Gutters Repair Fundamentals Explained
A common rope length bundle like the Blue Water Assaultline I have is 46 meters/ 150 feet, but sizes can range anywhere from 30 meters to 60 meters. Fixed ropes are best for rappelling, rising and also for use in rescue scenarios where you're raising or decreasing an individual or tons.
There's additionally the alternative of linking a Swiss Seat from webbing or rope. I'll tell you up front that tubular webbing produces an extra comfy Swiss Seat. Technically though, with absolutely nothing more than rope and a carabiner you might possibly cut a 12-15' section off your rope, connect a swiss seat, connect a carabiner and also evacuate a building.
If you're already bring these things, a correct harness doesn't occupy that a lot more area as well as neither do gloves, webbing and also a few more carabiners for rigging anchors, yet I digress. It’s not considered, like, engagement/art theft?
I know with illustrations/drawings, it’s generally accepted that you can save art privately if you like - but if you want to share on social media you should 1. Share directly from the creators own post if it’s available on the platform 2. Get permission to repost if it’s not and 3. Always give credit.
And with videos on YouTube it’s considered best practice to link/embed the video directly. Downloading the video and uploading it elsewhere is considered stealing engagement (read:money) from the original creator.
But I think the financial model on TikTok might be different, so it matters less? The problem with reposting trad art is usually a combination of 1. Not properly crediting the artist (so people can’t find them through their art), 2. Keeping reactions/comments/engagement the artist might want to see in your notifications instead of theirs where they want it, 3. Because often art is commissioned/licensed where it’s not meant to be shared outside the original place it was posted.
So with that it’s usually best practice to ask.
And with YouTube you get ad revenue from views and the algorithm loves you when there’s engagement and shares, so it’s considered really bad form to rip the videos and post them elsewhere, even with a link to the original. But YouTube also embed neatly most places, so there’s usually literally no reason not to just embed the original except to be a click stealing asshole.
But with TikTok, I think popular creators actually make their money as “influencers” or from cameo and stuff? I don’t think they see any ad money from TikTok themselves, do they? And so the biggest thing is to get their name out there as much as possible - and their name is right on any video you download and upload elsewhere. AND the app literally provides for downloading - seems to encourage it - and has options to set download preferences, so I feel like, like you say, it might just be considered part of the territory. Like if you don’t want it downloaded and re-shared elsewhere, click that button. Otherwise, tacit permission is given. It seems like the biggest way it could hurt the creators is them not having knowledge of how far they’ve reached outside of TikTok, which could give them better revenue/opportunities when it comes to sponsors, and like with artists, them not getting to see who is engaging and what they are saying.
But I have no idea what the standard feeling of the usual TikTok-er is on this.
I have no idea what the ethics of reposting tiktoks is. None. Is it okay??? Like, as far as I can tell the app makes it possible for people to turn off the in-app video downloader, so if I can download the video is that, like, tacit approval from the creator to repost it off of tiktok? Or is that just the creator thinking I like to keep an archive or to share in private messages? Credit is included by default in the video itself because they always embed the username. But what’s the etiquette??? Sharing outside tiktok is bad, or share the video plus link, or put a disclaimer or what??? Obviously asking works, but that’s only if you get an answer and remember to check, plus I worry I’m bothering people over something I should already know. I know there are tumblrs that are basically just tiktoks, but aggregator tumblr often has a sketchy relationship with art theft and credit.

Making a (modest) living as a writer
By Elizabeth S. Craig
"I make a good deal more from my self-published books."
I used to feel like the sole, income-focused writer in any group I was in. I was the one on any panel hesitantly bringing up ways that writers could make money with their writing.
I’ve noticed now that there are more writers like me out there and I’m more relaxed about being a commercial fiction writer.
I’ve been asked by parents, college students, and high school students about what degree is needed for becoming a writer.
But that’s one of the wonderful things about being a writer. You don’t have to have a degree in anything.  I was an English major, but that’s as far as I went with it.  When asked for my advice, I ask what type of writing they’re wanting to do and what their end-goal/their child’s end-goal is.  If the goal is “a career in writing,” then I’ll go as far as to suggest that they don’t go the MFA (Master in Fine Arts) route. They should instead read as much and as widely as they can and start writing.
One common complaint about MFA programs is that writers aren’t trained in the business of writing or on writing for a market (as explained by writer Yi Shun Lai in “We Need to Talk About Money: Practicality’s Place in a Writing Education“.)
Writers at the start of their careers should ask themselves: am I writing to please myself or am I writing to appeal to a broader market? My kids are older and if I didn’t make a living at this, I’d be getting a day-job.  Writing is my full-time job.  I’m not making a ton, but I’m making more than if I taught school and more than I’d make at any other job; I’ve been out of the traditional workforce since my first child was born in 1997.
