@curscism asked: 15. / 16. / 18. / 19. for any oc of your choice, tell me moar abt them <3
15: Share a random headcanon about your muse!
Itou is a really great driver, on road and off road! He has a bunch of cow figurines in his house along with a cow apron.
Yokomitsu and Kawabata are best friends and roommates.
Kawabata can not cook and Yokomitsu has to turn off the appliances to keep him from doing so- they mostly get takeout
Jay loves to scare people for fun and is really clingy- he loves to hug people and hold hands-
Emily loves to sew and knit, mostly for dolls or small animals.
Kitamura takes great care of himself and has a skincare routine-
Mikhail can eat only small amounts of chocolates, otherwise he gets a little sick.
16: Is your muse religious?
A few of them are actually! The most religious oc is John Milton, even his ability is religious. Tsuji Jun is a Nihilist. Emily Dickinson was raised in a religious household but isn't too religious herself. Shinkichi isn't extremely religious but does believe in buddhism.
18: Give us one thing from your muse’s wishlist that you really want to write in a thread!
I'd love to write Mikhail in a serious thread, normally he's pretty silly because he's a dog and is sort of dim witted.
Kawabata and Dazai as the real life authors didn't seem to be too fond of each other-
Yohei meeting Chuuya would be fun since he's Yuan's little bro-
Any of my Port Mafia ocs dealing with muses from the Ada, or vice versa- both would be fun!
Oh and more hunting dogs pls!!
19: List some of your muse’s favourites! (eg. food, movie, book, song, drink, place, celeb, etc.)
Going with food!
Mimei enjoys seafood! Her favorites are hot pots made with seafood or oden.
Niimi really loves agedashi tofu with mushrooms the most!
Inoue is rather fond of coffee cakes.
Orikuchi enjoys dangos a great deal but he no longer has a sense of taste.

may in aotearoa is aotearoa music month (yay!) and so my music teacher (who is from the us east coast) was essentially like 'okay guys whose your favourite nz musician' and it was kind of astounding how many people in the class said they didnt have one?? or that they didn't really know any??? like what?? like idk even if pop / rock isn't really you're genre there's a lot of music that gets made here, A Lot of music, and maybe it's just lucky that old dunedin sound stuff is very much my taste but like.... the beths??? are very popular?? we have normal pop artists too, like benee, and marlon williams, aldous harding? LORDE??? she was like insanely popular ten years ago and her music is still pretty good idk.... and this guy i'm kind of friends with kinda hates nz music with no real reason (he's a classical pianist and listens to a lot of soundtrack music for star wars films etc) like idk maybe his whole experience is having to sing stan walker songs in primary school or six60 and his parents listening to crowded house or split enz or something (and thats understandable split enz is such a Dad Band and i think they're very mid but whatever! thats the point theres lots of options!)... but like solidly half the class said they didn't have one like noooooooooooooooooooo idk if this is average aotearoa self-deprecation extending to thinking our music is probably bad, lack of exposure, some sort of racism thinking all nz music is waiata and not wanting to listen to songs is te reo??? which???
anyways yeah our new england music teacher was like i love nz music and i'm not even from here and half the class i guess just listens to everything but. and like theres a lot of genres here! alien weaponry! is māori metal!!!! and i Know we have rappers and dnb. i Know there is so much good aotearoa music out there. so anyways hello mutuals you wanna listen to local music from wherever it is you're from soooooo badddddd

7, 8, 11, 18 pls!!
okay, definitely putting a readmore lol
7: Favourite live performance of a song
Okay, I'm definitely biased on this one, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the demo version of wonderful woman and I don't even want to know how often I've watched this video, but it's this 1983 performance of "What do You See in Her":
https://youtu.be/W9ktxjzC_4A !
The way Morrissey sings is SO incredibly emotional, and you notice how personal those lyrics are to him - this is what people mean when they say "he poured his heart and soul into it". Wonderful Woman is among the most underrated Smiths songs for me, but honestly, I'm still sad about the lyric change.
I also have to dedicate a honourable mention to this 1986 performance to The Queen is Dead: https://youtu.be/-o76TepMrJI. Though i was first completely put off by Morrissey's random gurgling and gagging, and disliked this performance when I first saw this video, it has now definitely grown on me. Though I wouldn't listen to this version when I just want to hear the song, it definitely fits the vibe of the song: it's not only meant to be an easy listen, but also convey a message, while ALSO being witty and ironic. Also, LOOK AT JOHNNY PLAYING THE GUITAR WITH A DRUMSTICK??? i LOVE this man so much.
8: Best cover of a Smiths song
I don't know if this is a basic answer, but I really like the Deftones cover of "Please, Please, Please, Let me Get What I Want". The band brings a completely different sound to the song and changes your eperience listening to both the original and the cover, and I think this is what a great cover is supposed to do. Also love the recordings with Sandie Shaw, but I'm not sure if they count as covers haha
11: Theory I'd like to share
This one is a bit far-fetched, but here goes:
So, I know that "This Night Has Opened my Eyes" is at least partially based on "A Taste of Honey", but I do think that it is also based on another play called "Faust" by german author Goethe. Actually, the only thing keeping me from 100% believing that theory to be true is that Morrissey has never admitted to being inspired by Goethe, like he has with other great authors. I'll summarise the play here, but fyi, in it, themes of pedophilia/grooming and a dead baby are discussed, so if you don't want to read about this, please skip this one! :)
To sum up the play "Faust" as short as possible, there's this guy ( around 50) who is really booksmart, but doesn't know anything about real life, so he basically makes a bet with the devil, who makes him younger (about half his age) and helps him get with a 14-year old girl called Gretchen, which is obviously very creepy, but at the time people thought it was normal. She comes from a poor household, her mother is sick, she basically had to raise her own sister when she was still a child, and her father isn't around - and now there's this older guy, who also seems to have some money, taking an interest in her. She falls for him, thinks he loves her too - which he doesn't, it's implied that he just wants her for her body (also she's 14 and he's 25! let's not forget this fact). He gets her pregnant and leaves her, and now she's on her own, with no way to support the child, and being outcast by the people in her village, so she sadly drowns the baby. She then goes to jail and dies there, but her soul is saved by god and she goes to heaven. Pretty crazy stuff, honestly.
