Always an experience watching the leftism leave FNAF fans when someone mentions that Scott Cawthon financially backed fascist politicians.
The switch from posting hardline leftist tweets about boycotts and signal boosts and critical takedowns of politicians and celebrities to ‘ohhh, well. everyone makes mistakes. who can blame him, listen he. he donated money to gay charities too. that makes it ok! a millionaire in his forties is allowed to have political beliefs. does it even matter? just let it go!’ is whiplash inducing. The antivaxxer celebrities have got to go, but this one horror dev who quietly handed wads of cash to antivax lawmakers? He’s chill, he can stay.
The charity thing is so funny too because suddenly utilitarian positive-negative point counting is the way to go. Maybe an abacus would help calculate the net good of donating to the Trevor Project minus donating thousands of dollars to Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. -10 points if I push a kid in a lake but +11 points if I help an old lady across the street, so I’m chill. You can’t judge me. Hey, maybe. Just don’t push a kid in the lake period. How fucking low is the bar when we’re excusing maxing out the possible dollar amount of donations to Mitch fucking McConnell. That should be like. Default you’re a bad person.

The campaign of just calling trump supporters 'weird' is actually one of the best things I've seen happen politically in a while

Kamala Harris will not save us
We are descending into a fascist police state, regardless of who wins, it is simply a matter of speed. Pushing the idea that we should “vote blue no matter who” (which, come on, clearly ignores valid issues people have with democratic candidates, like blind allegiance is never good) is dangerous. Voting is simply damage control, which is important, but will not stop what is going to happen. I don’t mean this in a doomerist way, because things will get better, but first they need to get worse.
Harris is still a genocidal white supremacist and just like Biden. After this election, if she wins, we won’t “go back to normal” because we can no longer go back, we can only go forward (besides, back wasn’t really as good as people think it is, just ask the global south). And that is fine. But holding onto the idea that democrats are good and will save us is foolish and dangerous.
The (majority) people who won’t vote for Harris aren’t gonna do it because they think politics doesn’t effect them or they are neutral, they won’t vote for her because she, while being the lesser evil between the two, is still evil, and will still uphold the systems that are driving us into the ground with the rest of the world. So please think a bit more critically and understand that while voting for her may slow down our spiral (or at least not fasten it like trump) we still heading for the same place, and need to prepare as such
Stay safe, build community, fight fascism.

as a non american watching the most influential country having to whine about picking the lesser evil when some countries have to pick between 5 political parties ranging from fascist upfront, fascist adjacent, literal criminals, to somewhat good and having all of your votes unequally divided amongst all of those is fucking ridiculous

How to call your representatives in 10 minutes or less
1: Pick a bill you want to call about. If you don't have one off the top of your head, go to your state's legislature website or congress.gov and type in a keyword about a topic you're interested in, and pick one that looks of note to you.
2: Check if the bill is in the house or senate (HB means house bill unless it's already passed and is now in the senate, vice versa for SB)
3: Figure out who's your representative(s) in that chamber. State sites will have a "who's my representative" field somewhere, and you can find your federal reps here. Put their contacts into your phone so you don't have to do this step again
4a: If you want to, you can stop here and go ahead and call your representative. You can come up with an elaborate script if you want, but my conversations often go like this if I have not checked whether or not my rep is on the subcommittee where the bill's probably sitting at. It rarely goes over 2.5 minutes
Staffer: Hello, this is the office of [lawmaker]. Me: Hi, I'm calling as a constituent of [lawmaker] about [house/senate bill, bill number, bill name]. I wanted to express my [support/lack of support] for it, and was hoping you could pass along the message to [lawmaker] that as [his/her] constituent I would like [her/him] to vote [in favor/against] [bill name]. Staffer: Thank you so much for calling and voicing your opinion. I will let you know that the bill is currently [insert information about what subcommittee it's stuck in], but when it comes down for a floor vote, I'll be sure your voice is heard in the discussion. Can I get your name, and a phone number or email address? Me: My name is [name], my phone number is [number I called them from] Them: Alright, well thank you again for calling in today, and I'll be sure to pass this along Me: Thank you so much. Have a good day Staffer: You too, bu-bye *hangs up*
note: they are legally obligated to tally a yea/nae count of constituents calling/writing in and have to share it with reps
4b: If you want to call about bills that your representative currently has some direct sway over, check what subcommittees they're a part of. If you type their name in to this site and scroll down, you can find a list.
5: On the bill, there will be a line (or tab) that says activity, and says where it was most recently referred to, and see if one of your rep's subcommittee assignments is on there
6a: If they're on that subcommittee, great! go ahead and call using the same script as above
6b: If they're not on that subcommittee, click the "get alerts" button to get automatic updates if movement happens, or set a reminder to check back later and see if it's moved

not everything is a psyop some people just have bad opinions.
(this post made by a non-american and any reference to american politics or politicians, be they real or completely imagined, are purely coincidental. additionally, this post is an american electoral politics free zone and if you use this space to campaign on behalf of your american political candidate of choice, you will be drawn and quartered. thank you for your understanding)
