Okay, after catching up on 113.6k words, I am here to ask questions. (Sorry, work on slowly losing my fixation on Merlin caused me to get behind the last four months.) A lot happened in the four chapters I got behind on, and I have a couple questions.

First question is why did you decide to cut The Secret Sharer? I guess I’ve always seen that as a really good magic reveal episode and also just a good episode setting up for future characters in season five. Although, I kind of assumed you’d have the magic reveal in The Sword in the Stone because of how you’ve been building the story. How you did the magic reveal of Merlin having no other choice was realistic, though. If he was put in that situation, that’s what he would’ve done. I just didn’t know if there was a certain reason you decided to cut that episode.

Second question deals with the lamia. First, love that Elyan is aroace. I like that no one is judgmental or tells him he hasn’t found the right person yet. Very nice and refreshing. I was just wondering if the change that everyone attracted to women being affected by the lamia was to reveal he is aroace and Gwen is attracted to women as well. Or did it stem to wanting Elyan and Merlin to have that moment where they finally really talk to each other? (Which they should’ve done in the show. It’s clear they care for each other, but it would’ve been nice to see that kind of conversation in canon.)

Lastly, not a question, but I feel very confident in love confession being the next chapter. It only makes sense because Arthur is like, “well, guess I just need to get married” because he believes Merlin does not feel the same way about him. I have literally nothing to bet on it and could very much be wrong, but I’m still confident in this. Intense slow burn is good for this; however, I want them to be together for the entirety of season five. Like dude, let them have this, please.

Also, I read The Sword in the Stone while at work and kept getting annoyed when my coworkers would come over to ask me questions because I was trying to finish up reading. Apparently AO3 went out during this, but I didn’t know so the chapter length saved me.

Okay, hopefully I don’t disappear for four chapters again. (No promises, though. Blame my job.)

in answer to your question regarding secret sharer this was actually one of the most interesting chapter cuts for me - it was actually included in the plan up until the point i got up to it, when i realised that the plot of the episode itself no longer works in oafk because of arthur’s character development- in the show the only reason that episode actually works is because arthur doesn’t trust/believe merlin enough to listen when he says it isn’t gaius to blame and is instead agravaine - but in oafk arthur trusts merlin so completely i couldn’t make that work without it seeming largely out of character for oafk!arthur and merlin/arthur’s relationship - for ,,,, other reasons that i cannot reveal it didn’t really impede anything to cut it altogether so i thought it was better to do that than try to force character decisions that would feel out of place (however i agree it’s a great episode for magic reveals and if you haven’t read it i highly recommend turning the page by queerthedagger it’s amazing)

in regards to lamia, aroace elyan is truly one of my favourite details to get to include and i’m so glad it’s gotten such a positive reception - the lamia does actually affect people attracted to women even in the show (the reasoning for why gwen isn’t affected in canon) - it’s meant to be implied that merlin isn’t affected because of his magic, but weirdly gwen never really questions that beyond an initial “huh that’s strange” - i just leaned heavier on the attraction part of her spell so that merlin has a cover for his magic, and subsequently it gave me a great opportunity for him and elyan to talk which i really wanted to happen because i think their dynamic is an extremely fascinating and moving one - aroace elyan and bi gwen has been sprinkled throughout other chapters too but this one was a great way to properly confirm both of those details

and i love your theory regarding the love confession !! i guess we’ll have to wait for the next chapter to see if you’re right or not 💕 alas i must keep my lips sealed

So...not to be inappropriate or offensive or anything (you can choose to answer this ask if you want) but I'm wondering about something.

I don't know if it's a common thought but a lot of people seem to think that people from the Victorian era are really sensitive to dirty or vulgar imagery. Even the slight and subtle ones (*ahem* ankles *ahem*).

That being said, how do you think the flying squad would react to stuff like that? Considering their personalities, I'm a little curious and would love to hear your thoughts too.

Sorry if this ask seems kind of long. I wasn't sure if you'd answer something like this. Again, it's your choice of you want to or not.

Don't worry; the question is fine with me. It's not like you are asking anything NSFW-specific, so I'm okay with answering it for you. But thank you for giving me the choice. Now, as for how I think the Flying Squad react to scandalous (yes, even the ankles) things:

(It's not NSFW or anything explicit under the cut, but I'm adding it just in case.)

Arthur Wright

Since he's one of the biggest "gentlemen" on the Squad, I think he would be easily embarrassed by things related to scandalous and sexual things. I'm not sure if I would go as far as to say he would get flustered by someone's ankles, but out of the entire Squad, I would say he'd be most likely to! Arthur isn't such a prude that he wouldn't engage in sexual acts, but it would be reserved for someone he trusts and loves enough to be that intimate with.

Isaac Bontamps

Like Arthur, Isaac is also a proper gentleman and, therefore, values modesty. While he has seen a lot in his lifetime, he's not much more desensitized to vulgar things compared to Arthur. Isaac is also easily flustered and embarrassed when someone is rather forward towards him. He also tries to respect others' modesty and would never take advantage of someone. Isaac would sooner give someone his coat to cover themselves than ogle at their body.

Maddie O'Malley

Even though Maddie's heard her fair share of innuendos and watched some more "eye-opening" shows, it still doesn't take much sometimes to make her blush as red as her hair! But she isn't as modest as some of her coworkers and isn't afraid to try some of the latest fashion trends, even if they are on the more "risque" side. Plus, we know she isn't against having sex before marriage, so she's not as traditional as most are when it comes to those kinds of things.

Charlie Dupont

Charlie is similar to Maddie in that vulgar things are a little more common among their generation than Arthur and Isaac's. But that doesn't mean you'll catch Charlie being inappropriate towards others; he's still a gentleman, after all! He'll blush when faced with someone dressed in less clothes than he's used to, and he'd rather not engage in a conversation that crosses into the dirty category. However, like Maddie, he's not as traditional as others but still respects people's modesty and purity.

Richard "Dick" Wells

Since I headcanon Dick to be AroAce, I think he's the least affected by dirty or vulgar things out of the Squad. Everything he sees is through eyes focused on seeing things for their scientific values and not for their "sexiness." You could say or show Dick anything scandalous, and this man wouldn't bat an eye at it, least of all blush!

Evie Holloway

With Evie being the youngest on the Squad and the one who is the most sheltered from the world, thanks to her library, it doesn't take much to fluster Evie. But don't let her innocence fool you; I can so see Evie reading risque romance novels, what minimal of them exist in her time. And after becoming friends with Diego and getting together with Katherine, Evie gains more confidence. While she is still easily flustered, she's less likely to hide behind a book when she sees or hears something dirty.

Viola Pemberton

Given her love of theatre and arts, I'm sure Viola is no stranger to things that are on the more scandalous side. After all, there are plenty of statues and paintings featuring naked people from all over the world! But that doesn't mean she's not modest. Viola can still get flustered by things that are too dirty for her, and she always prefers to cover up rather than wear revealing clothes. While she has judged people's fashion choices before, Viola knows it's not her place to force people to dress more modestly.

Rose Zhao

Similar to Dick but not on the same level as him, it takes a lot to make Rose flustered. She's seen many, MANY things while working in the deep, dark corners of Concordia, and she's no stranger to dirty things... And I'm not talking about mud! Plus, given that she wears the most revealing outfit out of the Squad, she's obviously comfortable with showing off her assets. (But that's not an invitation to stare; I imagine many have learned this by receiving a metal fist to the face!) That said, it doesn't matter what a person wears or says; Rose will only blush when something is VERY obscene!

Diego del Lobo

Diego is almost on par with Rose and Dick until someone flirts with him, that is! While Diego can make anyone blush with his carefully selected words and meaningful gestures, Diego can become a blushing mess when he's on the receiving end of the flirting! But, he can handle most things that make the average person blush, like scantily clothing or sexual conversations. He loves looking at pretty things and isn't one to shy away from something as simple as ankles...

Argo Acquafredda

(Doing this one for funsies😉)

Even though he did date Diego and is no stranger to receiving flirting, Argo is uncomfortable with seeing and hearing dirty things. He's gotten his fair share of unwanted advances and is disgusted by what people think is appropriate to say. And while he has worn some risque outfits in the past, Argo prefers modest attire. But he can handle hearing some vulgar things (he did grow up around sailors), so he's not as innocent as some people might think. He just doesn't understand a lot of innuendos.

Hopefully, I managed to stay on topic with my answers! It felt like I was going a little off track at some spots...

This was definitely different from my usual request, but it was a good brain teaser nonetheless! Thank you for the ask.

Second of all, I would like to make another request, if that's alright with you.

This had been on my mind for quite a while, but what if MC was Aroace? Id like to think that if they were, instead of dating the characters, they would 'adopt' them as their own children.

Hence, came the idea of MC and Barbatos 'babysitting' the characters while they run around causing chaos. I feel like Barbatos would be mature enough to take care of himself. As for the others, not so much.

Aroace MC adopting the characters

As someone who was a mom/dad friend for a long time, I can definitely see an aroace MC adopting some of the characters instead of dating them – especially the brothers. How did they survive before MC? Anyway, I’m going to get to headcanons now:

Regardless of sexual and romantic attraction, a lot of the characters pull MC into their issues and open up to them. The brothers and Diavolo have so many unresolved issues; they need more people in their lives who can care for them and help them out.

Mammon, Diavolo, and Satan need another parent figure so bad – all for different reasons.

Mammon needs someone to stick up for him and help him make better choices on occasion. There’s nothing inherently bad about Mammon; he’s subject to his sin like any other demon, but he’s more likely to get himself in trouble. Once MC decides to friend-adopt Mammon, and let’s face it, it wouldn’t take long for MC to realize that this poor boy needs help, there’s a slight drop in his overall schemes. More importantly, the severity of the consequences of Mammon’s plots have decreased. Everyone – even the members of Purgatory Hall, Diavolo, and Barbatos – noticed that Mammon had been reigned in slightly.

