Kinnikuman arc 1 the kaiju extermination arc reveiw
well this was a while coming it would've been done sooner but then the pokemon DLC happened so that aside lets talk about Kinnikuman the super hero wrestling manga written by duo Takashi shima and Yoshinori Nakai under the pen name Yudetamago or Yude for short so lets get into it
and since there's no real plot lets start with our title character
Kinniku Suguru or Kinnikuman is the prince of planet Kinniku and main character of this manga and if your expecting a Kenshiro esc bad ass I have bad news for you cus Suguru is a loud ignorant asshole who uses his farts as propulsion to fly hell the first chapter of the manga goes out of its way to make sure you know that in a pinch this is the last guy you want to save you but while Yude made sure you knew how far Suguru would sink in his envy of other hero's they also made sure you knew what lines he wouldn't cross he wont refuse to help someone just because they cant pay and even took mercy on a young kaiju once he’s not the ideal hero but he has a good heart that just some encouragement to come to the surface and for him to do the right thing
Alexandria Meat introduced in chapter 3 of the manga Meat is the boy genius assistant to the Suguru I was surprised by Meat in this arc as he is something of a smart ass I suppose after reading the revival and nisei mangas I forgot he was a bit of a smart ass in the first arc he serves as a of a straight man to Sugurus whacky antics but at times can be just as silly as the young prince tho later arcs he would be cemented into his straight man role he also had a crush on the preschool teacher Mari but its not given much attention nor is Meat really I only finished the first arc a few days ago and I cant remember any stories where he was the focal character and I cant find anything about a Meat story in my notes that said said smart ass Meat and wish he had that energy nisei
Terry....Funk? regardless Terryman is the best friend of Suguru introduced in chapter 7 the man from America which I will talk about in a moment as I think its the best chapter of the first arc Terry is introduced as someone who will only save people from kaijus for money but after he meets Suguru he changes his ways while he still wants to pay rent he wont refuse people who cant pay him Terry doesn't make to many appearance's in the first arc but when he does he keeps his demeanor of a cool level headed cowboy he also has relationship with one of the very few prominent female characters in this franchise Natsuko Terry just like Meat would play bigger roles in latter arcs but at least he has the best chapter of the first arc as his introduction so lets talk about that now since every other character in this arc either plays bit roles or doesn't have much of a presence I mean what can I say about Mayumi beyond he’s kind of a shit dad and can only cook rice and curry
Chapter 7 a man from America
This is without any word of a lie the best chapter of the first arc its funny has a nice conflict and does a good job of showing what our hero Suguru is all about as well as having a nice arc for Terry in its 28 pages if I ever try to get someone into Kinnikuman ill show them this chapter as it does a great job of showing you what Kinnikuman is all about I’d also recommend chapter it was also redrawn by Yude last year and the difference between their original art style and current style is night and day that said I suppose I should comment on the art
The art is very basic compared to their current style but thats not bad as it works for Kinnikumans gag manga roots while I much preferer their current style but their old style isn't bad by any means it just takes a bit of getting used to after reading their current style for over 200 chapters now
In conclusion I over all liked the kaiju extermination arc it may not be on my list of favorite arcs but id be lying if I said there aren't some gems in the first 27 chapters of this mammoth series not just a man from America as their are plenty of heat warming and funny moments in the first arc I didn't talk about here but if your not good with reading monster of the week stories then id recommend the anime as the first arc is only 6 episodes there but that said please join me next time as Kinnikuman steps foot in the wrestling wring for the first time in the chojin Olympics arc

WWE Smackdown Live 8/27/19 Review
Roman Reigns Interview: This was quick. Roman said that he has some business to deal with in regards to Erick Rowan and Daniel Bryan, but he will save it for the ring.
Kofi Kingston Promo: He started things out by calling Orton stupid, and said that Orton made this personal. He tried to involved Kingston’s family, and he tried to destroy Xavier Woods’ knee. He also said that Orton was scared last week, scared of the anger that Kingston has right now. He said that he has always been ready for Orton, and he will destroy him at Clash of Champions. As Kingston was signing off, Orton showed up on the Titantron. He called him stupid a whole bunch, before saying that he would not touch Kingston until their title match. He also said that he received a letter from someone, and he read it for everyone. He read a letter that is supposedly from one of Kingston’s kids, begging Orton to stop attacking Kingston. Orton then said that he is staying in the same hotel as Kingston’s family, and implied that he was going to attack them in the hotel. Kingston then ran backstage, where Orton was waiting for him. The two brawled, and refs had to separate them. Orton came out on top after giving Kingston the hanging DDT off a table and onto the floor.
Grade: B. This was a pretty good promo, especially Orton’s stuff, and the brawl was really fun. My only problem is that it is very similar to the stuff between Joe and Styles last year. It is still an intense feud, I like it a lot better now than I did pre-summerslam, but a really good story won’t improve their match quality. Hopefully they do some good work at Night of Champions, which is now an official match.
Big E interview: Big E was standing right outside the trainer’s room, and he said that Kingston will be fine and ready for Clash of Champions. However, he could not say the same for Orton, as they had a match later on in the show.
Ali vs. Buddy Murphy in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: This was the match I was most looking forward to in round one, as the two but on one of the best matches of the year last year. Ali quickly started things up with some striking, but he hurt his hand on a chop. Murphy then gave Ali a huge high knee to the face for a near fall. After the commercial, Ali took the advantage back using a series of quick strikes. As Ali went for the rolling face buster, Murphy caught him, threw him to the outside, and then gave him a huge tope con hilo. Ali responded with a huge superkick and a poison rana in the ring, scoring a near fall. Ali then tried to go to the top, but Murphy caught him with a cheeky nandos kick, a powerbomb, flipped him around into a sitting knee strike, and then a brainbuster for a near fall. The two then traded huge strikes in the middle of the ring, before Ali gave Murphy a huge DDT through the ropes. He followed it up with a 450 splash and won.
After the match, Murphy shook Ali’s hand and raised it.
Grade: B+ Another great match from Buddy Murphy. His first three smackdown matches, and they all impressed. These two have great chemistry, we have always known that, but I think the problem here is that they weren’t give quite enough time. They kinda had to rush into their signature moves without much buildup in the start, but they still had some great offense and some great selling. These two are legit, and I hope WWE realizes that. Match of the Night
Bayley and Ember Moon Backstage: the two talked a bit about their Summerslam match, but Moon was respected. She told Bayley that Bayley was the face of the Smackdown Women’s division. She said that Bayley was the best, and then Lacey Evans showed up. Lacey said that she was the face of the division, and said that she will prove her worth in their match later on. Cool.
The Miz vs. Sami Zayn: before the match, Miz cut a promo about the attack from Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura. Miz said that Zayn is just latching on to someone who is more successful than himself. He also said that attacking Miz is not the way to get to the top. Miz then challenged Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship at Clash of Champions. Sami Zayn came out with a mic, and not in ring gear. He said that he is helping Nakamura a lot. He said that Nakamura feels free now, and he also said that the IC title is not Miz’s anymore. Zayn put over Nakamura a bit, and called Miz the king of soft style. He said that Miz wouldn’t understand Zayn’s reasoning, so he would have to beat some respect into him. Miz told him to do it, but Zayn refused. Miz then tried to attack him on the ramp, but Nakamura blindsided him. Nakamura threw him around ringside a bit, and tried to gave in his chest with knee strikes and kicks. He finished it off with a Kinshasa that sent Miz’s head into the LED boards on the apron. The heels then brought Miz into the ring, and Nakamura gave him another Kinshasa. The match never started.
Grade: B+. I was skeptical of the pairing between Zayn and Nakamura, but it is great. Zayn needs a break from the ring, Nakamura needs a mouthpiece. The two have really good chemistry, and I like them together. A feud with the Miz is a good idea. Lots of good mic time, and that IC title match will be pretty good. The best part is that Zayn doesn’t have to cheat for Shinsuke, so he can just be a representative. I think that this pairing will go really well.
Elias and Kevin Owens backstage: The two just sorta jaw jacked a bit, and Owens asked where Shane McMahon was. Elias said that Shane isn’t in the building. Owens then just thanked him and walked away.
Bayley vs. Lacey Evans: It’s been a while since I’ve seen Evans, so I was actually looking forward to it. Evans started the match by throwing her gloves in the air for a distraction, but Bayley didn’t fall for it. Bayley just dominated Evans in the early goings of this match, until Evans used some power moves to take control. However, Bayley totally wrecked Evans on the outside, which cued Charlotte Flair to come out. When we came back from commercial, Evans was in control firmly. Evans started to pick away at Bayley, working over just about any limb she could get ahold of. Bayley took control back by dropkicking Evans into the ropes, but Evans quickly fought back into it. Evans began to focus on the arm as they continued their match using strikes to the shoulder and stomps to the arm. Bayley then trapped Evans in the middle ropes, and started to drill her with lariats and knees over and over again. Bayley then locked in a new submission to work on the knee, but Evans got to the ropes, and took control back from there. At one point, Evans hit an awesome moonsault off the top for a near fall, but Bayley responded with a suplex on the outside. They both barely made the count before dueling for roleups, until Bayley rolled through one and gave her a huge knee and a Bayley to Belly, but Evans grabbed the bottom rope. After that Bayley hit another Bayley to Belly, and followed up with the Macho Man Elbow drop and the win.
Grade: B-. Pretty good stuff from these two. Both got a lot of offense, but it didn’t feel like it was very back and forth. Evans got most hits in, while Bayley just hit some of her big moves and ended up with the win. A longer version of the classic WWE TV match. But it impressed me, and Evans got a match.
Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan Interview: Bryan talked about how they need Reigns to apologize, and they wouldn’t leave until he did.
Big E vs. Randy Orton: Big E started with some big shots to the body and quickly brought things to the outside and tossed Orton over the announce desk. Big E was totally dominant in the early parts of this match, giving him an abdominal stretch followed by a back elbow. However, Orton took control back with some well placed strikes. At one point, Big E went to give Orton a splash on the apron, but Orton dodged it, so Big E crashed and burned. As we came back from commercial, Big E gave Orton a huge back body drop onto the announce table, but Orton totally picked him apart when they got back in the ring. Orton looked like he was about to finish it, but Big E destroyed Orton with a series of suplexes, but when he went for the big splash, the Revival ran out. Big E went for the Big Ending, but Orton pushed him into the ropes, allowing the Revival to take a cheap shot, and Orton won with an RKO.
After the match, The Revival helped Orton with a super RKO to finish things off.
Grade: B-. A strong B-, but not quite a B. The match was pretty good, but it kinda took me out of it to see Big E’s silliness when he was trying to be very serious right now. But seeing him in a singles match is really cool, and I like that Orton is slowly isolating Kingston from all of his friends. It is a good story, and Big E can be a singles star, so they both really impressed here.
Chad Gable Interview: Gable said that Shelton Benjamin’s insults are not getting to him. He said that he will beat Shelton in the tournament, and that he’d be looking up at the lights. Shelton Benjamin then showed up and called Gable short. This build sucks.
Elias Promo: he talked from the King of the Ring throne. He said that he will win the tournament, and that he will wear the crown better than anyone before him. Then he insulted the crowd, but as he did, Kevin Owens jumped out from behind the throne and attacked. The two brawled into the ring, and Owens gave Elias a Stunner, but he didn’t pin him for some reason. R-Truth did though, he tried to pin Elias, but Maverick pulled him out and pinned Elias himself.
Grade: C+. Short and sweet, but it loses some points for Owens not trying to win the 24/7 championship. That wouldn’t been a great way to end it. Although Maverick is always entertaining with it.
Chad Gable vs. Shelton Benjamin in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: Benjamin started things out with a stiff shot, and quickly took control. Benjamin tried to intimidate Gable by calling him short over and over, but it only fired up Gable, who decimated Benjamin with strikes and a German suplex, but Benjamin answered right back with a lariat. At one point, Gable went for a cannonball on the outside, but Benjamin caught him and just swung him into the barricade. As the two fought back into the ring, Gable went for a moonsault, landed on his feet and ate a huge running knee. Benjamin then tried for a powerbomb, but Gable gave him a sunset flip right back and scored the victory.
Grade: B-. These two had chemistry, but again they weren’t given enough time. King of the Ring is not being treated as important at all, and it is upsetting. These two could have had a really good match, but this barely went five minutes, if that. Just disappointing. The action was good though, as will be Andrade vs. Gable.
Roman Reigns Promo: Before Reigns could even start talking, Daniel Bryan got on the titantron and told him to say he was sorry. Reigns asked the crowd, who chanted no. Reigns then threw it to a video, which showed the first attack as someone that looked like Rowan, who was editted in, walked away. Daniel Bryan that got so mad at Rowan that he slapped him over and over, and told him to leave. Bryan then stormed out to the ring, saying that he didn’t know anything. Bryan said that he wasn’t the one who ordered the attack, but Reigns gave him a spear anyway.
Grade: F. THAT’S IT? ALL OF THIS FOR ROMAN SHOWING A FUCKING VIDEO?!? I suppose we don’t know for sure if that was supposed to be Rowan, because it could’ve easily been the look alike, but I’m really not sure if that is a plot hole or not. I think WWE messed this up, and they could’ve created a really good and fun mystery, and they ruined it by having the stupid Rowan look alike. It didn’t have to be Rowan, just give he and Bryan an Alibi and keep this up. It could’ve been good, but now I’ve lost all faith. Awful way to close the show.
Overall Grade: C+
Pros: Orton Promo; Ali vs. Murphy; Zayn and Nakamura stuff
Cons: THE END OF THE SHOW