You can probably already see where this is going: The first verse of the song discusses drowning a baby in a river, which is exactly what Gretchen did. The line that goes "a grown man of 25, he said he'd cure your ills, but he didn't and he never will" also makes a lot of sense through this lens, and by singing "save your life, cause you've only got one" Morrissey could be referencing her soul being saved.
18: How did you first get into the Smiths?
Honestly, completely coincidentally. Last winter, I was just opening up YouTube and looking through my recommended videos when I saw a video titled "There is a light that never goes out". I had heard the name of the band this song was by once or twice, but never really checked them out, but for some reason, I just clicked on the video, and that was it: I was completely enchanted. Naturally, I checked out some other songs and was even more impressed with this band. They became the first band whose full discography I had listened to in the correct order. I just got the urge to find out more and more about them, and they became more and more important to me over time- and now I'm here, with basically almost my whole tumblr account dedicated to this band!

My comments on Eurovision this year:
(Disclaimer: like what you like, this is just my personal taste)
The opening song is fire, modern and traditional (but what the heck did Kate do there, our commentator even shout outed her *rolling my eyes*)
Loved that they brought back Go_A
Sometimes, the Eurovision can feel like a fever dream with it's crazy costumes, wild dance choreographies and over the top special effects
I think it's cool that non-European/non-Australian people can vote, too
I liked the energy of Austria's song and the idea is just so much fun
Portugal is really delivering, it feels like vacation at the mediterranean sea
Switzerland's song is very good, the singer has a great voice but there is this tiny bit that is missing in my opinion
I was already thinking she's pretty and then the commentary said she's not even the only model of her family, but the song isn't my thing and personally I think the only dance part was too long. Poland had a TikTok dance vibe.
I definitely heard the video game in Serbia's song but when the commentator said the singer is into anime I hoped it would have a lot more of the anime intro
I like the costume of the France lady but it looks better when she's not standing on a glittery mountain. The song is very good, her voice is fabulous (but in the refrain there's a little too much of that beat for my taste). My mother and the commentary guy both said that they shouldn't have fixated her on that tower thing because she could barely move.
Again, why did the Royals have to be there? And Peppa Pig and Drag Queens are also weirdly enough in the same montage (???)
Cyprus' singer really hits the high notes. The song has such a powerful vibe. I like it, well done.
The Spanish singer has a nice voice and it like the clapping rhythm but why is there this synthesiser-like sound in between.
My mum said something I could not not share: she thinks the presenters' outfits remind her of paw patrol, especially the yellow one
Loreen is back. I liked her song with which she won back then (more than this one). My mum and I were surprised to see her again. The song was more than fine. But what's going on with her nails? They are so distracting.
Albania is great and the voices fit together very well
Btw the Italian guy walking in with a pride flag was iconic because this competition is so fruity fr. The song is very good and I can imagine a dramatic dance scene to this. Our commentator called his shirt "made out of christmas decorations". The guys in the background falling up and down the stairs made me laugh a bit tbh
Estonia's singer has a fantastic voice, and I adore the song. Her outfit is so cool.
The music of Finnland this year isn't anything I normally listen to, just totally not my genre. And the box thing made me laugh out loud.
The Czech women are so pretty but the song, oh dayum I really like it, also it's giving a tiny bit blackpink.
I'm not so much into the Australian song but that's just because of personal preferences. The e-guitar was the best part
Belgium's song isn't my thing, it sounds like one of the songs you hear in the background when you're shopping
There is a woman behind the presenter making butter. I'm not even kidding, this is really happening
Armenia is really delivering, I love it, there are a bit of siren vibes and then it changes to harpy warrior vibes
Moldova has this very cool flute in there, it's a very powerful song and in my opinion it's fun
Ukraine's song is good but it's not my genre. I love the message though
Norway is definitely one of my favourites. What a power anthem!
Metal isn't really my thing, but the lead singer has a great voice, and overall, I like it a lot. Not a big fan of the costumes though
Lithuania has a great singer with a fabulous voice, the song is a vibe
In my opinion, Israels song is okay at best, mostly because I cringe at the line "the power of a unicorn"
Slovenia's song is cool if you ask me, but not extremely memorable
Nope, Croatia isn't my thing this year but like at all. But it's cool that they wear skirts, never mind why did they get rid of their clothes?
Sorry UK, I love revenge songs by , I've heard better (not that this one is particularly bad, but something just doesn't click)
Overall, most songs were pretty solid this year, a better average than most years
I like that they have disabled people on stage and the song isn't bad either, the e-guitar is fabulous.
