Getting Insane reading people comparing topaz and aventurine's tragic backstories and somehow taking away "aventurine had it so much worse so xyz" when they're intentionally different examples of how tragedies affect individuals depending on circumstance/culture/just fucking luck. unironically one of my fave things about monhun is farming a monster and coming away from the experience thinking "That is one of THE MOST boring, bland, poorly made hunts in the entire series. I even tried using like 6 different weapons and it still wasn't fun!" and finding out that monster is considered a top 3 ever designed by general consensus but then a monster you could literally farm for a year straight and never get bored is considered bottom 10 of all time.

Unironically because like, we're both right!

Monhun is fucking sick because every monster is a set of rules that feel different to approach depending on what weapon you use, what support items you use, what general playstyle you have, what random niche tactic you like employing, what you value in a hunt, and just 30000% personal stuff you couldn't possibly quantify beyond "I like the it" "I don't like the it"!!

Been meaning to go back and take stock of my "score" on the ongoing @bleach-smashorpass, I've grayed out anything where my personal pick didn't match the popular outcome, and left the ones where I fall into the majority vote in color.

Look, I'll be real, I'm not above monsterfuckery, even if I don't consider it ""my thing"" but I'd have voted smash on Ayon if he didn't have his weird secret muppet face. Also Aaroniero was an extremely light smash, i really had to flip flop on that one a few times before making a choice. I'll be honest, I liked original Chapter25 epilogue Aisslinger way more than what we got in the Arrancar Arc, and if I could split the vote I'd smash original and pass on final design for him.

Bambi is just such a boring design, and honestly Batsuunsai isn't much better, but the glasses are cute. She was really close to being a pass.

I was actually surprised that I had to stop and think about Choe but his giant chin and tiny bowl cut were not doing him any favors. Also as much as I like Cyan as a character, there is just something about hime cuts that are an automatic off switch for me. the rest of these felt fairly obvious.

i feel very scandalized by having voted unpopularly on all these old men... I'll be honest, Gremmy is a very lukewarm smash, and the potential of the Visionary power as a sex thing was very much the deciding factor.

I saw this idea on reddit: What happens if Viserys I marries a Dornish lady instead of Alicent? Cause while Westeros is misogynist it's also racist and probably wouldn't be too keen on the idea of a half Dornish king (Just look at the Blackfyre rebellions) and considering Dornish inheritance laws maybe this Dornish lady wouldn't be too upset at the idea of Rhaenyra inheriting over any sons she might have?

this idea is in line with that "avoid the dance by marrying low/badly/unpopularly" idea. the most popular one is just like "viserys marries a widow" or "viserys has a morganatic marriage" and this might fall under that second one. For example, if he marries an heiress, than her kids would take her last name and inherit her seat, and if he's really clear from the get go about this, I can see a Dornish house viewing this as a good way to get close to the throne, to get relations between Dorne and Westeros to chill out a bit, and also, crucially, to potentially get the chance to claim a dragon. I think especially when you look at the fact that Nymeria remarried after Mors died, this could be a good idea - clearly Nymeria did something right despite marrying and having sons that could contest her daughter by Mors, and if Rhaenyra had a female influence at court that is not actively trying to usurp her from the jump, has experience with hard power and not just soft power that they can teach her, and comes from a culture where women regularly inherit, Rhaenyra is not only just better off on a personal level, but Viserys may not even have to split up his family to stop their fighting, because there's no fighting happening here.

I was trying to think of some ways this could go wrong but...idk, I do think this is probably one of the better shots at avoiding the dance/kicking the dance down the road a few generations. I mean like, yeah, good shot Daemon or Rhaenyra or Corlys just say something super racist and make things tense, but Qoren is similar to Doran in that he doesn't feel the need to start a war he knows he's going to lose, and Qoren is not going to try to upend Rhoynish customs just to get some distant blood on a throne he does not care about and does not fuck with, and a Dornish woman would have a hell of a time trying to whip up support for her kid. Even if half Dornish Aegon still turns out with purple eyes, light skin, and silvery hair and rides a dragon, it's difficult to say whether the lords of Westeros would want to risk a Dornish King on the Iron Throne when Dorne isn't even part of the realm yet. I mean, even the marriage between Daeron/Myriah wasn't enough to get Dorne into the realm - Daeron had to give Maron a Targaryen bride as well as having his own Dornish one!

I think what might be a problem is if Rhaenyra still has bastards (which, she might not!), and Dornish Aegon marries someone important, and that child comes out Targaryen-looking...might be an issue.
