Even though he wasn't in his world at the moment, he still talked about things from his world. Most of the people he knew in this place knew he wasn't from here. Especially most of the witches and other supernaturals. Geralt somehow knew immediately he wasn't from here just by how he was dressed the first time he arrived.
A couple of months ago, during one of his stops, he decided to rent a large room from a kind couple. He decorated it up, upgraded the bed, and managed to find a place to put a desk so he could work on his weapons when he needed to.
When he'd met Shani they'd become fast friends. He'd explained to her what he was, how Living Vampires differ from this world's vampires, where he was from, his partners, and things about his world.
And there had been absolutely no doubt that Tolaas was attracted to Shani. But he wasn't about to proceed to do anything without her consent.
Now, as she stitched him up, he kept his attention on her, not the wound. "Yeah, which means whoever it was that shot me wasn't from here, either," he frowned.
He had quite a mystery on his hands.
"I know, Shani, thanks," he grinned. He knew she was teasing him; he didn't even have to check her aura.

"Hold still. This may sting a bit..."
Well, she knew it would sting more than a bit, but it also depended on the other's pain tolerance. Shani gently dabbed at the wound on the other's bicep, making sure to be gentle enough but doing her best to clean out the wound efficiently.
There were a few moments of silence between them as she worked, until her blue eyes rose to meet the other's gaze and she paused. "....you holding up alright?"

Tolaas watched her work on the bullet wound with interest. At least the bullet had been through and through, so there had been no need for her to try to remove a bullet.
He grinned at her, his fangs glinted. "Yeah, I'm okay, darlin'," he said to her. "Ain't the first time I been shot tryin' ta help someone, sure as hell ain't gonna be the last."
His eyes roamed over her fiery red hair. Tolaas had always had a thing for redheads. He had a thing for Shani, too, which was probably obvious, but he hadn't acted on it. Which was just a little strange for him, because he usually always told those who were the objects of his affection that he liked them. This time, he'd remained silent. But he didn't try to hide how he felt. He just hadn't said anything.
"Hey, Shani? Thanks fer bringin' yer little bag ta make a house call," he laughed. "Normally I can stitch myself up out in the field,"he said. "But I figured i'd call a professional. Didn't wanna go ta Anubis 'gain, cause I'm tired a'him blowin' jars a dirt in my face ta numb me up," he laughed lightly. "An' yanno I can't exactly go ta a hospital. Can't have 'em keepin' records a'my visits."
His brown eyes watched her face as she worked, and then they drifted downward back to his wound and how her hands were delicately taking care of it.

Tolaas nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I do. I'll figgure it out, though, eventually." He tilted his head as he watched her work. Then he chuckled. "Darlin', I been doing shit like this fer years, I ain't gonna die. Not anytime soon, anyway."
He loved watching er work, the way her hands moved. They moved steadily, but quickly; she knew exactly what she was doing. Of course, she'd done this thousands of times. He wondered if people got the same fascination from watching him when he sewed up his own wounds when he was 'in the field' and couldn't get to Anubis to help.
An eyebrow cocked up and the laugehd light. "Shani... I'm a vampire. It ain't gonna take no month for this ta heal. A week, maybe 10 days, if'n I can't find a donor to feed from, a few days at most if'n I can."
A smirk formed on his lips. "I ain't wearin' no sling, darlin'," he said, grinning. "I cannot do what I need ta be doin' with one arm outta commission. I do promise I'll be as careful as I can an' try not ta strain it 'till it heals."
Tolaas locked his deep brown eyes on Shani's blue ones. Then they flicked down to her lips, maybe for a little too long. They were so close right now, all he would have to do was close the distance.
He flicked his eyes back to hers. He glanced down, moving his hand to gently cover hers. "Shani, uhm..." His words came out quietly. This was ridiculous. He had several partners, and he was never shy about telling them how he felt. So, why was he afraid of tripping over his words now?
"I... like it when you come by," he said, looking up into her eyes again. "I like yer company; like havin' ya 'round." His voice was soft and sincere.
Just. Ask!
He moved his face a little closer to hers. Close enough to kiss her. He even tilted his head slightly, but he moved no further. "Shani, can I kiss ya?" he asked, his voice so quiet. His eyes searched hers, waiting for an answer.

