I really love this prompt, so I had to write something.
after the death of Jackie's lovely grandparents, his family got the estate and their cat. It was all fine and dandy as they started to move in, most things being as they were when his grandparents had lived there. The antique furniture was somehow in perfect condition, not a single scratch from the cat.
Jackie's room was going to be in the attic, so he started to clean out all the old junk. Sorting through stuff that would be worth money and old trash, keeping the antique and the yard sale pile separate. He found some old family photos and portates, setting them aside for later, most likely just planning to throw them away after getting photos of his grandparents.
After a while his parents called him down for dinner. on his way down he nearly tripped over the cat, causing it to meow up at him, it had such a tiny and kitten like mewl. He picked up the fluffy calico and headed to the kitchen. "What was the cats name again?" He asked as the cat jumped from his arms and sat down by its bowl. "I dont remember, it might've just been chat. You can rename her if you want." His mother said as she put together a meal from what they had at the moment. "That's a boy cat," He lifted the calico up by its sides. "See, he has balls." His father laughed at that but his mother didn't find it as funny. "Jackie, I dont want to see a cats genitals before I'm about to eat." The cat wiggled out of his grip, then he sat down to eat with his family.
After dinner he had almost forgotten about the pictures until he tripped over a box of them, making them scatter. With a sigh he began to pick them up, notice a cat in a few of them. A lot of them. Old ones. At first he thought it was just another calico cat, maybe an ancestor of the current cat. But then he noticed over the decades worth of photos, that the patterns stayed the same. Always the same.
He quickly checked the back of the photos, the ones that included the cats name all had him as Sasha. Same pattern. Same name. Same cat.
He rushed downstairs with the photos to show his family, almost tripping over the cat again, but this time he swiftly ran past instead of picking him up.
When he got to his family he frantically told them about the cat as they sat on the couch, they did not look concerned at all. Not one bit. They laughed it off and told him to get ready for bed. When the cat rubbed against his legs he jumped and whisper yelled "I know your secret." Before he ran off again.
He closed the attic door and locked it. Ignoring the meows and scratching that followed a few minutes later; he curled up in his bed and tried to sleep, hoping that this was just a bad dream.
When he woke up the photos in his hand were gone. Maybe it was just a dream after all. As he sat up with a yawn he spotted the cat, sitting at the edge of his mattress. Just a dream. Please? "Hey... S-sasha, that's not actually your name though, that had to have just been a dream... Right Sasha?" The cat meowed in response to his words. He quickly leapt up and ran for the door, it was still locked. It couldn't have been a dream. How did the cat get up there? How was it alive? He heard it's small feet patter forward and he quickly unlocked the door before running downstairs.
He spent his whole day avoiding that cat, spending most of it with his mother as he helped her clean up the house a bit.
The cat kept following him, somehow getting into locked rooms and watching him from windows when he was outside.
He couldn't run forever, and he watched in dread as the cat slowly approached hid bed when he finally had to sleep. He wanted to run, to scream, to do something, but he had stayed awake and avoidant for two days and he couldn't keep his eyes open, no matter how scared he was. He felt paralyzed as his eyes slid shut and he felt something else get on his bed. "Shhh, no one has to know. Let's keep this a secret, ok boy?" What felt like a hand touched his face, two fingers prying one of his eyes open. "Right?" The figer in front of him was still rather small and surprisingly humanoid, it was just a bit smaller than him. Sashas hair was long and fluffy; it was patched with browns and blacks, with streaks of white. His skin was similar. His eyes were still big and cold brown.
He managed a small nod, then Sasha let go and got off the bed as Jackie quickly fell asleep, more likely from magic than exhaustion at this point.
(Sasha btw. I had to draw him. Might draw Jackie next.)
I had to sit down and think about how I would make a person calico. I actually really like it. might render it later.
I need to stop drawing feminine men though...
Your grandparent passes and your parents inherit the palatial estate as well as the care for its cat. After going through several family records you realize the cat has been inherited throughout the generations. You try telling others but they forget. Now it keeps trying to be alone with you.

Yet again I see people mischaracterizing Jimmy as some jerk who lashes out on people for no reason and berates them for anything minor like where did you get this from did you actually read any dialogues in the game????????
Jimmy really only threw one shade at Daisuke, he didn't think he was spoilt rich kid he just said he was covered by his parents because he had support system unlike all of them grown up adults. Most of times Jimmy just awkwardly slid off silly things Daisuke said, like the ladies comment or when they were mixing the drink. Daisuke actually trusted and listened to Jimmy throughout the game (to his own detriment unfortunately). Jimmy sent him to the vent because he was the captain and he wasn't going to do the dirty job obviously and if the Swansea somehow woke up Jimmy could shift the blame like he had already got away with. Even when eventually things went to shits we don't see him blaming Daisuke because Jimmy recognised that it was his decision to send him there. Jimmy didn't want to fatally injure him, he tried to "fix it later" which didn't help at all and Jimmy felt guilty about it.
Jimmy treated Anya dog shit half the time it's true but not to the extent some people make it to be. He loves control, he has said so to Curly's face, to ours and that's why he made sure to put her down and belittle her. That's why he (potentially repeatedly) sexually assaulted Anya â because rape is form of power play, he didn't even want her sexually. Initially, Jimmy didn't hate Anya, he just didn't like her and the feeling was mutual. He continued to do bare minimum for her, like when checking up on the crew. If I had to guess how Jim viewed her by the end, then he most likely found her inferior, incompetent, always putting work on his shoulders (or responsibilities he didn't want (pregnancy)), together with being paranoid of her having the potential to ruin his life. That's why he got so pissed off when he saw her crying to Swansea, very likely having already told another person of what he has done. (I'm 100% sure he holds the grudge for telling Curly, who then rushed to "fix things", making Curly seem like a responsible captain which Jim hated.)
