The Many Faces of Authority
The complicity of nation-states, NGOs and corporations in creating ecological degradation showed itself again recently, when Denmark announced its plans (praised by Greenpeace as a historic event) to phase out oil drilling in the North Sea by 2050.[20] Parallel to their ambitious goals, Denmark builds hundreds of kilometers of new infrastructure for fossil fuels with the European Baltic Pipe project.[21] This project will also connect to Danish sugar factories on Lolland,[22] an industry releasing the second highest Co2 emissions in Denmark,[23] making it clear that Denmark’s ‘green’ ambitions are heavily misrepresented.
Green NGOs like Greenpeace continue to keep inventory on the destruction of nature and bargain the details of destruction with corporations. In 2010 Greenpeace entered an agreement supporting logging companies in the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement[24] and, recently, praised Mærsk – the planet’s largest shipping company and, until 2017,[25] a big player in the oil industry – merely for refusing to ship a specific Antarctic toothfish.[26] NGOs collaborate with state and capital constantly; they are businesses in and of themselves and constantly sell out movements defending forests, rivers and marine ecosystems [R.F. – see Green Capital & Environmental “Leaders” Won’t Save Us].
Promoting a notion of “net zero” emissions and subsequent carbon trading schemes is leading to a major land grab in the Global South. Industrial scale green energies, which increase the total energy market rather than decreasing fossil fuels, also lead to new profits for energy companies and devastate vast sacrifice zones in poor areas. It is no coincidence that all these technocratic solutions proposed by green NGOs are also supported by energy corporations.
The guises of authoritarianism are plenty and its attempts to resolve environmental issues have failed and led to increased degradation. Representative democracy, and other systems based on bureaucratic authority, have taught us change comes through politicians, corporations, NGOs and, of course, personal consumer choice [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.5 pg65]. The underlaying implication of this narrative is that chaotic organizing, viral direct action (and unrestrained) and immediate change in conduct is not the answer.
We need to recognize that authoritarianism and human-centric claims to supremacy over the earth have been and continue to be the root of socio-ecological crisis. This happens via the church, the State, urbanization and modern mechanical science,[27] all of which seek domination and control over the systems of our planet. This is not to say modern science is not useful, but to remember that it comes at a material and energetic cost [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.5 pg33].

New IN THIS MOMENT Song 'I Would Die For You' Featured On 'John Wick: Chapter 4 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'
Lakeshore Records is set to release "John Wick: Chapter 4 - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" digitally March 24 with an original score by Tyler Bates ("John Wick", "Guardians Of The Galaxy"),and Joel J. Richard ("John Wick", "The Andromeda Strain"). Bates and Richard, their scores an integral part of the success of the first three installments of "John Wick", return with another masterclass in high-intensity compositions that feature an array of instruments — including treated piano, mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, harmonica orchestra, synths, and found object percussion. Bates also produced songs performed by Lola Colette with Nick and Sam Wilkerson of the punk band WHITE REAPER on drums and bass respectively, as well as tracks with IN THIS MOMENT and Manon Hollander. In addition, the track co-written and produced by Bates with vocals by avant pop phenomenon and cast member Rina Sawayama, "Eye For An Eye", is available digitally. The Lionsgate film directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Ian McShane is in theaters and IMAX on March 24.
Bates told Entertainment Weekly about his collaboration with IN THIS MOMENT: "'I Would Die For You' is a song that I wrote with Maria Brink and Chris Howorth of IN THIS MOMENT and [also] produced. Chad, literally, out of the blue, called me up, and he's like, 'Yo, Tyler, do you know this singer, I love her, Maria-something, she's in this band, IN THIS…?' I'm like, 'IN THIS MOMENT?' He said, 'Yeah, that's it!' I said, 'I'm actually working on their new record right now. [Laughs] They are real fans of 'John Wick', which is really cool."

Bates regularly transitions from scoring some of the world’s biggest film and television franchises, such as "Guardians Of The Galaxy" and "John Wick", to rocking massive audiences in the world of rock music, and back to the studio again writing and producing records with artists like HEALTH, BUSH, IN THIS MOMENT and STARCRAWLER, to name a few. A few social concerns come to mind when considering the challenges facing Portland and American society in general. These topics are frequently included in conventional and social media and in talking points politicians use to win over voters. An organization or a community’s social structure, institutions, behaviors, norms, and values can substantially change over time. These changes are referred to as social change. Numerous causes may be the driving force behind this natural and continuous process. What is the leading cause of gun violence? Gun violence is more likely to occur in a setting with high unemployment, poverty, and inequality. A difficult financial situation can cause social instability and a rise in crime. Gage-related violence is often a significant contributor to gun violence in many urban areas. Gun violence can be exacerbated by more general systemic problems like racial injustice, resulting in economic inequality and uneven access to opportunity. 
Gun violence is on the rise across the city of Portland.
‘’In 2019, Portland had 389 shootings, according to data from the Portland Police Bureau. Just one year later, that number more than doubled, skyrocketing to almost 900. The violence has continued in 2021. Through May, police have reported 453 shooting incidents. At the current rate, Portland will have more than 1,000 shootings by the end of this year.’’ 
"It's not just a public safety problem, it's also a public health crisis and you have another public health crisis that's laying on top of all of this. That's caused a lot of trauma to our entire society at this point. But you add to that the availability of guns and the willingness of people to use these guns most horrifically and tragically." permit-to-purchase handgun law was associated with a 25% increase in firearms homicide rates. 
It's critical to remember that there isn’t a single, universally applicable strategy to stop gun violence. The best strategy frequently involves several tactics that are each specifically designed to address the requirements and difficulties of a particular community. Political and cultural considerations may also impact how feasible it is to apply these policies in various places. Government, law enforcement, community organizations, and citizens all have a shared duty to prevent gun violence and build safer communities. Advocacy, public support, and knowledge are important factors promoting progress in this field.
Lawmakers can learn lessons from auto safety. To start, they can impose more rigorous requirements for owning firearms. “For the most part, it is much easier to be a legal gun owner in America than it is to be a legal driver,” says David Hemenway, director of the Injury Control Research Center at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Some measures, like Walmart’s lifting its minimum age for purchasing a gun from 18 to 21, may sound good but likely won’t do much to combat gun violence. According to FBI reports, handguns were responsible for 90% of homicides in 2016
A more effective policy would require every buyer, of any age, to obtain a license that includes a registration of all purchases and at least a modest training program. According to the State Firearms Law project, just seven states require a permit to possess a gun of any kind. A 2014 study in the Journal of Urban Health found that Missouri’s 2007 repeal of its permit-to-purchase handgun law was associated with a 25% increase in firearms homicide rates.

