Star Wars Karaoke Preferences Part 1 - Clones
Howdy!
This is a little something that @eyecandyeoz and myself put together. We were chatting about what we thought each star war character would sing on karaoke night, and this is what we came up with! We have also included links to the songs, so that you can picture them singing it in your minds eye.
Part 1 is dedicated to our brave clone troopers. There's some proper bangers in here! Also we will not be explaining why we chose each song. This is the hill we are willing to die on.

Burn the House Down
essay by Olivia McDougall ⌂
IT WAS 2006 in the heart of New York City. The New York Knicks failed to make the play-offs for the third consecutive year. President George W. Bush’s approval rating had hit at an all-time low. Panic! at the Disco released “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” and Justin Timberlake performed “SexyBack” on the MTV Video Music Awards—hosted by Jack Black—at Radio City Music Hall. For the American people, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times… and three young kids were out pursuing their dream in the streets of Manhattan.
Adam, Ryan, and Jack Metzger were trying their hand at busking in Central Park and Washington Square. The youngest at nine years old, Jack led vocals while his older brothers backed him with instrumentals. The boys played covers of songs old and new, anything to get enough money for new instruments with which to experiment. The brothers spent many years on street corners serenading strangers, earning their 10,000 hours. In the following years, when YouTube started gaining traction, the boys put up videos of their covers: more and more inventive spins on pop songs. Jack and Ryan also started trying their hand at writing, directing, and acting in their own little sketches for video content. At that time, the boys had very few followers, but nonetheless continued to play, to save up, to buy more equipment, to make more music.
As they grew, the boys were exposed to their parents’ old records and the sounds of a very different generation influenced their style. The Beach Boys; the Beatles; Peter, Paul, and Mary among many others inspired them, but more contemporary artists like Kanye West also came into play. Later, while eldest brother Adam pursued his degree at Columbia University, the younger two brothers took note of sampling—the music trend of artists taking sound clips and reusing them in their songs. Jack mentioned to his brotherhow cool it would be if someone sampled Spongebob Squarepants on a track.
“Well, why don’t we do it?” was Ryan’s reply.
In spring of 2013, the brothers, naming themselves AJR after their own initials, released a video of their first single “I’m Ready.” The song sampled the popular Spongebob catchphrase, and became a classic, upbeat, dance-floor pop song. The brothers sent the link to their video to several celebrities over Twitter, until famous singer-songwriter Sia noticed them and passed it along to her manager. The song was then commercially released that summer and began to see regular radio play, and the band was labeled as the next up and comers in the music scene.
After “I’m Ready,” AJR released a five song EP of the same name. Their first song continued to grow, receiving millions of views on YouTube and going platinum in Canada and Australia. The brothers continued to create music (and go to school; the eldest was only in his early twenties at this time), releasing another single and EP titled Infinity in 2014. The majority of the band’s music was pop songs, easy to listen to with familiar rhythms and lyrics of love and youth. Remarkably, the boys chose to mix and record all their own music in their NYC apartment living room, instead of paying for studio time. Paying homage to their workspace and independence, the band released their first album Living Room in 2015. Except for some bouncier, odd-duck tracks like “Big Idea” and “Thirsty,” most of the songs fit the same earlier patterns of the pop genre. However, in 2016, the band experienced the shift that would change their music career forever.
Before the What Everyone’s Thinking EP came out, AJR had little recognition beyond their break-out hit. However, the tracks on the latest EP sounded entirely evolved from the brother’s previous style. The lyrics were brimmed with honesty, abandoning the emptiness of many other pop tunes. The boys sang about missing out on their friends while pursuing their dreams, about being unsure about what love means, about not trying so hard to be cool, about being human. Their style of composition had also matured. The band would release videos on how they made their songs, revealing that they took whatever strange sound they could make and mix it however they could to make it new and interesting. They had people who were not musicians or artists, such as their ever supportive father, come in and sing to add a new dimension to their songs. They used something they called “spokestep,” a technique of recording a someone singing, then cutting it up over a beat in editing. They continued to utilize sampling, taking bits of anything from Fountains of Wayne to yodeling competitions. The EP was well-received with hundreds of messages from fans who deeply related to the music. This was all the push the brothers needed to keep writing freely, and not what they thought would sell.
On June 9th, 2017, the three brothers dropped the album that would unknowingly launch their music career to a unimaginable level. Several songs on the album made it to regular radio play, giving the band more recognition and growing their dedicated fan base. The Click clearly communicated AJR’s desire to get real in their music, with songs about the detached feelings of growing up or distaste toward the typical party scene. One of their most successful songs, “Sober Up,” featured Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and paved the way for more collaborations with artists such as Steve Aoki and Lil Yachty. The band had been on tours before, playing small venues where the opener drew more fans than they, but now they began to sell out everywhere. The kids who had been playing to no one on street corners now began to sing for thousands.
Shortly after their album The Click debuted, AJR announced that they had been asked to create the theme for Supersize Me 2: Holy Chicken, a documentary attempting to expose the fast food industry’s lax safety regulations. The band had been asked to write for other people before, but never for a movie. The theme song, “Burn the House Down,” would live to surpass its original purpose and become the honest encapsulation of the political attitudes of its time. “Burn the House Down” expresses the band’s indecision to either “keep things light” or to get involved in important issues. The song, with compelling lyrics such as “Or should I march with every stranger from Twitter to get shit done? / Used to hang my head low / Now I hear it loud / Every stranger from Twitter is gonna burn this down” further cemented the band’s dedication to revolution and their abandonment of passivity. The song called out deception plaguing the media cycle and public affairs, and the need to burn it all down in order to expose the truth.

