Before jumping into who this is, allow me to give you a concept I’ve been ironing out: cannibalism for survival vs cannibalism for fun and profit. People have explained cannibalism as sex vs cannibalism as capitalism writing choice and… I’m planning on turning my concept to another axis to make this a grid to analyze cannibalism plots in.

Anyways, this is capitalism/survival, but it’s got sexy undertones (or at least it would be if I expanded it)

The son of a Mexican-American man and an Irish woman, Fionn Torres was rather average most of his life. About the most abnormal thing about him was that he had a chronic illness that no one could quite understand. He was constantly malnourished and unable to regain those nutrients in food. IVs and feeding tubes were both tried throughout his life, but neither really worked. Especially once his family was denied more and more healthcare, meaning appointments about Fionn’s health became more and more expensive, as did any medicine or treatment recommended to keep him healthy.

Despite having access to food and water and all other basic necessities, Fionn was more or less starving to death. After collapsing in his first year of college and rushed to the emergency room, a medical student claimed there was nothing to do for the mystery illness, especially when experimental treatment would cost an arm and a leg… and something snapped. When asked, Fionn will answer that he has no idea why he did it. All the same, he grabbed the student and sunk his teeth into them. Strangely, even the small amount of blood was enough to perk him up. It seemed the cure to his illness was more abundant than anyone expected.

In no circumstance would he tell his parents this, but he had enough of a morally grey, ethical in theory group around him, that they were more than willing to help. When you think about it, with all the evil in the world, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad thing if Fionn ate a few people

Obviously, the main hope is that one of these days they’ll just find Eddie at the marina. Just wandering about, or something. It’s a possibility, albeit a slim one. The real value of regular marina trips is the intel. A currency more valuable than money, at this point. 

They always stop at Kurt’s first. Kurt lives on a houseboat - the youngest son of a wealthy, old-money type family - and didn’t end up leaving when vampire activity kind of took over the marina. He makes a decent side hustling smuggling things in and out; people, blood, you name it. And, importantly, he loves Sophia. 

Buck is always impressed with the way Sophia can seem to play to any audience. For someone very pragmatic and even in her day-to-day life, she can don a mask and give a performance better than Buck could ever hope. Lying has made him turn inward; bottle himself up and become hard to avoid spilling over with truth. Sophia makes an art of it. She’s far more than half the reason they have any connections at all. Buck would be lost without her.

Buck watches Genevieve and Christopher interact with a plain joy on his face that takes Eddie by surprise. Then he remembers that Buck is just getting to know his niece over the past year, and from their day at the beach together, it seems like he’s working pretty hard to do so. And this little girl has gone through a lot. Seeing her happy just makes Buck happy. And that makes Eddie fall for him even more. 

After dinner the adults have a glass of wine on Buck’s back porch, overlooking the ocean, while Chris and Genevieve play video games inside. At one point, Buck gets up to grab everyone a refill, leaving Eddie and Maddie alone for a brief moment. 

Maddie doesn’t waste any time. 

“You’re good for him,” she says, practically the second the door closes behind Buck.

Eddie is stuck in the throes of decision paralysis. Well, decision paralysis and another urgent sensation. God, he’s so screwed. There’s no coming back from this, is there? Even if he gets up and walks away from this, uh, opportunity, how can they both pretend that last night didn’t change the dynamic between them?

THE INSERT: FIONN, a changeling from another planet. They get to Vargon by different means depending on the AU. I'll make another post about them in more detail.

ADRIK WOODS: The main character of his story, literally. He's his father's chosen successor, he's a pawn of the gods that he will one day join, he's trying to heal from insane trauma, he's a linguistics nerd, he's an addict, he's beautiful, he's silly, he's just a little kitty. Well, not really that last one, but he's about as close as you get without actually being it. Adrik doesn't know this, but he was created by the gods to eventually replace them when they die. His life until now has been trial after trial after trial, in order to prepare his soul for that transition. Technically he has a twin sibling, but they were separated when they were young and are now estranged. As you can imagine, Adrik is a huge celebrity on Vargon, not only because of his political power but also because of his incredible skill at appealing to the public. He's a social chameleon and he's suffering. One of Vargon's biggest "It" Girls <3 He is soulmates with and eventually married to my OC Delilah, but they're polyam so it's cool. FITZ MY'TYALA: Ex military pilot forced to retire due to an incredibly tragic accident that left him physically disabled and severely traumatized. He became friends with Adrik and was eventually hired as an employee of the brothel Adrik owns called The Velvet Fang. (Sex is viewed very differently on Vargon, and brothels are common. The VF in particular welcomes a lot of non-vargonian tourists that may not be able to handle the harshness of the rest of the planet. The brothel is ethically run, and everyone working there are incredibly close knit as a "pack," essentially a vargonian chosen family.) Fitz is snarky and laid back, but also incredibly polite and modest by vargonian standards. To a human, though, that still comes off as pretty raunchy. Compared to some other members of the VF, he may seem very normal, but don't let that fool you; he has chosen them to hang out with, after all. SHIP TAG: .mousetrap

