This won't be a popular opinion, but it will be a truthful one from 3 generations of ranchers and farmers: We, the United States Farmers and Ranchers, could not sustain the type of crop and cattle yield to feed 340 Americans. Would could not feed the estimated extra 46.2 million people that are here on vacation, here illegally, here as students and or part of the work force. The United States could not sustain itself in perfect times, it would be disastrous if there were crop failures, livestock failures, uncooperative weather patterns, fuel shortages, worker shortages, strikes, any number of events that would stop things going from the ranches and farms to your table. I want you to think about that. If the Unites States only relied on itself for just food and one part of that system stops it would cause famine like we have not seen since the 1930's. At that point every Rancher and Farmer would be taking care of their own, eating the livestock and crops they grew, not you. Furthermore, Even if the United States could somehow convert all land not currently used into lands for crops and livestock, where does the water come from? Where is that infrastructure to get large amounts of water into the central deserts of Nevada or turning the Alkali rich soils on Utah and Arizona into fertile crop lands? Are we clear cutting the forests of Washington, Oregon and California to make new farm lands? This is not realistic by any stretch of the imagination. I wish it were but we are just to many mouths and not enough ways to feed them domestically. We are not the only Nation with this issue. I have been all over the world and as much as we all hate to admit it we all rely on the world to feed each other. Below are some images and sources to help solidify why this is almost an impossibility. I am more isolationist than most, and I can see this can't work.

I have not even added crop and livestock rotation on lands to allow them to recover. Or the fact that some crops and livestock CANNOT just grow or live where ever we would like them too. The only way I could ever see this as a real possibility was if we went into a "Wartime" mode where all recourses were poured into this effort. Even then, as I already said, one snag in the process and it all falls apart. I don't care if it's low livestock birthrates one season, lowered than expected crop yields for consumption AND for seed for the following season. Not enough rain, Winters to long, Fall comes to early, blights, bugs, a million variables. Let's not forget that when the entire Nations is dependent on the Mom and Pop farmers and ranchers to live, mom and pop become slaves to the system so the Eloi can eat.

Hi there! Long time reader, first time asked 👀
I saw your requests were open, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a Nanami drabble? Literally ANYTHING, your writing is so good, I trust you 100000%
💖 Even if you don't, thanks for considering anyway 🙏🏻
content: established relationship with nanami, female reader [implied to be shorter than nanami], fluff and crack  thank you for the request anon! hope you like it <3 i wasn't sure if you wanted an nsfw one or not, so i just decided to keep it a lil' silly. — general masterlist ☆
Tumblr media
nanami paused mid-action, the knot of his tie still undone, as he watched you drag a footstool across the floor with great determination. his brow arched ever so slightly, curiosity piqued.
you weren’t exactly the tallest person, and that stool seemed to be your weapon of choice for the grand gesture you were planning.
"what exactly are you doing?" he asked, his tone flat, but the faintest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"don’t worry about it," you replied, climbing onto the stool with the kind of focus one might reserve for scaling mount everest. you wobbled slightly, and nanami instinctively placed a hand on your waist to steady you.
"hand me your tie."
his brows rose higher. "my tie?"
"yes, your tie. give it here."
"you do realize i can tie it myself, right?"
"where’s the romance in that, kento?" you countered, managing to look smug despite balancing precariously on your makeshift podium. "besides, i watched at least fifteen youtube tutorials last night. i’ve got this."
nanami sighed, equal parts amused and intrigued, and handed you the tie. he wasn’t in any particular rush to leave — not with this level of entertainment unfolding in front of him.
you grabbed the tie with all the confidence of a seasoned expert, draping it over his neck and starting to work the knot. "okay, step one: cross over... or was it under?"
nanami’s chest shook with a quiet laugh. "you don’t sound very sure."
"shhhhhh," you replied, glaring up at him. "let me concentrate."
you fiddled with the fabric for a moment longer, but as the knot began to resemble a crumpled ball rather than a tie, your expression shifted from confident to mildly panicked. "wait. no, no, no — this isn’t right."
"are you sure you watched fifteen tutorials?" he teased, tilting his head slightly as he watched you unravel your work.
"don’t mock me, kento. i’m in charge here."
"of course you are," he replied, but the amusement in his tone was unmistakable.
you tried again.
and again.
and again.
by the fourth attempt, your frustration was palpable. "why is this so hard? i swear i practiced on a scarf last night, and it worked perfectly!"
"maybe the scarf was more cooperative," nanami offered, lips twitching as he fought back a grin. "or perhaps it had better supervision."
"you’re not helping," you huffed, tugging the tie free and starting over yet again.
"i’m sorry, darling," he said, though his voice was anything but apologetic. "please, continue. i’m thoroughly enjoying this."
on your fifth — and final — attempt, you managed to produce something that vaguely resembled a proper knot. you stepped back triumphantly, admiring your handiwork, and looked up at nanami with a beaming smile.
"there! perfect!"
he glanced down at the tie, then back at you, his expression soft and indulgent. "it’s a little crooked," he said gently, reaching up to adjust it.
you smacked his hand away. "noooooo, it’s not. it’s charming. and you’re leaving it like that because i worked hard on it."
he chuckled then, the sound deep and warm. "as you wish," he said, smoothing down the tie but leaving your imperfect knot intact.
as he grabbed his briefcase and prepared to leave — five minutes late, but not that he’d ever complain — you trailed after him. "so, how do you feel, mr. nanami? pampered? loved? dashing in your wife-tied tie?"
"all of the above," he replied, leaning down to press a kiss to your forehead. "though next time, perhaps we’ll start a bit earlier."
"next time, i’ll have it perfected," you promised, hands on your hips.
he smiled as he stepped out the door, his heart feeling just a bit lighter. five minutes late was nothing compared to the joy of watching his wife stand on a footstool, determined to make him feel cared for in the cutest way possible.