However, even better than any of that, Mammon feels happier and better about himself. He may act cocky most of the time, but there’s something so incredibly fragile about him. That’s where a parental MC would really shine.

Admittedly, Mammon had done something stupid, but now he was being assaulted with insult after insult from his brothers. Sure, they all were having a rough time because of Mammon’s failure, but that was no excuse to be so cruel. Their insults were starting to dig deep and damage Mammon’s thick skin. He was seconds away from running out of the house and gambling until he felt better, but the familiar sound of parental-MC’s voice saves the day. “That’s enough, everyone. Mammon made a mistake, and he’s here trying to resolve it. I know it’s inconvenient, but you’re all guilty of causing trouble. There’s no need to be cruel. You should all apologize to Mammon, and Mammon, you should tell your brothers that you are sorry for getting them wrapped up in this chaos.”

Satan needs a better parent to help him work with his anger. He’s so violent and it causes him unimaginable pain, but no one else seems to be able to help, until he met MC and they adopted him.

An aroace MC would probably adopt all of the brothers, but Lucifer needs babysitting slightly less than his other brothers, so sometimes he can help co-parent. Unfortunately, he’s usually a handful when his brothers are also causing trouble. He’s terrible at diffusing a rowdy situation in a healthy way. He’s the kind of older sibling who either just yells and resorts to violence or sits back while his brothers destroy everything and tells them “Mom/Dad/MC is going to be so mad at you – guess I’ll be the favorite now.”

Diavolo is capable of being the worst handful ever. He just wants to have a good time, get his way, and feel loved. The extremes he is willing to go to wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t so powerful. As such, Barbatos is unfortunately, primarily preoccupied with watching over Diavolo.

Barbatos appreciates how helpful you have been since “adopting” the other characters. He doesn’t know how he survived on his own for so long. His life is so much easier now that he has a few extra hands. Sure, the brothers and Diavolo aren’t actual children, but they’re so exhausting sometimes, and they should not be left unsupervised.

To thank you, Barbatos brings packed lunches at least once a week. They’re always better than any food available at RAD – and Barbatos usually makes them look so pretty or cute. He’s often made the Devildom version of rice balls that look like sheep or crows.

Simeon can probably also hold his own about as well as Barbatos (unless he gets drunk or gets so into writing that he stops taking care of himself).

Solomon, is hit or miss, like Lucifer. However, Solomon’s main issue is that he teases and plays with people too much and is so certain that he can get out of any bad situation, that he just makes trouble. Furthermore, he’s lived a long time, and he hasn’t really been cared for much in the past few centuries. He goes out of his way to get MC to pay attention to him a bit: he pranks the brothers, or teases Luke too much, or asks for you to make mundane decisions for him. He completely overlooks the reasons he already has for MC watch over him like his disregard for his own safety sometimes, his atrocious cooking and questionable ability to feed himself properly, and his sleep schedule that suffers whenever he finds something interesting to study.

Aside from Simeon, Luke is the most helpful at Purgatory Hall.

Shopping trips with Simeon and Barbatos are a must. All three of you can get supplies and/or ingredients while venting about “the kids” and just enjoy the peace of being around other fully-capable adults. Sometimes, you all grab a drink and try to one-up each other with chaotic tales of what your “kids” have done.

“Luke got into an argument with Mammon, and when he turned to Solomon for help, Solomon put a curse on Mammon so that all of his pens would burst as soon as they were used. That included the pen he lent to Lucifer that morning and the pen he gave you later that day, MC. I’m so sorry about that, by the way.”

“It’s not your fault. Anyway, two days ago, Satan destroyed the wall connecting Asmo’s bedroom and his private bath, and somehow, Satan set fire to Asmo’s bathtub. You see, Satan accidentally opened a package intended for Asmo because the box had a cat print on it. He assumed it was the comic series set he had purchased recently and opened it without looking. Turns out Asmo bought a cat-themed butt plug, and Satan was so mad about it that he immediately broke the toy and threw it through the living room wall – not at, through.”

“You’d think he would be into an item like that. Well, Diavolo agreed to house a dozen shape-shifting members from a traveling circus at the castle on the condition that they agree to an interview for the RAD Newspaper Club. I woke on a Tuesday morning to half a dozen crows sitting on the railing along the stairs mocking and attacking the Little D’s, a snake stuck in the dining room chandelier, two wolves play-fighting in my garden, an ostrich running through the halls, a hippo in one of the larger baths, and a you-know-what trying to make themselves breakfast in my kitchen.”

I've noticed that my headcanon for Good Omens seems to be more, I guess aroace* than most people's? I'm not at all against other interpretations, which of course are much more entertaining fanfiction-wise, but imo the canonical story makes more sense if Aziraphale and Crowley don't actually realize they're in love until the end of Season 2. Like if very early on both of them filed "love" (and physical expressions thereof) under Human Stuff That Doesn't Apply to Us, and didn't consider it again.

*Or, not even that. They just don't have any idea. Yet. There's the obvious parallel of how Aziraphale had no interest in food at all until he tried that first ox rib...

Here's how it goes in my head:

In 1941 when Aziraphale says "That's what... friends? are for," he's not debating between saying "friends" and something more than friends. He's not quite sure yet that they're friends at all, that it's okay to use that word.

In 1967, Aziraphale's "You go too fast for me, Crowley," isn't meant as a declaration of love. He means that he isn't comfortable with this level of, let's call it casual intimacy, with a demon. He can't justify spending time with Crowley without an agenda or reason. (He gets there, of course.)

In 2019, does Aziraphale stay at Crowley's apartment after the bookshop burned down? I think that he does but Crowley doesn't! I think they do the body swap on the bus, and then Crowley!Aziraphale (did I do that right? Aziraphale disguised as Crowley) stays at the apartment and Aziraphale!Crowley hangs out somewhere else so that Aziraphale will be more comfortable. It seems like, when they meet in the park the next day, that's the first time they're seeing each other that day.

Anyway, neither of them thinks that they love the other one, not in the sense that humans would use the word. They're friends. They just... like being around each other. They trust each other. They make excuses to be near each other. They can't imagine existing without each other. That's all. It can't be love, love is a human thing.

But then the exchange with Nina that ends with "Other people's love lives always seem so much simpler than our own" makes Crowley rethink things, take out everything that he feels about Aziraphale and examine it in this new light. And he's a bit stunned to find that it does pretty much look like what humans call love. (And then he goes and drinks a lot and yells at Jimbriel. Processing.)

So that's where Crowley is, in the Final Fifteen. He's been sitting with this new "love" concept for a day or so, not a lot of time but more than Aziraphale gets.

And their (yes, first) kiss results from Crowley desperately reasoning that if this human thing called love applies to them, then maybe kissing would work too? One fabulous kiss and we're good?

No surprise, honestly, that Aziraphale doesn't understand or accept it right away, he'll need more time to adjust to this new idea. Crowley definitely went too fast for him there, not that Crowley had a choice.

Am I hopelessly naive? Well I mean yes, but.

OKAY. SO. leaving out a lot of details because their story takes place entirely in a huge crossover roleplay and it'd be fucking wild if halfway through i was just like "so anyways, dimentio-" so we will not do that <3 no info about these guys is on my blogs. they're only on discord sorry.

ANYWAYS.

so. riley and kiara are sisters, with riley being th younger sister, at 12 (kiara is 16). kiara's dad actually found riley alone in the woods one day, and, with seemingly nobody else looking for her, took her in. neither he nor kiara knows about her biological parents but judging from how riley acted and how scared she seemed when he found her he hopes they never come back for her (they will! well. her bio mom will. her bio dad isn't relevant)

riley was basically very jumpy and anxious for the longest time because of how her mom treated her but eventually she came out of her shell and now shse's so sillygirl /pos she's very close with kiara and also close with kiara's friends it's really nice. kiara is really quiet mostly but undeniably Very Cool and she's also a streamer (sometimes she streams playing games with her friends or with riley too!)

however! a lot of stuff happens to riley, like an obscene amount. she got possessed, once. she got kidnapped into a fucking void dimension for a while. and she even got mind controlled. and kiara couldn't take seeing her sister hurt so often and even though she can't do much she has to try to get her sister back, so she ends up joining this vaguely shady organization who promises to help get riley back.

and! it works. sort of. they manage to catch the guy who mind controlled riley, with some outside help, and kiara questions him for a way to reverse the mind control. but he say he can't just reverse it like that. BUT. he offers her something. if they let him go, he'll give them something that they could use to try and reverse engineer a way to get riley back.

but if kiara lets him go, then he could go on to cause more mayhem. mind control more people. possibly even destroy the world.

but like. small price to pay for your sister being okay. so kiara, after some hesitation, lets him go. and, for the time being, they've even gotten away with it. sure, someone else got mind controlled, but not riley. never riley again. and nobody suspects that they let him go, at least not to her knowledge.

but she still feels a little bit bad about it. i mean, who wouldn't? sure, she can tell herself it will work out and that they had no choice, but she knows it's not true. and the truth is, riley wouldn't have really wanted that. but riley, despite having more confidence in herself now, is insanely self-sacrificial, and would have said it's better for everyone if she was simply gone forever if that meant everyone else would be safe.

other fun bonus things include:

riley is a realm-hopper. she doesn't know it yet. realm hoppers can basically teleport and travel between dimensions. kiara is vaguely aware of this but hasn't told riley about it yet

