Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Our first hybrid!! I was so excited when I first started playing Titan Uprising and found out there was hybrid dragon breeding. I wanted to see what a Skrill and Stormcutter crossbreed was like only to find out there are NONE!! IN THE GAME!! HUH!!

Shirai doesn't really talk about it much outside of the text itself, which is a shame. The most attention paid to them is in this segment in the third chapter of the mystic code book:

And this is mostly just a summary of what the characters talk about during Goldy Pond.

There's also this little segment of the art book that briefly touches upon the Grace Field Demon Boss' and Yverk's designs:

I'm also going to use this as another opportunity to promote @puff-poff's demon anthropology posts (found here and here) because, while not official, they're the most comprehensive analysis I've come across regarding the subject.

And then this panel from chapter 77 might be of interest. You could interpret it as some demons using an adhesive akin to spirit gum to help keep their masks in place, which is interesting if you want to further explore mask etiquette.

FOTD #050 : turkey tail! (trametes versicolor)

the turkey tail bracket is a white-rot fungus. it commonly grows in tiled layers in groups or rows on logs & stumps of deciduous trees, & is common in north america (but also occurs in other environments of the world !!). it is famous for its medicinal uses :-)

the big question : can i bite it??

no - it is inedible.

t. versicolor description :

"the top surface of the cap shows typical concentric zones of different colours, & the margin is always the lightest. underneath a layer of tomentum is a black layer, topping the whitish flesh. the flesh itself is 1–3 mm thick & has a leathery texture. the mushroom is stalkless & the cap is rust-brown or darker brown, sometimes with black zones. the cap is flat, up to 8 × 5 x 0.5–1 cm in area. it is often triangular or round, with zones of fine hairs. the pore surface is whitish to light brown, with pores round & with age twisted & labyrinthine. 3–8 pores per millimetre."