Why I Think Chloe is a Skilled CQC Fighter:
So, I wanted to cover in slightly more detail why I tend to think that Chloe is a genuinely skilled fighter and why I feel it is supported by at least the first three seasons of canon materials in MLB.
1: As Anti Bug, Chloe was able to combat, match and then quickly overcome Adrien in closed quarters combat. One could claim this was him holding back due to friendship but that'd be even more of a HC and he looks pretty comfy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One could claim it was just because he needed to be in peril for the story but the fact is that still means he lost the fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2: In Maledikator Chloe demonstrated strong martial art based kick forms, which by itself is fairly minor but these things add up.
Tumblr media
3: During Heroes Day, Chloe does demonstrably better than the other two reserve heroes and is even able to cover for them wen they are unable to fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also l lasts even after they begin turning and needed to be ambushed to be removed from the fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4: During Miracular, Chloe has a one on one fight with Mayura in which she does very well and given Mayura is one of the top fighters in the setting I feel that says a lot.
Tumblr media
5: This is also where she expressly demonstrated Street Savate style martial arts moves which no other character does. This indicates its a Chloe thing not a Miraculous user thing.
Tumblr media
6: This last bit is more of a HC than the above, but it does feel worth keeping in mind both Adrien & Felix were expected to learn a martial art. So it seems like this may well have been normalized among them and so would not be particularly unusual.
Conclusion: Ultimately, Chloe shows herself to be very good fighter.
What's more, she does so with enough frequency and in unique enough circumstances and ways that it does not feel like animators just being careless or having fun. Otherwise we'd see more of this from others. The fact that Chloe stands out here is notable and as whether one takes her as knowing a specific martial art or not is besides the point that Chloe is evidently very tasty in a fight.

I interpreted the "adaptation from the manga" thing to imply that they'll animate the 3 Yuus (like you said) but my partner proposed smth to me that raised my concerns... what if they only animate Yuuka? or like- default to a female Yuu? I could see that bc it would be probably easier for them to have only one protagonist.
don't get me wrong I like Yuuka and I know a lot of TWST fans are women but since the studio involved is apparently known for shojos I'm scared they'll make it seem like the story is romantic/the game is an otome... Which I mean- we do have SOME fanservice stuff but it's definitely not a romance story. That's why I'm scared 😭 if they do go that path... I much rather prefer the disconnection (?) of having 3 different Yuus than the possibility of this...
Also I'm just 🥲 I'm scared ppl will see that and say ahhh So Yuu has always been a woman!! Because as a trans guy, one thing that rlly made me feel valid in a way was seeing that in the game Yuu has no gender at all... I don't go by they/them but I'd much rather be referred as that than to be misgendered. It's a small thing but it's such an important detail for me (the fact that Yuu is gender neutral/can be whatever u want them to be) that it being erased in the anime would make me pretty sad... even more if ppl take the anime as "confirmation" of Yuu's gender, which it wouldn't be regardless if they end up giving us a girl OR guy Yuu- it would just be another Yuu interpretation different from the game.
But yeah, personal stuff aside, I'm more scared by the possibility of them making it seem like it's a romance story 😭 or ppl calling TWST an otome... which I mean... some people already have that misconception, even some fans...
[Referencing this post and this news!]
Tumblr media
I definitely think they're probably leaning towards a new Yuu every season; otherwise, there would be a very uneven distribution of screen time for one Yuu over the others, and that leads into the problem of one Yuu being "more" canon than the rest. Yes, it will probably be easier logistically speaking to keep the same Yuu for the entire anime--but I also said the same thing when we only had the Episode of Heartslabyul manga, and look what happened with that. We ended up getting Yuuka and Yuuta following Yuuken, regardless of the logistical inconvenience of it all. I think if the anime intended to have a singular Yuu to follow for the main story, they would have chosen to adapt the light novel (which has Yuuya across multiple volumes) instead of the manga. The conscious decision to adapt the manga (with changing Yuus) says something to me. So really, I don't think we have to worry about one "kind" of Yuu dominating the anime. I took a look at the portfolios of the two studios collaborating for the Twst anime and didn't see a ton of shoujo myself. There was definitely a handful of them, but overall there was a spread of genres. I think Yumeta Company (one of the studios) has Tokyo Mew Mew New under its belt, which is probably one of its better-known works and maybe that's where the "they're known for doing shoujo" allegations are coming from? Don't quote me on that, though. I'm not someone who closely follows anime studios.
I would, however, like to point out that we shouldn't put all our stock into the studios behind the anime. Yes, they are obviously animating the project and thus have an influence on how the final product is. However, there are tons of other people involved (like the script writer) that will dictate how the anime looks and feels. (In fact, the script writer for the Twst anime, Kato Yoichi, is not known for writing shoujo.) I highly doubt all the staff involved at every possible level of production are conspiring to make Twst a genre it's not. (Related: I blame socialization for this, but it's a little sad that most of us by default think one woman + a bunch of men in a cast must be romantic.)
Now, to your main point. I understand the initial fear of people misunderstanding Twst as a dating sim/otome from how it is presented. Really, I do. I also understand the frustration that comes with people claiming Yuu's identity or gender or what have you is "confirmed". But to that, I ask you: so what? And I don't mean that in a "your feelings aren't valid" way (because your feelings are very valid!) I mean in like... Do these misconceptions others have truly impact your own enjoyment? Do the people believing in these falsehoods erase what you know is the truth? I would wager it doesn't. There has been and always will be those who see Twst or interpret Yuu as something they are not. Lots of us (myself included) thought Twst was an otome game when they first heard of its concept. People claimed Yuuken was the definitive Yuu when the first chapter of the manga dropped. That's fandom, especially the larger they get. If we fixate on those sore spots, it will ultimately make us unhappy because there will never be an end to misunderstandings. I would advise that you try and detach from those worries and just focus on having your own fun in the fandom rather than worrying about how others are consuming or reacting to Twst. Yes, we want Twst, a franchise we've seriously been invested in and love, to be seen a certain way--but I don't think that should come at the cost of your enjoyment. Fandom is meant to be fun, and we don't want to make ourselves miserable by stressing over the "what ifs", you know? Please focus on yourself!!