WIP Wednesday

from the untitled Christian and Livia fic

Although yesterday had quite confused him, today, Christian knew very well that Livia was asking him on a date. There was no other reason the other man would be asking about coffee two days in a row. But Christian had never actually been on a date, mostly due to lack of interest. The two people he ever did have interest in, a boy in high school and a man in college, hadn’t felt the same about him, so it hadn’t gone anywhere. For a long time, Christian had thought he was aroace. It took years, but finally, in his first year of college, he realized he was actually demisexual and also very, very picky. So Christian didn’t go on dates. It was so unlikely anything would come of them, and Christian had absolutely no interest in even kissing anyone, much less sleeping with them, and that was where everyone wanted dates to lead, right? Everyone moved so much faster than he did. By the time he’d even realize he was attracted to someone, they’d get bored or frustrated and move on. But Livia had seemed to have a rough day, rumpled and frowning and his brow furrowed in, and Christian couldn’t bring himself to turn the other man down. Livia really seemed like he needed the company today. Christian just wouldn’t do anything romantic or sexual. He’d just show Livia a shop he really liked that played music so loud they would barely be able to talk. He couldn’t take Livia out for a drink, coffee or otherwise, without it seeming too date-like. But they could easily hang out at an indie record shop without that confusion. But then they stepped onto the train, crowded with rush hour riders, and Livia, small as he was, got shoved straight into Christian’s front. Christian froze. Livia grabbed onto the pole beside them, but then the train screeched to a stop and threw him off balance. Livia’s hands shot out to steady himself, and he grabbed Christian’s bag by accident, and then, somehow, they ended up crammed together, surrounded by other riders, with Livia’s hand on Christian’s hip. Oh god oh god oh god Christian couldn’t force him to let go. He didn’t want Livia falling. And he couldn’t say anything without drawing attention to them both. It was only one more stop. It would be okay. Right? When the train stopped again, Livia dropped his hand and Christian gently pushed the crowd around them aside so they could leave. They paused a moment, the only two riders getting out at this stop. The train doors closed and it began to move again, leaving the two in an awkward, echoing quiet. “Thanks for catching me,” Livia finally said. “I almost fell flat on my ass.” “Well. We can’t have that,” Christian said. But Livia didn’t touch him again, and for that, Christian was grateful.

Okay, so now what I've slept and the episode is up on YouTube, I'm gonna dump all my thoughts on For The Future out in a single (very long) post like I did for Thanks To Them.

Of course, that means heavy spoilers, so do not click keep reading unless you've seen the episode (or if you don't care about spoilers for the ep, which makes me wonder how you even got to this post).

Okay so. Oh my titan. Where do I start? Beginning's probably the best choice.

I had a hunch they'd do the 'End of King's Tide from the other perspective' thing, but I can't say any of that quite went how I was expecting. I kinda thought—and I think a lot of other people did too—that King was gonna be fully separated from the rest of group on the BI from the moment the Collector was let out. Lilith and Eda both attempting to confront the Collector and save King immediately was not at all what I really expected.

I'm a little curious as to how the three of them made it to the point that they did after the intro, though. I get that Lilith made new elixir for Eda's curse, but then how did Lilith get un-puppetified ahead of that? I might've missed a detail somewhere, but as far as I can remember that wasn't really elaborated on. Maybe King asked the Collector to un-puppet her?

I do love the new designs for Eda and Lilith though. Lilith's hair being back to her natural color does make it really feel like it's been a long time (plus it makes her color palette look a bit more like the aroace flag hehehe). I also like that Eda's arm hasn't been replaced by anything, just bandaged. I feel like I saw a lot of people's design-guesses for her had given her a new arm in some capacity, and I always kinda felt like it was more in-character for Eda to not really see it as something that needs a replacement.

At least they still seem to be a bit happy.

But, moving on from that, I'm absolutely going absolutely insane over the fact that the Hexsquad and Eda/Lilith/King still haven't actually gotten to reunite. Like, the Hexsquad saw King, but other than that, nobody's really aware of how the other group is doing at this point. It hurts so bad.

But speaking of the Hexsquad, there's a lot to unpack with them. I'm kind of amazed how many personal arcs are still getting fit into the show with so few epsiodes.

Willow's arc especially kind of surprised me, though it's a welcome one for sure! It was—for better or worse for myself—a very relatable thing to see portrayed how it was. And the way it tied into Hunter's whole deal as well was so artfully done.

Like, damn, this hurts.

Immediately following up the Hunter-saves-Willow scene of that arc with Luz's "The only thing I've ever really wanted was to be understood" felt like it was equally calling me out. Like damn, all these characters are so relatable it hurts.

The way Camila and Luz's arcs in this episode informed one another was super elegant. Their daughter relationship is so wholesome.

Amity getting her chance to finally confront Boscha fully was another thing I really wasn't expecting to still make it into the season with it cut down so much. In fact, I can't say I was expecting Boscha to get a chance for any sort of active role. I really need to stop underestimate how well Dana and her team are managing to work with the small number episodes, they clearly know what they're doing.

Which, as it stands, I guess the only member of the Hexsquad who hasn't had a significant season 3 arc is Gus (outside of his role in Hunter and Willow's arcs), but he went through so much in season 2 that I kinda hope he doesn't have to go through anything more.

However, a character I DO hope has to go through more BS is Belos. I'm still kinda reeling from the fact that he apparently already had a new grimwalker on the way, and then tried to POSSESS it. I'm a bit relieved that it didn't work, because I don't think I could've handled it (nor could Hunter, frankly), but Raine being the second option isn't great either.

Moving past main characters;

Getting actual characterization of The Collector has been very interesting, mainly because it seems like everyone seemed to get it pretty right that they're an Enzo Gabriel. I really do wonder how aware they are of the harm they're doing, because it seems to be getting kept a bit vague on the actual truth of that. They seem pretty largely oblivious to the fact that it's anything other than a game, but the edit to the 'bedtime story' seems to imply that they at least know some amount of it.

What affairs? "Seal them up so they never fade"??

Mom-dalia??? How in the name of the titan did she manage to pull off getting to be The Collector's mom-figure instead of getting puppeted immediately. It kind of implies that she somehow hasn't managed to actively do a single thing that annoyed the Collector this whole time, which I'm amazed by. Though, to be fair, Terra apparently hadn't done so either, so the bar might not be that high.

Caleb and the past grimwalkers have me a little confused. Are they ghosts? Guilt-formed hallucinations? Something else? Is there a link between grimwalkers and their creators that means Belos has been getting haunted by all of them this whole time? Regardless, seeing a bunch of the past grimwalkers was not something I expected either.

This shot is haunting as hell.

Mattholomule's name actually being Mat Tholomule does feel like it makes sense in retrospect, but it's also very cursed.

Edric and Emira's reunion with Amity was the first part of the episode that got me to start crying (though it was far from the last.)

Moving past characters...

The scene that revealed String Bean was kind of funny to me because "A dragon? A bird?! Oh, an otter! A spooky bat? Uh, a snake?" is almost definitely a direct callout of the fandom's guesses as time went on. Though, all of the respective guesses are also very in-character for each person (Hunter's "A bird?!" does hurt my heart a little).

The design of The Collector's House/The Archives is a little interesting to me because the way it's floating over The Titan's head makes it look like a halo. Or a crown? I feel like there's some symbolism I'm missing.

New Hexside was a very fun concept in general. I feel like the idea of "a town/society that's entirely composed of schoolchildren" was very accurately portrayed.

I dunno if the scene right at the end was meant to be the 100% canon confession or just lead-up to something in the next episode but I sobbed either way!!!!!

Thoughts About False Claims About TF-EarthSpark & Toxic-Humans Problems With Nonbinary...

[Note: Reading This Post Is Optional. also just in case, this will be a mature audience only type, as well as not for kids....the tags will be in there. this will talk about some mature stuff, and even the stupidity of humans who seem to have a problem with Aces, as well as some of them not getting that “sexuality” happens later in life and no one is just born with it from the start.

okay, found out there was another video that had some human jerk, seeming to have a problem with a nonbinary character in Transformers....well so far in Transformers: EarthSpark.

and well, if it makes them and others like them happy, then maybe the rating can be change to TV-14, since they seem to think that there being a nonbinary character, is corrupting their children.

yeah, ya don’t seem to realize that is what YOU are doing, so stop scapegoating.

also there is such a thing that is called romantic identity, that has nothing to do with that mature stuff, that some humans on both sides, seem to put more important and seem to have a problem with Asexuality...

no matter if I flux or not, some humans who seem to have a problem with Aces of different types, will not be very attractive to me.

and yeah, there are Heteroromantic-Aces, ya insensitive humans.

some will be straight and some will not be, so please get a freaking clue, and stop making assumptions of someone’s romantic identity because of them being Ace, and I am speaking about both sides, and not just the toxic-straight people, who seems to think it is a problem to be Ace....

and yeah, I still think being Aroace can be different for a Cybertronian from Transformers and a Gem from Steven Universe.

for a Gem, like Peridot, she doesn’t feel comfortable about fusing, and she had pointed out that Garnet’s fusion had made her uncomfortable, and yeah she did try to fuse with Garnet, but stop because she didn’t feel comfortable about it.

and Garnet accept Peridot’s choice, and even explain to Peridot why she is fused all the time, which after explaining about it, that she is like Percy and Pierre from Pining Hearts, Peridot’s OTP....

is when Peridot finally understood, and yeah Garnet is a romantic fusion.

and I think over time, Peridot got use to Garnet being herself and always being fused, but it seems that after becoming married (Ruby and Sapphire), Garnet does unfuse at times, and Ruby & Sapphire can do their own things that don’t involve them being Garnet, and they can still be in love and together, even without being Garnet most of the time.

for Gems, and Half-Gems, fusion can be either romantic or platonic.

and if a Gem doesn’t want to fuse, they shouldn’t be forced into it.

Peridot, if she does decide to fuse, it should be of her own choice, and free will to do so, but if she doesn’t want to, then no one should make her do it.

she’s perfect the way she is, being the small adorable gem she is.

also Beast Wars, had made me realized some days ago...

that Tigerhawk is a relationship, and was technically the first “Garnet” and romantic fusion, of course it started out with Tigatron and Airazor’s bodies being forced fused together thanks to the Vok, but they had ended up having their sparks find their way to Tigerhawk, and it was Tigatron and Airazor’s choice to have their sparks fuse together and re-enter their new body.

