Part 10 of NanoWrimo hell

Pairing: demon!Johnny x reader

Description: You don’t mind helping your friends out with their party

Warnings: gore, death, slight v*re, oral sex, unedited work

You didn’t really believe in demons. They were fairytales as far as you were concerned. But that being said, you weren’t going to pass up going to this party and getting in on the extremely drunk demon summoning. It would be a fun time even if you were somewhat of a skeptic.

You even volunteered to be the ‘sacrifice’, not really caring too much about it as it would probably just be part of your friends messing with you. They even brought a trick knife and fake blood for you to symbolize what they wanted from the ceremony. The only part of this that wasn’t completely theatrical was the book and the symbols.

You laugh as you lay down on your back in the middle of the circle that was drawn out of blue sidewalk chalk on the pavement. Your friends were lighting candles while wearing robes from a cheap costume store, chanting some very strange words from the book and dancing around.

When the last word is finally spoken, you close your eyes and feel the fake knife poke at your chest harmlessly, playing your part and tearing open one of the blood packets to spill it everywhere.

Then, the entire circle around you starts to glow the same shade of coral blue it was drawn in. Wow, your friends really went to a lot of effort for this! Even they have shocked looks on their faces at how this is turning out!

Some of them even fake a panic, starting to run away from the scene as quickly as they can. You wonder briefly if you should join them, but you know your part is still playing the ‘sacrefice’ and you had to keep to it so you didn’t ruin the fun. Instead of running you pretend to die dramatically, even closing your eyes.

You feel someone flop down next to you. Maybe someone else was pretending to die dramatically too to make it scarier?

They scoot a little bit too close for your liking, but you try to stay still until you absolutely can’t hear anyway anymore. And it’s only then when you open your eyes and finally see the person next to you.

He had long blond hair poking out of a hat along with horns, wings, and a cute heart shaped tail. You laugh a little bit. The costume looked so real even if they had gotten one of the least intimidating people possible to play the ‘demon’.

You shake him lightly making him shift a little bit and giving you a glimpse of his razor sharp claws. He opens his eyes and they focus in on you. You aren’t sure what effects he’s using to make his eyes glow like that, but it looks really cool.

“I love your costume, but everyone’s gone now and we should probably follow them to wherever they went.”

He pauses for a moment but then nods, slowly moving to get back into a wheelchair he had probably pulled up the the circle. You stand up and give you arm a confused look. You swore you didn’t remember anyone drawing a star on your arm when your eyes were closed.

“Did you see where they went?”

“I know where they were planning to head after this. That’s probably where we can find them, come on.”

You start leading the strange man back to the party. It was weird that he hadn’t gotten the memo about the after party with the ritual, but it was fine now.

“So what’s your name?”

“Johnny.”

“It’s nice to meet you. I’m glad there’s someone else that wanted to do an over the top part of this like me. You make a pretty good demon and I make a pretty good sacrifice.”

He smirks and chuckles, nodding at your statement and staring at the star on your body.

“We do. More than you know.”

“I don’t get what this ritual was supposed to originally summon. Was this supposed to be some grand ritual for a powerful wish granting demon or whatever?”

“It was supposed to summon an imp familiar that would take the sacrifice’s soul as payment for serving them.”

You laugh and hold up your arm and waving the symbol around “I command you to get me a drink at the party when we get there!”

You see him roll his icy blue eyes that seem to glow more brightly than they did a moment ago. His costume really was pretty well done.

“Are we almost there? I’m starving.”

“Yeah. It should be right in that building. Feel free to grab some food when you get in.”

You see him smirk at you before he opens the door to the building.

“Is that an order?”

“You bet it is! Make sure you get enough to eat at this party.”

You walk in and go to use the bathroom and clean the fake blood off of you along with the dirt. As much as you had gotten into the whole ritual thing, you also weren’t really that willing to spend the rest of the party feeling gross and sticky.

You’re in there for a while with the water running, but you do manage to eventually get yourself cleaned off enough to go find Johnny and have a good time. Weirdly enough, everything seems quiet before you open the door. But when you open it and walk down the hallway, you suddenly know why.

There is blood and buts of organs covering the walls. Bodies of people you vaguely know are piled up on the ground with holes through their chests. You feel sick to your stomach at your the stench of iron in the room alone.

And in the middle of all of it is none other than Johnny himself, using those claws you saw before to rip into the chest cavity of the very person who had invited you here. You watch as he greedily pulls out a still beating heart and scampers off of the body, crawling over to you and grinning as he starts to bite into the organ and devour it.

You don’t really know how to react at this point. This whole time you had assumed that this was all part of the stupid ritual and they had just gotten really elaborate. But now it was obvious that the ritual had worked too well. It had been too real. An actual demon was never supposed to show up and make a deal with you.

