we joke but viktor not having sex organs after fusing with the core is so poignant. the core removed something from his body that tied him to his humanity. hes inching further and further from it in the name of evolution

and then there's the blanket jayce gives him. it's almost ironic, viktor tells him he doesnt feel cold, jayce can see he has nothing there to 'cover up' but he covers him anyway, as if to beg viktor to hold on to his humanity at any cost. and viktor does. to his dying breath, as he sets off on his mission, he keeps the blanket draped around him. it's the last thing tying him to the physical world, jayce is the last thing tying him to the world, he's the last person left who has any affection for him. but now jayce has severed that tie.

for me it’s the way that joel openly admits to ellie that he tried to kill himself because sarah died. this is the same gruff closed off man who, not that long ago, didn’t even want to hear sarah’s name. or tess’s. who called ellie cargo.

but he opens up to ellie, tells her that he tried to commit suicide because he just “couldn’t see the point anymore.��� he has been hurting and holding this pain inside of him for 20 YEARS, and “it wasn’t time” that helped put him on the path to healing. it was ellie. he found purpose in being a father again.

and at most a few hours after admitting that, he is faced with the death of his daughter. Again. marlene just tells him that ellie is going to die with no goodbye and hands him her knife. the knife that belonged to anna, the only piece that ellie had of her mom. the only piece joel will have left of ellie. and we know that if he loses ellie, he won’t make it! he won’t flinch this time. he won’t miss. he will succeed in ending his life this time because if he loses ellie that’s it for him.

so he makes a choice. the fireflies didn’t tell ellie that the operation would kill her, they didn’t give her a choice. joel isn’t giving ellie a choice either, in this moment, because for him there is not other option. joel sees the sign for the pediatric surgery wing and the decision is made.

and when he kills his way through the hospital, he doesn’t miss. he wasn’t quick enough for sarah, for tess, for henry or sam. couldn’t even shoot himself properly. but for ellie, he won’t miss. because there was one person worth saving. and god help any motherfuckers who stand in his way.

i KNOW it's been talked about to death but. the haikaveh research project. it literally haunts my mind. i cannot get over the implications. alhaitham going through his school life as someone that most people dont even really know about because he keeps to himself and doesn't socialize, with kaveh being the one exception to that, finding his way into his life as his Best Friend, and then leading to alhaithams one and only time he participated in a research topic. his bio says he only ever did ONE joint project!!! one!!! the one with kaveh his best friend and i think also his only friend at the time!!!! and then it ended in not only the project falling apart but also alhaithams only friendship. kavehs best friendship. they were each others closest person. they had no family around - alhaithams parents having died when he was young and his grandmother dying before he joined the akademiya, and kaveh's dad dying when he was young and his mom having moved to fontaine. like even if you dont look at it through a romantic lens it's still undeniable how important they were [and are] to each other..........

i'm getting off track but my point is very specifically for alhaitham, the one time he got close to someone, made a friend, even agreed to join one(1) group project ever, it ended in disaster. it led him into a fight so bad that his one and only friend said he regretted that friendship!!!! it was so bad alhaitham left the project and he and kaveh didnt speak for ages until they just happened to run into each other again at the tavern!!!!! like obviously it has to be incredibly awful for both of them but i just think how this probably had alhaitham in the cynical mindset that friendships and collaborations like that might just never work out for him because the one time he let someone into his life, it blew up on him and he was all alone again. even though alhaitham never seems to care much if people dont like him, that clearly cant still apply to someone he was exceptionally close to. like if he didnt care he woudlnt have been the one to take his name off the project and mutually not speak to kaveh...... kavehs words are the ones that hit the most significantly to alhaitham.......... kaveh is said/implied to have had at least some other friends while at school / people knew who he was, but not so much alhaitham. people didnt know him and the ones that did just knew he didnt socialize/he was not easy to get along with. he only had kaveh and then, for a while, he lost him too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been thinking about the snippets a lot because of all the Q&A info the past two days. Here’s to hoping we get a new one soon!

My guess is that perhaps the play snippet related to the PR and stuff that Holliday Wu wants them all to do. I think there’s just a lot more especially that Morrigan has to do because of everyone’s views on Wundersmiths. Rereading the snippet makes me think that maybe Cadence maybe is helping her write a speech or something like that? 🤷

Also revisiting the snippets made me realize that I don’t know if I ever really read the whole Holliday snippet before, or at least I didn’t register Nan talking about other tournament dragon riders usually being “rich, aristocratic Nevermoorians”. No wonder we’re going to the Silver District!

If the Neverfour emojis are chronological, part of me wants to think about the order the snippets might be in the story… 🤔

do you ever think about how amity blight was raised in an abusive household and often didn’t get along with her siblings and had fake friends and treated people poorly because that’s all she knew how to do because that’s how she was treated. and do you think about how she still came out of that with the capacity and willingness to do good and improve herself and mend the mistakes she made, and how she and her siblings were able to become close and look out for each other even though they were pitted against each other, and how amity’s first really good relationship was with willow park as children and now she has the chance to have that friendship again and she found those people that don’t make her feel like everything is an opportunity to prove herself and she can breathe a little and she can love people again, she can love people again, she can love her siblings and her best friend willow park and her goofy human luz, and she can love this weird kid named gus that she never really knew but now she gets to and he’s like a little brother and she likes feeling like a big sister, and she can love hunter, this boy who grew up a lot like her and is on the same kind of path towards healing and she can love him like a brother because they just understand each other and when she loves him she remembers that she can love herself. if she can love someone who made a lot of the same mistakes that she did then she can love herself. and do you think about how amity blight has so much potential for interesting dynamics with every other character in the show. do you think about how she is one of the most beautiful and hopeful stories in the owl house because she’s all about love. and hope. and redemption. and receiving grace. do you ever just think about amity blight
