I could easily see Viperthorn, Vixenlight, and Vanillatoe (and Birdfall, ofc) coming with Vinestar to the DF!

Vixenlight and Viperthorn barely even got a chance to be warriors, so I'm sure they'd revel in the opportunity to grow in the DF!

And ofc Vanillatoe and Birdfall would love to spend time with their adoptive son and his new family - though Ghostwatcher's murders came as a shock to them, they still love him to the end and back regardless!

...Actually, I just remembered that Vanillatoe and Birdfall had a litter of kits that all passed away right before they adopted Ghostkit/watcher. Maybe they come with their parents as well, so they can grow up?

Hard-working, and serious, Viperthorn tends to be more aggressive than his younger brother Snakeshade. Like his brother, he has a hard time living in Adderstar’s shadow, and most of his sour attitude comes from trying to fill those paw-prints.

this took me like 500 years to answer and i'm so indecisive even in posting this, however... :) lists assembled! some of them are in order, some aren't, some have multiple cats filling one "slot" because they're usually family and "equal" in the sense of being a favorite. i'm also doing my best to limit dead characters unless they're recently deceased, but...some are too important to leave out.

Since Vinestar seems to be the hot topic now, here's some lore about him I came up with on the spot:

-He is the second youngest of the Dark Reign leaders, only being beat by Alderstar himself. He was born right after the events of Gorsedaisy's Nightmare to Thistlefrost and Wolftalon, both of whom were unfortunately killed by dogs right after Vinestar and his littermates became apprentices.

-He has three littermates - two brothers, Vanillatoe and Viperthorn, and a sister, Vixenlight. Viperthorn and Vixenlight passed away in a greencough outbreak shortly after the four became warriors. Vanillatoe survived and eventually went on to adopt Ghostwatcher alongside his mate, Birdfall.

-Vinestar's warrior name was Vinestripe!

-Vinestar's mentor was the deputy of SkyClan at the time, Egretbone. The two became extremely close, to the point where when Vinestripe discovered that Egretbone was secretly mates with a RiverClan warrior, Horsecreek, he encouraged Egretbone to leave SkyClan to be happy in RiverClan with Horsecreek. Egretbone recommended Vinestripe to be the next deputy in gratitude.

-His other apprentice aside from Ghostwatcher (the apprentice he needed to become deputy was Ashenwing (a warrior seen in the Rainstar's Burden allegiances) The two didn't get along as well as Vinestar did with Egretbone, and Vinestar wanted to get a second chance at that close bond with Ghostpaw/watcher.

-Vinestar died about thirty or so moons into Rainstar's leadership of ShadowClan, saving a group of apprentices from a badger. He had four lives remaining, but the badger tore his head off of his body, causing him to lose all of those lives instantaneously.

-Vinestar only found out about Ghostwatcher's murders when he went to StarClan, and was instantly torn up with grief. I could easily see him choosing to move permanently to the Dark Forest to spend more time with Ghostwatcher and his family!

I actually thought "man I want this man to get attention" after designing him, so THIS MAKES ME HAPPY

I do like the thought of him coming to the DF, too! Maybe some family comes with him, like Viperthorn and possibly his parents?

Also, unrelated to the dark song conversation, but I fucking ADORED Rainstar's nine lives ceremony, and it inspired me to write down what Vinestar's nine lives were!

Thistlefrost (one of Vinestar's dads): patience

Wolftalon (one of Vinestar's dads): loyalty

Viperthorn (Vinestar's brother): perserverance

Vixenlight (Vinestar's sister): empathy

Newtkit (one of Vinestar's childhood best friends): courage

Copperpaw (one of Vinestar's childhood best friends): independence

Pumpkintail (the previous medicine cat): motherly love

Gracklestar (the previous leader): wisdom

Awww Newtkit..that makes me want to explore his early years. Do you have an idea? cause at the top of my head I imagine Newtkit got sick and was sick for some moons. Vinepaw (only a couple moons or even just one moon older and therefor an apprentice) chose to train as a medicine cat because they wanted to save their friend, and when they couldn't, they thought of themselves as a failure. Pumpkintail encouraged them and told them that they just weren't meant to be a medicine cat (not in relation to 'not being able to save Newt'--that would have more been Pumpkintail's responsibility, but because Vinepaw was clearly meant for the life of a warrior and he shouldn't live a life of misery in an attempt to overcome guilt and grief that would never actually leave him). Maybe this is also why Pumpkin is important enough to appear at his ceremony