The election of Donald Trump in 2016 acted as a catalyst for various protest movements around the country. Marches have occurred on the White House doorstep since the signing of the Constitution, but the Trump administration triggered a marked influx. Beyond Washington, protests like the Women’s March and National Pride March were seen nation-wide. People from all over rallied together to advocate for science and evidenced-based policies, for immigrant’s rights and racial justice, for transparency over Russian involvement in elections, and even for the publication of Trump’s tax returns. People, especially those liberal-leaning, felt that their voices weren’t being heard and that the President was not reflective of their values. Change in politics is gradual and incremental, but it felt like everyday a new injustice was being thrown at the American people. Families were being separated at the border, more evidence that Russia swayed the 2016 election came to light, allegations of sexual abuse from the President were revealed, racism, sexism, and hate seem to run rampant and unchecked, and overall many people felt disheartened and disgusted with the state of the nation. So, with the power of social media, users of popular sites such as Facebook and Twitter planned protests. The marches drew thousands of people together, uniting many for a common cause. Today’s youth, often labeled as lazy and entitled, came together in the March for Our Lives, an empowering result from one of many tragic school shootings. High-schoolers fed up with feeling unsafe on their campuses advocated for stricter gun control laws and led the biggest youth rally since the Vietnam War, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of people. Americans refused to take anything sitting down and demonstrated their needs loudly to those in charge.
The effectiveness of these protests is a tricky one to determine, as many perceived different goals for the marches. Some believe getting people out on the streets and building a community of like-minded people is a strong start, but others think success is nothing less than immediate change and tangible evidence that they have been heard. Further, some argue that current protests lack the solid political backing that are required to enact true change, and that the marches will never be as powerful as they mean to be without that factor. However, even though many of the things modern protests have demanded have yet to come to fruition, it does not necessarily mean the marches have been for naught. Many of the marches throughout history that today are viewed as world-shattering did not see the change they were fighting for immediately. Politics take time, and the justice and change in policies the people demand to see might still be a long time coming. However, it is necessary to take up the fight, for the people to demonstrate that enough is enough.
Protest songs in the past like “Fortunate Son” by Credence Clearwater Revival or “The Times They are A-Changin” by Bob Dylan rallied people for their cause, stoking the flames of change in hearts across the nation. Music was a way for artists to contribute to the fight, giving a voice to those silenced and reflecting the opinions of the oppressed or wronged. Protest songs today have the same effect, uniting thousands to sing in one voice and empowering movements. “Burn the House Down” provides a battlecry for a whole new generation of people. It is a warning of accountability for those in the corrupt establishment; the harbingers will burn it down.

Top 10 Personal Favorite Hit Songs from 2006
Tumblr media
17 to 18 years old. First to second university year, studying History. Another slightly chaotic year, to be honest.
It’s yet another great year for hits, even if 2005 and 2007 are both even better.
Disclaimers:
Keep in mind I’m using both the year-end top 100 lists from the US and from France while making these top 10 things. There’s songs in English that charted in my country way higher than they did in their home countries, or even earlier or later, so that might get surprising at times.
Of course there will be stuff in French. We suck. I know. It’s my list. Deal with it.
My musical tastes have always been terrible and I’m not a critic, just a listener and an idiot.
I have sound to color synesthesia which justifies nothing but might explain why I have trouble describing some songs in other terms than visual ones.
At this point it was beginning to be clear that my mother wanted me out of the appartment as quickly as possible so staying at home was becoming more and more unpleasant. I basically spent most of my day outside or at the library when I wasn’t in class, then ate dinner and slept at home. I had a few friends at university but was very unpopular (by the start of the second year, my nickname was “the hobo”, mostly because I was always wearing the same old black coat and bad jeans, but also because I liked to fish for coins under vending machines cause I had next to no money). I also had a brief but extremely bad relationship that year, which ended with me punching the dude back after he punched me between two classes near the end of the year.
While making these lists I found a tape labelled “spring 2006″ and nothing else. I think it’s one of the last tapes I ever made.
Tumblr media
After listening to it, it contained:
Mr Brightside (The Killers) (who’s surprised?)
Crazy, by Seal, but sung by a woman. No idea who that is. (Edit: Alanis Morissette! thank you purplecyborgnewt)
Alice & June (Indochine)
You And Me (Lifehouse)
A couple of seconds of Precious, Depeche Mode
Oui (Zazie)
Precious (Depeche Mode) again. A radio host states it’s the n°15 favorite song on Europe 2 that week, whichever week that was.
City of Blinding Lights (U2)
Nolwenn Ohwo (Nolwenn Leroy)
Fragment of Song to Say Goodbye (Placebo), then the entire song.
The ending of Talk (Coldplay), followed by another fragment of Talk
Juste Après (Fredericks, Goldman & Jones)
Talk (Coldplay), this time in its entirety (I can still smell the frustration more than 13 years away)
Broken (Seether)
Enjoy the Silence 2004 (Depeche Mode)
Fragment of Missing (Evanescence), followed by nearly the entire song
Jeune et Con (Saez)
A bit of a radio show I found funny
An obscure remix of Sans Contrefaçon (Mylène Farmer).
So yeah, I stopped making tapes around that time. I also only bought two cd singles that year.
Tumblr media
Just like the previous year, some of my favorite albums from that year have exactly zero singles elligible for this list. They are Alice & June by Indochine, and Meds by Placebo. The worst part? One of the best songs on Indochine’s album is a goddamn duet with Brian Molko from Placebo. It’s called Pink Water and it’s great. Please listen to it if you don’t know it yet. What can I say, I’m a weak and simple person, I hear a duet between two singers I adore, and I die instantly.
Anyway. Meds is kind of underrated as far as Placebo’s discography goes and I’m especially fond of Infrared, which was one of the songs of the year for me. Indochine’s Alice & June, meanwhile, is a concept double album about two girls making a suicide pact. It’s a bit of a mess and it’s not as tight as Paradize was but it’s still really, really good for the most part. The first eponymous single should have been elligible. But it isn’t. I’m sad.
On to the honorable mentions!
So Sick (Ne-Yo) - Usually this kind of music just sounds bland to me, but that one was really pleasant.
Miracle (Cascada) - Not as good as Everytime we touch. Still a lot of fun.
Smack That (Akon) - This shouldn’t be this catchy.
Pump It (Black Eyed Peas) - Same here.
Living On Video (Pakito) - I only just now realised this was a cover. What the hell.
SOS (Rihanna) - Not her best song. Still good.
