MSA X TMNT 2003: Ninja Tribunal Chapter Chapter 16: TMNT and Mystery Teams are knocked out by Tengu Shedder and Fight Tengu Shredder/They are unconscious and use Amulets to Spirit of Hamato Yoshi to fight Tengu Shredder/Spirit back to TMNT and Mystery Teams/Tengu Shredder uses Dark Magic

TMNT Team, Girls' Clues Club Teams, and Mystery Teams are knocked out by Tengu Shredder in the nightmare horrible forest

Tengu Shredder: Prepare, all of you, for a slow agonizing end to your small and worthless lives.

Leo: All right, let’s not give him an easy target. Spread out and get ready.

The other acolytes appear.

Bart: Your friends are right beside you, till the very end.

Leo: Remember the plan. We must try to weaken him by separating him from his helmet and gauntlet. It’s our only chance.

Sarah: Right, course it.

Tengu Shredder: There are no chances left.

He races towards the group on his demon horse, his glowing trident held ready. Meanwhile, back at the citadel, the allies battle Shredder’s demon forces.

Bishop: Commandos, hit ‘em with everything you’ve got. We don’t have to be nice. Remember, these are undead ghouls.

Winged demons carry off some of Bishop’s men, while Kappa Tengu attack others. The ground opens and undead Foot ninja spring up to join the attack. Several charge Bishop, but he uses mystic tech weapons to disintegrate them. Bishop is grabbed and lifted into the air by winged demons, but one of his men shoots one and Bishop shoots the other. As he falls, Bishop fires is weapon at a Stone Oni and destroys it.

Bishop: Commandos, rally to me!

His men move back to join him. When one is knocked down by an undead soldier and is about to be struck again, Raptarr sweeps down and grabs its weapon. He uses it to smash another Stone Oni who is holding two commandos. Silver Sentry flies towards another Stone Oni, but is struck hard enough to fly backwards into a temple, which then falls on him.

Nobody: Sentry, hang on! [He and Metal Head pull boulders off of Silver Sentry and then Nobody gives him a hand up.] Silver Sentry, what’s happening?

Silver Sentry: We’re losing.

Inside the citadel, Hun manages to pull himself out of a pile of rubble.

Hun: Forget this nonsense. Nothing is worth fighting demons. Hmm? [He looks around and sees he’s fallen into a chamber filled with riches.] Nothing except this. [He picks up a pearl necklace.] If I gotta risk my life, I might as well be rewarded for it.

In the smoking remains of the top floor of the citadel, Chaplin comes to and spots Karai lying nearby.

Chaplin: Mistress? Mistress Karai! [He runs to her.] Mistress? [She awakens.] Thank goodness you’re all right. Let me help you.

Nearby, Baxter Stockman groans, his army tank body on its side.

Baxter Stockman: Help me.

His hologram projected head appears. Bishop walks up and kicks him.

Bishop: Stockman. On your feet. There’s work to do.

Stockman: Why can’t I ever be left alone to expire in peace?

He rights himself and Bishop walks over to Karai.

Bishop: Karai, you’re alive. Now if you haven’t noticed, we’re losing. You’ve got to use your link with the Shredder and continue your assault.

Chaplin goes to help her up, but she pushes him back and returns to sitting in a cross-legged position.

Karai: Stand back.

The green mystic energy forms around her body.

Bishop: You two, protect her. I need to see if we have any other forces left.

He races away.

Chaplin: Dr. Stockman! This is so great! You and I are a team again. Isn’t it just so awesome?

Stockman: Thrilling beyond words. This day couldn’t possibly get any worse.

Fighting continues in the courtyard outside the citadel. In the forest next to it, Shredder charges towards the turtles.

Tengu Shredder: Run, but you can’t hide.

Raph: Yeah, bring it on!