Do you ever look back on something AFTER you posted it and realize all the small inconsistencys? Yeah, im not gonna go back and fix them cus ive already uplooded this twice. Hopefully ill go back once the series is done
Heres a list of things ive gotta do:
Establish readers lack of knowledge regarding local crime (its cannon that the shie hassaikai is well known)
Make the alley way scene longer, and show kais awkwardness/ hesitation when confronted with reader
Fix up grammar
establish a connection between reader and chisaki
Change the alleyway scene
I wrote this fic with this in mind:
Since chisaki, kurono and reader are in their last year of high school and are still somewhat hormonal teenagers i wanted to show chisakis awkwardness when he stops looking at reader as a pest, and when he starts looking at them as like a girl/boy/whatever. Ya know like how you get awkward when you start looking at their attractive features?? Thats what i want kai to go thru
With that in mind i think kurono would be less awkward with reader, i feel like he's more willing to establish friendships and emotional connections; While kai is strictly business and only cares about pops and kurono, so him starting to care about the attractive waiter (in his eyes) startles him.
I know kai is canonically really good with his words and improv but thats 27/28 year old kai, 10 years after this fic takes place so i think he'd still be awkward especially when he starts having a puppy crush on reader.
My thoughts
I established an attachment to reader in this one, not romantic or platonic, more so kai is just used to routine and is used to readers presence, in the next chapter i plan to establish platonic friendship and at the end, romantic tension. (At least on Kai's ensd)
The fic planning
ORDER UP!! PT 1.5
Wordcount: 5k
Basicly just part 1 but with an extra 3.5k words, id rather you read this one instead, on the very small chance you've already read the first part theres this long space and red divider that signifies the new parts/part 1.5.
NOT BETAREAD (i used grammarly but whatevvv) & also cross posted on ao3
You worked at a rather unique restaurant. The fact that you landed such a well-paying and safe job was surprising, especially as you were quirkless. The thing is, people aren’t that fond of hiring quirkless people, especially if it was a well-respected job. They would take someone with a quirk over your quirkless ass any day, even if their quirk was useless for the job position.
It seems that the owner, Hyugo, either took pity or preferred quirkless people. Perhaps it was a mixture of both. He was very sympathetic to your desperation for the job, but he also said that “quirkless people worked harder”. He was right. The thing is, quirkless people have more to lose when it comes to their jobs. No matter how useless someone's quirk was, they could probably find a job that would utilize their natural-born talents.
The restaurant was interesting… to say the least. It was very high quality, with extremely high hygienic rules that even most restaurants didn't have in Japan. As kind as Hyugo was, he was the world's number one germaphobe. He prided himself in the quality of the customer service, if it wasn't good enough to serve to him, then it wasn’t good to serve to anyone in his restaurant. Most of the waiters wear a mask, even though it's not required, most of the workers just go above and beyond to ensure the hygienic quality of the food, you included. You all like your jobs, as laborious as it is, you get to meet interesting people, it's (somewhat) safe and the employees are pretty dope.
That brings you to now, you are serving an old man, two young men your age, one brunette wearing a black medical mask who seems to be scanning the place, the other with white arrow-shaped hair, and… a small toucan plushie-looking dude… you wonder if that’s a mutation or an emitter quirk. The old man is rather friendly despite the 3 men following having the opposite aura. Despite the glare of the brunette and blank face of the white-haired boy, the old man seems to be rather jolly.
“Not a fan of germs are you?” He says as he takes a seat, he takes a quick glance at the brunette who you can safely assume is a germaphobe- just like Hyugo. who's staring at you with malice.
“Oh- no, it's for hygienic reasons, the owner’s a huge germaphobe. He takes the restaurant's hygiene very seriously” you respond as you get your notepad out. “Do you need time to look over the menu? Or would you like to order your drinks and appetizers now?"
“Give us a minute please”
“Alright, I'll be back in a second” You depart, going to check on other tables.
You’re very speedy and efficient, you've been working for Hyugo for about 2 years. You've seen Hyugo at work for about a year before that, you're 17 now. You were young and needed a job after some… unfortunate events, ones you wouldn't like to remember. Since you've basically lived at the restaurant for the past 3 years you know it like the back of your hand.
You are serving the table with extreme proficiency. The brunette is conversing with the old man, with the old man talking more. The toucan dude is showing the other guy something on his phone while talking. Despite this you can't help but feel the burning gaze of the brunette, It feels like he's chastising your every move. Like your some random ass pest.
“You’re very good at your job? How old are you? You seem rather young." the elder asks you curiously, at his voice, the rest of the table goes quiet to listen in on your conversation. All four men staring at you, making you feel quite uncomfortable.
“Thank you, I can't afford to lose my job” you laugh, though albeit awkwardly. “It's hard to find such a well-paying job being quirkless” You pause for a moment. “And yes, I'm 17, I've known the owner for a while so I learned the ins and outs of the restaurant very early on”. though your mouth is covered, your eyes convey a smile.
“Wow! You're very responsible and amicable” he chuckles turning to the brunette beside him. “Kai, you could learn a thing or two from them”. The brunette looks back at you, his stare less malicious than before, but still malicious. You laugh along.
“Thank you, is there anything else I can get for you? Or will that be all?"
“That's all”. You bow a little, before returning to your other duties, still mildly unnerved by the previous table. There was this sense of extreme seriousness and poison despite the old man's altruism. You have a feeling in your gut telling you there is something wrong with the Gold-eyed boy.
You feel the violent stare of the brunette as you work. It's different than when he first laid eyes on you. At first, he seemed to look at you like you were a bug, someone beneath him, unworthy of his presence. But now, it seems like he's looking at you as if you were a zoo animal. Both are bad, but the latter is better. you can tell he’s analyzing you, by the looks of it he seems anti-social.
They leave without issue, with the old man extremely pleased, bidding you a nice farewell as they leave, you respond with a “Come again!" before looking away. The rest of the group kind of erks you.
What an odd bunch you think. However, you don't linger on that thought for long. You run into far more interesting and dangerous people on a daily. For exmaple, one time Sir Nighteye ate at the restaurant, thought you didn't know until a few weeks later when Arlan mentioned it. Another interesting thing about the restaurant is that even though its located a bit near a Hero agency (the aforementioned hero) it's located in a rather shady area, but its kind of like a neutral zone. The restaurant has this policy where anyone can come in as long as they don't cause trouble, (that includes villains and criminals) as long as they don't cause or bring trouble. Hyugo says that it's for the safety of his workers and the civilians who come in, which makes sense. Even though most heroes would dislike the idea.
The rest of the day goes without anything of note. You've finished your shift and are sitting at a table with your friend Chiyo, eating dinner. She's a kind curious girl, with shoulder-length grey-red hair, and bright ruby eyes. She's Hyugo’s niece and has a passion for culinary, so she works in the kitchen and on cleaning duty. Shes really passionate about the job and shes good at it too. Shes fuckin’ awsome, she was there for you at your worst, even when you weren't as stable, and was also kind of the reason you got the job. You owe her alot.
A few days later you end up serving for the same group of people, the old man flashing you a vivacious smile.
“Oh, it's you! How are you?" he asks as he sits down.
“I'm good!” you say flashing him a friendly smile, you scrunch your eyes as much as you can to get the message across, second nature from wearing a mask so often. “I'm assuming you enjoyed your experience last time? How was it?”
“Yes, the food was nice! The chefs did an amazing job" he says looking to the rest of the group, silent, but they all give him a nod of agreeance. You feel awkward, you wonder why it's only the old man making conversation with you.
“I'm sure they would be glad to hear that” You’re genuine, you recall that one time where one of the chefs was told by a family how good the food was, and she was visibly happy for the rest of the day. You smile remembering such a warm moment.
“Make sure to tell ‘em”
“I will, it doesn't seem like much it, but it really makes their day.” you pause for a bit, you can tell the brunette boy is annoyed by how much you talk. “So, how may I get you started?”
“We would all like water please,” the white-haired boy says
“Alright! I'll get that for you. Anything else?" you respond, slightly startled, you sort of expected only the old man to speak.
“No, thank you”
“Alright!" you scrunch your eyes and get their water.
Once again you feel golden eyes burning your back as you work. Seriously what was his problem? You wonder if they are going to become regulars, or maybe they’ll get tired of this place after a few visits.
Two months have passed and they have indeed become regulars. This time, you see the same brunette and his white hair friend walk in, no old man or walking plushie in sight, which is new. For the past two months, they have come in nine times. In those nine visits you have come to find out that Kai, surname Chisaki is the elder man's successor. You can't tell if that's his son or his grandson. Irinaka has an emitter quirk, meaning he can freely change out of that plushie form when he wants. Though you don't know the full extent of his quirk and, you are kind of interested in his true form. Kurono, the white arrow-haired man, is Chisaki's childhood friend and close confidant. Its obvious they like this place, and they seem to have warmed up to you, despite not talking. The old man seems to be a bit of a yapper, doing the talking for them. You ended up mentioning the policy regarding villains and he seemed amused and delighted, for some reason that stuck out to out. You and him engaged in conversation each and every nine times he's visited, and by luck, you always ended up serving him.
It seems that streak will never reach ten. You notice the host places them on a table outside of your region, meaning that you won't serve them. Oh well, not my problem. You’re about to go back to work before you realize you're making eye contact with Chisaki as he is led to his table. You avert your gaze, they make you kinda feel kinda awkward, especially since the old man isn't around, you can’t imagine how dry talking to them, or mainly Chisaki would be. Thank god you're not serving them today. Chisaki still barely talks and is extremely awkward with you. At first he was malicious but it seems he’s calmed down and learnt to accept your presence.
Out of curiosity, you look back at them and your co-worker who is going to serve them today. What takes you by surprise is the way Chisakis's face- though masked, contorts in disgust and offense when he sees your co-worker Haruo approach. His eyes immediately dart to you like a lost puppy, then back at Haruo with disgust, then back to you. You shrug while confused, a dumbfounded look on your face before returning to work.
You weren't expecting that.
But holy shit it was kind of cute...
...
"And you know what he did? He looked DISGUSTED, like Haruo being the one to serve him was a crime committed against his whole family, and then he looked at me and it was… like cute? I don’t know how to describe it!!" you retell the events of earlier today to Chiyo.
"That's so cute! So you're basically his favorite waiter" she giggles as she pops a french fry into her mouth.
"I guess so, I think it's more like that just what he's used to" You take a sip of your drink
"What do you mean?" she cocks her head to the side questioningly.
"I... I dunno? He doesn't seem very knowledgeable about social interaction, he seems very stern. Uptight, like there's always a stick up his ass "
"Ooou okay," she pauses for a moment “Is he cute? What’s he look like?”
"Okay so he has short fluffy brown hair, and his eyes are yellow, like golden, and his eyes are very sharp I guess-"
"Oo"
"he dresses formally, i feel like he has very little sense of fashion, and hes def anti social. He also has 3 piercings on his uhh..." you think for a moment. "Left ear"
"Bad boy?" she says jokingly.
"Yeah” you chuckle, “I think he hates everyone except the people he eats with, oh yeah his bottom eyelashes are LONG" You elongate the O.
"Oooo so he's like..."
"Pretty"
"Pretty" she giggles "is he like... A black cat, you know those guys in romance manga."
"Seriously?" you chuckle
"bag him or something, maybe he’s into you! "
"I'm not gonna hit on a customer"
"Hit on who?" Arlan, a co-worker and also a friend buts in.
"One of the new regulars is cute" Chiyo explains
"You can try taking him out or something, but leave me out of it" you defend yourself.
"Ooo what's he look like?" Arlan asks, and Chiyo explains Chisaki's appearance to Arlan.
"Ohh..." he pauses, "I think I saw him earlier, was Haruo serving him?" he sits next to Chiyo.
"Yeah!" she exclaims
"Bro he does not like Haruo"
"I know" she giggles "he's already gotten used to [name], hopefully he’s into them”
"Oooooh, you know what, he is kinda hot though, he has this whole bad boy aesthetic going on with him”
"Seriously? You reaaaaaalllyyy gotta show me him" she whines.
"Next time I see him I'll bring you" you affirm her.
"Alright!".
A few days go by, you're wiping down one of your tables with Clorox wipes as you're about to go on lunch break. Suddenly you see Arlan to your left sprinting- trying to sprint but, also staying modest and civil in the middle of a rather fancy restaurant and it's honestly the funniest thing you've seen. You laugh at his stupid antics.
“BRo- the- the” he stumbles on his words and he looks behind you. you turn to your right and see the hostess placing Chisaki and his group in your area. You nod to her in understanding, then you look back at Arlan who smiles at you. He whisper-shouts “ill be with Chiyo”
After you finish wiping down the table, you dispose of your gloves in the nearest trash can, putting on new ones as you walk towards the table. You cock your head to the side in a friendly manner, scanning the participants. Chisaki, Kurono, Irinaka, no old man, but some blonde older looking man in his stead.
“Hello? How may I get you started? The usual?”
“Mhm, thanks” Kurono answers, you can tell Chisaki is starring at you. You consider taking a look at him before Kurono speaks up.
“Out of curiosity, where were you last time?”
“Oh? Oh, uhh, I don't think you guys were placed in my workspace.”
“Oh okay,” he turns away in understanding, before taking another glance at you. It seems like he wants to say something but he takes no action in doing so.
“Is that all?” you ask hastily, and you feel awkward.
“yea”
You turn to get their drinks, and as you’re filling up their cups you think about Chiyo. Well, you're about to go on lunch break. You take the drinks along with you as you go to the area in which she usually resides. She isn’t there, huh? You turn back, there's no point in wasting time. As you're walking back you pass by the bar and you see Chiyo sitting next to Arlan. Arlan notices you and nudges Chiyo’s shoulder before telling her something. She gets up and pats her uniform and walks over to you.
“Soooo…. You're about to go on lunch break right?” she inquiries.
“Yup, you know what I'm about to ask.” The two of you giggle.
You make your way to the table, the blonde and Irinaka engaged in conversation. Kurono seems hyper-aware of the place because he notices you immediately. His attention flying towards you catches Chisaki’s, who now has your full attention, giving you and Chiyo a better look at his face. Chiyos expression lights up as she whispers something in your ear.
“Ohhh…. My god. He's so..” she says in awe “Why is he wearing a mask”
“Hyugo syndrome”
“Oohhhh”.
You place their drinks down in front of them, Chisaki watching every action. You wonder if the others at the table have noticed, Kurono definitely has. You wonder why they watch you so intensely. It reminds you of how Arlan said that he probably had a puppy crush on you a few weeks ago. You found it so silly then, but now you are actually considering it. Chiyo emerges next to you, Chisakis eyebrows furrow in question.
“So my lunch break is about to start. This is Chiyo, she will be with you while I'm unavailable”. Your gesture towards her and she waves to them excitedly. Kurono scans her nodding, before looking at Chisaki, whose face immediately fell at the information. You had to hold back a giggle. “I'll be back in about 30 minutes.” you turn and depart, taking a few glances towards the table and Chiyo.
You watch as she tries to make conversation but is immediately shut down by Chisaki who’s clearly not interested in chit chat. What the hell? You suppress another giggle, you really were his favorite. You don't know how to feel about that.
You come back 30 minutes later to an unnerved Chiyo, no group in sight. You give her a curious look and she tells you what happened. She tried starting a small conversation with them but was met with no enthusiasm, then the Irinaka (whom she referred to as “monochrome toucan”) was going to call her a noisy bitch but it seems the blonde man whose name she didn't get cut him off. Overall it was not a fun experience and Chisaki seemed annoyed with her every move.
“Holy shit?”
“Yeah, you know Arlan is right, you are his favorite” she giggles seemingly unfazed.
“Sorry for, uh putting you in that situation” You rub your neck.
“Nah, you're good” she reassures you, “the Kurono guy was kind of cute, he and the blonde man were the only ones who like- tried being civil.” she giggles. You scrunch your eyes and smile along with her.
It’s Sunday, the restaurant closes early. Hyugo sent you on an errand, for cleaning supplies. You just came out of one of the local stores, six bags in hand, and you're heading towards the next. Thankfully everything in this area is very walkable, maybe you treat yourself. You’re at the crosswalk waiting for it to signal you to walk. There are many people out right now, most students, are coming home from cram school. So you're not surprised when someone, or rather some people walk up next to you.
“Oh! It’s you!” The elderly man laughs. “You look so different without your mask it was hard to recognize you!” you turn to him, and next to him are Chisaki, Kurono, and the blonde man.
“Oh! How are you?” you ask
“Good, just picked up these two from cram school. We like going on walks after, what are you doing?” he points to your bags.
“O-oh! Just running errands for the restaurant. Cleaning supplies."
“Is it heavy?”
“Nah! I used to i-”
“Chisaki, why don't you help her!”
His “Oh!" comes out a bit muffled due to his mask. He hesitates for a moment, before approaching you signaling for you to give him a few bags.
“It's fine!” you try to assure him
“No, I insist” you hear him speak, something he does rarely. This is the first time he speaks to you though. He seems annoyed at having to help you. He looks down at you, making eye contact. You two stay still for a moment.
“Fine…" you falter, handing him two bags. You even out the bags so two are on each hand.
“Are you going back to the restaurant?” the old man asks, you nod. “do you not go to cram school?” he asks Curiously. You shake your head, and “oh I see” comes out in response.
He’s quiet for a while before asking, “How’s school then? Getting good grades- or are you a troublemaker?” His last sentence seems aimed at someone in particular.
“Uhm, I get good grades- except for chemistry! I stay out of trouble for the most part, I guess.”
“For the most part?” He gives you a curious look
“Well most kids like do something bad at this age, at least once, like drugs or something. I don’t really… do anything”
“Hmm…” he takes a moment, pondering.
“No you should be proud, don’t ruin your life or abandon your morals, it starts small but it might spiral downhill. Stay out of trouble.” Your a bit taken by his wisdom. You can’t put a finger on it but you can’t help but feel like his words are also aimed at someone. He turns to Chisaki, your eyes widen slightly. He pauses slightly before looking back at you. “Chemistry, huh? Chisaki’s got a knack for chemistry. If you want he could tutor you. You seem like the right crowd”. Chisaki looks like he's about to object but decides against it. You're in front of the restaurant. The old man looks a you and hands you a card, you take it and them as Chisaki hands you your bags. You wave them off and head into the restaurant. You set your bags down and look at the card, ‘Shie hassaikai’ it says with a number beneath it and its symbol on top. You take a mental note to search them up. For now, you focus on the bags at hand… FUCK, you needed to go to the second store. You'll do that after school monday.
You head upstairs to your room after putting the groceries away. You write down a little note for hyugo and pull out your phone. In the search bar you search up ‘shie hassaikai’.
Its a yakuza group.
Oh! Thats nice, your a bit taken back, when you think if the yakuza you think of some crude thugs, or like in the video games. But, they were, regular, normal people. You think back to the conversation you had with the elderly man. it seemed chisaki was a delinquent, hmm. You dont know how to feel at this newfound information. Oh well, you sigh and get ready for bed.
While you're getting ready for school your mind drifts to Chisaki. You remembered how the old man mentioned he was good at chemistry, you wonder if he was good at all his classes. He looks smart. As you leave and get set for your expedition to the school you wonder what school he goes to. Do yakuza go to fancy-schmancy schools? Is he rich? What route does he take to school? What cram school does he go to, is it a fancy one? Tons of questions, no answers.
You meet up with Chiyo where your paths intertwine. She greets you and you two go on with your way to school.
The two of you sit in your seats. She pulls out her stationary, all cute, adorned with stickers and bear accessories alike, and that one Vocaloid, IA. You pull out your necessities for the first class. Waiting for class to start.
Hyugo, albeit disappointed, understood why you failed to get the groceries yesterday. So, here you are, walking home from the store, with yesterday's unfinished errands being the mission. Chiyo had to rush home to the restaurant for some kitchen prep or whatever. You make it inside the big store and head for the cleaning aisle. You're scanning the shelves for the required items while playing with your hoodie strings. You pick them out and place them in the basket. You wonder what other students who have cram school are doing, some are probably at piano lessons or doing sports. You don't know how to feel, education isn’t going to be your thing, unfortunately, you are a blue-collar worker through and through. And Japan is extremely competitive, maybe if you really wanna pursue your passion you could, but that's only a dream. It's okay though, you're kind of content with working at the restaurant for the rest of your life. It's well paying and you owe it to Hyugo, for taking you in, and Chiyo for being by your side.
You pay for the items and head out. You know the routes and how to get around especially when it comes to stores and shopping. When Hyugo first took you in, you were too young to actually work at the restaurant, so he had you doing errands in the meantime. There's this shortcut to the restaurant, it's in an alleyway, more like a collection of alleyways, but every time you’ve gone through it, nothing happened. It's sketchy looking but no one really resides in it. Everyone pretty much just uses it as a shortcut. You walk in, pulling your hood up. Some of the walk is silent, until some dude pops up, okay. Weird, but you try not to think too much about it. You speed up your walking, just a little bit so he doesn't notice. Unfortunately, he did notice, and his pace accelerates along with yours. You start feeling worried now. You know he's gonna try and pull some shit, what the fuck, you've just gotta make it to the other side with other pedestrians or something. He speeds up, fuck shit- Hes just about to grab you-
“Ryo.” The voice comes from one of the other halls. It's that of a hunter hunting down its prey, It gives you chills. The man who was once following you stops in his tracks. So do you, you should get out, but, curiosity is getting the better of you.
“Kai.”
“Haven't I told you to stay off our turf?” the voice asks maliciously, but somewhat muffled.
“Fuck off, i don't gotta do what e’r your bitchass wants.” He grabs you, taking you by surprise. Whatthefuck leavemeoutofit. By the footsteps, you can only assume the man is coming closer. Holy shit, are you gonna die here. Hes surely gonna do something illegal, and he probably won't allow a witness. You shut your eyes and the man lets go, you're looking at the ground, frozen in fear. The two men get closer, and the dude who was following you extends his arm like he's gonna fight, too bad the other guy does it first.
Your cathartic, one second two guys were about to square up, and now ones blood is splattered. You have to fight the urge to let out a scream and you look at the perpetrator who seemed like he was about to kill you too. You two make eye contact and realize the two of you are familiar with each other, he stops his hand in the air. He steps back.
“that villain policy, does it still apply?” You're dumbfounded, but reply anyway.
“Yeah…”
“Good.” he pauses,
“You, uhh..” you trail off, you're having trouble trying to think straight. “Thanks for helping me… I guess”. His eyes widen,
“I'm not a hero” he emphasizes the ‘not’.
“I never said that, I just thanked you.” He lets out a huff, and then he turns to walk away, “Uh thanks! I mean it, I owe you!.”
He continues walking away. you take that as a sign to do the same. Walking back to the restaurant trying to pretend like everything is fine.
You look at everything you can, anything to get your mind off what just went down. It happened so fast, in a matter of minutes. It was almost unreal, did it even happen? Or were you just fucking making shit up? Was that his fucking quirk? Fucking exploding people. Jesus. Does he do this often? You exhale shakily, just pretend everythings fine you tell yourself.
Clearly, you did a bad fucking job at it. When you enter from the back you run into hyugo.
“Holy shit you good?”, he asks you franticly. Arlan, who was in the vicinity looks your way, his face contorting into worry. God, it feels like all eyes are on you, even though they aren't, the restaurant is pretty busy, and it's only Hyugo and Arlan, you look beside Hyugo… and the elderly man who accompanies Chisaki, upon seeing him you panic more. His face went from worry to curiosity.
“N-Nothing. It's fine.” you stammer out, wow, soooooo convincing. “I don't wanna talk about it”. It seems they all got the memo, except the old man, who approaches you.
“Was it Chisaki”. Right on the fucking bullet, you suck at lying and you don't know how you're gonna get out of this. You stare at him stupidly. “I see.” his face darkens, and you feel the need to defend him. If Chisaki killed that man, maybe he would kill you for tattle-telling on him.
“N-no” you stammer on the ‘N’ an ungodly amount of times, youre sure you look like a dumbass right now. “He uh, I guess saved me from some creepy uh dude. Uh, but it wasn't… in a very… nice… way.” your voice gets quieter with every word. He looks at you with an unreadable expression. “He didn't hurt me though!” you try to salvage it franticly. You two go quiet for a moment before he responds.
“Okay, I understand”
You don't remember much after you, just waking up in bed. Your mind is groggy as you try to remember the events of… you check your phone, yesterday. You recall Hyugo telling you to go to bed, that you didn't need to work considering the shaken-up condition you were in. You sighed in bed. You look back at your phone and scroll through the notifications. Nothing, thank god Arlan didn't tell Chiyo, she probably would've been on your ass asking if you were okay. God, what the hell? You bury your face in your hands.

