I kinda lied. This is another smaller update, because...
*cries silently*
Ahem - for some reason ClipStudio Paint did not like my old GPU. I fought and struggled with it for a year - sometimes it would display the correct resolution of an image, sometimes not. Brushes were just straight up broken most of the time. Exporting to any format was a nightmare as it wouldn't preserve quality. And forget anti-aliasing. It was either jagged edges or blur.
So when I managed to finally get everything colored and put into Live2D Cubism, it was a fucking mess, to say the least. Small mistakes or lack of quality is amplified a hundredfold in Live2D, and needless to say, with poor quality, incorrectly rendered files coming out of CSP when animated looked like hot flaming pixel garbage.
You can see the difference in the screenshot above, where I've opened the sketch image for Nightmare's sprite redesign from CSP into Medibang. All that shitty blurry worthless detritus is CSP, and the smoother lines drawn over are in Medibang. These two files are the same canvas size (4500 x 7200) and resolution (350ppi). The difference is ridiculous. I have a new GPU in a completely new PC now, and CSP works correctly more often but not always with my new hardware. So I'm abandoning it completely. Which sucks, because I did upgrade to 2.0 EX and paid for it. Waste of money and time.
So what does this mean for the game? It means I have to do all of the sprites over. Again. Which is a huge setback and so, so many hours of work. Each of these sprites, while I only have to do the art once for each, is extremely tedious with a zillion layers per sprite with all the little details and articulated pieces separated out. And then I have to go back into Live2D and re-map these new sprites to the animations, test everything, implement them in Unity, replacing all of those old sprites, reworking the code, testing, testing, and testing some more.
So it's gonna be a minute before I can do that big juicy update I wanna do to show off all the redesigned elements of the game. BUT IT'S GOIN', Y'ALL. Slowly but surely. We're getting it done.
also yes he no longer has the stupid jacket his emo phase is over he grew up and put on an old man sweater you're welcome

so, i started thinking (which is already a dangerous task for me to do at any given time), and it lead to me asking a question: "Why is WxS Kaito in Solid Heart?" and it sent me down such a deep rabbit hole of realisation that i'm going to word vomit everything into this post.
so first, for the unitiated: during the second april fool's day event, the cast of project sekai was stuffed into a single school: the All Music Mikudemy (or just mikudemy from here forward), and organised into four classes, with one from each unit entering each class. cautious heart, with honami, haruka, kohane, tsukasa, and mafuyu; passion heart, with saki, minori, an, rui, and mizuki; solid heart, with shiho, airi, akito, nene, and ena; and pure heart, with ichika, shizuku, toya, emu, and kanade. but one additional part of it is that the virtual singers also got shuffled into these groups, with one from each sekai (two from vbs) entering the four classes: 25ji miku in pure heart, mmj rin in passion heart, vbs len in passion heart, l/n luka in cautious heart, vbs meiko in cautious heart, and wxs kaito in solid heart.
we know it's these specific versions of the virtual singers because of minor design details shown through their live2d models and the way they behave (or, for miku, it's really obvious she's from the empty sekai). rin having the stage sekai ribbon specificially, len wearing the uniform like he does his street sekai jacket, luka's sweater having the same blue accents and her wearing the same locket, meiko wearing the same earrings she does in the street sekai and using the kamiyama uniform's tie, and kaito having the same mustache pin he wears on his wonderland sekai uniform. there's also the fact these six are considered the "initial" virtual singers of each group and were part of the cast of the 2.5 anni virtual singer event. which was probably what decided who would be part of the mikudemy in the first place.
all of this established, i again ask the question at the core of this: Why is WxS Kaito in Solid Heart? the way he behaves aligns far more with the vibes of cautious heart, especially with the fact he's the initial virtual singer of tsukasa's sekai. his controlled, older brother air (if emu's "kaito onii-san" says anything) matches the way tsukasa feels and behaves regarding saki, that's certainly a large part of what formed kaito into the sekai in the first place. he's the leader of the virtual singer theatre troupe, he handles most of the directing for their shows, he functions as the "straight man" to the comedic natures of the wonderland sekai cast. everything kaito is aligns with cautious heart, not solid heart. so Why?