L’Amour N’est Rien (Mylène Farmer) - Really funny lyrics, meh song.
World Hold On (Bob Sinclar) - Stay tuned for more.
Hips Don’t Lie (Shakira) - Song of the summer, whether you liked it or not. Fortunately, I liked it a lot.
Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol) - Very pleasant.
SexyBack (Justin Timberlake) - That beat is just incredible.
Call Me When You’re Sober (Evanescence) - I remember Rock Mag finishing their KarmaCode (Lacuna Coil) review with “We hope Evanescence’s next album will be fantastic, because this is their most serious rival yet.” And nope, Evanescence’s album wasn’t nearly as good as KarmaCode. But this song still made the year-end list, while nothing from Lacuna Coil ever crossed over. Our Truth SHOULD have been a huge hit. It had a ton of crossover appeal. One of the biggest musical tragedies of the year right there. Oh well, the Evanescence single is still good though.
Say It Right (Nelly Furtado & Timbaland) - The last cut from the list, and when you’ll see what replaced it, you are going to hate me.
And now, the top ten.
10 - Everytime We Touch (Cascada)
US: #31 / FR: #5
Tumblr media
This kicked Nelly Furtado off the list.
I am not sorry, just so you know.
9 - Ridin’ (Chamillionaire)
US: #8 / FR: Not on the list
Tumblr media
This is a song about respecting the law and driving at a reasonable speed and cops being mad because they can’t do anything against you. He’s a gangster, just... not doing anything illegal at the moment. I absolutely adore that concept. This is the best.
8 - Crazy (Gnarls Barkley)
US: #7 / FR: #29
Tumblr media
I’ve never met someone who disliked this song, and for that reason I have nothing to say about it. It’s just one of these tunes, like Hey Ya, which are too perfect to argue or say anything constructive about them.
7 - Temperature (Sean Paul)
US: #2 / FR: #48
Tumblr media
Half of this top ten 10 is made of absolute bangers with untouchable beats and you know what, I really miss that time, mostly because the current charts are morose and depressed (for good reasons, but still). This is no Get Busy, but come on, who can say we need less Sean Paul in our lives? Not me that’s for sure.
By the way, one of the very first videos I saw on (the very new at the time) youtube was a misheard lyrics version of this song. I think you all know which one it is, the original has been deleted but it was reuploaded several times since then.
6 - Rock This Party (Bob Sinclar & Cutee B)
US: Not on the list / FR: #19
Tumblr media
You really can’t go wrong with this “Everybody dance now” sample, and this is one seriously kickass song, and yet another banger on a list already full of them. Also, this was possibly the best music video of the entire year, featuring three kids trying to imitate music videos from just about every popular genre. Check it out if you’ve never seen it, it will make your day.
5 - Marly-Gomont (Kamini)
US: Not on the list / FR: #1
Tumblr media
Possibly the most unexpected hit song of the decade in my country. Basically, this guy made a rap song about the tiny rural village he was living in, and a funny music video shot on a 100€ budget to show to his friends and family. And it was well written. And it was hilarious, while still being insightful. And it became a viral sensation. And it charted! And suddenly it became the biggest hit of the year.
If you’ve never heard it, here it is. There was no translation available for it on lyricstranslate, so I made an account just to translate it myself. You’re welcome. Please give it a try. It’s great. It was a hit for a good reason, and I promise you the music video is funny even if you don’t speak the language.
4 - Slipping Away/Crier la Vie (Mylène Farmer & Moby)
US: Not on the list / FR: #15
Tumblr media
So, uh, earlier in this post I said “What can I say, I’m a weak and simple person, I hear a duet between two singers I adore, and I die instantly.”
This is a duet between Mylène Farmer and Moby, based on a song from Hotel, which, if you recall, I listened to on a loop the previous year.
My poor heart didn’t need this. What did I do to deserve this. What a blessing.
3 - Over My Head (Cablecar) (The Fray)
US: #13 / FR: Not on the list
Tumblr media
This was my #1 at some point. Then I realised the version I kept listening to was a punk rock version by A Day To Remember from Punk Goes Pop, and that I had nearly forgotten what the original sounded like. So I listened to it, and it’s still very, very nice, but it’s not quite the same.
I still bought the album, though.
2 - Nolwenn Ohwo (Nolwenn Leroy)
US: Not on the list / FR: #43
Tumblr media
I had completely (and I do mean completely) forgotten about this song until I started to check the French year-end top 100 to make this list. Erased from my mind entirely by some sort of MiB neuralyser. And I was like “hang on, wasn’t this a good song? This rings a bell. I used to love it, didn’t I?” (and sure enough, it’s on that 2006 tape I found). So I wrote it down for the honorable mentions, just in case.
Before making the definitive list, I put the song on, and I felt like the critic in Ratatouille having a flashback.
Holy. Shit.
I remembered ALL the lyrics. While listening to it, in under three minutes I successively put it in the 6th spot, then the 4th, and when it ended, it was #2 on the list. I downloaded it and put it back on my mp3 player and on my playlists. I’ve listened to it about 30 times in the past week. It’s so great. How did I ever forget this song existed. I feel so alive.
I never cared about this singer, but this is written by Laurent Voulzy, who’s music I actually love, and he’s firing on all cylinders here. Just listen to it. Please.
It could have easily topped the list if it wasn’t for the most useful and helpful song in the entire year.
1 - Pas le Temps (Faf Larage)
US: Not on the list / FR: #2
Tumblr media
I never watched a single episode of Prison Break. This was the French version of the opening song. I don’t even know what happens in the series. I don’t really care.
I. Adore. This song. It’s yet another #1 that helped me a lot.
The beat is untouchable and this rap is actual poetry. Not even remotely kidding. Here’s a part of one of the verses.
