OH MY STARS I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL- so Rant and Mutt can see souls 24/7 and have learned what each little change and reaction means. But in Stratum Rant wouldn’t know as much as Mutt does since he doesn’t go out much. With this in mind- when they’re older He would SEE that Traveler is in love with him BUT SINCE HE’S NEVER SEEN ROMANTIC ATTRACTION BEFORE HE HAS NO CLUE WHAT IT MEANS- only that it’s a warm/positive reaction to him. And since he sees her all the time he didn’t notice the slow shift from platonic love to romantic love- it’s just ‘how she feels about me/when she sees me’
