watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.

like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.

Posted a meme just now but also my personal thoughts on vax and his relationship with coming back and his relationship with the matron.

When I think about them as a god and as a champion there is something so terribly tragic about Vax and the Matron. Both so deeply in love with the people they cared about in life and both so duty bound to safeguard the souls of the people of Exandria.

The Matron giving Vax one night to pretend like the world is fine and nothing bad could have ever happened to him or his loved ones, that nothing was ever scarified for love. She can watch him hug little Gwen and look at Vax Jr/Freddy with big adoring eyes and smile at the Twins seeing a mirror of his beloved sister and himself in both Wolfe and Leona and seeing the little Vesper he saw as a baby as a beautiful grown woman. The Matron can watch for one night and think about the god- no the person that she loved that gave everything (including their duty and family) to her because they thought the earth and the universe about her, and maybe she can think about what ifs about her life with them. She can picture what their face looked like and how their hands felt in hers.

Maybe just for tonight the Matron and her champion can surrender duty and obligation and loyalty and see their loved ones before the world crumbles before their very eyes.

I'm just saying, Orym knows something about being stuck on the death of your first love. Of being constantly reminded of them and their death, seeing signs of them every day, making it that much harder to get over them.

But now he has found a new love, and despite the seeing Will several times, being reminded of him every time he looks at the moons or swings his sword, he is ready to move forward. "It's pretty great, living a lifetime." He wants to try again.

If anyone would have some wise words for Keyleth to help her get through this, it would be him.

for the record i think what happens to vax'ildan tonight is whatever liam feels is correct for his character whose story became about the heavy meta knowledge of his journey of grief in c1, and how he feels about that journey of grief now, and any decision made would have weight in liams feelings on his mothers loss

i have become unreasonably fixated on the raven queen potentially being a champion of the god of death a Very Long Time Ago, so utterly devoted to them that she was willing to help them die, and the hypothetical future of that particular domain becoming a title of succession should the primary exandrian pantheon bite the dust

sometimes, only sometimes, i think back to the moment when scanlan came back to vox machina — and they had their first night in the scanlan's magnificent mansion after a long while — and scanlan played cards with vax while catching up on things that happened during the year they've been apart — and vax said i am happy and it took scanlan by such surprise he asked again as if he wasn't sure he had heard him right.

the last thing he remembered of vax was him on a really low point, mirrored by his own, filled with pain, guilt, fear and a myriad of unknown troubles atop of that. and then he left to fix himself, find his own, and vax had a moment to do this too, it seems, and scanlan was so happy for him. so happy and so sad he wasn't there to witness it. yet, still happy.

and to think, as i do sometimes, that scanlan wanted vax — now healed, happy vax — to live, to have more time and yet, was forced to choose in a matter of moments between the whole world and a little percent chance of saving his friend. it's so cruel that it happened to be him to make that decision.

it's so cruel that it's sam who had to give up a ninth level spell to stop the mad god and not to save liam's character.

sometimes i just think and sometimes i think i shouldn't...

i knew from the moment i saw him that i wanted to draw vax!! (though at first it was a tough choice between him and alaska haha, they're both so pretty!!) i've mentioned that i absolutely adore his design, and i really do! drawing him was such a delight!! you mentioned here that he loves butterflies and moths, which i thought is the most precious thing so i wanted to draw him (and by extension, lincoln lol) around some butterflies! :D

i have not read ilw, but i really enjoyed seeing all the works you've done your blog!! the edits especially, big fan of peeled lincoln 🥔

Okay, fine, you've finally pissed me off enough that I'm willing to talk politics on tumblr

I can't speak for all leftists, but when THIS leftist says they're having a hard time voting for Biden this time around, it's not because I don't want people to vote or because I genuinely think Trump wouldn't be any worse

It's because this is the administration that made me finally realize, on a deep and profound gut level, that none of these people actually care about us. That electoralism won't save us - HASN'T saved us, not from COVID, or wildfires, or cops, or billionaires, or genocide.

"But Trump will make all those things worse--" Yeah for sure! But things are bad enough right now that we can't, at least I can't, continue on like things are now, even if I felt like I could trust Biden (or any Democrat, let's be honest, this isn't about him at all, we're not even fighting about primaries this time because we aren't being given a choice) to keep them from getting worse.

By all means, we should vote for Biden, because things getting worse more slowly is better than things getting worse faster. But we deserve better than a life that only gets a little bit worse every year, and I'm sick of people telling me I'm being ungrateful for wanting more than that.

Again: THIS ISN'T ABOUT WHO TO VOTE FOR. this is about spending your time on something, anything - union organizing, clean air advocacy, bringing food and shelter to the houseless, physically preventing the movement of weapons and military contractors - that has a better chance of saving lives than any politician.

"The revolution isn't going to come next year -" okay, well, neither is pushing Dems far enough left that they stop supporting Israel or do anything about emissions or anything else that treats human lives as more important than a billionaire's profit margins. The presidential election happens once every four years, WHY are we ceding an entire year to defending a piece of shit because he's slightly less of a piece of shit than the other guy? What if I told you there's a secret third thing, and that thing isn't voting for a third party but making a once-every-four-years vote as unimportant to you as your wants and desires and hopes and dreams are to any of the people you'd vote for and working your ass off on SOMETHING THAT HELPS PEOPLE instead?