“Whats the matter y/n? I thought you wanted me to make sure I got enough to eat.”

You start backing away towards the door as the creature stalks closer.

“T-this wasn’t what I wanted! They’re all dead! This-this ritual was a mistake! None of us actually thought we would summon you!”

He seems to move towards the door with almost blinding speed on the ground, practically purring as he clicks the lock shut and presses himself up against you.

“It doesn’t matter. Any deal made with the ritual is a valid one as long as the payment is given. You’ve already given me my first orders and now you owe me.”

“If…if the ritual actually did work…I order you to find another source of food!”

He nuzzled against your neck, his tail starting to tug at your waist and while he slipped his hands under your shirt.

“Fine. But there are only two other sources and one of them would require you to have the ability to harvest souls.”

You don’t like the sound of that, but you have to ask anyway.

“What’s the…other way I can feed you?”

He grazes his teeth over the skin, humming and pressing closer to you.

“You can give me some of your energy. Anything sexual should release it.”

“Wait, why should I feed you? You killed everyone here! You’re a monster!”

His hands are running themselves over your chest now. Almost as if he knows you will eventually say yes.

“I am, but the deal is still active. I can give you anything you want Y/N. Even if I’ve been demoted to being an imp, I still have more power than any human. I can get you money, fame, and other things you value.”

You’re about to reject his offer but you stop to think about it. On one hand he had killed your friends and tricked you, but on the other hand if what you were saying was true, you had already sold your soul to him regardless which he could take at any time.

And he was offering you enough power and money to live a happy life. To support your remaining friends who hadn’t gone to the party. Maybe even to help your other loved ones. With the leftover money you could also save it up for yourself.

And if you are being honest, Johnny isn’t bad looking. You were going to come find him and hang out with him anyway before you found out he was an actual demon. So there was a good chance the night would have ended up with the two of you in bed together regardless.

“Ok fine. But if you ever kill anyone again I’ll leave you to starve, my soul be damned. And you better be a good boy for me and make me cum.”

With this you start working off your shirt, giving Johnny’s roaming hands more caress to where they were going.

“You’re the one I made a pact with. I have to listen to you.” He shrugs and pulls your underwear and your pants down at the same time, leaving you exposed. You grind down on one of his legs, feeling yourself already getting aroused. Of course, you were close to it before.

Johnny starts trailing kisses down your neck, using his fingers to start playing with your parts. He clearly has to be careful because of the claws, but he’s ok at it.

He starts to go lower with the kissing and you can feel your face getting flushed, shuddering if the feeling you get when he does that to your sensitive skin.

Finally he gets low enough that he is beyond the parts his hands weren’t pleasuring you with. You could feel the movements of his tongue on you and you felt like your eyes were going to roll back into your head at his good it felt.

Something about the texture of his tongue felt like it was sending little shocks right to the deepest part of your core. In a sense though, maybe demons like him had evolved these kinds of things for better energy extraction when they fed.

“J-Johnny-…Ah!!!!”

You couldn’t control the excited sounds you were making. You had never felt anything like this before, not even with the best toys or fucks you could get your hands on. For a creature from hell, his tongue was really sending you to heaven right now.

You don’t know how long it takes you like that before you cum, but you know that you do when the feeling hits it high. You practically scream at the force of it, clamping your legs around the small demon.

You’re left a panting mess as Johnny eagerly laps up the fluids from you. Maybe that was what had the energy in it. Who really knew how demons worked?

“I…I can keep feed you regularly if it’s going to be like that every time.” You find yourself laughing. Because this has been one long day you never expected to have and there was so much that had happened.

“Good. Because I’m still hungry enough for more.”

That was one of the best combat encounters I have ever watched on Critical Role

(CAMPAIGN 3, EPISODE 16, v. SHADE FAM)

Tbh, maybe Top 10. That might not seem high, but think about the total number of combats they’ve had over 3 campaigns to-date. Mind you I really don’t remember them all but this one just like, hit different

Just, to begin with. The number of senses engaged. An enormous psychic slug modded with brumestone underglow, Tokyo Drifting around the nest’s family room. Fearne’s round 1 game-changing moment of pure controller badassery. All the flavor injected into every single interaction, like Ashton straight up yeeting shade creepers about, then basking in the splatter and pain of their explosive demise. Multiple crucial Nat 20’s. The added benefit of 2 Very Cool magical Pinkertons wielding one of the sickest arcane items I have ever heard described in D&D. Fascinating demonstrations of how physical strength doesn’t always rely on the physical bit. Powerful minds being used by/for good and evil. FCG blindly pulling random levers. Drills gone wild. Mid-combat cooler talk. And as it came to a close, the audience’s anticipation of a party absolutely drenched in poisonous slime surfacing like the fucking Ghostbusters and just turning to the foreman and Gus’ ex like, “welp, it turns out you’ve got a bit of a slug problem 🤠🙃”

