Okay, let me tell you a story:
Once upon a time, there was a prose translation of the Pearl Poet’s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. It was wonderfully charming and lyrical and perfect for use in a high school, and so a clever English teacher (as one did in the 70s) made a scan of the book for her students, saved it as a pdf, and printed copies off for her students every year. In true teacher tradition, she shared the file with her colleagues, and so for many years the students of the high school all studied Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from the same (very badly scanned) version of this wonderful prose translation.
In time, a new teacher became head of the English Department, and while he agreed that the prose translation was very wonderful he felt that the quality of the scan was much less so. Also in true teacher tradition, he then spent hours typing up the scan into a word processor, with a few typos here and there and a few places where he was genuinely just guessing wildly at what the scan actually said. This completed word document was much cleaner and easier for the students to read, and so of course he shared it with his colleagues, including his very new wide-eyed faculty member who was teaching British Literature for the first time (this was me).
As teachers sometimes do, he moved on for greener (ie, better paying) pastures, leaving behind the word document, but not the original pdf scan. This of course meant that as I was attempting to verify whether a weird word was a typo or a genuine artifact of the original translation, I had no other version to compare it to. Being a good card-holding gen zillenial I of course turned to google, making good use of the super secret plagiarism-checking teacher technique “Quotation Marks”, with an astonishing result:
Tumblr media
By which I mean literally one result.
For my purposes, this was precisely what I needed: a very clean and crisp scan that allowed me to make corrections to my typed edition: a happily ever after, amen.
But beware, for deep within my soul a terrible Monster was stirring. Bane of procrastinators everywhere, my Curiosity had found a likely looking rabbit hole. See, this wonderfully clear and crisp scan was lacking in two rather important pieces of identifying information: the title of the book from which the scan was taken, and the name of the translator. The only identifying features were the section title “Precursors” (and no, that is not the title of the book, believe me I looked) and this little leaf-like motif by the page numbers:
Tumblr media
(Remember the leaf. This will be important later.)
We shall not dwell at length on the hours of internet research that ensued—how the sun slowly dipped behind the horizon, grading abandoned in shadows half-lit by the the blue glow of the computer screen—how google search after search racked up, until an email warning of “unusual activity on your account” flashed into momentary existence before being consigned immediately and with some prejudice to the digital void—how one third of the way through a “comprehensive but not exhaustive” list of Sir Gawain translators despair crept in until I was left in utter darkness, screen black and eyes staring dully at the wall.
Above all, let us not admit to the fact that such an afternoon occurred not once, not twice, but three times.
Suffice to say, many hours had been spent in fruitless pursuit before a new thought crept in: if this book was so mysterious, so obscure as to defeat the modern search engine, perhaps the answer lay not in the technologies of today, but the wisdom of the past. Fingers trembling, I pulled up the last blast email that had been sent to current and former faculty and staff, and began to compose an email to the timeless and indomitable woman who had taught English to me when I was a student, and who had, after nearly fifty years, retired from teaching just before I returned to my alma mater.
Tumblr media
After staring at the email for approximately five or so minutes, I winced, pressed send, and let my plea sail out into the void. I cannot adequately describe for you the instinctive reverence I possess towards this teacher; suffice to say that Ms English was and is a woman of remarkable character, as much a legend as an institution as a woman of flesh and blood whose enduring influence inspired countless students. There is not a student taught by Ms. English who does not have a story to tell about her, and her decline in her last years of teaching and eventual retirement in the face of COVID was the end of an era. She still remembers me, and every couple months one of her contemporaries and dear friends who still works as a guidance counsellor stops me in the hall to tell me that Ms. English says hello and that she is thrilled that I am teaching here—thrilled that I am teaching honors students—thrilled that I am now teaching the AP students. “Tell her I said hello back,” I always say, and smile.
Ms. English is a legend, and one does not expect legends to respond to you immediately. Who knows when a woman of her generation would next think to check her email? Who knows if she would remember?
The day after I sent the email I got this response:
Tumblr media
My friends, I was shaken. I was stunned. Imagine asking God a question and he turns to you and says, “Hold on one moment, let me check with my predecessor.”
The idea that even Ms. English had inherited this mysterious translation had never even occurred to me as a possibility, not when Ms. English had been a faculty member since the early days of the school. How wonderful, I thought to myself. What a great thing, that this translation is so obscure and mysterious that it defeats even Ms. English.
A few days later, Ms. English emailed me again:
Tumblr media
(I had, in fact searched through both the English office and the Annex—a dark, weirdly shaped concrete storage area containing a great deal of dust and many aging copies of various books—a few days prior. I had no luck, sadly.)
At last, though, I had a title and a description! I returned to my internet search, only to find to my dismay that there was no book that exactly matched the title. I found THE BRITISH TRADITION: POETRY, PROSE, AND DRAMA (which was not black and the table of contents I found did not include Sir Gawain) and THE ENGLISH TRADITION, a super early edition of the Prentice Hall textbooks we use today, which did have a black cover but there were absolutely zero images I could find of the table of contents or the interior and so I had no way of determining if it was the correct book short of laying out an unfortunate amount of cold hard cash for a potential dead end.
So I sighed, and relinquished my dreams of solving the mystery. Perhaps someday 30 years from now, I thought, I’ll be wandering through one of those mysterious bookshops filled with out of print books and I’ll pick up a book and there will be the translation, found out last!
So I sighed, and told the whole story to my colleagues for a laugh. I sent screenshots of Ms. English’s emails to my siblings who were also taught by her. I told the story to my Dad over dinner as my Great Adventure of the Week.
…my friends. I come by my rabbit-hole curiosity honestly, but my Dad is of a different generation of computer literacy and knows a few Deep Secrets that I have never learned. He asked me the title that Ms. English gave me, pulled up some mysterious catalogue site, and within ten minutes found a title card. There are apparently two copies available in libraries worldwide, one in Philadelphia and the other in British Columbia. I said, “sure, Dad,” and went upstairs. He texted me a link. Rolling my eyes, I opened it and looked at the description.
Tumblr media
Huh, I thought. Four volumes, just like Ms. English said. I wonder…
Armed with a slightly different title and a publisher, I looked up “The English Tradition: Fiction macmillan” and the first entry is an eBay sale that had picture of the interior and LO AND BEHOLD:
Tumblr media
THE LEAF. LOOK AT THE LEAF.
My dad found it! He found the book!!
Except for one teensy tiny problem which is that the cover of the book is uh a very bright green and not at all black like Ms. English said. Alas, it was a case of mistaken identity, because The English Tradition: Poetry does have a black cover, although it is the fiction volume which contains Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
And so having found the book at last, I have decided to purchase it for the sum of $8, that ever after the origins of this translation may once more be known.
In this year of 2022 this adventure took place, as this post bears witness, the end, amen.