JOY WOODS: One of the eldest Woods siblings. Princess of the planet, political powerhouse, faithless head of church secretly leading a revolution against the Shadow Council that has tortured her family and people since she was young. She's a severe workaholic and alcoholic, who dreams of someday living a domestic life with loving partners and many children of her own. In the meantime, though, she's emotionally distant and represses everything. You can't blame her, though - She's raised most of her seventy-something siblings and watched far too many of them meet gruesome ends anyway. Secretly a huge party girl raver, but she never gets the time these days. Lily Woods' twin sister. The two had a bad falling out years ago and have a strained but unbreakable relationship which is mostly antagonistic on the surface, but they couldn't survive without each other. LILY WOODS: Another of the eldest Woods siblings. While she also handles a lot of political and familial labor, most people know her as a pro skateboarder. She's like if Tony Hawk was an eight-foot-tall, blood-drinking, ripped, stoner bisexual. Lily may present herself as "the irresponsible twin," but she's actually the more emotionally mature one. That doesn't mean she isn't hiding her own traumas behind a mask of humor, of course - Just that she's the one more likely to eventually have a serious conversation about it. She comes off as cool and confident, but actually has terrible self esteem due to always comparing herself to Joy. On Vargon, twins are actually the same soul split in half and put in two bodies by the gods, and Lily feels as though she's the worse half. Obviously, I disagree. SHIP TAG: .the bit

The Bryceriel theory (which is very long and detailed) relied on the next book being House of Flame and Shadow. It’s literally in the name.

Imagine if Elain’s book had the words “shadow” in it - you’d immediately think elriel was confirmed.

And House of Flame and Shadow in CC is full of beings from Hel (reapers, vampires, the deamonaki). One of the first thing Bryce notices about Azriel is that his wings are the same as the demons from Hel (and there’s so many theories about Azriel being a Prince of Hel, or descended from one).

What’s more, is that Bryce is Theia’s heir, and bears her exact light. Theia left her original world (and her original lover, presumed to be either Fionn or Pelias), for Aidas - a Prince of Hel. Rigelus says that Bryce is repeating Theia’s history… leaving Hunt and Midgard for Prythian - and meeting Azriel.

I don’t get involved with shipping, but the bryceriels a have a fair point- even more so after today’s announcement. If I had to bet on Azriel’s endgame, yeah, I’d probably say Bryce.

To me, a much simpler and more logical explanation is that Azriel is connected to Dusk Court. He shares many similar characteristics as Ruhn, who is obviously connected to it too, Az might be connected to the Princes of Hel, if the Illyrians were 'created' by them.

That's it.

He might be an Heir to Dusk. Might be having some type of blood connection. Something along those lines.

Not that he is mates with Bryce. Bryce left CC and ended up in Prythian, much like Aelin left Erilea and ended up (briefly) in Prythian. She is a actual Heir of Fire. No one is claiming that she is Azriel's mate!

Fire/Flame and Shadow might also be referring to Ruhn and Lidia.

I am sorry, it's gonna be a no from me on the Bryceriel as Mates theory.

Ever since he'd taken on the late-night slot at Harbor FM, Linc had continued his tradition of abandoning any kind of normal sleep schedule. It felt like he was on the road again with the band, stumbling into his bed past 3 a.m. and waking up just hours later to the early morning light. Afternoon naps and over-caffeination were his only saving grace. But, it worked out well-- he had the slot all to himself and, thus, could subject his hometown to experimental indie beats and '80s deep cuts to his heart's content, and there was an easy handover from him to Mom to monitor Dad. Not that Dad needed it, according to Dad.

He'd gotten a break this morning, though, with Mom working from home and shooing him out the door with a vaguely threatening encouragement to 'Go make some friends, stop living like a vampire!' He was sure vampires and rockstars had a lot in common, namely that he was neither, but Linc knew better than to fight with her. Instead, he claimed a table in the sun outside of Caffélicious, half-reading Having and Being Had and half-people watching. He was lost between its pages when a sudden flurry of unsteady footsteps crashed into his iron table. Linc dropped his book to the table, immediately leaning down to look at the bright-eyed kid. "Woah, hey, little man!" he smiled, offering his hands palm-up to steady him.

