Hey crocheters, specifically newer pattern makers, but this goes for everyone. When creating a pattern, especially for the written portion, it is in your best interest to look up the terminology and shorthand used in most patterns. I understand that terminology is different in places (see UK vs US). However if you have to start your pattern off when an abbreviation list that looks absolutely like you just grabbed the alphabet and threw it at the screen, you will hear my screaming and cursing your name no matter where you live.

What better way to get started properly here than to share my favourite ever live music moment! Crocheted dinosaurs for Oli and Alissa to give to him on the UK tour. London night two, he spots them from the stage during my favourite song and with the help of some other fans, they get to him on the stage and he tucks them into his trousers for the rest of the song 🖤

Update on where I'm at in terms of trying to crochet judaica:

I have made my first ever magic ring. This will, specifically, become a bag made for shabbos. I'm tired of carrying my tanakh and placing it in the basement of the shul so I won't lose it. The pattern will make for a round base and a mesh body :3

Now that I know how to make a magic ring, I'll start - maybe - making kippot. Look at the gorgeous yarn I picked up today for that purpose!!! I'm hoping this weight will be much better suited for kippot-making purposes (it's a weight three yarn, which is the thinnest they had for cotton that wasn't thread):

Hi all, we are a small UK East of England based business of 2-3 people, one crocheter & one cross stitcher & sometimes a gardener joins us to sell succulents. We aim to be online between 12:00 - 16:30 GMT on Monday - Fridays each week although we may be able to reply outside those hours, it is unlikely as we mostly use one delicate table for work that gets turned off at 17:00 so we don't have fast access to anything but the email past working hours.

We use stuffing made from recycled plastic bottles and yarn scraps to stuff our toys and left over plastic canvas cut offs as beans for weighted toys to keep waste as low as possible. We are planning on eventually making our own paper so that we can use up as much home waste like newspapers and old boxes too but we're not quite there yet.

I have no idea if anyone is interested but

I’m currently attempting to crochet the banner for the Golden Deer house in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Here’s how it’s doin so far:

I’ve spent 2.5hrs on it so far today and I think I managed to get about ~6-7 rows done in that time? It’s taking a While lol

It’s based off a cross-stitch pattern I bought off someone on Etsy. I don’t cross-stitch (tho honestly I would not be adverse to learning someday lol. I just didn’t wanna buy a whole bunch of new supplies again) so I decided to adapt it for crochet (with… some difficulty. Fun fact: cross-stitch has half-stitches. Crochet doesn’t).

I’m over halfway for the main design (the actual deer part) now. I still have to do the borders (and the bottom border is zig-zagged so… wish me luck tryna work out how tf ima do that lol). I have also yet to go back in and add the face + fur detailing but that’s a problem for future me (have fun me! :) )

(Also yes I am aware that the colours are a lil off. I did my best lol. I’m going for “recognisable” rather than “picture-perfect”).

But anyways. I’m still proud of it :)