Hello book/writing side of tumblr  :)
My name’s Robin (my surname is a pseudonym), I’m 21 for another week, I’m non-binary (any pronouns including neo), and I like writing stuff.
I have multiple WIPs right now in various stages of completion. I tried to open an instagram account, but I found that editing images just isn’t for me and tumblr is a site I’m much more comfortable with.
I’m from Italy, but I speak English fluently, and I usually write in English (with some exceptions). 
I enjoy writing fantasy and horror most of all, and dramatic romance the least, though I enjoy a spot of good healthy romance in my stories. I do not write smut.
My main inspirations, from what I can tell, are The Magnus Archives, The Haunting anthology (Hill House and Bly Manor), and literally anything with some good found family or generational trauma content. I have way too many hobbies and it probably shows.
My current WIPs (temp. titles):
Actively writing:
- unnamed collection of short stories: a collection of ghost stories centering on female ghosts specifically.
- The Tears of a Mermaid: a story about a pirate queen and the mermaid she fell in love with. 
Writing the first draft:
- The Winters Saga, book 1: the first in a series that aims to explore generational trauma through the lens of a family of powerful mages. Sort of urban fantasy, but the magic is normalised in their society; everyone has magic, though some parts of the world stopped using it for a time, and most institutions have adapted to include this factor (i.e. medicine, education, childcare, psychology, etc.)
The first book follows the seven founders of the seven families that will become known as the Great Mages as they break the boundaries of what is commonly accepted, both from themselves and their magic.
- Morsels of Terror: a collection of 31 short stories, intended to represent 31 nightmares, one for every night of the month. There is no real overarching plot as they’re just meant to explore different fears and phobias.
- Il Prato dei Fiori di Carta: my only project written in Italian, another collection of short surreal horror stories with no particular theme.
Outlined:
- In My Dreams: a young girl becomes stuck in her dreams, and the characters that inhabit them try to help her wake up. Unfortunately, they also have to keep her calm, because they are in her mind, and if she is afraid, there’s no telling what could appear.
Idea phase:
- Unnamed WIP: A novel about a fantasy world that exists between one hot pole and one cold pole, each inhabited by a deity, with most citizens living somewhere in the middle. Some populations have evolved to survive hotter or colder areas than the average, and live closer to the deities. The story would follow a pair of siblings who attempt to reconcile the twin deities after they’ve argued (causing natural disasters).

Charcoal and graphite on paper 96 x 60 inches (243.8 x 121.9 cm)
The series is a commentary on the ‘yuppie’, (young urban professional), culture of the 1980s.
I love the detail achieved using graphite and charcoal – even though they are often regarded as ‘simple materials’ they are still effective.
I also appreciate how these works could have easily been achieved through photography, but Robert made the decision to use a medium he thought was best for the series.
How Does it Relate to my Project?
I interpret this series as a critique on the extravagance and restrictive nature of 'yuppie' culture; it reminds me of the expenses associated with dance and could be an interesting avenue to explore.
There is a great sense of movement felt within the images and I could use charcoal and graphite to capture movement when I dance.
It reminds me to think consciously about the mediums I use; what’s best rather than what’s obvious.

The Near-Field Communication Digital Art Biennale aka #nfcdab 2024 edition, coming from Berlin travelled in July to the world metropol Gol (NO). We have finally arrived in Gol, in the frame of Gol-dagan (The Gol Days Festival), July 19 - 21.
Having used the park in the 2018 I was searching for another venue. In the end I chose to just drop the posters on the local skatepark. The result wasn't too bad I thought  😅 - given our preference for ground/street, and for people looking on their phones in the downward direction. I also like that it looks like an accident! An option for similar drops (in the future perhaps) could be to fasten the posters to the ground, with tape/glue/stones for the show to last longer insteading of letting the wind spread the works. Or print out more copies and spread them like big flyers in the streets.
