I am grateful to others that inspire and encourage my kids to follow their ideas. He first told @faeriegrl71 about his idea of a new colourway. Then he asked if there are any Male dyers and knitters, so I took him to @vogueknitlive in Columbus where he met @wtflock. After lots of brainstorming over the past week, today he went to work. The shop update this weekend will include his colourway The Darkness of Fairies. I just want to give my girl a big proud shout out for having accomplished so much with this unit. If you knew where we were last year, to compare it with the stamina and focus she has built this year, you would know this is not to brag, but give thanks. That big old stack is her list of new vocabulary words from the book Journey to the Center of the Earth. The pile on the left are words she mastered. There are a lot of words, so I am only expecting mastery of about 50% of them. The rest, are simply about exposure. Root words are a key in my book, so we stay up on those. This book rocked by the way-clearly we got a lot of vocabulary, but we were also able to do geography, plenty of earth science, and a little math when it came to converting fathoms and leagues and such.