He leaps onto the horse’s neck and brings his Banrai down at Shredder, who catches them on the trident’s staff. Matilda jumps at Shredder, but he flings Raphael into her. Bart attacks next, but Shredder bats him away. Michelangelo swings his Inazuma, but Shredder catches him in midair with magic and holds the turtle, squeezing him before tossing him to the ground. Shredder then slides Michelangelo towards a spike covered tree, but Donatello jumps behind his brother to catch him. The magic is too strong and both start sliding towards the spiked tree trunk.

Leo: Rush him all at once – now!

He, Lewon, and Marie leap at Shredder, but he lifts his Trident and catches them in mystic magic. They struggle, but are unable to move. Shredder turns to look at Marie's weapon.

Tengu Shredder: The mystical fangs of the dragon. Children should not be allowed to play with such powerful toys. [He grabs onto Lewis' Samurai Fire Sword 's blade] The consequences could be deadly.

His eyes glow and then power rushes through the blade, into Cera and then over to the other two. All groan in pain. From a distance away, Splinter rises from where he’s fallen and sees the green mystic light flash through the trees.

Splinter: My sons. [He gasps as he sees smoke rising and then frantically runs through the forest. In the clearing, he spots the Mystery Teams acolytes lying motionless on the ground.] No. [He kneels next to Lewis and touches his neck. Then he looks up and his eyes widen.] No, it cannot be! [He sees all four of the turtles also motionless on the ground.] Not my sons! Not my sons! Not my friends! Not my friends! [He runs over to Leonardo.] No. My nightmare has come true. [He looks at each of his sons in turn.] My children… My friends... they have all been… This can’t be happening!

He drops to his knees. The Ancient One arrives and taps him on the shoulder. Splinter looks back.

Splinter: Ancient One. [Suddenly a green glow hits the Ancient One in the back. He yells and then falls forward.] No, not you too!

He hears laughter and looks up to see Shredder.

Tengu Shredder: And you’re next. [Shredder lowers his trident towards Splinter.] Now it is your turn to perish, Nezumi.

Splinter moves forward and holds his walking stick ready as Shredder rides towards him. Suddenly the turtles and Mystery Teams’ amulets glow and the energy swirls out of them to form teams of dragons, phoenixes, and animals behind Splinter. They rise into the air and spin together until their colours blend into a gold flash of lightning. It hits the ground in front of Splinter and becomes the spirit of Hamato Yoshi.

Splinter: Oh, Master Yoshi?

Yoshi, still surrounded by a yellow glow, faces off with Shredder. When Shredder reaches him, he stabs at Yoshi with the trident, but Yoshi grabs the staff and lifts Shredder out of the saddle. The demon horse goes flying into the trees and crashes. Yoshi holds Shredder up in the air and then slams him to the ground. Yoshi then spins the trident and levitates.

Tengu Shredder: I do not know who you are, but know this, [He starts to form a green mystic orb between his hands.] you shall suffer greatly by my…

Yoshi slashes down with the trident, splitting the magic orb and slicing across Shredder’s chest and stomach. Shredder screams as his mystic power flows out of him. The turtles’ colors then leave Yoshi’s body and glide back into their amulets. Groaning, the turtles all rise.

Splinter: My sons! My Friends!

Tengu Shredder: This changes nothing.

Holding his chest as his power leaves him, Shredder walks towards the group. He then lifts his arms and begins pulling power back into his body.

Sarah: ! He used to have more dark powers!

Splinter: He is re-concentrating all of his powers.

At the citadel, the ally forces are fighting a desperate battle.

Bishopric: Hold the line, men, hold the line! [Suddenly the Shredder’s undead forces begin to turn into blobs of green magic and fly towards the forest.] What’s happening? Why are they retreating?

Chelsea: ?! They're retreating?

Turtles THNT Teams: !?

Carol: Mom, that’s dark magic?

Chelsea: Right, I think it’s Tengu Shredder used to more dark magics to himself!

Gary: Yes, right! Demon Shredder has more dark powers!

The Purple Dragons watch in surprise as the undead Foot soldiers they face melt away. Tsunami and four duplicate Nanos are surrounded by Kappa Tengu and assaulted by winged hordes, when all of their adversaries vanish. Nano reforms into a single body and he and Tsunami look questioningly at each other. As Shredder pulls his power out of the city, everything returns to normal. The Citadel vanishes, leaving Foot headquarters in a shamble. Karai is still sitting cross-legged on the ground, surrounded by some of Shredder’s power. Stockman and Chaplin are nearby.

