Amber Steakhouse
Amber Steakhouse overall score: 83 I had heard good things about this place from a few different people recently, so I had to go give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised! things that were happening in this dream (absolutely not lucid at all)
John Crichton was there (absolutely because Ben Browder was in an episode of Chuck)
I was making a bunch of giant hams and also hot dogs for a holiday because me and possibly my mom(??) ran a super popular restaraunt that specialized in ham steaks and hot dogs. and by giant hams I mean like, person sized giant hams. They took up the whole counter and I had to use a cartoonishly oversized butcher's knife. Probably because we were watching a mini documentary about wagyu beef and that sorta looks like weird ham....???
John Crichton was in a little row boat on a giant lake and then some guy in a submarine tried to kidnap him and...either he fainted, or faked fainting, and fell off the bot, but then hit the submerged top of the submarine and got knocked out anyways
someone was talking about Star Wars and getting into some kind of argument about it
at some point I don't remember there was something that made me realize I'm an aroace lesbian??? I have literally no clue.
I had to try and kill a Nazi with a handful of pebbles. Pretty sure it didn't work and he teleported away because dreams don't follow logic.
had to hide behind a cage in a jungle to avoid being caught by Nazis who were marching past singing a Disney-style song about how they were going to kill everyone >.>

How to Identify Authentic Wagyu Steak: Tips for Buyers
Wagyu beef, renowned for its exceptional quality and luxurious taste, is a coveted delicacy among meat enthusiasts. However, the increasing popularity of Wagyu has also led to a rise in counterfeit products. To ensure you are getting the genuine article, it is crucial to identify authentic Wagyu steak. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore essential tips for buyers, ensuring you can confidently buy Wagyu steak and find the best Wagyu beef in Dubai.
Understanding Wagyu
Wagyu, meaning "Japanese cow," refers to four specific breeds of cattle: Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Shorthorn, and Japanese Polled. These breeds are renowned for their superior marbling, contributing to Wagyu's unique tenderness, flavour, and juiciness. The intricate fat marbling enhances the taste and distinguishes Wagyu from other types of beef.
Check the Source and Certification
When you decide to buy Wagyu steak, the first step is to verify the source. Authentic Wagyu beef comes from Japan, although high-quality Wagyu is also produced in countries such as Australia and the United States. However, Japanese Wagyu remains the gold standard. Look for certifications such as the Japanese Meat Grading Association (JMGA) seal, which guarantees the beef's authenticity and quality.
Understand the Grading System
Wagyu beef is evaluated based on its marbling, colour, texture, and fat quality. The Japanese grading system ranges from C1 to A5, with A5 being the highest grade. The letter represents the yield grade, while the number indicates the quality grade. A5 Wagyu boasts the finest marbling, texture, and flavour. Familiarising yourself with this grading system helps you make an informed decision when you buy Wagyu steak.
Examine the Marbling
One of the hallmarks of authentic Wagyu beef is its marbling, which refers to the intramuscular fat interspersed within the meat. When you buy Wagyu steak, look for fine, evenly distributed marbling that appears like a delicate web of fat. This marbling is responsible for the beef's melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich flavour. The more extensive and intricate the marbling, the higher the quality of the Wagyu beef.
Inspect the Colour and Texture
Authentic Wagyu beef typically has a vibrant, cherry-red color with creamy white fat. The texture should be firm yet tender. When you buy Wagyu steak, ensure that the meat has a consistent colour and that the fat is evenly distributed. Avoid beef with a dull colour or an overly greasy appearance, as these indicate lower quality or counterfeit products.
Evaluate the Price and Availability
It is essential to recognize that authentic Wagyu beef is more expensive due to its exceptional quality and the meticulous care required. If you come across Wagyu steak at a meager price, be cautious, as it might be a counterfeit product. Additionally, consider the availability of beef. Genuine Wagyu is rare, so if it seems too easy to find, especially at a low price, it might not be authentic.
Buy from Reputable Sellers
When searching for the best Wagyu beef in Dubai, it is crucial to purchase from reputable sellers. Look for established butchers, gourmet stores, or high-end restaurants known for their quality products. Reputable sellers are more likely to provide detailed information about the beef's origin, breed, and grading. They can also offer insights into preparing and cooking your Wagyu steak to maximise its flavour and tenderness.
Ask for Documentation
Authentic Wagyu beef often comes with documentation that verifies its origin and grading. When you buy Wagyu steak, ask the seller for any available certifications or documentation. This might include information about the cattle's lineage, the farm where it was raised, and the grading assigned by the JMGA or other relevant authorities. Reputable sellers should have no problem providing this information to ensure you receive the best Wagyu beef.
Educate Yourself About Breeds
Different breeds of Wagyu cattle offer varying levels of quality and flavour profiles. Japanese Black (Kuroge Washu) is the most common breed known for its exceptional marbling. Japanese Brown (Akage Washu), Japanese Shorthorn (Nihon Tankaku Washu), and Japanese Polled (Mukaku Washu) each have unique characteristics. Understanding these breeds can help you make a more informed decision when you buy Wagyu steak, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your taste preferences.
