Annabeth: I, a child, had to earn Thalia’s love, that’s how the world works! I have to earn my moms love. Love is transactional, you gotta be worthy of it first silly :)
Omg I'm such an idiot... I've been lamenting not being able to watch Japanese TV shows because I don't have Netflix or any other streaming service anymore, and then I was like... I live in Japan?? I have a TV??? I can just turn on the TV and there will be Japanese TV shows inside it?????? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
If you had to turn someone into a kenstewy truther with only one of their scenes, which one would you pick?
really good question.. first and most obvious answer I think would either be 'go to the bathroom have a little sth sth' combined with the whole bathroom scene or the friend card scene.
but this question had me thinking back to when it clicked for me that there is more to them, and weirdly the very first time I watched the show I did not really pick up on kenstewy for a while (even though I was already convinced ken was bi from ep 1 on, don't ask me how that works. but that's also why I think kenstewy isn't the strongest evidence for bi ken but I digress). Like I was raising my eyebrows at the friend card scene like okay what's all this then, but was telling myself I'm probably just reading too much into it .... but what actually did it for me was the josh aaronson / stewy hug with kendall watching from the plane window lmao. don't ask me why. but something about this
had me like. hold on a minute. even though the scene isn't even that loaded with subtext or anything, like of course Ken's defeated and devastated about losing Josh's vote, like whatever. but for some reason that's what did it for me and then I went back to their other scenes like. okay actually these bitches are gay and I was not reading too much into it lmao. so idk, if the first ones i mentioned don't work to convince that real or hypothetical person of kenstewy try this one!

So, with the coat done, I've moved on to the leggings/chaps, with the idea of getting the vinyl sewing done and over with. As stated previously, I opted to line the chaps with the mock-up, which I made from a twin-sized flat bed sheet.
Not a lot of in-progress pix, mostly because they're repetitive and boring. I'm pretty sure I've got some things done backwards, because it's remarkably hard to tell fronts from backs when you have separate legs.
I definitely messed up when I sewed the snap tape to the lining at the waistband, because I had not turned the mock-up chaps right-side out. This is a problem, because my plan was to have the right sides facing out, leaving any unfinished edges sandwiched between 2 layers of fabric. Exposed raw edges tend to unravel, and the more stress and strain the fabric experiences, even just putting them on and taking them off, means the fabric unravels faster.
Did I unstitch the snap tape and sew it on the right side? No. No, I did not. I just turned the fabric down enough to expose the snaps, or rather, to hide them, when I sewed in the lining. This meant things didn't quite line up, and I had to do more hand-sewing that I had anticipated, but, it's my time to waste. Or something like that. Plus, I don't really trust my zipper foot, after a few mishaps on past project, and if I'm not careful and sew over a snap, that's a broken or bent needle I have to replace. I'd rather not.
This is not my first experience sewing snap tape to leggings. My Stormtrooper armor also snaps over a base layer of leggings and a turtle neck. So I knew that straight sewing wasn't a good idea- the leggings are stretchy, and will need to stretch out to fit properly. So the snaps tape is just tacked in place between each snap. It's secure enough, and doesn't inhibit machine-washing the base layer.
Here's me testing the snaps placement. I haven't hemmed the mock-up yet, as there was the possibility I'd have to turn the leggings inside out again, and I wanted to leave myself some extra room, in case I had to adjust things
This is the leggings base layer. It's washable and comfortable.
Here's the finished leggings. It's not the most flattering look from the back, but that will be covered with the tunic and the coat.
And here are the chaps with the boots. As expected, there isn't room to tuck the chaps into the boots, so I'll have to cover those with the boot covers. But coming up next, the tunic!
PS- I was out running errands today, and I find, on the clearance rack at Old Navy, fake leather pants! In black! And also in brown. Evidently they weren't super popular, as there were several pairs in varying sizes, including a couple that were close enough to mine!
If I were doing this in my 20s, I'd have gone for pants and just added the details. But, while these pants are TECHNICALLY washable (close all fasteners, turn inside out, wash and dry on cold/low), any details I added would not be.
Also, they don't tuck into the boots well, and aren't quite wide enough to go over the boots. If they were perfectly fitted, it might work better, but such are clearance rack finds.