Stockman: What’s happening?

Karai: The Tengu Shredder is pulling his energy back into himself!

Hun is still gloating over the riches he’s discovered, but as the power is pulled away, the room filled with gold and jewels vanishes, including the loot Hun is holding in his arms.

Hun: Aw, crud.

All of the disbursed power returns to Shredder’s body and the gash in his body heals.

Don: Everything’s changing back. Do you think… do you think it’s over?

Shredder starts laughing and slashes at the air, forming waves of power around him.

Josh: !? Not good!

Leo: Not by a long shot.

Maisy: No... can’t believe...!

The waves become wings, and the Shredder’s entire body transforms into a vicious gigantic dragon, which towers over the groups.

I love fics that are just excuses for worldbuilding, like can you imagine the ramifications x thing would have if we were to bring it to reality? I love it.

By the way, doesn't tmnt already have an Atlantis in 2003? and it's the source of most of the mutants in the series. Which is weird, utrom are only responsible for the turtles, Splinter and leatherhead.

The Atlantis lore is interesting, they got power from a cosmic crystal and used it to create slave mutants, but they bit off more than they could, and their empire crumbled. I wondered if some of their lore could apply to rise? Mostly because of the avians. Other than 12April and 03Bishop, they are the most human passing mutants in the franchise.( Other than that blue one, I think it's a concept art of raptarr) and could bring interesting ramifications, like, are You mutant enough?

Maybe? When did that part happen? I think I stopped watching somewhere in season 4, I distinctly remember the farmhouse arc but I don't remember Donnie getting double-mutated. But my recall is also not super reliable because I had undiagnosed ADHD as a kid, plus my parents would go through phases of "all homework must be done before you can do anything else," and since my parents were straight-up insane homework usually took 5-6 hours starting in like second grade. (my mom's a lot better now but holy cow she never should have had kids) Since TMNT was on right when I got home I didn't get to catch it that often. This was the olden days folks, if I wanted to watch the episodes on my own time I had to rent the VHS from Hollywood Video!

I'm not making another Yokai city. The worldbuilding for one is enough to kill me.

I have now gotten to TMNT 2003 season 4

There seems to be a lot more stuff with the Y'Lintian slave races, from the fish people who were being contaminated with radiation, and the Avians with Raptarr (I keep thinking of Reptar from Rugrats when I hear that name) and Mephos.

The stuff with the Battle Nexus Daimyo in the previous season was weird because after the loss of his son, I'm pretty sure the Christmas episode happened where he was fine, then he was super depressed in the Ultimate Drako mini-arc with the Turtles being sent across the multiverse. Now I know they said he was under some kind of spell with Ult Drako being disguised as the Gyoji, but I have no idea how much of that was fake because he seemed genuinely depressed.

Bishop does seem to be a pretty cool and threatening antagonist, able to puppeteer a lot of stuff and hold his own against like 6-7 people at once.

Leo is currently going Batman where he goes really hard on training and crime fighting out of self-hatred for having him AND his family go to self-sacrifice to defeat Shredder last season, so I'm eager to see how this plot thread progresses.

Can't wait to get to the Ninja Tribunal arc.

TMNT #1-4 DECEMBER 2001 - JUNE 2002 BY PETER LAIRD, JIM LAWSON AND ERIC TALBOT

SYNOPSIS (FROM TURTLEPEDIA AND COMIC VINE)

A Fugitoid makes its way across the moon in leaps, passing by Tranquility Base and marveling at how it has stood the test of time. It meets up with an Utrom, and the two discuss their plans to finish completing a large craft and bring these "guests" that they have with them.

