You better be ready for all the coach crotch madness of football during these holidays lol
That's gonna be easy, man... lol! I DVR TCU, UNC, Tulsa, UK, LSU, PITT, and UCLA, and then PVR the parts with the coaches in them. That's 7 teams 12 games a season that average around 3 hours, a few bowl games are nothing. lol (I also DVR then PVR the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs) I'm used to the madness. 😉

A sporting account… on Tumblr?
Bit of an experiment, this. Hopefully not a mistake.
Hello. I’m Rafael. I play boccia, which is a Paralympic sport (e.g., a sport which is in the Paralympics, like goalball, wheelchair rugby, etc). It’s a cousin of pétanque, lawn bowls, curling, and all those other sports whose ancient ancestor is someone going “I bet I can get my rock closer to that pebble over there than you can get yours”. Boccia is played indoors, in a space almost exactly the same size as a badminton court, as individuals, in pairs, or teams of 3. In the UK the overwhelming emphasis is on individual play, although pairs and teams competition is growing in global significance.
I’m a member of the newly reformed England squad, run by our governing body Boccia England, and I’m classified as a BC3 athlete - that means that instead of throwing or kicking the balls, we roll them down a ramp instead. The ramp is positioned, and balls set up on it for us, by a Ramp Operator - for me, that’s either one of my personal assistants, or increasingly, my partner. The RO isn’t allowed to see what’s going on on the court, they have to keep their back to it at all times during matchplay - they’re only allowed to physically help, not tactically help.
Playing boccia changed my life - I’ve always been a competitive person but until I discovered the sport in 2012, aged 27, had not only no access to participate in sports but no idea that a sport I could meaningfully play even existed. My sporting career is a direct legacy of the 2012 London Paralympics; it was the presentation of the Boccia UK Squad at the opening ceremony which resulted in the penny dropping. I was at my first club session within a few weeks, and attended my first competition a few weeks after that - I won a bronze medal, and was hooked.
My breakout year was the 2018-2019 season; our last complete season before the pandemic brought everything to a screeching halt. That year I zoomed my way through the Heathcoat Cup national finals - our ‘second division’ competition, a precious space for beginner and improving players to learn their trade without getting steamrollered by the pros - which qualified me directly into the BE Cup Finals, which is the de facto England national championship. I won my pool, unbeaten, and ultimately came 4th, which saw me begin the 2019-2020 season ranked 5th in England, behind two international athletes and two England players.
After that came a funny couple of years; half a season and two bronze medals in BE Cup Qualifiers before the pandemic stopped everything, and then a heavily modified “Back to Boccia” season for 2021-2022, at which I won the gold medal at two of the three Back To Boccia Cup events, went and won the qualifying tournament for the German National Boccia Championships in Düsseldorf - broadening my horizons as a dual national - before being selected for my very first Boccia UK Challenger. The Challengers are events run by BUK to provide the UK national squad, and selected others from the home countries, with additional formal competition experience. At the Gloucester Challenger there were 4 Boccia UK-supported athletes; two men from the World Class Programme and two women being supported in their development with coaching and world-class equipment, including Paralympian Scott McCowan, who had come 4th in Tokyo just nine months earlier. I beat all four UK athletes, and ultimately came second to my England colleague Matt Berry. That silver medal is my greatest achievement, to date. Matt and I followed that up with another one-two finish at the special, pandemic-edition competition run within the talent pathway as a substitute for the England national championships, which resulted in my being selected for my very first UK National Championships, where I lost only to the two McCowan brothers, Paralympians both, and ultimately came 6th. Just a fortnight later I was in Berlin, where I won the silver medal in the German National Championships.
I’ve just kicked off the 2022-2023 season with a very solid 5th place at the first BE Cup qualifier competition, and I’m off up to the SMILE Boccia Open tomorrow, to train up a shiny new personal assistant as a ramp operator. Wish us luck!