It was all so well-suited for the party’s abilities, but only because they were clever and made calls that worked, and the dice gods (you, you, not you Laudna, you) mostly smiled upon their efforts. A fight thought to be too hard and nearly avoided, bravely initiated and won through luck and, dare I say, maybe some planning? Fearne emerged as the clear MVP and fully fucking rode the sphere containing Emoth out of the chamber in the end I mean srsly. But Orym with his gnarly rope trick, Ashton serving a slo-mo bludgeon-fest set over blaring punk music (get them a walkman like Star Lord and let’s make this headcanon real, pls thx), Chet tearing himself into a werewolf and lifting an impossibly immense boulder like a mom rage-lifting a car, Imogen discharging every ion of lightning coursing through her and sizzling each creature in its ray of carnage to a crisp… On the whole each member of the party got at least one incredibly cinematic moment of pure anime-style fantasy combat in. And that ultimately may prove to be more transformative for them at this level than them having played it safe or having learned from (what seemed like inevitable) failure, as it will likely increase their confidence in future fights (disclaimer: may lead to a period of cockiness and/or carelessness, followed by a great tragedy that then sets the pendulum swinging back again). More than anything I think Olly and Gus deputizing them as honorary detectives for the Green Sleeves* before they pursued the investigation together is what made such an epic fight possible and really gave them a glimpse of what Tier 2 could be like for them if they keep adventuring once their first arc as a party is finally resolved.

[*Definitely 💯 happened, I’m sure of it & yes I’m also sure it’s Sleeves, Fearne told me]

Not everyone in this fight had a smiley day though. I really felt for poor Laudna/Marisha. Not only did she get boned by bad rolls, but injury was nearly added to insult when we all clenched our butts for the impact of the stinger into her unaware back (did you catch that Shady Mom was physically mocking Laudna right before the stinger swipe.. ??? 😂😂😂 cold ass Slug Shrug, your creepy petty ass really earned that Nat 1 dinnit). I haven’t watched past the end of combat yet but I really hope she doesn’t end up with a negative perspective of what was otherwise a wildly successful mission. Stay strong my twitchy witch, you are cooler than a hellish recuke and you will get your moment in the shadows, just you wait!

cute things i think the genshin characters would do

characters included: diluc, kaeya, venti, and albedo

****minor lore spoilers for diluc!****

an: i’m thinking of making this into a series bc this was such an adorable concept to write so lmk if you’re interested 👀 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

diluc

sorry kind of starting off with something a little sad

i think diluc would have a habit of rubbing his vision

ok seems kinda dumb at first but let me elaborate:

after the death of his father, diluc was quite obviously devastated

he basically withdrew into himself after letting all the grief, pain, and rage flood his senses

i think during this time of grieving, he would’ve developed this habit of running the pads of his fingers across his vision to calm himself down

(v similar to katara from atla)

since his father had always been proud of diluc’s vision, the thought of touching something that reminded him of his father has always been able to bring him some sort of relief no matter how short lived

it serves as a constant memory of his dad and i think being able to have that kind of connection - no matter how small would hold a significance to him

stressed? you’ll see his fingers dance across his vision as the crease between his eyebrows gradually loosens

ok here’s a bonus habit (bc the previous one was sad)

whenever he’s bartending at angel’s share, he always flips the bottles in this cool bartending way before pouring the drinks

like the whole shabang - flips in the air, shakes it in a way that the drink foams just right

people are usually v surprised when they see this bc woah mans has got some sKILLS

but also bc he’s known for being pretty serious and reserved so seeing a “trick” is kind of breaking the stoic image they have of him

after he’s done pouring the drinks he’s also really precise about closing the bottles

he makes sure that the caps are on tightly and that nothing is leaking (which ig is another reason why he does flips with them so he can make sure that the bottles are tightly closed)

yes he’s rich but he also wants to make sure the drinks don’t go bad bc 1) kind of a loss if they do and 2) his customers deserve the best

sweet man pls protect him <3

kaeya

when he’s sitting down at his desk, he brings his legs up so he can sit on his chair criss- cross applesauce

since he’s in his office and the only other person who’s in there with him is jean, he feels like he can drop the suave, charming cavalry captain facade he puts on when he’s in public and just dial it down slightly to who he really is in that moment

jean doesn’t say a word the entire time even tho she quite obviously notices

don’t get me wrong, he’s still the smooth talking kaeya but just,,, more relaxed and comfortable?? if that makes sense

so since he’s a lot more comfortable in his office, he usually folds his legs into his chair bc damn they hurt from walking around all day

this is kinda dumb but i also think he has a lot of ink stains on his hands from writing so whenever he sees a fresh one he just likes to stamp it onto a piece of paper

usually that piece of paper ends up being an unimportant report that goes to jean

dw he also has a bunch of pretty small towels in his bottom drawer that he uses to wipe his hands on bc the public can’t see the pretty cavalry captain w ink stains!! the world would end!!