Jimmy never made any attempts at understanding or sympathising with Swansea. He knew him longer than Daisuke yet the latter understood him better. Jimmy probably thought that Swansea was an old grumpy man who hated everyone and everything. As the game went on Jimmy just considered Swansea to be nothing but a selfish drunkard (due to immediately assuming he was hoarding cryopod to himself). After the vent incident who Jim blames for the absence of medicine? If Swansea wasn't so stubborn (for like, few times) Jimmy wouldn't have need to spend prescious recourses on him. He could have saved Daisuke instead and fix his fuck up but Swansea ruined it twice. Swan doing arguably the right thing by putting out Daisuke out of his misery only solidified his role as a villain and a threat in Jimmy's eyes, that's why probably as a revenge (for not giving him enough time to think) he went for the gun instead of cryopod like Swansea allowed him to.
And finally Curly. Honestly this deserves a separate book on it's own at this point. It's almost 3 a.m. here so I'll only mention some stuff. Jim aggressively lashes out twice on-screen, first time because he literally lost his dream job, listened to Curly "bitching about having said dream job" and couldn't come face to the fact that Curly was "abandoning him while also looking unscratched from the fall of the ladder" while Jimmy will return to his struggle of life (he didn't even know about the pregnancy yet...). Second time was when Anya endangered Jim's new status as a captain and like I mentioned reminded him that she could fuck up his life even more. Feeling like he was losing control, Jimmy beat up poor Curly who was stripped out of said control by non other than Jimmy. Finally, he was violent off screen by destroying Polle, out of frustration, irritation from the thing, and/or hatred and resentment for the company (que "Pony express is dead" line). In one instance he says "He's mocking us" which confirms that it's about Jimmy's ego.
In conclusion STOP MAKING MY SHITTY CHARACTER SHITTY IN THE WRONG WAYS. This isn't even a full blown analysis of Jimmy's character but accumulation of posts I read and conclusions I came with.
Focus on his already preexisting shitty qualities stop making up new ones ffs signing out.
#i'm going to tag this properly too this time fuck it#i should have been sleeping instead of writing this#god i love you jimmy my problematic king#mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#daisuke mouthwashing#anya mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#analysis

Had a customer today order a strawberry doughnut (among a few others), and I know she said âstrawberryâ because it sounds nothing like ârainbowâ and not even in the same way that âtwoâ and âthreeâ sound nothing alike yet I may still mistake them if the road is loud enough. It was âstrawberryâ âmy boss heard her say it too!
I give her her order, she checks it over. âThis is the rainbow?â Uh, what? I donât remember her ordering oneâI check my pad, thereâs no rainbow, so either she forgot or I didnât hear (itâs happened). âI got a glazed, a strawberryââ âThatâs a rainbow.â All righty then. I take the box back, tell my boss the change, void the strawberry, and charge a rainbow. The difference in price is 95Âą. I report this to the customer with an apology, and she does this little âOhâ (the little eye-rolling kind that could just be âDuh, me, would help if I got my wallet back out!â but in this case⊠probably wasnât). She tells me she only has her card (weâve got a card minimum of $3), and I wave her off since this is one of the cases weâll waive the min, and accept her card.
She starts asking if thereâll be an extra charge for it only being 95Âą, and I think sheâs asking if the store will have to pay extraâwe do, occasionally, get customers who are concerned about us. I donât like speaking any more than I have to (I have speech issues, and talking takes a lot of breath and energy which I donât always have), so I just shrug that off too since itâs nbd. She gets angry and starts yelling at me, and I realize she means will she for some reason have to pay more than the 95Âą Iâm charging her, so I explain that itâs just the store, that the store has to pay a fee on all card transactions and for ones under $3 it isnât worth it, but this is one of the situations weâll accept it anyway. Thankfully, she seems mollified, and the remainder of the interaction passes smoothly.
But this isnât the first time sheâs pulled this shit, itâs just apparently the first time sheâs actually had to pay for her upgraded doughnut, or at least the first time when she didnât have cash.
Because when she did the âIs this the rainbow?â thing, my boss recognized her. Sheâll come on Fridays, often during our rush so thereâll be a line of cars behind her, and sheâll order one doughnut and after paying claim she had actually ordered a rainbow. During those times, my boss will just hand her the rainbow doughnut no charge since sheâs more worried about getting the line moving than about a single dollar. But after today my boss ainât gonna let her get away with it anymore.
And like, seriously? Why the fuck would you do that at a small, one-location, family-owned shop? Go pull that sorta shit at a big chain. I thought everyone knew you steal from corporations, not local/ma-and-pa.
No but I hope I remember her next time Iâm at the window when she drives up, so when she âconvenientlyâ orders a cheaper doughnut instead of the specialty one she actually wants, I can sweetly ask her, âNo rainbow today?â Unfortunately though, while Iâm generally good at recognition, Iâm shit at association. There are regulars whoâve been getting the same thing for years, and while Iâll recognize them as a regular, I still donât know their order.

fluffy story with Jinx
âââââââââââââââââââââââ-
Jinx had never been great with emotions. She loved big, laughed loud, and threw herself into everything she did with a reckless kind of abandon, but soft feelings? She didnât really know how to handle those. That was, until you came along.
You werenât like anyone sheâd ever met before. Where most people treated her like a walking warning sign, you treated her like⊠Jinx. You didnât flinch when she got too loud, didnât turn away when she rambled about her inventions or her chaotic ideas. You actually listened.
It scared her at first, the way you looked at her like she mattered. But she liked it, even if it made her heart race in a way she wasnât used to.
It was late at night in Zaun, and you were both sprawled out on the couch in her chaotic hideout. The glow of her neon lights bathed the room in a soft pink and blue haze as Jinx tinkered with a new gadget. You were curled up next to her, a blanket draped over your lap, watching her work.
âOkay, okay, check this out,â she said suddenly, sitting up and holding the contraption out in front of her.
âWhat is it this time?â you asked with a smile, leaning closer.
âItâs a surprise,â she said with a mischievous grin, pressing a button. The gadget whirred to life, spinning and popping confetti everywhere. âTa-da! Itâs a celebration machine! For you!â
âFor me?â you asked, laughing as a small piece of confetti landed in your hair.
