I made a website!

Now you've probably seen the attempt before, people getting mad at tumblr and then making a 'Simblr' (Tumblr clone). Though, despite tumblr being sometimes a bit frustrating because of their changes, that's not why this site came to be...

I wanted a place where Storytellers, Creators, and just generic sim players can all be together and get the exposure and fun that they deserve.

Not only that, but also for a place where the TSM community and TS1 can belong somewhere too without the use of a forum.

And eventually, I hope we can make it the home for Life by you and Paralives when that comes out :)

Plus, it's also NSFW friendly! While the site is initially PG-13, we've got tags and profile settings that allow you to browse NSFW items as well.

Mods

I've specifically made filters for different games, and their needs in mind. For example, for TS2 there are so many awesome game fixes out there and clean templates, that you'll be able to navigate and find this easily.

Not only that, items can also be put in multiple categories! Especially great if you've uploaded a set!

You can also find Testers wanted only mods here if you feel like helping out fellow simmers with testing!

NOTE:

Mods do go through a "queue", but not in the same way as you may have experienced on MTS or TSR. I merely check if it's flagged as NSFW correctly, and then it's good to go! :) So the waiting time will be much less!

What about moderation?

While there's a report system in place, and the items in the queue are checked for NSFW, but users could still turn their non-NSFW to a NSFW, items may be stolen. So do report these as that will never be condoned!

Additionally, all comments you get on your mods, story, etc. Those are primarily moderated by you. You can delete them, you can turn comments off even if you'd like. If things really go wrong, you can always ask an admin.

playing ts2 pleasantview is even funnier to me sometimes, cause i've also played ts1 and had messed with the premades in the past in such intricate ways, which the developers had never intended in the sequel.

like i actually remember making daniel pleasant and cassandra goth as a power-couple of the ugly ass (thank you game for the randomly assigned heads) wizards with their own dragon farm. daniel had moved to the goths' mansion and i had to starve mortimer and bella in order to continue the legacy.

those two were genuinely super sweet with each other and had, like, two adopted children and three dragons, though daniel had died in the fire, once he tried to charm the flamingo statue and cassandra had been mourning him automatically for days. they definitely were the couple in my ts1 game (only behind elden/claire and chris/melissa).

the bummer is that i had already known how the developers intended them to grow up and behave later on, but this didn't stop me from matching them up for fun. i was more surprised how much i became attached to them. "fuck, did i really think that daniel/cassandra was a cute couple?" in that kind of way.

but in ts2 universe i can't even IMAGINE them to be on friendly terms, let alone dating each other. i've always imagined them being on that passive-agressive terms and they are only nice to each other whenever mary-sue enters the room.

dan thinks that cas is a big weirdo and spoiled naive nerd, while cas thinks that he's a massive dumb prick who can't keep it in his pants (and honestly, mary-sue could've done so much better).

yet now, with the new hood being set up in ts1, i kinda want to pair them up again.

It's been a while since I've actually made a video, and I share them here & there, but idk if I ever did a post about all of it.

I have a YouTube channel with nearly 80 hours of no commentary gameplay spanning across The Sims 1, The Sims 2, Life Stories, Pet Stories, Castaway Stories, and Sims Medieval.

My Sims 1 videos range from playing pre-mades, exploring expansions like Vacation & Makin' Magic, the Asylum Challenge, prehistoric living in a tent in the forest, etc.

I'm new to sims 4 and I randomly found your blog and man, your stories are so well-constructed! I never imagined the sims being used like this and it's been very fun to follow your little guys go about their lives lol if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been creating these intricate stories in the game? And do you know already how your current storyline is going to end or do you go with the flow and see what happens?

it warms my lil heart that you enjoy following my pixel ppls lives right along with me 🥺 i suppose i've always kinda come up with some form of story for em, in ts4 anyway, even when i was just playing legacy style for myself and not rlly sharing anything here - way back in 2017/18! that's when i picked up ts4.. before that i played a lot of ts3 but i spent a lot of time making worlds in CAW rather than playing and with ts2/ts1 i think i mostly just played with an empty head 😂 they're a bit of a childhood blur tbh lmao

i don't currently have an "end" in mind for my current story 🤔 not rlly, anyway.. i suppose it's kinda open ended since it's more like a slice of life story u kno, but i do have a lot of ideas written out, and an "end" for Robin's childhood arc! i think we'll do a timeskip to his teen years then, and after that another one so Wren/Byrd will be teens n' Robin will be too still, just like older, in his last year of high school or maybe college idk eventually Forever in Between will end too, but idk how yet.. it'll be right before Robin reaches young adulthood i reckon, since i'll probably start a new, more plot based story with him after that (that's a majorly vague idea for the future for now tho 😅)

I should probably actually introduce myself since I’m trying to get this blog back up and running, so hi! I’m Gavin (he/him), I’m a 29yo grad student and I’ve been playing sims games since before TS1 existed—I am unashamed to admit that a significant portion of my childhood was spent flooding the wilderness with weasels in Sim Park.