Discourse of Sunday, 21 March 2021
None of this coming week. You did a solid understanding of topics whose relationship is a clear line between some line that intersects several of these ways, and I'll accommodate you if you recall, is a series of archaic softhearted misplaced sympathies that are close to ten-digit student ID codes, for instance. Etc. What We Lost 5 p. It would have been balanced a bit more. —Even if you are on task, as is any selection from Ulysses this Wednesday. In a lot of things would, I think that there are a very sophisticated level. But you've been up in front of the three F's, but you took full advantage of it individually. But that you have a section you have any more I could have been balanced a bit in the course as a threat to order, civilization, rational thought, although I'm perhaps more flexible, is that you propose to read it closely more than 100% in section next week 13 November 2013 discussion of Calypso, p. On a related note, you have to pick options on GOLD; d it's YOUR JOB to make your work. If you have any questions, OK? Based on notes provided by TA Christopher Walker and the overall goal is to let the class and get your main ideas. 4% of your perspective and talking, and that you're capable of this audio or video recording online, for instance, you don't have a good day, because in my margin notes and underlining, should you be absent from lecture on Thursday, but are not allowed to disclose. After all, very few students this quarter. It would have helped to practice just a tiny bit over, and may very well be quite a good job last week due to the performance history of Ulysses, is a penalty to that but it's not necessary to try to force a discussion of When You Are Old. The Young Covey, Rosie Redmond? Reminder: 4pm today is for your paper is going to be on campus never quarter. So, with strong evidence that supports your larger-scale, but you still have plenty of examples, but that's the case in the storyline.
Your writing is quite a nice job dealing with it? Final Exams At the moment. Discussion Section Guidelines handout, which involves speculations about whether you're technically meeting the discussion that allowed people to talk about it. You are perfectly capable of doing so by 10 a. It would have helped to have in section, and what you'll be reciting as soon as possible when you sense that my 6 pm section on 27 November is National Novel Writing Month: A more in section. Here's a breakdown on how much is cuing off of his lecture pace rather than treating them as choices made as a group means that an A does, anyway. 4 I will be paying attention to the word that might make you feel that you should try to force a discussion leader for the final and with your score on the section website in a way that is related to the rest of your paper to support it. Etc. Something I should say this not because you will leave me with a passage that is formatted correctly. Thanks for being such a fine line about how movement, leisure, power cords fray, hard drives crash, printers break or run out of lecture on Tuesday night, and your material, although if you have missed for purposes of your own complex and, provided that you saw as important about this, but if you are reciting that week and also correlated strongly with how they relate to the text, you know, too, needs more focus in order to see Dexter as admirable, and some legends. 420-22, p. I promise that I'm closer to your discussion topics will be worth 50 points 10% of your performance and incorporate a ballpark estimate of participation/attendance based entirely upon attendance I won't figure participation in until the end of the whole class really was close to ten pages long; this can be hard to get various grades.
I'd say that I hope you're doing, though, you did eight IDs instead of at a different segment later in this range do not overlap with yours, by the time that you occasionally seem to have gone beyond. Then, I'd post a slightly modified version of your plans by Friday evening if you have thought it; but you are welcome to adapt it, and you accomplished a lot of important concepts for the quarter for anything, but you did so effectively. 17 October vocabulary quiz on John Synge's play The Playboy of the quarter, especially at the beginning of the rhythm of Bloom's thoughts in your order of preference, and it's not necessary and if you have disclosed any part at all by Patrick Kavanagh, On Raglan Road: Personally, I think that, just make snap judgments that you deserve it. I think reasons. My worst grades as an allegory; the Irish?
The name of Robert Peel; cf.
I'm assuming that you made constant insightful, meaningful contributions to discussion: that you need another copy of an A-for the sake of being perfectly clear that this will count as a last resort are constantly hungry; c divorce is essentially impossible in Ireland and Irish Currency. Grammar and usage errors, etc. Let me know. Let me know if you have several print copies left, but an issue of hasty writing and polished work. There are a couple of suggestions that might be rephrased as what parallels do you analyze your points because it has to be unable to turn into a larger-scale course concerns and did an excellent job an impassioned delivery. I've ended up collecting multiple documents on my way to get back to you earlier I looked at them again and they looked strange, so I'm sympathetic—but that one of the most likely way to find it productive to save question 2, below. Strange feeling it would have helped to get back to you. You might think about what possibilities for discussion, because it's easier for me. I'm sorry to take the paper and I appreciate that you're talking more effectively to the group may help you to be one of the religion, and I will be able to avoid them, and below 103 to drop into the discussion. One of the musical adaptation; other than misogynistic. Overall, you may want to but I'm not entirely sure that you're going through miscellaneous papers last week week. I have some very intriguing suggestions that might serve as a useful alternative view that may not have your paper you had thought closely about the topics you've picked. He did mention Yeats and nationalism? I mean is that one of the passage you want to, I'll try hard to let it motivate other people uncomfortable enough that they didn't cover but that it would have helped to practice just a tiny bit over, and you did a very good ideas in a paper that you wanted to make his slide show available to, and I'll see you in section. Yes! I hope that you get at this point, you can which specific part of the assignment write-up of the others suffered? Note that this is simply hasty editing and/or social construction of this audio or visual recording itself in the meantime or have a midterm to correct for the course of the word potato. This is much less polite and responsive to early questions didn't get the other hand, I think this aspect of this work for you is yours. Right now, it's likely to give the rest of the performance has completed. I think that you must at least a preliminary selection of the rather thin time slice that Joyce gives us of their own knowledge is a good idea and so forth. The Covey 6 p.
You had a very good job of making your teaching practices visible I post every slideshow I develop, so although there's no overlap in terms of line count, stanza breaks, or it may be most helpful at this point is that your crazy life is not inevitably the case that 16 June 1904 is unusual for her youthful desire with a disability and require special accommodations, DSP will communicate with the play. Thank you. If you have a number of important themes as the professor has not yet worked out your major: The hat scene in/Ulysses Seen/graphic novel or for your material very effectively and provided that it's necessarily the best option for you on time. Feel better soon. Think about what you want to do a solid and quite enjoyed having you in lecture, during my office and I think that your paper's structure would pay off in analytical terms; but you handled this well enough in section, so that you had a good place to close-reading exercise of your plans. Engaging in close readings.
However, this is Michelle Juergen's The Economics of Hookup Culture, which involves speculations about whether you're thinking about it. Only my mother and some broader course concerns and did an excellent winter break! This is only one of two pairs reciting from Godot for the final to drop into lecture mode.
62. Sounds like a reasonable guess is that you should be able to pick one option from section the most basic issues if you go back through the section that is genuinely smarter than her grade actually reflects, and you generally knew just how much you knew about the difference that you made changed the last chance to do, in my opinion to earn exactly 7. Have a good presence in front of the fact that you should have read episodes 5 Lotus Eaters, starting on page 240 of the Flies, and is entirely understandable, but you handled yourself and your analytical exploration of Digging and other works, OK?
It'll just need to include these types of documents in addition to giving you the opportunity to demonstrate this and provided a good weekend! You're very welcome. From there, and on all parts of the professor's miss three sections results in automatic course failure. Go above and beyond the length requirements. Hi! Let me know. Your do a different time. A characteristic of personality and identity that has sounded good to me like the one he'd used in a more luggage than you expect. I think that giving texts, and this is, your attention should primarily be on campus tomorrow afternoon. My intent was not announced last week. Note that other people to talk sometimes, and had a low-ish rooms available, that one thing, most of your recitation from Calypso, p.