Tigerhawk is a symbol of their love for each other, and is them fused together.

so Tigerhawk, is a romantic relationship, same as Garnet.

Cybertronians combining into a new transformer with their own personality and identity, can be seen as a type of fusion, like Gems.

and with a Cybertronian way of fusion, there can be some who don’t feel comfortable about fusing and combining with other Cybertronians.

and they shouldn’t be force to combine if they feel uncomfortable about it.

Cybertronians and Gems, who are Aroace, or just Ace, shouldn’t be made to fuse or combine if they don’t want to, and shouldn’t be force into it.

the same goes for the thing with some humans, your taking the romantic feeling of love out of it...

it would be interesting, if the rating for Transformers: EarthSpark is changed to TV-14, cause some human jerks still have that problem with Nightshade, and think they are corrupting their children, but once again, Nonbinary Earth Angel right here, oh and if anyone is corrupting the children, it’s your disgusting scapegoating, at least I can acknowledge that my repeating a bad word when I was just a baby, isn’t the characters from the movie or show’s fault, it is the fault of those who are suppose to watch me and make sure I don’t hear those type of words until I am at the proper age to hear it, and same goes for letting me watch a movie I was way too young to view before, which might be fully the fault of one of my much older cousins and not my Mom, but after talking about it with her before, I might of forgot that it was one of my much older cousins who let me watch a movie I wasn’t old enough to see yet....and I’m sure not gonna scapegoat the movie for something that family of mine, should of known better.

and yeah, some might not realize about the early exposure later in life and figuring out that it isn’t the mature content that is at fault, there is just some mature content that is meant for a much older and mature audience, and that goes for some live-action movies, cartoon shows, cartoon movies, books, video games and some anime, that wont be for kids, and some humans that keep scapegoating need to understand that, and stop placing the blame on the mature content.

anyway, like I was trying to say before I got off a bit off topic there.

if Transformers: EarthSpark did have it’s rating change to TV-14 or maybe like TV-15, but still keep it clean and not super mature.

it could touch on Aroace or just Ace, maybe the Terrans, could find out about combining, and one of them, might not feel comfortable about it.

like Megatron could sit down and talk with the Terran about it, plus even if the other Terrans might not show a interest in combining, they might not end up feeling as uncomfortable about it as their sibling is feeling about it.

and the one who could be feeling uncomfortable about it, could end up being Hashtag Malto, even if she can take control of like GHOST technology, but what she does with her abilities, will be different from combining with another Cybertronian.

at first, I thought about Nightshade Malto, being the one who’s Ace, but it might be interesting if it turn out to be Hashtag.

in Cybertronian years, the Terrans are possibly Teenagers, even if they are like the “younger siblings” of Robby and Mo.

even if the Terrans have no interest in combining, and don’t have a interest in trying it, the one who might feel really uncomfortable about it, could be Hashtag.

Hashtag might even have to have both Megatron and her Mom, Dot, to go over to her and talk to her about it, and her feelings about being uncomfortable about combining with another Transformer.

Megatron, could explain to her that she doesn’t have to combine with anyone if she doesn’t want to, and if someone asks her to, she will have to firmly tell them no, and that she doesn’t feel comfortable with it.

it might be possible that Hashtag, could also end up not interest in forming a romantic relationship with anyone, but she could still have moments where she has a crushes, but she doesn’t have a interest in combining.

for Humans, being Ace or Aroace, can still be different from how a Gem and Cybertronian is Ace or Aroace, but only some of it is slightly the same, but at the same time not 100% the same.

I think it could be possible that Hashtag might have a small crush on Skywarp.

which, maybe it could turn out that Hashtag could be Sapphic-Ace.

but knowing how some humans are in real life, it might not be openly said in the show.

and yeah, if some humans do have a problem with the whole Terran Cybertronian being Nonbinary, then maybe what will get them to zip it, would be a rating change....they are just a lost cause anyway, well, those who can’t see that their so called claims about what the show has, is what they themselves are doing.

I can’t be the only one, who suspects that what they are claiming, is exactly what they are doing themselves, that they are the ones who are doing some form of corruption, and if they knew anything, they would know that there are romantic identities that doesn’t have to do with....ya know.

of course, it isn’t like they are the only ones who have a problem getting through their heads, both sides seem to not get that there is more to love than just the physical thing.

and yeah, if Optimus and Megatron ended up combining as Megamus, or maybe even Elita and Optimus combining as....whatever name they could go by when fused together....

Hashtag could end up feeling a bit uncomfortable about both, and even the thought about having to do that in the future.

Hashtag could still end up getting a crush, and could possibly end up being Sapphic-Ace, but if she ends up not interested in combining and feels uncomfortable about it, but could end up getting use to others who end up combining but still doesn’t feel comfortable with doing it herself, then her feelings should be respected, same with Peridot’s own feelings about fusion.

also, even if there can be some humans who could end up changing their negative views about Aces and Nonbinary, but for those who don’t and still be stuck in their ways of their view about them, they are possibly a lost cause.

even if they do point out that Nightshade being Nonbinary, is “corrupting” and influencing the children, yeah, try looking in a mirror.

a child can’t be told they are nonbinary, that is something that they should figure out for themselves, and sometimes, it wont be right away or even in their childhood when they figure this out.

but if they don’t feel like they are nonbinary or if they are a boy or girl instead of being like the bio-gender they were born as, then they shouldn’t be forced into it, that is just something they need to discover for themselves, and not be told otherwise by either side.

plus it might be a good idea, that a show or movie, ends up pointing this out.

that some humans who seem to have a problem with Nonbinary, and believe that what some humans believe about Transformers: EarthSpark....

could be told off that they are doing what they are claiming what the show is doing, as well as any of the other stuff.

I guess I’m tired of that, those who seem to have a problem with Nightshade being Nonbinary, are just proving they are not so great.

I hope some get what I’m trying to say, without it being misinterpreted...

still hate it when some stuff I try to say, gets misinterpreted, it’s like when you point out some awesome fan comic, reminds you of one of your other favorite shows, but when you do leave a comment about it, of course your words get misinterpreted...

I don’t want my trying to point out how some of those humans who have a problem with Nightshade, and how they are being is just exactly that they are claiming that the show is being. to be misinterpreted.

small misunderstandings are okay, but there can be some that aren’t okay when it crosses a line where feelings can become hurt.

well, excuse me if I’m a descendant of King David, and King Solomon, who happens to be a Earth Angel Enbirl.

and once again, I’m the only Earth Angel I know of, who is a Nonbinary-Girl.

don’t know if there are others like that, and if there are, I haven’t found much info about others who are like that as well.

right now, I’m listening to “Born Without A Heart” by Faouzia.

there can be different types of music to match a feelings of someone, and even use music to listen to, to be like a comfort, even when there is things and people who tend to make you not so happy and might end up triggering ya.

it might be hopeless trying to get some humans to see reason, so maybe to shut them up, it could be best to just change the rating of Transformers: EarthSpark to like TV-14.....if it stops their disgusting complaining, that would be a relief for everyone who had grown tired of their bull slag.

cause I’m tired of their bull slag, and if changing the rating to TV-14, makes them stop it.....then maybe it will help a lot...and I wonder if some might even wonder why I’m Semi-Misanthrope, of course, it isn’t just some toxic-humans I’m semi-misanthrope of....toxic-masculine angels (both fallen and not fallen) are included.....

anyway reading this post is optional, and I don’t really expect this will be read by very many people, not even that the post that talks about my feelings about still not being happy about that fake news that was about Scott Cawthon, cause once again, I didn’t know it was a freaking prank and fake news until after I had finished that drawing, and yeah I had decided to check it out again after finishing it and then I had decided to click on it during that time, and I found out it was all fake news and in a way, not a funny prank....

I might need to try to edit that post that has that drawing once again, and try to hope some understand the mistake and how I didn’t know that it was a fake news at the time. the best thing I can try to do, is try not to think about it.

and I could try to do stuff to try to take my mind off of some toxic-humans who don’t seem to get what they are claiming about EarthSpark, is EXACTLY what they themselves are doing, and even if they might try to deny it, it doesn’t change the fact that is 100% the truth, and the sooner they finally realize this and accept it, the better.

anyway, hope some can understand and not misunderstand, and fully understand why I am tired of those humans who keep throwing bull slag about their dislike about Nightshade....

and if it does get them to stop, maybe changing the rating to TV-14, can get them to stop half of their complaints about Nightshade and the other stuff.

it is best to work out a compromise, that gets them to stop, and also doesn’t make me and others feel insulted and really mad.