Cool Kanji Party Tricks
Or “How I Use Kanji to Impress My Friends”
Learning kanji can be daunting, especially for those just starting out in their Japanese studies. There are two thousand standard kanji needed to read a newspaper, but Japanese people know and use many thousands more. There are several methods available to self study kanji (just do a quick Google search to find the most popular), but any serious study of kanji takes time. Lots of time. It can feel like studying kanji over and over is a waste of time, especially since you have the internet at your fingertips to look things up at any time. However, I really believe that having a good foundation in kanji is essential to mastering Japanese, and I wanted to share what I call "cool party tricks" to encourage you in your kanji studies.
Tumblr media
What are "cool kanji party tricks"? This is just a list of things I have noticed that having a solid understanding of kanji will allow you to do. I have been studying Japanese for more than 10 years, and most of these things I just noticed one day in an a-ha moment, and even though someone had told me for years that learning and practicing kanji is important, it took several realizations for me to truly grasp what that meant. I would say that many of these require an intermediate grasp of the language to be able to use consistently, but I think that you can start doing any of these after achieving a basic foundation in the Japanese language.
So when your hand is cramped from writing the same kanji for hours, when on'yomi and kun'yomi have become swear words, and when you lost that one little point on the exam because the kanji you were supposed to use was only off by one stroke from the kanji you actually used... I hope you will remember this post and feel a little bit encouraged.
Find the appropriate kanji to use when typing in the romaji/hiragana on a computer/phone
Since I started my Japanese studies during high school, the formal classes I was taking had me writing out kanji for homework in order to remember it and to be able to pass the quizzes and exams. So I spent many hours writing out kanji only to end up with hand cramps and ugly looking written characters. It took ages and the stream of kanji that I had to learn seemed endless. However, one benefit I quickly saw was that I was able to quickly adapt to typing in Japanese on a computer/phone because I was able to correctly identify the kanji that I had practiced, and knew which one to select when several choices came up.
In Japanese, many words have the same sounds but different kanji and meanings (these are called homophones). So when you type in the hiragana or romaji for a word into the keyboard, it will prompt you with a list of kanji to choose from. Being able to correctly select the right one is something I suddenly realized I could do one day, even if I hadn't used the word often. I knew and could recall a larger number of kanji than I thought, and I could eliminate any incorrect kanji for the word I was trying to use. Having a good solid foundation in kanji characters means that you don't have to go look up every word in the dictionary to check that you have the right kanji, and you also don't have to leave the word in kana because you can't guess the right kanji, but rather you are confident enough to pick the correct kanji for the word on your own. This makes typing more efficient and saves time!
Understand the meaning of a word just by looking at the kanji
When you know a significant amount of kanji and what they mean, sometimes when you encounter new compound words you can guess at what they mean. Or if you are like me and sometimes forget how to read words you are already supposed to know, you can magically relearn them by looking at the kanji and interpreting the meaning. So sometimes when I am reading text in Japanese and I see a compound I don't know, I can interpret the meaning from context and from my understanding of the individual kanji, and continue through the text without stopping to look up the word. This helps you to get the gist of a text without having to look up all the words, and is how you can start reading more advanced books or manga.
Guess at the pronunciation of a word from the kanji
On the flip side of the previous cool party trick is being able to guess how to pronounce a word by knowing the on'yomi and kun'yomi of the kanji, and therefore being able to guess at the pronunciation of a word. Unless the word has 人 or 生 in it. This helps most when reading out loud in class or to another person. It will also help you to feel smug about yourself while reading a book that is of a more advanced level and being able to determine the reading of several compound words in a row.
Understanding a new word using kanji clues
As an extension of the previous cool party tricks, I eventually reached the point where I could hear a word in conversation that I had never heard before, and figure out the meaning using kanji clues.
For example, not all Japanese people know English (shocking, right?), and busting out your phone to look up every single word you don't know can become burdensome in continuing the flow of a conversation. So, if I hear a word that I don't know during a conversation (and the continuation or flow of the conversation hinges on my understanding of the word), I will stop the person and either ask what kanji the word is written with, or if I have a guess I will ask "is this using the kanji for X?" This way I can gain clues to the key word without stopping the flow of conversation too much. (It's also a fun way to show off to Japanese speakers.)
For example, if you hear the word jishin (じしん) in conversation, and you aren't sure which meaning the speaker intended:
自信 self-confidence
自身 one's self
You can ask:
"Did you mean 自信 (jishin) with the "shin" from 信用 (shin'you) or did you mean 自身 (jishin) with the "mi" (another pronunciation of 身) as in one's body?"
Then the person can respond:
"Oh, I mean 身 (mi)! As in, 自分自身 (jibun jishin), or one's self."
Then, you can continue the conversation, having an understanding of what the speaker is saying and not having to take out your phone to translate as often. This also can give the person you are speaking to a better sense of your level and help them to tailor the conversation to you.
[I hope this conveys what I am trying to illustrate ^.^]
TL;DR: Kanji is Fun
Honestly, when kanji clicks and you can read words or understand their meanings, it's like deciphering a secret code, and this is one of the things I find so cool about Japanese, and why I have studied it for so long. So if you are just starting out and are daunted by kanji - don't worry. I am still daunted by kanji, but I also find it a useful tool to improve my knowledge of Japanese and to communicate in a way many people cannot. I hope this information was useful and inspires you to suffer through learn more kanji.

Self / Independent Learner's Guide to Language Learning From Zero
-a mini study plan I used this for Spanish, French and Italian, it is my favourite way of starting to learn. It won't teach you the langauge but if this is your first time, if you feel confused and don't know where to begin, this is for you! -this is kinda romance langauge based but might give you ideas if you are learning from a different family too -this is very notebook / writing based since i prefer learning that way Step 1: Preperation
First of all, ask yourself "do i already have some amount of immersion in this langauge?" As humans, we learn from immersion a lot. Songs, but especially visual media is incredibly heplful. I never studied japanese but after watching a few animes i picked up 5-10 random words. Passive vocabulary, being familiar to most common words will be your biggest friend. If the answer is no, before start studying ANYTHING do some immersion. e.g. I watched dix pour cent for French and learned arrêt which means stop because characters were shouting to each other all the time.
After making sure you have some immersion or if you already have some, PREPARE YOUR RESOURCES. Make a file in your computer, reblog tumblr posts, save links. Search for pdfs in google. (x language a1 pdf / x langauge a1 grammar book / x language a1 reading) Free PDF's and and useful websites. The more the merrier. Why? Because when you actually start learning you will slowly realise them half of them are not actually useful, too advance, too simple, not in your preffered style etc. You will en up using same handful amount of resources again and again but before that, you have to TRY EVERYTHING. You are unique and so will be your learning process.
Google x language A1 curriculum. (you can try adding "pdf" at the end of sentence as well) It "probably/ hopefully" exists. If you can't find that way, learn which offical exam is necessary (e.g. for French it's DELF/DALF, in english there is IELTS and so many more) If you are lucky, you can find a langauge teaching enstitute's curriculum and you can find in what order they teach things. This was very helpful for me because sometimes you don't know what to study next, or just want to visualise what do you need to learn, it is helpful. I printed one out and paste it to the back cover of my notebook. You won't need this one YET. I'll explain in a second. Keep reading.
Get a notebook. I don't prefer books while learning from zero because it will be filled with vocabulary you don't know. My pereference is no squares no lines empty ass notebook and colorful pens. I'm a person of shitty doodles. I love to draw and visualise things. It really helps my brain. In A1, your knowledge is absouletly zero and your brain is about the explode with realising GREAT MASS of knowledge you need to learn in order to be "fluent" . So keep things away from being "too much" if you want to avoid a burnout.
Set a timer. If you want to avoid burnout, the secret is always quit when you feel like you can go another round happily. Quit when you are dopamine high. If you study too much, next day you'll wake up tired, want to rest etc. and make it harder for you to create a habit. I did this mistake with French by studying 4-5 hours everyday for around 30 days. I completed my challenge, completly quit and then didn't come back for MONTHS.
You will be re-studying A LOT. Language learning is repetition. You will start by studying "the A1 curriculum". But, because this is your first time your focus will be on the vocabulary and general comprehension. You are trying to re-wire your brain, and learn a different way of thinking and living. It's not easy. It will take time. It will be painful at times. But it is 100% worth it.
After you finished studying your curriculum, you'll take a short break and then study the curriculum AGAIN. For a second time. Because you already know the basics, this time you will be able to focus more on the little things you weren't able to comprehend the last time. e.g. articles or whatever little frustaring thing your langauge has. Also focus more on basic prononciation and especially reading aloud. Find a realistic text-to-reader. Copy-paste a text. Listen and repeat.
Get a new Youtube and Instagram account dedicated to langauge study. How many good resources exists and where they are is really depens on which langauge you are learning. For english, youtube is better. For French, instagram is better. You have to see for yourself. If you get a seperate account for your langauge algorith will learn faster and you won't be distracted by other stuff. Short form engaging videos are the best for absolute beginners. Re-watch things and try to repeat them out loud. It's called shadowing and is your future best friend.
If you want to learn how to speak, you first need to how to write. If you can't write sentences without looking at google translate (or reverso) you won't be able to make up sentences in your head. If you want to learn how to write, your first need to learn how to read. You need to start in this order but also don't be perfectionist. Do it even if you do it wrong. They will be fixed eventually and won't stick. Record yourself speaking even if the text you are reading is 90% google translated. Why? Beacuse speaking will enhance your vocabulary in a way no other thing can and that's the core of reading. So this isn't a linear thing. It's actually a circle!
Step Two! Ok, Sadie, i got my notebooks and read through all the warnings where do i start? *First page: [] means written is target langauge
[x notebook] x= your target langauge
Add something cute and make you feel happy to open up the notebook. It can a drawing, a picture, anything. First page is your entrance to your new home. Make it welcoming.
*[My name is X. I am Y years old. I live in Z.] *Greetings. Main articles if there are any. Yes, no, please, thank you. *What is your name, what do you do for living, how are you, where are you from, how old are you, how many langauges do you speak, numbers from 0-100. If there are multiple way of saying these things and probably there are, just write one. You will eventually learn others. Baby steps. *write a basic ass text of two people having a conversation asking and answering these questions.
*the alphabet and how to pronounce the letters. basic letter combinations that change into a different sound. a youtube video about this 100% exists.
*personal pronouns and if there is a "am/is/are" verb the conjugation of it. (in spanish there is two unfortunately) *artciles and basic noun endings. a couple exemples of nouns in x form but takes y article. *first 5 most common verbs. learn the conjugation, try writing basic ass sentences. (e.g. to come, go, have, speak)
*three more verbs (e.g. to eat, can, to want)
*take some time to fully comprehend. check your curriculum list to look and see if you want to add anything. e.g.for spanish that can be ser vs estar, for spanish is can be "how to ask questions in french" becaue it's way harder compared to other langauges.
*take some break from grammar and learn some vocab maybe. it can be colors, or feelings. (i am sad, i am hungry etc.)
*start studying most common verbs. usually a form of categorization exists. usually it's verb ending. (unless it's a language like turkish where every verb either ends with -mek or -mak lol.) Start with 10- 15 most common verbs. You will also be learning some vocabulary by default. (try to stick to regular verbs if you can, if not that's fine) (Do not learn any verbs you won't be able to use immediately.)
*Learn basic adjectives and how they work so you can form more detailed sentences.
*After comprehending how to form basic positive negative sentences and some verbs, congratulate yourself, because you deserve it! *Learn how tell time. "What time is it? It's x'o clock."
*learn clothing and how to simply describe physical look e.g. hair color, eye color, beard, glasses...
*learn the verbs of daily routine. be able to write a generic ass "i wake up, i do breakfast, i eat lunch at school, i sleep" sort of text.
*demonstratives. this that. these. those. you can add some vocabulary you like. this is a cat. this is a tree. you can add placement adjectives now or later. (the cat is under the sofa. the bird is on the table etc.)
*Now you know a lot of things! Take some time and focus a bit more on the vocab, let your brain process things, do some passive immersion. avoid a burnout at all costs. *learn how to say "there is" (if you want more vocab transportation and city centre themes can be included.) *learn how to talk about your hobbies. This is the generic A1 curriuculum. You are able to understand basic things, you have a generic comprehension. That's all it takes to be considered A1. If you want to pass it though, what you need is a good grammar source. For French and Spanish Kwiziq was very useful. I couldn't find a good online grammar resource for Italian yet. (please ask more experienced langblrs for recs.) Slowly learn more vocab (since A1 is more vocab based. If you hate Anki and Quizlet stuff check Linguno. Actually check Linguno anyway it's a banger and i'm gonna die on that hill.)
If you don't have have native friend to ask questiones and you don't have any ethical concerns ChatGPT can be useful. I'm using it for French for months. Why are we using this particle here, why this and not that, can you give me some example sentences.... you can play guess the animal, ask for writing prompts and then make ChatGpt find and explain your mistakes to you. It's very handy.
*Don't be scared to share about your journey on Tumblr and most importantly ENJOY!