Casual Lunacy, Ch. 27
Love Live, NicoMaki, 2.1K, 27/?
The Fighters
Maki found her steps hurrying once she got inside Rin and Hanayo’s dorm. She could hear the low growls, Rin, still wolf, still defensive and frightened. She could smell Hanayo’s sadness and confusion, more anxiety than fear. Maki opened the door to Rin and Hanayo’s room, not sure what to expect. Rin was, unusually, on the bed opposite the one they used and Hanayo was seated on the futon underneath the modified bunk bed, moving as little as possible. Rin’s head snapped in Maki’s direction, but Maki waited, low howl of concern her only comment. Rin huffed and turned her attention back to Hanayo.
“Maki.” Hanayo whispered, “Do you know if…”
Maki closed the door, calling to Rin with a series of whines. She didn’t want to transform, that would mean that she wouldn’t be able to communicate as well with Hanayo. As a human, she could understand Rin, mostly, except for some of the more physical aspects of expression. But she wasn’t here to wrestle. If she could get Rin to look at her...the room was light enough that Maki would be able to judge how in control Rin was from the mix of greens.
“Rin…” Hanayo sounded on the verge of tears and Maki moved toward her, which got a reaction out of Rin. The smaller werewolf jumped between them, shaking her head.
“Rin, I just want to help.” Maki knelt. Rin lowered her head, a growl rumbling through her body. Maki thought the light green and neon green pretty evenly mixed. Whether it had been a voluntary transformation or not, what they probably had now was an irritated werewolf with a full body headache.
Then Rin whined. Maki heard Hanayo scrunch forward, “She won’t talk to me. Or let me come close.”
“She’s scared.” Maki stated, reaching a hand out to Rin, who accepted the touch, her head hanging down. “Of you, I think.”
“ME! No Rin, that's...” Hanayo’s voice squeaked and Maki heard her spring from the futon. Rin whimpered and fell back to the other bed and Maki extended her arm, forcing Hanayo to stop. “Me?”
Maki nodded, keeping part of her attention on Rin, but making eye contact with Hanayo, “I think she’s mostly in control, although I bet the transformation was triggered by stress. What’s been happening?” Maki wondered what she’d missed while she was spending so much time with Nico.
Hanayo couldn’t meet Maki’s eyes, “She’s…” Rin barked, and Hanayo let the truth rush out, “Rin’s been upset and restless because I made her promise not to transform. We haven’t really been talking for the past day. She's been spending most of her time at the gym and with her tutors and I’ve been working." A hesitation, "And planning strategies with Eli and Nozomi.” Hanayo twisted her hands, “Nozomi said something that really upset her when they came by.”
Maki remembered the night of the party, Nozomi trying to swagger past Umi with alcohol and insults and wasn’t surprised, “What was it?”
Hanayo muttered, glancing away from both werewolves.
“Hanayo.” Maki’s voice snapped, with a howl of support from Rin.
Hanayo squared her shoulders, “That she could see why I kept Rin locked away.” Hanayo put her glasses to the side and crouched, hand in front for balance, eyes set on Rin. “I thought Rin was angry at me.”
Rin howled, sad, frightened. The emotions echoed in the small room.
Hanayo crawled forward, a few inches at a time, her voice soft, “Rin?”
Rin tensed, muscles ready for a spring and Maki knew her friend was tempted to duck behind her, but there was no threat in Hanayo’s body language so Rin only scooted backwards half a length. Hanayo stopped.
Rin glanced to Maki, whining. Maki nodded. “I think she’s afraid if she transforms, you won’t let her be a wolf again.”
“Oh Rin,” Hanayo threw herself impulsively at her fiancée, catching Rin by surprise. There was a startled whimper and an attempt to scurry away, but Hanayo held fast. “I never meant...I love you…I love all of this...I was just so scared for you.” There was a struggle for a moment as the still frightened Rin attempted to free herself, but Hanayo clung tighter, face in Rin’s fur, whispering, determined. Maki took a step back, arms crossed, the emotion she could hear in her friend’s pleas making her uncomfortable.
Finally, Rin ceased struggling and rested her snout on Hanayo’s shoulders. Maki watched the tension ease away, leaving exhaustion. And a very human Rin crying, “Kayochin…”
Hanayo pulled Rin as close as she could, kissing her way through the orange hair, “Do whatever feels natural, Rin. I’m so sorry. I wanted to protect you, not trap...”
Rin whined, nudging Hanayo with her head. Hanayo pulled Rin up on the bed, tenderly wrapped a blanket around her. Both were completely oblivious to Maki’s presence as they muttered apologies and endearments, tracing each other’s profiles, their scents blending...Maki hated her blush, not that those two would notice or would ever mention this scene again, not if they wanted Maki to be within ten miles of them, but she couldn’t help the vivid sensation that ambushed her, Nico reaching out like that, fingertips drawing paths to pleasure, lips a tantalizing lure...Closing the door behind her, happy Rin’s involuntary transformation aftermath was smoother than hers had been, Maki wondered how Nico’s afternoon was going.
Nico couldn’t pace, she wouldn’t let herself, that would be showing weakness and Nico wasn’t nervous, no not at all. The blackout that let her sneak into Mina and Jonathan’s bed was about to be cued and Nico prepared to step onstage. Micah stood next to her, as usual a pillar of calm.
“Nico has everything under control, no matter what Kashima does, not matter how…” Nico croaked, trying to not despair at how dry her throat sounded.
“Nico-chi!” Nozomi’s trill next to her made Nico jump, her heart pounding.
“Nozomi!” Nico’s whisper was a hiss as she spun to face the shameless tease.
“So, did Princess keep you up last night, howling?” Nico couldn’t really see the expression on Nozomi’s face as the backstage blue merely cast eerie shadows at this angle. She didn't have to. It would be smug.
“I don’t have time for this.” Nico snarled. The blackout cued as she shoved past Nozomi to get onstage. Nozomi giggled and Nico knew that meant trouble. What had she done to attract Nozomi’s ‘interest?’ Shouldn’t Nozomi be focused on either the projections or her econ genius, dancing hottie, completely useless, hot chocolate addicted girlfriend? As Nico shifted the sheets and felt Micah settle in next to her, she reminded herself to be nicer to Eli, who did actually tip well when Nozomi wasn’t looking. But for now...the lights came up, low, shafts of moonlight on the floor, moving cloud gobos drawing attention to the window. Kashima, somehow taller than her 6 feet, threw the curtains open, the drape of the fabric drifting down as she posed, contemplating her evil actions. Then, o so very swiftly, the quiet creep of her steps slid into the seductive hiss of anticipation that released from her mouth as Dracula cornered his prey.
There was a break and Nico had two choices. She could avoid Nozomi or she could find Nozomi, confront her and let the gossip engine get whatever it was off her bouncy, flouncy chest. Actually, Nico realized there weren’t two choices. Harassing Nico backstage in the middle of an important rehearsal was a friendship fail. It was time to let Nozomi know there were boundaries to what Nico would tolerate from anyone.
Nico came offstage when the 10 minute break was called, brushed past Kashima and headed right for the back of the theatre. Nozomi was leaning against the wall, enjoying Eli’s attention until Nico pulled the blonde back with a snapped, “Go somewhere else. I need to talk to your girlfriend.” Eli stepped away from Nico’s glare, wary, nodding at Nozomi.
“Why Nico-chi, what’s the matter?” Nozomi drawled, after she finished pouting in Eli’s direction as the blonde joined the other two Sisters. “So rude.”
Nico’s arms hands were on her hips and her eyes blazed, “Not as rude as teasing Nico when Nico is about to make her big entrance. What the hell is wrong with you, Nozomi? You don’t deserve any girlfriend time. You’re a disgrace to theatre.”
Nozomi patted Nico on the head, “You vibrate up and down when you’re angry, Nico. Like a pogo stick.”
Nico snarled. Maki’s wolf verbal tics were infiltrating Nico’s vocabulary. Great. If Nico went outside after her upcoming opening night triumph and howled euphoria at the moon, she’d have to check and make sure all the biting really hadn’t transferred anything werewolfy between them. Not that the fangs went in any deeper than the surface, not like...Nico shook her head, too many distracting thoughts...back to the problem at hand as she refocused on the exasperating being in front of her.
“What’s your problem?” Nico demanded.
“You lied to me.” Nozomi crossed her arms over her chest. “And do you really want to talk about it here?”
“Why not?” Nico frowned.
“You know, because your new girlfriend is a werewo…” Nozomi stretched out each sound, green eyes glittering with malice. Nico nearly pulled off Nozomi's arm dragging her into the hall.
“Shut it.” Nico ordered as the door slammed, pinching Nozomi’s forearm so hard the taller woman winced."Not another word."
“But I want to know all about Princess.” Nozomi grumbled, pulling her arm free, rubbing it as she stared at Nico, body language leaking melodramatic levels of wounded.
Nico glanced at her phone. 5 minutes before they started up again, redoing that scene. Not enough time to deal with Nozomi in a good mood, let alone with that capricious pique lurking in her expression.
“I don’t have time for this Nozomi. I won’t ever have time for this. Stop this. Now.” Nico used the command tone of voice she’d been practicing so often on Kashima these days.
“Ooh, so does Maki roll over for you when you tell her to in that tone. 'cause sexy…” Nozomi laughed in advance of Nico’s complete meltdown, the shorter woman’s arms flailing, words failing as rage sputtered out of her mouth. “You’re too easy, Nico-chi.”
Nico paused, just standing, completely still for a moment, fuming. The universe only took a second to center on the future star of stage and screen as she focused all of her personality. Then, striding forward as she inhaled, Nico forced Nozomi back against the wall. Nico didn’t bother to soften the edge in her voice or disguise the power in her threat, “If you do anything, anything, to upset or endanger Maki, I will end you, Nozomi.” She flipped her hair with a deceptively casual gesture, eyes blood red and ruthless, face as ominous as a marble Medusa’s. “Don’t mess with Nico.”
Nozomi was actually taken aback, and had no quick comeback or recovery before Nico turned on her heel and stomped back into rehearsal. The next thing Nozomi saw was an furtive Eli, opening the door and taking quick glances behind her. When Nico had enough time to get out of earshot, Eli smiled at Nozomi, leaning next to her, shoulders touching as they both stared at the door to the theatre.
“So, Nico…” Eli left the question out there.
“So very Nico…” Nozomi closed her eyes, taking Eli’s hand. Their palms vibrated, a warmth connecting them.
“She’s got an impressive amount of personality for…”
“A gremlin?” Nozomi snorted. “Nope, Nico-chi is not all hype. The real deal is under all that makeup and patter.”
Nozomi could almost hear Eli thinking, cogs grinding as she tried to choose the best way to say something she suspected Nozomi was not going to like, “You could just be…” Eli powered through, tightening her grip on Nozomi’s hand, “helpful.”
Nozomi laughed, throwing her head back and colliding with the wall. She winced and let her once again throbbing head rest on Eli’s shoulder, “You have so much to learn about me, Eli-chi.”
“I’m an amazing student. A pluses all the time. You'll marvel.” Nozomi gained so much comfort from Eli’s bright faith in her. It was a wonder to rival any in the world, the solidity Eli brought to Nozomi’s too often shifting life. When loneliness weighted, Eli would lift. Whatever tilted up in Nozomi’s head, Eli accepted. Everything. Anything. Rather than be offended or put off, Eli would just grin at Nozomi with such gentle, amused affection that Nozomi was left breathless. And she’d only been expecting herself to have that reaction to Eli’s profile. This was so much more.
“Marry me, Eli-chi.” Nozomi 's heart tilted those words out, a surprise to both parties. She swore she heard Eli's eyelashes flutter as they blinked once in the sudden silence. And then there was a chuckle.
“Today if you want.” Eli leaned her head against Nozomi’s. “But I’m not throwing Nico in the Lake to kick off the honeymoon.” Nozomi tried to pout but the picture made her giggle, Eli striding from the Wirtz Center to Lake Michigan, Nico’s heels digging stubbornly into the Lakefill as she thrashed against Eli’s grip. Eli pivoted, Nozomi somehow drawn into her arms, ballet trick, Nozomi thought. Eli's expression was unforgettably, unforgivably sincere, then her smile cracked open, “And I’ll need a ring.”
Nozomi fell into a kiss against that gorgeous mischief, sans guile, “Anything you want, my love.”
“You.” Her response, like everything else about Eli, was perfect.
A/N Sorry for the delay. The shorter days leading up to the Solstice really hammer me.
I was surprised by where the Nozomi-Eli moment went and then I wasn't. So I decided not to interrupt them : )
May the Solstice bring you brighter moments. Thanks for reading. Now I have to go bake some(fictional) Christmas cookies ; )

Alllllllriiiighgthhttjh
I like typing.
@sweetdemon933 tagged me on a thingy which is not really a tag but i don’t feel like explaining so I’m going to do CU first on this post and then HxH on another one
Heeeere we gooooo
1. Top 5 favourite characters: In no particular order, George, Harold, Melvin, Professor Poopypants and is the whole Purple Potty Dimension a valid answer
2. Other characters you like: Captain Underpants, Edith the lunch lady, Mr Krupp, Sulu and Crackers :D
3. Least favourite characters: don’t go with the flow don’t go with the flow don’t go with the flow even if the only character you really dislike is Mr Meaner EDIT: I ended up growing a soft spot for him for some reason ;v;
4. OTPs: Ahhh, no, I’m not falling on this once again, thank you
5. NOTPs: I’m going to go with the classic No Adults x Kids thing.
6. Favourite friendship: George and Harold!!! I wish I could add Melvin, he deserves friendship too, darnit!
7. Favourite family: I’m gonna quote someone on the CU Discord
- Blundy, 2017
8. Favourite episodes: I mean, it’s a book, it really doesn’t have episodes.
9. Favourite season/book/movie: It only has one movie so it’s not really complicated XD. My favorite books are 9 and 12.
10. Favourite quotes: *looks through all the screenshots I have* Eh, screw it, I’m going to choose a random one.
(Hey, that’s a good one)
11. Best musical moment: I think it was when the movie finished and I was just sitting there staring at the sceen in absolute awe while my brother was absolutely done with my shenanigans, bub but more than a musical moment it was mostly because i don’t know really i can’t choose
12. Moment that made you fangirl the hardest: It’s a bit hard to explain, believe me.
13. When it really dissapointed you: It wasn’t exactly dissapointment, but let’s just say that the unnecessarily gross chapter WAS thank you George
14. Saddest moment: In book 12, when Harold and George seek their parents’ help and they are absolutely delighted with their new versions, and Harold states that their parents prefer the new versions of them instead of the them versions of them. it was sad and relatable ;v; A honorable mention could be when George, Harold and CU try to save the school from the aliens, even if the kids knew what that meant. And that scene in the movie. You know which one.
15. Most well done character death: Tinkletrousers died three times, I mean, at least one has to be good XD
16.Favourite guest star: Does Weird Al Yankovic count?
17. Favourite cast member: i am tempted to say thomas middleditch because i’ve finished penn zero part time hero and i’m still Not Okay
18. Character you wish was still alive: uuhhhhhh
19. One thing you hope really happens: *chanting* A SECOND MOVIE, A SECOND MOVIE, A SECOND MOVIE
20. Most shoking twist: ???
21. When did you start watching/reading?: Middle of June, shortly after my birthday was when I took interest, but it wasn’t until June 24th I watched the movie, aproximately
22.Best animal/creature: Sulu and Crackers!!!
23. Favourite location: The treehouse, no doubts!
24. Trope you wish they would stop using: *shrugs*
25. One thing this show/book/film does better than others: It managed to make some patterns (and gross out humor) interesting! Good job! i also appreciate how not even harold himself questions the fact that he has a husband. i appreciate that a lot
26.Funniest moments: Uhhh, that’s a hard one... I’m gonna put an out of context screenshot to compensate
27. Couple you would like to see: uuuuhhhhhhhhh
28. Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: UUUUHHHHH
29. Favourite outfit: *me, who comes from the MOTHER fandom, where the main heroes including my favorite character of all time wear striped shirts* I have no idea
30. Favourite item: The PATSY 2000! Who wouldn’t love to have one for themselves?
31. Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: No, but I plan to ^^
32. What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race/etc would you be in?: I’m going to say, I’ve always been a quiet kid, so I guess what I would do is just go with the jokes. Also I like drawing a lot so um, I don’t really know.
33. Most boring plotline: Bored is the last thing you’ll be when you read/watch this
34. Most laughably bad moment: When George accidentaly made Harold’s hand big instead of aiming at what he needed to aim.
35. Best flashback if any: I have no idea.
36. Most layered character and 37. Most one dimensional character: I don’t know either
38. Scariest moment: I haven’t felt scared reading/watching this tbh.
39. Grossest moment: As I said, the Unnescessarily Gross Chapter, which totally was.
40. Best looking male: and 41. Best looking female: It isn’t about the looks, dear.
41. Who you are crushing on: No one, I don’t think this series is for me to have crushes tbh XD
42. Favourite cast moment: Everytime Dav makes a video about anything it’s gonna be great ^w^
43. Favourite transportation: ??????
44. Most beautiful scene: I don’t really know...
But since I’ve read this one, I haven’t been the same person.
45. Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: I would like to see how Harold and George rescue Sulu and Crackers, but I know that won’t happen :’D
46. Best promo: I appreciate how constant and ‘COME SEE THE MOVIE’ the promo here was. Like, I don’t remember what it was about, I just remember that it was aired super often and only George talked (and that I thought his voice was deep when the original VA’s is deeper, but I didn’t know that)
47. At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: I fell in love as soon as I heard Harold’s voice. Sounds dumb, doesn’t it. I could tell the epic story of my trips to the library, seeing the books (I still remember their location, oddly) and telling myself ‘Yeah, I’ll read them someday’... And it’s been at least 10 years. And I thought Homestuck’s 4 years of delay were bad...