the short, and probably real answer if we assume colopale didn't put a ton of thought into an april fool's event, is that they otherwise wouldn't have a virtual singer for solid heart. none of the chosen cast fits the description of solid heart, most of them significantly worse than kaito does at first glance, and cautious heart already has two of the major "mentor" virtual singers in l/n luka and vbs meiko. the closest to a solid heart rep beyond what they already have would probably be vbs len, but i definitely agree that he's better fit for passion heart, for reasons i'll get into later as i answer the big question (including but not limited to: keeping len with rin).
but i think there's an actual reason behind kaito's solid heart placement, something i discovered by looking through the other virtual singers and why they fit the classes they've been assigned.
first, let's look at luka, meiko, and cautious heart as a whole, since i already have a short (by my standards) description of what makes cautious heart cautious heart on my blog as is, it's just more focused on why tsukasa's in it in particular rather than about the class as a whole. cautious heart is, by description, a grouping of natural leaders that handle those around them with great care and kindness, often to a point it begins to reflect poorly on their mental health (look at honami and mafuyu). all of them come from some level of "talent"—haruka is regarded as a perfect idol, kohane has a natural gift for singing, mafuyu's... entire story—but where this separates from pure heart, who carry the same trait, is the way this impacts their lives, starting in some way negatively. as their talent brings with it expectation, either from themselves (tsukasa and mafuyu) or the world around them (everyone else), and this expectation is something that weighs heavily on these characters. a massive central part of all of their themes is this expectation, the impacts it left in their lives, and how they move forward with this expectation. some of them leave it behind them (mafuyu), some of them chase with the dream of overcoming it (kohane and tsukasa), and some of them completely redefine what these expectations mean (honami and haruka).
if we look at l/n luka and vbs meiko, we can immediately see a couple throughlines to this theming: namely the factor of talent and leadership. luka is the senpai of the school sekai, having knowledge of all four leo/need instruments to a degree that she can reliably teach the members of the band how to improve throughout their entire story, and being the only one to genuinely test shiho's mastery of the bass earlier in the story. the role luka plays in the stories of leo/need's members matches the role honami plays in the relationships of the band, sharing that same unending drive to care and support the others in the group, something especially shown through her roles in Stella After the Rain and Live with Memories. vbs meiko is very much the same way for the street sekai, being the owner and bartender of crase cafe and holding a mentor role for the other virtual singers and members of vivid bad squad. she doesn't step in to assist with improving their singing until vbs get noticeably better, roughly halfway into their journey to surpass rad weekend, because not only does it provide opportunities for the other virtual singers to provide their input, but her teachings exist on a level above what the others offer at first.
both school sekai luka and street sekai meiko stand on a level beyond the other virtual singers in their sekai, and choose to offer their wisdom akin to a parent or a teacher rather than peer-to-peer like many of the other relationships with the virtual singers tend to be. they are leaders within their sekai, even looked to as such by those that made the sekai they're part of. perfect fits for cautious heart.
then there's rin and len. the former is really easy to assign to passion heart; stage sekai rin takes most after minori, if not clear by her being the least experienced of the six and her role in Hear Me! Hopeful Stage and Connected by Painful Hope (performing two different roles for minori and haruka respectively but they're both parallels to minori's own role in the idol group; rin's empathy and understanding for minori's struggle and the extra perspective she gives to haruka that she otherwise wouldn't have considered). everything about mmj rin connects back to minori in some way, and as a passion heart student herself, it was a given that stage sekai rin would be assigned the same class.