Walking carefully through the corridors so as not to impede the doctors, nurses and orderlies milling around the place while performing their life-saving duties, you nodded politely to the two heroes sitting talking together outside the bustling hospital room as you passed by to begin your daily visits.
Like most people in this particular hospital, you too had witnessed the chaos and upheaval caused by recent events.  But you had tried to steer clear of it.  Nothing against the agents, heroes or government law enforcement officers that had spent the last few weeks disturbing the peace of these sterile halls, but patients who ended up here had usually been through enough and the S.T.R.I.K.E. agents especially didn't give off a feeling of peace and safety.  Quite the opposite really.  Still this was neither your problem to solve then or apparently anyone else's to solve now.
Back now to what passed for a busy, yet smoothly running hospital, Sam Wilson and Natasha Romanoff were now the only reminder of the extraordinary events that had taken place within these walls.  At least outside of that particular hospital room anyway.  Behind the closed door where doctors finished up making Steve Rogers as comfortable as possible, the anticipation for news of his condition and the fallout from his actions still lingered in the air while his friends waited to finally be granted access to him.  But that was two days ago.
Taking up residence now in the chair on the right side of the bed as Marvin Gaye's Trouble Man emanated from what looked like an ipod, Sam had hated to leave him alone.  The thought of Steve Rogers waking up alone once again without a human face to greet him for the second time in his short life didn't sit well with him, but his choices were sadly limited.  Given what had happened at the Potomac and the idiots in Washington baying for blood, his attention was currently needed to back up Natasha, which is how you ended up here.
Being a volunteer who gave up her free time to just sit with patients who had no one in this world to visit with them or simply give a few hours relief to a family member that had an errand they had to run or just needed a decent shower and nap in their own bed, the food, drinks and magazines you brought Sam had been greatly appreciated.  But nowhere near as appreciated as your attitude.  Having read about and admired Captain America since you were a child, you unlike most other people, were able to set aside the fan girl persona and see the fragile human buried beneath the cuts, bruises, wires and hospital bedding.  Sitting haphazardly on the other chair some orderly had procured as the super soldier still slept next to you, your mind had trouble focusing now on the book in your hands as you wondered what he must be going through.
Having woken up in a time no longer his own to discover only fragments of the world he once knew, he had set aside his own pain and given this new world the hero it deserved.  Throwing himself back into service by working tirelessly to fulfill Erskine's legacy and honor Bucky's sacrifice, the last few months had shattered the illusion that this new time was any different than the one he had left behind.
Beginning with the revelation that the United States government still believed in ending wars before they had even begun, this time through advanced weaponry, the hits just kept on coming when an attempt to assassinate S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury before his eyes had revealed that the World War II criminal group known as HYDRA still functioned and with the help of his newly discovered friend James Buchanan Barnes, now operating under the moniker of The Winter Soldier, had successfully infiltrated various levels of government and was finally ready to seize control of this new world.
Standing up to their tyranny once again as he always had and fighting his one time friend in a brutal battle which landed him here and left a massive wreck in the middle of the Potomac river, not to mention the Black Widow's dumping of every U.S. secret intelligence file, both S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA alike, your heart couldn't help but go out to him and wonder what now lay ahead for the First Avenger.  Could he rally once more and continue being the hero he always was?  Would the government even let him?  Or would this be the final act of betrayal that broke him and revealed that in the end all he really was is human?
Closing your book as your eyes now lingered over the monitors recording every aspect of his condition, this train of thought was easily lost to you however when Sam Wilson returned and thanked you for watching over his friend as he sank into his usual spot beside Steve's bed.  Smiling tenderly at him as you tried to figure out how he too was not currently occupying one of the hospital rooms like his friend, you quickly shook the thought away as you stifled a yawn while handing Sam a piece of paper with your phone number and told him to call you anytime if he needed anything.  Thanking you once again before saying goodbye, you then left the heroes behind and headed off to the next patient who needed a friendly smile and a kind word.
Tumblr media
And so that's how the first few days of this extraordinary adventure had begun.  Stopping by throughout the day between your regulars, as you liked to call them, you'd drop off a few welcome items for Sam or Natasha before asking after Steve and then moving on to those who were without friends or family.  But nights however were spent by his side when even earth's mightiest heroes couldn't circumvent the ban on visitors staying overnight.  It was only after all your years of carefully cultivating relationships within the hospital hierarchy that got you around that particular obstacle.  Which is why you were the one there when it happened.
Resting in your now usual chair as comfortably as possible, having been told by Sam that the patient had briefly awakened, your fitful sleep was interrupted by noises and shuffling from the room’s other occupant.  Waking suddenly as the noises grew louder, you opened your bleary eyes to find the blond avenger caught in the grip of a nightmare you couldn't even dare to imagine.  Rising from the chair and laying your hand carefully upon his massive chest, you bent closer to try and soothe his troubled mind.
"Mr. Rogers?  Steve.  If you can hear me, I need you to relax," you coaxed as your hand moved across his chest and trailed down his arm to grab a hold of his.  Lacing your fingers through his as a means of being his anchor, your breath caught in your throat momentarily as he opened his eyes before you found your voice again and continued, "you're going to be all right.  I'm here with you and you are not alone."
Turning his head now in acknowledgement of your presence, your eyes met briefly before he closed them again and fell back into the abyss from whence he had just emerged.  And that became the pattern for the next two nights.  Talking him down when he woke up calling for Bucky or just rambling some other incoherent mumbo jumbo while you waited until morning to relay the news to the doctors in the hopes that they would be able to help, your concern for him only grew with each new ray of morning sunshine as doctors confirmed that only time and perhaps therapy would alleviate these particular issues.  And for that he would have to remain conscious.
And so it was that this became a secret that seemed to exist solely between you and Steve as the hospital fell into relative slumber and the closed blinds hid your comforting actions from the world outside.  Which you suspected was part of the reason you now woke up during another visiting with him to find your head laying on his shoulder and your body flush against his.  Embarrassing and unwelcome as that had been however, it paled in comparison to the revelation of Steve's position.
Opening your eyes to find his left hand resting on your ass while his right held yours over his crotch, feeling the warmth of the muscle beneath your palm was enough for you to search back through your mind for the particular memory of how this highly intimate yet wholly inappropriate situation had come to be.  Remembering how once again his trauma had woken him to find you calming his inner storm, this time however he found his sane voice just long enough to beg you to lay beside him while he drifted back to sleep.
Hesitating long enough to see the pleading cloud his features, you quickly slipped off your boots and climbing carefully into the bed beside him, gingerly snuggled next to him as his breathing relaxed and both of you slowly returned to peaceful slumber.  Now however morning had arrived and if you didn't want to be found in this compromising position, action needed to be taken.  Carefully and successfully freeing yourself from his grasp, though his left hand proved a tad harder to release, you had just sat upright on the side of the bed when a strong palm settled on your back and alerted you to his ever improving condition.
"Hey there, is everything okay?" he asked, still somewhat hoarsely as his hand moved tenderly up and down the outline of your spine.
"Sure," you answered, turning your head slightly to look back at the rapidly healing super soldier.  "I guess we just fell asleep again.  Anyway, Sam will be here soon and I have a few other patients to visit with today," you replied as you moved from the bed to the chair on his other side and began lacing up your boots.  A task that kept you so preoccupied that you failed to notice the despondent look that settled on the super soldier's features at the mention of you leaving him.
Reaching out his hand to you however as you finished this task, you took it and should have wondered what precisely he was thinking at the next words to leave his lips.  "You were tired.  You work too hard sweetheart.  Promise me you won't stay here with other patients all day," he asked as he ran his fingers along the back of his hand.  "I miss your warmth when you're not here," and kissing the back of your hand softly, you just had enough time to pull it away and compose yourself once more before Sam entered the room with what you suspected was some food and more magazines.
"Hey Steve.  Pretty volunteer," he smiled as he moved past your now standing figure to sit himself in the chair you had only recently vacated.  "How's our super soldier today, nurse?" he asked with a wink before pulling out a styrofoam cup and handing it to you.
"Thank you for this," you answered, taking the offered cup and bringing it carefully to your lips in the hopes the hot beverage inside would settle your nerves before continuing, "and you know I'm no nurse, Sam Wilson.  Still," you said, turning your gaze now back to Steve, "he does appear to be improving every day.  Hopefully in a few days he'll be able to go home," you smiled while failing once again to notice the dark cloud that settled on his features.
Giving Sam a quick note on things you felt the incoming doctor's should be aware of, at least as much as you were comfortable with, you then said your goodbyes to the two heroes, reminded Sam he could reach you on your phone if he needed anything and with a tender smile at Steve promised to be there again when Sam had to leave for the evening.  Then heading down to your car, a quick trip home for a shower and breakfast had you back at the hospital in record time to try and distract yourself from the nightly events.  A task which didn't go as smoothly as you hoped however..
Tumblr media
Joining some of your favorite patients in the activity room for some games and a chat upon your return, it seemed word of the new celebrity had traveled far within these walls but unlike most youngsters, age had given the elderly residents a different perspective on the man who now refused to leave your thoughts even as he rested a couple of floors beneath your feet.
"I heard his speech was inspiring," Matilda mentioned to Audrey as you concentrated on the Scrabble letters before you and tried to ignore their conversation and the tugging on your heart.
"Well now that's hardly surprising," Jake interrupted from his spot by the window, "a fellow of his character and experience is bound to know words matter every bit as much as deeds.  Mark my words, the man who takes up the shield after him will be made of the same grit and integrity."
"Wait Jake, what do you mean the man after him?  Who said Steve is giving up the shield?" you interrupted as his words stole your attention from the game before you.
"Steve?" Matilda and Audrey both asked in unison with inquisitive glances you knew all too well would have you answering some awkward questions later but for now your full focus was reserved solely for the army veteran preparing to pass on some secret insight.
"Oh young one," Jake laughed, looking at you now and the other interested ladies with eyes filled with years of knowledge one could only acquire from all the life he had observed around him, "no one can carry on forever, not even a super soldier.  And would we even want him to?  Surely he has given enough and the man deserves to rest."