gempearl has been so insane in the past two sessions like what the heck. the divorce arc is not even that angsty anymore this is like watching a romcom where the two leads so OBVIOUSLY still want each other but they are just so ?? dumb ??????
gem has way more confidence in pearl's skills to kill and survive than pearl herself ?? pearl calling gem beautiful and awesome ??? "you've got ants on your pants" "yeah, they are called pearl" ???? THEM BOTH COMING BACK WITH A CAMEL ?????
and there's way more crazy things. they are insane for each other. they are never leaving the sunflower field nor the murder camel. they need to kiss each other so bad
p.d; imagine etho and impulse looking at each other awkwardly while gem and pearl are arguing (fighting to not jump from their camels) thinking "why are we even here". this camel shit is too serious i love it
godddd theyre insufferable i want them both dead <3
they never left that sunflower field. it’s always been about the 2v1. its about how in Gem’s eyes Pearl betrayed her in such a dishonourable way but in Pearl’s eyes it’s just the logical choice. they’re actively clinging to the very thing that symbolised their connection in the past season, now with the knowledge of how it will end if they were to try again, Gem now knowing that Pearl won’t choose her— why? why can’t she just give her this one small mercy? if she’s going to kill her anyway why can’t she at least make it honourable? why can’t you do it yourself, Pearl?
but of course. in Pearl’s eyes she can’t just do that. why risk her life here? they’re just in the middle of the season, there’s no need to have an all-out duel, she’s on her yellow life and all that…
and so that just leads to. whatever this mess is!!! yeah no im just spitballing sorry anon i agree this whole arc is so dumb and funny because on one hand you’ve got an actual conflict but on the other you get “you’ve got ants in your pants” “yeah they’re called Pearl”
oh yeah on Pearl’s end it has been made so very obvious that Pearl got Impulse/Tango on the camel just because Gem doesn’t want to. and she’s trying to make her jealous or whatever. poor minecraft men being subjected to yuri divorce

I know we’re all struggling with this endless hiatus and the lack of new content, so I thought it would be fun to resurrect the #chenfordchats that were circling around the fandom earlier this year. We previously did a question on favorite Tim Bradford quotes, so this time let’s do Lucy! What are your favorite 3-5 (or more if you want) Lucy Chen quotes from the entire series 😊
This does feel endless doesn't it? Not sure why this hiatus has felt longer than when we had the writers strike. That didn't have an end date for a long time. We have one for this one and it's felt worse. Probably because of all the BTS being withheld for now. We're all starving for content of any kind they'll give us. They've been restricted from sharing much of anything. So we're going little stir crazy. 47 days to go LOL We can do it.
This was not easy because these asks never are but always fun. Appreciate the challenge of them. Here we go. These aren't in any particular order BTW. Except by season cause I can't help but organize it. So maybe they are in a specific order ha But not one of ranking by any means. Also I'm not so good at staying within the numbers lmao I suck at it really. So I just did ones I love and I'm probably forgetting some I love but hopefully not.
If I am missing any feel free to do this as well or let me know your favs in the comments. Also these come with commentary cause I am me after all ahaha Was hard to find quotes I love that aren't just Chenford related but Lucy too if that makes sense. That's real hard cause they're so intertwined lol Anyways this is my crack at it please enjoy and don't hesitate to comment should you like to. Also feel free to participate as well more fun when people join in :)

1x01-What's not to love about her opening line as a character? So confident and ready to go. Look at her. Love everything about this line. Confidence rolling off her as she says. Hasn't been squashed yet by her future soulmate....
Tumblr media
1x03-I LOVE this line for how it lands with Tim. But mainly we get to see the early sparks of confident Lucy putting Tim in his place. Standing up for herself. Because if she doesn't her career is going up in flames along with Tim's epic flameout. Telling him like it is and I love her for it.
Tumblr media
1x07-Another amazing line that lands so well. This is an iconic scene but this line right here. This IMO is what keeps Tim from crossing that line. It's so spot on. She went out on a major limb and it pays off. Just love this line in particular.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2x01-Are we sensing a theme? LOL It was accidental. But I do love Lucy putting my boy in his place when warranted. Standing up for herself in the process. Straight up owns his ass in this argument with dem fighting words. Love her for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2x08-Always love watching her fierce loyalty come out despite rank. heh I love this line. Because once again calling someone out on their crap. Why we love our girl so much isn't it? So many reasons but this is definitely one of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2x10-Our poor girl so very frustrated with dating especially as a cop. This is an epic line that I don't think gets enough love. Cracks me up so much.
Tumblr media
2x11-Love me some BAMF Lucy. It's one of my favs. The fierceness she shows not only saying this line. But making sure she makes eye contact with Caleb when she delivers it. I love her so much. We all know how true this statement ended up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3x05-This seems like two quotes in one cause it kinda is. Already breaking the rules as is so here we are haha Fiercely protective Lucy reporting for duty with this quote. Loved it so much. She gonna beat your ass Stanton.
Tumblr media
3x07-This line will never cease to crack me up. She owns his ass this entire episode really. It's one giant mic drop for her. This one is one of my all time favs of that ep and in general. I dare you to watch that scene let alone that ep and not be laughing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4x16-Her reply to Tim's reaction makes me cackle. Her comedic timing is perfection. She is fed up with her hubby at this point and it makes me laugh so much. Goes from playful to over it immediately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4x22-Lucy's reaction to Juicy is an all time fav. She was having fun messing with Tim over Dim till then. Her replies are so funny I love this quote for how much it makes me laugh every time. She is disturbed and not having fun anymore. LOL
Tumblr media
5x12-Such an iconic way to drive her point home with this epic line. No more needed to be explained after this line. I adore this quote and the way she delivers it to Tim.
Tumblr media
Lucy Chen is me when i'm prepping for anything with my anxiety. This cracked me up so very hard. Also couldn't find a gif of this glorious line. So just edited down a gif I did ha but I adore this line for how much I related with it LOL She is me when I am prepping.
That's all folks. Hope you enjoyed my rambles. Feel free to comment or do your own that would be fun to see others do it as well. Best part of fandom doing stuff like this. Seeing what everyone loves.