âDuh,â she said, brushing it away gently. âYouâre the best thing thatâs happened to me, so yeah, you get your own celebration machine. Whatâs the big deal?â
You felt your cheeks warm at her words. âJinx⊠thatâs so sweet.â
âSweet? Nah, Iâm just being honest,â she said, flopping back down beside you. âBesides, you deserve all the celebrations. Youâre, like, the softest, most huggable person Iâve ever met. Itâs awesome.â
You raised an eyebrow. âSoft and huggable, huh? Thatâs why you love me?â
âWell, duh,â she said, poking your side playfully. âI mean, thereâs also the fact that youâre funny and smart and make me feel all⊠you know, warm and fuzzy inside. But mostly, youâre just you, and I like that a lot.â
You couldnât help but laugh at her straightforwardness. âYouâre such a dork.â
âYeah, but Iâm your dork,â she said, wrapping her arms around you and pulling you into a tight hug.
The next morning, you woke up to the smell of something burning. Alarmed, you rushed to the small kitchen area of the hideout, where you found Jinx standing over a pan of what was supposed to be pancakes.
âUh⊠morning!â she said, looking guilty as she tried to scrape the charred mess off the pan.
âJinx, what are you doing?â you asked, trying not to laugh.
âMaking you breakfast, obviously,â she said, gesturing to the disaster in front of her. âItâs not going great, but itâs the thought that counts, right?â
You walked over and gently took the spatula from her hand. âWhy donât we do this together?â
Her face lit up. âYou mean I didnât ruin it completely?â
âNot completely,â you teased, nudging her playfully.
The two of you worked together, and soon enough, you had a stack of somewhat lopsided but edible pancakes. Jinx insisted on decorating them with a generous amount of syrup and sprinkles, because, as she put it, âEverythingâs better with sprinkles.â
As you sat down to eat, Jinx leaned her head on your shoulder, a rare moment of quiet contentment. âThanks for putting up with me, you know? Not everyone gets me, but you do. And I donât know⊠that means a lot.â
You smiled, reaching up to ruffle her blue hair. âYou mean a lot to me too, Jinx. Chaos and all.â
Her grin widened, and she pressed a sticky kiss to your cheek, leaving behind a little bit of syrup.
Later that day, the two of you wandered through Zaun, Jinx proudly showing off all her favorite hidden spots. She loved watching your reactions â the way your eyes lit up when you saw something new, or the way you laughed at her over-the-top explanations.
âOkay, okay, last stop,â she said, dragging you to the edge of a tall building where you could see all of Zaun spread out below.
âWow,â you said, taking in the view.
âPretty great, huh?â she said, sitting down and patting the spot next to her.
You joined her, leaning against her shoulder as the two of you sat in comfortable silence.
âHey,â she said after a while, her voice unusually soft. âYou know youâre stuck with me, right? Like, forever?â
You smiled, taking her hand in yours. âI wouldnât have it any other way.â
âGood,â she said, grinning. âBecause I kinda think youâre my favorite person in the whole world.â
You laughed, pressing a kiss to her cheek. âYouâre mine too, Jinx.â

if you're still doing writing requests
anything fluffy about the fire ghouls maybe đđŒ especially alpha or dew?
my day just got progressively worse haha so I need a pick me up
thank you so much đ have a lovely day/night wherever you are
- cupid ghoul but asking from anon bcs I'm NOT putting main on blast here haha >:) đ
I'm having a rough day as well after dealing with my car stuff. Hopefully some fluffy Dewdrop content will make it all better @cupid-ghoul :' )
Copia rushed through the halls, looking into any nearby room. He had been looking all over for Dewdrop, but he couldnât find the sometimes elusive fire ghoul.
It had begun to snow outside and he wanted to check in on Dewdrop to see how he was doing, but he wasnât in the ghoul den when he checked. The rest of the pack was outside enjoying the snow, but Dewdrop often did not go out when it was cold. The poor thing did not enjoy the cold that much.
âWhere could that ghoul be?â Copia murmured, crossing his arms as he thought of all the places Dewdrop could be. He had checked multiple sitting rooms where a fireplace was roaring but he wasnât in those rooms. Most siblings asked for his help with getting a fire going so Copia just had to check all of those rooms. He would find Dewdrop sooner or later.Â
After checking several more rooms, Copia was about to give up before he noticed two siblings rushing out of a room, whispering amongst themselves.
âDidnât know he could do that. How does that not hurt?â One questioned.
âI donât know. Good thing he took his clothes off. The smell would be awful,â another said.Â
That was a hopeful sign.Â
Copia put on a smile when the siblings noticed him. They gasped and straightened themselves up, looking frightened for a moment before calming down.
âGood morning, Papa. What brings you here?â The first sibling asked.
âAh, buongiorno. Good morning. Have you two seen Dewdrop anywhere?â Copia replied.
âHeâs in that room. Go take a look,â the second sibling said, gesturing to the open door.Â
Copia could already see the glow of a fire from within. His search was quickly coming to an end.
âGrazie. Thank you so much, my dears. Go get yourselves some hot chocolate or something nice and warm for helping me. Tell the siblings in the kitchen that Papa sent you,â Copia chimed, chuckling when he saw the delight on both of their faces.Â
âThank you, Papa!â They exclaimed before rushing away together.Â
Copia nodded in approval before turning his attention back to the room. He stepped in and immediately saw the roaring fire in the giant fireplace. The room felt like an inferno, but Copia was unphased. If a fire was this big, it meant only one thing.Â
Copia stepped closer and spotted Dewdrop lying in the fireplace, completely at peace and napping away amongst the burning logs. He held a log to his chest, purring away while nuzzling it. His clothes were strewn about the room, safely away from the fire.
Copia had heard tales of fire ghouls just napping in an open fireplace and it was quite a sight to see. Most times, he found Dewdrop laying before the fire and he never flinched when an ember flew out and hit his skin. Sometimes he was a bit too close to the fire for Copia's liking.