oH kind of a side note but i also think he would keep a small folded up picture of something klee drew him in his pocket

he thinks it’s very sweet and he periodically takes it out just to look at it soft for this man

last one for kaeya but since he wears boots that have the little lip on the bottom (not really a heel but enough to make some noise) he makes sure to always try his best to walk quietly around the streets of mondstadt at night

if anyone catches him doing it he’ll wave it off and say something like “oh me? i’m just practicing my stealth - it comes in handy when you have to sneak up on enemies you know?” but in reality that’s just bs

he really just doesn’t wanna risk waking people up <3

venti

this adorable man is obviously notorious for drinking

he loves alcohol!! i mean he’s the anemo archon of the city of wine and freedom so is anyone really surprised 💀

anyways venti always jokes abt not having any mora (he really doesn’t he’s not wrong) but he always makes sure to pay his tab at angel’s share

the only reason diluc lets him drink sm is because at the end of the day, venti always comes through w the mora

he really is a talented bard so everything he makes in singing and composing music for other people to listen to always goes straight to angel’s share (debatable if that’s for the best or not but i’ll leave that one to you)

so yeah <3 basically venti pays back his tabs even tho he’s an archon since he doesn’t want people to experience a loss bc of him

it’s the archon nature coming out but also the venti nature bc he’s a sweet boy

anyways getting onto the actual habit 🕺

he has a tendency to skip/hop regardless of wherever he’s going

he uses his anemo elemental skill a lot while doing this just he can feel a light breeze whenever he skips around

i also think he carries around extra bard strings in his hat bc he thinks it’s a cool party trick to take them out and be like tada i have extra strings no need to worry!!!

people are usually not that amused but he does it anyway

also yeah uh those strings sometimes fall out when he’s skipping 💀

he’ll be hopping and suddenly bOOM they fall out, he loses them, a kitten by the name of prince takes them, and he has to ask for help to find his strings (i believe this is exactly how venti lost his strings to prince during the windblume festival and no i will not take any criticism and if venti says something different he is lying 🔪)

also has a habit of putting his hair into a bun sometimes!!!

he loves his pigtails but he finds that he gets bored of them occasionally and his hair needs a break from its wavy tresses so he just plops it into a bun instead

so so cute 10/10 hairstyle he can do my hair

anyways love this man thanks for coming home <3

albedo

i had a feeling i would kind of have a hard time w albedo since he is a little hard to read so i hope this is ok LMFAO

he has paint stains. everywhere. no you cannot change my mind.

they are subtle tho i will give him that

you can’t notice that anything is amiss until you really pay attention and then you’ll start to see the pretty pastels and greens of the sunset he was painting up on dragonspine softly smeared across his clothes

very rarely you’ll see a cute swipe of paint across his cheek or neck and it’s honestly adorable

he was probably pushing his hair out of his face while he was painting and some excess paint on his finger landed on his cheek :,)

he doesn’t really care tbh he thinks it’s just a part of him and it really isn’t that noticeable so he just leaves it

also!!! since he is a big alchemist and he’s constantly working on labs and experiments i think he would accidentally misplace a lot of his written work

he seems very organized but w someone as intellectual as him w his brain running miles a minute, i’m sure he has definitely forgotten where he’s put stuff away

so!! in order to help him remember, he has little notes across his lab detailing where everything is

if he was working on something and he immediately has to put it on hold bc something came up (klee came in demanding attention or sucrose needs help) then he’ll quickly jot down a note and stick it to his desk so he’ll remember when he comes back just in case he forgets

sucrose as a result has noticed A LOT of notes across the lab and it’s simultaneously funny and endearing

“started experiment with sweet flowers to try and turn them into a youth elixir: papers --> on the desk right next to klee’s photo”

final point: he lets klee braid his hair sometimes if she wants to

RFA Members + Haikyuu!! Characters and what costumes they wore for Halloween

RFA Members (+ V and Vanderwood)

Yoosung- Definitely a LOLOL character, probably either his avatar or some other character he thinks is cool

Jumin- A cat onesie designed to look like Elizabeth the 3rd, and you cannot convince me he wouldn’t wear it at least in his penthouse

Jaehee- Didn’t have enough time to pick out or buy a costume, sadly (but you got her a surprise costume that matched with whatever yours was)

Zen- Not the biggest fan of dressing up since he does it all the time for musicals, but would probably run out of time to find a costume and just wear an old costume for some role he played

Saeyoung- Either a cat (because Elly) or a maid (because he likes seeing the shock on peoples’ faces when he tells them he’s not a girl)