I do have 22 books on the market. This obviously helps.
Tips for making a (modest) living writing
It’s better, in the current environment, to self-pub instead of trad-pub (most of the time).  I experienced first-hand cutbacks that publishers are employing to save costs.  When I started out, 3-book deals were the norm at Penguin.  That unfortunately changed.  The merger between Penguin and Random House meant a layoff for my editor. Now there are many stories about how difficult it is getting to break into the industry and the market. It’s obviously still possible to do so…but at what cost?  I made and make a good deal more from my self-published books than my traditionally published books.
Write for the market–modified. I got lucky in this sense because cozy mysteries became popular with the public around the time that I became interested in writing them.  I love cozy mysteries and I love the books that I write.  What’s selling well in a genre that you enjoy reading?  I can’t recommend that you write in a genre you’re not very familiar with or that you wouldn’t enjoy writing. There are standards/norms/tropes in genres that readers expect and are looking for.  They provide a blueprint for your book and for a better chance at success.  Writers should read as much as possible in their chosen genre and absorb as much as they can to learn about pacing, character development, action, dialogue, and story arc.
Write series.  Series are currently more popular with readers.  I’m wondering if it’s because readers, once they’ve spent the time investing in the story world and characters, want to read more in that same story world.  Lucky for us–because series are easier and quicker to write for the same reasons: the story world is established, as well as the story’s recurring characters (descriptions, traits).  Most of the work is already done.
Write more than one book a year, if possible. Work smarter, not harder when it comes to the writing process.  If you’re not an outliner, see if you can at least come up with one sentence at the end of your writing day to give you a plan for the next morning.  What, basically, do you want to accomplish in the next session?  One sentence can give you much-needed focus the following day and help you write faster.
Again, work smarter, not harder when it comes to marketing.  Instead of knocking yourself out with marketing, focus instead on increasing visibility through tweaks of keywords and other metadata. Include links to your other books in your back matter.  Have a newsletter signup link in your email tagline, your website sidebar, and in the backs of your books (MailChimp is free for up to 2,000 subscribers). Whenever you have a new release, send out a newsletter to inform your readers.
Make sure your books are available to people in a variety of formats including online retailers, audio, and print (CreateSpace and Ingram - for international audiences and bookstores).
Consider other ways to generate income from your writing.  Create a Patreon page for tips from readers (read this excellent article from author John G. Hartness).  Consider public speaking and publish a page on your website indicating that you do speak to groups (for a fee). Author Joanna Penn outlines other ideas for multiple income streams in her post “Write Books You Love. Think Global. Consider Multiple Streams of Income.”
This approach isn’t for every writer and shouldn’t be for every writer. Some writers write purely for the love of writing and write to please themselves and those closest to them. Some write only for the love of producing art.  Sometimes those writers still have an amazing career that supports them financially.

some of my experience about searching fanarts in different languages medias
@noirerocket in conclusion that’s really frustrating fuck you the tower of babel
Tumblr media
1st of all sorry for long post with terrible english(& actually i know ALMOST NOTHING about korean). i’ll explain with pokemon go as an example below
pokemon go is special bcz it does have officially various languages version. it become even more complicated after korean version released, hope niantic will never release a chinese(what ever trad/simp) version or i’ll just die that’s fucking terrifying
officially we have 6(?) languages version of this app but leaders’ names are the same in En/Fr/De/Es/It so mostly the problem will be japanese & korean
as my 1st lang & a quite large fanart source i’ll cover chinese(as a language) - when talking about chinese its refer to taiwan & hong kong (or other chinese users in released regions) mostly bcz mainland still not available to play & PMGo fanart from mainland are not common in their medias
japanese & korean & chinese has different character system & that’s almost not possible to even input them in translation site & you’ll think you are an alien hi welcome to the earth
in the very beginning you must know the whole list of terms/names & its translations in different language:
from Bulbapedia (beware ‘blanche’ in korean mostly recorded as 블랑쉬)
my earlier post about korean terms/names translation
as stated before chinese has NO official translation yet (except 寶可夢 for pokemon - but we hate this translation name) so mostly chinese fandom just use leaders’ english name instead & it makes searching fanarts from chinese become extremely easy
chinese fandom not translate teams/leaders names bcz it sounds “weird”... we usually directly use english team names instead