"You're pretty fast and furious, those things street legal?" he asked, laughing. Linc glanced up and caught the eye of who he assumed was the child's caretaker. "Are you his manager? I'd really like to ask for an autograph..."

Maybe he'd fucked up, was a thought which crossed Fionn's slightly addled mind. The vampire had assured him trading blood for weed was a good deal, and that it wouldn't even hurt, and with the cut hours he was about to deal with what with The Catch needing repairs, he'd thought it would be a good shout to save money. That being said, was he meant to feel so... out of it?

He put a hand to his neck as he stumbled along dizzily, reaching out to the wall for stability. He'd expected it to be a small wound and to heal quick, but his hand came away wet and even in the dim alley he could see the liquid was dark, was his own blood. The thought made Fionn slightly nauseous, or maybe that was the blood loss, and with the distraction and his vision blurring he barely saw the girl pass in front of him and nearly bumped straight into her, only at the last minute managing to take an unsteady step back with a wide eyed, unfocused look of apology, "sorry, I'm sorry-"

The big PMC run down

Since I am posting PMCtober and not everyone knows about the characters I am wriitng about. Some see a name for the very first time. Its time, for a big PMC run down:

ALEKSANDER "PRATÀ" ASCHEMACHER

general information: German-Russian, Trans man, Medic in the PMC Wiedergänger, he/him

Backstory: Aleks grew up in a very abusive and negative household, which the scars on his body are evidence of. With 17 he gets help from Lasse after he attempts, finally living his life under his rule but still unstable. with 19 his sister and mum die in a snow storm he barely survives and he gets kicked out the Bund because of the mental instability, joining the Wiedergänger from then on as their main Medic. He is pretty standoffish but its a consequence of his difficult upbringing but he can be a softie beneath it all. Aleks dies at 28 saving the other two. relation with other pmc characters: close friends with helena, Fionn and Lara, in love with Rostik and aaron once they join, on good terms with the rest of the pmc. Hate flirts with Fuchs and has a difficult sibling ish relationship with Vampir.

FIONN DOUGLAS "SCHNEE" SNOW

general information: Irish-American, Trans man, Negotiation and extraction specialist of the PMC, Amputee, vitiligo, they/he

Backstory: Fionn grew up in America as the oldest of his siblings. After their mum dies after the birth of their youngest sibling, Fionn takes over most of the chores and is forced into a second-parent position. At 14, Fionn gets pregnant with his son Reed, who their father adopts after the birth so Fionn can enjoy the last painful years of teenage hood. To pay for college, they go to the army afterwards, where they meet and start dating Elijah. After a mission they loose their leg to an explosion and end up meeting their second lover, Winley, as pysiotherapist. He joins the PMC because the army wont take him back without leg. Fionn fake dies and he dies (?) .... some day. relation with other pmc characters: besties with Aleks and Helena, in love with winley and Elijah, hate flirts with Fuchs.

HELENA "CALVARY" REITER

general information: austrian, sniper of the PMC, she/her

Backstory: Helena grew up with an alcoholic dad and a scared mum. After she finally convinced her mum to leave him behind, the two move into a village that is led by a cult, which gets her mum to join and keeps antagonizing helena for not joining them. At 17 her mum dies and to get away and get control of her life, Helena drops school and joins the austrian army. on a mission with a bunch of useless men to get another cult disbanded, they get captured and helena is tortured for a few weeks. she ends up crucified by the cult and put on display in the cold, only for Fionn and Aleks to safe her, who were placed there by their respective armies. She joins the PMC because the Bundesheer wouldnt take her back. She has a few anger issues that get better over time and she ends up in a relationship with Vampir at some pointish relation with other pmc characters: closest with Fionn and Aleks, puppy love with Vampir

ROSTISLAV "KÖTER" DVORAK

general information: czech-german, ABC-Squad specialist of the PMC, he/him, tall as fuck (210 cm)

Backstory: Rostik grew up in a calm household until his sister was born and his parents left all the responisbility with him, which the young teen couldnt handle. Since they never looked at his achievements and didnt bother coming to his school events, he started acting out at 16 and ended up join an illegal underground fight club and had some very bad sexual experience in that time. He manages to free himself and focuses on getting into a uni in germany instead to learn Bio-Chem. After he does his doctors work he sees no satisfaction in the labarotory and joins the army as ABC specialist instead. After years of abuse from there and he gets a call to join the Wiedergänger, does so and ends up in love with two other soldiers, aleks and aaron. He dies at 32 together with Aleks.