I didn't expect Germany to loose against literally everyone, I think this year the song was way more original than some of the songs which got a higher rating but were way more basic and mainstream
Congratulations to Sweden
Oh no, our commentator said it was his last time to do this, but he's done it for the last 25 years, his voice is Eurovision, now I'm sad
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

There was a wild-eyed excitement to her that Josie found a little unsettling. It just didn't make her feel especially calm being next to so much girl that was moving with so much frenetic energy. It had been a constant from her first message on grindr: "you're so hot, I'm begging you to ruin my life." And even as Josie felt the evening drawing to a close, Ash was persisting with her positive mood. Josie felt the sinking feeling that she thought Ash wasn't pretty enough to be allowed to be this unashamedly attracted to her, but acknowledging the internalized transmisogyny of the thought was beyond Josie's capacity at this point. So she tried to ignore her own feelings entirely. Ash was the ideal online trans lesbian, and just like all the tumblr posts had warned, she was a bit autistic and kinda fat, and Josie was unsure if she had it in her heart to dismiss such a girl. But as conversation pressed on, from undesired subject to undesired subject, Josie felt no love in her heart for the girl, only the desire to sleep, it was tragic. The golden retriever girlfriend for her annoyed cat self had shown up, and they were so incompatible that they weren't even gonna fuck and it was upsetting. Dearly upsetting.
"y'know like not like we're gonna hook up or anything, but I always tell this joke of like, I can't hook up with someone unless I know their favourite song and their least favourite parent, and now I kinda wanna find out what yours are." Ash said, it was a loud bright thought, Josie barely held on to half of it, the wine was overwhelming her senses.
"Sorry you wanna know my favourite song and my least favourite parent?" Josie asked.
"Yeah, yeah!" Ash answered.
Josie took a second to parse the question, it wasn't formulated in the way that normal people construct sentences, but it was also kinda cute. Actually the question was kinda charming.
"Okay favourite song, let me think." Josie could tell now that she was looking for the right answer not accourding to her taste but accourding to what would garner her the most appreciation from Ash. She searched through her mental library of songs, and then found what she wanted.
"Chaser by femtanyl."
"Isn't that an album?" Ash questioned.
Josie felt like she had made a social faux pas, she had failed the coolness test, she was the biggest idiot there ever was, literally mistakes georg. She was supposed to name a song and named an album, any cool person who likes trans girl music would know that.
"Eh doesn't matter, and it's a short album, so it's basically like listening to a long song. Yeah I really like that, I listen to it when I'm at uni all the time, it's really relaxing when you gotta deal with neurotypical cishets for a day." Ash said.
Josie felt elated, the cool kids liked her after all. A moment passed before Ash noticed Josie wasn't thinking of her answer to the other question, "So then who's you're least favourite parent?"
"Oh. Well obviously my dad."
"Oh, is he a shitty guy?"
Josie was struck by all her memories of her father in person, the solidity of his frame, the confidence with which he smiled and walked, the ways he used to tease her.
"When my sister was born he competed with her for my mother's attention. He's an asshole."
It felt odd saying it out loud. Josie would have dwelled on the feeling it filled her with for longer, but fortunately Ash had more questions.
"Oh so when did you parents get divorced."
"They were never married actually, I'm a bastard, literally."
There had been too much nicotine in the joint, or perhaps she was just reaching that level of tiredness where the distinction between waking and sleeping ceases to hold meaning. With a terrible suddenness Josie felt like the floor of her chest had fallen off, like her insides were scattered across the floor and that she needed to be held. She needed to be squeezed, gripped, she needed someone to rearrange her insides in such a way that she contained them again, and then she needed that someone to grab her tightly to guarantee no spillage. It was a feeling emptier than unresolved desire, it threatened to punch a hole clean through her.
She wordlessly threw herself into Ash's embrace, who valiantly did her part in holding her, and not taking advantage of her in this state. For Josie's recovery this was a godsend, she could demand to be held tighter, without having to worry about sexual miscommunication, or worry for her own safety or anything. For her self esteem it was less than ideal, she began to worry that Ash was disgusted by her, that this show of complete trust and vulnerability was burdening her unfairly, or even scaring her away.
Ash's body was a completely new kind of comforting. Her frame was big and solid in that way that fills you with comfort and certainty, but it was covered in soft skin. Everything about her was soft, even as Ash's arms strained around her and strained her lungs, the restriction felt soft. It was nice finally meeting the kind of girl who ate more than weed and drank more than monster. It was comforting that that kind of girl was even out there, that some girls managed to take care of themselves, that people were living womanhood and having a good time with it too.
With time Josie explained the actual cause of her sudden panic:
"My Dad used to say that to me all the time, he used to tease me with it 'you're a bastard, literally.' and it just felt so gendered from his side back then, and it just brought a lot back for me all at once."
Ash was sympathetic, and mused about the nature of trauma and recovery for the next half hour until Josie fell asleep on her shoulder. She stayed for another half hour to see if Josie would wake again, read some interesting tumblr posts about common anti-civ critiques, and eventually picked up her things and left.
She left Josie with the text: "Hey babe, you fell asleep on my shoulder and it was unclear if you had consented to me sleeping in your bed, and I didn't want to wake you so I just left. I had a really good time with you! I hope we can hang out again soon! :3"
Josie couldn't think of a response so she waited to think of one, and forgot about it for a week at which time she had already given up on Ash. The relationship saw the light of life for a day.