With the help of your analysis, I started wondering if CSM and the syndicate chose Scully to be a "mole" in hopes of one day turning her into one of them as they did with Krycek.
Perhaps, because of their knowledge of Mulder's penchant for porn, they thought that she could be a distraction and a wrench in his plans. Once they could turn or initiate her, afterall she was young and relatively inexperience and possibly easily influenced (at least in their eyes), she could help manipulate Mulder ala Diana. They didn't expect Scully to be as strong-willed and connect to Mulder as she did.
I wonder what the plan was with Mulder and Scully had Gillian not gotten pregnant. I think I read that one of the writers or directors wanted to create some angst between them by having them turn against one another at some point. I could be wrong.
Another issue that my brain was trying to reconcile is who is the "boss"? Is Mulder technically Scully's "boss" or manager and is that why he seems to order her around. OR, is Scully technically the boss since she begins by monitoring him and reporting back about his doings to CSM/Belvins? I know they are supposed to be "partners" and on equal ground, but are they. Honestly, no matter what, Scully is in control because she has Mulder wrapped around her tiny little fingers.
Okay, let's answer this in chunks! >:DDD
Neither Mulder nor Scully is the boss. They both report to Skinner, and he holds them equally accountable for mistakes made on the files. If Mulder had been "the department head" in anything other than name/title only, then he would have had a lot more one-sided punishment from Skinner for the basement's escapades: hierarchy and rank bring require more responsibility. Which is what Mulder wanted to avoid (amongst other things-- like spies. Speaking of which:)
I think the Syndicate had a different goal than CSM for assigning Scully.
Blevins thought they could reign Mulder in; and his groupies constantly raged at CSM's or Deep Throat's interference whenever Mulder was "saved" or bailed out from various scrapes. They wanted Scully to debunk his work: Blevins admitted as much in Pilot. If they wanted to sexually distract Mulder from the files, they wouldn't have thought to recruit-- or let CSM recruit-- Diana Fowley out.
CSM kept trying to thwart or kill Mulder in Season 1-3; but canon rewrote that motivation in Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man to become one of deep curiosity and interest. In Season 4, we learned he sent Scully down because she would complement Mulder's work and hopefully lead that doe-y eyed younger man closer to the Truth-- specifically, to what CSM believed was the Truth: his beliefs and goals, his Syndicate. In Season 6, he lamented that Jeffrey was a lame buzzkill and not comparable at all to "Bill Mulder's son." It's not until Amor Fati-- David Duchovny's episode, really-- that we were given a more cogent reason for CSM's actions: he is more than willing to sacrifice Mulder for his own selfish gain. "Every man just wants to live a normal life" (loosely quoted) was what CSM believes, for himself and for Mulder; and we saw him constantly get mixed up with women left and right-- Tena Mulder, Cassandra Spender, Diana Fowley, nearly Scully-- trying to find a snippet of that normal life (the opposite of Mulder and Tena Mulder and Bill Mulder's strategy.) It's also in Amor Fati that CSM influences Mulder to wonder if Carl is his father-- an idea canon left mostly on the back burner the entire show. Here, we realize he wanted to draw Mulder to "the Truth" not for Mulder's benefit but for his own: either to join his side, or to leech off his brain (metaphorically and literally) like a parasite.
Mulder's pornography/phone sex is very different than an actualized sexual relationship with a woman; and the Syndicate, I believe, factored in that difference. As previously mentioned, the Consortium would have been aware that Mulder recruited his own girlfriend onto the files when he discovered them. Yet, they chose to-- or allowed CSM to, which I think is the case-- pull Diana away with an elevated position in Europe. Blevins and the group explicitly sent Scully in to debunk and humiliate Mulder's work. They could have chosen anyone else, including a planted spy; but they didn't feel the need because they thought it would be a one-and-done case-- that Scully would wrap her partner up tight and deliver him for slaughter. Further, I think they selected Scully because she was an excellent agent who, they assumed, wouldn't respect Mulder or his theories... and she inadvertently reinforced that impression by calling him "Spooky Mulder" in Blevins's office (after that exchange is when she was told about the job.)
Those are my thoughts, anyway.

I would love to know more about mom?? Like the early days of her and Rafe’s relationship and also just her personality
We know she is a good mom but what else 😊😊😊
aweee yes i love this!!
i think her and Rafe were on and off high school sweethearts at Kook Academy. i think Rafe struggled in high school like he did in season 1 and as much as Reader wanted to be with Rafe, she wasn't letting his temper and anger get in the way of her schooling and her high school life. eventually, i think they went to UNC Chapel Hill together and bonded while they were there and decided to be together long term because they keep coming back together anyways.
i think she's very stubborn and definitely gives Rafe a run for his money. she whipped that boy into shape.
season 1 Rafe and season 2 Rafe reallllyyyy strained their relationship and she was just about over him. but he confessed to her that he really wanted to get clean and she helped him. then season 3 Rafe is the one who proposes to her.
even though she grew up Kook, she really doesn't understand the divide with the pogues and kooks and she teaches her daughters to be the same way, which is why Charlotte ends up secretly dating JJ's (he's alive) son. i think she's very giving and grew up spoiled, but it doesn't show much, other than her being a little high maintenance.