AARON "KUWAGO" FLORES

general information: Filipino, Drone-pilot and sniper of the PMC, he/him, smol.

Backstory: He had a pretty good life in the phillipines until their house was targeted by and attack and he burned in the fire from the attack. His parents move to Germany to safe them and Aaron ends up joining the army to hopefully share the pain of not belonging with someone else. He joins the PMC after a mission with Captain Aschemacher from the Wiedergänger and falls in love with Aleks and Rostik. He moves back to the phillipines after their death relation with other pmc characters: in love with Aleks and Rostik, friends with everyone else. ELIJAH "RANGER" SNOW

general information: Texan, sniper in the PMC, he/they

Backstory: Eli grew up on a range and joins the army, meets fionn and falls in love with them. They switch over to the pmc when Fionn does as well, falls in love with Winley too. Doesnt trust many of the others for a long while. relation with other pmc characters: Loves Fionn and Winley, okay with the others existing for the most part

WINLEY "PELICAN" SIMA

general information: russian-american, kinesology and combat medic of the pmc, she/her

Backstory: Winley joins the pmc after falling in love with Fionn when they lost their leg, usually remains of the field. She tries to connect with her russian heritage and asks Aleks about it any time he can, who is more hesitant to share relation with other pmc characters: in love with fionn and Elijah, bothers aleks about Russian and medic stuff, friends with the rest

VAMPIR

general information: croatian, Commander of rival PMC, she/her

Backstory: She grew up as the older, scapegoat child and had to change her career path multiple times to appease her parents or her younger brother, Maxim. When her parents die she makes it her goal to track down Maxim and get rid of him so none of her family exists anymore and she gets her revenge. Ends up falling in love with Helena. Also ends up in jail cause Aleks is a little shit relation with other pmc characters: Best friends with Fuchs, In love with Helena, siblingish relationship with Aleks, okay with the others

MARKUS FUCHS

general information: Swiss, Vampirs right hand in the rivalry pmc, hate flirts with everyone he can, he/him

Backstory: Had to go to the army because of swiss law but they let him go after the mandatory service because they dont think he is good enough. Joins Vampirs PMC after rescuing her from dying and becoming best friends with her. might die, might not, he does lose an arm though. relation with other pmc characters: best friends with Vampir, hate flirts with aleks and fionn religiously, fine with the others CAPTAIN SOCRATES

Backstory: Makes the PMC after she was bothered too often by the american army, we dont know what happens to her but we love her relation with other pmc characters: takes Fionn under her wing tightly, likes the others too LARA "VIHANSA" NEILSON

Elsternwick Spring Update! (04-24-24)

Good evening, everyone! We hope your day and the month of April has been well, we've been busy at work planning a number of events, and encounters, and while we've been excited to share them with you, we only feel now they are finally ready to be seen, and we hope you'll look forward to them! So, why don't we begin with some new arrivals?

Now, onto the second part of the announcement!

As you may have seen in our previous update, we have an update planned for Spring! Enough time has passed, and we believe that is is all ready to go!

Overabundant Life (Spring Event: April - Mid June!)

With the death kneels of a mushroom man who was preventing the cycle of life and rebirth, an explosion of pent up natural and life energy has saturated Elsternwick and the surrounding area, Spring was delayed for a month or so, but now it is here in full force... perhaps a bit too much full force!

Plants and vines are growing all over town, on buildings, on people, everywhere! There's even a few rare plants that hunger for human flesh... and herbs that many will pay a pretty penny for, hope you've got your shears at the ready!

Not only that, but an explosion of animal life has brought new life to the forest, all types of creatures are wandering in and around the forests of Elsternwick, baby animals, protective mother animals, and a few odd ones you may have seen before, you'll have to be careful, if you're feeling daring, maybe you can go hunting...? Make sure they're cleared to hunt!

With melting ice and flowing water, the Lakes and Rivers of Elsternwick are brimming with latent life, hungry fish, and unusually clear water, it's a fine time to fish, or perhaps explore the lakes around town, you may even find some long forgotten treasure...

And finally, as Spring begins, Arcadia Carnival begins with a grand festival, tents and games of all types are visible around the board walk, with portals to other worlds freely open, wonderful visitors of Fae Nobility wander freely, and promises of endless joy surround the carnival... there's even a promotion to get extra Arcadia Tickets! Perhaps just this one you can trust faeries...?

And that's just a few things planned for our Spring Event! As you can see, it's focused mainly on how Spring has life growing all over the place, and we think there's plenty of opportunities for interesting roleplays, we look forward to what you may end up doing!

