Invading Kumogakure was a more daunting task than Kakashi perceived it to be. When the upper leads wrote it down, filing it no higher than an A-rank, the Hatake anticipated a light challenge with no great risk.
Now, he found himself struggling up on clay shingles, trying to slice his sights through the thickly fogged area below. Intel suggested that their target was being held in a hostage safehouse somewhere beneath the city road, but on foot, Kakashi and his teammate here were too conspicuous; too out of place.
Withholding a choice curse word, he peered back to Rin, his eyes very conveniently evading hers, but still staying near her face. " We'll have to drop lower to get a good view of the outlet, " he said, in a way ,subtly asking her for any suggestions she might have.

Unable to keep his attention on her ( he couldn't explain it; it didn't feel right and a sheepishness crawled up his spine about it ), he turns his head to scope the street once more. No one should be anticipating them, or would they? It made his head spun on how close to caution the two of them should stick.
Rin was here though. It meant that failure should not be high. They had options, they can escape, there were ways out. He spoke these through his mind like a mantra to keep his head cool here and not upset his teammate.
" What would it take for you to use it? " he whispered, " a cast on us or on passersby? What's the area of limitation? "
He fought the bad habit to fidgeting and kept his focus on calculating just how far away they would be from the suggested entryway.
To say that Rin was nervous was an understatement. This was the first time she was outside the village since... well; since Sanbi was sealed into her body. She'd somehow survived after Kakashi had come to her rescue, and after she attempted to get herself killed, terrified that she'd cause the destruction of her entire village and everyone she loved.
Recovering from it had been a struggle. Learning to live with the Sanbi inside of herself had been an even harder hurdle. Training had been frustrating. She had to relearn chakra control from scratch!. However, now that she had started to get the hang of it, the amount of chakra she could use had increased exponentially. It made her feel almost giddy. She wanted to be useful.
Which is why her first mission in months made her nervous. And it was with Kakashi. Kakashi who she'd tried to get to kill her, last time they had been on a mission. She still felt guilty about that. It had Minato who had asked her to think how she'd feel in Kakashi's shoes, afterward, when she couldn't deal with the... awkwardness, to put it mildly.
"Yes," she muttered, crouching on the edge of the roof and peering down to the street. They had already hidden their forehead protectors, but they still looked like ninjas. "I know a genjutsu that could help us with this. It's very mild, like a notice-me-not charm. it would probably pass undetected unless someone's already looking for genjutsu"
Of course, if someone was looking for genjutsu in proximity, it would make them more alert. that was the risk.