V- If he wears a costume, it’s probably either something random put together or something typical, like a ghost or vampire

Vanderwood- A spy. They want to say ‘trick’ and taze people after kids go up to him and say trick or treat vanderwoodyoushouldntdothatyou’regoingtogetarrested

Haikyuu Characters (organized by school)

Karasuno

Hinata- A ghost (or a tangerine to make people laugh)

Kageyama- Just his volleyball uniform, and doesn’t understand why people laugh at him

Tsukishima- One of those dinosaur inflatable costumes that hide your face so you don’t know who it is (but only tells Yamaguchi that he’s going trick-or-treating)

Yamaguchi- Either a lil baby ghost or some other cute, wholesome costume

Daichi- Something super typical, kinda like V (scrool up) when it comes to costumes

Suga- A mermaid because he thought it was cool (but regrets it a little when Nishinoya and Tanaka start teasing him)

Asahi- The other third years tell hi he should go as Jesus and actually does it because he doesn’t want to disappoint them

Nishinoya/Tanaka- Their goddess, Kiyoko

Ennoshita- Nothing. He prefers to just stay at home and eat candy that he bought and actually likes

Kiyoko- A devil, matching costumes with Yachi

Yachi- An angel, felling super blessed that Kiyoko offered to match costumes with her and kinda panics the whole time

Nekoma

Kuroo- A cat. No other explanation needed

Kenma- A streamer/gaming YouTuber (or whatever equivalent there is in the HQ universe), or just stays home and plays games

Yaku- A vampire because he thought the cape included in the costume looked cool (and bites Lev with the plastic fangs when he says the cape is too long for him)

Lev- A giraffe, because Tsukishima said he’ll do the same but bailed on him, leaving a giraffe wandering around their supposed meeting place

Yamamoto- His favorite character from any show to make him feel better about not being close to anyone romantically

Aoba Johsai/Seijoh

Oikawa- A king or Disney prince, possibly an alien if he can find a costume like that

Iwaizumi- Godzilla, if he doesn’t decide to just stay home and watch movies

Hanamaki/Matsukawa- Go as two potatoes, everyone absolutely l o s e s it when they wear the costume to practice the day before (potato costumes are a real thing, i promise)

Kindaichi and Kunimi- Each other, to annoy the other person

Fukurodani

Bokuto- Will 100/10 go as an owl, no one can stop him at this point, he’s in too deep

Akaashi- Will ask the other members of the team what he should wear, and decides from what they say

Rest of the team- Owl squad with Bokuto, he’s the leader bird and they all flap behind him as Akaashi sighs and follows them

Shiratorizawa

Ushijima- The school mascot or a farmer, Tendou cries from laughing as he films someone in a swan fursuit/straw hat and overalls waddling around the school

Tendou- One of his favorite characters from an anime/manga he liked, does poses the majority of the time

Goshiki- Ushijima, in an attempt to impress him and acknowledge him (it doesn’t work)

Semi- Just some old costume that he had from a while ago, examples including a magician and a musician (with an actual instrument)

Shirabu- Doesn’t care about dressing up, Halloween’s just a normal day to him

Date Tech

Aone- Something that was supposed to be cute, but lowkey looks intimidating on him

Futakuchi- Mad hatter from Alice in Wonderland, bc he liked the hat and the idea of confusing people

Koganegawa- Something he made himself (no one has the heart to tell him they can’t tell what it is)

Inarizaki

Kita- A farmer (apologies, manga readers)

Atsumu- Sangwoo because Osamu told him that’s a character a bunch of the people at school like

Osamu- Either doesn’t dress up or goes as onigiri to annoy Atsumu

Suna- A cloud, which he stuffed with blankets and pillows so it looks like a cloud and at the same time is comfy enough to sleep in

ETC

Terushima- Doesn’t wear a costume, but hosts a ridiculously huge Halloween party every year

Sakusa- Nothing, but goes to Teru’s Halloween party for a few seconds to give everyone bottles of hand sanitizer (the little ones), then leaves to have candy and watch movies in the safety and comfort of his own home

Natsu- A crow, since her brother said it’ll be really cool (but he really just wants to show her off to the volleyball team)

Back in LA, May arrived and Emily agreed with her agent to take on a new project. She was trying very hard to re-balance her focus, doing more exercise and reconnecting with friends including Chloe who was now 8 months along in her pregnancy. She and Keanu started the counselling sessions which included some sessions together and some alone. Being able to voice their hopes and fears together helped and airing darker thoughts separately made it less daunting for them both to open up.

Keanu agreed to try to stop smoking or at the very least cut right back and they both agreed to reduce their drinking. Emily also put away the charts, thermometer and ovulation tests. Counselling had let her see these as part of becoming obsessed with getting pregnant and she had shared her fears about that meaning she wasn’t able to be a good partner to Keanu.