but len approaches passion heart from a completely different direction, something that adds a new perspective to the class and their stories. because on the surface, len would be better fit for solid heart: his relationship with akito is one of the core dynamics of the street sekai, he's constantly in competition with street sekai rin, and even to some degree with miku (mirroring the early dynamics between akito and an), and he played a major role in akito's chapter of BREAK DOWN THE WALL. most of the evidence points toward solid heart vbs len, but i believe the part that puts him in passion heart is the fact rin is a given to go there. because rin and len are a pair. they share a number, they're both kagamines, and across every sekai they have a special relationship that works as a motivator for at least one member of the sekai. and out of every group, it's vivid bad squad that puts the most emphasis on the importance of partnership. it's a massively central and unendingly important aspect of its story and the growth of its characters.
street sekai len takes this pairing of rin and len to an extra level, as their relationship is the example of vivid bad squad's partner dynamic. every time conflict arises between the two, it's ultimately born from wanting to be a better partner for the other; something that's directly paralleled across both the bad dogs and the vivids. entire plot points are built from the importance of this dynamic, the fact they are the most important people in each other's lives (not even in a shipping sense, this is just direct storytelling; to deny that fact is to deny the essence of the group itself), and that manifests itself into the dynamic of rin and len. a pair of virtual singers whose relationship transcends sekai. no matter the circumstance, no matter the personality they're given, they are partners.
and when you look at passion heart through this perspective, you can immediately see a pattern: every member of passion heart strives to embody a certain light they were given. saki with tsukasa, minori with haruka, an with nagi, rui with tom gray, mizuki with yuuki. and, within their own groups, their stories develop their characters through their relationships with others, having entire events around a particular, vitally important person: saki's Parallel Harmonies with ichika, minori's entire dynamic with haruka, an's entire arc from Bout for Beside You to Whip the Wimp Girl!!, rui's relationship with tsukasa after the main story, and mizuki's My Footprints, Your Destination and Our Escape For Survival for ena and mafuyu respectively.
passion heart is built around its relationships, the importance other people play in their lives and growth. to not include the inseparable pair of rin and len in that class would simply be a mistake.
this brings us back around to kaito and solid heart. what about wonderland sekai kaito connects him to the themes of solid heart? well, if school luka and street meiko are cautious heart students at the ends of their journeys, and street len is a new perspective on the meaning of passion heart, i think wonderland kaito is meant to be both of these things. because kaito is the solid heart connection to cautious heart, a representation of what they're capable of by embodying a class solid heart often envies.
wonderland kaito pulls a lot from tsukasa's character (obviously so, as a manifestation of his emotions), and tsukasa's story, despite himself being cautious heart, reflects the themes of solid heart. specifically the events On the Stage of Dazzling Light and Towards the Phoenix at the Sky's Edge. stories about tsukasa's struggle to perform as the actor he wants to be, the latter specifically putting him in a position of intense longing for a goal he feels is lifetimes away from him. yes, both of these are for the sake of the character he's playing, but that reflects perfectly in the stories of solid heart, who put their all into their work to achieve the goals they've set out for themselves, and will put themselves through the most difficult climbs just to reach the top of the cliffside. if the way his story presents itself wasn't better fit for cautious heart, and nene wasn't already a perfect solid heart student, tsukasa would be solid heart. and kaito, carrying such a major piece of tsukasa: his dedication to his craft, is the solid heart within tsukasa. the drive to grow, the will to keep pushing no matter the challenge, the willingness to try anything that might lead to success, even if they get hurt in the process. yes, he acts more like cautious heart, but that's the point.
shiho has always been an odd one when it comes to solid heart's themes. yes, they act like a member of solid heart (all the way down to the common mischaracterisation of them being an asshole, a universal trait of solid heart characters), but their story has always worked in contrast to the rest of solid heart. solid heart characters come from a position of inferiority, feeling the need to overcompensate and push themselves to their limits in order to "keep up" with the rest of their groups' capabilities. shiho has never had this struggle; they've always been skilled, the most experienced member of the band. shiho has an entire event, Don't Lose Faith!, that has ichika confront them about the fact they hold back to not outshine the other band members, so they don't glow too bright and take the glory for themselves. it's the opposite of what solid heart has always needed to do. because shiho, like kaito represents, is already there. their drive was uninhibited by their environment, save for the struggle to find a band they can participate in. their actual ability as a musician has never been hampered by the world, while the rest of solid heart run off the belief they're worse than their group because that's what the world has told them, directly or indirectly. shiho is the sunlight that solid heart is capable of achieving.