Dewdrop yawned loudly, inhaling embers and exhaling smoke as he opened his eyes, looking up at Copia tiredly.Â
âMm, morninâ, Papa,â he murmured, his voice barely heard over the fire.Â
âGood morning. Are you comfortable in there, Dewdrop?â Copia asked, smiling as he sat in a nearby armchair.
The ghoul nodded, curling up like a cat in the flames. He looked so cozy in there.
âCan you add some more logs, Papa? Itâs fuckinâ cold out there,â Dewdrop said, his tail lazily thumping the floor.Â
âOf course, ghoul. Are you making yourself nice and toasty for the others?â Copia chuckled while gathering some logs and tossing them into the flames, making them bigger.Â
âSure am. You want first dibs on cuddles?â Dewdrop asked, making space in the fireplace for him.
âAh, maybe later. You get your warm rest and Iâll see you later.â
Dewdrop didnât say anything else as he got comfortable with the new logs that hissed and sizzled around him. He was completely at peace in the fire and Copia was certain the rest of the pack would be all over him once they were done playing in the snow. Copia looked forward to joining that nice warm pile.

Accidental Reveal
Pairing: InÈs Bettencourt x Singer!Reader
Word count: 1307
My Masterlist :)
................................................................
InÈs was mentally checked out, sprawled on the floor of KK Arnold's dorm room, surrounded by the familiar faces of her UConn womenâs basketball teammates. It had been a long day of gruelling practice, and they were all in the same boatâexhausted but trying to squeeze in some downtime. The laughter and casual banter that filled the room was enough to make Ines smile, but her mind was elsewhere.
You.
You were the reason her thoughts kept drifting, pulling her away from the noise of the dorm room. You, her girlfriend, were in New York City, performing the latest stop of your tour for your new album. While you had invited her, she hadnât been able to make it tonight due to practice and a looming game this weekend. Instead, sheâd tuned into your livestream earlier, feeling that rush of pride as she watched you perform with so much energy and passion. The same passion that made her fall for you.
InÈs had been keeping this secret close to her heart for a while now. You two had decided to wait until the tour was over before going public. You deserved this moment for yourselfâyour first tour was a big deal, and the last thing you needed was the media focusing on your relationship instead of your music. You had both agreed: when it was time, youâd announce it together. A controlled, mutual decision.
But, in a few short moments, that decision was going to be ripped out of their hands.
KK, ever the social media enthusiast, had decided to go live on Instagram. It wasnât unusual; they often shared snippets of their lives with their fans. This time was no differentâjust a casual, fun moment with the team after practice. KK was holding her phone out, streaming the group of girls sprawled across the room, answering fan questions and goofing off. Ines hadnât really been paying attention to the livestream. She was busy scrolling through messages, hoping to find a text from you telling her how the concert went.
"InÈs, say hi to the fans!" KKâs voice cut through her thoughts, and she instinctively waved at the camera with a half-smile, still distracted.
"Hey," she mumbled, not even looking up from her phone. She could hear her teammates chatting, laughing at some of the questions being asked in the comments, but it all felt like background noise to her.
KK glanced at her with a playful smirk. "You watching anything good lately, Ines?"
It was a throwaway question, something to keep the conversation going for the fans. InÈs answered without even thinking, her head still full of you and your electric performance from earlier.
"Yeah, just watched my girlfriendâs tour livestreamâshe killed it."
The room went silent.Â
For a few seconds, Ines didnât notice. She was still glued to her phone, waiting for your reply. But then, she felt the weight of the sudden quiet, the absence of laughter, and she looked up.
KKâs face had gone pale, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at her phone, still streaming. The other girls were frozen too, exchanging stunned looks with one another. It was like someone had hit pause on the entire room. And then, KKâs brain finally kicked into gear, her hands fumbling to end the live stream as fast as possible.
InÈsâ heart dropped, her pulse quickening as she realised what had just happened.
No. No, no, no. What did I just do?
She could feel the panic rising in her chest, the weight of her mistake crushing her with every passing second. Her heart was pounding in her ears, her breath coming in short gasps as she stood there, frozen in place. She had just outed her relationship with youâliveâto thousands of people watching. It wasnât just a slip of the tongue; it was a slip that could spiral into a media frenzy.
KK quickly ended the live and slowly looked up at Ines. âUh⊠InÈs, are you okay?â
âI justâŠâ InÈs stammered, her voice breaking. âI⊠we were supposed to go public after the tour. Oh my God, I just ruined everything.â
Her teammates quickly gathered around her, offering murmurs of reassurance, but their worried faces only made her feel worse. She could already see the notifications exploding on her phoneâcomments, tags, DMs. The news was out there now, and there was no taking it back.
"You didnât ruin anything, itâs just⊠a little earlier than planned, right?" KK tried to sound upbeat, but her voice wavered.Â
âYeah, and itâs not like you said her name or anything. People might think of someone else,â Paige said, trying to solidify what KK had said and calm the situation. The truth was, they all knew this was big. You were a rising star, with a massive fanbase, and InÈs was part of one of the most famous college basketball programs in the country. The media wouldnât let this slide by quietly.
"I need to talk to her," InÈs muttered, suddenly grabbing her phone. Her fingers were trembling as she pulled up your number and hit call. She could barely hold onto the phone, her hands shaking with guilt and fear.
The phone rang twice, and Ines held her breath.
"Hey, babe!" Your voice came through the line, bubbly and excited. "I just got off stage! How was practice?"
InÈs choked back a sob, barely able to get the words out. "I⊠I messed up. Iâm so sorry."
There was a pause on your end, the excitement in your voice dimming slightly. "Neshy, what happened? Youâre scaring me."
InÈs swallowed hard, forcing herself to explain, her voice cracking with each word. "KK was live on Tiktok, and I⊠I accidentally said we were dating. I didnât mean to and I didnât say your name! It just slipped out, and now everyone knows, and we were supposed to wait, and Iâm so sorry. I ruined everything, Iâ"
"InÈs, baby," you interrupted gently, your voice calm. "Breathe."
