One of the first rap/rock acts, Holland-based Urban Dance Squad, had a US hit in 1990 with “Deeper Shade of Soul”—a song I will always associate with my first car accident, as I was singing along to it when I missed a stop sign and smacked my brand-new 1991 Toyota Tercel into the side of a BMW. The beemer had a tiny scratch; the front end of my tin-can Tercel was totaled. I don’t think I have listened to that song while in motion since. Anyway, this is a promo live EP I picked up for a few bucks last week.