so wonderland kaito, much like shiho represents, is an embodiment of what solid heart can do with their determination to grow despite the challenges. because they look up to the cautious heart students, they're envious of their skills and talents. but kaito is the proof that they can be that.
that, i think, is why kaito is solid heart. the virtual singers are representations of these characters' feelings and aspirations, and wonderland kaito serves as an embodiment of the goals of solid heart. their mission to be like the cautious heart students that seem to have everything together. kaito shows them that it's possible by being like cautious heart but still solid heart.

Hi! Im starting to figure out how to extract the live2d's from twst myself, and I only got as far as being able to view them & play around with them. I was wondering if you could share what program you're using to export their frames/models as transparent pngs? I cant find anything about it on alchemivich's blog, but I might not of been looking far enough
Awesome!! Try loading them into Unity and capture them using Unity Recorder! I'm really sorry, though. As stated before I really don't have the time/energy to pour too much into explaining the How To 🥺 It is quite a process, and I am not great with typing out stuff comprehensively to begin with (nor am I probably doing this the right way, tbh. I still have lots to learn). That said, I'll post these questions, and if anyone wants to help in the replies that's more than welcome, but I hope you understand that this blog really is mostly for posting assets myself.

「viRtua canm0m」 Project :: 002 - driving a vtuber
That about wraps up my series on the technical details on uploading my brain. Get a good clean scan and you won't need to do much work. As for the rest, well, you know, everyone's been talking about uploads since the MMAcevedo experiment, but honestly so much is still a black box right now it's hard to say anything definitive. Nobody wants to hear more upload qualia discourse, do they?
On the other hand, vtubing is a lot easier to get to grips with! And more importantly, actually real. So let's talk details!
Vtubing is, at the most abstract level, a kind of puppetry using video tracking software and livestreaming. Alternatively, you could compare it to realtime mocap animation. Someone at Polygon did a surprisingly decent overview of the scene if you're unfamiliar.
Generally speaking: you need a model, and you need tracking of some sort, and a program that takes the tracking data and applies it to a skeleton to render a skinned mesh in real time.
Remarkably, there are a lot of quite high-quality vtubing tools available as open source. And I'm lucky enough to know a vtuber who is very generous in pointing me in the right direction (shoutout to Yuri Heart, she's about to embark on something very special for her end of year streams so I highly encourage you to tune in tonight!).
For anime-style vtubing, there are two main types, termed '2D' and 3D'. 2D vtubing involves taking a static illustration and cutting it up to pieces which can be animated through warping and replacement - the results can look pretty '3D', but they're not using 3D graphics techniques, it's closer to the kind of cutout animation used in gacha games. The main tool used is Live2D, which is proprietary with a limited free version. Other alternatives with free/paid models include PrPrLive and VTube studio. FaceRig (no longer available) and Animaze (proprietary) also support Live2D models. I have a very cute 2D vtuber avatar created by @xrafstar for use in PrPrLive, and I definitely want to include some aspects of her design in the new 3D character I'm working on.
Tumblr media
For 3D anime-style vtubing, the most commonly used software is probably VSeeFace, which is built on Unity and renders the VRM format. VRM is an open standard that extends the GLTF file format for 3D models, adding support for a cel shading material and defining a specific skeleton format.
It's incredibly easy to get a pretty decent looking VRM model using the software VRoid Studio, essentially a videogame character creator whose anime-styled models can be customised using lots of sliders, hair pieces, etc., which appears to be owned by Pixiv. The program includes basic texture-painting tools, and the facility to load in new models, but ultimately the way to go for a more custom model is to use the VRM import/export plugin in Blender.