Aussi loin que la lumière semble s'éteindre (As far as the light seems to flicker) Seule une étincelle au fond de moi peut l'atteindre (Only the spark hidden inside of me can reach it) (...) Les dés sont jetés, rien n'est joué (the dice is tossed, the game is set) Même le sort retient son souffle piégé dans ce sablier (even fate holds its breath, trapped in this hourglass) J'ai décidé de ne pas être prisonnier (I decided I wouldn’t be a prisoner) J'n'ai que ma vie à offrir si jamais j'échouais (I only have my life to offer if I ever fail) Pas le choix faut y'aller (No choice, let’s go)
The line “pas le choix, faut y aller” (no choice, let’s go) keeps being repeated in the entire song and it’s so, SO motivational. As I said before, 2006 was not as bad as 2003 but it was still a difficult year - at the end of it, I was an adult with no money, very little hope for the future, no diploma yet apart from the highschool one, still trying to NOT become a ball of anger because of a couple of assholes in class, all of this with dysphoria and a mother who wanted to kick me out as soon as possible. And I wanted to win, and punch the world, and say here I come, I’m alive, I survived, better watch out.
Si je dois exceller, tout donner, prendre c'que j'peux (If I need to be the best, give everything, take whatever I can) Si le monde m'appartient restez pas au milieu (If the world is mine, don’t stay in my way) Et si le sort est contre moi c'est tant pis (And if fate is against me, too bad) On fait des plans pour s'en sortir, écoute (We’re making plans to survive, listen) Pas le choix faut y'aller (No choice, let’s go)
This song defined the entire year for me. This was my fight song. Everytime I wanted to give up, it was there to give me a very simple reminder.
No choice. Let’s go.
Next up: here it is, at last, the absolute best hit song of the decade

Top 25 Songs of 2019 #21: “Lights Up” by Harry Styles
Tumblr media
youtube
For decades, there’s been two primary models for becoming an insanely successful breakout star of a boy band: Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
Both immediately teamed up with genius producers/writers who’d give them catchy tunes and ultra-modern dance beats (Quincy Jones, the Neptunes/Timbaland). Both became conquering titans of their respective decades of pop. And Timberlake immediately pivoted looks-wise from “cute boy band member” to “grown and sexy.” (MJ was more complicated in that regard.) Their personas were quite different, but there was a clear formula.
Harry Styles, One Direction’s most successful former member (apologies to Zayn, who’s looking more and more like a one-hit-wonder), has ignored that formula. He’s not following any trends by trying to sound like Post Malone or Billie Eilish — he makes intentionally old-school dad rock. He hasn’t inspired any copycats in mainstream pop. And yes, Styles has definitely embraced his own sex appeal, but it’s in his own artsy, androgynous way, with pastel-colored outfits, nail polish and spectacular wide-legged pants.
“Lights Out” is a perfect example of how unique Styles’ approach to pop stardom is. It’s an unusually-structured song with occasional bursts of a gospel choir, a woozy, psychedelic beat, and an abrupt ending. It’s no “SexyBack.” But these quirky choices make for a memorable song. Despite barely having a chorus, there’s plenty of small, subtle hooks to be found here. Styles himself displays a quiet confidence that takes other artists many years to develop. And his reverence for Baby Boomer-era music is balanced out nicely with an urge to tweak those traditions.
Styles isn’t a normal popstar in any way — the fact that he lags behind the more conventional (and boring) Shawn Mendes on the charts attests to that. But as long as he continues to make Millennial dad rock that’s this good, I imagine he’ll continue to have a memorable career.

Future Sex/Love Sounds: Shimmering Synths of Ecstasy and Submission
In September 2006, Justin Timberlake released his sophomore album FutureSex/LoveSounds, and I'm not surprised that it still holds up well in 2019. It did not just score another goal, it changed the game. A bold departure from the warm, synthesized soul that Pharrell Williams’ Neptunes produced on Justified, FutureSex/LoveSounds was steely and sweaty, a universal dance opus that made room for intimacy. It is dark and dirty to begin and smooth and sexy to finish.
Tumblr media
The album also had adult themes and f-bombs, speeding up the transition from Curly-Haired Boy to Shaved-Head Man for Timberlake. It's steelier and sexier and more neurotic than its predecessor, Justified and even it's successor, The 20/20 Experience.
It isn't an easy listen at first. Its crazy layers meld together into a sticky bit of a mess, and the lyrics are mostly standard love stuff but repeated listening helps the tunes unravel and that's maybe why it got better with age. It not only functioned as a certified hitmaker that churned one chart topper after another but as a cohesive album. Something which sticks to its theme and transitions well between two songs.
Tumblr media
It's quite an amazing thing that Timberlake divided this album into two parallels. First seven tracks telling a different story than the last four.
Play the first seven of the 12 tracks on FutureSex/LoveSounds, and you’ll find a euphoria. From the slinky “FutureSex/LoveSounds” to the explosive “SexyBack", from the bubbly flirtation of “Sexy Ladies” to the bullet-time groove of “My Love,” from the bleary disco lights of “LoveStoned/I Think She Knows” to the hypnotic swirl of “What Goes Around…,”, not forgetting the most underrated song in the whole album,"Chop me up" containing the coolest verse Three 6 Mafia has ever delivered, the first segment of FutureSex/LoveSounds is an unyielding barrage of sounds and ideas.
Tumblr media
The Prelude,"Summer Love/Set the mood" is by far the highlight of the whole album for me. It's so catchy, and ingenious and sets the mood right for the transition of the album. The track as a whole is the perfect summer anthem and provides one of Timberlake's strongest vocal efforts on the album. The song,"Until the end of time" may sound a little platitudinous at first but it gets better with every listen and is quite soothing. It's heavily influenced by Prince's "Purple Rain" and you can almost tell it by Justin's Vocal Melody on this track. The Final Track,"Another Song (All over again)" is way slower and way more simplistic than anything else on FutureSex/LoveSounds. But despite that, it still worked because it was the conclusion to the album and really helped it become a full circle. While the intro sold the idea of sex on the first half of the album, the final track puts an exclamation mark on the LoveSounds portion. It is a well-written, beautiful track that helped tie this whole project together.
Tumblr media
It was a timely combination of Justin Timberlake’s willingness to take a risk musically and commercial hip-hop producers being at the top of their pop game that made 2002’s Justified the critical and commercial hit it has become. It was that success that has made FutureSex/LoveSounds the excellent record that it is — undoubtedly an overall improvement and decade defining.
