writing update for november! i wrote ~32k words this month, which smashed my mini-nano goal. i again took a one week vacation where i barely wrote at all so i feel slightly insane now lmao

i read the lavender bush by @canyon-wizard and then wrote the bulk of this in two days. they’re not really related fics but specific pain points held my attention. i’m very thankful for the attention this fic has gotten, it really surprised me but i’m glad people like it!

honestly life is about uploading wips that have been in ur folder for close to a year just so you can excise it from your mind. this is for the people giving me the 28 hits on my weird insane vikvel shit <3 this fic was a soft rewrite of preliminary testing, based partially on this fanart of viktor and the hexclaw

i wrote the entirety of this in five days and then only touched it up for another week in editing. literally who am i. anyway i love writing fluffy fun AUs actually and i love blumendrei

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

fascinating question. most of my fics are not very wild rides at all - the rides are very clearly labeled and don’t go anywhere particularly surprising 😂 i have an arcane/lol vikvel wip that easily wins the category but it languishes in my folders. currently it might be made of human-things, which probably works from the strangest base premise of all my fics (astrid is unmade and caleb puts her back together)

less about the writing and more about the process maybe, but i’ve written several fics this year that any number of months before actually posting them i would’ve said “oh, that’s not really the kind of thing i write” or “oh, i’m not good enough at xyz to write a satisfying fic about it.” i’m really proud of myself for going ahead and writing them anyway because how else am i going to learn and improve? 🤷‍♂️ the newest wip idea that popped into my head this afternoon is again another one of those but i’m probably going to give it a try anyway and i think that’s cool of me actually

writing update for october! this was a nice and simple month. i wrote 16k words, which makes october one of my more productive months this year despite taking a week-long vacation when i didn’t write at all

14k words went into a series on my new second ao3 account

1k words went to blood moon, the first chapter of which i have finally posted

1k words went to a new explicit shadowgast oneshot (codename: ponytail) that i started upon realizing how few there actually are!!

i also looked over my zerxus fic again and fixed it up to something a little more comprehensible

much like last year now that 2023 is approaching i want to make a significant effort to clear out some things from my wips that have been sitting around for months so some things are just finally going to get the boot!! they have been living here rent free for too long!!

writing update for june! this one is nice and easy because it is simply Not A Lot. i wrote about 6.5k words total during the month. i was busy and i don’t feel too bad about it, though i should probably try and shift my writing habit to a more sustainable time because “right before bed” gets it done but usually only in tiny snippets

[COMPLETED] we will still be (friends forever), the redacted project that i have been sitting on for a happy few months, 1761 words (total)

i jotted down this idea in december 2021 when my roommate came up with it - started working on it at the end of march - and finally got to deliver the product, which is very satisfying. inventing three OCs just to gossip about my fave characters is extremely fun!

writing update for march!

i wrote about 4.5k for the critrole blood moon AU and finished one larger arc and one smaller arc!! the end is actually kind of in sight now which is .. terrifying, actually

polished and published an unfinished draft from last year, the shadowgast “getting ready together” fic

finished and published a shadowgast blood moon oneshot, a blumendrei amnesia fic, and finally the arcane jayvik “bearing it” fic

wrote another 2k words for the second installment of the modern gamer jayvik AU and did some work on a third - i have the concept for it but haven’t really figured out how to make it work

started three other oneshots: another vikvel oneshot focused on the hexclaw, [redacted project], and my incredibly self-indulgent crossover fic where jayvik meets widofjord

no progress on: the critrole modern university AU, the modern critrole astrid/wulf/fjord/jester sedoretu fic, the blumendrei fic focused on astrid/wulf over the years

overall i started the month with 10 WIPs and ended with 10 (sounds about right). i wrote about 13k words over 31 days, which is significantly lower than january and february, but restrictions lifted during march and i’m not surprised that more of my time went to other things. i published on ao3 every sunday, because having a schedule ahead of time really does work for me!

