I HAD A FAST FOOD AU TWO YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS WORKING AT CANES AND IM BRINGING IT BACK. I had to slog through Canes for two years . So Makoto does too.

Makoto is a hard worker, he's just clumsy, which causes him to get scolded by manager Byakuya a lot. He's also extra clumsy when manager Kyoko Kirigiri is on shift, which sucks because he just wants to impress her. Just his luck right??

Maki is literally the most capable motherfucker in the ENTIRE CANES STORE. She does the heavy lifting and she's always on bird(the person who puts the chicken in the fryers / takes it out etc if you've never worked at canes), she does the filter pans, she does it all. She's usually always in kitchen just because her... customer service face is less than stellar. She keeps trying to get two of her friends to come work there because she's. Quite tired of working with Nagito and Hajime, to be honest, but her friends just won't come over. Ugh.

Nagito Komaeda is not allowed on anything but dishes unless the situation is dire. He can do sauce on game days ONLY. And if you HAVE to put him in drive ONLY PUT HIM ON DRINKS. NOTHING ELSE. AND IF HAJIME IS THERE DO NOT PUT HIM THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. They have gotten in fistfights on multiple occasions and... an employee(Maki) found them making out in the freezer during the 2 am rush, therefore the two of them are not allowed near eachother until further notice. Nagito is also not allowed on any position near the fryers, due to another altercation with Hajime that caused him to have his arm completely submerged in the fryer up to his elbow. He is on dishes only until we can figure out what to do with him.

Hajime Hinata is an interesting case because he's relatively good anywhere, he just isn't allowed to be near Nagito, which mostly lands him on boards(people putting the stuff in boxes) or in drive. He is diligent and takes his job seriously! ...unfortunately, he is easily distracted by our least favorite coworker.

I'm gonna do the Mcdonald's crew next, where we'll see some more familiar faces :D hope you enjoy the au so far!!

Hair dyed in different color: FUCK YEAH! I was getting really bored of my natural hair color but was keeping it natural for the purpose of looking professional (job searches). I’d been wanting to reinstate some purple and black again, but with my current job only allowing “natural” hair colors, I decided I couldn’t go that route. Instead I bleached the front and dyed the rest dark brown in a sort of inspiration from Takashi Shirogane. 53. Sport: I played soccer all growing up, so much fun. Love jogging. Sports are great, miss having the opportunity to do team stuff. Also really enjoy watching professional gymnastics, soccer, American football, and especially tennis. 55. But my answer for this is relationship; hookups are only fun for short-term boosts of self-confidence and not being 100% genuine and just being like carefree “whatever” for a night (make sure you both know you’re just doing the hookup night though, please guys, no deception!). Long-term relationships though are glorious like none other for their emotional power. <3 That is pure beauty, caring for someone deeply with lasting loyalty. But of course ya’ll know me... Saint John, New Brunswick to Weymouth, Nova Scotia

We woke up in our dark blue room with purple bedding and pink chairs, and slowly got ourselves out of the deep blankets and soft pillows for breakfast. We joined an old couple at the breakfast table downstairs and ate a French toast bake with Apple pork sausages and toast with homemade jam. They're visiting they're grandbabies, and we are far from home. After they left Carl and Jim chatted with us for a bit. Jim looks like he might be in his 70s and Carl is a bit younger. Carl is a massage therapist, retired RN, who worked at a Catholic hospital and massages the aging nuns of the Saint John convent. His voice is sort of high, soft and accented, and comes from somewhere deep in his sinuses. He told us a story about one of the nuns in her 80s saying she had to confess to the priest after her first massage, and Carl asked if he did anything inappropriate or anything that made her uncomfortable, and she said oh no but if a man had touched me like that fifty years ago I wouldn't have joined the convent. HA!

We got a map of Nova Scotia and they suggested a b&b they like over here, and we got our things ready to go. It started raining though, so we left our room and sat downstairs for a while where I worked and Jesse read. Around noon an older couple from Torino, Italy arrived to take over our room and we decided it was time to go.