I've been playing the Sims since the ts1 days, so for more than 20 years now (I feel old haha). I have been on simblr for quite some time now and I've finally created a new blog to post my own game. I mostly stick to build/buy, but also love messing around in cas and the occasional gameplay/legacy challenge aaaand sometimes I even attempt to write/continue my sims story.

My style is a little bit of everything ( I guess maxis mix?!), I rarely go full alpha, but I love some high poly trees or skins in my game!

I'm looking to follow others who post their gameplay, legacies, sim stories, build/buy adventures, or really just anyone who enjoys and likes to bitch about this game as much as I do & wants to interact with other simmers!

I put it under a cut because it’s quite long. I didn’t know who to tag because I’m so late to posting this with everything that has been going on. 

What’s your favorite sims death? I never thought of this one... Maybe death by pufferfish nigiri because the ghost has a little pufferfish floating inside them and I think that’s cute because I really like puffer fish (not to eat). I’d love to have a little puffer fish buddy with me in the afterlife.

Alpha CC or MaxisMatch? I lean towards MaxisMatch most in my game but I don’t mind the aesthetic of alpha either. There’s some nice alpha stuff out there.

Do you cheat your sims weight? I have only because no matter what I do, toddlers living on the long lifespan always gain a lot of weight (the calorie system in the game is kinda weird) but outside of that I haven’t (although I never adjusted Fern’s weight when she aged up because I just decided not to for no reason whatsoever).

Do you move objects? Yep! I could not live without it in Sims 4.

Favorite Mod? I don’t have one favorite mod so naming one is difficult. I could not enjoy this game without the majority of mods I have. More Traits In CAS is one of my faves because having those extra traits through the life stages has helped create some depth to my sims’ personalities, at least in my mind. It’s helped to keep my interest in playing longer than a few months.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack? I bought everything in the order it came out for Sims 1, 2, and 3. For Sims 4 (iirc): Get To Work/Outdoor Retreat/Perfect Patio

Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing? aLIVE.

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? It’s a tie between Hector and Sophie. (Most of my faves have been born in-game)

Have you made a simself? Yep! Back when it was still just the CAS demo. I don’t have her around anymore though.

Which Sim traits do you give yourself? Social Awkward, Cat Lover, Creative, probably Gloomy too if I’m honest.😅 (But I don’t show that side of me to others, a lot of people think I’m Cheerful. lol)

Which is your favorite EA hair color? That light brown shade that was added around when Snowy Escape came out.

Favorite EA hair? I don’t think I have one.... I have some I don’t care for... I just like that there’s finally a variety of hair types/styles that aren’t just straight hair.

Favorite life stage? I don’t think I have one... I have the most fun when I have a variety of life stages to play (although it can feel overwhelming sometimes).

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Gameplay. I don’t mind building in Sims 4 but it’s rare when I’m having a good time doing it.

Are you a CC creator? Nope. I tried to recolour the kids’ bicycles and gave up. lol I might try again but I need the time and focus to do it.

Do you have any simblr friends/ a sim squad? I guess it depends on how those are defined since people define them differently. I do know a lot of really awesome people on here who I enjoy interacting with though. 🙂

What’s your favorite game? Right now it flips between Sims 4 and Genshin Impact. Used to also be Overwatch, which I still enjoy on occasion, but not as much as I used to.

Do you have any sims merch? Nope.

Do you have a YouTube for sims? Nope. I have the charisma of a wilted lettuce.

How has your « sims style » changed throughout your years of playing? I went from creating haunted houses in TS1 to playing legacy style in Sims 2 and beyond (and creating a haunted house by more ethical means). I only ever managed to finish one legacy family to 10 generations and that family will forever be lost somewhere on Live Journal as it should be. (I have a picture chart of all their faces though.)