Turning back around to his jigsaw puzzle as your gaze returned to Matilda and Audrey's nodding heads, a part of you wondered what a world without the super soldier would look like but as the memory of his bruised body resting beside yours called out to you, you realized the old man was right.  Steve had given more than one man ever should and deserved to find peace before he lost even more of himself.  And it was still with this thought occupying your mind that you opened the door to Steve's room later that evening to find him sleeping soundly as the cares of the world currently seemed to have left him in peace.
Standing in the doorway noticing now for the first time the changes these past few days had brought, the conversations with your regulars made you realize something had to change.  Looking more closely now to see the cuts and bruises all but gone you knew that unless Steve voluntarily walked away there was nothing much that could stop him.  And that thought frightened you now more than any other.
Thinking back on what he had looked like the first day you saw him lying here all stitched up and shuddering at the nightmares that held him prisoner most nights as his consciousness slowly returned, a part of you wondered could Steve even walk away.  What would it take for him to even contemplate passing on that burden to another person?  It was a question that would have to await an answer however as a hand closed on your shoulder and a gentle "hi" brought you back to the present and all but gave you a heart attack at the same time.
"Shit Sam warn a girl before you sneak up on her," you replied quietly as you turned to face his now familiar presence while your hand rested on your heaving chest in an effort to calm your racing heartbeat.
"Sorry," he smiled and he couldn't help but notice the way your eyes flicked back to Steve and your body relaxed slightly upon noticing that sleep still held him in its embrace.  Giving one last glance over at his friend, he then gently took you by the elbow and leading you outside, closed the door silently before sitting both of you on the empty seats he and Natasha had occupied the first time you saw them.
Handing you a drink as now seemed to be his other customary greeting, enough time had been spent in his and Natasha's presence now to know that something was bothering him.  Reaching out your hand to grip his and reassure him that he could confide anything in you, you had to admit to being taken aback when Sam told you S.H.I.E.L.D. had suggested moving Steve to one of their own facilities to oversee his continued recovery and for added safety.
Furiously rising from the chair and reminding Sam in a less than favorable voice of all the pain S.H.I.E.L.D. had caused him, the eerie silence now descending on this bustling corridor was enough to tell you that your particular outburst was no longer a private matter between those who cared most for Steve Rogers.
"Sorry Sam," you replied somewhat calmer now while looking around and raising your hand slightly to let the ward nurses know all was well before continuing, "I know I'm just an ordinary civilian and I know they're not all bad, but surely you don't want a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent anywhere near him?" you asked, looking back once more towards the door that hid his resting form.  Hearing his phone buzz once more and sighing as he looked at the caller ID, you knew from his resigned features that the conversation was over for now.  Sam was needed elsewhere and you were now more determined than ever to somehow do what you could to shield Steve from any more harm.  But what could someone like you possibly do?
Saying good night to Sam and closing the door between you, Steve and the outside world, your mind worried with what Sam had told you and the uneasy feeling taking root in your gut.  Starting by once again shutting all the blinds that now made up your nightly routine, you took one look at Steve's sleeping form before walking back towards the door.  Knowing in your heart it was not your place or within hospital protocol to lock the door and acknowledging that nothing you did would really be able to prevent determined S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from forcing their way inside, your instincts still told you that something was better than nothing.
Heading back to Steve's bedside and checking through his charts, machines and vitals, all the information practically confirmed the same thing ... he was now much closer to being recovered than he had been previously.  Nodding your head and straightening your shoulders, you determined your course of action and set about putting it in motion.  Picking up the spare chair that usually cradled your sleeping body when not soothing Steve through a nightmare, you walked back towards the door and turning the lock then placed the back of said chair under the handle for good measure.  Then removing your shoes, you gingerly climbed up into the bed beside Steve and watched the door until sleep finally claimed you.  But given recent events S.H.I.E.L.D. really should have been the least of your concerns.
Waking sometime later in the night to find yourself no longer clothed, Steve's fingers playing with your hardening nipples brought your current predicament into sharp focus.  Calling out his name and squirming against him, Steve stopped what he was doing and laid you on your back before speaking.
"Hey sweetheart, if you want me to stop just say so," he whispered as your eyes now locked on his wandering hand and his eyes so blue and full of life for the time since arriving here flicked up to gauge your reaction.
Unable to think clearly or form any tangible words in that moment, his hand moving further down your body was the catalyst you needed however to spring into action.  Bringing your hand up to his and thereby stopping it from reaching your now exposed pussy, you found your voice long enough to ask him what exactly he was doing and how you had ended up in your current state of undress.
"I'm sorry," he replied with a child-like smirk, twisting his hand up to face yours and locking your fingers together before continuing, "it's just that I woke up to find you lying next to me again and I guess in my addled state I yearned to feel your flesh against my palm.  I find it oddly soothing," he finished and the look in his eyes reminded you of that first night he had begged you to lay beside him until he fell asleep.  Focusing on this memory as his fingers flexed against yours, you now acknowledged that that may very well have been the beginning of your downfall.
Sighing deeply then as you thought of all the women the world over who would give anything to be in your current position, his lips beginning to explore your neck and shoulders appeared to be doing wonders at lowering your defenses as a moan you barely recognised as yours left your lips.  Grinning now as his wet tongue joined his skillful lips and your hand felt looser in his grasp, the resulting "oh fuck, god" that next bubbled forth from your throat told him that perhaps you were more responsive to him than you were willing to admit and it only spurred him on more.
Continuing to suck and nibble along your neck as his hand left yours and made its way between your thighs, he was actually shocked when his digits came in contact with the wetness waiting there.  But if you were honest with yourself it didn’t really throw you for a loop.  Thinking back now to all the concern that had slowly started to creep into your thoughts of him, his fingers making their home within your channel now had you thinking totally different thoughts and as they somehow found a particular spot that had you clamping hard around him, you knew you were done for.
Begging now for him to apply more pressure and make you come, Steve proved himself every bit the gentleman you suspected him to be as he moved between your legs and tilted his hand at just the right angle to have you seeing stars.  Writhing beneath him now as his fingers continued to caress your walls, his thumb moving up to press against your clit was the final stimulation you needed to lose yourself to the waves of pleasure assaulting your body as your release gushed out around him.  Bending down then to lap it up as your ragged breathing made you fearful of passing out, the now impressive tool between Steve's legs that caught your eye told your night was far from over.
Flipping you over and laying you on your stomach, your blissed out state still didn't make you confused enough to not realize what was about to happen however.  Feeling Steve's heavy weight pressing down upon you met the memory of exactly where you were and your senses snapped into sharp focus just as his warm breath ghosted by your ear.
"Now that I've shown you what my fingers can do are you ready to let my meat invade your pussy and drive you to heights you never dared imagine?"
Hiding your face in his pillow and trying not to laugh at this ridiculous question as the super soldier flexed his hips and ran his hard length against your still dripping folds, your squirming body gave him that extra confirmation he required.  You weren't rejecting him.  Bending forwards more now to rest his lips against your ear, your body froze momentarily as the words he murmured confirmed the situation you found yourself in.
"So glad you seem to be on board sweetheart, but if you really want us to continue you're gonna have to use your words," and taking the "yes please" that left your lips as his cue, the super soldier caught his head on your entrance and thrust home.
Crying out as he entered you, he kissed your hair and shushed your whimpers as he buried his massive length within you while still being kind enough to let you adjust to his intrusion.  Murmuring words of comfort and encouragement in your ear, he didn't have long to wait before your body responded and he felt your hips squirm beneath him.  Easing some of his considerable bulk off your smaller frame then while still reminding you of the power he held over you, the slapping of his hips against your ass as his powerful tool stretched you beyond your limits was enough to have your body coming around his cock for the first time while your constricting walls forced him to add his own release moments later.
Remaining painfully hard within you as his hips continued their punishing pace, you tried to reach back and slow his pace only to have Steve yank your hands behind your back and now pull you towards him in a way your body was most definitely not meant to bend.  Pleading with him to remember that you weren't enhanced like he was, sanity prevailed thankfully as he eased up on his thrusts while still bringing your back flat against his chest so his phallus now hit you at a sharper angle that had you hurtling towards another orgasm even as the aftershocks of the first one still assaulted your trembling frame.
Coaxing you through your ongoing high as you now felt more of his cum flood your core, you might have thought about the consequences of his actions had he not been so bold as to paint a picture of the future he envisioned with you.  Continuing to fuck you over and over and over again as one orgasm ended and another began, you thought you might pass out again but Steve telling you about finding Bucky and the three of you raising a massive family together coupled with him stopping just long enough to allow you regain some sense of self, proved enough to keep you fully aware of just how much thought he had put into your future together.
Finally feeling the change in his length that signaled him fucking you was just about over, Steve Rogers at last erased any doubts you had about his intentions as he laid both of you back on your sides while slipping a set of keys and a piece of paper into your hands.  Looking down at what appeared to be an address that wasn't your home, you thought now that perhaps the doctors had been right about his trauma and resulting need for therapy, but his hands coming to circle your waist and rest against your tummy told you that despite your fears, you had agreed to most of this.  Kissing you tenderly then as he drifted off to sleep, these same arms held firm which was exactly how morning's rays found you once again.
Opening your eyes to now find Steve wide awake, he kissed your hair and released you before sitting up in bed and telling you to get dressed.  Moving gingerly as every part of your body ached, Steve continued to remind you of the life he had planned and whom you could turn to for assistance in his absence as he carefully began to remove any remaining bits of hospital equipment from his body.
Righting the room then back to its usual state before opening the blinds and unlocking the door, you had just about composed yourself when Sam appeared and was surprised to find Steve up and about and apparently all ready to head back out into the world.  Informing his friend that he just needed a few minutes to say goodbye to you, pulling you gently into his arms as his forehead rested tenderly against yours, it was with a heart weighed down by the task ahead that Steve held your gaze and uttered the words you would carry with you until your paths would converge once more.
"Knowing you'll be here waiting guarantees I'm coming back to you.  Now please, be my good girl and head to that address to protect the package I'm hoping we've created.  I’ll be back as soon as Sam and I track down my friend," he finished before kissing you softly, turning to Sam and walking out the door leaving you to wonder just how good he was at keeping his word and whether or not your random act of kindness had landed you with more trouble than you possibly knew how to handle.