"IâI just⊠I messed up. I didnât mean to put us like that. I know how important this tour is for you, and now everythingâs going to blow up andâ"
"Babe, slow down," you said, your tone soothing. "Itâs okay. Itâs really okay."
Ines stopped pacing, her tears still falling but her heart slowing as she heard the steady calmness in your voice. "But⊠we were supposed to wait."
"I know," you replied softly. "But listen, this doesnât change anything between us. Weâll figure it out together, okay? The only difference is that now, people know youâre dating someone. And honestly, if they know, they know. We were going to tell them eventually anyway."
"But⊠the timingâ"
"Iâd much rather they find out because you couldnât help but brag about me," you teased gently, a smile in your voice.
InÈs let out a shaky laugh, wiping at her eyes. "You were so amazing tonight, I couldnât help it."
"Thank you, baby," you said with affection. "Iâm glad you watched. And listen, weâll talk tomorrow about how to handle everything, okay? We can make an official announcement together if you want, or we can just let it be. Itâs up to us."
InÈs sniffled, the tension slowly easing out of her shoulders. "Youâre not mad?"
"Of course not," you reassured her. "I love you. Weâll figure this out, like we always do."
A soft smile spread across InÈsâ face, her heart swelling with love and relief. "I love you too. So much."
"Good. Now, get some rest, okay? Weâve got this."
As the call ended, she let out a long breath, feeling lighter. The panic had passed, replaced with the warmth of your love. The world might know now, but it didnât matter. What mattered was that you were in this together, ready to face whatever came nextâside by side.

some thoughts on spirits (DAV)
I feel like the game has done a good job making Rook feel like someone with natural leadership abilities. And while I do love the companions in the previous games, I feel like DAV's companions are my favorites (at least currently; entirely possible that a replay of the older games would make me feel different!).
I also really like the different dynamics between Rook and their companions. Just... idk good vibes.
Also, here is Rook being very relatable for me:
I am just really loving all the characters so much -- Lucanis stole my heart as my favorite (he's my 'personal demon' now in the character screen lol) but I'm very attached to all of my companions. I love how the game has made it easier to know when they have something new to say, and I like that they distinguish between 'conversations' and 'outings' in the companion quest section. I've really been enjoying getting to know them and I feel like this game has done a really good job appropriately gating dialogues and areas.
It feels like they found a good compromise between 'open world' and 'mission-based game'. Each of the areas feels really big but it's also gated in natural ways that get unlocked as the story goes on, so you can't bum-rush the Crossroads and do literally everything the first time you're there, for example. In DAI, I would sometimes have to impose my own pacing to make sure that things flowed well for me, and I haven't needed to do that with DAV.
One thing that leaving the Fereldan/Orlais area did is really let us get to know a lot of mages who don't have the same sense of shame and self-hate that mages are taught in the Chantry of southern Thedas (or the even more extreme way they are treated by the Qunari!). We got hints of this approach in earlier games, but getting to dive more in-depth into several cultures who do not have the same "let's toss all the mages into prison" approach to magic that southern Thedas has has been very illuminating! Obviously we've always had exceptions like the Dalish clans, but they were very much depicted as deliberately on the outskirts of society, and going against the Chantry-defined norm.
And to contrast, in DAV, I recently had a long conversation with Emmrich on the potential merits of lichdom! Basically an unthinkable conversation in either Ferelden or Orlais. Nevarra doesn't burn their dead and they don't have such a deep fear of the dead, demons, or magic itself. And it really just to illustrate how much the oppression of mages that was so much at display in the Circles is just... nonexistent in places like Nevarra. The oppression is cultural and it's religious -- it's not actually something that's necessary to 'keep magic in check'. (which, yeah, is obvious from the outside, but always nice to have reinforcement from the actual games!)
I'm also watching a let's play of DAI on the side and the person just got to Solas and Cole's personal quests and, yeah, they resonant so hard after the additional Solas revelations in DAV. And it really does feel so much like DAV is in a strong conversation with DAI (as makes sense). Solas and Varric are talking about Cole but Solas is also talking about himself.
Varric: "A spirit who is strangely like a person!"
Varric: "He came into this world to be a person. Let him be one."
Solas: "We cannot change our nature by wishing it." Varric: "You think?"
Solas: "You would alter the essence of what he is." Varric: "He did that to himself when he left the Fade."
[if Cole is made more spirit]
Varric: "...could have been a person." Solas: "Would that have made him happier?"
Is Solas's endgame becoming a spirit again? Or has he experienced and changed too much? (would it make him happier? is that a desirable goal?) Is it all a matter of perspective? Cole approves of the Inquisitor's choice whether they make him more of a spirit or more human. I feel like Solas would lose a lot of himself if he became a spirit again, but maybe that's a matter of perspective too.
And then Solas's DAI quest is all about dealing with the damage of a Wisdom Spirit being corrupted against its purpose -- the same kind of Spirit that Solas once was. Wisdom vs Pride (but once you're a person and not a spirit, you can be filled with both at the same time).
DAV is really making me want to do another run of DAI, and take Solas literally everywhere, lol. But the conversation about spirits in the 'real' world didn't start there either -- it started back in DAO, with Wynne. It continued in DA2, with Anders. Both DAO and DA2 are more 'standard' than what we get in DAI with Cole, in the sense that they were possessing a body (though with permission) but it's still part of the same conversation.
But the conversation really did explode into something bigger in DAI, with Cole as a spirit who was with us without possessing a body, and with learning that being briefly possessed can reverse Tranquility (via Cassandra's quest). And now, with what had been confirmed in DAV, we know that a spirit that takes mortal form can, over the generations, become mortal, as that's what the ancient elves did, so Cole could have kids who were fully mortal, maybe. And Cole did it without using lyrium (and thus taking something from the Titans to fuel himself) -- at least as far as I understand.