But first, let's have a look at the software which will display our model.
Tumblr media
meet viRtua canm0m v0.0.5, a very basic design. her clothes don't match very well at all.
VSeeFace offers a decent set of parameters and honestly got quite nice tracking out of the box. You can also receive face tracking data from the ARKit protocol from a connected iPhone, get hand tracking data from a Leap Motion, or disable its internal tracking and pipe in another application using the VMC protocol.
If you want more control, another Unity-based program called VNyan offers more fine-grained adjustment, as well as a kind of node-graph based programming system for doing things like spawning physics objects or modifying the model when triggered by Twitch etc. They've also implemented experimental hand tracking for webcams, although it doesn't work very well so far. This pointing shot took forever to get:
Tumblr media
<kayfabe>Obviously I'll be hooking it up to use the output of the simulated brain upload rather than a webcam.</kayfabe>
To get good hand tracking you basically need some kit - most likely a Leap Motion (1 or 2), which costs about £120 new. It's essentially a small pair of IR cameras designed to measure depth, which can be placed on a necklace, on your desk or on your monitor. I assume from there they use some kind of neural network to estimate your hand positions. I got to have a go on one of these recently and the tracking was generally very clean - better than what the Quest 2/3 can do. So I'm planning to get one of those, more on that when I have one.
Essentially, the tracker feeds a bunch of floating point numbers in to the display software at every tick, and the display software is responsible for blending all these different influences and applying it to the skinned mesh. For example, a parameter might be something like eyeLookInLeft. VNyan uses the Apple ARKit parameters internally, and you can see the full list of ARKit blendshapes here.
To apply tracking data, the software needs a model whose rig it can understand. This is defined in the VRM spec, which tells you exactly which bones must be present in the rig and how they should be oriented in a T-pose. The skeleton is generally speaking pretty simple: you have shoulder bones but no roll bones in the arm; individual finger joint bones; 2-3 chest bones; no separate toes; 5 head bones (including neck). Except for the hands, it's on the low end of game rig complexity.
Expressions are handled using GLTF morph targets, also known as blend shapes or (in Blender) shape keys. Each one essentially a set of displacement values for the mesh vertices. The spec defines five default expressions (happy, angry, sad, relaxed, surprised), five vowel mouth shapes for lip sync, blinks, and shapes for pointing the eyes in different directions (if you wanna do it this way rather than with bones). You can also define custom expressions.
Tumblr media
This viRtua canm0m's teeth are clipping through her jaw...
By default, the face-tracking generally tries to estimate whether you qualify as meeting one of these expressions. For example, if I open my mouth wide it triggers the 'surprised' expression where the character opens her mouth super wide and her pupils get tiny.
You can calibrate the expressions that trigger this effect in VSeeFace by pulling funny faces at the computer to demonstrate each expression (it's kinda black-box); in VNyan, you can set it to trigger the expressions based on certain combinations of ARKit inputs.
For more complex expressions in VNyan, you need to sculpt blendshapes for the various ARKit blendshapes. These are not generated by default in VRoid Studio so that will be a bit of work.
You can apply various kinds of post-processing to the tracking data, e.g. adjusting blending weights based on input values or applying moving-average smoothing (though this noticeably increases the lag between your movements and the model), restricting the model's range of movement in various ways, applying IK to plant the feet, and similar.
On top of the skeleton bones, you can add any number of 'spring bones' which are given a physics simulation. These are used to, for example, have hair swing naturally when you move, or, yes, make your boobs jiggle. Spring bones give you a natural overshoot and settle, and they're going to be quite important to creating a model that feels alive, I think.
Next up we are gonna crack open the VRoid Studio model in Blender and look into its topology, weight painting, and shaders. GLTF defines standard PBR metallicity-roughness-normals shaders in its spec, but leaves the actual shader up to the application. VRM adds a custom toon shader, which blends between two colour maps based on the Lambertian shading, and this is going to be quite interesting to take apart.