@maegor_the_cool on tiktok word-for-word stole your post about queen alysanne and is passing it off as their own in the comments on their most recent video. when i asked them about it, they claimed they didn't know it was yours and they got it from a forum, which doesn't really make it okay that they pretended it was their own words, and now they're claiming you gave them permission but i highly doubt it. just thought i'd let you know.
Oh, lovely! No, this person has never contacted me, I just looked through my entire inbox to make sure. I went and checked out the video and yep they literally took it verbatim. For reference y'all, here is the original post, which you can see I made on 2/28/2023. The TikTok creator got it from this post, which you can see was made on 3/7/2023, over a week after I made my original post. The forum poster is also passing off my content as their own in the comments on that thread. And here are screenshots from the TikTok posted 14 hours ago, since they turned sharing off:

...So I guess this is time to remind everyone that if you repost my stuff without my knowledge and without crediting me, you are doing so without my permission and I do not support it. I've said yes to 100% of the people who've asked me permission, so I don't understand why this seems to be a recurring issue. Also, a 1-minute Google search for this post would have turned up my blog, so it's not like this person couldn't find me because it was too hard. They just didn't check their source before using it. It's a shame, because I checked out the comments and we both 100% agree on the subject matter.
Here's a handy little guide to how to responsibly and respectfully repost my content:
Send me an ask with information about where to find the repost (usually platform + username will do). I'll say yes, but just please ask me so I know it's out there.
Credit me VISIBLY in the post. Please don't hide it somewhere, make it front and center the way an artist does with their watermark. In fact, putting my Tumblr URL in as a watermark is a super easy way to do this!
If you come across my content but you don't know it's me, but you for sure know it's not YOURS, maybe don't pretend it's yours? And maybe spend 1-2 minutes copying and pasting it into Google, which will lead you right to my blog.
If the content has been posted in multiple places, it's still really easy to find the original. Check the dates the posts were made and use the earliest post when crediting. For example, in this instance, the forum post was made a week after mine, which proves mine to be the original. Again, it only takes 1-2 minutes to check this using Google.
I really would prefer for them to delete the video and reupload it with proper credit, especially since it's been up for only 14 hours. There's a link here that explains how you can do this while saving the video so you don't have to re-format everything. I'd also prefer for the forum poster to acknowledge that they stole my content. But this is the Internet, so while I can ask for people to be honest and respectful about my content I unfortunately can't enforce it. :(
Edit: The TikTok creator reached out to me and they've re-uploaded the video with credit, which I appreciate! And they did get consent from the forum poster, just unfortunately that poster had stolen it from me. It's still not great that they didn't check their source, and that they didn't even credit the forum user at first. It's a good practice to copy and paste something into Google to check that you do indeed have the original source before reposting.
The forum user has now added a line to credit me at the top of his post. I'm still pissed at him for trying to get away with passing my words off as his own though. At least the TikTok creator asked the forum user first, but the forum user just stole my words without even asking me. What a man moment, to steal the credit for a woman's ideas 😒