I am also finding myself very curious about where humans come from -- we know that the ancient elves were once spirits; we know that the dwarves are fragments of the Titans. Where did humans come from? Evolution? Or is there a magical answer for them too? Is the Maker a spirit and/or Titan who created humans specifically?
(I think it's implied that Qunari were genetically/magically engineered in some way, and possibly crossbred with dragons somehow?? iirc DAI correctly)
I'm really looking forward to removing my filters on DA-related stuff and reading other people's thoughts. I've covered my eyes and clicked on posts a couple of times so far and have been rewarded by mostly getting fanart and not spoilers, lol. Mostly.
I genuinely have zero critiques of the game so far, if anyone was wondering if I was just holding some back or whatever. I like the quality of life changes they made to a lot of little things like companion banter; I never had an issue with the art style*; and I'm enjoying the story and characters as they unfold.
(*I know that was a big thing with a lot of people but, confession time: I genuinely can barely tell a difference between DAI and DAV's 'art style'. You can change Qunari hairstyles separate from horns now in the character creator? People walk less awkwardly than in DAI? The menus are purple instead of green? idk, maybe my brain just doesn't register whatever it is that makes DAV so different, art-wise?)
I also love that I can literally just throw myself at boxes to break them open to get materials. It's so satisfying. I have a griffon that I can pet. idk, I guess I'm just a simple girl with simple desires. ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Looking forward to playing more this weekend!
Current progress note: a Dalish clan (at least one) has been kidnapped for potential blood sacrifices, so trying to rescue them is my next main quest. I'm about eighty hours into the game.

summary: clan leader!gojo needs a favor from your clan but as the leader you refuse, so he proposes to give you a child since your husband is unable to.
"and what am i to do when the child comes out with a white head of hair and blue eyes?"
âif that happensâŠâ he undoes the knot that holds your kimono together and pushes the material down your arms with no resistance from you, ââŠthen iâll kill your husband myself and marry you.â
nsfw ahead cw: historical au, infidelity, pregnancy, creampie, child birth, satoru is pathetically in love. featuring samurai bodyguard geto and toji.
âi thought we had solved all our business with the gojo clanâ your husband says from the door he leans on.
âand i didâ you emphasize the i since the head of your clan is you and only you went to the clan meetings that got things solved. you tapped your lips a little bit more to place the reddish pigment looking at the mirror, âbut satoru summoned this meeting and gave no details.â
âsatoru huh?â your husband points, not letting go unnoticed the fact you used his first name without formalities.
âall rightâ you take one step back checking if your kimono is proper, âsee you tonightâ you peck his lips lightly to not ruin the tint on yours and proceed to the carriage outside.
for years the gojo clan and yours avoided each other due to some very old beef that no one remembers or even was alive when it happened, so when your mother passed and you assumed as the new head you soon decided to reach out to make peace with the current head of the rival clan and a friendly relationship was restored. more often than not you two met, sometimes with other clan members or even other clans when necessary, but today gojo insisted on being just the two of you.
toji, your bodyguard, opens the carriage door when you arrive and give you his hand for you to step out.
to avoid any issues the place of the meeting was always the temple middle way your residences. from time to time your families attended the prayers there, thatâs when your husband saw satoru for the first time.
âwhereâs his wife?â he asked the first time you pointed the white-haired man as the clan head after you made peace.
âhe doesnât have one.â
âfiancĂ©e then?â
âi donât think soâ you both watched discreetly as he greeted the monks.
âi find that quite odd. what about the black-haired man?â he pointed to geto, gojoâs bodyguard, âcould they be involved romantically?â geto leaned to whisper something to his master, a little bit too close if you might add, a few more inches and his lips would be touching satoruâs ear. his romantic life was no business of yours but you didnât like the idea of him having any partners, didnât seem right, though deep down you knew it was very unlikely for a handsome man like him to be alone. both men somehow found your curious gaze.
âgetoâ you greet the known bodyguard as you enter the temple, and he bows to you, your bodyguard nods at him as well and youâre guided to the secret room.
the conversation went on for almost an hour, satoru served you tea when he noticed you finished yours, which was unusual for a clan head to do such a mundane task but he always insisted no servant join on your private meetings. you always thought he was particularly paranoid about spies, but that suspicion was dismissed when you had your first meeting with other clan heads and he didnât oppose the people that stayed in the back of the room waiting for their masterâs orders.
âsatoru we went over this on the last meeting, why am i here?â you are getting impatient, satoru always seemed relaxed when he was at the temple like itâs the one place people donât come to him with problems, so he tended to do things without any rush at all.
âso impatientâŠâ he smirks, âi was getting to the point but fine. i need your doctors for a few weeks.â
because of the many wars and the necessity to heal mainly the samurai your clan became specialized in healing techniques and remedies instead of combat.
âis someone injured?â you raised your eyebrow, it wasnât likely for satoru to ask for something like this when he couldâve sent a letter.
âno. but we are expecting a conflict soon andââ
âlet me stop you there satoruâ you raised your hand and for a second you saw a glimpse of annoyance cross his features, âwe donât get involved with battles anymore, the healers go through extensive training and i canât risk losing them in battle.â
âso instead of putting their knowledge into practice you rather keep them locked in a room reading books?â
âthey are busy with research at the momentâ you raise your chin unwilling to budge on the matter.
âis that so?â he tilted his head smiling âand how many people does it take to figure out your husband is infertile?â
you widened your eyes, this is way too personal of a matter for someone else, especially another clan head, to know.
on the other side of the door, geto and toji guarded the room, they were close enough to listen to the conversation and without turning his head geto looked at toji with his eyebrow raised, to which toji only nodded confirming the rumors.
âyouâre not the only one with little birds across territories, sweetheartâ his smile only seems to grow.
âthat is no business of yours. besides, lending you my healers will only harm my clan and, as i said, put them at unnecessary riskâ you managed to find your composure back and avoid the infertility topic.
