Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced off against one another in the first-ever live-stream sporting event on Netflix. The result of the event being live-streamed in this way led to a record 65 million concurrent streamers watching the boxing event all at once, according to Most Value Promotions.

Naturally, Netflix may not have accounted for the millions of people who were attempting to watch the fight all at once. The strain on the servers led to countless issues with streaming quality, buffering, and access. Thousands of people began to record their problems online.

As a result of the poor streaming quality, a class action lawsuit has now been filed in Florida. A man by the name of Ronald "Blue" Denton has filed the lawsuit, which states that around 90,000 people lost the ability to watch the live-streamed fight.

Denton filed the lawsuit in Hillsborough County, Florida on Monday, accusing Netflix of breach of contract and deceptive trade practices.

NBC Chicago contacted Netflix for a response to the troubles and was told, in part, "nothing to comment on at this time."

According to a report from WFAA, the lawsuit indicates that viewers "were faced with legendary problems, including no access, streaming glitches, and buffering issues."

Additionally, "60 million Americans were hyped to see 'Iron' Mike Tyson, 'The Baddest Man on the Planet' versus YouTuber-turned-prizefighter Jake Paul. What they saw was 'The Baddest Streaming on the Planet'," the lawsuit stated.

So far, Netflix has not commented on the issues stemming from the quality of the fight to many households.

Many are now concerned that Netflix will have the same issues when the NFL heads to the streamer for the first time on Christmas. Two games are set to be shown on the streamer: the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans.

Despite the growing concerns, ESPN's Dan Graziano stated that the NFL is already doing its due diligence to ensure the same issues will not be replicated. According to Graziano's report:

"The buffering problems that Netflix had with the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight Friday raised some eyebrows around the league since the NFL is scheduled to broadcast two Christmas Day games on Netflix this year. Obviously it would cause a major uproar if the stream cut out or froze in the middle of a spectacular Lamar Jackson scramble or Patrick Mahomes deep throw to the end zone.

The NFL did check in with Netflix following the Tyson-Paul fight to ask about the problems and assess the likelihood that they could repeat themselves on Christmas. Netflix said the fight reached 60 million homes, and apparently part of the explanation to the league was that the unprecedented scale for them of broadcasting a live sporting event contributed to some of the challenges they faced."

Something I find funny when people talk about Amy Rose's character, is how they akways follow a very predictable pattern:

"Amy back then was a stalker and useless"

"Her character is soo much better now"

"She now has a personality"

And so on.

These are just of the same phrases parroted by THOSE western fans who think that characters should be outstanding role models and not fictional people with virtues, but also flaws.

Frankly, I never understood WHY Amy in the 2000's was seen as "annoying". Either I'm very patient or those people are easily offended as they are spineless.

Or maybe it's the cultural clash between how western media sees girly girls like Amy VS how the Japanese see the same type of character.

In Japan, they aren't afraid of having feminine characters, let alone of allowing said feminine characters to do things that clash with western ideas of "that is not very lady like" or "girls shouldn't fight" and the such.

For the last years, something I never liked was seeing my favorite character be sanitized in her characterization for the sake of people who can't appreciate a good character since what they want is a safe, idealized, non-offensive take that saddly, results in Amy losing so much of what made her character fun. This approach is, if anything, the exact opposite of being "progressive", as it calls for Amy's feminine traits to be suppressed. Even Tyson Hesse has expressed in the Sonic Retro forums how writers are afraid of letting Amy express her affection for Sonic, something she used to do very openly (though understandibly childish in how she handled things, as a very young girl like her would) because of this silly fear that the western audience might be annoyed… the hell with that.

Only very recently has games like the one where the gang celebrates Amy's birthday and Sonic is "killed" or Sonic Dream Team have displayed the sassy, energic and even feisty sides of Amy's character… a character who deserves better characterizations that allows for her to be herself without writers acting like they're walking on thin ice due to a spoiled, entitled and over-sensitive western audience that hates fun.

"But we want Amy to mature…"

First, most people don't even understand what that word truly means.