I did also buy 3 more yards of black vinyl fabric because it was 70% off ($2.99/yard), and I'd rather be certain I have plenty. Besides, I'd like to make a full-length pair of chaps to go with my cowboy costume. Because you never know when you're gonna need a cowboy costume. ;-)
I’ve been playing a lot of potion permit lately and i have some thoughts
This game rocks it’s super cute and fun
I don’t THINK Rue is supposed to be as young as people think she is. I get her being a romance target. Like story wise it makes sense. but. like. even her tarot card looks so young. So like. again i don’t think it’s the intention of the devs to have a child romance target. she just. she’s just small. i think that’s the intent. but still it’s. odd
Also why can’t I date Lucke. Or Runeheart. or Dev i like Dev
I’m so happy that I can date Victor now like hi. hi. hello weird graveyard man hi.
I wish there were more gift options than just the moon cloves :/
I absolutely adore every character. they’re all so well designed and cute. even if i tend to give all my mooncloves to Victor and Dev.
I really like the combat resource collection portion of the game. I like how you can use any tool as a weapon with pros and cons to each. like that was so well thought out. adore it
I wish the romance system went like. beyond just one date then boom you’re done. maxed out. let me do more. please. i’m begging. i know there’s more dates. but. like. more pls.
But yeah!! overall!! really loving it. My autistic ass rotates through ‘cozy games’ to hyper fixate on and Potion Permit is a great addition to that list lol even if i have some problems with it i still recommend
I’ve adored your art for such a long time!!! I was wondering if you might be able to share how you texture your art, and how you make lighting so warm and natural? /not forced
Your ship is everything to me btw!!!

Hi hi! I'm very honored that you liked my art and my ship 😭😭😭💕
Anyway, of course! Although I have to skip on the texture part because I don't feel comfortable sharing it rn (and also I had a hard time explaining my steps too zzzz) so perhaps I will open up about it one day
As for the lighting, I sat down for hours thinking of ways to explain it but i just dk how to explain it in English so I recorded the basic lighting I do most of the time:
You can get the shadow tree thing here on csp asset (although I bought it when it was cheaper I didn't know they raised it to 1000 clippy now 🤧) Another one that I use almost religiously is this one from creative market (my lect gave the file to us in class hhh I'm not insane enough to pay that much for an overlay). You don't need to pay at all though! I've seen tons of it in google for free its just a normal shadow overlay lol
I don't usually draw my own shadow and lighting and even for rim lights I just select the layer and use the shrink tool and gaussian blur the heck out of it. I think the last time I actually draw the shadow and lighting by hand is when I draw this one a few months ago (cw suggestive but link is here if you want to see the lighting)
Majority of the time I spend whenever I draw on my laptop is the lighting because it's mostly a trial and error process and it does takes time for me to figure out which one looks nice in the end. For the sake of time and simplicity of the video I just show the basic way of me doing the lighting but I did ended up working on the render more after I'm done with the video lol
Personally, I think doing color blocks and determining the overall tint of it (Like this one I set it to be like a warm pinkish tone) really helps you focus on what you want the end result to be and saves time on figuring out the color while you paint.
here's the sketch and the end result:
I wish this is helpful enough for your or anyone to understand and try out! :3
if you are new at being an adult/living on your own (especially if you started out adulthood or post grad life during the early days of the pandemic) and feel lonely despite having friends and people you talk to, please invite people to hang out at your place. this sounds like stupid advice but not enough people take it to heart. “oh we’re not that close” that’s how you get that close!!! I cannot emphasize enough how much your friends don’t care if you have socks on the floor or some dishes in the sink or a cramped apartment that doesn’t look very nice or some central activity to keep them entertained. invite people over. don’t limit yourself to things that cost money and exist only in public. let yourself be with people in the intimacy of your own home. the number of times a friend has come over and just started doing the dishes for me or I’ve sat matching socks while they folded their laundry on the floor. let them bring some snacks instead of venmoing each other for takeout. provide some tea or alcohol or whatever you like and can afford. you don’t need an excuse to see people. you don’t need an excuse to let them see you.
also getting a capitalism buzz. Cleared off the plant table and dsitributed them around my room. Dismantled the table and replaced it with a cheap TV I got on clearance from JB-HiFi and a $30 entertainment unit from IKEA. I have hooked it up to my computer and am currently running the Namibian desert livestream.
Tomorrow I will be setting up the cabinet greenhouse for my plonts. :3