First stop, Walmart for ratchet straps for the ferry and two new bungee cords, mouthwash, razors. Then we got sandwiches at Tim's and headed to the ferry dock while fog rolled in. We got directed to the front of the line on a bike, and Jesse parked with the rows of half a dozen other bikes. This was day 1 of their new ferry boat and there were kinks to work out. Without a new gangway for walking, all the passengers without a vehicle (including me as a bike passenger) had to take a shuttle bus from the terminal parking lot down the bridge into to the ferry's bottom deck, then stairs up. But even that was delayed over an hour because they couldn't get the doors open on the new boat to let out the stream of cars stuck on board from Digby.

We watched the boat, we watched the ocean, we watched people, and then we found a picnic table and I worked a bit, we watched a helicopter land through the thick fog to drop two people in a grassy field next to the terminal, we watched black smoke pour out of the ship's stacks and wondered what the hell was going on. Finally we got on the boat, and I found myself a table to sit at and later Jesse found me. We played golf and gin and Jesse got a little bag of sunchips, a Keith's beer and a canned Caesar. He's delighted to be back at home. I think he's more happy than he's letting on, after the months in my country where his dollar is worth 80 cents, where things are a little more unfamiliar and a little less friendly. But it's okay, I'm glad to be here too.

This is more new ground for me, and it is more relaxed, and uncrowded. One of the other biker ladies on the ferry told me that the Maritimes are God's favorite place, they're so incredible. She had her greasy blonde hair braided too, and less gear on than me, and I could see her pale soft stomach through a gaping button hole on her shirt, but she was friendly. They camp a lot too. She rides on the back, they meet people, they spend a lot of time on the road. She told me about finding a little beach at dead end roads called Pinks Cove where they camped when they couldn't find anything else. They spent a little extra on a NICE tent that's extra water proof and you can stand inside. Maybe if ours was bigger we wouldn't get hotels so much. I don't know.

I think it would be easier if I was on my own bike and we had more space for luggage and things. A cooler for snacks. Waterproof bags and boxes for our extra items instead of silver or black garbage bags that shred themselves in the wind after too many miles of flapping. For now, though, it all works.

More and more people are shocked at the trip we've done so far, and even though we don't look like real bikers 20+ years older in leather and denim, there's a little air of approval in their bearded smirks. "No kidding!" "Good for you two!"

And that's the thing about bikers, I think. Even though they are tough and hardy people who can stand discomfort and danger, many of them are kind, expressive, extremely experienced in traveling light and traveling well, at meeting people and sparking connections when you've got a motorcycle in common. They've seen the most beautiful parts of the world, and they've done it slowly. They've been out in it. They've lived differently, and I'm learning, maybe better, despite the stereotypes and stigma of reckless riders and hells angels.

The ferry ride was almost three hours, but it was shaky, so I couldn't draw on my turbulent table. Jesse's gravol/Dramamine knocked him out so I sat alone and read, researched, texted Rachel and Bryn. I could see out the windows, but just barely. The fog was thick and it was just flags being battered by the ocean wind. Canada flag, Nova Scotia flag, New Brunswick flag, and thick white fog.

Then, we docked, I rode the shuttle bus back up, and we rode into Digby, Nova Scotia for dinner on the water. Just pub food, but a nice deck as the sun came out. We took pictures of the harbor and walked around a bit before hopping back on the bike for Weymouth and an inn that looked like a grandma's house.

On the way, the evening light was incredible. After so much rain and fog, the day ended in sunlight. We raced through villages, fields, forest, cedar houses with beautiful porches and flowers, to a section of beach with dr seuss trees, long white curving trunks and bursts of leaves as the branches forked upward. We walked out to the water, and then over to a point facing west with tall grasses and purple flowers between us and the view. A little fog on the horizon, the sky like honey, we took pictures and tried to capture the feeling of it all, and then got back on to make it to our inn before 9.

A grandma greeted us at the back door. Our room was open with a key by the sink. The house smelled like tootsie rolls and had needlepoint art and cats everywhere. It was a little odd in the night, like it was a hundred and fifty year old house that got redecorated for the last time in the early 90s and hadn't changed since. The third floor was blocked off but a row of quilts lead up the stairs. Our room was just past that, small, but comfortable. We read in bed and fell asleep fast with the noise of a fan and a quiet house.