Competitions, Comebacks, and a Coronation: 5 Things to be excited about in 2023
Tumblr media
Deciding that two years of dragging ourselves through a pandemic wasn’t enough, the year 2022 said: "Hold my beer" and gave us the war in Ukraine, a cost of living crisis, more strikes than my ten-pin bowling game will ever see, and of course, the tragic death of Queen Elizabeth II.
We did get to enjoy the Lionesses brought football home at least. However, it is easy to feel cynical in times like these, but don’t despair.
Let's challenge the doom and gloom of the world with five things we should be excited about in 2023.
1. Peter Kay’s Tour Continues.  After his emotional return to the stage in early December of 2022, the creator and star of Phoenix Nights and Carpool, will continue his tour of the UK. He will begin the New year at Liverpool M&S Bank Arena before visiting other cities, including Glasgow, Belfast, London, and many more.
Although tickets have been difficult to buy, do not fret, maybe you can get tickets for his shows in the Year 3000. I’m sure Busted mentioned it in their 2002 hit.
2. Eurovision comes to Liverpool. Sam Ryder’s Spaceman saw the UK finish in its best position since 1998 (Imaani - Where are you?). The UK finish second for a record 16th time, losing out to Ukraine. The winners usually host the following year’s events, but with the current war in Ukraine, the UK has been honored to host in 2023. Enter Liverpool. After putting forward a strong bid, Liverpool, the home of The Beatles was selected as the city to host the event in May.
Allez Allez Allez for the UK Entry?
3. King Charles III Coronation In September 2022 the UK was in national mourning after the death of Queen Elizabeth !!, thus bringing her glorious reign, which spanned over seven decades, to an end. This means King Charles has taken the reins and his coronation, with Camilla as Queen Consort, will take place in early May at Westminster Abbey.
Just remember to sing God Save the King from now on.
4. The Lionesses Take on the World.  The Euro'scame home in 2022 when the Lionesses defeated Germany i nthe final, 2-1. Goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly sealed the result. Legends were made in the Euro's, particularly Sports Personality of the Year winner: Beth Mead.
This time, Lionesses will travel down under for the Fifa World Cup with the hope and faith of the country behind them. Sarina Weigman remains unbeaten as England Head Coach since taking over the role in September 2021.
Can she continue her global dominance in July and bring the World Cup home? This is a definite must-watch in 2023.
5. The Doctor is… Who? Okay, this one could just be me geeking out, but David Tennant is reprising his role as Doctor Who for three episodes in November before handing over to Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa.
Russell T. Davies, the man who brought Doctor Who back onto our screens in 2005 before leaving in 2010 will also return as the show runner and we are all buzzing with anticipation. Since his departure we have seen two show-runners (Steve Moffat and Chris Chibnall) and three Doctors (Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, and Jodie Whittaker).
Whatever your thoughts on their performances save them for a Reddit or Twitter thread, there will be no conflict here.
And there you have it, five things to be excited about in 2023. Are you happy with the list? Did I miss something? Did I add something I shouldn’t have? Let me know in the comments below.
Oh… and have an amazing year.

listen, uk swifities, i promise you, you don’t have to learn anything about american football now that taylor is dating travis kelce. you don’t have to known a goddamn thing about american football. many americans don’t even know a goddamn thing about american football. my dad is a football coach, my brother played football for all of high school. did i learn anything about football in all my years of being constantly surrounded by it? no, no i did not. i literally don’t even watch football… not ever. when it’s time for the super bowl, i watch the puppy bowl on my phone and completely ignore the tv until it’s time for the halftime show. then, after the halftime show is over, i go right back to ignoring the tv and watching stuff on my phone. if you want to like watch football but also you think it’s boring and hard to understand (like me), just watch clips of the players mic’d up, like i do, so that way you can at least laugh and enjoy it.