Article Title: プリキュアの“恋愛描写”は20年間でどう変わった? 「彼氏」すら表現できなかったプリキュアがわんぷりで「カップル誕生」を描けるまでに至った理由
What has changed in 20 years of Precure's depictions of romance? Reasons behind the change from seasons that couldn't include boyfriends to the birth of a couple in Wonderful Precure
Some basic summary of this post written by Kasumi, the guy who keeps track of Precure sales and makes handy graphs and whatnot.
The beginning of this article is summary of Wonderful Precure's Satoiro developments.
Later in the article, there's some quotes from Narita. Summarized: After the first few seasons, the response they got from parents was that they would prefer not to have romance because the girls watching this were like 3, 4 years old. So it was a taboo to write about romantic relationships.
The first few seasons were about falling in love with older boys shoujo manga-style, then we have Fresh's whole "I'm not telling you my answer" ending.
In Happiness Charge Narita was uncertain about whether they should do romance as one of the main themes but Nagamine wanted to go for it. So they did a love triangle as one of the main writing setups. Narita still asked multiple times if it was okay to write what she was writing. When Megumi lost in love at the end of the series it became a big topic.
After Happiness Charge they took a step back again and romance barely features besides crushes that don't go anywhere.
This changed in Hugtto when Homare gets turned down by Harry, and Hana's whole thing with George (aka her future schrodinger's evil husband).
None of these depictions are like focused on romance as something that actually leads to a mutual, intentional relationship.
Tropirouge was made specifically to have 0 romance
Black Pepper was created with the idea that he was supposed to work with the girls to save each other rather than just saving them from a pinch. His feelings were only written in to add a bit of spice to the show. But he signals a shift from possible love interests being a prince you admire to a partner that fights with you.
Every season that has served as a turning point in Precure's depiction of romance has had Narita in charge of series composition (Happiness Charge, Otona, and Wonderful).
Article mentions that while before it was unthinkable for idols and actors to have romantic partners, in the 2020 era it's become more normal for actors and TV talent to declare that they're dating and for idols to continue their idol work while being married.
プリキュアでも、かつては「コクる」「彼氏」という言葉1つだけでも保護者から大ブーイングだった時代がありました。
In Precure as well, there was an era where the words "confession" or "boyfriend" were met with loud booing from guardians.
But the times and mindsets have changed so now we have a married Precure and a Precure with a boyfriend.
This quote is basically what was just summarized above. In addition to the booing thing, Umezawa (producer for Fresh, Heartcatch, Suite) says that he realized that if they wrote things that parents wouldn't want to show their kids then it wouldn't be Precure
So I guess parent opposition is indeed a big reason why they've been avoiding romance. But nowadays:
Satoiro has been massively popular with elementary school girls.
The target range for Precure has risen now also with the cosmetics and the like, ranging from elementary schoolers to young women.
We should expect to see more depictions of romantic love in Precure in the future.
"Change is Precure's strong point."

I HOPE Vi gets some sort of moment or mini arc in act 3, shes been dkne so dirty. Do u have any theories?
hi anon! ready for the most incoherent ramble ever let's get started
i definitely want the same thing. in particular, i need vi to be angry at caitlyn for more reasons than caitlyn joining ambessa. even ONE moment, one LINE where vi finally stands up for herself because people treat her like shit, i'd be happy enough
Tumblr media
i wouldn't go as far to say that vi hasn't had an arc this season, but they brush over it so badly that it feels like she doesn't
but let's talk about that. one of the big problems with vi this season is that she doesn't have her own goals or drive the plot like she did in season 1. and perhaps it's supposed to be a reflection of how lost and insignificant she feels, but it makes her feel sidelined and like a plot device. this is the exact reason why i LOVE the moments when her character drives the plot and not the other way around (i.e. when she stops caitlyn, when she decides to trust jinx about warwick, when she protects jinx from the explosion at the end of episode 6)
Tumblr media
vi's at her best when she 1) exercises agency, rather than simply going along with everything, and 2) has someone to protect. with that being said, vi's "timeline" in season 2 kind of looks like this:
act 1: vi's spiral into guilt (doing anything to alleviate said guilt) and losing everything (again) act 2: vi having nothing left, not having a "purpose," and trying to grapple with her supposed insignificance to the people and the world around her act 3: vi getting back up on her feet, finding her place in the world
something so, so crucial about vi is that she NEEDS other people in her life. i've seen people complain about it (me included), but we DO see how she is when she has no one left to protect and it's not fun at all (i would've loved to see more but you know, i'll take what i can get). she's bitter, angry, depressed and falls back into a familiar, self-destructive routine not so different from her years in prison. the second she learns that someone needs her help (vander) she sobers up and, though tentatively, goes "alright, i'll help" because she's a protector, she wants to help people, that's at the core of her character
since she has important people back in her life, it does give me some hope that vi will be more prominent in act 3. vi still has to decide to become an enforcer (again) and it's hopefully for reasons outside of guilt this time. vi has to forgive caitlyn, sort things out with jinx, and will play a significant role in stopping ambessa and viktor. act 3 is also when vi gets the cut over her face tattoo, so if we're lucky act 3 will actually be vi focused but that's just me being hopeful