Episode Perona - Nightmare after NAGASHIDARU (holy shit, I love this one so much)
I have to start by informing you that Perona, in contrast with other heroines, does not get her looks poetically described. Which is, on the one hand, for the best, because those moments made me roll my eyes a little, but on the other hand, I am a little offended on her behalf. A girl is a bit strange and off-putting, and suddenly you can't rhapsodize anymore? Cowards
there's still one little bonus story left, but I feel like I can already say that this one is my favourite, so instead of a short summary y'all are getting a longer one
the story starts with the humandrils waking up Perona and Zoro at night to show them something. Turns out waves brought a barrel with the sailors' offering to the sea god (the nagashidaru in question) to the shores of Kuraigana. Zoro gets into the water, despite Perona worrying about his scars, and brings the barrel. Perona hopes there's cacao in it because she loves hot chocolate and hasn't had it in a long time, but it turns out the barrel contains three bottles of wine
they return to the castle and decide to give the wine to Mihawk, but then they remember he's a fucking snob, so they decide to taste it first. Well, Perona decides to taste it, because Zoro currently doesn't drink because of his training. Perona opens a bottle and it turns out that the wine is so freaking good that she decides to keep it and drink it on her own. Zoro, who doesn't seem enthusiastic about this, wanders away, and she thinks she offended him, but then he returns and it turns out he went to bring her some food so that she doesn't drink on empty stomach 😭
so Perona drinks, Zoro exercises with his swords nearby, and she keeps thinking how she strangely enjoys his company, how she has that feeling one gets when one has a cup of warm milk or when new shoes finally start to fit well 🥺 and she's like hey Zoro, I'm gonna sing you a scary song that will give you nightmares <3 And Zoro's like ok, go ahead. So she lies down on the floor and sings him a song, and her hollows, as drunk as their mistress, fly through the castle and even stumble into Mihawk's room and he's like hmm. Ghost girl seems to be enjoying herself. Alright then.
("ghost girl" is "fantômette", how cute is that)
next morning, Perona wakes up and discovers that 1) either Zoro or Mihawk covered her with a blanket when she fell asleep, 2) she finished not one but two bottles yesterday, 3) the third bottle, which she meant to use to make sangria, has disappeared. So she goes to the garden and confronts Mihawk about this, and he tells her that well, there were three bottles, two for you and Zoro and one clearly for me. Also, it's mine because this is my house.
the weather is hot and Perona doesn't feel well, so Mihawk TAKES OFF HIS STRAW HAT AND PUTS IT ON PERONA'S HEAD. A STRAW HAT. I am perfectly normal and totally not Charlie Day conspiracy board meme about this
he tells her to get back to the castle, but she tells him that he's not her dad he can't tell her what to do, and goes to work in the field instead. While loosening the soil for planting trees later, Perona muses that such work isn't appropriate for the ghost princess, but she actually really enjoys gardening and eating produce she grew herself, and she's grateful to Mihawk for letting her discover that, as she is grateful to Zoro for changing her outlook on life. She tries to put a label on her relationship with them, but she can't say they're friends, and housemates/neighbours doesn't really cover it
Perona doesn't know what kind of trees they're gonna plant, which surprises the humandrils who are helping her
later, at dinner (Mihawk cooked them a roasted chicken with sautéed vegetables <3), she tries to persuade Mihawk to use that last bottle to make sangria but he refuses because he thinks that'll just be a waste of good wine. So she decides to STEAL IT. Zoro offers his help and Perona asks him why, since they aren't even crewmates, and Zoro's like ??? well, we aren't, but we don't need to be that to help each other
Zoro challenges Mihawk to a swordfight to distract him, while Perona crawls to the table where the bottle is, but then Mihawk, without interrupting the swordfight, THROWS KOGATANA AT HER and nails her dress to the floor. She retaliates by siccing a negative hollow on him, but Zoro accidentally gets in the way and is attacked instead. When he falls on his knees lamenting his worthlessness, he accidentally topples a floor-lamp with his scabbards, the lamp topples a bookshelf, books fall on the table, and the last bottle of wine falls down and smashes. Whoops.
they manage to salvage enough wine for two glasses, and Mihawk makes sangria for Perona and the three of them have a drink (Perona has sangria, Mihawk has wine, and Zoro has a glass of sparkling water :)). As they clink their glasses, Perona thinks once again that she doesn't know how to describe her relationship with these people, but she knows they're important to her <333
meanwhile outside, the humandrils are gossiping about the humans in their humandril language and are very surprised Perona doesn't know which kind of trees they're going to plant. Didn't Mihawk tell her he's cultivating cacao tree saplings so that she could have hot chocolate? Well, it appears he didn't. He's not a talkative man, after all.
this is. Well, I'm not sure if official novels are considered canon in relation to the manga, but this is definitely canon in my heart. This is exactly the kind of goth family content I've been craving. This is like a basket of (black, drunk) kittens. I adore it.