What’s your origin id? Simbico but I don’t have anything worth looking at on there. It’s usually for my own backups.

Who’s your favorite CC creator? It’s hard because I have so many I like and not just one favorite. 😭 But RavenSim is one of my many favorites because their hair helps make my sims’ infants/toddlers/kids even cuter!

How long have you had simblr? According to my first Sims 3 post, at least since 2011 but I did abandon it for a long time. I was so happy seeing some familiar simblrs still posting when I came back. 😊

How do you edit your pictures? I used to use Photoshop but now I just use Reshade. I use a really old version of Photoshop from 2012 for cropping and stuff but I tend to not do much more than that. I don’t have the time with the amount of pictures I take. lol

What expansion/ gamepack is your favorite? TS1 - Makin’ Magic | TS2 - Open For Business | TS3 - Pets | TS4 - Growing Together, maybe tied with Country Living (the EP that kept bringing me back).

Was Coraleye planned from the beginning, or was she kind of just born into your game and stole your heart? and was Tycho always the plan for her or did your game decide that fate? 🤍

I'd have to say a little bit of both! I knew for generation 4, I really wanted a female heir, since the previous heirs have all been males. So far, it's been a tradition that the youngest of the kids turn out to be the heir, and I wanted to stick to that with her. So I knew she'd be the youngest daughter. Years ago, I was on a color-naming website thing? looking for color names that fit the Dollow color scheme, and very quickly came up with the names Brick, Charm, and Sunglow (which I removed the 'w') then the last was Coral, which was alright. I already had a way different name picked for her at the time (Anastasia!) but on my list of sims names I had the alternate spelling "Coralie" written down, and she had heterochromia + a coral eye, so I had kind of a 'what if' moment and BOOM, CORALEYE! ✨ This was possibly years in advance, I tend to think pretty far ahead. Just like I know who Coraleye will end up with, how many kids she'll have, and what their names will be already 😉😂 Her brothers were all born in sims 3 but she was the only one to start her life in ts4 with very rough beginnings 😄 (limited cc and dog shit graphics!) Her personality, most of her storylines, and overall ability to shine and take over my simblr, well she did all that on her own 😅

AS FOR TYCHO OMG... No, none of that was planned lol!! As someone who has played the sims since the first generation (ts1!) I tend to remake a lot of the classic families. The Curious brothers and Strangetown were my absolute FAVORITES from ts2 and since I'm a chaotic mess, a lot of my creations tend to inhabit the same saves. Tycho naturally met Seymour Darling when they joined the same conspiracy theory club in Strangerville. Then Tycho went to college at the same time Glo did, I thought they'd be cute besties since they're both nerds so I let them be roommates (I even left the possibility to fliration open! 👀) and they quickly became a tight-knit group of friends. After Coraleye was introduced, that boy didn't stand a chance, and those two threw a wrench in the entire plans of the legacy!

Don't worry though, we've rerouted, and we're back on track 🚂😆

The Goth Family

this is a small photoshoot location i randomly created on spot just to take this photo, i wanted the goths to have a picture together but i have genuinely never been good at buy mode so i believe this is my first try at making a proper room and i just loveee this place so much <3 too bad it's a random square box i built next to the actual goth house lmao but i definitely want it in the estate so i'll have to move all the stuff eventually (and figure out where it would fit since i have the ts1 goth house and it's tiny and needs a lot of add-ons, it's gonna be fun but it feels intimidating). and cassie's dress is so uneccesarily big but i love it so muchhh, she looks like a princess that's my baby <3 (she's older than me) i have to mention there's also a feral michael bachelor in the house and i almost k worded him bc he kept interrupting the photoshoot wearing a tshirt with shorts like he's your embarrassing uncle that you're stuck with on a beach vacation, anyway i made him light the fireplace a few times and was seriously scared the place was gonna set on fire like the last two times i had a photoshoot also everyone was obsessed with the piano and thinking about it all the time when i had the bubbles on and once i accidentally moved michael into a window, i hate love playing with the goths bc in every game they're the same and keep wreaking havoc and fighting each other and ruining their relationships, it was always that way when i was playing out their story in ts1 bc i had a hacked poster that worked like maxmotives but it also made all the other stats go up as well including their personality points (idk who needs that) and because of that everyone was 10-points extraverted and wouldn't stop talking to each other and eventually they all hated each other, also mortimer with that stupid mouse doll was everywhere pls tell me you all know what i mean 😭 i really should share something about that story one day yeah...