In a New York City alley, the Ninja Turtles face an all too familiar scene - carapaces against an alley wall while a street gang - this time, the Madhattan Maulitia - have them cornered. While the four of them are more of a match for the fifteen dullards in the Maulitia, the Turtles decide to take the rooftops as soon as possible to gain some distance between them and their foes. After a moment of reflection, they head on their way, only to find they are less safe than they had hoped, as the Maulitia has somehow followed them up with snowmobiles. After trouncing the Maulitia up on the rooftops and heading back down, Donatello comes across a snowmobile all on its lonesome and steals it. Michelangelo tries to get Don's attention for a ride in the treacherous snow, but his brother doesn't hear him and Mike slips and falls in the street. Moments later, he's hit by a bus, and a costumed character named Magnrok finds him, carrying him into an alley calling someone in to pick him up.

Meanwhile, Don rides the snowmobile into a subway and loses control, crashing it through a wall, where he finds an old, abandoned armored truck.

April and Casey head out to a fertility doctor, while Shadow trains with Metal Head. After their sparring session, Shadow worries about the outcome of the appointment. Splinter dismisses it as the impatience of a teenager, but Shadow has a premonition that big things are in store for the entire world.

Michelangelo wakes up in an ambulance to find paramedics working on him. He freaks out and tries to escape, but the paramedics warn him not to open the door. Mike pays no heed to them and does so anyway, instantly falling out and finding that the ambulance is flying. Michelangelo holds on to a handle to prevent himself from falling, but he is still dizzy and injured and loses his grip. Fortunately, a flying superhero, Raptarr, happens to be in the area and catches Mikey as he passes back out. Raptarr returns him to the ambulance.

Leonardo and Raphael return to the lair, with Raph complaining about how cold he is. Leo turns up the heat and offers to make Raph some hot chocolate, and discuss The Jones' decision to try for a child of their own. Leo then asks if they should look for their brothers, they haven't seen since the scuffle with the Madhattan Maulitia. Raph declines due to the weather and suggests Mikey's having the time of his life in the snow anyway.

Mikey wakes up again, this time strapped to a hospital bed. A woman on a video screen insists he stay put, but Mike just wants to get out of there. The woman says he's free to leave as long as he checks out at the front desk, and that his effects are in a nearby closet. He wonders aloud why the staff hasn't freaked out due to him being a mutant turtle. It is at this moment that Mikey sees that the patients at this hospital are a little out of the ordinary, consisting of various costumed adventurers and non-humans.

A Doctor Singh approaches Michelangelo with some orderlies and tells him he needs to return to his room. Mikey refuses and begins to fight with the orderlies, before they are interrupted by a man approaching in a wheelchair - the Turtles' old friend Pat, aka Zippy Lad of the Justice Force. Pat takes charge of Mikey and lets Singh and the orderlies be on their way, explaining to the turtle that he is in Kurtzburg Memorial Hospital, a special hospital for aliens, heroes, mutants, and other oddities, and one of only three places like it in the world. Pat happens to be on the hospital's board of directors and saw Mike come in while he was at a budget meeting, and vouched for him. Pat convinces Mike to get back in bed and rest up.

Back at the lair, Donatello rushes in, excited, and coaxes Casey and Raph to follow him to a discovery he's made. Leo stays behind so he can watch Junkyard Wars in peace. Don leads Raph and Casey to the abandoned armored truck he'd found, and the three of them examine the vehicle, taking notes of what would need to be cleaned and fixed to get it running again, and finding the moldy corpses of some apparent robbers inside, including a skeleton in the back wearing 1970s garb and still holding onto a gun. Don and Casey leave to get some batteries and cleaning supplies, leaving Raph to bemoan being stuck there with the "dead guys".

Shadow leaves for a clandestine rendezvous with her boyfriend Jay, while Splinter worries for her safety in the snow. When she meets up with Jay, she suggests that they go to the Jones Farm and warm up by the fireplace, but he reminds her that it's supposed to be abandoned and the last time they were there, someone called the police on them. Instead, he pesters her about going back to her place and meeting her "famously reclusive grandfather", which she turns down.

Meanwhile, on the moon, the Utroms accomplish another phase on their mysterious plan.