It ends in Mid June, so don't fret, you've got plenty of time before our Summer Events!

Upcoming Features

Finally, we have a small update on some of our upcoming events for 2024!

In 2023, a majority of the events were serious and focused on Story, including alternates, curses, and emotional energy running amuck, for 2024, we decided that this year's events would instead focus inward, with a majority of our events focusing on Locations within Elsternwick, and expanding on the lore of our fair city!

This was player voted on thanks to Discord's brand new Poll feature, which also helped us decide which places to focus on with upcoming events, and we're pleased to give you a small teaser of what's to come in Mid-May! Hopefully you won't be waiting too long...

Elsternwick's rivers have long run through the town, with many passing over it, unaware that another long river flows beneath...

When problems begin to plague Elsternwick's water, citizens will have to traverse into the maintained sewer sections and find various surprises, and perhaps a glimpse into something forgotten in the town's past.

You'll be surprised by What Lurks Beneath. As Above, So Below, as they say...

We're still ironing out the details, but we hope you'll look forward to it when it's ready in May!

Once this is finished, why not cool down and head to the beach?

Amazing things are beginning to wash up on the shores, and the roar of the ocean hides many things, valuable and wonderful things that the Museum and Library may be very interested in...

With the return of an ancient book, strange things are happening there, and perhaps some of these beach curios could help calm whatever has taken root in the library, bringing history to life...

Our next Event will likely overlap with Summer, so you'll be waiting longer for it, but we hope you'll look forward to it!

he's cleaned up a little, albeit the place still looks cluttered despite the furniture being moved back into its original place - though, that may be to do with the easel that stands in the corner of his living room, canvas covered by a cloth that disguises the image underneath. next to it sits a stool in which jean-claude has spent hours perched upon, bent at an odd angle, painstainkly mixing the right colours upon his palette which lies atop the seat. there is even a tall, thin-legged table which contains multiple jars of clouded water, brushes stuck haphazardly in as if the vampire only stopped his passion project moments ago...

which, he did. all because elora wanted to come over and gush about her new boy, fionn. and he wanted to - well. well. not gush, no, he was far too old to be getting excited and filled with butterflies at the prospect of another man but. but but but. here he was, painting him. matthew baudelaire. fuck!

a knock at the door, it must be elora - he quickly moves to open, dragging the young woman inside his home as he so often does, not waiting for an introduction or allowing her comment on his ghoulish appearance.

Anywhere that Valentin resided in, one of the important factors which needed to be sorted was setting up a proper feeding schedule with live donors, a task which was normally done by his personal assistant who knew well his preferences but there was still room for error and a vampire as particular about the blood he consumed regularly was, the final decision making process was ultimately left up to him. His personal assistant would set up interviews as any normal hiring process and then a taste test. This was the taste test for one such potential applicant and a glance toward the paper file indicated his name was Fionn Christie, and a human. It was his name, which was not at all common, which piqued the vampire's interest for it was similar to his own birth name. Valentin St John was not his real name, after all, for any vampire living beyond the normal stretches of a human lifespan that remained in moderate public eye as he did needed to change his identity every so often and Valentin St John was simply his current alias.

"You have not done this before," the vampire male made a verbal speculation regarding the human male now before him. If he was wrong, he could be corrected, but he did not imagine this young man often offered his veins to a vampire.

⌝ The excited beagle rushed forward upon the scent of a familiar mortal, the young vampire girl trailing slowly behind the excited dog, the small being clearly unaffected by all that was going on in town. His paws leaped up when he reached Fionn, trying to immediately facilitate pats from the human who had, like the other humans in town, probably been gifted so much.

⌝ Bella, of course, looked somewhat terrifying, unable to hide her vampirism as she strolled along through the hallways of the estate, long robe dragging behind her bare feet. The slit where the robe crossed over itself revealing pallid porcelain like legs, no discolouration or hint of life to them, just like the rest of her skin. Her usual golden gaze was hidden in a sea of black ink and her fangs and talons had descended. Fortunately, the fangs did not prevent her from speaking.

⌝ "Fionn, the barista," she asserted while Boss begged for the man's attention. "What are you doing in my sire's home? You haven't got lost from a tour group have you?"

Plot twist: The Vampire is actually Fionn mac Cuhail/King Arthur/King Barbarossa and he is finally awake to stand by his Country in it's darkest hour.

After centuries of slumber, a vampire awakens to find humanity on the brink of extinction by an alien invasion. Furious that his “cattle” are being wiped out, he lead terrified survivors to arms . The aliens soon learn that humans aren’t their only enemies and this predator doesn’t play fair.
