I honestly think that all the sub labels and sub categories we have as a community is a good thing. Does it make us look ridiculous and absurdist with all these words to refer to things? Maybe. But if we let ourselves be dictated by the whims of people who don’t actually like us the queer community probably wouldn’t exist at all.

Personally I’m not the type to think super heavily on labels (in my life I have bigger metaphorical fish to metaphorically fry), I have quite possibly picked the vaguest three labels possible to describe myself simply because I don’t think I can distill my lived experiences and existence and who I am as a person into a single concise concept. I respect people who can do that but I personally can’t.

And that’s why I think micro labels and sub categories and whatnot are important. It’s a way for people to explain the complicated and varied and unexplainable experience of the human condition in an (admittedly) very flawed and bodged together system to try and help people make sense of who you are, and that we work as a community to improve. These labels are a way of people saying ‘this is me, this is who I am’ and finding a way to represent themselves and show the world who they are.

It’s arguably the most liberating part of the community as a whole, that ability to find a word or phrase that expresses who you are as a person. For most labels there isn’t really a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to be that label (exceptions do exist for some of the more concrete and common labels, or the labels that are less ‘I’m attracted to this’ and more ‘I’m not attracted to that’ but I digress). Like there isn’t a ‘wrong’ way to be genderfluid, there isn’t a ‘wrong’ way to be non-binary. You don’t owe anyone shit with your gender or sexuality and that’s the beauty of it. Call yourself whatever, refer to yourself however. Live life as you want to live it. Because there isn’t a point to life and that’s the point of it.

i go by Synth online. i probably count as a “tumblr old” (been here since 2011, and i’m even older than the source material my f/o comes from). i’m one of these 🏳️‍🌈. i do a lot of arts n crafts, and have commissions open. i’m bad at writing about me.

This isn’t a faq, more like a “things you might be wondering about”:

“What does your url mean?” -the species plankton are called copepods. yay for having a pre-existing interest in marine bio. the 5000 doesn’t mean anything, i just thought it looks cool. and vaguely technological.

“Plankton is already married…” -anyone who loves Plankton, i also love by extension. That includes Karen! luckily i like computers and robots too very much :)

“So are you okay with sharing him?” -See above. Yes! He needs all the love.

“Anniversary?” -23/7/23. i already knew him from years back, but really reconnected with him when i heard a certain song… it was love at first listen. i’ve had few and far between f/os in the past, and every time it was the same “fall for them hard and fast” situation.

“F/O list?” -just the one guy is all i need. :)

Now here’s where i’ll infodump about my s/i…… eventually lol. When I get round to getting a few sketches I’ve done out of “WIP purgatory”, I’ll post about it under the #🦈 tag. I’m a shark, his best(/only…) customer, then shoulder to cry on, then we progress to more… lil dweeb latches on to the first guy who truly doesn’t consider him a loser. i could be talking about either of them there…

Call me a freak or whatnot, but I LOVE the way skin heals. Like, I assume this is a stage where I’m romanticising my trauma and stuff (but look, I’m clean, lemme sweet talk my vices for a sec).

Anywho! I love the slow process of healing, especially without giving the skin any assistance. I once cut down straight through to the fat layer and (after I cleaned it and everything) just let it heal open without pulling the edges together. It took a month just for it to start closing properly and sealing itself, and 2 weeks on top of that to close fully. But now, it’s a beautiful and flat scar. The body managed to fill in all that space itself! It’s so amazing. In time my body will produce more than enough scar tissue to cause it to hypertrophy, just like all the others.

But I’m excited to see how it progresses from here. Because it is my deepest and only full thickness scar to date, and it’s not nearly as wide as some of my others I’ve collected. I wonder - because it’s so deep- that it’ll stay flat.

It’s also interesting because I had little to no issue healing quite literally the 2nd worst cut I’ve ever had. But tiny scratches I used to do would get infected and itchy and take months to heal. Some of the much shallower scars that I sutured still itch months later. Even after everything is fully healed.