‼️NIGHTBRINGER LESSON 55 SPOILERS‼️
masterlist | all lessons | season 3 | lesson 54 | lesson 55.2
Tumblr media
not they ended last lesson on the cliffhanger and barely addressed it in this one 🧍🏾
honestly that's on par for someone as closed off as raphael but FUCK i wanted some insight on how he's actually feeling. what's up with angels and not letting themselves show weakness ???
also the fact that this part of the lesson is called "back to the sorcerer's society" ??? mc's had too many death scares i can't keep doing this
Tumblr media
gotta get all the mammon crumbs i can now that i know that the stupid date feature is 30 FUCKING DOLLARS 😐 i'm semi p2p but this shit is getting more and more ridiculous as the days drag on. like i'll just use character and and fanfiction atp
Tumblr media
it's the way that i forgot the fact that mc's existence can literally tear apart reality at the seams. like that whole thing that happened in season 3 (4?) of og when simeon had to steal lucifer's ring and ended up becoming human bc of it
i feel like his punishment would've been way more lethal if the stakes weren't so dire. mc having lucifer's ring was the only sure fire way to ensure stability within and between the human, celestial, and demon realms without having any of them implode
this also explains why magic sickness is so concerning for mc specifically. to quote marvel, kayden is probably this universe's anchor being. if they go down, so does everything else in the timeline
Tumblr media
me and sol got beef now bc what /lh
like yes he did what had to be done but did he HAVE to do what had to be done ????
also the fact that mc broke the measuring device after solomon had to fix it with reinforcements bc he himself broke the device before is so ??? like how fucking strong is mc ??????
this brings even more of a concern to the fact that a war breaking out between any of the realms would literally be life and death. if any of the brothers or their friends family get hurt, mc would cause irreparable damage to whoever or whatever is closest to them, whether the target caused the problem or not. like that's terrifying
Tumblr media
this is why i love satan
he's almost more no-bullshit than lucifer is, which makes sense all things considered. in his eyes they still don't know anything about mc's power. all this is to satan is an educated guess, and when it inevitably gets disproved, then what? what if they do end up hurting someone
i doubt that'll happen since there's so little time left in this season but idk. it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility
Tumblr media
i'm very glad that they used the very obvious answer as to why mc's powers are going haywire, bc the whole "it's just bc they're so loving and kind" thing just seemed like a cop out to me. like where are the stakes. what about the first 40 lessons of the game
ANYWAYS i'm very interested to see how this'll play out. part of me thinks diavolo and lucifer already know bc 1) they're not stupid and 2) dia is in close enough proximity to the time demon himself to know when something happened to the time stream (or as barbie himself called it, "time soup")
like look at the way barbatos reacted and the way diavolo immediately changed the subject. they both know something's going on, but whether or not diavolo knows the specifics is up in the air
satan is also the funniest mf on the planet idc argue with the wall. he really is the product of all his brothers bc this SCREAMS mammon and levi
Tumblr media
:((( poor raph
i honestly can't even imagine what it feels like. the only angels he probably has left that he's actually close to are michael and maybe luke. even then, he probaboy sees luke as someone he can't confide in and feels like he's losing his brother(s) all over again
at least with simeon in purgatory hall, he can delude himself into thinking that simeon's still an angel. but if he's not there anymore, it's all but set in stone that he's lost what little connection he had left to simeon and, in a way, the other brothers, bc luke wasn't around or old enough to remember pre-war times
on a brighter note...michael lore. kinda. and mephisto being a kisser of multiple asses (mephisto fans i'm sorry he's so fun to dog on)
i wish he could get his head outta his ass though. like actually. just pay your boyfriend a visit ffs, he'd be beyond happy to see you
Tumblr media
of COURSE he's not in his room and of COURSE this is how the lesson ends
watch lesson 60 end with a michael-related cliffhanger. like watch them tease his design reveal and then just cut the shit off right before he's shown
but i need the michael design asap i'm so serious. solmare count your days

Ok lemme talk about this season of Arcane, the ending, and most importantly, Sevika. If you don't want spoilers, back away now but I'm leaving this open because people have a tendency to not open or read my posts with read more cuts after them 🙃
[SPOILERS BELOW]
[SPOILERS BELOW]
[SPOILERS BELOW]
[SPOILERS BELOW]
[SPOILERS BELOW]
First off, I will say that I like Arcane a lot. Like a LOT. I've watched the first season 4 times (rarely do I watch anything more than once) and I think it's a masterclass in adult animation. Fortiche really put everything into this series.
That being said...
While I did like season 2, I don't think it was enough. Animation wise it was phenomenal, writing wise...I think it could have been better. As I've learned through doing research for my Sevika fics, the League of Legends universe, lore, and worldbuilding is fucking MASSIVE and even if I don't give two shits about that community or game, I have to give it props in that department because they really put a ton of work into it to make it feel alive. Maps? Short stories? Timelines? Race and culture? Apex could never...
That ofc is why it's hard for me to say that the writing is amazing. We had far too many characters to keep track of in season 2 with far too many plot threads to finish in two seasons. I think ideally, this series should have been 3 seasons instead of 2. Acts 1 and 2 could have been its own season, and Act 3 could have been its own season. If not that, then at least one more episode per act would have helped a lot. Things just progressed and wrapped up far too quickly for my liking.
Also not a huge fan of how quickly video game related media tends to dip into the whole timeline and multidimensional business. It def works well for some games but here? Idk I guess it was bound to happen given some League character's abilities, but the stakes just elevated far too quickly for me. Not a fan of Viktor becoming one of the main antagonists at all, and DEFINITELY not a fan of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun being sidelined for an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" thing with the war against the Noxians. It makes sense, I just wish "war with the Noxians" came at a later date so we could focus on the twin cities.
And speaking of the generational conflict between Piltover and Zaun, let's talk about Sevika.
As I said before, Sevika is the most qualified person to become the leader of Zaun and I stand by that even after the ending. But first....what about her found family? Isha sacrificed herself and Sevika gets no on-screen reaction? The last two episodes just progressed SOOOO FAST that we and some of the characters didn't even have time to breathe. Did Sevika even get time to mourn for Isha? What about Jinx, who is now gone? Sevika barely even encountered Vander! I would have loved to see some of the aftermath there because I think season 1 did a better job of allowing characters time to process their emotions and grief, even if the pacing was still kinda fast. It was acceptable!
I am sad af she didn't get more lines, but remember, Sevika has always been a side character in this series. An important side character but a side character no less. The promo shot of her now feels like...what was the point? (more on that in a sec) but considering how many characters and plot points and plot threads they had to account for, I am not surprised she didn't get more screen time. Hell, Vi and Caitlyn didn't even get a chance to have a full conversation on eveything that happened and Caitlyn didn't even apologize on screen. The fuck bro.
Now about Sevika's ending....I am very happy she isn't dead. Like dawg, you have no fucking idea how happy I am about it. SHE FUCKING LIVED. But....
I am seeing some people saying they're not happy or they're confused or that her ending doesn't make sense. And I just disagree with those points. Let me explain why.
I posted something earlier today about it, but again, as people don't open my read mores, I'll repost it here:
We absolutely do not know how much time passed between the war and the final few shots of the season. So Sevika joins the council. I DO NOT THINK she would do this unless there's a good reason for it, and that's why I'm guessing she will be Zaun's ambassador on the council. That war probably significantly changed the relationship between Piltover and Zaun and while old wounds will take more than a fucking war to heal, her being on the council now means she directly has a say in Zaun's future. Remember, the council was literally about to hand Zaun their independence before Jinx blew it up, and Mel was in support of it. As I said before, Sevika is respected down there at a bare minimum with all the factions. She would know better than anyone how to lead Zaun at this point. So yeah I get the hesitation, but it makes sense in my eyes. And it makes it likely that Sevika could show up again in a future League animation, if not become a whole champion.
I like her ending. I am sorry but it just makes fucking sense. Sevika is extremely loyal to her home and her people of Zaun. We've seen that time and time again. She was willing to go to war and die for those people not just against Piltover but also the Noxians, so why on fucking earth would anyone believe she's making a bad choice here?
She is now in the best possible position anyone in Zaun could be to advocate for their independence and support their growth. She knows the chem barons and brought them to peace, she gained the respect of the Firelights with Scar leading them in Ekko's absence, and she even got the Jinxers together with them before the Noxian attack on Zaun. Sevika has experience, she has the ear of the people, she knows what it's like down there, she is made to lead and help advocate for them!!!!
Believe me I get that whole "changing things from the inside" angle doesn't work more often than not, but this doesn't feel like "changing from the inside," it feels like "let me advocate for my people's actual independence so we have a starting point to become self sufficient." Again, Piltover was literally about to let Zaun gain their independence, and while none of the previous council members that agreed to it are there, Mel is/was. Who's to say she didn't help negotiate for Sevika to sit on the council and start (or complete!) the Zaun independence process before she left for Noxus? I can't imagine Sevika would just show up to the table and sit there if she didn't have a damn good reason. Like come on now. This woman has seen first-hand what Piltover is capable of and does not like them nor looks like she wants to be there. But she's seen what Piltover has done to her people first-hand, and after learning from both Vander and Silco, this is how she feels she can best protect her people.
She IS the new leader of Zaun and their ambassador at the council.
And lastly, we've been told that some characters will be returning in future League animations. Mel seems like an absolute given, but what about Sevika? Zaun's story is only just beginning, and yeah they said they'd like to branch out to other regions, that doesn't mean a cameo or maybe another medium can't be used to continue that story (a book, perhaps??).
Anyway yeah those are my thoughts...