In the jungles of Venezuela, a research team discovers a strange life form. Meanwhile, in the Big Apple, Casey, Raph and Don get the abandoned armored car running, much to the dismay of the local New Yorkers. Master Splinter and Shadow are enraptured by the television coverage of an invasion of Unidentified Flying Objects.

The Utroms finally reveal themselves to the word in a very public display. Karai fantasizes facing the turtles in battle while her aid keeps her updated on the news about the alien arrival. After watching the tv coverage of the Utroms Michelangelo and Raphael decide to get a closer look when the stumble on a mysterious robot in the sewers.

REVIEW

As I mentioned before, the Archie TMNT comic was my gateway to the world of comic-books. But because of the indie nature of the Turtles, their comics were really hard to get from outside of the US.

As a result, collecting them was frustrating, and in any case, getting all of them was futile. It wasn’t until around 2005, that I started getting TMNT comics for real.

At the time I started with colored collected editions (First), and eventually this and Tales came up, as those were being published at the time. As a result, I got almost all of the issues for both series. I was really impressed, not only by the story, but also by the interaction of Peter Laird with the fans, and how he would keep us up to date with his life. Eventually I started watching the 2003 cartoon (also, not something I had access to at the time it was broadcasted) which was heavily influenced by Peter Laird, and some of its concepts would appear in Tales.

This is a very long story, that as far as I know, it’s incomplete and there is little hope for it to be ever finished. I do hope at some point Peter Laird takes advantage of that “18 issues a year” deal he made with Viacom and make it happen.

While both, Eastman and Laird were fans of Jack Kirby, it is very obvious in this run that Laird may have been even more. Case in point, the “Kurtzberg” hospital sequence. It’s not gonna be the last time we see Kirby inspired things in the book.

When the book starts, we get the idea that there was a time jump since the last time we saw these characters (1995), but when I saw Shadow so grown up, I realized how much time really passed. I mean, the turtles are technically still teenagers, compared to how much turtles live. But they are kind... 30 now?

Perhaps the most significant thing about this run is the Utrom non-invasion of Earth. Whenever I think of Laird’s writing, my mind goes back to this story. The way he looks at sci-fi is very positive (especially considering that the Alien visit happens right after 9-11). In a way, his writing is very similar to that of Jack Kirby, who would often dedicate pages to concepts and ideas that would make life cooler.

Jim Lawson is back, and luck us, he is being inked (and toned) by Laird and Talbot.

Perhaps the main problem with this title is the pacing of the story. As the book is bi-monthly, it takes forever for a ship to land on Earth (7 months). This is not unusual in indie comics, but it makes the first issue a bit uneventful.

I give these issues a score of 8.

TMNT and Mystery Teams are attending the Lairs of TMNT's Home and THNT's Homes. Mystery Teams are not going to Hotels. Mystery Teams going to TMNT's Home and THNT's Home are Lairs. TMNT and Mystery Teams met THNT and they have their Mistress Rat.

Carol: Guys, they are back here in NYC?! Wait... they’re not here! We need to protect NYC from Foots Teams and Purple Dragons Teams! We have our Mistress told us that TMNT was not here in NYC. Need to protect NYC.

Suki Chan: Right, I accept my daughter. I am Suki-Chan. I’m Mistress of THNT.

Raph: THNT? What’s THNT?

Carol: Teenage

Jerry: Heroes

Sandra: Ninja

Gary: Turtles, Teenage Heroes Ninja Turtles short called THNT.

Suki Chan: Right, I got my Children's names: Carol, Jerry, Sandra, Gary. They have Ninja Teams of THNT like TMNT do.

TMNT Team and Mystery Teams are listening to stories to THNT Team has Good Teams and Allies Teams.

Few of TMNT, THNT and Mystery Teams are split into Teams. Others rest of TMNT, THNT and Mystery Teams are staying with Lairs. Leo, Mikey, Carol, Gary, Sarah, Laura, Lewis, Arthur, Marie, Stephanie, Bart, Josh, Cera and Ecole are going to Justice Force. They after the story of Ninja Tribunal. They going to fight with Nano.

