Anyway, just heard a youtuber discuss a story in which two young teens in Australia went to the cinema. This youtuber said, in all ernesty: "This doesn't make sense! They're under the age of 16, they wouldn't have been able to go out by themselves. Who was gonna drive them to the cinema?"

Currently watching: I don't really watch tv anymore either, but on bad health days when I can't get out of bed I watch youtube out of sheer boredom, so either call me kevin or smosh now that I've learned anthony came back and they bought it back and they're making their older-style comedy sketches again. and you suck at cooking and matt rose sometimes too.

Current fic: hhhh I have a list a mile long when I finish writing monsters.

Writing: monsters, I am on the last three chapters, I'm so fucking close to being done and I'm so ready for it, I really need a break. it's still on track to be about 300K when it's finished lmao cry. and then I get to go back to writing nano19 which is still sitting at 569K with no idea how long it'll be when I'm done and I really need a beta(ish) but have no idea how to go about it and hhhhh sobbing forever why do I do this to myself

Iori actually says 無理ゲー which means “impossible game”, thought it was funnier to make it “soulslike” which is a game genre like Dark Souls and the like, notorious for being hard as balls. Last time he referenced puyo puyo, so…

There’s no english word for enoki, but I’m not sure how common it is either on it’s own either in the English language? I just made it enoki mushroom… a bit long but hey atleast gives an image that it’s about shooms.

A disambiguation of Amahiko’s Dad Joke

明日のパラガス　でも買うのは今日

Lit. “asu no paragasu demo kau no wa kyou” -> “Yesterday’s paragas but you’re buying it today!”

“Asu” means yesterday. It’s a joke on how the (as)paragus is from yesterday but you’re buying it today. This has been turned into:

“A spare I guess” even though you still have to buy some!

Amahiko then has a revelation that the “as” in asparagus can be “ass”.

ケツパラガス (assparagus)

He’s just saying words at this point

ケツパラ (asspara / asspare)

アスパラ (aspara / a spare)

Then comes:

バスガス爆発 (lit. bus gas explosion)

This is a Japanese tongue twister “basu gasu bakuhatsu”. Plays off on the rhyme and rhythm with “asuparagasu”. I have tried to find an English tongue twister but it got way too long, bus gas explosion comes nowhere near rhyming in English (outside of bus, which I kept).

Madagascar. Again having a sense of rhyme and rhythm with asparagus in Japanese.

Then is the finisher line:

マダガスカル産のアスパラガスを今日なのに明日ケツパラガスでバスガス爆発

Lit. Asparagus from Madagascar even though you got it today while it’s from yesterday’s assparagus from a bus gas explosion. (Or something like that)

You can see how it’s completely lost in translation, and makes no sense. I restructured the whole sentence, and mostly focused on rhyming rather than tongue twisting, it became:

“Asparagus that’s actually asspargus from Madag-ass-car and there’s a spare I guess in a bus of asparagus”

Madagascar does ruin it a bit, but I wanted to do my best to keep both. (Also can’t think of any other country to disrespect by turning it into an ass pun… I’m sorry, Madagascar.)

All of this gave me extreme agony, it’s the best I could do. Maybe one day I’ll look back at this and go like “Heh, amateur” but I was hellbent on keeping the asparagus in. Like, assparagus? C’mon.

共同通信によると、大手YouTuber事務所の「UUUM（ウーム）」は、2023年5月期に初の赤字を記録したことから、広告関連事業を手がけるフリークアウト・ホールディングスへの身売りを表明した。YouTubeでは再生時間の短い「ショート動画」が人気となっているが、広告単価が低いため通常の動画の収益を補うことができなかった。こうした情勢の変化から2023年5月期の連結純損益は10億円の赤字に達している（共同通信）。 フリークアウトは8月14日からUUUM��対して株式公開買い付け（TOB）を実施、UUUMの創業者で筆頭株主である鎌田和樹会長らがTOBに応じているという。TOBは9月8日まで続き、発行済み株式の65％を上限に最大97億円を投じるとしている。UUMは今後も東証グロース上場を維持、フリークアウト傘下で広告市場への展開やコスト削減を進める予定としている。