âdonât you trust i have the best warriors? you seemed to when we came to your aidâ he reminded a time you asked for their men.
âi paid for that.â
âand what makes you think i wonât?â
âwe donât need money.â
âiâm not talking about moneyâ he drops the volume of his voice.
âlisten, satoruââ you rise to your feet sensing the tone of this conversation is off.
âiâm listening, for a very long time iâve been listeningâ he rises as well and takes a few steps in your direction, âyou know what i listen to? the rumors about your family threatening to make your brother head of the clan if you donât bear an heir soon.â
you take a step back.
âor the resources youâve been spending to research a treatment for your husband. tell me, darling, can he even get it up for you?â he is too close now, you can see all the details of his insanely blue eyes.
âheâ thatâs not a problemâ you accidentally confess.
âof course itâs not, look at youâ his finger brushes your cheek and the touch makes you burn under your skin, âi could give you a childâ he lowers his head to your ear, running his lips on it, âa healthy, smart, beautiful childâ he presses his hand on your belly over the thick material of your clothes, âand it wouldnât even be an effortâ he presses his hardened member on your hip.
âand what am i to do when the child comes out with a white head of hair and blue eyes?â you look into his eyes challenging him to a solution.
âif that happensâŠâ he undoes the knot that holds your kimono together and pushes the material down your arms with no resistance from you, ââŠiâll kill him myself and take his place as your husband.â
you gasp, not expecting such an answer from the man you always watched trying to find a way to avoid violence.
satoru kisses your jaw then your cheek and when he gets close to your lips you turn your head, your conscience only now, in this intimate act, attacking you.
âheâs not fulfilling his dutyâ he whispers, letting go of the knot on his kimono, taking your hand and putting it on his chest. you open your eyes, not even aware you had closed them, and see his sculpted torso, so close to you, so warmâŠ
âitâs not your fault, canât you see?â he raises your chin, âit wasnât meant to be, unlike usâ you know heâs just telling you what you want to hear, but in his voice everything made sense.
âyouâll seeâ he picks you up and lowers his body with you back to the mat in the middle of the room, his kimono is still around his arms while yours was forgotten somewhere else, leaving only the very thin, dress-like, white undergarment that pretty much showed everything.
satoru lowers his head to your chest, his tongue wetting your nipple over the material, âi bet youâll become even prettierâ he replaces your breast with his hand, big and hot, and goes to the other nipple, âwith your breasts heavy and a big bellyâ he sucks on you, hardly, you put your hand over your mouth.
satoru raises your legs over his shoulders, âyour feet will get tiredâ he kisses the inner thigh, âbut youâll still come and see meâ you thought it sounded like a question, it was a statement.
his head goes down, as he kisses your folds your back arches, he licks a stripe ending on your clit and flickering it.
satoru starts to lose himself, he gets too intoxicated by you, almost forgetting time is running against him here. he doesnât have much longer until your bodyguard gets suspicious and calls for you, and by the way your hand is tight against your mouth he doubts youâll be able to give a proper response.
he wants to make you cum before he shoots his load, suguruâs intel told him you asked one of the doctors if the woman needed to come to increase the chances. it doesnât take much medical knowledge to interpret that question.
you cum on his tongue pulling him out of his dreams where he imagined himself doing that every night after those boring fucking meetings he has to attend at every slight inconvenience in his clan.
âitâs gonna be okay, just relax for meâ he pushes his length slowly before you get the chance to see his size. you whisper his name behind your hand and he canât stand not seeing your whole face, so he takes your hand out of the way and kisses your wet lips pushing his tongue and swallowing your moans as he goes deeper and starts to pick a pace.
satoru holds back a curse, reminding himself heâs in a sacred place and although anyone would say thatâs ironic given what youâre doing in the temple he would argue thatâs even more sacred than what most people prayed for.
you start to feel his weight down on you as he trusts get sloppier, heâs still kissing you, holding your lips with his when he twitches and fills your insides, in your drunk mind you think itâs so much more than what youâre used to.
after he catches his breath he pushes himself up and out of you, you allow yourself to close your eyes for a brief moment but you open them wide again when satoru pushes his cum back into you with his finger, âkeep it deep and warm for me, yes?â
one hour later you pass through the door your bodyguard slides open for you to enter your chambers. on the way there you realized thereâs no chance he and geto didnât grasp on what was happening inside the room.
âtoji?â you call before he can close the door and go to his personal room, he stops, indicating he listens although he doesnât respond with the formality others usually do, âi trust you wonât share with anyone what happened todayâ you speak firmly looking the tall man behind you over your shoulder, his scar stretches slightly with his smirk, the man bows and closes the door.
they said it was a road accident, the horse got spooked and ran, by the time they found it there was no rider so they searched your husband and found his body down the mountain.
the ritual was long, you wore the traditional widow clothing, accepting the kind words of the clan members and the prayer of the monks. though you really were sad, all this pity was making you sicker thanâŠ
âat least you didnât have kids, no child deserves to grow up with a dead fatherâ an old lady says to comfort you while holding your hands.
âexcuse meâ you turn around walking slowly to not raise suspicions and as soon as it is just you on the other side of your home you bend your torso and throw up all youâve eaten before the funeral.
you cough and when a tissue enters your field of vision you immediately take it and clean your mouth.
you feel your stomach empty but the light volume below it reminds you of whose fault it is.
you raise with the tissue on your lips to say thank you and the sight of the white-haired man makes you choke.
âshh, itâs okay, iâm here as an ally, to give my condolences to a friend in griefâ thereâs absolutely no seriousness in his tone.
âwhat about the war?â you ask through heavy breathing.
âthat was childâs play, donât worry, your healers will return safe and sound in a few daysâ he puts his hand on your shoulder to calm you down, you do.
satoru takes a second to drop his sight to your belly, it has been a month since your last encounter, and by your sensitive stomach he knows that one time was enough for you to get pregnant.