Shani was always asking random questions now and again. As if she really wanted to know all about him. Which he guessed that could be true. When most people met him, they wanted to know about him - about his being a vampire, or Living Vampire, more accurately. He didn't mind though. If people wanted to know, he'd tell them.
"No, I need ta thank ya 'cause ya shouldn't hafta come over here in the middle a'the night just 'cause I asked." He nodded at her words and readied himself.
He winced. "Ow!" he said, looking at her and then at the bullet wound. "Careful," he said, pouting. Why was it that the fixing up of the wound always hurt more than the wound itself? One of life's eternal questions. Probably because men were babies when they hurt themselves. Tolaas would very much admit it when he got hurt. Even though he'd try to brush it off, he never argued when someone told him to get a wound looked at or they wanted to care for him for a while, or anything as such. He had learned a couple of centuries ago that having someone who wanted to willingly take care of you was a good thing. And the current partners he had all had that quality.
"I don't wanna mention what I was savin' her from, but when I knocked the bastard to the ground and held him down, ready to knock out a coupla teeth, he pulled a gun an' shot me in the arm to make me let go a'him. It looked like a regular pistol ta me."
He glanced down at Shani's hands. Her hands were so gentle with what she was doing; articulate and soft. But she knew exactly what she was doing, and it was something Tolaas appreciated. Her discretion was appreciated, as well.
Tolaas' thoughts were really on her hands, though. How soft they were and how he'd like to feel them on his body. He didn't say this, of course, mainly because she was working. But the thought was there.
Of course, it wasn't surprising that Tolaas liked her, as he was constantly flirting with her. Not at the moment, however, as she was quite busy and concentrating, and he didn't want to interrupt that.

Tolaas noticed her hesitation for sure. It made him stop closing the gap between them, but he couldn't bring himself to pull back any more than he already had.
He brought one hand up and tenderly brushed strings of red hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. He crooked his finger and placed it under her chin, gently raising her head so he could make eye contact again.
He held her eyes, soft and sure his own were. "Shani, I'm polyamorous. Even here, ya musta heard a'the word? Many loves. I try ta form deep, emotional an' romantic connections with more'n one person. At the same time. I been this way since 'afore they had a word fer it."
Offering a soft smile, he continued. "They all know 'bout each other. There ain't no lyin', no cheatin' - nothin' but open an' honest communication. Some a'my partners have other partners themselves. I don't deal in jealousy, either. I have never been jealous over any a'my partners bein' with others. An' a lotta 'em have met each other, too." He shook his head. "So no, no issues."
The corners of his mouth flicked upward into a kid and sincere smile. "I won't ever lie ta ya, Shani. I care way too much fer ya ta do such a thing," he said, still holding her eyes."
He hesitated for a moment, inhaling deeply, then exhaling slowly. He'd always been honest before, with everyone he cared for, so he was going to be completely honest with Shani. "Shani, I..." He inhaled again, searching her eyes. "I think I might've stared ta fall fer ya." H chuckled once. "Not sure exactly when it started happenin', but I can feel it..."
With one finger, he reached up and pressed it gently against her lips to hush her before she had a chance to speak. "I don't expect nothin' from ya, Shani." He lightly shook his head. "I don't expect ya ta reciprocate. If'n ya feel the same, even a li'l, then great. That's wonderful. But if'n ya don't, an' ya can't, that's fine too. No matter how ya feel er what ya decide, I just wanna be part a'yer life. Even if'n that nothin' more'n a friend."
He reached up and cupped her cheek, his thumb almost lovingly rubbing back and forth against it.

Tolaas kept his eyes on her as she seemed to debate whether being with him was a good idea or not. Her aura told him she was conflicted, hesitant, and his empathic abilities told him that she held affection for him, but there was a little fear there.
He took both of her hands in his, brought them to his lips, and kissed them. "As I told ya 'afore, Shani, I don't expect nothin' from ya." His head shook lightly. "If bein' with me ain't somethin' ya think ya can handle, I'll understand, an' I ain't gonna hold it 'gainst ya."
There was a slow nod. "I know it's different, somethin's ya prolly ain't used ta. Which I can understand, an' ya don't hafta jump inta anythin' taday, 'specially if'n ya need time. I can wait, believe me," he chuckled.
He leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers. "Just know that no matter what ya decide, how ya decide this... I ain't ever gonna love ya less'n anybody else, even if'n I hafta keep that emotion outta my mouth."
He raised his head to look into her eyes. "Yer special ta me, Shani. Yer smart, yer fierce," he laughed, "an' yer beautiful." Once more, he lifted his hand to cup her cheek. With his thumb, he gently traced around her lips. "But no matter what ya decide, I'll just be happy ta be a part'a yer life." He offered a gentle smile.
Desperately, he wanted to close the gap between them and kiss her, but given what their discussion was currently about, he held off. He'd let her make that move if she wanted to.