Second, Amy doesn't need that. Why does she has to be the only one in the group who is not allowed to have some dumb silly fun with the boys? Especially when Amy is a mirror to a lot of things Sonic does, like loving adventures and excitement and who energy can even overwhelm him (see for example their specual victory animation in the Olympics or even as early as SA1). Like, where did people got this idea that Amy is a killjoy/partypooper who gets annoyed at the dumb boys for not being as smart as she is? That's not Amy… that's a very different character more akin to Sally, whose schtick was getting frustrated that she didn't had control.

Heck, even on the topic of Amy expressing her affection, I think the real problem is not her, but Sonic himself and the way he sometimes is written to act in ways that if not ruse, can come off as insensible towards an Amy who IMO doesn't deserve to be treated like a Meg Griffin.

That Amy is childish, bratty, sometimes a bit aggressive/hot tempered are things that balance her sweet, bubbly and compassionate side, making her feel more like a "real" person (at least within the confines of fiction). I love and adore Amy as a character with both admirable virtues as well as a flawed side that not only makes her a fun and amusing character (even when she does embarrassing things), but most importantly, it humanizes her. I don't lie when I say this: if Amy were a one-dimentional, highly idealized character who is only all-virtues with none of her flaws, I wouldn't like her at all, for that type of characters are not only impossible and unrelatable, but also come off as condescending and offer no entertainment value.

Amy is perfect by being imperfect. And both writers and audiences need to grow up and let my girl be all she can be, never again having her personality be suppressed for any reason.

In honor of tonight’s fight, (Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul) I want to highlight heavyweight champion Michael Gerard Tyson and give him his flowers 💐.

Mike Tyson made his professional debut as an 18-year-old. 🥊

Mike also known as “Iron Mike” is a former American Professional Boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005.

Tyson won his first 19 fights by knockouts.

He was undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987-1990.

He became the youngest heavyweight champion at age 20 in 1986.

He has a 50-6 professional record, with 44 knockouts and two no-contests.

He was the first professional boxer to hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles simultaneously.

After almost 20 years later, he is scheduled to fight Jake Paul.

I can’t help but to feel like this was purposely planned to make a living legend’s legacy get overshadowed by a younger, fit boxer who is currently in his prime.

Mike Tyson is 58 years of age and is now fighting Jake Paul just feels wrong and racist. This could just be me but just from clips of Jake Paul saying “he’s coming to take the crown 👑”. I also saw clips of his mom saying she would “kill Mike Tyson”. Even though she was “joking” and lol’d it off, it’s basically no respect for a living LEGEND. 😒

Nonetheless, we can see right through their tactics.

The antitrust lawsuit against the UFC has already had a positive outcome on at least one fighter - Francis Ngannou.

As the lawsuit was being worked through pretrial, the UFC changed the sunset clause in their contracts. Previously, based on different criteria, the UFC was able to extend contracts in perpetuity. Champions clauses, minimum yearly appearances, etc were used to extend contracts. The UFC changed that during pretrial so that contracts “only” lasted 5 years. Ngannou lucked out that the last fight on his contract was during this period, so he got to leave with the UFC Heavyweight title. As a result, Ngannou got his big money fight with Tyson Fury and his sweet deal from PFL. And he’ll likely get another big money fight with a high profile boxer too.

So when Dana says “we’re working on making sure this never happens again” he probably means adding back all those clauses that kept fighters locked in to the UFC in perpetuity. Or having their legal team look for new ways to lock fighters down.

I feel as though people don't talk about how inflammatory the creator meatcanyon is.

And no, I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, so that's not where I'm coming from.

I've seen him (meatcanyon) misgender people, such as Katlyn Jenner or Kris Tyson.

The first one was him outright calling her by her deadname in a video. I don't support Katlyn, but I at least respect her gender. The latter, I don't have definite proof of, but there was a drawing of her in his art style (so I'm not sure if it's him or someone copying his style) going around on his subreddit that is extremely transphobic and fatphobic.

He says he's centralist, but in the same video, he, and I'm paraphrasing, thinks that the lgbtq+ community and actual literal nazis are one in the same.