Taste Test for Authenticity
If possible, perform a taste test. Authentic Wagyu beef should have a rich, buttery flavour and a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The fat should impart a sweet, umami taste, and the meat should be incredibly tender. When you buy Wagyu steak, consider purchasing a small amount initially to sample its flavour and texture. You can verify its authenticity before committing to a more significant purchase.
Beware of Common Misconceptions
Several things that need to be clarified about beef can lead to clarity when you buy Wagyu steak. One common myth is that all Wagyu beef is Kobe beef. While Kobe is a variety of Wagyu, it originates from a specific region in Japan and follows strict quality standards. Not all Wagyu is Kobe, and not all Kobe beef is available outside Japan. Understanding these distinctions can help you avoid misleading marketing claims and get the best Wagyu beef in Dubai.
Sustainability and Ethical Considerations
When you buy Wagyu steak, it is essential to consider sustainability and ethical practices. Authentic Wagyu production involves meticulous care and humane treatment of cattle. Look for suppliers committed to sustainable farming practices, ensuring the beef you purchase is of the highest quality and ethically sourced. Supporting responsible producers helps maintain the integrity of Wagyu beef and promotes animal welfare.
Exploring the Best Wagyu Beef in Dubai
Dubai, renowned for its luxury and culinary excellence, provides numerous options for those searching for the finest Wagyu beef. Here are some tips for locating top-quality Wagyu in Dubai:
High-end restaurants: Many upscale restaurants in Dubai feature Wagyu beef. These establishments often source their meat from reputable suppliers, ensuring you get a genuine product.
Gourmet markets: Specialty food and gourmet stores in Dubai are excellent places to buy Wagyu steak. These markets typically provide detailed information about the beef's origin and grading.
Butchers: Seek out butchers known for their quality meats. Reputable butchers can offer guidance on selecting the best Wagyu beef and may even provide cooking tips to enhance your dining experience.
The Future of Wagyu Beef
The demand for Wagyu beef continues to grow, and with it, the importance of maintaining authenticity and quality. Advances in breeding, farming practices, and international trade regulations aim to ensure consumers can confidently buy Wagyu steak. As more people become educated about Wagyu, the industry will see even greater emphasis on transparency, sustainability, and ethical practices.
Conclusion
Identifying authentic Wagyu steak requires knowledge and attention to detail, but the effort is well worth it. By understanding the source, grading system, marbling, and other vital factors, you can confidently buy Wagyu steak and enjoy the unparalleled taste and texture that define this exceptional beef. Whether dining at one of Dubai's finest restaurants or purchasing from a trusted butcher, these tips will help you find the best Wagyu beef in Dubai. Embrace the experience and savour the luxurious delight of authentic Wagyu, knowing that you have made an informed and discerning choice.

Since most steakhouses in South Beach seem to be chains, we went with Prime 112 based on a totality of recs we got from friends. The other contender was Papi Steak (next time). An Introduction to Culinary Opulence: Before delving into sourcing Wagyu beef, understanding its origins and unique qualities is paramount. Wagyu, a breed of Japanese cattle, is celebrated for its genetic predisposition to intense marbling, resulting in tender, flavorful meat. The four primary Japanese Wagyu breeds—Japanese Black, Japanese Brown, Japanese Shorthorn, and Japanese Polled—symbolize a legacy of meticulous breeding, creating beef that is unparalleled in taste and tenderness.
Tumblr media
Deciphering the Grades and Certification: When sourcing Wagyu beef, comprehending the grading system and certifications is vital. Japan's grading scale, from the Japanese Meat Grading Association, assesses beef based on marbling, meat color, fat color, and overall yield. Grades like A5, the highest rating, signify exceptional marbling and tenderness. Additionally, certifications from reputable breeders or associations assure authenticity and quality, providing confidence in the beef's provenance.
From Origin to Provenance: Authentic Wagyu beef often boasts a traceable lineage, reflecting its journey from farm to table. Seeking beef with a documented origin ensures transparency regarding the cattle's breeding, feeding regimen, and handling practices. Certificates of authenticity or traceability labels establish credibility, affirming the beef's authenticity and adherence to strict production standards.
Building Relationships with Reputable Suppliers: Establishing connections with trusted suppliers or specialty butchers significantly influences the quality of Wagyu beef obtained. Reputable suppliers prioritize transparency, offering insights into sourcing, handling, and the beef's journey from farm to market. Whether it's through direct relationships with breeders or reliable distributors, these connections often lead to procuring the finest Wagyu beef.

The intricate webbing of fat contributes to its tenderness, juiciness, and unparalleled flavor. Visual cues such as abundant, fine marbling with a creamy appearance indicate superior quality. Opting for beef with higher marbling ensures an indulgent dining experience.
Examining Feeding Regimens and Handling Practices: The diet and care afforded to Wagyu cattle significantly impact the beef's quality. Wagyu cattle are often raised with specialized feeding programs that incorporate high-energy grains and specific feed ratios, contributing to the development of exquisite marbling. Additionally, attentive handling practices and stress-free environments play a crucial role in maintaining the meat's tenderness and flavor.