i think my main project for april will be properly figuring out the third installment of that jayvik gamer AU 🤔

also in the WIP wednesday spirit - i’ve gotten really into writing trackers the past few months! here’s what i’ve been up to in january:

wrote 6k words for the arcane jayvik “bearing it” fic

wrote 3.5k words for the critrole blood moon au. it’s now about 22k words total, which is exciting, and i also started on a oneshot in the same universe that’s sitting at around 1k currently

finished and published two oneshots carried over from last year (the beaujes college AU and the blumendrei “body fix” fic)

wrote and published two other oneshots (the vikvel battlecast fic and the jayvik early divorce era fic)

chipped away at my modern critrole astrid/wulf/fjord/jester sedoretu fic

started two other oneshots not yet mentioned: a jayvik battlecast fic (done, will be uploaded soontm) and a league jayvik modern AU where they’re both retired esports pros (also mostly done)

no progress on my critrole university AU, the shadowgast polymorph fic, or the critrole amnesia fic, but i’m coming to terms with the idea that i’m unlikely to finish some of these and will probably just polish up what i have and post them eventually

remembered that i wrote a few thousand words of a hogwarts AU that i could also tidy up and post?? haven’t done that yet though

overall i started the month with 10 WIPs and ended the month with 11 WIPs (sigh). i wrote about 18.5k words over 31 days, which i’m perfectly content with. i published a fic on 4/5 sundays, which is great, although i’m sure i won’t be able to keep that pace once i’ve cleaned up my existing stash of half-finished oneshots. i would love to finish the arcane jayvik “bearing it” fic as my main project for february - we’ll see how that goes!

writing update for august! i wrote just over 13k words this month, which is pretty decent, and most importantly: i have actually been finishing and posting things!!

i had this idea for a year before i ever attempted to write because i didn’t think i was a good enough writer to pull it off, but i’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. the bulk of this fic was written in may, then reshaped and finished last month

[COMPLETED] of the animal saving me, the wizards/blumendrei cats oneshot, 2727 words total

one of those fics that i wrote like a fever dream over only a handful of days. trying to refind my joy in just taking an idea that enters my head and running with it. this was fun!

[COMPLETED] meanwhile the world goes on, the wizards polycule prompt challenge oneshot that i did with sol!!, 14399 words total

i’ve wanted to do a prompt challenge like this for so long and i’m so glad i finally did 🥰 it’s a helpful way to structure my writing when i’m more interested in a slow character exploration with no real plot. also writing side by side with someone is just constantly trying to bribe each other with snippets and i wouldn’t have it any other way

this has actually already been posted because i take forever to write these wrap ups 🙂 honestly sol can be blamed for 70% of the thoughts in my brain at this point. this was from a throwaway line from their wizards polycule fic that got incredibly stuck in my head

i also just posted this! it reminded me i wanted to finish writing this wrap up! anyway, i opened this fic after not working on it for several weeks and realized that it wasn’t just mostly finished, it really was basically finished

writing update for april!

this month, i uploaded the rest of my shadowgast “getting ready together” fic and the second installment of my modern gamer jayvik AU, which means my backlist is pretty much empty. it lasted way longer than i thought it would haha but there won’t be any more weekly scheduled updates, i’ll just upload whenever i finish something!

things i’m working on:

i wrote about 3.5k for the critrole blood moon AU this month. however. i’m pretty sure i’m going to rewrite these chapters because i find them clumsy, even though i said i wouldn’t drastically edit. i do want to just push for the end first since i’m almost there though

i restarted my blumendrei fic focused on astrid and wulf over the years and wrote about 4k for this draft. it’s almost finished and i quite like it!

i accomplished my april goal, which was figuring out the third installment of my modern gamer jayvik AU. i’ve got the shape of the fic now and another 1.5k into the word count

i put another 500 words into both the vikvel oneshot and the [redacted project] i started last month. they’re both very close to done, i just need to actually finish them

i started a continuation of my amnesia!bren fic from wulf’s perspective but i haven’t gotten far because i haven’t really decided yet what tone i’m going for?

the CR/LoL crossover fic and my two modern critrole AUs (a university AU, the astrid/wulf/fjord/jester sedoretu AU) are on the back burner currently. both modern fics have the same problem where i’ve thought a lot about the characters but there isn’t a “plot” for me to write so i just never write. lmao. i’m thinking of writing from a prompts list so i can at least get something out but it’s a low priority

overall i started the month with 10 WIPs and ended with 9. i wrote about 11.5k words which is less than last month but on track with my goals. unfortunately i’ve felt pretty busy and about 50% of the word count was from the one week i took off work. i can meet word count goals just by pecking away late at night but it frustrates me to feel like i don’t have a lot of time or space to sit down and think only about writing but i guess that’s life or something 🤷‍♂️