I like to think that Zam's endless resolve and capability to bounce back from almost anythin scare other players on some deep, subconscious level. Because it's in human nature to give up and he just does not. It's intimidating in an uncanny valley way. Death doesn't scare him. Getting banned off means practically nothing to him. He's not afraid to lose everything he has and often even wishes failure on himself because it'd be funny. Losing items, hearts and bases is not a big deal for him. And it's terrifying. You get used to it after a couple of seasons of interacting with him and then you learn to weaponize it and it just makes you uncomfortable when you think about it for too long. It especially freaks out those, who happen to be against him. Like Spoke in season 3, Mapicc and Ro in season 4, Minute in season 5, etc. But new players are really disturbed by it whenever they interact with him. Like, Wemmbu still feels uneasy around him and sometimes is hesitant to annoy him. Flame doesn't want to fight him more than he needs to, because he trusts his instincts, and they tell him to stay away. Mane can't figure out where the illogical desire to come back despite having nothing comes from and it terrifies him. Kab doesn't understand why he's so ready to risk everything, while everyone else cares about it, and it deeply scares her.

my main problem with the ending of arcane s2 (as a person who never and still knows nothing about league of legends lore) is how big the world became, and past the initial crux of piltover vs. zaun:
the arc of arcane has always been really about vi and jinx and how they r representative, almost microcosms of the reality of zaun, violently controlled and forced into worse circumstances, poverty, addiction, crime- all of these things by piltover
inherently the story is around classism, about resisting your oppressors, and season 2 rlly frames the story of the “imperfect hero” - act 2 surrounded the idea of jinx being an emblem and the necessity of zaun’s resistance in order to exceed their circumstances of survival- but the death of her, of simply adding one board member to the council
Of not really fleshing out why or how zaun and piltover simply “got over” their war in order to fight for the greater bad?
Jinx was always going to have a bad ending, from the start- to her hero storyline- it was destined to happen- but reducing it to that simple of a death with little meaning or showcase of the impact she’s had??? Also - controversial opinion possibly?? But I’ve always felt the real hero of zaun was ekko- loved jinx’s and his scenes together but I wanted more in terms of the symbolism of him being the real hero and jinx acknowledging together than their resistance, that their love for zaun was more important than anything, that they understood eachother and their place.
Never been a fan of the caitvi storyline, particularly when it takes precedence over interesting storyline- idgaf about a fucking fascist?? why did we excuse this??? how did we excuse this? did we forget the chemical warfare she casually dealt out? that vi became perfectly fine because they’re in love? Sis, your parents were murdered alongside half of zaun- also fair was a huge part of the copaganda storyline which has never been my favourite- so having the only fine ending for them was a rlly interesting choice.
are we not gonna talk about singed who had almost no allegiances to either piltover or zaun but simply to his daughter who seemed perfectly happy at the end - did he achieve immortality, how does he escape any consequences- sucks that he had no real agenda because I feel that was a missed character choice!
I think the first two acts felt rlly phenomenal in fleshing out the moral ambiguities that come with “war” and how in order to gain freedom, it is never gained through merely peaceful methods - act 3 almost completely dismissed or forgoed that idea
I also may have just missed a bunch of stuff!