I can’t be the only one who has grown tired of it.

and maybe changing the rating to TV-14, will finally get them to stop, and get them to stop throwing that whole “oh, they are corrupting the children.”......cause once again, that is exactly what you are doing even if you throw that whole anti-nonbinary talk around, because it isn’t the people who are making the show, who end up showing a Nonbinary character like Nightshade.

not sure if anyone else had pointed this out, but if no one has before, then someone had to do it eventually.

plus both sides, can’t just try to force a child to be nonbinary or even if they are a boy (even if they were born a bio-girl) or girl (if they were born a bio-boy), that is just something they need to figure out for themselves.

plus they could have romantic identities that of course, has nothing to do with sexuality, I mean seriously, when we start out as little kids, we end up having a different form of feelings than what can end up showing up later in life.

and little kids, don’t need to have their romantic identities, confused with older teenagers and adults, so both sides should be wise to remember that.

for little kids, they start with just romantic identity until they become older teenagers and adults, and if some end up as Aromantic, then their parents should try to understand and respect that, even if they end up as Aroflux.

as humans do mature, they will end up developing the sexuality part, but it can be different for some humans in this world, and there can be some who do end up becoming asexual.

and yeah, I know when I was a little kid, I’m pretty sure I did have some crushes on fictional characters, though I think most of them might of been on cartoon characters, and even if there was some on real people, it would be in the like romantic identity, and not in the other type of way....

and I hope some get what I’m trying to point out and say, and this doesn’t get misunderstood. but yeah, as little kids, they shouldn’t have to worry about the whole sexuality thing, it might not make sense to some...

little kids are still human beings, and yes it is still important to keep them from viewing things that they might not be the proper age to view and they have to wait until they are older and the right age to view it.

though, with how some older humans are, they will possibly find a way to scapegoat the mature content, instead of placing blame on themselves.

even a Toxic-Karen could possibly find a way to place the blame on a mature content that isn’t for her little boy or girl, but she let them watch it anyway because they asked if they could see it or play it if it is a video game, but instead of telling them “No” and saying to “wait until your the proper age, and the answer is No right now.”.....she lets them view it or play it anyway.

and as soon as that happens, the Toxic-Karen will try to act like it’s not her fault.

anyway, I hope that the new Transformers: EarthSpark episodes start soon, and if changing the rating to TV-14 does stop some toxic-people from their complaining about Nightshade being Nonbinary, then hopefully it can work out and the show can get a few more seasons, without the toxic-human bull slag.

anyway, I think I can try to take my mind off that bull slag, by doing things that make me happy, like listening to music, playing video games, watch shows and movies I like, and even reading.

oh, and also talking about some fan theories, which after I post this up, I’m going to talk about that theory about Kris from Deltarune.

I still don’t like the false claims that some people are throwing about EarthSpark, and if changing the rating to TV-14, finally gets them to stop, then so be it....cause I’m just tired of it, and hopefully things will work out and the show gets a few more seasons.

nonbinary people deserve rights, same goes for Earth Angels who are also Nonbinary, and it is a good thing that video I found had points out about Female Angels and debunk about the whole “there only being male angels”...

also if I believe that there is aliens from space, and not just humans, that is my choice to believe it, but not everyone has to agree with it, but could still question about why would humans be the only sentient humanoid.

I mean yeah, the evolution theory can still be true, as well as being created by a higher being, and yeah for all we know, half of our human ancestors were made from clay and had pop out of rock walls or whatever, while only some other percent were fully organics.

there can be different theories about how humans came to be on this planet, and well one of my theories is that only half of our ancestors are natives to this planet, while the other half of our ancestors are from the Andromeda.

so it is possible the Annunaki are real and had played a part in some stuff that happen in ancient time.

and yeah, I’m weird to believe both the spiritual and science, could be both true.

anyway, I think maybe if I take my mind off of what some toxic-people are saying about EarthSpark, and hope things work out and the people who work on the show can find a way to get those toxic-people to stop it, even if it does mean to change the rating....maybe I and others will be okay, even if I might still not be happy with those who kept throwing their dislike for a nonbinary character in Transformers, and I hate their false claims.

because once again, what they are claiming, is exactly what they themselves are doing, even if they try to point the finger to those who make the show, but it might be hopeless to get some of them to see reason, and I don’t feel like trying to get through to them....

anyway hope some can understand and there is no misunderstandings...

and hope some can understand that I rather there be a compromise that doesn’t get everyone on both sides mad, and if those toxic-people fully get their way, they will only end up hurting and upsetting everyone else.

so it’s best to have a way that makes both sides happy.

also, if I have to explain in another post, that little kids only start out with romantic identities until they reach a mature age, then maybe I will...

cause despite how some older humans are, they are pretty much showing they have no clue about it and don’t get that sexuality is a different type of attraction, and while it can also have a romantic attraction next to it, the sexual attraction happens much later in a human’s life....

I think some humans already know this, and might understand what I’m trying to explain about it, at least I hope some understand...

and well, maybe with any luck, I don’t have to try to explain about it again anytime soon....but maybe with some humans, it is possible it needs to be explained to them, and how they themselves didn’t have their sexuality until they matured....cause no one is just born with the sexuality, they might end up forming romantic identity, but the sexuality ends up coming into play much later.

not everyone has to be attracted to someone in that way, and can love someone for the person that is on the inside and not just of how hot or whatever....sure even finding someone attractive, either it be a real person or fictional character, can be like finding them attractive in a different way, like how I found myself having that small crush on Doctor Deep from Sonic Prime.

even Blitzwing and Lugnut from TFA have their own charms, they are just so adorkable in their own way.

even Tucker from Red Vs Blue, had his cute idiot moments like when he thought he went back in time, which once again, when that happen in the much early seasons, it took me re-watching that a few times I think, to finally figure out and come to the realization, that Tucker from that series, was being a cute idiot.....Tucker, why do you have to be so adorkable. XD

anyway besides hoping there will be a few new seasons of EarthSpark,

I hope that the Terrans can do better than the Eon-Boomers that started that mess on Cybertron. and hope some can understand about my feelings and thoughts about some of the people who keep doing that bad mouthing about Nightshade and the whole Transformers having a Nonbinary character, well two characters, cause it has both a Terran and Human Nonbinary characters in the show. anyway, I’m just gonna post this now, and get to work on writing that theory about Kris Dreemurr from Deltarune....

Just a little doubt, as I'm new to this label. I've always shown disinterest in any kind of relationships even after growing up in an environment where all people around me are all about it: I didn't put it much thought on it when I was younger than 16, I only thought - I am too young to worry about relationships.

I'm 19 now. Now I wonder - I'm an young adult. I could worry about it now right? But I cannot imagine myself in it. I won't be able to reciprocate any feelings to the person.

Now the conversations of my peers often go on a sexual tangent - they talk about how someone is "hot", and stuff, and the advances they want to make to win over the said person solely because of that. I have been asked that as well, and I cannot imagine myself in the same position. I was never attracted to people sexually. Even now. They do not want to believe my statement because it's really different from "normal", to them "I'm capping just to seem cool" "Sigma Grindset, eh?" Yada yada.

But the catch is here - I read smut. I enjoy them - only if it is not very graphic - and it also needs to have a reason, and I get aroused - by what the characters are doing to each other. I also am very picky in what type of smut I want to read, and all of them has romantic attraction as underlying reason. I haven't shared this with anyone else.

I kept asking myself - am I just a perverted voyeur who gets off at others? Do I have a problem? Am I still sane?

But then I came across asexual spectrum. And aegosexuality. I have read, and now know basic things. Just want to ask someone who would clarify if it's ok if I can place myself in the aroace-spectrum.

Hello!

Embracing the label aegosexual is a personal choice/decision. There’s probably a lot of people who have never come across the term and feel okay just being “different” or “weird”. But there’s a lot of people too who feel strange or worried they’re a voyeur because of what they enjoy in fiction but don’t want in reality.

While I think you sound aegosexual, and typically believe that most who stumble upon the term and feel it relates to them are most likely aego and can use the term, you can always use ace or asexual or acespec or any other term you like.

Because some feel it’s strange to “automatically” assume an ace who enjoys smut is aegosexual, and I understand that, but most often, they’re also going to relate to other aego traits/stuff and that sounds a lot like you.

Ask Answers: May 15th Part 2

And here’s the next part of the long answer set of the day!

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through?

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove?

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you!

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something?

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2?

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates?

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird?

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

I’m afraid Q’s full name hasn’t been publicly announced yet so I can’t answer here (Q and T are the first letters of the names for the new LIs in Our Life: Now & Forever).

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update? I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive.

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3?

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something.

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants?

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. Right now we’ve filled every role that was open.

I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations?

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted?

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Haha, yeah, there’d definitely be some ABBA songs he was into.

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

I'd like to hear more about your murderbot transmigrator thoughts :))

Okay obviously when I said I wasn’t going to think about a Murderbot/Scum Villain fusion that was more of a goal, which is a lot like a lie. I have pecked out ~1k of prose for it, but none of it is presentable for longer than one line. The problem with this concept is that it’s actually very good, and there are a lot of meaty ideas to dig into with it, like, too many of them.

1. Murderbot would be immedately inclined to empathize with the System and guess at its motivations. Depending on what those are this may still stay an antagonistic relationship, because the way the System leverages its cosmic powers to coerce and strongarm people stomps on a lot of Murderbot’s triggers and is generally a dick move. The points system is just a gamified governor module. But it’s still a relationship, and if the System turns out to be an antagonist, it’s in that role as a fleshed out character with a personality who has been interrogated by someone with every reason to assume somebody made it and has commanded it to act like this for their own reasons.

Murderbot asks its function and designates it NarrSystem (Narrative System) or StorySystem or something because “the System” is too generic coming from its setting.

2. Transmigrating into a human body would be badweird and transmigrating into a human brain would be absolutely horrifying. (SecUnit could transmigrate into a system, but we’ve kind of been there done that with 2.0.) Dysphoria central! Murderbot gets to address that while it has never wanted to be a human, all humans are so convinced that being human is better that on some level it WAS worried that they were right. And now it can say with absolute certainty that they are not and this sucks. But also some things that it would have thought would be fundamentally different are actually the same. It’s just a whole time.

This is part of why I’m deviating from transmigration story standard and full stop making the transmigration a temporary situation, the other main reason being that Murderbot has more going on in its own world than your standard transmigration protagonist.

3. Either Murderbot gets back by hacking the System or it intends to but it’s ultimately the System’s decision. This is a very slow process because it can’t access tech the way it’s used to and the System’s structure is very different from what it’s dealt with before (because it strongly resembles Windows Vista). It needs tech and more control over its situation stat though so it’s going to keep at it until it works. Open your damn menus. SecUnit is going to rig transmigration until it’s like playing The Sims with cheat codes.