my nephew's confirmation was yesterday, and it was actually a pretty fun day. absolutely exhausting though - which is why I just woke up after sleeping for 14 hours.
some things that happened:
I was inside a restaurant for the first time in over two years and it was really weird and I didn't like it (and of course someone made a stupid comment when my husband and I were still wearing our masks when we sat down... like just fucking mind your own business maybe?)
the same guy who made that comment said this about a 15 year old girl: "she looked nice but her outfit was too sexy for a 15 year old" what the fuck dude you're in your 50s, the girl's (completely normal) clothes are not the problem, your fucked up thoughts are.
my mother said a lot of weird shit that wasn't true (about my childhood mostly. like she really proudly listed movies she'd seen with me in the cinema and none of it was true. also every time she did see a movie with me she'd just keep telling me how terrible it was. like she still talks about how much she hated watching Corpse Bride with me as if that's really fucking funny - that was at least 15 years ago, it was my favourite movie at the time and I was so excited to watch it with her, but she wouldn't shut up about how awful every single thing about it was. I haven't been able to watch it again since then.)
also - watching movies with your kids isn't some special accomplishment, it's just a normal thing that you do. and even if it was - I've seen at least 5 times as many movies with my nephew as she ever did with me, and I've never said any of them were fucking awful.
my niece was incredibly excited all day, she kept running around and dancing, it was very adorable - and my mother said that I never would have done that, as if it's funny that I was such a boring quiet child, when in reality I stopped doing anything like that at like 5 or 6 because she wouldn't stop making fun of me or yelling at me. lots of stories about my brother being exactly like my niece when he was little, and me just being quiet... like dude that's literally your fault but okay
every time my mother left the room everyone relaxed, and when she came back everyone seemed tense, and everything had to be about her at all times or she'd get angry and aggressive.
she also went on a long rant about how boring Toto is because she can't not tell me how terrible all the things that I love are - and in the end it turned out that she literally only knew Africa and none of their other songs.
[we had music on in the background and she kept saying 'oh I like that one, who's it from?' and they were all Toto songs. in the end she admitted she only knew that one song but still insisted her opinion was correct. and I know it doesn't matter at all but it still really fucking sucks that every time my brother chose a song she was all nice about it and told him how good it is and how she likes that band too, and with me it was all negative, but only when she knew I picked the song (it's hard to explain, but she only said bad things when she saw me pick a song. when they came up in a playlist she liked them, when I chose them she didn't. some of them were even the same songs, she just didn't notice.)]
[and like. my brother chose a Volbeat song. she fucking loved it. I loved them for years when I was a teenager, and she never had a single nice thing to say about them. but as soon as my brother started liking them a few years later, she thought they were great. what?? her taste in music hasn't changed in at least 30 years so it's definitely not that. or when I chose a song that she liked and she was like "??? how do you know that band?!" as if the idea that I could have even heard of a band she liked is just insane. I'm an adult and this really should not matter to me but it just. does.]
I think the exhausting part was just my mother, now that I'm thinking about it. everything else was fine - fun, even.
#I literally didn't realise that last bit until I wrote it all down#I thought people in general are just exhausting and they are. but it's completely different with her#I always have to pay attention to everything she says especially when there are kids around. I won't let her treat them the way she#treated me#like yesterday she started screaming after my niece did something really nice for her just because she didn't do it exactly the way she had#wanted it.#and I had to calm her down before my niece came back so she wouldn't hear how angry she was#a normal adult wouldn't get that angry because a 10 year old brought her an open bottle of coke instead of an unopened one.. right?#I'm just now realising how fucked up that is. it's so different seeing her do this stuff to my niece and nephew#when I was that age I just thought that was normal#I only realised it wasn't when I told my therapist a few stories about my childhood and she was shocked lol.#but it's still really different seeing it happen now because I had convinced myself I was probably exaggerating.#because no one else from my family ever seemed to think it was weird#but now my husband has seen her do that shit enough times to tell me it's not normal#and my nephew is old enough to see it too so we talk about it sometimes#it still feels weird being the only person who ever tells her to stop but I guess that'll never change#this was supposed to be a short post about how weird it was to be around so many people after such a long time 😬 fuck.#and I know that most of what she did and said would only seem like a fun little anecdote to most people. that's what usually happens at#least. but it's not fun or quirky when it's been happening for 30 years and when someone is ALWAYS like that. idk. I'm probably just#fucking overreacting because that's what she's been telling me for 30 years so she's probably right. I don't fucking know.#personal

The Untamed, episode 45 - watching notes
I'm at this stage of fandom rn where it's really hard to concentrate on anything else 😅
Every song I listen to gets dissected for how it relates to wangxian
I need to concentrate on my thesis but instead I'm pondering how the untamed raises questions about collectivism vs individualism and how my western perception of that might differ greatly from a native chinese person or even the author's intention
Can't I just write my thesis about THAT?
Alas, I digress ...
Back to our regular programming :D
Last time one Sophie watches the untamed wwx went all Sherlock on us and used his formidable skills of deduction to expose Backpfeifengesicht's plan of killing everyone and blaming it on wwx
I've heard from several people that the next few episodes are their favourites, so no high expectations at all :D
Nobody wipes the blood on their chins away. Might be about the aesthetic
I adore detective-duo-wangxian so much!! Especially because wwx does 99% of the talking but then lwj will chime in with a single word and it's 100% devastating :D
If anyone knows any well written case-fics for these two, please, I need recs! (For after the show)
Backpfeifengesicht makes good one point and that is that jgy already is at the top of the cultivation world. So what does he gain from all this?
Or is it simply that he's afraid of wwx because he's a rebel and might act against him? (Don't answer that. I wanna find out through the show ;))
Wwx just casually revealed that he's been to cloud recess and that he handles went to the restricted section forbidden chamber. What will you do about, Lan Qiren? Huh? 😂
Oooh! Backpfeifengesicht is the ghosted faced man! I thought it was Jiggy himself!!! 😱
That makes way more sense though!