At the same time, they also focused more on having some little pleasures to look forward to in between work and whilst they weren’t going to stop trying, they hoped to put it more in the background while they enjoyed themselves on day trips or weekends away. A key thing they had also both agreed on was that sex needed to be about making love not just making a baby.

Some of the weight of worry was off their shoulders and Emily smiled as she packed a bag ready for a long weekend up in Sonoma county at the Lambert Ridge Winery.

Keanu had been there on an Arch owners trip and said it was just the get-away they needed. Yes it was a winery but they weren’t being teetotal so a weekend away there was allowed! She remembered her conversation with Chloe about tricking the fates into allowing her to get pregnant – maybe this trip would work the same way for them as the Hotel George V had for Chloe and John.

The trip has been wonderful. There was a wonderful tasting and education session where they hung out with a tutor and a group of other patrons tasting different wines and learning how to identify different scents and flavours. There was good food, walks in the woods and some mind blowing sex on their last day. They’d basically spent the entire morning on one session, Emily lost count of the orgasms she had from his hands and tongue before he finally fucked her until she had what felt like an out of body experience as she came, his cock filling her and his thumb pulsing on her clit. The labour went right through the day of 7th with slow progress for Chloe. She’d had a C-section for Jamie and was hoping she might be able to deliver naturally this time but it wasn’t to be this time either and she had another section on the morning of 8th delivering a girl they named Rosie. Keanu and Emily were finally able to hand over to John that evening returning home with some take out Chinese to enjoy.

As they lay back on the sofa watching TV, Emily was scrolling through her calendar on her phone when she gasped.

“what?”

“I’m late!” she said

“late?”

She nodded vigorously, “late for my period, at least a week” I haven’t been focused on it what with Chloe’s baby arriving”

“Oh my god, do you have a test here?”

Emily gulped and nodded, going a bit pale.

“well come on, let’s see, Emily this might be what we’ve been waiting for!”

They went to the bathroom and found the test in the cabinet. She sat on the toilet to pee on the stick then set it down face down and Keanu set a timer on his phone, sitting on the edge of the bath while they waited.

The tension was palpable as they waited in silence and they both jumped when the alarm went off.

“Ready?” he asked.

She nodded, picking up the stick and turning it over to reveal two faint blue lines.

“Oh my god, it’s positive – it’s kind of faint though don’t you think?”

“I’ve never seen one before in real life” he said

She giggled

“Me neither, I probably don’t know what I’m talking about!”

“Em, Em we did it, we’re going to have a baby!” he practically shouted, throwing his arms around her. Tears of relief were falling when Emily pulled back to look at him.

“yes we are!”

The next week passed in a daze. Emily made an appointment to see her OBGYN and Keanu seemed to be on cloud 9 as well as super concerned that she was OK. Truth be told Emily didn’t feel well but she couldn’t put her finger on what it was. It wasn’t morning sickness but she just didn’t feel well in herself.

On 15th, Keanu had a script read through in the morning and he left her sleeping in bed. When she woke up she was burning up and confirmed quickly that she was running a temperature. She was unsure what to do, not wanting to take any medication given the pregnancy. She went to the bathroom thinking a cool shower might help. To her horror, when she went to pee, she saw she had some spotting. It was only light and she tried to stay calm but she had a sinking feeling that all wasn’t well.

By lunchtime she’d started to get abdominal pain and a pain in her shoulder. By the time Keanu returned she was bent over the sofa in pain. He took one look at her, his heart thumping a mile a minute and sprung into action to take her straight to hospital.

In the ER they said the symptoms suggested an ectopic pregnancy where the egg gets stuck in the fallopian tube, not making it to the womb and causes extreme pain. This was soon confirmed when the obstetrics specialist arrived to do a scan. Emily was rushed to surgery to remove the baby in the course of which she lost her left fallopian tube.

Keanu was left reeling. They showed him to a private room where he could wait and he called his sister for moral support. Karina came straight there and sat with him until Emily came out of surgery and was moved to a private room.

Keanu sat and held her hand until she came round but she was still very woozy. Not so much that she didn’t know what had happened and she kept saying how sorry she was as the tears flowed for both of them.

The next morning, their doctor came to see them and explained what had happened and what it meant for the future. Their chances were significantly reduced though not by half. Still if it had taken a year to get pregnant with 2 tubes Emily didn’t want to think about how long it might take to achieve another pregnancy.

As they both shed quiet tears, Keanu felt helpless - like all he could do was hold her hand, part of him wishing he’d never asked her if she wanted to go for it after that day at the party.

Back home after she was released from hospital, he tucked her into bed and they lay holding each other, crying until their tears ran dry.