Tumblr media
The MToon shader is pretty solid, but ultimately I think I want to create custom shaders for my character. Shaders are something I specialise in at work, and I think it would be a great way to give her more of a unique identity. This will mean going beyond the VRM format, and I'll be looking into using the VNyan SDK to build on top of that.
More soon, watch this space!

Hey there! I am currently trying to make an adventure game/dating sim and am currently drawing the characters. I love how you animate your characters (as if they are breathing, flowing and expressions changing)! I was wondering what you use to animation them? Is it the animator tool in Unity? Or is it something like spine or puppet2D?
Hi Anon, I use Live2D along with Naninovel on Unity! I hope this helps. Live 2D is a great software which is also incredibly easy to learn with lots of tutorials everywhere, so I recommend it %100! Good luck with your game! 💜

Design My OC
I’ve been thinking about how to make my OC (Original Character) for a long time.
I will rig it by Live2D if it will be completed someday.
And I wanna make some videos with it though I don’t know I wanna become a Vtuber.
Anyway here is some motif that I wanna add to my OC.
Rose
Long curly hair in pink
Then the design that I drew one year ago is here.
Tumblr media
I didn’t decide the color of eyes first.
Actually, I wanted to color them in brown, but I wouldn’t.
Because green gives a sense of color unity in the design.
The reason why is green is same color of the leaves of roses.
So then I decided my OC’s eyes are green.
By the way, I don’t dislike this design but it looks too many frills and too dressy, I feel.
I’m not ladylike actually, haha.
Then I tried to make 3D model by VRoid Studio instead of 2D model.
https://twitter.com/mihayuuno/status/1668937312703741952?s=20
Tumblr media
How is it?
I think it looks kinda cute, doesn’t it?
Tumblr media
For the outfit, it’s a default materials but added a little editting.
The name Miha and pattern of roses are added on some parts.
Tumblr media
VRoid model can be changed outfits easily, so I made Yukata, too.
https://twitter.com/mihayuuno/status/1676163229767327744?s=20
It looks like summer!
I admire VRoid Studio because it’s free and easy to make 3D model.
Here is a article I wrote that how to make VRoid model.
Though it’s in Japanese, I’m glad you would like to read it!
https://www.fanbox.cc/manage/posts/6158899
Now, I’m making 2D model based on the 3D model.
Usually, most people would make 2D model before 3D model...
Hair and face are decided like 3D model, and the problem is the design of outfit.
I’ve been thinking about the outfit for a long long time.
These are the designs that I drew for the time being.
Tumblr media
1. like Marie-Antoinette
2. like gardener
3. like detective
4. arranged the VRoid model
Ummm, 2 or 4 is better?
For 2, I drew the illustration before.
Tumblr media
For 3, I use it for my icons on some SNS.
Tumblr media
Which one do you like?
Or what design do you want for your OC if you make it?
Can you come up with it quickly?
I’ve been thinking about it a few years.
It’s too long, isn’t it?
I’m gonna show you the complete design if it will be finished.
I will try to draw the design of outfit first!
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for reading my blog! Take care💕

I never thought know how to be a vtuber would be so hard. I just went: oh! I know to draw let's make my silly ocs onto cool vtubers.
I had to learn about 3D animation and basic programing.
In the spam of 3 days I had to learnt about:
-3D programas (Blender, Unity, UniVRM),
-Stream programs (OBS/Twitch Studio)
-Vtuber making programs (Vroid, Blender or learning how to draw in separate pieces)
-Rigging programs (Live2D cubism for 2D, Nebplug + Unity or Hanatool for 3D)
-Face capturing programs/ something that allows your character to move with your face (VSeeFace, VMagicMirror, VtubeStudio, 3tene, combining them with iPhone/android face id recognition for better use but idk at this point)
-Softwares for Vtuber and twitch interaction (VNyan and Tifa)
-Software for PNG vtubers (VMini and PNGtuber plus), because setting all that was not enough and I don't even know if the 3D vtuber it's even gonna work on live.