Lan Sizhui! Jin Ling! Oh you brave boys! 😭
Someone hold me 😭
But why does he not take zidian now? He's done so before!
"You little fool!" Is "I love you" in Jiang-Cheng-speak :D
"We're done for! What can we do??" - wwx *strips*
Sorry
Bahahaha 😂😂😂
I just burst out laughing waaay to loudly for the fact that I've got people sleeping in the room next to mine
But look at Lan Qiren when he sees wwx strop to reveal anat is probably his nephew's undershirt 😂😂😂
He's probably questioning every decision that's let him to this point :D
This is completely inconsequential, but I couldn't keep quiet about it anymore because I every time he makes this motion, it always sends a shiver down my spine!!! Notice that wwx (or rather Xiao Zhan) is one of these people whose fingers bend in the opposite direction??? I know it's just a normal thing some people can do, but I can't watch it!! It makes my fingers hurt just looking at it 🙈🙈🙈
Is he turning himself into a demon lure flag?? 😱
Lan Jingyi 🥺🥺🥺
Also does wwx now just transfer his self-sacrificing tendencies to lwj?
Nothing is as hot as these two together in a fight scene
Jiang Cheng doesn't want to leave them behind. He does care! :') he just never unlearned how to unravel his love from his anger
Sizhui running up to greet his dads :')
Look at them! I'm soft guys 💔
He called him Yuan!! 😭😭😭
So this is it. Any doubts I ever had about Sizhui's identity are gone
Will he finally recognize him??
Why don't you say anything lwj? This one time, I beg you!!
Sect Leader Yao still at his gossip shit even 16 years later 🙄
Lam sizhyi is seasick! Why is this so cute! 😭
Oh Wen Ning!! He recognized A-Yuan? Right?
I want to hug Lan Sizhui for his openness and kindness towards everyone he meets, no matter their status or what other people say about them! (Wen Ning now or who he thought was Mo Xuanyu the supposed mad-man) and I wanna hug lan Wangji right after for raising him to be like this :')
Oh Wen Ning! 😭
That's how I'd look at Sizhui, too, if I met him - poor unadulterated wonder :')
And just think about what that means for Wen Ning! He's not the last of the Wens! All their fight wasn't for nothing. This child, their legacy, survived 😭😭😭
"Can I call you A-Yuan" "Of Course." God I'm gonna burst into tears 😭
I'm actually bursting into tears!!
Isn't this the dream of anyone who has ever lost someone? :')
"He's like a brother and father to me" :')
And he raised him from when he was 4 or 5? So ... A-Yuan was about 2 when the Wens died? Right? Then 5 would fit with lwj's 3 year isolation
Ob god, it's the butterfly-toy!!! 😭😭😭
Wen Nings smiling through his tears! I can't! 😭💔And he's got the one from the market!
Aww, wax isn't wearing the white undergarment anymore. Too bad
Oh poor Jin Ling ...
So much grieve that he could probably never process. There so many lost kids in this story, hurt by things they had no control over 😔
I mean, I get it. That's the person who killed his parents (without being in control, but he doesnt know that) and everyone is just talking to him as if it's normal and that didn't happen. But he can't forget, but he doesnt really understand either and he has no outlet. Of course he'd just ... crash 😥
And who would have thought I'd ever try at a flashback of Jin Zixuan's death :(
For once, it'd be nice if the adults actually acted like the parent figures they're supposed to be and explain things to their children 🤦♀️
I'm so thankful though, that no one even thinks of scolding him for crying. Jismg Cheng only asked who it was that made him cry (and looks like he'll kick their ass). Generally, thus show has a very healthy attitude towards tears. Most characters cry when they are faced with tragedy, regardless of gender. Men being allowed to have appropriate reactions to grieve (instead of a single men tear or just punching things) is really nice to see
Oh Yao dude whose courtesy name I can't remember, shut up!
Thanks Ouyang Zizhen! You get me
I live for these children standing up to their elders
Meanwhile Nie Huaisang is just on the sidelines, enjoying the show :D never change!
The Lotus Pier theme song alone is making me cry rn 😢
Why can't wen Ning come in?
Oh Sizhui!
He many times do you want to make me cry happy tears today?? :')
Little turnip-baby ❤
But why doesn't lwj say anything ??? 😭
Lan Wangji raised A-Yuan smong a bunch of rabbits??? 😭
Now he's a turnip baby with a taste for carrots, how cute is that? :')
Holy shit, wwx and lwj are really joined at the hip these days of lwj won't enter the hall if wwx isn't allowed to :D
Lwj 😑 "no misbehaviour"
Someone. Knows. Their. Husband.
Okay sorry, but as painful as these cuts must have been and yes, while you do see scars on this prostitute's face, they in no way warrant these horrified gasps as of they had all seen a monster 🙄
Xue yang. Fancy seeing you here in this not at all disturbing sub-plot 😬
Okay that's creepy. That's really creepy
Shouldn't Jin Guangyao have a bit more compassion for these women?
On the other hand, he was born to menacingly stand behind a curtain 🤷♀️
W. T. F. ????
Jin Guangshan??? o___O
That's the most skin we've ever seen on this show and it's in a scene like THIS? 😬
THIS IS HOW JIN GUANGSHAN DIED? 😱😱😱
How?
How can you die from sex?