Nano: Destroy Justice Force. [He suddenly stops running and his eyes shift to blue.] Justice Force, please, help… Error. Multiple targets.

His focuses first on Silver Sentry, then Raptarr, to Nobody, and finally Ananda, his sensors supplying him with readings on each.

Nano: Eliminate threats.

Leo is shocked and recognizes the voice is Nano

Leo: Oh no! Mikey, that voice, that face…

Mikey: No freaking way...

Leo and Mikey: Nano?!

Carol, Gary with 2 of the Girls' Clues Club Team, Rest of the Mystery Teams are surprised and shocked by TMNT's recognition of him, Nano

Carol: ?! Wait... Nano?! Do guys recognize him?

Gary: They fought him? They think it’s destroyed!

Lewis: Wait, what’s Nano?

Arthur: You remember that you guys fought him?

Marie: You mean the metal monster thing?

Stephanie: Guys told us to think that he’s destroyed!

Leo: Everyone, stop! We have to get it away from all technology! Ananda, get out!

Mikey: Nano’s not your run-of-the-mill giant killer robot.

Sarah: Wait! No!

Laura: !!! (Mind: Oh no! Not good!)

They are too late to Ananda's lose control of her Machine Bot

The warning signal goes off inside the Domebot’s cockpit.

Computer: Warning! Warning! Security breach! Firewall failure!

Ananda: No! It’s-it’s taking control of my Domebot!

Silver Sentry: Ananda, get out of there!

The Domebot opens fire on Silver Sentry, who uses his powers to create a shield. He flies at the Domebot and picks it up off the ground as it continues to fire. Ananda ejects from the Domebot in her special seat which has a parachute attachment. Silver Sentry then throws the Domebot up towards the sun.

Leo: This doesn’t make any sense. Why would Nano attack the Justice Force?

Mikey: Yeah, he always seemed like such a well-adjusted little rampaging robot.

Metal Head spins his hair like a buzzsaw and leaps at Nano, cutting off one of his legs. The nanobots pull the leg back together.

Nano: Target, Metal Head. Eliminate.

He swipes down at Metal Head, who leaps high, avoiding the strike. Expanding his hair, Metal Head drops over Nano, using his metal hair to form a cage around the robot’s body. One of the metal spikes has gone through Nano’s head, but it opens so that cable can grasp the spike. It lifts Metal Head and slams him to the ground twice, before reforming its head. Nobody tosses several grenades at Nano, which knock him down. The Nano twin races towards Nobody, who shoots cables from his wrist gauntlets into the two statues next to him. Nano lunges at him, but Nobody propels himself up onto the overhead cable and Nano’s momentum makes the robot fall. He gets up quickly and turns to dive at Nobody, who backflips off the cable. The fall separates the upper and lower halves of the robotic body, with Nobody standing between them. Before Nobody can get out of the way, the cables in the halves shoot out over him, trapping Nobody as the two parts pull themselves back together. The statue of Dr. Dome tips over as the Nano twin stands up. Chrysalis appears in front of him, gathers her energy, and strikes.

Chrysalis: Ugh!

Her energy force yanks Nano apart, which frees Nobody.

Mikey: Now that’s a Justice Force rescue.

Lewis uses Samurai Fire Sword to bat aside large chunks of stone.

Sarah: Mikey! Look out!

Michelangelo, standing near him, doesn’t notice a stone coming at him and is hit. Michelangelo rises to find his cape and cowl have been destroyed.

Mikey: Oh no! Not my costume!

Sarah and Laura used powers chi to fight out Nano, not good for repairing regeneration. They are shocked by Nano's ability to repair. They with the Rest of the Justice Force Team fight off.

Nano fires at Chrysalis, who flies from side to side to avoid his laser blasts. One of them hits Zippy Lad’s statue.

Zippy Lad: Ah, my favourite statue!