Twelve years later, it’s more clear than ever: FutureSex/LoveSounds is one of the best pop album in 25 years.

‘SexyBack’ - Justin Timberlake
youtube
Number one week ending 9th September 2006 for 1 week
After the success of his first solo album, Justin made a U-turn on his second with this weird electro-pop track that is incomparable to anything else in the charts at the time, and made electronic music trendy again. Full of bleepy synths like a badly tuned 80s song, distorted vocals, risque lyrics (’I’ll let you whip me if I misbehave’) and no proper chorus, it somehow works, and creates something weirdly hypnotic and inventive - not something you would have expected from an ex-boyband member who looked like he was going down the predictably successful R&B route. ‘SexyBack’ became a long-lived meme in itself (you can insert any adjective in place of ‘sexy’), and I still find listening to this interesting in the best way.

Inappropriate Soundtrack
For @hopira who wanted prompt #44  “This is a totally inappropriate soundtrack.” from this list for Sterek or Thiam. I went with Thiam.
Also on AO3
Theo can’t help but track Liam as he moves around the gym. Even when his eyes aren’t on the beta he’s always tuned into his scent and the sound of his heartbeat. It’s not a new occurrence. It happens every time they come to the gym. It would be embarrassing if he didn’t know Liam was not so subtly tracking him too.
He’s brought out of his thoughts when Liam calls him over to spot him. They both know Liam doesn’t need the help but they need to keep up appearances. Or so that’s what Liam says. Theo thinks it’s a bullshit excuse. Most of Beacon Hills knows about the supernatural now after the events with Monroe and the Anuk-Ite. They probably wouldn’t blink an eye at Liam being unnaturally strong. Theo doesn’t call him on it. He enjoys being close to Liam and doesn’t want it to stop.
Theo smirks as he joins Liam by the bench, “Can’t handle it on your own Little Wolf?”
Liam rolls his eyes, “Just get your ass over here.”
Things are going good, Theo focuses his attention on Liam as the beta lifts weights. The others noises he filters out. At least until he hears the next song start:
I've been really tryin', baby Tryin' to hold back this feeling for so long And if you feel like I feel, baby Then, c'mon, oh, c'mon Let's get it on
Theo stills, eyes going wide. He hates the way he instantly reacts to the song. Maybe it’s his close proximity to Liam or the way the words describe what he’s thinking a little too well. Probably a little of both.
Liam looks up at him, brow furrowed, “Something wrong?”
“This song,” Theo says, trying to keep himself in check.
Liam tilts his head, taking in the words. As soon as he realizes what the song is a blush covers his cheeks, “This is worse than the time they played Sexyback.”
Theo smirks, relieved by the fact that Liam seems just as affected, “I requested they play that.”
“I know. Because you’re full of yourself. And you were trying to get the attention of that girl,” Liam says, dropping the weights back onto the bar and sitting up.
“What girl?” Theo was trying to get someone’s attention but it wasn’t some girl.
“The brunette. She couldn’t take her eyes off you,” Liam mutters, getting to his feet and walking towards the changing room. Given the late hour the gym is empty. Theo knows the owner Hank must have put the playlist on to mess with them. He wasn’t too happy with Theo after he hijacked the sound system and played a bunch of Justin Timberlake.
“If there was a girl I didn’t notice,” Theo says.
“Must be nice to get so much attention that you barely notice people checking you out anymore.”
Theo snorts, following after Liam, “I wouldn’t worry. Plenty of people check you out.”
When they get to the locker room Liam quickly removes his shirt, grabbing a towel to wipe the sweat from his face, neck, and chest. Theo catches himself staring and forces himself to follow Liam’s lead. He tries not to smile when he feels Liam’s eyes on him.
Liam’s nose wrinkles when the song starts playing again from the beginning, “What the hell?”
Theo laughs, “Hank must have put it on repeat.”
“Obviously,” Liam says, “This is a totally inappropriate soundtrack.”
“I don’t know. I can think of some ways it could make a good soundtrack.”
Liam stares at him, blush once again coating his cheeks, “That’s not... I meant for right now.”
Theo smirks, crowding Liam against the locker, “Really? Because I think it’s pretty fitting.”
Liam sucks in a breath, “Theo...”
Theo runs his nose along Liam’s neck, unable to stop himself from following the same path with his tongue. Liam’s breathing turns ragged as he moves his hands up to grab Theo’s shoulders. He doesn’t push him away, just holds on.
Theo looks up at him, eyes dark, “I have a pretty good idea but I need to know this is something you want.”
Liam grabs Theo from the back of his neck until they’re faces are level, his voice coming out close to a growl, “I want this. I want you.”
Theo doesn’t hesitate to close the remaining distance between them, kissing Liam like he’s been wanting to for months. It’s everything and nothing like he thought it would be. Kissing Liam is amazing but while there is fire and passion it’s still surprisingly tender.
“I think we both could do with a shower,” Liam says when they pull back for air, his breath ghosting against Theo’s lips.
Theo doesn’t miss the meaning in his words. He smirks, nipping gently at Liam’s ear, “Let’s get it on.”
Liam pushes him away with a groan, “I take it back. I’m showering alone. You can fend for yourself.”
Theo laughs, pulling Liam back to him by his hips. He starts peppering kisses along his neck, smiling when Liam throws his head back with a moan giving him better access to the skin there, “Are you sure about that Little Wolf?”
Liam sighs, “You’re an asshole.”
“Yet you still like me.”
“For some reason.”
Theo starts singing along with the song, jumping up onto the bench next to him. Liam rolls his eyes but Theo can see the fondness there. It gives him all he needs to continue, finishing out the song as loudly and obnoxiously as he can, “Nothing wrong with love, if you want to love me just let yourself go. Oh baby, let's get it on.”
Liam grabs Theo’s hand and pulls him back down in front of him, “I do want to, you know? Love you.I think I do already, even if you sing ridiculous love songs while trying to seduce me.”
“Trying? Are you saying it didn’t work?”