I AM TIRED
Anyway look at my progress
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Curious how my vtuber it's also having a bad time.
I'm sorry budy, at least you don't have to make 52 blendshapes, but I will keep throwing pies at your face 100%

hey there! list five things that make you happy, then put this is the askbox of the last ten people who reblogged something from you! spread the happiness and positivity <3
It's my 1st ask game !! So 5 things that makes me happy : 1 - Eating good food. Sweets and patisseries are my favorite ;w; 2 - Talking to my friends. I talk to them on vc almost daily and it's always very cool to spend time with them ♥♥♥ 3 - Creating and discovering new things. I've been trying to make and rig a 3D model on blender and I'll animate it on unity to use it on VRChat, it's a long process but have been satisfying !! Before I did VTuber model on Live2d + Vtube Studio, drawing and animating them ! And each and every time I try to add new stuff I didn't do on a previous model èwé9 4 - Reading fanfics and books. Last one I read is Owl's moving Castle in french ♥ I think I finished it in 5 days top, it was very good !!! 5 - Petting Chocolatine. She's my old cat, she's VERY cuddly and gentle, sometime waking me with her paw touching my nose gently for pets. She's super chill and nice too, you can almost do anything with her, she tolerate being held like a baby for some time and just ask to be let down gently, looking at the ground xD

Working on a VRoid vtuber is great! Only it's basically the Linux of vtubing and so giving suggestions/support is really tricky?
Because okay, for PNGtubers, you've got your art + a choice of three programs for tracking (HONK, Veadotube, PNG+).
Live2D or Inochi 2D based vtubers, you've got the art, rigging, + three programs again to choose from for tracking (VTube Studio, Inochi Session, nizima Live, and maybe VBridger on top).
VRoid vtubers have:
A minimum of four ways to build a model, whether by yourself or from a modeler (VRoid Studio, VRoid + Booth ready made options, VRoid + Blender/Unity hybrid, fully made in Blender/Unity)
Six actively updating program options for tracking off the top of my head (VSeeFace, Webcam Motion Capture, Kalidoface, Warudo, VNyan, and VMagicMirror, and SnekStudio's in progress)
And you can use two at once in some cases like VSeeFace + WCMC or VSeeFace + VNyan to get arm tracking or other effects
And that's not including motion capture options and/or end of life/abandonware situations like Vpuppr and Luppet
And we haven't even dug into support tools for extra blendshapes/expressions like Hana Tool and ReForge Mode's shop
And not all those options will work great for everyone, or in every situation? Like I run VSeeFace because it tracks best for me in low light, but I know of tons of folks who adore VNyan and I can't get it to work right for my model. (And I have tried so, so many things. I don't know what's going on at this point besides chaos.)
The biggest benefit is that the price for a DIY VRoid model is great, my model cost me ~$40 out of pocket (and would have been ~$7 if I hadn't been scared of Hana Tool), and you have just a ton of ways to customize things. But I also feel like that maze of options can be super overwhelming so I get it's not for everyone ^^;

SSP1.... sorry.
SEE I TOLD YOU ID BE BACK W THIS..... IM SO SORRY....
ok well it turns out I forget stuff way too easily um. so I actually made a mind map of stuff to work on from the last game from project 04 in ESP and yeah. no wonder i got the research done so fast it was so detailed asw and I FORGOT ABOUT ITTTT ok here it is fgjdhkd
Tumblr media
mind map. literal lifesaver. that i FORGOT ABOUT.
ok anwyay so I honestly had soooo much stuff to work on, like firstly I had to figure out if I even wanted to do a game now because of how insanely painful it was last time.... but ofc as you can so clearly tell, I LOVE to torture myself. so. yknow. that didn't last long, though I did do some really stupid sketches of comics (I will post these later I very stupidly forgot my sketchbook at home. erm. yeah. anyway.