Out of Time - Prologue.
Tumblr media
Out of Time Masterlist / Next Part: One Year
⚠️ TW: Mentions of Cancer ⚠️
word count: 1.7k words
••••••••••••••
Prologue
evelyn’s pov.
I walked around the store in search of my favorite comfort candy. I smiled as I saw the different assortments of chocolate in front of me. Picking up some Kit Kats and Lindor White Chocolate, I felt a rush of serotonin come over me. I was in need of a pick me up and these chocolates would do just the trick.
I had gotten back from the doctor's office about an hour ago. Sitting in my car, I let the new found information my doctor told me sink in while tears rolled down my face. I had hoped that all the chemotherapy and medicines they were providing me with would change my results and change them for good. I was wrong.
My journey with stage three breast cancer began three years ago. I noticed a strange discoloration on my breast. I asked my mum about it and she told me that I needed to see a gynecologist. At first I thought she was being overly dramatic like she always was, but once I googled my symptoms—like any other 22 year old would do—I began to understand her concern.
Later that week, I had my first gynecologist visit. My gynecologist was very sweet. I expressed to her that I was a bit nervous since I'd never been to a gynecologist before. She told me it was normal to be nervous and that she would try her best not to make it awkward for either of us. She placed her gloves on and began to work.
At the end of the appointment, she told me she felt some lumps in my breast. The lumps in my breast plus the discoloration led her to believe that I may have breast cancer.
I felt my heart drop to my stomach. I didn't hear anything she said after that. All I remember was hearing her say to come back on another day for screening to confirm whether I had cancer.
After two years had gone by of chemotherapy, shaving my head, losing weight, and surgery, the doctors had finally given me the best news I had ever heard since the Jonas Brothers getting back together. I was finally free of cancer, but only for a year.
Now it's back and has metastasized into the early stages of stage four breast cancer. The doctor told me there was still a chance for me to be saved; however, it was a small percentage, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.
As I placed the chocolates in my basket, I noticed a man staring at me. When we made eye contact, he quickly averted his eyes, pretending to be looking for some treats himself. I brushed off the weird feeling he gave me and decided to walk to the check out.
I patiently waited as the person in front of me took their sweet time to get their items checked out.
I placed my items on the conveyor belt and waited for the cashier to scan them. I smiled lightly and whispered 'hello' as the cashier began to scan my items. She gave me a small smile in return.
"Your total is $7.85." I nodded before handing her a ten dollar bill.
"Thank you." she said softly. As she turned to the register to look for my change, another eerie feeling came over me. Looking past the cashier, I saw the same man from the candy aisle staring me down.
As soon as our eyes met once again, he looked away, busying himself with a random pamphlet near the exit. I had half a mind to walk up to him and ask him if he needed something, but I decided against it knowing that I would be too weak to defend myself if anything were to happen.
"$2.15 is your change, and enjoy the rest of your day!" I thanked her for my change and placed it in my wallet. I grabbed my items and glanced at the exit. The man was no longer standing there.
I quickly rushed out the door. The once blue sky had already began to turn dark. I silently scolded myself for parking so far away from the store entrance. The eerie feeling came over me once again and I felt my heart rate pick up. I walked in the direction I thought I had parked my car, but began to panic once I couldn't see my car.
Suddenly, an arm wrapped around my shoulders. I released a small gasp as my head turned in the intruder's direction. To my relief, it wasn't the strange man from the convenient store.
"Hey baby." he said loudly. I winced at how loud and close he was.
"I'm sorry. You must have me confused for somebody else." I said back, getting ready to remove myself from his embrace, but he was quick to react and tighten his grip around me.
He leaned down to my ear and whispered, "There's a strange man following you. Just go with it 'till you find your car, okay?"
His emerald eyes held sincerity that made me think he genuinely cared about me getting to my car safely. I nodded and offered him a small smile.
"Do you know where you parked, love?" he asked as we stopped walking. I paused and looked around the lot, no sign of my car in sight. I shook my head.
"Here. Push the panic button so we can find it." He gently grabbed the keys from my hand and pressed PANIC. We followed the sound of my car alarm, two rows over and a bit further down.
From my peripheral vision, I saw the man look behind us before he removed his arm from my shoulders.
"Thank you." I say as I unlock my car. I truly owe my life to him. Had this man not come up and pretend to be someone I know, I would've been a goner.
"Don't mention it." he says, a small grin plastered onto his face.
"I mean it. I owe you big time. I haven't the slightest clue who that man is and he had been following me around the store and now to my car...Really, thank you."
He shakes his head sheepishly.
"I'm Harry, by the way." he says, effectively changing the subject.
"Nice to meet you, Harry. I'm Evelyn." I reply, sticking my hand out. Harry's eyes go back and forth from my hand to my face.
He lets out a small chuckle before placing his hand in mine and shaking it.
I am the first to let go of the embrace, feeling my cheeks getting hot. Having his hand in mine released butterflies in my stomach.
Now that the chaos was put behind us, I was finally able to get a good look at Harry. He is a very attractive man.
He has beautiful, chestnut curls that are pushed back out of his face; a single curl had fallen in his face.
Vibrant green eyes that are absolutely breathtaking and pink heart-shaped lips. He was also very tall and had a British accent.
Everything about him was stunning including his casual attire, while I looked a righteous mess with my beanie to hide my head from the cold along with light makeup that was probably washed off from tears.
We stood there for a second taking in each other's features. As I was getting ready to leave the semi-awkward silence, Harry breaks it.
"So how do you intend to repay me?" he asks.
I ponder not really knowing how to respond. There was a suggestive look in his eye and that's what snapped me back to reality and realize he was just like any other man in the world. Only one thought in their mind: sex.
"If you're implying that I should have sex with you, that's not going to happen." I huffed, moving towards my car door. I open the door and got inside, placing my chocolates in my passenger seat.
"What? No, no. You've got it all wrong." Harry takes slow, cautious steps towards me.
"Then what is it that you want?" I query.
"I want you to let me take you out for dinner some time." he says with a soft smile.
"Oh..." is all I can manage to say.
"It doesn't have to be anything romantic, unless you want it to be. It can just be a dinner to commemorate the possible start of a beautiful friendship." Harry tucks his hands into his jean pockets as he awaits my answer.
I feel so stupid and embarrassed now. I struggle to hold eye contact with him.
"Okay, sure." I say sheepishly.
"Okay, great. Let's exchange numbers and we can figure out a time that works best for the both of us." he says. His soft smile from before has spread into a wide grin.
I nod my head while handing him my phone, avoiding his gaze. I patiently wait as Harry puts his number into my phone before he hands me his so I can do the same.
"Wonderful. I'll give you a call sometime." I nod again, still refusing to make eye contact with him.
Suddenly, I feel his thumb and forefinger gently move my chin up so I am forced to meet his intense gaze.
"Don't worry about it. I know where you were coming from. Most men typically do only have one thing on their mind," he pauses, his gaze shifting to my lips before he continues, "but I'm hoping over time you'll learn I'm not like most men."
And with that he lets go of my chin and walks away with a smirk on his face while I am rendered speechless. My cheeks were on fire like never before.
"Wow." I mutter, closing my car door and starting the engine. I put the car temperature on cold to cool me down.
As I get ready to take off, my phone chimes. I peer over to see one new text message from Harry.
Harry Styles (IOU): I hope to see you again soon, Evelyn. Stay safe.