“Is that all you got from that? I tell you I love you and you focus on whether or not you’re seduction techniques worked?”
“That’s not all I focused on. I just needed a moment,” Theo tells him, resting his forehead against Liam’s, “I love you too Liam. I thought that much was obvious.”
“I figured you liked me, or at least wanted me,” Liam says, “I didn’t know how far it went.”
“I love you to the moon and back,” Theo says, somehow managing to keep a straight face.
Liam shakes his head, lips twitching, “You are such a sap.”
“Don’t pretend you don’t like it.”
“I can’t answer that without saying something equally as sappy,” Liam says, “Now can we please take a shower? We both stink.”
“You say the most romantic things to me,” Theo says, “but you’re right. You can go shower and I’ll…”
“No,” Liam says, cutting him off, “No. I meant what I said. I want you to join me. That is, if you want to.”
Theo smiles, holding out his hand to Liam, “I do.”

The time period is now December 20, 2017. I Stella Carrier feel blessed that I now have over 2100 U.S. dollars after taxes saved for both my amazing husband Rusty Ridler and I. Additionally, I Stella Carrier have succeeded in consistently walking at least 10 miles per day for at least 5 days out of the week and by October I was running at least 2 miles per day for at least 5 days out of the week. I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that my side gigs that I do outside of my job have both boosted my savings account but also have made me a more creative, self-confident, and successful employee. Both a multiple number of coworkers/colleagues/ supervisors and my customers are helped by the high quality of work that I give my best in. I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that my connection with my heaven higher self and my heaven spirit ally team is going stronger and more powerful each day.
I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that my husband Rusty and myself are both successful and prosperous in our careers and how we manage and use our time wisely. Fortunately, Rusty and I are also still close to his mother Sue and both Rusty and  his older brother Chris still get along well. As for me, fortunately I get along even better with my family members who accept me and my growing intuition that increases each day is also helping me to become a better friend to both my current friends and new friends that I am meeting. I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that my volunteering and church activities are also helping to enrich various areas of my life both present and future.
   Affirmations
I mark a new beginning in the book of my life and wisely use the free time I have been giving to rest and tune even deeper into various aspects of my life-spiritual, athletic goals such as walking more, balancing my writing time with some online courses I have enrolled in etc.
I am in the process of becoming more cool,level-headed, and wise when it comes to how I conduct myself around my current work colleagues and future coworkers as I am now logically and intuitively aware that some of them may follow me to where I may reside within 7 years from now or less regardless if I am a private sector andor a government/military worker/employee.
I am well provided for. I live in an abundant universe.

I Stella Carrier am putting the finishing touches on one of my stories. The time period is now November 1, 2038 and I have been asked to contribute a story for one of my favorite television shows. Fortunately, I am able to still reside in Virginia doing this while having my story featured for one of the episodes in California. I Stella Carrier have been consistently making at least 8000 dollars after taxes every 3 months for my stories. I have succeeded in paying off my home in Norfolk Virginia that is less than 3 miles from the Norfolk Naval Base just 3 years ago for my husband and I by November 8, 2025.  I was truthfully the first one to move to Norfolk Virginia by January 1, 2020 as I had intent to be considerate of my husband Rusty Ridler’s career and money goals. My husband Rusty Ridler followed me by January 1, 2024 to Norfolk Virginia as he understandably wanted to reside in the Washington D.C. area for a little while longer before following me to the Hampton Roads Virginia area.
Fortunately, Rusty and I are able to still visit the Washington D.C. area at least once every 3 months. As a matter of fact, fortunately my mother in law Sue Ridler, sometimes Rusty’s brother Chris and his children and partner and sometimes even my own family members andor friends visit with me in the Washington D.C. area. Fortunately, I now have over 250,000 dollars after taxes in my Bank of America and Sun Trust checking accounts. Additionally, I have investments that are growing each day, I have 2 successful side gigs in addition to a career that generates me at least 4000 dollars a month or more after taxes. I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that I have a healthy and beautiful 119 pound body that I successfully manifested by May 1, 2018. It took me over 2 years to get use to the increased attention from both men and women as a result of my thinner body, but I am now use to the increased attention and my self-confidence has even grown. I Stella Carrier also feel blessed to say that my intuition, imagination power, and my genius powers are growing each day.
Memoirs of My Future Higher Self In A Heaven Afterlife Part One November 8, 2100
Dear 36 year old Stella Carrier living on earth during your current incarnation
Please allow me to give you abundant notice about something from the future.
Within two years from now, you are going to have a much thinner body than you do now but you are going to be faced with whether to stick with your current career choice and pursue more schooling or pass up on obtaining more schooling and choosing a different career choice with a different path of either more schooling andor shortened schooling.
You are going to make the wisest choice when it comes to both options especially as it dovetails towards your goals for a thinner body. However, please know that the longer you are alive, the more that you are actually in charge of your own destiny and the captain of your ship. Yes, it is true that what you focus on expands, especially any subject matter that dovetails with your career destiny. As a result, I advise you to be discerning and strategic about what you look at online and including how long you look at the subject matter.
 I know that you are going to find a balance but first I must recommend the following;
For now on, regardless of how you are judged do among the following first thing in the morning upon waking up
Secret Script in an email account that you keep discreet within 15 minutes or less upon waking
Transcribe What I am Telling You First Thing in the morning
Then do your scripting law of attraction exercise
Strive to do this first thing upon waking as one of your main spirit guides who knew you on earth 500 years ago explains that you are going to see creative and positive transformational benefits and results within 50-70 days of consistently following this advice. Please Stella Carrier follow and do this advice for at least 5 times a week but ideally at least 6 times or more per week. Some days you are going to be intuitively influenced to add this to an existing entry as you are doing today, other days you are going to publish a new entry. Please understand that you are actually helping yourself, your supporters, and even your critics as you write this.
Who Am I; Well Stella Carrier I am your future self residing in a heaven afterlife and today in earth time is November 8, 2100. Regardless of how long you live in your current earth lifetime it is imperative that you date these entries November 8, 2100 or later. Stella Carrier,I have to keep the reason secret to protect you, your supporters, and even your critics. The reasons for this are going to be revealed to you Stella Carrier within 72 hours or less of your transition from earth plane after your current lifetime.