I can absolutely wreck my search results again on this to get the sources. But I am not sure if it's worth my time because I don't have a far outreach.

P.S. don't interact if you're looking to fight. I dealt with enough of it on Instagram. I don't want to deal with it here. I will block instantly, and it's not a win for your argument.

Inside My Head(canon): Gabby Jay & Glass Joe

It occurs to me that I have a history in my head for the various canon characters I mention in my stories, but I’m not necessarily putting that history out there in the stories themselves. Partly that’s because my stories don’t focus on the canon characters, but it’s also because I don’t like to include things that aren’t necessary and natural to the moment. Nothing to me is worse than for a character to say something like, “There’s Bald Bull! As you know, they call him the Turkish Mad Bull because...” No one would actually talk that way, so I don’t write that way.

That said, I thought people might wonder why Glass Joe is 0-20 and seemingly a more gutsy person in this story when he’s often portrayed as a coward or why Gabby Jay is a respected and revered figure in the WVBA despite retiring at 1-99. So, here’s my headcanon on Gabby Jay and Glass Joe

The 1984 Punch-Out!! arcade game is the basis in my story for the founding of the WVBA some 25 years ago. Glass Joe was the original lowest ranked boxer in the game, but I wanted my characters to interact with him as a fighter, so I made Gabby Jay the original lovable loser instead.

In my story, Gabby Jay still went 1-99, but he was incredibly well respected by his fellow fighters for his skill and resilience. Out of 100 fights, Gabby Jay was knocked out a mere 12 times. By WVBA standards, that’s amazing. Gabby was so technically sound that despite not having the physical gifts to excel in boxing, he was still able to hold his own with virtually anyone.

In fact, he was so loved and respected by his fellow fighters that the last fight in the original WVBA’s existence, taking place about 15 years ago, was Gabby Jay versus Kid Dynamite, our Mike Tyson stand-in, for the World Circuit Championship, which Jay lost by unanimous decision. Then, 2 years ago when the WVBA was reborn, Gabby Jay was the first fight, taking on a debuting Glass Joe. That fight was Gabby’s lone win, which he won by knockout in the third round.

Today, Gabby Jay serves as a WVBA official and is looked upon as an institution in the league. Fighters, both young and seasoned, often seek him out for advice and guidance on all aspects of the business and sport of boxing. Perhaps none more so than Glass Joe.

In three of the five Punch-Out!! video games, Glass Joe is your first opponent. With a record of 1-99, he’s the tutorial level, the lovable loser.  As a result, he’s often cast as a coward and a bum.  But after reading a fanfic titled “Ma Fille” by NoonboryKedabory on Archive of Our Own, my outlook on Joe’s potential as a character changed. In “Ma Fille”, Joe’s portrayed as a dedicated, honorable, and mentally, if not physically, tough man that’s willing to enter the ring time and again, knowing he’ll likely lose, for his love of the sport and to provide for his loved ones. This spoke to me.

The Glass Joe of my story, real name José Vasse, is young to his WVBA career. He grew up idolizing Gabby Jay, seeing him as the epitome of French grace and determination. Like his idol, Joe lacks some key physical gifts. Unlike Jay, the gift Joe lacks is a strong chin. However, his gift is his love and passion for the sport.

Though in his 20 fights, all losses, he’s been knocked out 18 times, Joe is actually one of the WVBA’s most skilled fighters. In touch boxing, a drill where the object is to touch a target zone on your opponent, typically the lead shoulder and/or thigh, Joe is undefeated. He doesn’t brag on this fact, being the humble gentleman he is, but it’s a known fact in the locker rooms that he had a better chin and better power, he’d be a force to be reckoned with in the ring.

It’s for this reason that Joe works with Jay, who he calls Le Maître (French for The Master). Jay was known for sharp eyes and as a quick starter in his day. Joe can pick up on his opponent’s tells and patterns, but by the time he does he’s usually looking at the lights. Joe seeks Jay’s help whenever he can to perfect his defense. His goal is not to win a championship or even have a winning record. If Glass Joe is one day looked at with the same respect as Gabby Jay, he’ll be happy with his career.