Oh. Look. It's once again been a hot minute since I've written anything!... Okay, that's a lie.
I write, then I let it sit... Usually decide it's too bleedin' cringey, and I delete the Tumblr post. But not today!
Today, I'm just going off about my special interests. Today, the brain is on ships, and the sheer sizes of them. As some ass-coverage: All images are snagged from Google. They are not accuracy checked. They belong to their respective owners, not me. Do not take my words as fact, my research has been shallow, casual, and for fun.
My housemate and I got a bit curious, as we're both big Titanic enthusiasts and plane enthusiasts- How big IS the Boeing 777x compared to the Titanic?
It was just one of those questions that popped up out of nowhere. Being an impoverished person my whole life, I've pretty much only traveled a few states outside of my landlocked rocky mountain home. The closest I've been to the ocean is Galveston, Texas. Save for a maybe 2 hour beach visit when I visited a former partner in Florida. That said, I've never seen a full size ship.
Boats? Ferries? Sure! My grandfather used to go fishing on Lake Conroe in Texas on the prettiest bass boat I know. (I may be a bit biased, hah.) But while I've never seen a full size ship in person, I've flown about... four times? So I've seen a plane up close. I think the first one I flew on was an A320, but for the love o' gigantic buffets, don't quote me on that. (Oh. Did I mention I'm waiting on dinner while writing this? A buffet sounds delightful. It has ZERO to do with this post. But maybe it'll remind someone who hasn't eaten to eat?... GO EAT.)
.... So, planes are pretty big. That much, I can tell you. But I was plenty surprised to see they're not even half of the Olympic class. Insert my first snagged photo from a shallow Google search!
Tumblr media
On my housemate and I's curiosity search, we settled on this one. There's dome size differences between a 777x and an A380, but it was one of those instances of "Close enough."
Now, to preface this question, yes, I understand buoyancy, aero/hydrodynamic shapes. I'm no engineer, and I'm REALLY not about to go into the deep science and numbers here. Not today. I have looked up how ships float, how planes fly... All while being super heavy, bulky. And loaded with people/cargo. But despite knowing this stuff, it still feckin' BAFFLES me how a big tub of steel floats. Or something weighing multiple fucktons can fly like it weighs nothing.
Even with a general understanding of the design and engineering, the science, even... It still just makes me stop and think about that. Humans are impressive.
Oh. And if you think the Olympic class looks huge compared to an A380, the Olympic trio are only about 1/3 the size of the Costa Concordia (Brief rundown: Cruise ship that hit rocks and sunk partially in 2012. I know there's some drama surrounding this creator right now, but if you're of the easily distracted mind and need some humor to keep things interesting like myself, Internet Historian on YouTube has a decent documentary on her that was quite entertaining. )
Tumblr media
No, seriously, I just snagged this off Google, it's not mine. Don't come at me. I just find it fascinating. We build these huge, heavy things and yet they float or fly like it's nothing. Just... What are the chances? That's so cool!
Tumblr media
Have a lil 747 happily wagging it's tail as my thanks for bearing with my bumbling ♡

Snapshot: Chapter 12
(A/N: google search how do you write action scenes)
“What-” “I said we need to run!”
Mack pulled Sammie off the ground, slinging her hand over his shoulder. “Come on!”, he shouted. “Where are we even going?!”, Sammie exclaimed, still confused. “I don’t know, but we need to get away from here,” Mack replied, dragging Sammie along with him. The stomping was getting louder and faster, and Sammie was only slowing the two of them down. Mack ran as fast as he could, throwing caution to the wind. Everything looked the exact same, like they were going in a wide circle. Mack had one of three options: He could keep running, he could try to confront the creature, or he could try to hide. He took a deep breath, and looked at Sammie. “Listen,” he said, “I’m gonna hide you in that cluster of bushes, and when I do, don’t come out ‘til I say it’s all clear. Got it?” Sammie stared at him, before replying, “Are you nuts?! You’ll get both of us killed!” “It’s the only way. Just trust me on this one,” Mack retorted. Sammie sighed. “Ugh. Whatever you say,” she muttered. “Alright,” Mack said, “Ready when you are.” Sammie nodded. “Ready,” she reluctantly said.
That was all that Mack needed to hear.
He swerved to the left, stopping right at the cluster of bushes. “Hide here,” Mack said, jogging in place. “I’ll try to take this thing down.” “Got it,” Sammie replied, squatting behind the bushes. “Stay safe out there.” Mack nodded, and turned around. He had nothing on him but a pocket knife, but he was agile. He needed every advantage he could get. He unsheathed his blade, ready to attack.
Then, the creature showed its face.
It was large, about twice the size of Mack, and two bug-like eyes stood on top of its head. The creature let out a mighty roar, and charged at Mack. He jumped back, easily dodging the beast’s attack. Now, it was time for an attack of his own. He lunged at the creature, pocket knife in hand. “Take this, ya jerk!”, Mack shouted, grabbing onto the creature's back.  He swiped at the beast with his knife, stabbing at it with all his strength. Suddenly, the creature shook itself violently, flinging Mack off without warning. He flew through the air, hitting the ground with a thud. Sammie gasped. She had to do something, or else Mack would get killed. “Sorry for this, Mack,” she mumbled, “But I’m trying to save your skin.” She leaped out of the bushes, flailing her arms wildly. “Oi! Monster! Over here, ya brainless freak!”, she yelled, trying to grab the creature’s attention.  The beast snarled at Mack, ready to finish him off. Sammie had moments to grab that thing’s attention, or else Mack would be devoured. Then, she spotted a rock next to her. Without hesitation, she threw it at the beast with all her might. “I said, leave him alone!”, she screamed, ready to take the blow for her friend. The creature turned around, growling at Sammie. She stood up tall, chest puffed out, in an effort to intimidate the creature. Then, the beast lunged at Sammie.  She braced for impact, knowing that this may be the last thing she ever did…
Then, the beast stopped and fell to the ground, dead.
Behind it was Mack, his spacesuit stained with the blood of the creature. He sheathed his pocket knife, not uttering a word. Sammie was trembling, still in shock of what she just did. It wasn’t like her to put her life on the line for someone she barely knew, but Mack was…different for some reason. She had only known him for about an hour, but they had already formed a strong bond.  “So,” Sammie said, finally snapping out of her trance, “We gonna talk about what just happened?” Mack nodded his head in disagreement. “Alright. Let’s keep moving. My leg is feeling a little better, so I can walk on my own now. If that's any consolation…” Mack nodded in agreement , still distraught from what he just did. Sammie started walking off, slow enough that Mack could catch up, but fast enough that she could make a decent pace. Mack slowly walked behind her, nervous and afraid. “Uh…” Mack mumbled, “Thanks for distracting that creature. If it wasn’t for you, I’d probably be dead right now.” “No problem,” Sammie replied. “So,” Mack hesitantly said, “I, uh- kinda owe you one now, don’t I?” “Don’t worry about it,” Sammie insisted. “Call us even for when we first crashed.”
Later that evening, the two of them had found a clearing and decided to set up a makeshift base camp there. The two of them were chatting, trying to get each other's minds off the fight earlier that day. “...You should've seen the look on her face,” Mack told Sammie, “She looked like she had seen a ghost!” Sammie chuckled. "Must've been terrifying," she said before letting out a huge yawn. "Well, I'm heading off to sleep. We'll start back up tomorrow." "Night," Mack said. "Talk to ya tomorrow." "Good night," Sammie replied, before zipping herself into her sleeping bag. Mack sighed.
This was going to be a long mission.

where do you find your clothes???? i aspire to have a style similar to you but i’m sooo bad at fashion and have no idea where to find pieces lol
most of my wardrobe is vintage !! I’m lucky to live in a city with a bunch of good vintage stores and I try to go in them for a little nosy whenever I can because a lot of them will get new stock nearly every day,, if you can’t visit the stores often then follow them on social media (if they have it) because they’re likely posting what new stock they get in, so if you see something you want you know to make a trip to the store that day (some places will also save stuff if you dm them asking but they probably won’t save it for long, like just a few hours or until the next day) also if you’re ever visiting a different city have a quick google to see if they’ve got any good vintage stores too !!
I also find a lot of it online on depop/ebay/vinted and sometimes I’ll also get stuff from sites like asos (usually for accessories or more ‘basics’), I think you just need to figure out the right wording for what you’re looking for like,, if you’re wanting a white shirt for example you could just search that but it’ll come up with a million different things and most of it won’t be what you’re wanting, so try using keywords to describe it more (like the sleeve length and style or the collar style etc) if you get me ??
I think it’s worth mentioning too that I’ve had a lot of my clothes for a long time like,, I didn’t just do a big shopping trip and managed to find all these items in a singular vintage store one day y’know? like,, sometimes I won’t find anything I like in any store for months and other times I’ll find a couple of things or whatever,, like just take your time looking for what you want and don’t expect to find something good every time I guess,, idk if any of this was very helpful I’m sorry !! I hope you manage to find some good stuff though and don’t be so hard on yourself !!! I’m sure you’re better with fashion stuff than you think and like.. idk we’ve all gotta start somewhere y’know? I didn’t magically wake up one day with knowledge of how to style clothes in a way I enjoy and like that also can look good lol just experiment and have fun with it, try new things you might not usually go for, diy stuff and just take it easy !!! sending big hugs to you <33