4. (This one is for me.) The System still talks in garbled Chinese netspeak, and Murderbot is like. Wow this program speaks in the lost tongue of an ancient civilization. How old is it. I can barely understand it. (Because of the bad memes not the Chinese.)

5. Murderbot gets yeeted into The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon and has to deal with the emotionally exhausting scenario of empathizing with everybody present. It likes the heroes, and it likes the other heroes they’re in conflict with, it likes the more complex villains with fleshed out motivations, and it even has a soft spot for a lot of the side characters and bit villains. This is fundamentally incompatible with how it tries to ration its empathy, assess situations by sorting people into allies/nonhostiles/hostiles, and compartmentalize by nicknaming the people it’s in conflict with things like Target 1, Target 2, and Target 3.

6. The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System, as the specific transmigration variation we’re jumping off of here, was not trying to interrogate the infinity mirror effect of heteronormativity reflecting back and forth between media and people, and as such is not like, a solid narrative about this. That said, this book is basically like:

Shen Yuan reads this giant mess of a book with a lot of straight sex fantasies, not completely without appreciating the romance, but with more antipathy for it than he admits to himself. Then he ends up in the book and thinks he’s meant to enable the romances he read, which he’s so completely resigned to doing he doesn’t notice that the main character is queer and gone on him, or that he, himself, has been studiously suppressing the desires he assumes he should have while unable to perceive what he actually wants and how it affects his behavior.

So the Murderbot version of this is to subvert amatonormativity with your pretty explicitly aroace protagonist whose reaction to fictional romance is tolerant at best. Murderbot embraces its own lack of desire for romance but dances around acknowledging that it desires other relationships and seems to be working around the incorrect belief that romance and friendship are both human things and that’s why it doesn’t engage with them. So:

Murderbot ends up in the immediate leadup to the resolution of a love dodecahedron - maybe surrounding Eden, just as the only named character from TRAFOSM I think we have. And Murderbot is (internally) like...okay...I was never very moved by ANY of these people as romantic choices for you...but I might as well try to guide you to the least offensive ones, I guess. And it’s so mired in expectations based on its foreknowledge of this arc that it doesn’t notice until Eden spells it out that they’re ditching ALL their suitors and have realized they’re complete without romance and want to devote themself to finding their long lost birth mother or farming science or something, which just takes SecUnit tf out.

Possibly I will become really ungovernable and say that after seizing the System’s capabilities Murderbot just offers to take Eden on a reverse isekai right off of Sanctuary Moon, leaving ART’s crew and the Preservation team to be like, Where Did You Just Get This Entire Human.

7. Further going off svsss, there is a meta thread to interrogate by plunking Murderbot into a villain character. It's already an evil robot trope that declined to go evil, this is true in-universe and it knows it, and it has very low expectations of the morals of the group that it belongs to - informed by the same media that was a lifeline to it when it was in a very bad situation - that it is still in the process of working through. The layers.

So yeah there’s a lot going on here. Send help.

King Roman and the Fake Harem

Summary: King Roman has enemies directly outside his walls, pressure from inside his walls to get a harem, and no solution in sight. Until he sees the solution has been right under his nose the entire time. This is the story of how an aroace King gets a harem of advisors.

King Roman sighed and rubbed his eyes. “Ugh, give me a few hours to think of something,” he groaned.

His lead advisor that he’d inherited from his father, who Roman refused to refer to as anything but Orange, protested “But sir, we need a decision soon. It’s already been a week since enemy troops positioned themselves just outside our walls, and we’ve done little besides ask them to leave. That, on top of your lack of harem-”

“I’ll have something for you in two hours, regarding the troops,” Roman said, waving Orange away.

Orange huffed and spun on his heel, leaving the throne room grumbling. Roman brushed a hand over his face. A week into being king and the enemy decides to attack? The nerve!

“You know, if you roll out the catapults to the front gate, that would take care of the troops outside the walls on that side, and then you could concentrate your archers on the rear of the kingdom walls.”

Roman looked over to the side of his throne. Sir Virgil had been his best knight, until he’d been shot by an arrow that had permanently damaged his shoulder. That was 4 weeks ago, he was still in a sling, and ever since he’d been released from the medical wing he’d been making his lack of work everyone else’s problem.

Roman raised an eyebrow. “And just how would you propose moving the catapults from the armory down 100 feet of stairs to the front entrance, hm?”

Sir Virgil shrugged. “Ramps.”

Roman stopped short. Oh, he’s smart. “...very well.” He appraised Virgil. He’ll never be able to be a knight again and he needs something to do, and he’s not too unfortunate-looking… “How would you like a job?”

Virgil adjusted the silks that hid exactly nothing of his upper body so they’d sit comfortably over his still-bandaged arm and shoulder. He was about to join his first ever advisor meeting, and he was beyond nervous. He’d been rather enjoying his life as the first member of Roman’s harem (that so far hadn’t even resulted in a single flirtatious remark, which Virgil wasn’t complaining about but he was certainly confused by), and he didn’t want to do anything to fuck it up.

“Ready?”

Virgil jumped and hissed through his teeth as his shoulder was jostled by the sudden movement.

Roman was frowning. Before Virgil could apologize, Roman asked, “Are you alright? I can have a healer come over. If you’d prefer to sit out this meeting and rest, that would be a more than acceptable course of action.”

Virgil was stunned. “Huh?”

Roman nodded at him. “Your shoulder, it seems to be causing you pain.”

“Oh! It’s not too bad, I’ll be fine. Still getting used to not moving it too much.”

Roman laughed. “Yes, that I have been witness to. Are you ready?”

“Yeah. Do I need to walk, like, meekly or whatever?” Virgil asked, cheeks already heating up at the future humiliation.

A look of disgust came over Roman. “No, I wouldn’t expect that of anyone under my employ.”

Virgil let out a breath. “Alright, cool cool.”

The meeting started out as expected, a few snickers from his former co-workers who were still knights, but nothing Virgil couldn’t ignore. Virgil recognized Orange by his blaze orange ensemble that hurt his eyes (no wonder Roman refused to give Virgil his actual name). When it came time to discuss military tactics, Roman spoke first.

“I would like to introduce my military advisor, Sir Virgil. Sir Virgil, if you would, please announce your strategy for driving off the enemies.”

Before Virgil could get a word out, Virgil’s former boss blurted out, “You’re trusting your military strategy with a common whore?!”

Virgil levelled him with his best death glare. “Call me that again and I’ll cut off your balls and shove them down your throat.”

Only Virgil was close enough to hear the King swallow his laughter at the general’s paling face. Roman cleared his throat and spoke.

“To answer your question, yes. Sir Virgil, if you wouldn’t mind continuing?”

Virgil smirked. “Gladly.” For the next 20 minutes, Virgil confidently discussed his strategy with the catapults and archers, fielded questions, and specified the ideal placements. As the meeting drew to a close and Roman went to do the obligatory schmoozing with top leaders (Virgil noticed with glee how the military personel scrambled to get out, supposedly to “update the troops”), the Lead Advisor of Common Education approached Virgil. Virgil did the customary respectful bow, which the advisor returned.

“I trust King Roman is treating you well?” he inquired, blue eyes sparkling from beneath a sandy fringe.

“Yes, very much so. This fucked up rotator cuff is the best thing to happen to me,” Virgil internally winced at his choice of words. Gonna have to work on that.

The advisor just laughed. “I suppose it must be! Surely, being part of a harem is much more comfortable than being a knight.”

Virgil shrugged, and winced as he once again forgot about his injured shoulder. “Yeah, it is. I’m just glad I can help in some capacity by being a strategic advisor.”

“Yes, yes, that must be quite fun for you,” the advisor purred. Virgil bristled at his condescending tone. “Do let me know if you require more… attention than what King Roman provides.”

Virgil wrinkled his face. He focused on Roman, and heard his attention was on Orange who was insisting that one person could hardly be considered a harem. “I think I’m good.”

“Oh, of course, of course, but do keep me in mind.” And before Virgil realized what was happening, the advisor had patted his ass.

Virgil used his good arm to grab the man’s offending hand, twist him around, bring him to his knees, and place a foot on the middle of his back.

“Ow! You stupid whore, get off-”

“What is the meaning of this?!” King Roman thundered.

Virgil released the advisor. “This guy was perving all over me, and I get I’m part of a harem but I don’t stand for that shit.”

“It was just a love tap!”

King Roman’s face was red with anger. “Sir Virgil, he encroached on your person?”

“Yeah, that’s one way to put it.”

“You are relieved of your duties.”

Virgil sagged while the advisor smiled smugly. Welp, the grapes and silk were fun while they lasted. “Yeah, okay.”

Roman jerked back a bit in confusion. “What? No, you,” he glared at the now-ex-advisor.

The advisor was aghast. “Excuse me? How dare you!”

“How dare you, touching a man without his consent and then having the gall to speak to me in such a tone!”

Virgil was in too much shock to process the rest of the conversation. He came back to his senses just outside the medical wing. Roman was instructing the doctor to recheck Virgil’s bandages as they didn’t seem to quite hold his shoulder still, and sighed in relief when he caught Virgil watching them.

“Virgil, there you are! Are you alright? Say the word, and I’ll arrange for you to speak with our mind doctor.”

Virgil blinked a few times.

Roman turned back to the doctor. “Could he have gone into shock? Does he need-”

Virgil shook his head to unfreeze his brain. “No, I’m fine. I’ve had people trying to kill me, part of the job, I’m okay.”

King Roman furrowed his brow. “Are you sure? Truly, if you need to talk to someone-”

Virgil held his good hand up. “I’m fine, promise. I’ll talk to someone later if I need to.”

Roman sighed in relief. “Thank goodness. Oh! The military is deploying your strategy as we speak! I thought I’d let you know before the good doctor looked you over.”

“Dope! Wait, what?”

King Roman was walking away. “I’ll see you once you’re tended to!” he called over his shoulder.