but be aware of special saying that’s quite common in japanese/chinese(idk if korean & other eu langs are common or not) talking about teams in COLOR instead:
(team )instinct: 黄(チーム)/黃(隊)
(team )mystic:青(チーム)/藍(隊)
(team )valor: 赤(チーム)/紅(隊)
when searching (team) leader(リーダー/隊長/리더) you may just added these after the team name (in chinese there’s a little bit tricky - for example blanche -  both 藍隊長/藍隊隊長 is acceptable)
let’s put languages aside bcz the next problem is WHICH (social) medias(refer to the title). yes this’s really important to know where the artists mostly post their works so you can find them accordingly. that’s my searching priority in general:
twitter (easiest to post sth but sometime not with tags/content)
tumblr (many artists already working here, tags/content problems)
pixiv/deviantart & others art posting site (primary source)
instagram/facebook & other social medias (less original & some repost)
2nd source like google image & discussion boards/pics posting sites etc
usually english users & europe languages users are more commonly sharing the same pool bcz these languages are easier to be interpreted by each others (as well as inputting them in translation site)
for japanese/korean/chinese only social media that’s dozens of them & usually quite hard to reach but usually can found the fanart inside via google image search so just keep calm & let google do it for you (if pages are limited to members may try read via cache)
here’s keywords for me searching blanche related materials(for limiting result +“pokemon/ポケモン/포켓몬” or simply “go” in keywords):
blanche/ブランシェ/블랑쉬
(team/leader )mystic/(チーム/ リーダー)ミスティック/(팀/리더 )미스틱
藍隊(長)/青チーム(seems only chinese & japanese said ‘team blue”)
add “#” before to search in hashtag(that’s common knowledge); not only english have space between words also korean so you may need add “_” as space when searching in twitter
i think most of you are already so familiar to tags system in twitter/tumblr & know their different, unlike me - tumblr has the best tags system bcz it allows space between words. twitter & pixiv only allows joined words (eg “pokemongo”, “teammystic”)
for those good in math please calculate the sum of these combinations with & without hashtag & space in different languages. & these are for searching blanche’s fanart only.
for very fast updated media like twitter need to check these in latest & photos (same in facebook) at least every day - scrolling dozens pages in a single search. & that’s what i have to do this in tumblr(only!) when pokemon go fandom is really really hot. that’s really frustrating.
i’d like to talk a little bit about manners on search/repost/comment in different language based fanarts. i think this is really important to keep sustainable development in fanarts so please try your best to do so.
1st of all, repost with credit (primary source) is a universal gold standard. when you get a fanart with unknown credit, please check the sign/watermark on that pic, or repost comment, or danbooru style image board usually given source’s url in information
simply drag an image file/c&p a pic link into google image search(search by image) & let it find for you is an effective way to search pics’ primary source. i’m using sauceNAO for primary source searching. it’s available in chrome extension(it’s extremely useful). also you may also try other reverse image search engine alternatives
usually repost with credit (at least artist’s name, with their blog/art posting page is prefered) is accepted by most artist. but when the artist stated repost is not allowed, please be respectful. also not to use fanarts as material or even process/print without permission.
in my experience, japanese artists are EXTREMELY sensitive to any repost/use/comment by any languages except japanese(they’re usually not even good in english). they usually require permission for any repost/use of their art, so be careful not to do any of this if you cannot write japanese fluently (they can find those translated out easily). if you really wish to please write in very simple & short english with very polite tone. don’t forget to introduce yourself & where you prepare to repost/use.
i think chinese artists are better in english so usually have less problem (or maybe i'm just the only quite care free one). i’m not familiar to korean fandom so... if anyone knows please kindly leave comment in this post i won’t bite (lying on floor asking for belly rub)
for reference only: extra set of english/chinese leaders/teams’ names translation(meanings definitely given from google translate). they’re only seen in news & almost not used by fandom (at least in fanart)
leader's’ name (former are translated by meaning, latter are by pronunciation)
blanche:  白/白雪 & 布蘭奇/布蘭琪
candela:  燭光/燭珖 & 坎德拉
spark: 火花/星火/電光 & 斯帕克/斯巴克/史巴克
teams’ names (meanings only)
mystic: 神秘
valor: 英勇/勇氣/勇猛/猛勇
instinct: 本能/直覺
... so you guys now understand why i’m so reluctant to chinese translation right?

No, no, Madara is still just dropping by this often to confirm his suspicions about Tobirama’s crappy parental abilities. Yup.

Being me, baby-verse is of course a MadaTobi verse ;p
Madara, realising Tobirama came home from a mission with a little baby, is sure that cold hearted over logical asshole of a Senju can’t have the warmth and compassion it takes to be a parent. He try to argue against it, to no avail. So, he takes to suddenly showing up at all times of the day to catch Tobirama out to be a bad father, unfit and uncaring.
That’s not what he see, though.