Finding a reliable autobody shop close to home can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. But don't worry, we’ve got your back. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about finding top-notch autobody repair services in your area, ensuring your car gets back on the road looking as good as new.
Why You Need Local Autobody Repairs
Why should you opt for local autobody repair shops? Here are a few compelling reasons:
Convenience: Local shops are easier to access, making drop-offs and pick-ups hassle-free.
Community Trust: Local businesses often rely on word-of-mouth, so they’re more likely to provide excellent service.
Faster Service: Proximity usually means quicker turnaround times.
Types of Autobody Repairs
1. Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)
Ever noticed a small dent that hasn’t chipped the paint? That’s where Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) shines. It's a cost-effective method that involves:
Specialized Tools: Technicians use tools to massage the dent from the inside out.
Quick Turnaround: Most PDR jobs can be completed in a few hours.
2. Scratch and Paint Repair
Scratches are like paper cuts—small but annoying. Depending on their depth, the repair can range from:
Buffing and Polishing: For surface-level scratches.
Repainting: For deeper scratches that penetrate the paint layers.
3. Collision Repair
Accidents happen. When they do, collision repairs involve:
Frame Straightening: Ensuring the car’s frame is restored to its original condition.
Panel Replacement: Damaged panels are replaced to restore the vehicle's appearance.
Paint Matching: Seamlessly blending new paint with the existing color.
4. Glass Repair and Replacement
Cracked windshields or chipped windows? These can compromise your safety. Solutions include:

Online Reviews and Recommendations
First things first, check out online reviews. Websites like Yelp, Google Reviews, and Angie’s List can provide a wealth of information. Here’s how:
Read the Reviews: Look for patterns in customer feedback.
Ask Around: Personal recommendations can be invaluable.
Certifications and Credentials
A good autobody shop should have the necessary certifications. Look for:
I-CAR Certification: Indicates up-to-date training in collision repair.
ASE Certification: Shows the technicians have passed rigorous testing.
Get Multiple Estimates
Don’t settle for the first quote you get. Instead:
Compare Prices: Getting estimates from multiple shops can help you find the best deal.
Assess Transparency: A reliable shop will provide a detailed breakdown of costs.
Warranty and Guarantee
A reputable autobody shop will offer a warranty on their repairs. This guarantees:
Quality Assurance: They stand by their work.
Peace of Mind: You know you're covered if something goes wrong.
DIY Autobody Repairs: When and When Not to Do It
Considering a DIY approach? While it's tempting to save a few bucks, not all repairs should be tackled at home. Here’s a quick rundown:
Safe DIY Repairs
Minor Scratch Removal: Kits are available for buffing out small scratches.
Simple Dent Removal: Using a plunger or specialized PDR kits.
Leave It to the Pros
Structural Damage: This requires precision and expertise.
Extensive Painting: Achieving a flawless finish is an art form.
Advanced Collision Repair: Involves complex processes best handled with professional equipment.
How Technology is Changing Autobody Repairs
The autobody repair industry is constantly evolving. Here are some cutting-edge trends:
Advanced Materials
Newer cars are made with materials like aluminum and carbon fiber, necessitating specialized repair techniques.

Best local SEO is the secret weapon used by SEO companies, as we do, that helps your business stand out in the vast digital universe. It’s like a spotlight shining directly on your store, guiding potential customers straight to your doorstep. By optimising your online presence for Google local search optimization, you’re telling search engines, “Hey, I’m here, and I’m ready to serve my community!”
WHY LOCAL SEO MATTERS?
Gone are the days when you wandered through the streets, hoping to stumble upon the best SEO firms. Today, consumers turn to their trusty search engines to find local gems as you search for the best SEO company near me. In fact, a whopping 46% of all Google searches are local! If you’re not showing up in those search results, you might as well be invisible without marketing and SEO.
CLAIMING YOUR GOOGLE MY BUSINESS LISTING
The first step to improve local SEO journey of yours is to claim your Google My Business (GMB) listing. This is like planting a flag on the digital map, proclaiming, “I am here, and I am awesome!” Your GMB listing includes crucial information like your business name, address, phone number, website, and hours of operation. It’s the virtual equivalent of a neon sign pointing directly to your store, which can be done only through local SEO optimization.
OPTIMISING YOUR GMB LISTING
Now that you’ve claimed your listing, it’s time to make it shine by using digital marketing SEO. Add some dazzling photos of your products, your team, and your location. Encourage your satisfied customers to leave glowing reviews, as these act like digital high-fives, boosting your credibility. And don’t forget to sprinkle in some relevant keywords, so search engines know exactly what you offer. This is what SEO and SEM services do to your business.
BUILDING LOCAL CITATIONS
Local citations are like online name tags for your business like what we have as an advertising agency. They include your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) on various online directories and websites. Consistency is key here—make sure your NAP is identical across all platforms, or you might confuse search engines (and we don’t want that!). The greater the number of local citations your business accumulates, the higher the level of trust it garners from search engines for lead generation. But doing this takes a bit of patience, and you should have time to do it. That is where we play a vital role as a digital marketing company.
CREATING LOCAL CONTENT
Imagine you’re a local bakery famous for your mouth watering cupcakes. Why not create a blog post about “The Best Cupcake Flavors in [Your City]”? Local content helps you connect with your community through creative content marketing and shows search engines that you’re an authority in your area with a great marketing strategy plan. Share your local expertise, participate in community events, and become the go-to source for all things related to your niche through this automated marketing.
ENCOURAGING CUSTOMER REVIEWS
Reviews are the digital equivalent of word-of-mouth marketing. When a happy customer sings your praises online, it’s like a standing ovation for your business in search engine marketing. Encourage your customers to leave reviews on your GMB listing, Yelp, and other relevant platforms that work as search engine optimizers. Respond to reviews, both positive and negative, to show that you value your customers’ feedback and are committed to providing excellent service. Conclusion
LOCAL SEO OPTIMIZATION
is the key to unlocking your business’s online potential. By claiming your GMB listing, optimizing your online presence, building local citations, creating local content, and encouraging customer reviews, you’ll be well on your way to dominating your local market. So, put on your SEO cape, for proper guidance from an ad agency contact us, and get ready to boost your online presence to superhero levels

Why restaurant website is necessary for business?
WordPress Restaurant website Service on Fiverr, follow these step by Step:
In the era of smartphones and quick online searches, a well-designed restaurant website isn't a luxury; it's the digital foundation of your business.
Think of your website as your restaurant's virtual ambassador, working tirelessly to attract and convert potential customers into loyal diners. Here's why it plays such a critical role:
1. Unmatched Online Visibility
The days of relying on word-of-mouth and walk-ins are long gone. Today's diners are online explorers seeking delicious experiences before they even step out the door. A website makes your restaurant discoverable:
Search Engine Dominance: A well-optimized website will rank prominently in Google searches for things like "Thai food near me" or "best brunch [your city]". This puts you in front of hungry customers at the exact moment they're searching.
Around-the-Clock Marketing: Your website represents your business even when your doors are closed. New customers can stumble upon your culinary offerings at any time of the day or night.

2. Taking Charge of Your Restaurant's Story
Third-party platforms like food delivery apps or review sites are helpful, but they don't fully capture the essence of your restaurant. A website grants complete control over your brand presentation:
The Vibe Sets You Apart: Customize the design of your website to reflect the ambiance, the energy, and the unique personality of your establishment.
High-Quality Visuals: Replace blurry, user-submitted photos on listing sites with professional-grade images of your delectable dishes and inviting interiors.
Telling Your Story: Share your chef's inspiration, highlight your commitment to fresh ingredients, or showcase your restaurant's involvement in the community.

3. Winning Customer Trust and Igniting Appetite
A website is your chance to build relationships before a potential customer even makes a reservation:
The Menu is King: Showcase a clear, up-to-date menu with detailed descriptions. This saves your staff time on the phone, and means customers already know if what you offer matches their tastes.
Transparency = Confidence: List prices, hours of operation, reservation policies, and contact information clearly to instill confidence.
Social Proof: Display glowing customer testimonials and reviews, acting as powerful influencers to entice new patrons.

4. Your 24/7 Marketing and Sales Tool
A website works tirelessly to promote your restaurant and drive revenue:
Special Announcements: Highlight new menu items, happy hour deals, or upcoming events with dedicated landing pages.
Email Capture: Encourage newsletter sign-ups for special offers and updates, allowing you to build direct communication with interested customers.
Social Media Powerhouse: Connect your website with Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms to create a cohesive online presence.

5. Convenience is King
Modern diners value their time. A website makes interacting with your restaurant a breeze:
Online Ordering Revolution: Capture takeout and delivery orders directly through your website, increasing sales and streamlining operations.
Hassle-Free Reservations: Give diners the ability to book a table directly online, reducing administrative work for your staff and improving customer experience.
"Contact Us" Made Easy: A simple contact form means questions, catering inquiries, and feedback can be handled without clogging your phone line.
Beyond the Basics
The right website doesn't just exist; it thrives. Keep these things in mind:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Strategic use of keywords and proper website structure ensure your restaurant appears near the top of search results.
Mobile-First Design: Most customers will browse on their smartphones, so a mobile-responsive website is non-negotiable.