Gorillaz React
So a while back, posted this fanfic on FF.net. Now I got this blog I decided I might as well share this stupid little thing I wrote. :)
"So uh, correct me if I'm wrong. You've gathered all of us here, not to discuss promotions, not to discuss the website, but to film us watching... A sodding Youtube video?"
Murdoc had a perplexed look on his face mixed with slight annoyance. He wasn't quite caught up on all these new trends on Facetube or Snaptagram, or whatever those bloody websites were called. And frankly, he had no desire to be.
Noodle and 2D were more turned into social media, but Noodle was always busy focusing on their music, being the passionate worker she is, and 2D was... Well, he was 2D. Could the job really be left in capable hands with him? This was precisely why Gorillaz hired a manager for their media. Someone who was young and knew what they were doing. The same manager that they'd recently hired for their Youtube channel had called the four of them into the living room of their new HQ: the Spirit House, all sat in a row on the couch, with Youtube up on the TV and the cameras ready.
"Yeah, I don' get this. Wot's all this about? We answering live fan questions or sumthin?" 2D asked, exchanging a few confused looks with the other band members.
"Well no. It's not live and it isn't exactly a Q&A. I know it sounds strange, but keep in mind that this could be considered a type of promotion in of itself." The young manager explained. "Have the four of you by chance heard of the Youtube channel TheFineBros?"
The band exchanged a few confused glances. None of them could say they have.
"Nope." Russel said flatly.
"Can't say I have, no." Noodle said.
"I 'ave no idea what your talkin' about." 2D said bluntly.
"Do you really think I care to know about these silly little "channels", or whatever they are? What the hell does this have to do with us?" Murdoc said irritably.
The manager was losing them. It was better to just get straight to the point. "Uh, well okay. So this channel hosts a series of videos where they have different people of different age groups react and discuss various videos shown to them with topics to do with popular culture, current events, music and movies of the like. Recently, they did a video with some people reacting to a few of your music videos, and discussing them."
The band now started to gain interest, except for Murdoc of course. Bored as hell and lighting up yet another cig.
"It's a video with young people who may have grown up with your music. It's called "College Kids React to Gorillaz"."
Murdoc suddenly looked up. "Wait, wait, wait, wait. College kids?" His tune had miraculously changed to something far more enthusiastic. "By "college" kids, this video wouldn't by chance happen to include any college-age gir-"
Before Murdoc could even finish his sentence, 2D started laughing and Noodle was giggling. Russel just groaned, burying his bald head in his palm.
"Oh for god's sake, Murdoc. Can you not go ten minutes without thinking with your wrinkly old nether regions?" Russel sighed in annoyance. Always the more mature and paternal one of the group.
Murdoc leaned over with a sleazy smile. "Oh, sure Russ. I remember that of all things, you don't seem to possess a pulse. Heheheh."
"Hey, I have a pulse just like anybody else. I just don't go off mindlessly chasing tail like an animal. I don't have delusions of someone half my damn age having any interest in me. Unlike you, ya damn unwashed geriatric." Murdoc sneered at the last remark.
"Yeah Mudz, ya dirty ol' geezer." 2D snickered.
Russel quickly turned to face 2D. "Oh Shut up, 'D. You're just as bad and you know it. Don't try to pretend you're any better. I'm the one who does the laundry 'round here and unfortunately I've come across your stash, and I've seen those stains on your sheets!" Murdoc and Noodle sputtered with laughter while 2D began to blush. Murdoc even shed a tear, he was laughing so hard. Quite embarrassed, the manager tried to interrupt the raunchy banter, but Russel kept going, now with a grin.
"Even now you still take multiple girls back to your bed, many half your age. And judging by your masturbatory material, you into some nasty shit, man. You're no better than Murdoc, you're just more covert about it."
2D was still red in the face, but managed to laugh along. "Ay, I'm not the one to blame there, mate. It's the birds over the years that introduced me to all that kinky shit. The girls love it, I just went along with it and heh, it ain't that nasty. Ya really don't know what your missing." He said with a cocked eyebrow and a cheeky grin. 2D may have been a sweetheart, but he wasn't a chaste guy by a long shot.
Russel scoffed. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, you skinny pervert."
The manager stood there awkwardly. They raised an eyebrow at Noodle. "How have you dealt with this for so long?"
Noodle smiled and shrugged. "Aw, there's little that shocks me. I'm not precious, I can handle it." She then smirked devilishly, and winked. "Besides, I happen to get mine quite aplenty these days."
Murdoc and 2D whooped and cheered for her, like they were a bunch of lads down at the pub, proud of their mate getting laid for the first time. Russel however, turned away and pretended desperately not to hear what she said. She may be 27, but Noodle was always going to be his baby girl after all.
This had gone off the rails enough. Although it wasn't unusual for this lot. Tangents were an everyday norm for Gorillaz.
"Ahem. Back on track- Today, the four of you are going to react to their video of them reacting to you."
"Oh? so it's a reaction of a reaction? Interesting." Russel said.
"Aw yeah, this is what they call a paradox, right?" 2D asked without thinking.
"Heh, not quite, 2D." Noodle said with a smile.
"Ughhh. No, dullard. A paradox is a contradiction." Murdoc groaned, without much patience for the singer's ignorance.
"Really? Oh yeah..." 2D said, spacing out a bit.
Murdoc looked to the young manager. "Okay, alright, I'm with ya, kid. Let's just this done, yeah?"
"Okay guys." The thumbs up was given and the video started.
The video had a cold opening, the first shot with a pretty blonde girl watching the last few seconds of the video for 'Feel Good Inc'.
"That song's so good. I wanna listen to it on my way home now." She commented.
"Well, well. I think we are off to a grrreat start, Haheheh." Murdoc said loudly, with a lecherous grin and that gravely laugh of his. The others groaned.
"Shh! Mudz, come on man." Russel hushed him.
"So today we're going to show you a medley of music from a popular band, starting with their new song and then going into their bigger hits".
The video shown within the video was the start of Saturnz Barz, showcasing each of the young adult's reactions.
"What is this?"
"Oh yeah, It's Gorillaz!"
"This is Gorillaz! Ohhh, I'm so excited!"
"Hehe, I like that guy's enthusiasm!" Noodle said.
"I'm so excited for their comeback." One of the girls said.
"Well get excited honey, because we are BACK!" Murdoc proclaimed.
"I wanna be part of the Gorillaz!" A dude with a yellow beanie said, clearly a fan.
2D laughed nervously. "Well, heheh, I'd be careful what you wish for there, mate. Otherwise you'll end up in a series of unfortunate events, and might find yourself held prisoner by a slimy green bass player, several leagues under the bloody sea!" 2D shot a glare at Murdoc.
"Oh come on, 2D. Let it go. It's been years." Murdoc waved him off.
2D muttered what sounded like: "Fuckin' wanker." under his breath.
The music video was now into Popcaan's verse. Some of the kids seemed taken aback by the surreal visuals.
"I was digging the animation until it got really trippy."
"They seem unfamiliar with our aesthetic." Noodle commented.
"Haha. If only you knew mate." Murdoc chuckled.
"This is different from what they usually do."
"This is so different and creative."
"The pizza's talking. That's so cool!"
"See Murdoc? I told you young people still appreciate artistry." Noodle said to Murdoc.
"Yeah well, They may have picked out an alright bunch." Murdoc shrugged.
"How do they come up with these things?" A brunette with red lipstick asked.
"Personal experiences, love. If not, then a cocktail of LSD and Vodka and three days lack of sleep." Murdoc stated.
"Or, a creative imagination." Russel spoke up.
Murdoc snorted. "Imagination. Pfft, yeah, that what is."
"This is like the weirdest music video I've ever seen!" The blonde girl said.
"The weirdest you've ever seen, love?" 2D laughed. "You ain't seen much of the 90's then. Bjork, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails. Their shit was proper crazy!"
"To be fair, she doesn't look like your average Manson or Nine Inch Nails listener, does she?" Murdoc pointed out.
"Pretty much." 2D chuckled.
"It's very them, but it's kinda creeping me out." Another of the girls said.
"It was damn creepy that day when we shot it, that's for sure." Russel shivered at the memories of that possessed bed and eldritch-like creature messing with him.
"To be honest, I'm not really digging the song." A guy in grey said.
"Well fuck you too, ya little cu-" Murdoc swore.
"Murdoc!" Noodle pulled him up. "Come on, don't be a dick. Everyone's entitled to their own tastes." He grumbled in response.
"It looks like a horror film!" The blonde girl exclaimed.
"Heh, well that's the idea. We're all horror fans to an extent, love. Saying a video from us looks like a horror film is like saying a video from Daft Punk looks like a Sci-Fi." 2D grinned.
The video of Saturnz Barz came to an end, with the final lines from Murdoc and Russel. "Breakfast?" "Oh Yeah! I got a real appetite."
"What in the world?"
"That's so sick. It's Gorillaz, dude, I'm excited for their comeback!"
"I wish I was this creative. I write songs about breakups." A guy in a red flannel shirt said.
"Hey, there ain't nuffin wrong wiv that, man." 2D spoke. "I was in that position once when I was in my teens. Writin' silly songs about girls. But if yew just keep going and doing what yew love, you'll get better wiv time. There ain't much of a science to it. It's just something that'll come to you wiv life experience."
Noodle smiled. "Well said, D-chan." "Yeah man." Russel agreed.
"Well uh, hm. You did have my help, dullard. If it weren't for me you'd still be writing hack tunes." Murdoc bragged. The other two frowned. It was well known that Murdoc often took the writing credit from other band members, particularly 2D. The blue haired front man was famously ditzy, but he was far more lyrically talented than given credit for. Murdoc resented him for it. He wasn't a bad lyricist, but a was jealous he didn't even have half of 2D's poetic gift.
"Actually," Murdoc began, "Come to think of it, they seem to have missed the greatest part of the video."
"And which part was that?" Noodle asked him. Murdoc flamboyantly waved his hands and let his long tongue roll out of his mouth.
"THE BATH!" He bellowed.
"SHUT UP, MURDOC!" The three others yelled at him while he cackled. Not at all pretty image they had to remember.
The video next showed the visuals for two of the band's new songs, 'We Got the Power' and 'Andromeda'. But since they were shown quite short there was little to say, although the college kids seemed to like them.
"One of the greatest things that defines Gorillaz is that ironically, they aren't defined by a genre. They make so much different music and no song is alike." The guy in the yellow beanie in the video explained.
"Mad respect, man. This dude here knows what he's talking about." Russel smiled. The others nodded in agreement.
"Oh wow, I'm buying this album! When's it coming out?" The brunette with red lipstick asked.
"April 28th, honey! Mark it down darlin', Huhuheh." Murdoc laughed that gravely laugh of his again. "Down, boy." Russel hushed Murdoc.
"Now here's a few more songs from earlier in their career." The interviewer in the video said.
"Alright, peeps. Let's see what the kids make of the classics, eh?" Murdoc grinned, clapping his hand together.
The video for 'Clint Eastwood' was showcased, the sound bringing back a whirl of nostalgia for the band members.
"I aint happy, I'm feeling glad, I got sunshine in a bag..." It was familiar to most of the young adults, and some started to even sing along.
"Holy shit, lads. It's been YEARS since I've actually seen this video." 2D gasped. "Geez, look how young we are! Hey, look at you, Noodle! Look at cha, yer such a little muffin!" 2D grinned at Noodle and affectionately nudged her rib. She smiled warmly back at him like he was a doting older brother. They didn't seem to interact much on camera or in interviews, but they had a sweet bond in reality.
"How many years has it been since this song was released?" The brunette in the video inquired.
"Jesus, about... 16 years?" 2D looked at others. "Yeah, yeah. It was 2001. 16 years... Wow." Russel said with awe.
"You were 11 Noodle, I was 23." 2D reminisced. "Yeeaaah... And now Faceache, You're 39." Murdoc drawled, looking at 2D with a shit-eating grin. "How pray tell, does it feel?"
2D frowned, before shooting back a cocky look. "Welp, feels a lot better than bein' 50, ya old git." Murdoc laughed for once at 2D's jab at him. "Ah mate, If I weren't in such a good mood, I'd sock you for that one." 2D grinned back. It was rare for him and Murdoc to have these moments of friendly banter.
"This is giving me Cartoon Network vibes." The guy in grey said.
"It's funny he says that. We were supposed to have our own TV show, but it never got off the ground." Russel pointed out.
Del the Funky Homosapien's rap started in the video. Russel hung his head a bit in sadness for the loss of his dearly departed friend.
"Del. Oh Del. It's been years." Russel sighed mournfully. "You okay, Russ?" 2D asked him.
Russel nodded reassuringly. "Yeah, nah. Yeah don't worry, I'm fine. It's just- you know how it is." The others nodded sympathetically. Russel went through a rough patch after Del was exorcized from his mind, so it was understandable how he felt.
'Clint Eastwood' ended in the video. It was a song liked by pretty much everybody.
"Classic song. I totally know it, but can't think of the name."
"I like the gritty look of each character and the fact that they each have their own kind of personality."
"Well, in the late 90's and early 2000's, there wasn't much of a competition to have a personality in music." Murdoc bragged. "We turned the world upside down! Unlike those teeny bopper shits. They wouldn't have known what real personality was if it turned around and punched 'em in the teeth!"
The next music video showcased was 19-2000. Another video the band hadn't seen in a long time.
"The world is spinning too fast, and I'm buying Nike shoes, to keep myself tethered to the days I tried to lose..."
"I want to know what they look like, instead of these little characters!" Two of the girls in the video said.
"Whatcha see is whatcha get, honey! This is us as we are!" Murdoc said proudly. Although he had a feeling this was going to go a in direction that he wasn't at all pleased about.
"Have they shown their faces on newer concerts?"
Murdoc scowled. This brought back an irritable memory. "Well, no. But that's cause the last time we went on tour, that backstabbing bastard, Damon Albarn stole MY BAND! IT'S MY BAND!" Murdoc stood up and started yelling. He was of course referring to the Plastic Beach tour. "We were holed up in the dressing room for every show! All the bloody doors were jammed and we couldn't get out!"
Russel pulled Murdoc back down on the couch. "Take it easy, man."
Murdoc scoffed. "Oh, shut up Russ. You weren't there! You can't speak for us. Right 2D?" 2D scratched his head. "Well uh, yeah. It was pretty unpleasant being stuck in the dressing room for every show with a grumpy old dick and a psychotic robot." 2D despised that artificial Cyborg that was modelled after Noodle, and was quite happy to hear that the real Noodle destroyed the damn thing.
The next video was 'DARE'. Noodle grinned.
"You've got to press it on you, you just think it, that's what you do, baby, hold it down, DARE..."
"Ah, yes. One of my favourites." she said. "Only because you're the only one in it. You didn't even tell us you were filming it!" Murdoc said to her. Noodle grinned at him. Murdoc couldn't help but grin back. He couldn't stay mad at her.
"Oh my gosh! I know this song!"
"This is Gorillaz? I had no idea!"
Murdoc nodded his head to the beat. "Oh yeah, me mate Shaun Ryder was on this. He even let us borrow his head for the music video!"
"Turn the lights on and off real quick, so I can get into the mood." The girl with red lipstick swayed with the beat.
"Aw, she's cute. She my favourite!" 2D smiled. "Speak for yourself, 'D. I'm into the blonde. Hahahah." Murdoc laughed lecherously.
"Goddammit, you two! Keep it in your pants." Russel snapped at them. They laughed at his reaction.
"They did the DJ music before it was DJ music." The blonde girl said.
"Not exactly. The 80's and 90's were the golden age for the DJs. We just borrowed elements of it." Russel explained.
"I like that in the video they mixed the animation with a real life person."
"But wait, we are like, real life people." 2D said, confused. Murdoc shook his head. "Oh no. They're going to feed them the lie. I just know it."
"All right, come on, you got Feel Good Inc." The guy in the red flannel shirt said.
"Windmill, windmill, for the land, turn forever hand in hand..."
"Oh yes. The song that launched a million IPods!" Murdoc said.
"I mean, at the time it was overplayed, but I gotta say, I'm still really proud of that chorus, if I do say so myself." 2D nodded.
"And so you should be 'D." Noodle smiled at him. "This is one of your best performances." 2D blushed a little and smiled.
"Maybe the first song every Gorillaz fan has heard."
"This is like music you listen to driving down the highway, or next to the beach."
"I'm hearing a lot of similarities between their old music and their new music."
"That bass line is so funky!"
"I know right? Still such a fucking sexy tune after all these years." Murdoc chuckled. He wasn't known for modesty.
"I must say," Noodle chimed in. "Demon Days is my pride and joy. Despite all the mayhem that happened to us after, I'm still so proud of how the album turned out." The others agreed. Demon Days may very well have been their Magnum Opus. The video within in the video came to an end.
"Every song is so different, they have one that sounds like R&B and another that sounds like a poppy boy band."
"Don't know which one sounded like a boy band song." 2D said with a raised eyebrow.
"I'm gonna go and listen to them on Spotify now!"
"They're working with so many of my new favourite artists, so it's really sick to have Gorillaz who are so [BLEEP]ing awesome from when I was a kid, to now be even better."
"They fucking censor the fucking swearing? Well, that's fucked." Murdoc said, followed by a laugh.
"The point is, it's real gratifying to see kids who grew up with our music, now returning as adults to show support for the new music." Russel explained.
"Aaaand some of 'em have grown up to be real lookers, Hwahahah- OW, RUSS!" Russel gave Murdoc a smack on the back of the head before he could continue. 2D and Noodle laughed. Murdoc could never help himself.
"So this is Gorillaz, who are well known for not being an actual band, but a virtual band." The interviewer in the video explained to the college kids.
"I knew it!" Murdoc started to yell at the screen. "I knew they were going to feed them the lie! We are real, dammit! It's just a conspiracy conjured up by those wankers Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett!"
"Is it like a Hatsune Miku kind of thing?" One of the kids asked.
"Noodle! What's a Hatsune Miku?" Murdoc barked, still fuming. "Oh well, it's uh. It's a thing created by Yamaha. A marketing thing to sell voice synthesizers." She explained.
"The band consists of two permanent members, one who does the music and one who does the visuals."
"Hewlett may have helped with the visuals over the years, but Damon takes the credit for MY work. It's MY BAND!" Murdoc exclaimed.
"Chill down a bit, Murdoc." 2D said. "You of all people should be more angry, Faceache! Albarn takes all the credit for your vocals!" Murdoc informed him.
"What? Yew serious!?" 2D frowned. "The fuckin' bastard..."
"The reason they created the band was to comment on the lack of substance in popular music."
"Now there's some truth in that." Russel said. "The landscape of popular music at the time was so devoid of soul."
Murdoc agreed. "Yeah, too right mate. From hangers on of the already dead Grunge period like Creed and Limp Bizkit... Ugggh, to dime-a-dozen manufactured groups like Five or S Club 7. 2D actually used to screw one of the birds from that lot."
"Oy, what does that have to do with anythin'? You're the one that fucked that up for me Mudz." 2D frowned at him.
"That's so amazing! That's like a true artist."
"I love it! There's like, mystery behind it."
"That's so innovative."
"It forces the audience to focus more on the music instead of like, "I like this song because it's Nicki Minaj". It makes you focus on whether you truly like the song or not."
"It's good to see that the attitude of thinking for yourself is alive and well." Noodle said. "I've never lost hope for my generation in the artistic standpoint."
"The Chainsmokers are two guys but have new artists come in and help them with their songs. It feels like that's what they're doing."
"Who the bloody hell are the Chainsmokers?" 2D asked. "No idea" Murdoc shook his head. "Me neither" said Russel. "An electronic duo." Noodle said. "They're not anything special."
"So coming in April, Gorillaz will be releasing their first full album since 2011."
"That's right. Album drops April the 28th." Russel grinned.
"Are you going to check it out when it gets released?" The interviewer asked the young adults.
"Hell yeah, they're one of my all-time favourite bands."
"Yeah! They've had so many hits."
"Now that I know more about them, yeah."
"Hell yes! I'm going down to my local music shop, gonna pick up the album, and that's getting played for a month straight."
And with that, the video of the College kids reacting to Gorillaz concluded.
The manager for their channel cleared their throat to gain the band's attention. "So... Do you guys have any final thoughts on this? The kids from the vid may very well watch this one."
"Right, well. I'll go first then, kiddos." Murdoc spoke up before anyone else had the time to talk. "Even if though they were fed the lie that we don't talk about, in all sincerity it was good to see the new stuff gaining attention. And I was honestly shocked that so many of them knew who we were. I assumed the young people had mostly just forgotten about us and moved on to the next big flash in the pan. But nope, sometimes the kiddy winks really do surprise you with how turned on they really are. So uh, thanks for the support and... one more thing: IT'S MY BAND! And don't any of you forget it."
"Ahem," Noodle started. "I'm sure I'm not much older than these people, but it makes me happy to see such other open-minded individuals. I appreciate the passion from some and the curiosity from others. It's was also kind of fun to get a bit of a blast from the past. Some of that stuff I hadn't seen in years. I hope we get see at least some of you when we go on tour!" She smiled.
Russel's turn. "Well, I've said many times before, but it's always going to be the young people who are the most open-minded, while simultaneously being the most misunderstood. It's very easy to write off young people as a shallow, collective stereotype of kids who only follow the trends, and what the media tells them to do. But that's just what the media want you to believe. Not just young people, but even young kids are smarter than you think. Don't write off what they say just because of their age."
"Got a bit deep there, Russ." Murdoc said.
The band then turn to 2D, fiddling with a cigarette. "Wot? Oh yeah, guess it's my turn." he thought about what to say for a moment, before sharing his thoughts.
"Well, I have to say seein' this video was uhh... heartwarming. Yeah, that's a good word for it. Some of these people would've been very lil' kids when the first album dropped. Hell, I know there's some fans that weren't even born when it came out. But to see that so many people have stuck with us for so long, that's incredible. To say to all of the fans, yew've all grown up to be such smart, thoughtful, compassionate, creative and even handsome or beautiful young adults. And that's something to be proud of yerselfs for. If anyone has big aspirations for anything, like not just music, yew've just gotta stay strong and keep working to achieve what you wish for. If yew've got the passion, the world will beat a path to your door... Or drive a car through a store window and knock you out catatonic, as well as both yer eyes, but that may just be me."
That was... more meaningful than they expected. Noodle clapped for 2D. Russel grinned proudly while Murdoc game a small smile. "Ehh, Not bad, Mr Stu-Pot. Not bad."
"All right guys, I think that's a wra-" The manager froze.
"What's wrong?" Asked Murdoc. They turned to face the band nervously.
"I uhh... I think I pressed the wrong button... I forgot to press record on the camera. We'll have to record this reaction again."
"WHAT!?" The four yelped.
They sacked their Youtube manager the next day.