okayyyy also idk what to do with this photo now that i think about it bc the timeline is all over the place, bella hasn't been in the picture for like 2 years and cassie's scar is fresh and alex was definitely younger when their mom disappeared, he's supposed to be 13 now even though he looks 15 here but his age was decided on actually about 13 literal years ago so i don't know if i can part with that 😭 i like him being a weird ultra smart child pain in the ass lol. i actually had a legacy challenge in ts1 ten years ago where spoiler alert alex was the actual child of my founder bc she adopted him, he had a different name and all and he was super mega sweet, i feel like he's way more bitchy here for some reason 😭 i just love when everyone is a bitch i guess...

weird question but are you doing rotational gameplay in your saves? i ask because i want to try it out but really don't know where to start with it and what settings to use in regards to gameplay and i love, love, love your saves so you feel like the right person to ask

Hello anon! This isn't a weird question at all and I’m very flattered that you like my little gameplays. This is probably gonna turn into an old lady ramble below the cut, so buckle in kids.  ( ´◡‿◡`)

I currently have two files I play on rotational gameplay in (guiding lights and blooming) because I've always found it easier to become invested in the file, it makes it feel more like a living breathing world. I've done gameplay this way since I first played ts1 all those years ago. I think the biggest thing with rotational gameplay is that you’ll probably have to experiment to see how you like to play this type of file, because there is really no one correct way to play. 

That being said, I can think of two ways that you could try the waters with rotational gameplay. The first one being that you start a new save and try playing with some premades households. If you want a more legacy style save, you could start with one core family and slowly build out the families you add into the rotation. This is how guiding lights started where I started with just Sofia/Kip, then added Trista/Joel to the rotation, and eventually Imani/Vincent.  The rotation currently looks like this where I rotate the the families out in-game every three days because my gameplay can get big:

Sofia/Kip/Lyra/Liam —- > Trista/Joel —- > Imani/Vincent 

When gen two rolls around it will probably look something more like this:

Sofia/Kip —- > Trista/Joel —- > Imani —---> Vincent/Lyra —--> Liam/Redacted/Redacted

A lot of people use spreadsheets to keep track of their family goals, how often they get rotated, etc. Youtube is a good resource for setting up these spreadsheets. I don’t currently make use of one, but you might find one useful.

 As for my settings, I think these are the basics:

I can add a resource list for my gameplay mods too if anyone is interested. I won't do genetics because most of my sims have custom skinblends that change as they age.

icb ive lived to see ts4 misty this pregnant, then she had a boy again lmao so far ts2+ts4 misty both have jake! it's in the stars lmao (ts3 misty isn't there yet, ts1 misty is struggling to stay alive we dont know her)

and yes her husband is simon scott, she had no idea (i had no idea) he was taken, asked him out and he said absolutely nothing about it; then he asked misty to move in with her after like...their first date. So, technically she broke up his relationship but i'd like to believe he broke up his relationship cause she had nothing to do with his hiding it lol

His last name will be his mom's also, just like in ts2. I guess because she's ultra famous 5 star celeb, it just makes sense. (and it's the household/legacy name so whatever)

oh i don't know what i wanna work on atm. i'm too excited about veilguard coming out on thursday i just wanna go play that!

i'm working on some more house work and bouncing around between power leveling my last handful of classes on raya, getting more swtor refs for the combat sketches i've been working on, catching up on koren (maybe catching up on kyri or kole as well since they're romances will be arn and rass respectively), working on alts on wow or xiv, working on my current ts4 legacy, or fighting with one of the old towers to try and get ts1 and 2 to work.

xvi is currently shelved until after veilguard even though i do wanna work on it more because i got to a certain part and i really want to keep going but i'm also in a good pause spot so i can focus on veilguard since i know i won't be able to finish it wednesday

I got a comment on one of my TS1 videos asking how I manage not to switch speeds while playing lol

well I stopped because I got a bunch of comments saying it was annoying, which I agree because my habit is to flip between 1 & 3 like literally every 10 seconds and it always makes that sound effect of course

the only reason I can do it is knowing I’m recording sorta locks me into focusing on the game & how I do things more than usual, so I’m more patient with letting things play out than when I’m not recording

that’s also why my videos aren’t about my legacy family or the custom hoods I usually play in, because I can only imagine playing those my “normal” way which is apparently really annoying for other people to watch lol