“What are you talking about, my shoulder… actually kinda hurts, okay fine.”

One successful defeat of an opposing military later, and Roman had removed yet another advisor from his circle for creepy behavior.

“Hey Princey, I appreciate you defending my honor and shit, but that was the Lead Advisor of Trade,” Virgil began.

“And I’m better off without him!” Roman declared.

Virgil scratched his chin. “I mean yeah, but also you have a trade meeting with neighboring kingdoms coming up in a week, and two days after that you have an internal trade meeting with surrounding villages and the farmers within the city walls.”

Roman started stretching his arms and back in a way Virgil had identified meant he was stressed. “And there has been even more talk of my small harem, which does not bode well for external negotiations,” Roman murmured to himself.

Virgil shifted. “Yeah, that. Why don’t you just have your new advisors be part of your harem like me?”

Roman paused. “That’s… brilliant! Thank you Virgil!”

Virgil shrugged. “Yeah, no problem. It’s a pretty sweet gig. Although I don’t know why you haven’t-” he cut himself off with an awkward cough.

King Roman looked distinctly uncomfortable. “I’m afraid I’m not… particularly interested in those activities. I apologize if I’ve disappointed you.”

Virgil let out a breath. “I mean, I’m kinda relieved, not that you’re not hot! But I’d rather not break my two rules.”

Roman preened at the compliment. “What are your two rules?”

“Don’t shit where you eat and don’t fuck where you work.”

“Ah.”

“Look, there might be enough time to get someone else up to speed before the trade meetings. But you’ll have to choose someone quickly.”

Roman sat down in his throne and looked skyward in thought. “Are you familiar with Patton Hart? He’s already organized the internal farmers into their current union. What of him?”

Virgil remembered running into him right after a difficult mission and somehow ending up with a bag of tomatoes, a bag of bell peppers, and strict instructions to bathe and sleep. “Yeah, he’s a good guy.”

“How do you think he’d do as an advisor?”

Virgil didn’t have to think for long. “I think he’d be awesome. Want me to talk to him?”

“If you’d be so kind. And please assure him that his role would be strictly as an advisor.”

Virgil smirked. “You mean a shirtless advisor.”

Roman turned beet red, and Virgil cackled.

Before Virgil knew it, the harem quarters weren’t so lonely. Patton had agreed to join, very happy with the wardrobe and quickly making a name for himself. Patton had, in turn, recommended Logan Logos to replace the other creepy advisor. Logan had run a very successful pre-K Montessori program before joining the palace harem, and he fit in with the rest of the advising circle well, already creating reforms to account for diverse learning styles. In fact, Virgil had noticed that the advisors who weren’t part of the harem started taking him and Patton more seriously once the proper and strong Logan had joined them.

The day of the inter-kingdom trade meeting had come, and Logan and Virgil would both be attending along with Patton. Everyone was nervous about how the sweet and gentle Patton would do at such a fierce and antagonist event.

Virgil’s shoulder was out of the cast and sling, although it was still tender. He clapped a hand on Patton’s shoulder. “Go get ‘em,” he said, trying to be encouraging.

Patton flushed. “Thanks Vee.”

The meeting began, along with the customary hour-long political niceties, and finally it came time for the trade advisors to speak on their leaders’ behalf.

Virgil ground his teeth at the open snickering of Patton’s garb, and he could tell Logan and Roman were feeling the same way. Patton, however, seemed to be unaffected by it all. As expected, the Kingdom of Fiery Fields spoke first.

“King Roman, we propose a 5% increase of taxes for the crops we export to your kingdom, lest we cease all wheat exports to you.”

“You may call me Advisor Hart, and for what reason? We already pay you 12% more for your crops than other kingdoms.”

The platinum blonde man stared at Patton with haughty hazel eyes. “Because, Advisor Hart,” he sneered. “our crops are unmatched in quality!”

Patton nodded his head. “Fair point. I suppose you won’t mind a moratorium on all exports of our steel to your kingdom then?”

It was as if all the air was sucked out of the room.

Platinum Blonde was outraged. “You wouldn’t!”

“Actually, we would. You are now meeting with the new King’s new advisory circle, and we won’t stand for pointless tax increases that a review of the books show only go to pay the noblewomen you’re cheating on your wife with,” Patton stated, smiling sweetly the entire time.

Half of the trade advisors around the table laughed, while the other half gawked. Platinum Blonde backed down, and the trade meeting lasted for only 2 days instead of the typical 3 since Patton effectively shut down any ego-based bullshitting that occurred.

Virgil and Patton were taking turns trying to toss grapes into each others’ mouths, laughing, while Logan pretended to be irritated by their antics. The doors opened suddenly to show Orange, in his eye-burning all-orange ensemble.

“Hiya!” Patton chirped, hiding his own discomfort. They were all intensely disliked by Orange, who seemed to blame them for Roman not being interested in sex or romance.

Orange sniffed. “Advisor Logos, the noble King would like to extend his congratulations on the tax reform that redirected many of the fees of our noblepeople to educational supplies.”

Logan nodded at him. “Thank you. I’m quite proud of that myself and am very glad it came to fruition. Was their anything else you required, Advisor Wrath?”

“What?!” Virgil and Patton shouted at the same time. They whipped their heads over to Orange.

“No. Good day.” With that, Orange - or rather, Advisor Wrath - left their room.

Virgil and Patton turned back to Logan, who was seemingly reading again.

“Dude what the fuck-”

“How the heck did you know?!”

Logan just raised an eyebrow while continuing to read. “I have a way of finding things out,” he said, looking up for a second to smirk at them before going back to his book.

Virgil and Patton decided to not test Logan’s abilities.

I've been thinking a lot about Jenny's character and sexuality lately since I'm in the middle of rewatching the show. I totally agree that she's attracted to women and most times she pursues guys it's mainly to increase social status and not because of genuine interest. Nate always felt different to me, though. Like, the two times she really pursues him is in season 2, when she's being homeschooled and trying to make it as a designer, and the end of season 3, which is after the whole Damien drama and she's just looking for someone who cares about her and respects her (I know you said once that it doesn't even feel romantic here, which I also agree with, poor girl just needs a connection). I do really see how it can be interrupted as comphet, though. Like she feels like she's supposed to be attracted to Nate because who wouldn't be?

I think the reason why I lean the other way is probably just projection. Jenny's been my favourite GG character since I first watched the show when I was 12, partly because I relate a lot to her, and since I'm bisexual... Add that plus the fact that I totally have had a crush on Nate and of course I'm gonna ship them. I've been relating to Jenny even more this time around cause I dropped out of school this year, so her season 2 arc really hit close to me. So this made my jenate feelings come back tenfold and also made me that much madder at Rufus, lol. I just wanted to go through the screen and shake his shoulders like "There are other paths than the one you want your daughter to have, not everyone has to go through life like society expects you to let your daughter carve out her own unconventional path you fucking idiot!" Luckily my parents have been way more supportive.

Mainly I just see Jenny as bi with a strong lean towards women, but I like to think about lesbian Jenny, too. It wouldn't exactly be the first time I had contradicting headcanons.

I don't know I just think it's really cool that different people can have such different interpretations of the same character. I think that's what's so interesting about fiction, to see how we view things differently depending on how we view and relate to things based on our own experiences. Tumblr can be so focused on hating people who disagree with you, but I like following people with different opinions, it helps me understand people better.

Yeah, I'm glad you tagged me!! back in November, some anons were mean to me about shipping Jenate (me??? who literally does not even - anyway) and ever since then I've been trying extra to ensure that Jenate shippers feel welcome on my blog - you may already know this, because I've brought it up before, but I'm saying it here to let you know that every time you tag me in your Jenate edits I get so happy that you're sharing something you're so passionate about with me!! I'm also a big believer of like........ making the content you want to see (a big part of why I even learnt to gif is because nobody was giffing Dan & Nate, and I was like...... that's the content I need, so if it's not already existing, I'm gonna make it happen!) so regardless of my feelings it's always so cool to see the way you conceptualise JN + their feelings re: each other, and your choice of scenes + lyrics (??? I'm not actually familiar with where you got the words for your edits, they're likely songs I haven't heard, haha) is just so interesting & good!

OH my full Jenny & Nate feelings are a lot more complicated than just comphet on Jenny's part. I feel like..... neither of them was romantically/sexually into each other? and that is kind of the appeal to me? I've always interpreted Nate's interest in Jenny during the s2 arc as sort of like - everything in his life is so unstable and undetermined, and here is Jenny who is so clear on who she is and what she wants, and he admires and respects that, and he wants to be there for her and support her, so when she kisses him he just sort of lets her take their dynamic wherever she wants to? that is very much the vibe I got. You already know how I feel about lesbian Jenny, I mean, you quoted my meta right back at me :'))

but I DO agree with you that Nate is different from the other guys to Jenny. JN have this really specific kind of honesty to them - well, when Jenny wasn't spiralling and trying to get power and acting out, and when the writers actually cared? I still think that NJ had the potential to be a SOLID dynamic but the writers made it sorta unhealthy on the show :(( - but I've spoken abt moments like in seventeen candles and the empire strikes jack before, where they're both able to be emotionally vulnerable around each other in ways we don't see them be with anyone else. I've even compared that to what I like about Derena, whom everyone knows I ship in every possible way, haha. But there's something about characters who trust each other and allow themselves to be honest with each other in ways that they wouldn't otherwise EVER be - especially with characters like Jenny & Nate who have spent so long trying to seem fine and okay even when they're really not.

I honestly really like the idea of queerplatonic Jenate - they're life partners, they're each other's rock, they're each other's person - but it's not romantic OR sexual - and for Nate & Jenny, whose adolescence has involved navigating other people sexualising them so much + not having the best track record with romantic relationships - for them, I feel being qpps gets REALLY interesting, because you get all the perks of a relationship without the romantic/sexual obligations? (obligations isn't the best word, but i don't know what else to use here? LOL) and that's something i love to explore.