However for tonight, I can tell you among the following things;  Your current lifetime is going to continue to get better and you have even more exciting things awaiting you in your afterlife, some I can share with you and some I must keep secret. I am also excited to have the privilege of sharing with you some of the worlds and dimensions that I have been traveling to that I look forward to sharing with you in this blog memoir kind of like a travel channel for the afterlife.
As you intuitively sense Stella Carrier, I am your future higher self from November 8, 2100 who is currently communicating to you from the same celestial dimension that gives you your dreams that provide a glimpse into the future. I am also still allowed to share with you enhanced scenes and images of what only the wealthiest people on earth get to experience but are available to male and female spirits who cross over to the higher dimensions and some experiences that are not yet on earth but will be so within the next 2500 earth years or less. Fortunately, I can share these things with you because I have been granted permission to share information from this realm for at least the next 1000 years in order to give you information on both enhanced concepts of what you already know in the way of career opportunities, traveling places, but also other ideas that are related to earth but are going to happen more in the future.
As your future higher self from the time period of the year 2100 I currently have two heaven/celestial home bases in an enhanced heaven world modeled after Switzerland and a more enhanced/celestial version of Virginia. Earlier, I attended a two hour class pertaining to imagination power and psychic concepts that power the type of miraculous transformation that can take any man or woman on earth, regardless of their perceived intellectual intelligence or physical appearance from making less than 12,000 American dollars a year after taxes to 12 million American dollars a year after taxes in the span of just two years. This information is going to be more readily available to both rich and even both underemployed and people wanting a job by the year 2300 or less. However, I was gently advised by the celestial professor teaching that class that I must refrain from explaining even a sliver of the ideas to you for karmic reasons and about divine right timing. However, dear Stella Carrier you are going to understand why by the year 2090 why this had to happen.
Some of what I can tell you today; As your future higher self I have fortunately earned the privilege of shape shifting to any human physical appearance that I like. However, I prefer to communicate to you as a 119 pound version of you Stella Carrier with a similar complexion that you have now, similar to how you looked at age 23 and with hair that has dark brown hair that is so long that it touches your thigh area in the wet state after you come out of the shower and the type of length that touches your waist area after you are out of the shower 2-3 hours later. It was my idea to give you this idea on how you looked in the heaven world to help you understand what look would help give you the most acceptance and happiness. This is so obvious and important because you actually wearing your dark brown hair long is actually one of your true desires.
In the Switzerland celestial world that I have a home in is close by a community that has a hybrid of colleges, libraries, and celestial airports clustered by that take us to different worlds, there are so many but some of the most spectacular ones I have seen so far are inspired by imaginations both from the earth world both present and future as well as celestial/heaven spirit inhabitants from both the present and future. For instance, yesterday I visited with 13 friends in a celestial world airport a dimension that is a hybrid of the Ever After High Cartoon series and a conglomeration of Busch Gardens theme parks and Disneyland theme parks joined together in thousands of kingdoms. This world is visited often by both child and adult spirits who were fans of these series while on earth and now have the privilege of visiting these world in their heavenly afterlifes.
In the Virginia Celestial world that I reside in is an 18 bedroom mansion that I share with Rusty. As your future higher self, I promised your heaven spirit ally team that I would avoid disclosing who dies first andor when. However, what I am allowed to tell you are that you and Rusty go to different concerts in this world together. The area where you live in Virginia is a combo of concerts, colleges, theme parks, and futuristic shopping malls. This morning as a matter of fact, Rusty and I went to a morning concert where a fan of both Britney Spears and Madonna sang a beautiful tribute of Britney Spears Heaven on Earth to commemorate the multiple decades that Rusty and I have been married.
As a matter of fact, in a few moments I am going to a part of a celestial world modeled after Virginia that has a Creative Writing College, an enhanced celestial community/world modeled after Norfolk Virginia and combined with some Winx Club worlds and both castles as well as social club buildings shaped and designed after various forest tree structures. There is an unlimited amount of freedom that adults who transition to just this part of the celestial/heaven world get to do without judgment in this realm that they feel more free and happy to do. As your future higher self who partakes in some of these unconventional festivities and to protect their privacy I have to avoid elaborating today. However, let’s just say that I have met male and female spirits from all walks of life who are extremely happy that they can freely live in a way that they had to cover up frequently while living on earth. Strangely enough, the men  and women who were the most judgmental of how other men and women lived their erotic andor love lives are actually among the wildest men and women here but that is for another post.