As Chrysalis readies her powers, a swarm of nanobots shoot from Nano’s body, smash into her and drive her into the river. The statue of Battling Bernice falls over. Raptarr swoops down and grabs the head of Lad’s statue with his feet. Straining, he lifts it into the air and then releases it when he is over Nano. The statue smashes Nano into the ground. Silver Sentry brings Ananda down next to the two turtles, and then he races towards the Nano twin. It tries to strike him, but Silver Sentry catches its arm.

Bart, Josh, Cera and Ecole used powers chi to fight out Nano has copies of himself. Bart, Josh, Cera and Ecole used cuts with their swords, not better to back repair and regenerate. Their chis powers off. They going to reteam/regroup after not working to fight off Nano

Bart: Not good! They are not good! I think he has repaired and regenerated!

Josh: What’s he has metal powers?!

Cera: How does this?

Ecole: !? They have ideas do?

Leo: Ananda, you can communicate with machines, right? Talk to it, talk to Nano. We think he’s being controlled.

Ananda: You’re right. There’s a control chip on one of the nanobots. It’s spreading a foreign program through its system. I can sense it, but it’s blocking me.

Sarah: The Control Chip?

Leo: The chip will have to be destroyed at the source.

Lewis: We’ll have to remove the chip and set Nano free.

Laura: I think we need to get small...

Mikey: But it’s nano small. How the shell are we supposed to… 

Nano manages to fling Silver Sentry away from him. As Silver Sentry flies backwards, Moleculo is thrown from his cape pocket. Silver Sentry hits the ground, flips over, and bounds back at Nano. Moleculo lands on his back and his belt returns him to normal size.

Mikey: Guys, wait. [He looks over at the unconscious Moleculo.] Guys, I so have a plan. Trust me.

Leo: Mikey, what are you going do? 

Mikey: Shrink down and get the Nano-Chip off myself. 

Sarah: I’m in with you. 

Laura: I’m coming with you.

They leap at Nano’s back as he stalks towards Ananda. Both three Teams press the shrink button and become nanobot-sized as they hit Nano’s shoulder.

Inside of Nano's systems and arrive in a junction filled with parts and cables.

Sarah: Right, we’ve got to find the nanobot with the control chip.

Laura: I think the control chip in where.

Mikey: Wait, guys. I think it might find us.

The nanobots swarm over Sarah and Laura and then begin to cover Michelangelo. They look up to see the one with the chip riding on top of the wave coming towards him.

Sarah: Wait... hold on! There it! Better fast! I got removed the control chip!

Sarah tried to reach out to get removed from Control Chip from Nanobot

She stretches to reach for it as she is slowly covered by nanobots. Nano starts back for Ananda.

They were shocked that Nano was down. 2 Human Girls and Mikey are back to Normal sizes and they have got the control chip removed.

Sarah: I got it. (She opens her hand to reveal the chip lying on her palm.)

The nanobots begin pulling together from the various places where they have scattered. Tsunami arrives on a wave, supporting Chrysalis. The nanobots swirl together in the air, and then reform into one being, which slowly drops to the ground.

Silver Sentry: Now to finish this fiend.

Leonardo with the Rest of the Mystery Teams runs to stand in front of Nano.

Leo: No! It’s okay!

Ananda: I’ve been in communication with him. He doesn’t want to fight. He’s not evil.

Leonardo and Michelangelo stand on either side of Nano. They are with 2 of the THNT Team, 2 of the Girls' Clues Club Teams, and the rest of the Mystery Teams.

Mikey: Yeah, Nano’s a good kid. He just fell in with a bad crowd. He been manipulated his whole life, but you guys, you could help him.

Nano: Thank you, Justice Force, and thank you, turtle creatures, human friends. My programming has evolved much since my previous encounters with you. I apologize for my… lack of maturity.

He walks towards the Justice Force.

Leo: That was some good thinking there, Mikey. Way to go!

Mikey: It’s just your classic good robot under evil control forced to attack superhero scenario. No biggie. Now, let’s talk about my membership.

Back to Lairs. The Others rest of TMNT, THNT and Mystery Teams are staying with Lairs. They are watching the TV News: Mystery Hero joins Justice Force. They are shocked at Nano.

