We can’t stop by the cemetery without visiting my favorite statesman/dog lover/grandpa. I miss his wisdom - and these days, I *really* miss his righteous thunder. Stopping in at @aproofdc to accept an art delivery! I have been at Artist’s Proof close to 3 years now and I have learned so much about what it takes to run a Gallery. This week we are prepping for our next exhibition Perceptions vs. Reality: Featuring paintings by @shar_coulson. The opening reception is this Saturday from 4-6PM and Shar Coulson will be giving an Artist Talk at 5 PM. The gallery focuses on local and international emerging artists. One thing I really enjoy about my role here is getting to speak to people about the artists we represent and what they are currently inspired by! Hello DC! I met you a couple of years ago. Having come from the Midwest, I found you to be magnificent right off the bat. I’ve always appreciated diversity and you did not disappoint. I love walking down the street and hearing 3 different languages before I reach the corner. I love that people wear suits despite the stifling heat and humidity this place produces. I love seeing the internationality of this place. LOVE. You’re full of rich and poor alike. And homeless. I see you all - black, white, yellow, and brown. Gay, straight, bi, trans (and anyone I forgot) I appreciate you all. I appreciate you for our differences, and I enjoy finding our commonalities. You’re full of intelligent people like nobody’s business. I’m so excited to have the handle today bc I actually want to get your advice and perspective on some things. Stay tuned. Dinner tonight is at one of our favorite neighborhood spots — @dinoinshaw! We’ve never had a bad dish here...they put some out some really incredible pastas and tasty, seasonally inspired Italian dishes. Georgetown gripe...it’s got some incredible sit-down restaurants, but the grab-and-go lunch choices are a little limited, particularly near the Waterfront. Today, I’m headed to Chaia for vegetarian 🌮 . Don’t let the lack of meat dissuade you...the homemade tortillas are 💯 and the flavor combinations are legit. These ladies! The @jlwdc has been such an incredible outlet for me being in DC. Aside from the fantastic volunteer opportunities, I have been fortunate to meet so many strong, successful women that I know call friends. They are all absolutely amazing - juggling work, families I, and personal lives and overall being #totalbosses. The other half of my new morning fitness routine just happens to be right next door to @realignmentdc! I started taking indoor cycling classes at @offroaddc about a month ago and I’m hooked! I’ve never been a runner or much into HIIT so when I looked to add more cardio to my routine, cycling seemed like a good choice. Off Road’s classes are super challenging but their Stages Cycle system gives you more control and accountability to ride at an intensity that challenges you personally instead of worrying what everyone else is doing. Yesterday morning’s class really kicked my butt so today I just waved hello as I left yoga. I’m sure when I get back from Vegas I’ll be in need of a good sweat! 📸 @sarahspat https://ift.tt/2QrKADQ