The next morning over breakfast Emily had made a decision.

‘let’s stop, please let’s just stop and go back to how we were, I can’t take it anymore’

‘you wanna go on birth control again?’

‘’yeah, at least for now, I’m too scared of the same thing happening again”

“Ok” he said quiet and sad “OK”

Right so I got this request just as I closed hc requests but I'm gonna do it just for the sake of Halloween sjsjsj

- Ok but he totally l o v e s Halloween. It must be his second favorite holiday after Christmas. He loves all of the decorations and mini games present at Halloween parties.

Not all of the books found in the Spell Archive are well-worn. Today we talk about a bit of an obscure spell that I must admit I myself hadn’t heard of before. I believe this also our very first druids only entry and I’m very excited to find out what sort of potential it holds.

Bones of the Earth

6th-level transmutation

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: 120 feet

Components: V, S

Duration: Instantaneous

You cause up to six pillars of stone to burst from places on the ground that you can see within range. Each pillar is a cylinder that has a diameter of 5 feet and a height of up to 30 feet. The ground where a pillar appears must be wide enough for its diameter, and you can target the ground under a creature if that creature is Medium or smaller. Each pillar has AC 5 and 30 hit points. When reduced to 0 hit points, a pillar crumbles into rubble, which creates an area of difficult terrain with a 10-foot radius that lasts until the rubble is cleared. Each 5-foot-diameter portion of the area requires at least 1 minute to clear by hand.If a pillar is created under a creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be lifted by the pillar. A creature can choose to fail the save.If a pillar is prevented from reaching its full height because of a ceiling or other obstacle, a creature on the pillar takes 6d6 bludgeoning damage and is restrained, pinched between the pillar and the obstacle. The restrained creature can use an action to make a Strength or Dexterity check (the creature’s choice) against the spell’s save DC. On a success, the creature is no longer restrained and must either move off the pillar or fall off it.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, you can create two additional pillars for each slot level above 6th.

Spell Talk

Alright, firs off, I’m kind of surprised there’s not a lot to be found on this spell online. It looks to me like the kind of spell that could turn out to be a multi purpose tool for creative players. The fact that creatures can choose to fail the save to be affected by it makes it obvious that the intent of this spell isn’t simply to damage enemies.

But it isn’t just the creative aspect of the spell that has potential; this transmutation spell already comes with a multitude of useful effects that can be exploited in various circumstances (which we will cover in more detail for our tips and tricks section), but as it is, restraining and causing difficult terrain are nice as is, especially if you’re playing a druid or a ranger.

As much as I like the flavor and possibilities that come with this spell, I do have two minor gripes with it, the first being that, despite the aforementioned possibilities, 6th level just seems a bit too costly for what we get in return, I think the magic number for this one would be around 4th level instead. My second issue with this spell (which only furthers the first) is that 30ft just won’t do the trick on many occasions, it would have been interesting to have the spell function similarly to spells like Wall of Fire where there is a max limit but the construction of the spell is up to you; I feel like this would have worked out nicely with creating different numbers of pillars as well.

Tips and Tricks

As I mentioned previously, the great thing about this spell isthat it can very much be used creatively. Yes, sure, you can also use it to incapacitate your enemies in what’s probably one of the coolest fashions, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

Let’s face it, no one was as cool as Toph.

You could very much use this spell as an easy way to to get over obstacles or even propel yourself (or your friends) to where you want to be like in this gif:

Or if you’re looking for something a little more combat/strategy oriented you could use them as a way to modify combat areas to your advantage; I’m sure the party rogue will be grateful for all the new places they can hide to get their sneak on.

Want to give the casters/ ranger a bird’s eye view while also keeping them away from harm? This could pair very well with feather falling, and is sure to have your enemies waste at least one of their turns to get rid of it.

Reflavors

An interesting idea you could play with is checking to see if your Dungeon Master would allow you to reskin this as other elements; columns of water or pressurized air could make this the perfect spell for druid Genasi.

All in all, although technically not a reflavor, if you’ve ever wanted to play an Earthbender from AtlA, this spell is most definitely a must.

Components: V, S, F (Two hoops, ten feet in diameter, composed of adamantine and skymetal alloys, each worth approximately 100,000 gp), M (ingots of radioactive material), SC (8, up to 80)

Skill Checks: Perform (Pipes) DC 38, 5 successes; Perform (Percussion) DC 38, 4 successes.

Range: 800 miles. Target: The secondary hoop. Duration: Instantaneous; see text Saving Throw: None; Spell Resistance: No

Backlash: The primary caster and all secondary casters take 20d6 Fire damage and 10 points of Constitution drain. Failure: Azathoth emerges from the focus hoop instead.