And then jgy made them keep going?
UGH
These poor women :/
So there's someone who set her free on purpose, right?
Bicao has really interesting eyes!
Oh wait, took me some time to catch up. This is about Quin Su and why she killed herself, right?
WHAT??
They were siblings o_O
They just went full game of thrones on this ...
Hey Jin Guangshan, screw you for raping that woman
Wait, is that why jgy had him die like THAT?
I'm so confused about how that happened btw
But why would Jin Guangyao merry quin su anyway? Was this some kind of political marriage that he couldn't call off?
This episode answered some of my questions but raised about a dozen more 😅
@sweetlittlevampire @fandom-glazed @elenirlachlagos @allhailthedramallama @luckymoony @kyrrahbird @i-love-him-on-purpose
5 episodes to go. I'm both happy because I can't wait to brows the untamed tag without looking for spoilers and extremely sad 🥺
Right now I'm planning to watch one episode each day until friday and then watch the last two on Saturday, hopefully quite early, so I can spend the rest of the day crying my eyes out over it, without having to worry about such trivial things as being a functioning adult or a responsible student 😅

I know this isn't like your usual questions, but I was wondering what you thought of Sanders Sides fics with OCs in them? Particularly those who are shipped with a Side (or more if in a Poly-relationship) and is in the canon-setting as Thomas' Sides.
I'm attempting to write one; but I'm rather self-conscious about it. I have a friend who's beta read the few chapters I've written which helps me continue to write, but I don't at all have the courage to even think about posting it online for so many others to see.
So I thought getting someone else's opinion would help? If that's okay with you I mean...
(see? all confidence is gone even talking about it I'm half forcing myself to send this...)
- smol 🐍
Don’t worry, you can ask me anything! About songs, fictions, words, what to wear tomorrow, everything. I’m not an expert in everything you may ask me, but I can still give advices XD
Regarding your question, there are two factors that come into play: personal tastes and writing skills.
About my personal tastes, I can tell you that I don’t like stories with OCs. In my 15 years of reading fanfictions, I’ve learned that if there’s a story with an OC, there’s a very high chance this OC is:
a colossal Mary Sue
the author in icognito
a super-duper character that is always right, never fails and that will show amazing powers and will be the chose one who will save the world and so on.
In other words: someone you will never identify with and that you will end up hating.
But it’s also true that the fictions I liked the most have OCs inside. Sometimes even more than one! One of my favourites had an OC that was the brother of the protagonist, not exactly a secondary character.
So why did I like these stories, despite having OCs? Because of the writing skills. Because the authors loved their story and it was clear they worked really hard to write them. The stories were good, with a clear, coherent outline. The events made sense, the rhythm was nice, the characters were IC. And the OCs weren’t perfect angels with one trillion powers, but just normal characters, with strengths and weaknesses.
So, long story short: it all depends on you. If you like this story and you’re enjoying it, then keep writing it. Every good story needs the author’s love, even the best written one: otherwise it would be just a beautiful, empty shell.
But you can’t forget the writing skills. Plan your story, organize the events, decide what should happen and in what order, keep your characters coherent. A good planning will make the writing process easier, because you will spend less time thinking about what should happen next and more about enjoying it.
Also, one final advice from someone who has always been afraid to show others their works: don’t be afraid. Receiving feedback from others is the most beautiful and the most important thing a writer needs - no matter if you’re an amateur or an expert.
I remember the feedback my friend gave me, when I showed her my first short story: there was a description that worked for me, because in my mind I had a clear image. But it wasn’t as clear for her. And her feedback teached me something huge: that I needed to be more clear, because other people aren’t in my head and they won’t see things like I see them.
And yes, one feedback is good, but the more feedback you get, the more you’re able to learn and improve. My friend’s feedback was important, but only when I posted my first fanfiction and other people commented it, I learned a lot. Because people are all different, they come from different places and have different cultures/experiences.
And yes, maybe someone won’t like your story, but that’s okay too. That’s even better, because they will explain what they don’t like and every word will be useful for you to do better in the future.
So don’t be afraid to post your story. If you love it, work on it. If you enjoy writing it, write it. Ask for your beta’s advice and feedback. And then, when it’s time, post it. The world is huge and people are different, so I’m sure you will find someone who will appreciate it and/or give you some good advice.
In any case, it’s a win for you ;)
#ask#beauty talks about stuff#writing advices#that's a very dear theme to me#in case it wasn't clear enough#lol#sorry for the long answer#it's just that I love talking about this#hope it helps!

Dates With Ravenclaws
or The Way We Were
Song - Cardigan by Taylor Swift
"...at length" count - 13
Good evening. Interrupting myself before I even start. I was watching Midsomer Murders earlier on-excellent programme, highly recommend-and I realised my fan cast for Lathe. It is... drum roll please... Gwilym Lee. I've also decided Lathe is Welsh. So is James Potter but that's unrelated.
But anyway, there he is. Now back to the irregularly scheduled programming. (That may not even feature Lathe).
Oh Alice.
"Mfgamcpeemelphameep!"
- I wholeheartedly agree.
Hogsmeade trip (first of the year) klaxon!
"Look fabulous and having fun?" echoed Alice, panicking. "No, no way. Too much pressure. I can't."
"Well, just looking fabulous, then," said Lily. "Or at least clean."
Oh my god, a wee flashback to young Alice and Frank!