Act 3 spoilers
I just wanted to voice my opinions on the entirety of act 3, I will be making another post focusing on Jayce because I am disappointed with his story specifically.
Let's start with what I'm happy with!
The display of Mel's magic was amazing. All her scenes were so powerful.
CaitVi is canon! (which was predictable for obvious reasons but i'm still happy for them)
The music choice was perfect, as well as the quality of the episodes, as expected. No matter the storyline's flaws, the art style itself is undeniably gorgeous.
Maddie dies IMMEDIATELY after betraying Piltover, so I'm happy with that. Don't get me wrong, I think the season looked rushed, but the instant karma of that scene was enjoyable. It's well executed shock value.
The Caitlyn/Mel and Ambessa fight sequence was SICK. They really emphasized Ambessa's strength and battle IQ here, and while I dislike her, it was satisfying to watch.
The JayVik ending. Now, I am very conflicted with this, but I'll focus on the positive part. THIS MOMENT WAS SO TENDER!! It revealed how much Jayce truly loved and cared for Viktor, and that Viktor thought Jayce to be the only person who could ever make him acknowledge the importance of humanity. Jayce was his last and only hope, and Jayce proved Viktor right in every timeline.
Jayce defenders, we won. We got an entire episode dedicated to what Jayce and Ekko/Heimerdinger went through, and it proved that JAYCE WAS RIGHT AND HIM AND EKKO ARE OUR SAVIORS THANK YOU 🙏
Jayce looked fine asf. That is a beautiful man and I'm expecting many more edits (pretty please).
Alright, now let's get to what I'm upset about.
Jayce's wasted potential. The way I see it, they just reduced him to a pawn in Viktor's character arc, considering that his life begins and ends with Viktor. It's sweet, yes, and can be counted as a win for JayVik shippers, but I really wanted more for Jayce. And yes, I will most definitely come back to this on my Jayce-centric post.
The lack of reaction to Jinx's and Jayce's "death". I'm honestly not sure if either of them are dead (I am also somewhat in denial). Mel lost her lover, of whom brought out a softer side of herself that she didn't even know existed, and there's no reaction? Not even a scene of her finding out? The same goes for Caitlyn, since she literally saw Jayce as an older brother. Then there's Vi, who's seen completely fine with Caitlyn, and Ekko, who's having the only appropriate reaction, but even so, it's too calm. We'd have to assume that there's been another timeskip, but it couldn't have been long since the war. ALSO XIMENA, Jayce's MOTHER, she's seen putting a paper of Jayce's name to burn and honor him after his supposed death, but her expression is blank. Just simple resignation. I don't know, the lack of reaction had me questioning why I was sad.
No proper reunion scenes besides Ekko/Jinx and Mel/Jayce?????I actually liked Ekko and Jinx's reunion, but Mel and Jayce? Not even close to what I expected or wanted.
This season was rushed; that's something everyone can agree on. I think it was very focused on action rather than the complexity of these people's relationships and minds, while the first season had a balance between both. There just wasn't enough time for that balance with all the information they had to give us.
Honestly, and this is gonna sound horrible but hear me out, I would've preferred it if they had episode 6 be the last episode instead, and used the act 2 to explore Caitlyn's dictator arc and truly emphasize how long Jayce, Ekko, and Heimerdinger had been gone. I know how this sounds, but I really wanted to see more of Caitlyn and her mindset during the whole fascism plot rather than have her throw it all away three episodes later. It would've helped others understand her more, while also acknowledging how blinded she had become with anger and sadness. Also, this would've given more time for people to grow an attachment to Isha and see how she reminds Jinx of Powder!!! Just imagine it, the season closing with Jayce "killing" Viktor, no sign of Ekko or Heimerdinger, and Isha dying would have been even MORE devastating; the ultimate cliffhanger. There's no denying people would've been angry and shocked, but it would've made us want more, just like the first season did. I would be 100% willing to wait 3 or more years for the next season than have such an underwhelming ending.
Okay, I think that's it. Might add more to this post later if I come up with any other critiques, be prepared for the Jayce post because I NEED to talk about him.

act 3 was a fucking mess. holy shit. like, i really disliked watching all that. what a terrible way to end your show. we have, off the top of my head:
completely missing the point of the original plot between piltover & zaun by having them unite to defeat the "bigger" enemy... and zaun still isn't free
spending most of the last episode fighting those drones or whatever was extremely boring idc, it was worse than act 1 which also felt like a chore to watch
maddie being the "other woman" who was a traitor all along, and then killed for it. she actually had potential, whether she knew what she had been really doing or not
we saw nothing of isha and there will never be more content so it's safe to assume she died just for the sake of bringing jinx temporary peace and then just traumatizing her again by making the "everyone in my life dies" thing true and have her be alone forever
speaking of which, why did jinx have to die in the most stereotypical sacrifice way ever? is she even dead? what was the point of this? isn't she a very important part of vi being an enforcer in the LoL game always hunting her down?
are jayce & viktor dead, or at least gone? am i bad at interpreting this?
as much as i wanted it to stay that way, why were jinx and vi suddenly on good terms again until the end simply over vander potentially being brought back? why was jinx just... not a bad person anymore? no psychosis, grieving, or insanity? in the ep7 AU where vi apparently died, she seemed to have a pretty normal memorial of her to talk to sometimes, like a gravesite
how could caitvi have been salvaged? i suppose i could understand a sort of FWB situation, but the way they were suddenly on speaking terms again like nothing happened after running into each other again doesn't make sense to me. there was a lot of resentment during the fight with jinx, which should have lasted between all 3 of them.
idk these are just some surface-level thoughts but i'm really disappointed. i was never that hyperfixated on arcane to begin with but it really wasn't worth the hype or wait. the first season was so good so this really sucks, plain and simple.