This ritual can only be performed at night, once every 81 years when the titan that is Azathoth is viewable in the night sky as a distant, disquieting star. The hoops act as the focus of this ritual--one set must be surrounded by the casters, while the other one acts as the target. The second hoop must be placed at the location the caster wishes to call the wrath of Azathoth down upon, surrounded by the ingots of radioactive matter.

This spell does not so much call Azathoth or inspire the Outer God to act as it does merely trick the mindless overgod into believing it’s supposed to be somewhere else. The casters must play piping melodies and relentless drumbeats that imitate the mad chorus that surrounds the Daemon Sultan, the exact compositions of which may require bargains with the Larva of the Outer Gods, as they are exceedingly rare on mortal worlds. The music can be heard coming through the second hoop, which may alert those nearby to its presence, though not its function. Should every discordant note be played exactly, Azathoth hears it through the first ring, and emerges from the second.

A true method to call the entirety of Azathoth has not been discovered (and likely cannot be), and this method is plenty destructive enough. Naught but a single limb of the Daemon Sultan emerges from the ring, and everything within 2000 feet of the ring (”Ground Zero”) is instantly, completely, and irrevocably disintegrated by nuclear force. Only the intervention of a deity may prevent this apocalypse. The destruction radiates outwards in a series of titanic spheres (referred to as Rings), doing the following at each measurement:

Ring One, one mile outside Ground Zero: 1,000 damage. Half of this damage is Fire, the other half divine damage which cannot be reduced or resisted, and creatures in range takes 20 Constitution drain from the ravages of the radiation. .

Ring Two, one mile out from Ring One: 600 damage, divided as above. All creatures in range take 15 Constitution drain.

Ring Three a mile out from Ring Two: 300 damage, divided as above. All creatures in range take 10 Constitution drain.

Ring Four, a mile out from Ring Three: 150 damage, divided as above. All creatures in range take 5 Constitution drain.

Ring Five, a mile out from Ring Four: 50 Fire damage. All creatures in range take 1d4 Constitution drain.

Ring Six, a mile out from Ring Five: 5d10 Fire damage. All creatures in range take 1 Constitution drain.

The damage cannot be avoided, but the Constitution drain can be reduced by half by succeeding a DC 38 Fortitude save. Any creature damaged by the initial explosion is rendered permanently blind and deaf. Any creature within 4 miles of Ring Six must make a Fortitude save (DC 38) or be struck permanently deaf, and any creature within that distance that was facing towards the explosion must also save versus being permanently blind. Creatures within Ring Three, Two, or One that are killed are incinerated to such a degree that even their spirits are destroyed, preventing their resurrection via any act but divine intervention. Creatures in Ring Four or further that are killed are utterly disintegrated and thus are not easily resurrected. Any creature reduced to 0 Constitution by the radiation but who somehow survived the damage is reduced to a withered, ashen husk that is similarly difficult to resurrect, requiring True Resurrection, Wish, or Miracle to do.

Superheated air fills the entire blast radius, dealing 5d10 Fire damage each round for 6 hours, before cooling down to only deal 1d10 Fire damage each round for 1d3 more days. Lethal radiation fills the entire radius, dealing Constitution drain to any unprotected being that enters which increases the closer one gets to the center:

Ring Six: 1 drain every minute.

Ring Five: 1d3 drain every minute.

Ring Four: 1d6 drain every minute.

Ring Three: 1d10 drain every minute.

Ring Two: 1d12 drain every minute.

Ring One: 1 drain every round.

Ground Zero: 4 drain every round.

A successful Fortitude save (DC 30) reduces the drain by half, to a minimum of 0. The radiation lingers for 7 years, dissipating in intensity every year until it’s entirely gone (Ring Six becomes harmless, while Ring Five becomes 1 drain, and Ring Four becomes 1d3 drain, etc). Only eight years after the explosion does the radiation decrease to a level that living creatures can handle with few ill effects.

Using this ritual will obviously draw the ire of many, many beings, and the admiration of comparatively few. Upon using this ritual, there is a 10% chance that the hoop at Ground Zero is not destroyed by the blast and can be recovered and reused if someone has the means, though more likely than not it will be recovered by an outside party and used to mystically track the perpetrators of this abominable act.

10. Your favorite enemy and the enemy you hate the most.

➳I really liked the water dragon from Broken Paths. Chen got to be v useful (and show off a bit with his surface tension trick). I usually picture the setting and events while playing d&d, but I saw this part especially clearly in my head. And, I got a cool staff out of it (with +16 atk!!)

➳The false goddess. Chen has no tolerance for arrogance and entitlement.

21. Have you ever regretted something your character has done?

But really, I nearly always speak ooc for shenanigans or in third person for Chen because it fits him, but I want to try speaking as him maybe. I have like 50 pages of Chen content written but never get to express it.. maybe that will change in Broken Paths 2 :)