Alice Geraldine Griffiths was not just a normal, thirteen-year-old witch. The golden brown ringlets framing her pretty, cheery face did not belong to an average girl. Her round eyes did not simply take in the world around her, and when she spoke, mere words were not all that she articulated. Alice Geraldine Griffiths was an angel.
That, at least, was Frank Longbottom's take on it.
- He was completely enamoured by her🥺
Yes, it isn't not every day a fifth year asks out someone two whole years younger because it's a wee bit dodgy, to be honest, Hestia.
Everyone knowing that Adam and Marlene are destined to be together except Adam and Marlene and them being teased about it is very entertaining to read. But it is also very annoying because they are so stubborn.
"...and I feel that restricting myself to just one witch would be too great a deprivation for all the world's women."
- Understandable, Sirius.
But about the teasing, they are also supportive about it. Like, Sirius, Remus, and Peter sitting with Marlene in the Three Broomsticks and telling her that she deserves better than The Rat that is Miles Stimpson.
Sirius proudly took a drink, trying to prevent his other two mates to do so as well, which caused Peter to protest, Remus to roll his eyes, and Marlene to laugh. Adam McKinnon glanced over from his table, but she didn't notice.
- Two things: 1. Sirius cheering Marlene up makes me so happy and 2. ADAM LOOKING OVER AT MARLENE'S LAUGH! The pining!!!
Please, Marlene was so happy in the flashback of her first date with Miles... On another note, the exaggeration of the boys' reaction to Mary is so funny, straight out of a comedy movie or something, it's great.
Oh, this is where Adam and Marlene realise their mutual love of music and BOND!
"Unlucky Thirteen?"
"Yes-that's my favourite song."
Marlene beamed. "You have good taste in music."
"So do you," agreed Adam, bowing his head.
- They are so sweet.
"He seems cool."
"Yes," Mary agreed. "Of course," she went on teasingly, "he's no Miles Stimpson."
"No," said Marlene, idly looking at a box of Sugar Quill." In the elevnth hour, I'm the unlucky thirteenth..." chanted the throaty vocals of a singer on the WWN. Marlene felt herself smiling. "No, he's no Miles Stimpson."
Adam McKinnon was something entirely different.
That last line though!!
There wasn't anything wrong with Daniela Prentiss. She was pretty, in a common sort of way. She was clever, in the archetypal fifth year Ravenclaw sort of way. She was funny, in a predictably quirky sort of way. She was nice, in a habitual, conventional sort of way.
- The description of Daniela Prentiss is, there is only one word, brutal.
"I'm on a date..."
"Congratulations."
"I'm about to commit suicide."
- He is so blunt and dramatic and for what
("Handbags are the tools of misogynists and stupid girls!" she had informed him earlier). "I don't believe in chivalry," Daniela went on. "In fact, I find that manners of all kind are obsolete."
- I don't have anything to say on the manner's being obsolete thing because I am going to be honest, I don't understand. But the handbag thing, loosely related, I really do believe in the theory that they make the pockets on women's clothes smaller to force the idea of handbags.
"If manners are obsolete, then how could you be insulted when i attempted to pay? I mean, if there's no social standard for offensiveness, how could you have any standard by which you judge soething to be insulting or otherwise?"
- This, I do understand and yes, I agree.
Lily saving James from his date is pretty brilliant.
"Sorry, Snaps, it's official: helping me out of a sticky situation, lying to another girl, faking an accident... you're practically Sirius Black!"
- :)
They are Potential Friends. Reminds me of Commentarius a wee bit there, "friend-with-potential" and the like.
"Well... thank you," James said. "I owe you one, don't I? C'mon, I'll buy you a butterbeer..."
"Sorry," said Lily, shaking her head, "I should get back to Luke, actually. I just left for a few minutes to check in on Alice at the post office, so-y'know, he'll be waiting."
"Oh, right. In that case..."
"Thank-you, though."
"Yeah, of course. And... thank you, too."
"You're welcome."
- What an awkward interaction, and just after they had wee moment too. James's character is just really interesting to read honestly. And it isn't like Luke's character has done anything wrong yet for me to not like him, him waiting for Lily to get back to start his drink is really nice, but you have to dislike him on principle.
"It was impossible for her to fall in love, she knew, because too large a portion of her heart was devoted elsewhere."
- call me stupid, but I have no idea what this means. This goes back to what was mentioned in the first chapter too, where I am so confused over who it is referring to?
"I'm confused," said Remus, drunk enough to be confused, but sober enough not to slur the announcement of it..."
- I really like that. Also, how very Remus of him.
(Three Years, Four Days Later)
- I want to dislike Frank so much more than I do. Having those two scenes, Alice seeing him with Carlotta and then the flashback of them saying they loved each other for the first time was really well done. We haven't really read a lot about Frank and Alice at this point but yet it still makes you feel for Alice so much. It's so lovely seeing all the girls support Alice, though.
The structure of this chapter was really cool. The little flashbacks for each person made it so interesting to read and it was done so well. Especially since each flashback actually taught you important things about the characters, it was like nothing was filler.
The authors note also made me chuckle because really, where was Donna at lmao
I am re-reading The Life and Times
And it is getting documented. Purely for my own benefit.
The Life and Times by Jewels5
She was dramatic. He was dynamic. She was precise. He was impulsive. He was James, and she was Lily, and one day they shared a kiss, but before that they shared many arguments, for he was cocky, and she was sweet, and matters of the heart require time.