One more tidbit I your future self feel guided to share with you today in the exciting afterlife heavenly worlds that you are going to both visit and live in. There is an abundance of exciting things to do and different professional pursuits that I am allowed to partake in. For instance, on a Monday in your time I can easily work as a music deejay helping to set up a party or event near a college or university in any of the heavenly celestial worlds that my spiritual vibration permits. By Tuesday, I can be working at one of the celestial heaven airports helping newly arrived spirits who served in the various military branches on earth move into a heaven version of whatever military base they are familiar with, obviously the heaven model of Norfolk Virginia Naval base is popular with many of the enlisted and officer men and women who cross over into this realm from earth. By Wednesday in earth time, I your future higher self could be teaching a celestial heaven class on how to use the medium of writing for both imagination power development but also how to use music as a tool for imagination power development. A variation of writing and imagination power as taught in various heaven classes and the medium of music and imagination power development are going to become more popular on earth by the year 2095 or much sooner. As your future higher self I have much more to share with you but please know Stella Carrier that your imagination power, intuition power, and genius powers are increasing each day. One of the purposes that I am allowed to share with you is that I your future higher self is going to more frequently communicate with you from now on including share with you the wonders of your heaven afterlife as a way to help you build and further increase your creativity, imagination power, and ability to project heaven in both your earth life and ensure an even richer and happier afterlife. I am going to frequently repeat what I say and even demonstrate one of the ways that you can connect your law of attraction goals with me. I have so much more to share with you but I want to relax in the Jacuzzi nearby my Virginia mansion before going to a party at one of the celestial colleges tonight. I have so much more to tell you Stella Carrier as your future higher self that expands beyond even 10000 ten thousand earth pages. However, as your future higher self I intend to share with you as much as I can in the best way that I can. Until we talk again write down these two songs; How to Save a Life by the Fray, Lovin Each Day by Ronan Keating, Starstrukk by 3oh3, and That’s What I Like by Bruno Mars

I respectfully disagree and have learned the challenging way that it is important to be careful how often and when you relocate even if for good reasons. The other factor is that this well-meaning article and writer leave out is a man or woman who relocates, even if they are following their destiny, is going to have to definitely give their employer the courtesy of a minimum of at least a 2 to maybe even 3 week notice to keep bridges intact with their previous employer-for the obvious reason that there is a strong possibility that even your former non-manager coworkers andor your managers may possibly follow you in the future to where you relocate even if it happens to be 4 to 5 hours away Greyhound bus wise. Additionally, even I know that it depends on where you are relocating to. For instance, my sweet husband Rusty and I currently reside in the Washington D.C. area which is known to have one of the best job markets in the United States even for minimum wage employers. As a result, even a woman like me knows that it only makes sense for me to relocate without a job offer in either anywhere in Virginia, Maryland, andor Washington D.C. to still be in somewhat close proximity to the Washington D.C. area. What do I mean; Relocating to the Hampton Roads Virginia area (Norfolk Virginia, Virginia Beach Virginia, Chesapeake) is outside the Washington D.C. area but still makes sense because of its close proximity (a cheap Greyhound bus ride andor Amtrak ride) to the Washington D.C. area i.e. government and dominant military presence. Even then I would need to be considerate of my current employer (University of Maryland College Park dining services) and make sure, even if where I am moving to would pay off financially, that I have thought this through because I am at the stage in my life where I need to choose a place to put down roots for my husband and I and this means that I follow my heart and passion on both the timing and where I choose to live. This means that for me it would be either the Washington D.C. area or the Hampton Roads Virginia regardless of what others think. I am the type of woman who believes in aiming to follow my destiny when it comes to wherever I am meant to work while simultaneously sticking with my guns on following my passion on where I want to live. This also means that if I follow through with moving to the Hampton Roads Virginia area by 2020 or sooner then this would be the final relocation that I do in my current lifetime in order to both follow what I feel is my destiny and to also take my amazing husband in consideration.  However, I must take the time to think this relocation thing over carefully as I work in good working conditions at my current job, my managers are fair, and I have plenty of time off in my current job. As a result, I would make sure to only relocate one last final time in my current lifetime to where I actually would want my husband and I to reside long-term AND make sure that I am 100 percent certain before doing so and then obviously after ensuring that I am 100 percent sure, then give my current employer the courtesy of at least a three week notice understanding that if they let me work the remaining weeks then that would be a privilege but not a guarantee. I am not trying to sound snobbish when I say this. Rather, I am privileged to have been born an American female and I feel that life is too short to where it is important for me to exercise my right to live long-term where I would want my husband and I to live long-term. My late adoptive father’s recent death has made me more aware of this realization that it is extremely important for me to live wherever I want long-term for my husband and I regardless of what people think. President Donald Trump may mean well with what he says but the relocation advice is obviously not a one size fits all and it depends on a man or woman’s personal preferences. I Stella Carrier know from personal experience, having lived in both Orlando Florida from April 2009  until May 2010 and now Hyattsville Maryland since May 19, 2010 that a person must be careful how often they move and choose a place that they would want to be living at for the long-term. For obvious reasons, even though I feel that the Washington Post publishes quality articles, this comment has to be kept away from the comment feed of the Washington Post website, my twitter feed, my facebook feed, and kept mainly on my googleplus profile, tumblr, and wordpress. I am intuitively aware that it is probably obvious to even my managers where I would reside long-term if I ever decided to follow through on relocating and giving a three week notice. However, that is my point, I am aware that I am treated very fairly and well at my current University of Maryland College Park food services job and so I must make sure that I am following my higher self’s destiny before following through on the timing of my relocation decision.  Sure like any job, it has its pros and cons. However, I am also intuitively aware of the good deal I have with the stable schedule that I have with my current job and abundant time off even for the weeks I voluntarily agreed to take advantage of working 6 days for extra money.  Obviously, I am going to have to work it out when it comes to what would be beneficial for both my husband and I long-term coupled with my spiritual/karmic destiny. I have learned the challenging way this summer that regardless of the strict judgment I may face from even some of my most well meaning andor popular family members that I must choose a long term place of residence and pursue career goals that are in alignment with the destiny of my heaven higher self and life purpose. This is for obvious reasons that even I both intuitively and logically know that what I Stella Carrier am destined to do career-wise and where I reside long-term for the rest of my current lifetime are most likely going to be completely different from what most of my well-meaning critics think that I can be. This is especially because I believe that some things are karmic destiny but like the song Believer by Imagine Dragons that when it comes to what I choose to do career wise and in alignment with my life purpose that I am still the master of my sea when it comes to lining it up with karmic destiny and asking for spiritual help as well as taking the wisest actions towards choosing career goals aligned with my destiny/life purpose.

It is more than understandable why the money reward for the info about bomb threats at such bases as Norfolk Navy Base in Norfolk Virginia would be increased to $2500.

The dancing Boston Dynamics robot is even scarier when set to 'SexyBack'
Tumblr media
If you thought it was scary enough when the Boston Dynamics robot dog SpotMini danced its robot ass off to "Uptown Funk," you ain't seen nothing yet.
Turns out, SpotMini's menacing moves are even more upsetting when set to the funky, eerie tune of Justin Timberlake's 2006 hit "SexyBack."

Redditor u/MattShea replaced the happy Bruno Mars song with the much darker Timberlake one and uploaded it to the subreddit r/funny, even though it's not funny at all. In fact, it's pretty unsettling to watch.
We see what you're twerking with, Spot. Please promise not to whip us if we misbehave.