the next thing I kinda looked into was the story. "kinda" I wrote up 4 different storylines. actually those will get a post of their own each bevause I consider myself a genius lowkey for the things I do with evil/toxic/tragic lesbians in my brain (God I love my OCs)
then I went on to actually look into the technical aspects of how I was going to make the game now. Honestly, I'd basically given up all hope on ren'py, so I actually decided I wanted to use unity and make my own setup for the vn on there. I found a really good set of tutorials on youtube, I'll make a playlist of those and link them in a seperate post too!
Along with this, I began to look into how I would elevate the artwork of my game- at this point I was still in the old style, using the old sprites and visuals, so I wanted to see if I could perhaps rig the character models on live2d! I actually spent quite a while learning how to rig 2d images on there, but then opted not to go down that path because I genuinely just wouldn't have time for that. That being said, it did help me a lot when I did end up changing the artstyle of the game to simplify my character designs, as that was something I had to get used to when drawing to rig.
This was hoenstly such a great starting point for me because I ended up doing SO much research and it rly helped my game blossom!!!

システム班・・・・・Live2D(cubism)・Unityの勉強

Rick and Morty: A Way Back Home is best erogame don't @ me.
I'm not putting in screenshots or overtly spoiling the "elements" of this game, but I'll talk a little bit about it.
This parody erogame from Ferdafs follows Morty as he is dumped in another dimension by his Rick in an effort for him to gain confidence, but as he settles himself in the place of that dimension's Morty, he learns that having "encounters" with other girls is what is apparently making him gain that confidence, so he continues doing so in the eventual hope that his Rick will come back for him. In addition to Beth, Summer and Jerry, Morty is joined by a Rick exiled from another dimension and his Morty, a female one named Morticia (from the Pocket Mortys mobile game).
Throughout the game, Morty also has encounters with other girls such as Tricia Lange, Jessica, Reka (a background character whose name was revealed to be Grace Smith in the Rick and Morty Character Guide), Nancy, Jerry's girlfriend Kiara, Unity, the Gazorpians, a female Rick and even Planetina (an update literally had a full adaptation of that episode as her route). Later, he is also joined by Wild Summer from a Cronenberged dimension and Space Beth.
I like how this game replicates the art style of the original show, but there are some clothing-related continuity errors in some scenes if you know what I mean. In the five years this game has been released, there are so many scenes and routes that Ferdafs probably forgot to address the main arc of the story, which is Morty going home to his dimension. It has been briefly addressed in recent updates, but nothing significant has come of it as of yet.
This game was built in Unity and it uses a sandbox VN format that involves progressing in routes by going to different locations and earning money (by working for Rick) that is only useful for buying story-related items from the Devil's shop. A fan known as Night Mirror has created a remake of the game in Ren'Py called Another Way Home, eliminating the sandbox format and combining all the routes into a linear story while also expanding on scenes and creating original ones as well. For example, the Halloween party event adds Morticia in the Ren'Py version, with her and Morty being dressed as Mabel and Dipper from Gravity Falls, whereas in the Unity version, Morticia is not seen at the party and Morty is merely wearing a Vindicator vest. The animations were made using Live2D in the Unity game, but they were screen recorded into .webm files in Ren'Py due to lacking native support on Mac and Android.
So why am I making a post about this particular erogame? Because Ferdafs has recently gone AWOL with no updates since May. Updates used to come out monthly, then bi-monthly and now, every three months. Last year however, Ferdafs was apparently undergoing arm surgery and making a recovery, but it's been nearly a year since then and updates to the game were released even if they were three months apart. If Ferdafs doesn't make an announcement by November, then Night Mirror is slated to begin the endgame of the Ren'Py version, though if Ferdafs does make new content then the endgame will presumably be deferred. Let's just hope we get something at some point.
