I had never heard of BTD or TPOF before you mentioned it, but I’ve now watched a playthrough of every single one of Ren’s BTD 2 routes, a few of Strade’s BTD routes, and am starting someone’s playthrough of Ren’s TPOF routes…I didn’t know I needed these games in my life so bad until now, I definitely need to play at least BTD and BTD 2 😭 I’ll have to just watch playthroughs of TPOF for now though since I really shouldn’t be buying any more games

I’m curious, what made you lean toward Ren over the others? I haven’t watched anyone else’s routes yet, I just trusted I’d like Ren best based on the content warnings and your wonderful imagine from yesterday (I’d jump at the chance to read a full-fledged fic with that idea if you ever write one!)

Definitely the fact that Ren Hana, out of any of the characters, wants to keep you alive. He wants you to like him. He wants you to stay. He wants you to be his friend and love him!

He's got a nice bedroom made for you, he'll make you meals (whether you eat them with a fork or from a dog bowl is up to your behavior <333!) and he just wants you to be happy!

It just y'know, doesn't always end so well for you. Depending on how you behave. Depending on whether or not you trigger something in him, accidentally or otherwise.

He's the character that I think falls into a yandere slant the easiest, whereas the others well, they want to kill you and only in a few instances do you end up living. Whereas Ren has the most survival endings, because he does want to keep you... how emotionally and physically damaged you are by the end of it all will vary, of course. So for me, wanting to play around with Ren is definitely more appealing from the yandere angle. (But y'know I do also go brrrrr over imagining Strade mutilating and killing me. Just a different type of itch to scratch.)

But for Ren--

I love that he can go from being sweet to indulging in cruelty, whether it's to train you or punish you or both.

I also find him fascinating because he can land in a better place, and he can be set up on a path towards being a better person and finding healing from his own trauma. But like your fate in BTD2, it's a toss of the dice. Maybe he ends up on a path where he might get some emotional healing. Maybe he ends up on a path where he's going to indulge in that dark side of himself.

And considering the path he's on in TPOF... it's also fascinating thinking about how he got there, and what happened in between.