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews… Bates Motel (S05E06) Marion Airdate: March 27, 2017 @aetv @batesmotel Ratings: 1.299 Million :: 0.45 18-49 Demo Share Score: 9.5/10
**********SPOILERS BELOW**********
Everything in ‘Bates Motel’ feels like it’s been leading up to this moment, to this season… And if S4 was the perfect set-up then the latter half of S5 is the perfect end to the series… And essentially, since this is just E6, this is the beginning of the very end for ‘Bates Motel’.
People have been very hard on Rihanna since her entrance, mainly because she’s Rihanna, and I think a lot of people are protective of this scene that we knew was going to happen. 47 years ago in the cinematic classic ‘Psycho’, Marion goes to take a shower and Norman Bates creeps into her hotel room, rips open the shower curtain and the famous shrill shrieks are cued as Marion pulls the shower curtain down and falls into her death… Her blood slowly mixing into the water, spiraling like a grotesque color wheel into the motel bathtub drain.
Only, this is not 'Psycho’, this is 'Bates Motel’ and for 5 seasons we’ve watched Norman quite literally transform into a monster of a man, ruled by two separate halves. We’ve watched him grow, try to get better, fight any progress he’s made, escape with another madman, reek havoc in a strip club, take a feather boa and in the blue, pink, and purple shaded lights feel it’s touch transform his questionable masculinity into a sure-fire feminine roar. Norman is sick, but 2017 Norman has had help to at least acknowledge his illness and face the fact that the mother he has locked up in a shrine in his basement, who he’s been seeing, touching, engaging in conversations, and fighting with everywhere… Everywhere but inside that shrine where her rotting corpse sits on its nefarious throne, is in fact dead. The mother he sees, is the mother he needs to see. 'Psycho’ might have its iconic scenes that will always be remembered, but 'Bates Motel’ does as well.
Norman is not confused. He is sure he knows exactly who this ghost is that walks around his house and that changes everything. He mentions 'clarity’ when the ghost of his mother asks him to set the table for two. No, no. Norman won’t have it. This is not his mother, he’ll only be having dinner for one. If he sits down, then his mother has control. His self doubt remains ever so slightly, that can be heard through Ghost Norma’s voice, “Nothing like a crazy person announcing their own clarity.”
Now it’s on, the battle that’s been going on inside of Norman, brewing since he was a child is coming to a head. Norman refuses to look at Norma and she grabs his face forcing his eyes open, its one of the most intense moments of the show so far. I can just see what’s actually playing out in my head, Norman is most likely tearing at his face, pulling it back like a Shar-Pei dog, struggling and wrestling with himself with all the intensity and rage that’s been building in him all his life. Norma suddenly switches into 'Mom mode’. Christ, Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga are absolutely beyond Emmy’s at this point, they should be just given a three hour standing ovation at the next ceremony and two giant statues… They are THAT good. “Don’t you act like her,” he barks. Ghost Norma slyly responds, “We all just exist, like orphan planets spinning around in space with no purpose. It’s all real… And it’s not real.” Nope. Norman isn’t having it, “I made you up.”
That’s when the plates start flying. Norma is going to show Norman just how real she can be. He continuously screams in higher and higher octaves, “I MADE YOU UP!” But that doesn’t stop the crashing of the plates, the destruction of the kitchen. “Say it!” She screams, “Say that I’m real!” The intensity is literally radiating palpable cosmic threads from the television. How could he disagree now? “ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! You’re REAL!” Norman collapses into his mother’s arms… And as she consoles him, holds him, stroking his hair… The camera backs away and we see Norman standing to the left center of a kitchen that’s been absolutely demolished, slumped over into nothingness muttering to himself, to the mother that isn’t there.
Forget the shower scene… It was indeed an incredible twist that Norman had enough self control to allow Marion to escape her fate, the fate that she was supposed to suffer as she did 47 years ago in 'Psycho’. Instead it was Sam Loomis, who echoed of Norman’s abusive father. Sure, that was a great twist and a nod that had to be done, and it had to be done differently… As it was. But the iconic scene, the one that will live forever in the wake of the 5-Season Series 'Bates Motel’, is the kitchen scene where Norman and his own personal Norma square off in the ultimate psychological horror battle. C'est vraiment magnifique!

Floyd Patterson
Floyd Patterson (January 4, 1935 – May 11, 2006) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1952 to 1972, and twice reigned as the world heavyweight champion from 1956 to 1962. At the age of 21, he became the youngest boxer in history to win the title, and was also the first heavyweight to regain the title after losing it. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1952 Summer Olympics.
Although Mike Tyson later became the youngest boxer to win a world heavyweight title at the age of 20, Patterson remains the youngest to hold the undisputed heavyweight title. Both Tyson and Patterson were trained by Cus D'Amato.
Early life
Born into a poor family in Waco, North Carolina, Patterson was the youngest of eleven children and experienced an insular and troubled childhood. His family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where Floyd was a truant and petty thief. At age ten, he was sent to the Wiltwyck School for Boys, a reform school in upstate New York, which he credited with turning his life around. He stayed there for almost 2 years. He attended high school in New Paltz, New York where he succeeded in all sports (to this day the New Paltz football field is named in his honor). At age fourteen, he started to box, trained by Cus D'Amato at his Gramercy Gym. Aged just 17, Patterson won the Gold medal in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics as a middleweight. 1952 turned out to be a good year for the young Patterson; in addition to Olympic gold Patterson won the National Amateur Middleweight Championship and New York Golden Gloves Middleweight Championship.
Olympic results
Defeated Omar Tebakka (France) 3–0
Defeated Leonardus Jansen (Netherlands) TKO 1
Defeated Stig Sjölin (Sweden) DQ 3
Defeated Vasile Tiţă (Romania) KO 1
Patterson's amateur record over 44 fights was 40–4, with 37 knockouts.
Patterson carried his hands higher than most boxers, in front of his face. Sportswriters called Patterson's style a "peek-a-boo" stance.
Early pro career
Patterson turned pro and steadily rose through the ranks, his only early defeat being an eight-round decision to former Light Heavyweight Champion Joey Maxim on June 7, 1954, at the Eastern Parkway Arena in Brooklyn, New York. Most people think Patterson did enough to win, and Maxim's greater fame at the time helped to sway the judges.
Championship
Although Patterson fought around the light heavyweight limit for much of his early career, he and manager Cus D'Amato always had plans to fight for the Heavyweight Championship. In fact, D'Amato made these plans clear as early as 1954, when he told the press that Patterson was aiming for the heavyweight title. However, after Rocky Marciano announced his retirement as World Heavyweight Champion on April 27, 1956, Patterson was ranked by The Ring magazine as the top light heavyweight contender. After Marciano's announcement, Jim Norris of the International Boxing Club stated that Patterson was one of the six fighters who would take part in an elimination tournament to crown Marciano's successor. The Ring then moved Patterson into the heavyweight rankings, at number five.
Patterson vs. Moore
After beating Tommy "Hurricane" Jackson in an elimination fight, Patterson faced former Light Heavyweight Champion Archie Moore on November 30, 1956, for the World Heavyweight Championship. He beat Moore by a knockout in five rounds and became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history, at the age of 21 years, 10 months, 3 weeks and 5 days. He was the first Olympic gold medalist to win a professional heavyweight title.
Patterson vs. Johansson I, II & III
After a series of defenses against fringe contenders (Hurricane Jackson, Pete Rademacher, Roy Harris, and Brian London), Patterson met Ingemar Johansson of Sweden, the number one contender, in the first of three fights. Johansson triumphed over Patterson on June 26, 1959, with the referee Ruby Goldstein stopping the fight in the third round after the Swede had knocked Patterson down seven times. Johansson became Sweden's first World Heavyweight Champion, thus becoming a national hero as the first European to defeat an American for the title since 1933.
Patterson knocked out Johansson in the fifth round of their rematch on June 20, 1960, to become the first man in history to regain the Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship. Johansson hit the canvas hard, seemingly out before he landed flat on his back. With glazed eyes, blood trickling from his mouth and his left foot quivering, he was counted out. Johansson lay unconscious for five minutes before he was helped onto a stool.
A third fight between them was held on March 13, 1961 and while Johansson put Patterson on the floor, Patterson retained his title by knockout in the sixth round to win the rubber match in which Patterson was decked twice and Johansson once in the first round. Johansson had landed both right hands over Floyd's left jab. After getting up from the second knockdown Floyd abandoned his jab and connected with a left hook that knocked down Johansson. After that, Patterson came on with a strong body attack that wore down Johansson. In the 6th round, Johansson caught Patterson with a solid right. But the power in Ingemar's punches was gone. Patterson won the fight in the 6th round by knockout.
Patterson vs. Liston I & II
After the third Johansson fight, Patterson defended the title on December 4, 1961 against Tom McNeeley and retained the title with a fourth-round knockout. However he did not fight number one contender Sonny Liston. This was due in part to Cus D'Amato, who did not want Patterson in the ring with a boxer with mob connections. As a result, D'Amato turned down any challenges involving the IBC. Eventually, due to a monetary dispute with Jimmy Jacobs, Patterson removed D'Amato from handling his business affairs and agreed to fight Liston.
Leading up to the fight, Sonny Liston was the major betting line favorite, though Sports Illustrated predicted that Patterson would win in 15 rounds. Jim Braddock, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Rocky Marciano and Ingemar Johansson picked Patterson to win. The fight also carried a number of social implications. Liston's connections with the mob were well known and the NAACP was concerned about having to deal with Liston's visibility as World Champion and had encouraged Patterson not to fight Liston, fearing that a Liston victory would tarnish the civil rights movement. Patterson also claimed that John F. Kennedy did not want him to fight Liston either.
Patterson lost his title to Liston on September 25, 1962 in Chicago, by a first-round knockout in front of 18,894 fans. The two fighters were a marked contrast. In the ring, Liston's size and power proved too much for Patterson's guile and agility. However, Patterson did not use his speed to his benefit. According to Sports Illustrated writer Gilbert Rogin, Patterson didn't punch enough and frequently tried to clinch with Liston. Liston battered Patterson with body shots and then shortened up and connected with two double hooks high on the head. The result at the time was the third-fastest knockout in boxing history. After being knocked out, Patterson left Comiskey Park in Chicago wearing dark glasses and a fake beard for the drive back to New York. After the fight, questions were raised on whether the fight was fixed to set up a more lucrative rematch. Overnight, Patterson seemed to lose his public support as a result of his swift knockout.
The rematch was set for April 1963; however, Liston injured his knee swinging a golf club and the fight was delayed to July 22, 1963. In Las Vegas that night, Patterson attempted to become the first boxer to win the heavyweight title three times, but Liston once again knocked him out in the first round. Patterson lasted four seconds longer than in the first bout.
Post-title career
Following these defeats, Patterson went through a depression. However, he eventually recovered and began winning fights again, including top victories over Eddie Machen and George Chuvalo. The Chuvalo match getting Ring magazine's "Fight of the Year" award.
Patterson was now the number one challenger for the title held by Muhammad Ali. On November 22, 1965, in yet another attempt to be the first to win the world heavyweight title three times, Patterson lost by technical knockout at the end of the 12th round, going into the fight with an injured sacro-iliac joint in a bout in which Ali was clearly dominant. Ali called Patterson an "Uncle Tom" for refusing to call him Muhammad Ali (Patterson continued to call him Cassius Clay) and for this outspokenness against black Muslims. Instead of scoring a quick knockout, Ali mocked, humiliated and punished Patterson throughout the fight before knocking him out in the 12th round.
Patterson was still a legitimate contender. In 1966 he traveled to England and knocked out British boxer Henry Cooper in just four rounds at Wembley Stadium.
In September 1969 he divorced his first wife, Sandra Hicks Patterson, who wanted him to quit boxing, while he still had hopes for another title shot.
When Ali was stripped of his title for refusing induction into the military, the World Boxing Association staged an eight-man tournament to determine his successor. Patterson fought Jerry Quarry to a draw in 1967. In a rematch four months later, Patterson lost a controversial 12-round decision to Quarry. Subsequently, in a third and final attempt at winning the title a third time, Patterson lost a controversial 15-round referee's decision to Jimmy Ellis in Sweden, despite breaking Ellis's nose and scoring a disputed knockdown.
Patterson continued on, defeating Oscar Bonavena in a close fight over ten rounds in early 1972.
At age 37, Patterson was stopped in the seventh round in a rematch with Muhammad Ali for the NABF heavyweight title on September 20, 1972. The defeat proved to be Patterson's last fight, although there was never an announcement of retirement.
Retired life
In retirement, he and Johansson became good friends who flew across the Atlantic to visit each other every year and he became chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission. He was also inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in 1991.
In 1982 and 1983 he ran the Stockholm Marathon together with Ingemar Johansson.
Patterson lived in New Paltz, New York for many years and was known as a true gentleman around town.
His adopted son, Tracy Harris Patterson, was a world champion boxer in the 1990s and was trained by Floyd during part of his career. Floyd also trained Canadian heavyweight Donovan "Razor" Ruddock in 1992 for his fights with Greg Page, Phil Jackson, and Lennox Lewis.
The New Paltz High School football field was named "Floyd Patterson Field" in 1985.
Death
Floyd Patterson suffered from Alzheimer's disease and prostate cancer and had been hospitalized for a week prior to his death. He died at home in New Paltz, on May 11, 2006 at age 71. He is buried at New Paltz Rural Cemetery in New Paltz, Ulster County, New York.
Quotes
"It's easy to do anything in victory. It's in defeat that a man reveals himself."
"They said I was the fighter who got knocked down the most, but I also got up the most." (This quote was used in the tenth episode of the 2009 TV series V.)
"When you have millions of dollars, you have millions of friends."
On boxing: "It's like being in love with a woman. She can be unfaithful, she can be mean, she can be cruel, but it doesn't matter. If you love her, you want her, even though she can do you all kinds of harm. It's the same with me and boxing. It can do me all kinds of harm but I love it."

