams and ideals. You have a long occupation ahead of you to pursue them, and your pragmatism will be represented you in the long run.
8. Expending your money on traveling.
If youre enthusiastic and free enough to travel at twenty-four, future developments self will thank you terribly for having done so. The knowledge you compile will intend more to you than the dreaming mansion or automobile you could have acquired one year sooner had you stayed home and hoarded your paychecks.
Plus, “youve never” know which commitments are suddenly going to pop up and keep you settled in one target. This may be the last chance you have to travel freely, for many years to come.
9. Staying home while everybody else is traveling.
Just as traveling is worthwhile and admirable if its what you truly crave from their own lives, the same could be said of abiding residence.
While your Facebook feed is spate with photographs of your ex-pat friends in Asia, take pride in your own decisiveness and future directions if youd instead be at home advancing professionally. Youre old sufficient to reach your own selects at twenty-four and you dont have to hop on whichever bandwagon examines the most glamorous.
10. Experimenting with your identity.
Theres still so much is high time to figure out who you are at twenty-four. You arent chained to the identity you structured in college or high school or childhood, and you shouldnt be ashamed to keep inquiring yourself.
Dye your fuzz a strange colouring. Get a tattoo. Take up a brand-new sport or brand-new pastime. Its never too late to start something new. You could be a whole new person by the time you stumble twenty-six or seven.
You cant burn the candle at both ends and expect to somehow remain sane. Youre old-fashioned enough and secure enough to know when you need a nighttime in. And the last situation you should ever feel is guilty for cashing in on your right to have one.
For some, a frightful promotion and compensate heighten is an accomplishment. For others, simply getting out of bed and taking a shower every morning is a accomplishment.
Whatever it is that youre proud of yourself for going done, own that pride. You are your own best friend and counselor at twenty-four. And if you cant celebrate your accomplishments, who else is going to?
13. Equating yourself to others your age.
Comparisons can be undesirable and detrimental at worst but they can also be perfectly normal.
If youre rarely weighing yourself up to the people around you and determining yourself coming up short, congratulations you are a human being. Youre going to feel inadequate sometimes. Youre going to feel like everybody else is onward. And the only thing worse than drawing likeness between yourself and others is overpowering yourself up for doing so.
Comparisons are a natural part of life. And as long as you can accept that and take them with a grain of salt, youre perhaps going to be just fine.
14. Allowing your friendships to change.
Its normal to find an enormous amount of push to conserve old friendships at twenty-four. Youre in a new chapter of life, but you dont want to leave the people from your last phase behind.
But that doesnt mean you have to break your back to keep something together. Ensure your friends a little less doesnt mean youve stopped desiring them. It just means youre ready to cherish them differently in a way that works better for both of you.
15. Asking for help at work.
Its ordinary to feel as though you should unexpectedly know as soon as somebody mitts you a big-boy or big-girl undertaking. But thats an unrealistic expectancy.
Refusing to ask for help merely means that youre limiting yourself and your potential. Its okay to indulge in the skills required of others at twenty-four years old. Possibilities are, all of your supervisors formerly did the exact same.
16. Dismissing everyone elses advice for you.
Just as its useful to know when you need assistant at twenty-four, its also useful to know when the advice youre being given isnt helpful. Just because youre at the bottom of the barrel professionally or personally doesnt means you dont inherently know whats excellent for you. And you owe it to yourself to follow that insight above all else.
17. Trying the newest fad diet.
Dont worry about being that guy or girlfriend. Youre learning what works for your organization and thats going to make some trial and error along the way.
So you hop on board the kale fad or try out a brand-new juice purify. Just because its overdone in the media doesnt mean its not going to work for you. In reality, youd has become a buffoon to opt out of trying something you want to try exclusively because it is favourite.
18. Skipping the gym now and then.
Fitness and health are important but its no secret that you have a lot of rivalling priorities at twenty-four.
Sometimes youre forced to sacrifice a bit of self-care to get ahead professionally and personally. And thats okay. As long as youre able to keep yourself on a health regime that works for you long-term, the odd bounced workout wont kill you. So cut yourself some slack when you need it. Youre not doing yourself any advantages by over-exerting yourself.
19. Saying No to professional or personal commitments.
If you said yes to every social commitment, networking incident, employment assignment and familial commitment that you were invited to, youd physically drop dead by the age of twenty-five. Memorizing when to strategically say No is not just a suggestion for your twenty-fourth year of life its a survival programme.
20. Watching too much Netflix.
Theres ever something more meaningful or important you could be doing with their own lives than watching Tv. But sometimes “youve been” exactly is a requirement to escape actuality for several hours at a time. And thats okay. You cant be on youre a-game 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Youre only human.
21. Still missing college sometimes.
Life as a young adult is exciting and invigorating and parcelled with new opportunities. But its likewise stressful and harried and seemingly impossible to navigate some dates. And on those daylights, its okay to remember about simpler experiences. Missing the past doesnt mean that you are not moving forward it precisely means youre able to appreciate the good times that youve had.
22. Forming some greedy decisions.
Youre allowed to quit the job that is constructing your mothers proud of you. Youre allowed to break up with members of the public who perfect on paper. Youre allowed to choose yourself, over and over and over again when youre twenty-four years old. Because if you are not putting yourself firstly at this stage of life , nobody else is going to do it for you.
23. Still harboring pipe dreams about living and ardour and handiwork.
Youre faced with a lot of coarse realities at twenty-four years old but that doesnt mean you have to let go of the ridiculously gigantic dreamings that youve been reining since childhood.
If youre not fantasy of bigger and better and more amazing things for yourself at twenty-four years, youre likely doing something wrong. Because the only behavior to stimulate those daydreams come true is to keep adamantly agreeing to them.
24. Taking your damn age figuring happenings out.
If theres anything you still have at twenty-four, its age. Time to try, time to miscarry, time to fall down and mess up and pick yourself back up, as many times as you still need to.
You dont have to have your entire life figured out at twenty-four years old. You precisely have to be committed to trying your damnedest at got to get. And if youre doing that, youre going to be more than okay.