Reporter: And with the addition of this mysterious Nano, the Justice Force completed their membership drive.

Don and Raph: Nano?!

Leo: Don’t ask.

Lewis: We’re successful in our Mission.

Raph: What’s the matter, Mikey, didn’t make the cut?

Mikey: In your dreams, you wanna be. The Turtle Titan is an official member of the Justice Force. Of course, I’m only on duty every third Wednesday of every fourth month and February twenty-ninth, when there is one.

TMNT #11-19 AUGUST 2003 - DECEMBER 2004 BY PETER LAIRD, JIM LAWSON AND ERIC TALBOT

SYNOPSIS (FROM COMIC VINE)

Two young women are attacked by vampires in a park in broad daylight - one escapes, but the other is killed. Meanwhile, the Turtles prepare Master Splinter's funeral pyre and hold his farewell services.

April searches through old boxes in the attic, trying to discover any clues to her true past. Donatello is invited by the Utroms to join them on an investigation of the deadly dinosaurs. Raphael gets into hot water when he encounters a group of vampires.

Donatello and the Utroms investigate the jungle where the strange dinosaurs had attacked a previous exploration team and discover a bizarre new creature - brandishing a weapon! Meanwhile, April and Casey continue to delve into her mysterious past while Michelangelo begins his new career as an ambassador/tour guide for visiting aliens. Raphael suffers from complications after being attacked by vampires.

Renet visits April. Donatello and the Utroms refine their investigation. The Fugitoid works with scientists to try to determine what's happening to Raphael. Mikey continues his tour guide duties. Leo meets with Karai to discuss a new problem.

Mike takes the alien princess out for some Earth food. Raph gets loose and battles Fugitoid and Raptarr. Leonardo and Karai face one of the mysterious warriors. Donatello and the Utroms are captured.

Leonardo narrowly defeats the strange warrior in a pitched battle. Mike and the Regenta spend quality time together. Donatello and the Utroms find some allies in their strange prison. Raphael feeds.

Mikey and the Regenta clash. Leo and Karai interrogate the mysterious warrior. Raphael trades punches with Leatherhead. Donatello and his allies have visitors.

Glurin repairs the Fugitoid after his encounter with Raphael. Leonardo discovers a strange book that the Foot are mass producing. Raphael returns to the Turtles' lair and sees a vision of Master Splinter. Mike saves the Regenta's life. Don and his friends discover the identity of their weird captors.

A mysterious visitor arrives on Earth. Mike and Seri's relationship grows more complicated. Don discovers the nature of his captors. The Fugitoid meets with Raphael. Leonardo questions Karai about the diabolical book that the Foot Clan is distributing.

REVIEW

You would think that nothing is happening, but there are a lot of significant events in these issues.

I feel like the Utrom visit threw out something that I always felt was good about TMNT, the idea that these characters could live in our world, we just don’t see them. Of course, it didn’t take long for super-heroes to make their way into TMNT so, it was possible and not, but the main idea was possible. In any case, I also like the decision of changing things so dramatically, it opened up  the road to many other possible stories. The Turtles have unlimited types of stories.

The four brothers take on very specific journeys, each of them very related to who they are (Raphael even looks scarier in the outside, you would think this is how he was in the inside all along). And each Turtle also laments not having the other turtle around. This was also what happened to Laird and Eastman, so I am not surprised.

Sure the pacing is not that good (Donatello’s story goes really slow), but in the letter pages, Laird pretty much said he didn’t care much about how comics were supposed to be written, he was writing the story he wanted to write, and I respect that (although I wouldn’t take it so good coming from Marvel and DC, indie comics are... different in this aspect).

The goodbye to Splinter was also very emotive, and we are seeing a pattern that Donatello has secrets, and his curiosity may put him in a dangerous road down the line.

Of course, Mikey becoming a father may be the strangest plot of all of these (even more than the heavily tried vampires).

You feel really invested in these characters, even April. There is a lot of drama going on... you can look at this as a Netflix show. But be sure to binge it.