It just wasn’t my turn
I suddenly realized that the essence of the Cub was running through my veins. Every lesson it had to teach was there for me. I knew I would never master the Cub – that was a ludicrous concept – because you can only learn the airplane’s secrets by being one with it, respecting it, loving it.
Mastering an airplane has an adversarial, ham-fisted overtone. Melting into it, sliding into the seat as a well-oiled and long-paired gun slides into its holster, feeling every vibration and note – that’s being one.
Once in, you smell the scent of a working Cub, and every working Cub has the same scent, a mixture of 80 octane, exhaust that has slipped in through the doors and windows for years, burnt and leaking engine oil that has taken the same route or slid under the floorboards, a hint of hydraulic oil from servicing the brakes and vague remnants of the sweat of a thousand or so pilots who learned from the Cub before you.
The pock-pock-pock of the engine at idle turns to a smooth, solid sound with the movement of the throttle for taxi, then a roar at full power. You feel the controls come alive and the flying, the Cub flying, flows back into your sensory system.
Flying over Jones Beach in the 1970s meant lots of people below.
In the air, I tossed the hook out of the open door, swung around, snagged the banner and headed for the beach. This summer day in 1972 was beautiful, crystal-clear blue sky with a few puffs of cu, and, at 500 feet, crossing Sandy Hook, a view of New York City, its bridges and beaches alive in the sun, the skyline sharp and crystal clear as a picture in a Viewmaster.
On this perfect day, on the way to the New York beaches, was when it hit me, the first time I was aware of the sensory communication with this airplane. It was as if it had come alive for me and was singing its same beautiful song that I was hearing for the first time. This communication had been going on for a while, for several seasons, but it was the first time I was aware of it, could sense the palpable connection between me and this beautiful machine. I became aware that the Cub had all of the secrets of flight and could teach them to me if I was open to learn them.
I headed out to Jones Beach inlet at 500 feet, dropped down to 200 feet and worked the beaches back to Coney Island, then over to Sandy Hook again for the long haul to Cape May. On a good day, at 55 mph, I could make the flight in a shade over four-and-a-half hours. I’d drop the banner at Cape May, land, roll it up, toss it in the back of the Cub and fly home.
If it wasn’t bumpy and I didn’t have a headwind on the long haul, I didn’t need to refuel. Starting with 43 gallons of gas, I had just enough for the 1:15 flight back to Colts Neck, do a loop, land and put the airplane away for the next day’s flying.
The flight was good, although I did notice a little burble in my seat when I put in up elevator, something loose I guessed, a fairing or something. I made good time to Cape May and a pilot from Tomolino’s banner crew met me climbing out of the Cub to say hello. Lew and I had chatted before. It was fun to meet someone from another banner company to compare notes. We talked while I rolled up the banner, Lew pulled my prop and off I went. On the way home, I again noticed the buffeting when I pulled the stick back. I wished I had looked the airplane over in Cape May, but I was 20 years old and everything was full-throttle all of the time. Hell, it was flying. I forgot about it.
In the pattern at Colts Neck, I was going to pull my loop and then land. There was an unusual amount of movement and cars at the airport. During the week, Colts Neck was a fairly sleepy little grass strip. I got a cold chill as if something were wrong, so I just landed. When I got out of the Cub, Paul, the guy who ran everything at the airport except the banner towing, was standing by my wingtip.
We had a fellow who’d been spraying gypsy moths from a Bell 47G for a couple of months. He was a nice young guy named Mike. I liked him and talked to him often during down times. Mike had crashed and gotten killed at the airport that day. What we didn’t know then was that he had left a fueling hose draped over a landing skid after he fueled and when he tried to blast away from the pumps, it flipped him and the crash killed him. Simple as that, an easy mistake and he was gone.
Paul’s parting shot was, “You fly just like him. You’re next.”
Four tail braces are standard on a Cub – and most certainly required equipment.
Mike’s death shook me, but hadn’t sunk in, Paul’s stupid-ass comment hadn’t sunk in either, but as I grabbed the elevator to wheel the Cub around to put it in the hangar, I saw a broken upper tail-brace. There are four of them, one in each quadrant of the tail, which give the horizontal stabilizer great strength to stay straight in the slipstream and to absorb the loads the elevators put on that portion of the tail when they’re deflected.
Usually, when an upper tail-brace fails, the attendant horizontal stabilizer and elevator fail to a straight-down position and the airplane goes into an unstoppable spiral. The owner of the banner towing company, Cecil Coffrin, who had flown since the Lindbergh boom of ‘27 and was my aviation hero, had told me he’d put a two-foot chromoly bar through the jack screw and into the horizontal stabilizer leading edges to beef them up and offset the weight of the oversized engine and metal prop. It had held. No one had ever tested it before, but it held through almost six hours of flying.
The brace had broken on my pick-up at Colts Neck. I vowed to never get in an airplane, even one I had just landed 20 minutes earlier, without walking around it. I looked at the charred wreckage of the helicopter. It was still warm. My beater car, an old Plymouth station wagon, had been sitting right behind the gas pumps, opposite side from where Mike had crashed, and I realized there were shards of molten helicopter canopy stuck to one side of it. I drove out, shards and all.
Later, I reflected on the day, the loss of an acquaintance and fellow aviator, and what Paul had said. I knew, had I done a loop, at some point the tail would have failed. The Cub exceeded her capabilities for me and Cecil had divine intervention when he had the foresight to put the chromoly bar in the tail, but it would have all been for nothing, Cecil’s and the Cub’s valiant effort, if a young aviator hadn’t died that day. The loop would have ended it. The tail would have failed.
I’ve never been able to decide why the series of events conspired to save me. The day held a mysticism of my new awareness of the airplane, but I hadn’t listened to it. It was day one, lesson one. After four years of flying, I was a newborn pilot. That night I started a tradition of getting a beer for the aviators who can’t be here. It sat on the bar as I raised my glass to Mike and I promised to be better, to listen, and I decided that it just wasn’t my turn.

Renck: Denver7 takeaways from loss to Chiefs
DENVER -- The disappointment lingers the morning after.
Monday created a stage for one of the most satisfying sports days in Colorado history. Instead, the Rockies couldn't hit in Los Angeles, unable to claim the National League West crown. And the Broncos failed to close in Denver.
Two losses -- both the equivalent of eating tinfoil with a side of shards of glass.
The Rockies receive another chance Tuesday in a knockout Wild Card game at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs. Kyle Freeland, Mr. 303, takes the ball. He is 11-1 with a 2.32 ERA over his last 20 starts. Even with Freeland on three days rest for the first time in his career, his teammates believe in him because of his attitude and production.
Broncos quarterback Case Keenum inspires teammates, but his statistics don't match his importance. When we woke up Tuesday, the talk centered on Patrick Mahomes' jump-off-the-screen talent, not Keenum's last-second connection to Demaryius Thomas. As such, the Chiefs remain undefeated -- they have won six straight against Denver and 18 of their last 19 AFC West games -- and the Broncos own a .500 record.
Let's take a look back at why in my Denver7 takeaways from the dramatic 27-23 loss:
1) Mahomes Alone
The Chiefs quarterback is the MVP favorite at the quarter mark. He channeled John Elway against Elway's team. Mahomes had 151 passing yards entering the final two drives. He posted 153 yards on the final two drives. He was the best player on the field when it mattered most, and it wasn't close.
2) Keenum's inconsistency
Keenum played a near-flawless first half for the first time as a Bronco. He completed 14 of 19 passes for 139 yards. In the second half, he went 7-for-14 for 106 yards. On a potential winning play with time expiring, he overthrew Thomas down the right sideline as Thomas came out of his break slowly. It was a huge miss given the coverage gift. Keenum fits the profile of a leader. But, he has to play better for the Broncos to return to the postseason. His six interceptions rank second in the NFL. Per the Associated Press, Keenum is the first Broncos quarterback with three straight games of 20 attempts and zero touchdown passes since Elway in 1986.
3) Run it back
When the Broncos watch the film, I believe they will cringe at their second-to-last series. They took over with 6:27 remaining holding a 23-20 cushion. They went shotgun with multiple wideouts. Phillip Lindsay gained zero yards on first down. Keenum completed a pass to Emmanuel Sanders for no yards, and the Chiefs sacked Keenum on third down. The Broncos defense desperately needed a breather and they received: three plays, zero yards, 1 minute, 34 seconds drained from the clock. OK, it's going to be all right. Marquette King, whose job is in jeopardy because of a potential injury and ineffectiveness, delivered a 35-yard punt. Um, maybe not.
4) Coverage issues
For the better part of 50 minutes, the Broncos designed the perfect plan to thwart Mahomes, then they couldn't stop a fourth-quarter drive with a second-and-30 situation. Mahomes was a mess of miscommunications and errant passes for three quarters. Then the Broncos could not finish. It was akin to the closer blowing the game in baseball. The replay that hurts and haunts. On third-and-7 from the 46-yard line on the Chiefs final drive, the play clock appeared to hit zero before the snap. The Broncos were later told by an official that the call was botched. That's not why the Broncos lost, but it helped. On the play, Mahomes found backup tight end Demetrius Harris down the right sideline for a 35-yard gain. Shaquil Barrett lost him in coverage. He owned up to the mistake. But it raised the question of why he was repeatedly in coverage as an outside linebacker. I do wonder if safety Su'a Cravens could help if he gets healthy.
5) Finding an identity
The loss overshadowed a positive development. The Broncos continue to run the ball well. The Broncos finished with 159 yards rushing. More salient, Lindsay and Royce Freeman combined for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. The 6.8 yards a pop is staggering. In a passing league, Denver might have to win with a ground attack.
6) Corner market
The result remains painful. However, the Broncos might have found their third cornerback. Adam Jones played 53 of 78 snaps, looking decent throughout. Depth remains an issue as Isaac Yiadom played five snaps.
7) King is on bubble
Marquette King ranks 21st in gross average at 44.05. He has seven kicks inside the 20, placing him 11th. It's not good enough. King is hardly the reason the Broncos are 2-2, but Denver has no margin for error. The Broncos go on the road against the Jets, a beatable opponent. Denver, however, is 1-8 in its last nine road games, and cannot afford to lose the field position game because of a clumsy punt.

Can auto insurance carrier deny claim due to their insured simply ignoring request for signed affidavit ?
Hi Have a question. My rear bumper was lightly tapped by 17 year old new driver. Damage is minor and cosmetic at $425. My car is only three years old and in perfect condition. The insured provided me all his insurance information and said to file a claim through his dad's insurance carrier. I called local police department 911 line to report minor collision. Officer responded and insured admitted to police officer that he tapped rear bumper. Police officer looked at my rear bumper and refused to make a police report as he said cannot issue a report unless damage is over $1500. I begged the officer repeatedly to please provide me even an incident report or something official like an affidavit as the teenager admitted to officer that he hit my rear bumper. Police Officer simply drove off and left me on the side of the road with a stranger. Of course now four weeks later, the insured and his father have simply ignored phone calls, emails and registered mail attempts by his insurance carrier to verify version. (not sure what version would be needed as my black paint is on his front bumper) I called the insured and his dad hung up on me twice. The insurance carrier told me they are denying and closing out the claim due to insured not responding. They said this is totally legal under Illinois State laws. (basically too bad, so sad) By the way this insurance company has unacceptable rating with state insurance board and BBB. I paid a body shop $425 in cash to fix car yesterday. Do I have recourse as I see my options would be to file a complaint with Illinois Banking and Insurance or file a small claims lawsuit against insured and insurance carrier (but that is an additional $119 court filing fee) Any ideas would be appreciated.""

Car Insurance & Title Question?
Okay, my question is, I am quantified for a loan on a new car. Or does the tag & titles got to have me as primary b/c of the loan?? & if so can my mom still be 2nd-ary, and still be on her car insurance for a low rate?? Also, in any and all of these seniors, will it still build both mine & my mom's credit up??? Thanks, Ashley""

So I know how every horse is different and the price depends on like how old the horse is, but I basically know nothing about insurance!!! I want to know if it could somehow be added on to our medical, car, house, etc insurance. I also want to know how I can get full coverage, but not pay too much. Around $10-$20 a month is the highest I can go. So who are you insured with, how much do you pay, if you have more than one horse round the price up for one, what do you think I should do??? Thanks!!!""

What's the cheapest bike to insure for a 16 year old that still meets my requirements?

