the amount of effort that goes into figuring out what to cook and eat every day is RIDICULOUS. i used to think people were so weird and boring for eating the same thing every single day but it truly does make life so much easier

#and also it's nice to know exactly what your food is going to taste like before you eat it #like when i get unfamiliar takeout. half the time i'm like. oh.#i'm going to have to eat all of this. or be judged.#so i just do my best to suppress my gag reflex and Get Through It and then it makes me sick so what was even the point #i think my parents spoiled me. and the most annoying thing is they're significantly better at cooking now than when i was a child #so when i go over i eat three delicious home cooked meals + snacks and they're all different and amazingggg #and then i come back to texas and i am like. googling 'how to feed myself healthy vegetarian'#because I do NOT have the time or money or energy to cook three beautiful delicious meals Just For Me #i think this would be easier with a partner #this whole week i bought a fuckton of mediterranean groceries and i have been making and eating food!!#mediterranean is close enough to indian that i like it well enough #unfortunately for me. i am def going to have to learn how to cook indian food to get through life. because i cannot fucking eat american #i don't know HOW you guys do it i'm so spoiled #i'm assuming meat is this really amazing wonderful thing that just adds flavor to everything #(it is physically repulsive to me and the couple times ive accidentally tasted it it's bleh so i refuse to partake)#i think it's an acquired taste but it magically makes ur food better. that is my understanding of how meat works #cause american vegetarian food is the saddest fucking thing i've ever tasted #i still think about my coworker i was talking to about my food issues and he was like. hi, is this guy telling me to put the marinade that had the raw meat in it directly on top of the finished dish. and then eat it

#re-reading this recipe three times looking for where it says to reserve some marinade before putting raw meat in it #or to cook some marinade to turn it into a sauce that doesn't still have raw meat germs in it #hm. hm.#this recipe also calls for rice wine and sake separately #not that there aren't other rice wines but my brother in christ can you be more specific #I'm gonna try it with mirin which will probably be good and also is what 1) I already have 2) I can get at the grocery store other than sak #ALSO furikake is like... a whole category of seasoning. it comes in a ton of different varieties lmao #me: oh 'Gourmet's furikake' ? is that a specific mix he tells you how to make somewhere in the book? #finding New Foods is always so hard so finding good ones like this is COOL #literally this is such a good food i can make so easy and can be made a bunch of different ways depending how i feel or what i want #i can make little snack wraps at home and they're great #like all i really need is tortillas and that's it #then I can just scavenge for whatever fillings i have like lettuce and meat and cheese and condiments and stuff #and i have at least like. three different combos i know i like #i just assemble a salad and then stick it in the tortilla and its so easy #and i can make it easier on myself making the salad too by just. using scissors #like the other day owen was fronting and did that and the entire rest of the system Collectively Realised that oh yeah you can do that #so using scissors to cut up the lettuce or like. deli meat or cheese slices. makes it a lot easier #good food for less function for us at least #just Throw Shit In A Bowl and then wrap it up in a tortilla 👍

#first off. HUGEE portions for the price. incredible #secondly. family owned #third and perhaps best of all. FUCKING DELICIOUS FOOD #they serve these aioli fries. i’m fucking addicted to them #they’re fries with parmesan and three different sauces and this incredibly tender meat (i think it’s pork but i forget)#and you can add shit to ‘em (i go for a fried egg green onions and extra sauce)#and they’re SO savory and just spicy enough to really deepen the flavor and. OUGH fantastic #omg i forgot to mention. this place has a HUGE menu. like fucking HUGE #over 50 items huge. it’s insane #love them <3333