I feel like book Jenny was bi! The way she gushed about Nate, whom she canonically had a crush on, and the way she gushed about Serena were EXACTLY the same. Also YES I love multiple headcanons always, it's a lot of fun seeing people explore that!!! I know people who have aroace readings of Jenny, or aro lesbian / ace lesbian readings of her, and I find that really cool, too!

I also definitely get you about relating to Jenny a lot, and feeling that kind of connection. It's similar to how I feel about Dan, and .... explains a lot of my contradicting dair views, actually. A few years ago I had a seriously intense crush on a girl who was... a lot like Blair, in many ways. I spent a ridiculous amount of time writing poetry about her, etc etc, but I never actually acted on it. If she'd fabricated schemes that involved us kissing, though..... I don't know. I don't think I would've denied it if I'd felt like I actually had a chance. I think we just had a case of bad timing, & I like to think in another universe, maybe we were actually together for a bit. I'm glad that your parents are supportive of you and better than Rufus! <3

I think that's what's so interesting about fiction, to see how we view things differently depending on how we view and relate to things based on our own experiences <- THIS exactly! this is a big part of why that "proship" is in my bio. like this is exactly what it means to me and how I conceptualise & understand it!!! Like you, I also like engaging with people who have different understandings and opinions of the characters -> it definitely helps you make new friends you would otherwise not meet by staying in your bubble, & from a fandom point of view, it also helps you develop a more nuanced understanding of a character. Some of the best written Jenny Humphrey I've read was in Jenate fics - and I've had people who don't even ship Blenny tell me they liked the way I wrote Jenny in my post canon blennyfic, so... idk. it's loving Jenny hours - each and every single iteration of Jenny!!!

A/N: apparently the only fic I have motivation to write anymore is for the Mandalorian. anyway, have this INCREDIBLY self-indulgent fic with aroace din djarin, aro cara dune, and a heaping helping of hurt/comfort and mandalorian culture. enjoy! (title is from Constellations by The Oh Hellos)

Summary: Cara checks up on Din after the events on Moff Gideon's Imperial cruiser. Problem is, neither are them are very good at talking about emotions- but Cara figures out how to comfort Din in their own way.

Warnings: emotional hurt/comfort, awkward conversations, sort-of coming out, platonic cuddling, hugs, implied crying, bittersweet/hopeful ending

Din was distant after the jedi- Luke kriffing Skywalker- had taken Grogu and then their little haphazardly put together rescue crew got back on Fett’s ship. Not that Din was all that reachable of a person to begin with, Cara noted. But now he was even more withdrawn, and he seemed almost fragile despite all the armor he wore. Cara was sure she’d never forget watching the way Din’s hands trembled as he put his helmet back on- kriff, he had shown his face. Cara didn’t actually see his face, just the back of a surprisingly curly head of hair (out of everything, she never pictured her stoic friend with curly hair). So on top of losing his kid and unwittingly earning the right to Mandalore’s throne, he had broken his code as well. Surely he was not as put together as his gruff, standoffish behavior implied.

Hence why Cara was more or less lurking in the shadows near where Din was sulking in the storage unit aboard the Slave I. Fett had advised to “let him alone, Marshal,” in that rough and indifferent-but-really-he-was-fooling-nobody tone of his. But Cara felt that the last thing that Din needed was more space from people he cared about, so she stepped out of the shadows and closer to where Din was sitting on top of a storage container. At first glance, she thought he was cleaning his weapons, but as she came closer she noticed he was fiddling with a small silver ball- the same one that Grogu had been so attached to. Then, strangely enough, he pressed the ball to his helmet, just above its visor and where his forehead would be beneath it. Cara suddenly felt like she was intruding, and from the way Din jolted and scrambled to put the ball in a pouch at his side, she definitely felt like an intruder.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-” she started, but was cut off with a wave of Din’s hand.

“It’s fine. I’m- I’m glad it was you,” Din replied, sounding uncharacteristically shy. Cara smiled softly, walking closer and taking a seat next to him on the storage container.

“I just wanted to check in on you, after… everything,” Cara finished lamely. Din huffed out a breath that could have been a laugh, a sigh, a sob, or some mix of the three.

“Thank you. I- I’m- he’ll be safe. With the jedi,” Din said, sounding like he was more trying to convince himself than Cara. A chuckle escaped Cara’s lips, despite everything.

“Trust me, there is nowhere safer than with Luke Skywalker for Grogu. I never knew him personally, but the guy’s a rebel hero. It was his shot that destroyed the first Death Star, and he had a hand in overthrowing the Emperor and destroying the second Death Star. Plus I think his sister has a seat in the New Republic Senate now. The point is that he’s powerful, and that he has powerful allies. Grogu will be okay,” Cara assured him. Din let out another breath, and this time it was definitely a sigh.

“Thank you. That… that helps,” Din replied, sounding much more at ease than when Cara had first checked in on him.

“I’m glad,” Cara said, affectionately clapping him on his knee- and startled a bit when Din jumped at the touch.

“Sorry-”

“Don’t be, I guess I forgot that Mandalorians aren’t exactly touchy-feely people,” she interrupted him, giving him a soothing smile.

“And I am certainly no exception,” Din muttered under his breath, but as Cara was sitting so close to him, she heard it anyhow.

“What do you mean?�� Cara asked, brow furrowed in confusion. Din swallowed nervously and seemed to shrink in on himself a bit, which would have been comical if every fiber of his being didn’t seem to be etched with embarrassment.

“I’ve… never really desired any sort of closeness. As teenagers, my fellow foundlings seemed to be interested in finding someone to be close with, but those sorts of desires never really occurred to me,” Din explained awkwardly.

“What sort of desires?” Cara asked with a raised eyebrow, somewhat understanding what he was getting at, but she wanted to be absolutely sure. Din fidgeted for a moment or two before making an irritated sound.

“I’ve never wanted any sort of intimacy or romance. Not even with Omera. Sure, the idea of having someone to come home to and start a family with sounds nice, but…” Din trailed off, sounding just as lost as when he had taken off his helmet to say goodbye to Grogu.

“But in reality it feels wrong,” Cara finished, understanding where he was coming from, at least a little bit. Sure, there were… ahem, other desires that were appealing to her, but romance? Definitely not her thing. Din’s head shot up at Cara’s words, struggling to form words of his own for a moment or two.

“You- yeah, that’s it,” he said, dumbfounded.

“I get how you feel- at least on the romance part. Although, uh, intimacy, as you put it... that I’m more down with. And I’m definitely more of a casually affectionate person than you,” Cara replied, cringing internally at her choice of words. This wasn’t something she really talked about a lot, and it felt like everything was coming out all jagged and lopsided. But fortunately, Din seemed just as out of his comfort zone as she was, and therefore didn’t mind.

“I mean, I don’t mind affection. It just surprises me, is all,” Din said sheepishly. Cara slowly reached out, gently grasping Din’s hand when he didn’t move to stop her. She gently rubbed her thumb in soothing circles on the back of Din’s hand, and he all but melted at the touch. Kriff, if this is how he reacted to some hand-holding, he’d probably implode if she ever tried to hug him.

“When’s the last time you’ve gotten a hug?” Cara blurted, startling Din out of his calm reverie.

“I… I mean, I would hug Grogu sometimes, but his arms are a little small to really hug back. He could always return a kov'nyn just fine though,” Din said fondly.

“Cove-what?” Cara asked, head tilted to the side in confusion.

“Kov’nyn. Sometimes it’s called a keldabe kiss. I had learned it from my Buir- the Mandalorian who found me and took me in. It can be a violent action, but I’ve mostly known it as an affectionate one. It… might be easier to show than to explain,” Din replied, seeming nervous again.

“Then go ahead and show me. If you want,” she said, hurriedly assuring him that she didn’t want to force him into anything he wasn’t comfortable with. Din took a deep breath, then reached out with his free hand and rested it on the nape of her neck, fingers gently tangling in her hair. He carefully pulled her forward until her forehead was resting against his. The moment her skin touched the cool beskar of his helmet, it felt like something had snapped into place- and dimly she realized this had been the same thing Din had done with Grogu’s silver ball.

“This is a keldabe kiss. It’s a form of greeting between Mandalorians and their loved ones,” Din said, shifting as if he was going to move away, but Cara grabbed his forearm with her free hand and halted his movements. Din let out a soft, almost broken sound, and Cara moved on pure instinct. She shifted closer and threw both arms around Din’s shoulders, now practically in his lap and forehead still learning against his helmet. Din responded in kind, one hand still firmly buried in the hair at the base of her neck, while his other arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her entirely in his lap. He let out a shaky sigh that could have been a shallow sob, but Cara didn’t comment on it. If Din needed to be held as he cried, Cara was more than willing to do so for him.

The Marshal and the newfound Mand’alor had been absent from the cockpit for far too long, in Fett’s opinion. So he entrusted the controls to Fennec, and made his way to the storage unit that the Mand’alor had been hiding away in. The sight that greeted him, however, was one that he never would have predicted. The Mand’alor, looking incredibly vulnerable for a man in pure beskar armor, had the Marshal in his lap, holding her close as he leaned his helmet against her forehead in a keldabe kiss. Fett smiled in spite of himself. Whatever happened, whether Princess ended up with the Darksaber or not, Fett was glad that the current Mand’alor had someone he could rely on.

post-fic notes: this whole fic was an excuse to write aroace din, keldabe kisses, and platonic cuddling between a man and a woman. the aro cara just sorta snuck up on me, as well as boba fett being a caring and concerned pal. oh also i personally hc fett as being the type of person to not call people by their first name unless he has a strong bond with them (you can read his relationship with fennec here however you'd like, although i like them as just buddies). i also hc his reaction to din getting the darksaber as "oh you're the king now, cool"