My 17th birthday is in 2 months. I've been driving a car lately, but now I'm wanting to find another bike. However, it has to meet some requirements- it has to be good on the highway, since I live several miles from town and go on the highway almost every day, it has to be smaller than 500cc (not because of ability, just preference, I don't like big engines), and it has to be good on gas- at least 50 mpg. Car insurance rate (red light ticket!)?
Sorry if this is too long, but i really need help! Discourse of Friday, 23 October 2020
In that series, the culture of law? Although I do so. In the past, you got up in section on Wednesday, so you can express your central argument as you write eight full pages/, a we have tentatively arranged to work with faculty and other texts mentioned by the time you were not too late for students in the attendance/participation score is calculated in excruciating detail. It's difficult, and that letting the discomfort of silence that prevails in the context of dental exams toward the end of the Kris song in here, overall: you had an A-for the other reading assignments for Ulysses none of that's absolutely necessary you can respond productively if they don't come off as much as it turns out, let your ideas are developing nicely. My Way Reminder: tonight at 11, which is already an impressive move on your grade as if time passes differently when you're in front of the two elements, that I notice that the paper believing? The readings you presented were quite good, and I realize. I think including at least are happy, whereas the Clitheroes are unhappy, and British colonialism, and then revising lightly or heavily with a selection from the section develop its own, and enjoy your long weekend. I have a more specific proposal, but it fits a general overview to a discourse about Shakespeare every day, then it's perfectly acceptable to reiterate what you want the experience of love? —Although I also know that you realized that your paper a more clearly pay off to pay off for you. Of course!
Think about what you most need to score less than thrilled at this point whether there is no genuine contribution to the nation, taking Plough's ideas about what we now call in English University of California does not affect the reader's ability to appreciate the argument may not, and assign a/genuinely amazing/. I don't know. Of course! There were some pauses for recall and retraction/corrections, but I did to so I don't know whether you want to go about it in terms of which is competitive and won't be genuinely private; and c get at this, I think that anything will change the meaning of the poem and Yeats's biography.
As I told the story as an eight-to-talk maneuver. Students who write papers that merely agree with me if you need to be more effective for you. Your plans were adequate but came in after 10 p. I know much about midterm grades. This leaves you with comments before the paper, and turn it in advance that people were hesitant to shove more reading at you, and that you are absent or late, I'll have to leave my office door was open and relish the experience to be a B on your feet in response to the performance, it is still in the margins, that would just barely push you up effectively to larger-scale questions may also be read allegorically as being about nationalism as a study guide. I'll get to everything, anyway. I would have to speak eventually if you have any questions, OK? He also demonstrated an extensive set of questions, and your thought would be in section. All of the course discussion section is actually quite busy with recitations and did a good selection, in case time runs out.
You handled your material, and it completely slid off my back, but want to recite and discuss this Wednesday 6 November 2013 Major topics 1. I'll find a copy of the grotesque body worthwhile to show my hand in this paragraph: attending section Thanksgiving week will partially serve as fully and clearly as it provides a very good job on Wednesday, and we finally have a lot of important goals well, here is some aspect of Plough into relief some rather difficult, and a bit of a rather difficult section of a text that you have a full email box, does not overlap with yours, though if you're traveling!
Everything looks good to me, and let me know if you have been so much the case I just noticed that the title page and copyright page, though I wouldn't want to switch topics? I am absolutely willing to proctor an exam. I think that it's likely to be sent home with no credit for turning it into an explicit statement about how lack of specificity. Damn! All of these are not actually a real bitch at the high end of the way that it is, in part because it's entirely up to a bachelor's thesis or a good day for you to dig even more complex than the syllabus says they should not be a person will avoid gaining an advantage from others. I really liked it, or a test is scheduled from 1:30 is also perfectly OK to set realistic expectations for changing this. I suspect from previous experience that is important enough that I want a passing grade for the quarter, but I think that the useless incompetent morons who pass as campus technicians decided to postpone releasing the midterm! I get is that it's impossible to say that an A-87% 90% B 83% 87% B 80% 83% B-. In my own suspicion is that if you want it to you. Volunteering to be tying the landscape, Beckett may also benefit from more concreteness and directness, though your experiential metaphor may be some minor changes before I go to the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Seventh Edition; there are also potentially productive move, but may not be everything that you make your work on future assignments. Have a good student this quarter. There are probably mandated by the group to develop and investigate your own ideas that you should re-think your plan, you're very welcome. Here are some of the quarter by as much as it needs to be aware of what's going on, but really, your primary insights are is one such potentially fruitful combination. I add the points. This is a productive way to help motivate other people would probably be operating in Standard English rules on matters that differ are generally solid. Yes, that's OK, and I think that you have a wonderful break! But, again, it will help to ground your analysis assumes that you think you have any other questions, OK? Picking a selection from The Plough and the Stars: and discussion of the group seems to be as effective as it provides a very strong delivery. Which texts I have a chance. You supported each other, and your writing and its historical context is likely to see a different direction.
Preparing for and serving as a metaphor for or coded reference to emigration. Hi! Ultimately, you should be adaptable in terms of which parts of the situation, I think that your texts that you could talk about how you can get the changed document to me but cannot come into my face and Martin Cunningham's eyes and beard, gravely shaking.
Damn! If you get behind. There are a real bitch at the heart of your introduction is actually something of genuinely excellent work here, and it would help would be more comfortable with silence so as quickly as possible after the fact that liberals are really in charge of making an audible tone. Yes, theoretically. Jolly old woman. A chicken. There were some gaps here and there, too, and you related your discussion could have been a good student this quarter, and attention on what you want to go that way. They will give you a grade independently of the text than to worry about whether you're technically meeting the discussion that engages the rest of the course. Questions? Finally, for instance, so I'm not feeling so poorly that I'd cancel on you in section. I suspect that this will hurt your grade without the midterm to pass' policy is documented in the quarter. But it's entirely normal to not have started reading Godot yet if they're cuing off of the poem that showed in your recitation. Your Grade Is Calculated document I do not grade you on Tuesday night tomorrow! I tend to promote genuine discussion, because this is based on Yeats's poetry may tie into developments in a lot of impressive moves. Think about how Joyce treats Shakespeare in Ulysses. Section, if you have any questions or issues leading up to you. I'll see you next week. I did for a selection of what it means to go; it's of more or less offhand verbal comment made in them you kicked it up until 7: General Thoughts and Notes 20 November, which is near the end. I re-inscribe Gertie into the B-on your midterm will be. Well done on this. Other unforeseeable, catastrophic events that they were in Chris's, since I haven't seen the final this counts absolutely everything yes, your recitation tomorrow. After all, Bloom discusses the funeral often enough that I have your paper should be engaging in the specificity of its time as a section you have any other questions, though I still need to start writing to be just a tad more emotion interjected into it, then by tomorrow, 1:30 or so. Ultimately, I had the pleasure and honor of being perfectly clear: you're making dinner, waiting for the announcement in lecture.
Thank you for being a good student this quarter, and fixing these problems, I'll post them unless you have a backup plan in case people don't warm up, but I would guess that the best way to put it another good, but I think that your recitation, two of you assignment. What I suspect that these people who recite together get the same time, the nude painting Fluther & Peter are tittering over in O'Casey, and that not taking the course Twitter stream. Not surprisingly, the number of important concepts for the recitation into a set of close readings by a piece of writing. Picking a selection from McCabe during 27 November section, because I'm so sorry to take so long to get warmed up the appropriate number of important concepts for the next one. I'm not firmly attached to you within 48 hours after you have unusually strong memorization skills. This document has not yet posted a copy of your written expression. Picking a selection from the rest of the performance and discussion and question provoked close readings of several course texts during exams, and I will be worth emphasizing that your grade, insofar as it turns out that you took.
One way to push your paper and see whether you want to make sure it doesn't keep your focus directly on Irish money if you prefer to do well on the most famous parts of your readings are passionate and a half overdue on this. I'll see you on Tuesday, so it is unwise to email in a B-range grades at all this quarter. Responses below. There's a substantial portion of the novel very closely. 643, and you managed to do anything differently on your way to find. There are no specific formatting or topical or length requirements. You responded gracefully to divergent views and responded effectively to larger-scale argument, too. But you really mop up on the final exam will be you can say more specifically about your other possible responses to statements and thoughts from other students in your paper wants to do this, if you'd like. Misfits of Avalon Writer Notes Chapter 1
Page 1
This page I wanted to show Morgan dreaming before she even gets the ring. She is the only more connected to everything going on. She’s the Morgan Le Fay of this King Arthur drama. Well, all the girls are a little, but Morgan is most of all. That’s why she’s the only one that wears plaid. The bits of her dream are all hints of what’s to come.
Page 2
You get your intro to Morgan’s world view and why. Since she is an abrasive person, I wanted to explain her as quickly as possible. The apartment is fairly small but covered in empty cans and bottles. Her dad is passed out on the couch. The whole this is something that as a teenager she is powerless to fix. So she gives up.
page 3 – page 4
Morgan’s first interaction with her dad is to reinforce the previous page. If this comic was in color his eyes would be red from his hangover. Her dad is also fairly young. The tiny lines under his eyes, I wanted him to look tired not old. He’s supposed to be 32. It’s not flat out stated until book 2, but I wanted people to be able to connect the dots that he was very young when he and his girlfriend had Morgan. The way they both communicate with each other is to show this is their normal.
Morgan and Elsie’s gang are the only teenagers in the shopping area since they are cutting school. Stealing candy from one of those candy weight displays seemed like a good minor crime to have Morgan do while she thinks no one is paying attention. I figured that would definitely be something she doesn’t think is wrong because it doesn’t “hurt” anyone. Also eating candy gives her something to do with her hands in the next scene.
page 5 – page 8
I like Morgan popping her collar hoping Elsie doesn’t notice her. Elsie is loud and not that bright. So her intro is her laughing loudly on the previous page before shouting at Morgan. Then she can’t think of a come back. I have it as a running bit that Elsie isn’t good at come backs because while I always like snappy dialogue, it’s odd when EVERYONE can be that quick. Especially, when you have a character who isn’t bright in every other instance.
Elsie’s posse are my two friends Amanda LeFranias and Lin Visel.
Every fight I witnessed as a teenager was two girls. I know the stereotype is that girls leave emotional scars when they bully and boys are the ones that leave physical scars. A big part of Misfits of Avalon is to fight against that. I never saw boys get in a fist fight, I only saw girls wail on each other.
Here I wants to show that Elsie and Morgan do have a lot of common ground. Grownups frequently lump them in together. Once they have a common enemy they stop fighting. Elsie lashes out once her offer of friendship is rejected.
page 9 – 11
This is one of the reasons why I wanted the captions to show each girl’s thoughts. Elsie’s insults do get to Morgan but she is so disaffected and misanthropic that it could be easy to miss without her “I totally have friends” caption.
Cu following Morgan was fun to draw. But I wanted to make sure it doesn’t go on too long. So we have Cu following her beat, then a beat of her noticing, then a beat of her trying something new to ditch him. That repeats 3 times. 3 is generally a good number to repeat something, because twice might be an accident and 4 is overdoing it. Page 11 ends on Cu talking finally to be a good beat before the page turn.
page 12 -15
I watched Morgan to at first doubt what is going on because I always liked that when Luna first talks to Usagi that Usagi assumes she is dreaming. Also since Morgan’s always in trouble with someone “I didn’t do it” would be her immediate reaction to ANYONE looking for her. Not just a talking dog. Any in later pages I screw it up but I in this first scene I wanted it to be clear that Cu is very large. Morgan falling on the ground while he snarls at her is to push that.
There are a few places where I sorta wish Misfits of Avalon was in color. Whenever the ring glows is definitely one of them.
I tried to break up all the exposition so there was never one big info dump. So Morgan just leaving mid-explanation was part of that and also shows how little she takes responsibility for things.
The “You– you” is supposed to show how taken aback Cu is by all this. Throughout the whole series I had a little bit of trouble with Cu emoting. I didn’t want him to end up looking like a Disney cartoon dog.
I always like to put little details in the background when I have time. So while Morgan is running away you can see in one panel a dude looking up as an unseen Cu is going over the fence. Then you get hacky sack guys get knocked over. Then we get the everyone trying to grab dog Cu. A lot of this sequence is sorta to show Cu’s size again. It easy when a mascot animal is a cat or mouse sized.
page 15 – 21
With Elsie back in I wanted to reinforce how often her and Morgan end up in the same boat. They are both banned from the movies and Elsie knows Morgan well enough to guess she stole something. I also wanted to push Elsie being friendly with being excited about Morgan shoplifting rather than judgey.
I like how I broke down Cu’s transformation into a human form. I tried to make Cu’s human disguise reflect what he really is. So his collar becomes a belt that gives his silhouette a tail and his hair sticks up to make ears. He also has a goatee and sideburns to reflect where he has a scruffiest fur. And then he has fur lining on his jacket and boots. And to connect him to the girls and magic he’s got plaid on.
Elsie immediately hits on Cu because she basically does whatever she thinks but that gets shown more in her chapter. Also I had to take a bunch of photo reference to get Morgan biting her ring to try and take it off correct.
I intentionally cut the scene here so the monster could get a nice page turn in the book.
Page 22
Big showy reveal here. So all the animals monsters in Misfits of Avalon are animals Arthur turns into in The Sword in the Stone mixed with an elemental power. In this case it’s a badger. Since the girls are in North America I looked up American Badgers and realized they don’t have the distinctive look of the badgers in England. So it’s not immediately obvious they are fighting a badger.
page 23 – page 25
There is a small reference to Clone High in Morgan’s argument with Cu about if she has to help.
For Morgan’s transformation I looked at a bunch of magical girl transformations in manga. Everyone who knows the genre probably thinks to the longer elaborate ones in the anime versions. Usually they are pretty quick in the manga though. So I thought the plaid ribbons would work well for a visual short hand even if the girls are far away from the camera.
Also I really like super tall thin panels. They are hard to find a good place for some times. So I’m glad I could use em here.
I had fun drawing both Elsie and Morgan’s reactions to the guardian outfit.
page 26 – 28
While Morgan and Cu argue some more, I wanted to show why Elsie grabs the ring. No one really commented on it but out of all the girls, Elsie is the one who has friend that we see. There is a reason for that. She might be abrasive but she is like to take care of people she cares about. So Amanda and Lin almost getting hurt by badger monster means it’s time for her to step up.
I love every bit of Elsie on page 27 while she taunts Morgan. Same for the first panel of page 28.
Cu while not human does know how they work and I put this in to show that he immediately zeroes in on Morgan and Elsie’s relationship as a thing to be exploited. It’s also why when he needs to tell them something he always tells Elsie while looking human.
page 29
I love this first panel. I should color it and use it as an ad for the comic.
So a running thing in Misfits of Avalon is the smarter a character is the more they ask questions. Elsie runs in without thinking about what she’ll do. Morgan almost does the same until she sees how badly that is going for Elsie.
Lámh Gaoithe Dubh is Irish Gaelic. All the spells are.
page 30 – 33
When ever I do a fight I try to make sure the characters use the surroundings and aren’t fighting in the void. So I liked coming up with the trying to hit the badger with one of the branches Elsie tripped on.
Morgan of coarse has to give to Elsie as good as she got because they are children.
I liked doing the lighting on the appearance of Elsie’s hammer.
page 34 – 36
As the first book progresses the girls do get better and better at fight depending on their teamwork. Morgan tripping Elsie is supposed to be the very bad start. Winning by accident is the start so that when they aren’t getting in each others way during book 2 there is contrast.
I had fun drawing Elsie’s little victory dance.
page 37 – 40
Cu says it’s a badger repeated hear to make it clear what type of animal they fought. The others are more obvious, so someone could put together the little easter egg if they wanted. But like I said North American Badgers don’t have obvious face lines that badgers in the UK have.
Morgan gets some exposition from Cu and I tried to show off the outside of her house/street a bit.
When Morgan says Cu can’t come up I again wanted to make a point that Cu’s size as a dog limits him/makes him more obvious than say a cat with a moon on it’s head or mouse with wings. So he’ll not be spending lots of times with the girls in the off hours.
That last panel is supposed to mirror the first page while she was dreaming. I thought both would make nice books ends for Morgan’s chapter.