part 1
15/16/17/09/2023
As I begin to write this post, I realised quite a lot of shit happened this week + last weekend? I went to Osaka on a 7 hour coach straight after work last friday. When I reached Osaka, it reeked of hedonism and debauchery. It was honestly hilarious, the infamous stereotype that Japanese people don't fuck now seems like a fraudulent headline made for clicks. Everyone fucks, everyone was drunk and most important of all everyone was having a damn good time. I met up with a fellow JET shortly afterwards since he was letting me stayover. A great guy, younger than me. We went on the same flight together all the way from London so it was pleasant seeing him again. We hit the local convenience store to buy drinks but I also went and bought spaghetti. I was craving it and I was craving it cold lol, much to my friend's judgement and confusion. Once we got to the apartment, it was like the smallest place I've ever seen lol. It was a studio that costs 30,000 yen more than my place. The city...sucks. Not that I'm complaining about having a place to stay, hell no. I just feel for my man. We also ordered from a Matsuya (I think), a chain of restaurants that are opened 24/7. We both got rice bowls, was pretty decent stuff. I was so hungry because I was on a coach for 7 hours and it took an additional hour to get to my friend's place. After the latest dinner, we just spoke about life. Oh yeah I showered before eating, I'm not gross. I was practically rotting on the coach - I apologise to everyone. I was in my work clothes so it was extra nasty. But I digress. It was mainly my friend talking and me asking questions. It was actually his second time applying for this programme, the first time he failed which genuinely surprised me. I automatically assume most people past the first time. After talking for a bit we were straight up exhausted since it was then 3am. We went to bed and woke up at 8am the next day lol. Despite only running on 5 hours sleep, we went straight ahead with our poorly-planned schedule. We got to the station and I finally got a Icoca card which is sort of like a rite of passage in Japan. The more popular variant used in Tokyo is called Suica but they're the same thing. Although I WILL GET A SUICA TOO. It's pretty much exactly the same as an oyster card in the UK. Afterwards we went straight to Osaka castle and did a bunch of walking and touristy stuff. I took fire photos of my friend, his photos of me not so much but I'm ugly as fuck anyway so it didn't matter. The castle grounds were beautiful, we didn't go inside the castle because the queue was immense but we walked around the perimeters. There's a shrine in the castle grounds so we went there and I threw a 5 yen coin in and prayed for luck and happiness. After the castle, we decided to walk around for a bit to waste time. We were going to meet some other fellow JETs who wanted to tag along. We found a small cafe called "Mick Cafe" and it was great. Smallest cafe ever, dude was chill as hell and was just watching his TV whilst having a smoke. Tried Osaka cider and found out cider is different in Japan and fucking America. It has no alcohol, which obviously pissed the British in me off. The American JETs kindly explained that in the US it's the same but that there exists cider with alcohol. It's called "hard cider", what the fuck is this shit man. "hard cider"?! It's 4%. Nothing hard about this fucking cider. ANYWAY back to the diary note taking. We eventually met up with another JET in the middle of Dotonbori, just under the famous glico sign. By the way, Dotonbori is so fucking jammed packed full of people jesus christ, reminds me of Camden in the UK. We went for an Indian lunch after meeting up. I had a big ass biryani and tried pani puri for the first time. Fire stuff, I could eat a thousand of those things. With all of us weebs, we decided to visit Den town or some shit, I can't actually remember the name. It was supposed to be the anime sector but it was actually crazy small.

Lactose-Free Tomato Flavour Soup vs Standard Tomato Soup Tomato Soup. A comforting classic needing no introduction. A delicious snack or meal, there’s nothing bad about soup, is there? It’s just tomatoes? When it comes to weight loss, it’s only a bowl of tomato soup; soup has to be healthy, right? Well, as with anything nutritional, this depends – let’s get into it… Calories Regarding tomato soup, most people eat a whole can per sitting. A whole can comes in at around 200 calories, similar to one of our Meal Replacement Products. However, the two begin to differ when we unpack what nutritional information lies within the 200 calories of each. Sugar Tomatoes are technically a fruit, and although not high in sugar when raw, when cooked, much of the complex starch is broken down into sugars. This, coincided with the fact that a standard can of tomato soup contains added sugar already, which means although reasonably low in calories, it is deceivingly high in sugar. Eating high amounts of sugar is not the best idea when losing weight and can contribute to diabetes. Nutritional info us vs Tomato Soup Compare this standard can to our The 1:1 Diet Lactose-Free Tomato Flavour Soup Meal Replacement Product, and our version comes out on top on almost everything when it comes to nutritional information. Traditional tomato soup contains over FOUR times the amount of sugar. Couple this with the fact that a standard can have two and a half times more fat! Alternatively, our Lactose-Free Tomato Flavour Soup has less sugar, less fat and more protein, FOUR times more protein! This helps keep you fuller for longer and allows the body to repair and regenerate more effectively. As well as this, when it comes to micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), there is no comparison. Our Lactose-Free Tomato Flavour Soup is high in all essential vitamins and minerals; each low-calorie serving contains around one-third of a person’s daily requirement compared to standard tomato soup in a can. Why not try it and see? Add chilli flakes, pepper for that extra flavour or even sprinkle some pop squares for a little crunch.
