White people in this community, you need to start listening to POC selfshippers more. It's very telling when you try to make positivity posts that were made for us about yourself in the tags or comments, when it's not about you. Please remember that so many things in this world are accommodating specifically towards white people and not us as POC, we are often not included or accounted for or even considered in many situations. While this may sound silly in the context of selfshipping, for many of us this is also done for fun, as an escape, or even as a coping mechanism just as much as some of you guys may consider it to be as well. And it hurts when something made to make us feel included is once again overstepped on by white people, just like we deal with so often in our real lives. Please try to consider that this space also is for us POC, and think really hard if you may be overstepping and be mindful of what you say. So many of you make excuses for your ignorant actions and need to learn accountability instead.

I've been reading a lot of science fiction and fantasy stories lately, by a lot of different authors, and I've noticed an interesting trend. Not something that happens all the time by any means, but something that's more likely to happen in one over the other.

Magic fixes problems while science causes problems.

And it makes sense that it would be that way, because magic is something that we don't really have, and we can only imagine what we would do with it if we did. Magic is just altering reality in ways that logically shouldn't happen, given our current understanding of physics. If we could change reality with a snap of our fingers, oh man we would do so much good with it.

But science. We've seen what science can do. And before it can achieve the lofty goals that it sets out to do, it goes through any number of failures and setbacks. We've seen the mistakes. We've suffered through them. Then in fiction, we extrapolate what could happen with advancements that we haven't quite reached yet.

With science fiction, we tell cautionary tales of a that future could be. With fantasy, we tell fairy tales of a past that never was.

Not every time. But often enough to notice.

i havent seen anyone talk about it yet so i have to ask. How Exactly did argenti apparently save aventurine?

argenti has no nihility powers or anything so he wouldn't have been able to find aven, let alone rescue him. aven's body in reality was probably just lying in his dreampool this whole time - argenti wouldn't have seen him to be able to know he needed saving.

aven had to have escaped nihility already for argenti to be able to see him in the dreamscape. the exact wording from aven's text is that he "narrowly escaped death" because of argenti, which doesn't look right because if he'd made it back to the dreamscape already the ds would wake him up before he died, no argenti needed. i don't see any way argenti was important enough to aven's survival for even jade to comment on him.

As I’ve said on Twitter: I won’t lie, I’ve been putting off this design for a while because a zebra is a very complicated design animal-wise with its patterning- so I wasn’t sure how to represent this flag in the best way I can. Any feedback is welcome! I plan on turning some of the pride animals into stickers and buttons to sell IRL in conventions, and I’d really like to include this one :-)

a little more serious than my normal posts but i was wondering if there are any like goldfish experts who could help me

i noticed that one of my fish has these weird little red lumps on its pectoral fins and i’m scared that it’s something serious

i have 2 fish and i’ve had them for 4 years and i’ve kept them in healthy condition and i don’t really know if this is something i should be worried about or not