Accessing Quality Beyond Borders: While Japan remains the epicenter of Wagyu beef production, exceptional Wagyu beef can be sourced globally. Countries such as the United States, Australia, and various regions in Europe have developed their Wagyu breeding programs, producing beef of exceptional quality. How Long To Cook Tri Tip On Traeger At 350
Are you ready to cook the perfect tri tip on your Traeger grill but don't know how long it should take? Look no further! Cooking a delicious tri tip at 350 degrees on your Traeger is easier than you might think. This versatile cut of beef can be grilled or smoked, giving you endless options for flavor and texture. In this post, we'll go over everything you need to know about cooking tri tip on your Traeger at 350 degrees, including the different types of cuts, cooking times, temperatures, and techniques. So fire up your grill and get ready to impress with a mouth-watering tri tip that will have everyone asking for seconds!
What is Tri Tip?
Tri tip is a flavorful and popular cut of beef that comes from the bottom sirloin. It's known for its tenderness, juiciness, and versatility in cooking methods. Tri tip got its name because it has three distinct muscles on one end, which gives it a unique triangular shape. This cut of beef originated in Santa Maria, California, where it became a staple dish at BBQs and cookouts. But now tri tip can be found all over the country at restaurants and grocery stores alike. Unlike other cuts of beef like ribeye or filet mignon that can be expensive, tri tip is an affordable option that still delivers delicious flavor when cooked properly. Whether you grill it to perfection or smoke it low and slow for hours, tri tip will surely satisfy your taste buds with each bite.
The Different Types of Tri Tip
When it comes to tri tip, there are actually a few different types of cuts you can choose from. The most common is the bottom sirloin tri tip, which is widely available at most grocery stores and butcher shops. This cut tends to be leaner than other beef cuts, but still packs plenty of flavor. Another option is the top sirloin tri tip, which has a slightly different texture and tenderness compared to the bottom sirloin version. It's also a bit more expensive due to its higher quality. For those who want something truly unique and flavorful, there's also the Wagyu tri tip. This type of beef comes from Japanese cattle that have been bred for their marbling and flavor profile. It's definitely on the pricier side, but many people swear by its melt-in-your-mouth texture. No matter which type of tri tip you choose, make sure to look for one with plenty of marbling throughout for maximum flavor. And don't forget about seasoning – whether you opt for a classic rub or something more experimental like coffee or cocoa powder, adding some extra herbs and spices will take your tri tip to the next level!
How Long To Cook Tri Tip On Traeger At 350
Cooking tri-tip on a Traeger grill is an excellent way to get that perfect smoky flavor and juicy texture. When grilling or smoking tri-tip, one of the common questions asked by beginners is how long it takes to cook. The answer depends on various factors such as the thickness of the meat, cooking temperature, and personal preferences. However, generally speaking, cooking a 2-3 pound tri-tip at 350°F should take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. It's essential to keep in mind that every cut of meat will be different; therefore, relying solely on time can result in overcooking or undercooking your tri-tip. The best way to ensure you get perfectly cooked meat is by using a thermometer. How to Grill Tri Tip On Traeger
Grilling tri tip on a Traeger grill is a great way to achieve those beautiful grill marks and add some extra flavor. To get started, preheat your Traeger grill to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. When grilling tri tip, it's important to remember that this cut of meat does not require high heat for a long period of time like other cuts such as ribs or brisket. Instead, you want to sear the outside quickly over high heat before reducing the temperature and allowing it to cook slowly. Place the tri tip directly onto the hot grates and let it sizzle for about 4-5 minutes per side until you achieve those desirable grill marks. Once both sides are seared nicely, move the meat over indirect heat and reduce the temperature on your Traeger. Continue cooking until an internal thermometer reads about 135 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare doneness or adjust accordingly if you prefer it cooked more or less than that. The beauty of using a Traeger for grilling is how easy it is to control temperatures with precision using its digital controller system. This allows you to focus on creating delicious flavors without having to worry too much about fluctuations in temperature. Once finished cooking, remove from the grill and let rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin pieces ready for serving!
How to Smoke Tri Tip On Traeger
Smoking tri tip on Traeger is a great way to infuse a smoky flavor into the meat. To begin, prepare your Traeger grill by filling it with wood pellets and setting the temperature to 225°F. Next, season your tri tip with your preferred rub or marinade. Allow the meat to sit at room temperature for half an hour before placing it on the grill. Once your Traeger has reached its desired temperature, place the seasoned tri tip onto the grill grates and let it smoke for about 3 hours. The key here is low and slow cooking. To ensure that you maintain consistent heat throughout smoking process, avoid opening up the lid too frequently as this can cause fluctuations in heat distribution. After about three hours of smoking, check if internal temperature has reached between 135°F -145°F as this indicates that it's ready for consumption. When done allow some time for resting before slicing against grain thinly. This will help retain moisture so that you enjoy juicy slices of smoked Tri Tip!