âdo you think you can hide it for another month until the wedding? then when the child is born weâll just say it was a premature birthâ god, your former husbandâs body was barely cold and gojo is already planning the wedding and what to say about the baby.
âwhy now?â you look up at his mischievous eyes, he knows what youâre asking truly.
âi donât know what youâre talking about, it was an accident right?â he touches your face, brushing away a tear that came out, more of a natural body reaction of your gagging than a sadness reaction.
âsatoru, tell meâ you demanded.
âi just reflect a little you know? when i said i would kill him you never asked me not to. besides, i donât want another man to think they own whatâs mineâ his eyes are darker, you think heâs talking about the child in your womb but by the intensity of his gaze, you realize heâs talking about you. âif you need anything tell suguru, iâll have him staying in the village until we announce the wedding.â
âno, i have toji, donât want anyone suspecting getoâs intentionsâ you defend.
gojo doesnât seem to like it, but he doesnât argue either, âeither way, i want to see you. meet me at the temple in five days, weâll talk about the arrangementsâ he leans in and kisses your forehead before turning away and then back âi almost forgotâ he reaches for something inside his sleeve and pulls out a shiny golden bracelet with gems and puts it on your palm, you know you canât wear it now but god itâs gorgeous, âcame from the west especially for youâ he puts his hand on top of yours and leaves it there for a long moment as you look into each other's eyes. satoru is fighting the urge to kiss you, if someone catches you he canât say heâs comforting his recently widowed friend, so he forces himself to let go of you and go head back to his village.
the midwife instructs you to push harder as her helper dabs a wet cloth on your forehead. youâre squatting, on your knees giving your all to push the baby out.
finally one last push is all that it takes for the little one to come out, you want to lay down and close your eyes, but you need to see the baby first so you mumble something with your arms open, the midwife cleans babyâs face through crying and screaming.
âitâs a boyâ she whispers putting him in your arms. satoru enters when he hears the cries and kneels in front of you. behind him are both suguru and toji, who arenât allowed to enter but the men are also very eager to see the child they canât help but try to peek.
you balance the boy in your hold for a little bit till he stops crying and when he opens his eyes you see the blue sky.
âgive him to the father, weâre not overâ the midwife says.
âwhat?â you, satoru, toji and suguru ask. the last two get an angry look from the midwife and remove themselves from the scene.
âthe next one will come out soonâ she puts new towels below you.
âtwo children? at once?â you ask in disbelief then look at satoru who can only smile apologetically.
after god knows how long youâre finally allowed to rest as the babies were cleaned and fed. the second one was a girl, with identical blue eyes as her brother and father.
âi canât believe you put two kids in meâ satoru is outside the wooden tub, breaking all tradition by helping you bathe after the birth.
âcanât say iâm sorry for thatâ he rubs your shoulders, âyou were incredibleâ he confesses now that thereâs only the two of you. satoru refuses to even let your feet touch the floor, he takes you out of the tub once the water starts to cool down, placing you on a dry surface and getting on his knees to dry your feet, you reach out to touch his face.
âi love you, satoruâ you blurt, overwhelmed by your feelings for the man who was once your rival.
he looks up from his position, taking the hand on his face and kissing your palm, then your pulse, he kisses inch by inch of your arm until his lips are on yours, âi love you.â
"pay up, pretty boy" toji approaches geto.
"excuse me?" suguru looks up from the sword he's polishing now that gojo dismissed him for the rest of the night.
"i said it was gonna be a boy."
"yeah and then a girl came out right after so the bet was invalidated."
"there's no such a thing, the boy will inherit it all anyway" toji crosses his arms, geto laughs, fishing a coin from his pocket since he knows toji will say anything to win the bet.
"and what makes you say that? there's two clans and now two heirs" toji snatches the coin as soon as he sees the silver glow.
"that's just how it has ever been" he turns his back to geto who drives his attention back to his sword.
"things are changing old man.

#yeah like prev said the hamster wheel was buck's passivity in his relationships not like. having relationships at all lol#also maybe i am an outlier on this and/or i don't come from a background where weddings are usually a huge fancy deal#but the wedding invite didn't strike me as THAT ott#like he said - tommy already knows most of these people and given everything it felt to me a little bit like#'hey come be a part of this family that you feel like you missed out on'#and just - yeah. 'i like you and i want to get to know you and see if there's something there' is actually a really healthy approach#compared to his history of total passivity and/or treating any expression of romantic interest from anyone as a sign from the universe#both of them acknowledging that they DON'T know each other that well yet felt like a really pointed contrast to buck's#'she sees me' re: natalia after a single coffee date
kept tags via @glorious-spoon
I just want Buck to have a relationship which he doesnât rush into. Even if that isnât Eddie. Oliver said Buck will get of the hamster wheel. But yet here he is, rushing into something with someone who shows him any romantic interest. đ©
fair enough if thatâs how you see it, however I just donât agree with the criticism that the relationship feels rushed.
obviously buck takes a big swing, but itâs not âyou see me more than anyone else ever has, so come to my sisters weddingâ itâs âI donât know your coffee order yet, but I like you and Iâd like to find out, hereâs me proving Iâm ready for thatâ. Something I think buck did need to do after their first date.
and yeah itâs a little heightened for the sake of drama, but tbh this is much closer to what real relationships look like. Most people donât meet their partner via some epic 6yr+ long slow burn. They meet someone they like, who they start to get to know more and more until eventually they fall in love and build a life together.
Thatâs how dating works, itâs actually totally normal to be attracted to someone youâve only been on one date with, thatâs why you go on a second one.
#good post op!! YMMV but i didnât think the invitation was a big deal in terms of like. rushing relationships at all#and as impulsive and self centered as buck can be i Really don't think he'd ever invite tommy without checking with maddie and chimney#and i took the line where he says that maddie wants to meet tommy as confirmation that maddie okayed it.#idk. maybe it's just a personal thing but i didn't even blink when he said it and i was surprised that so many people were so against it#bc all i got from that scene was that buck is ready to publicly live his life as an out queer man.#as prev said....he's not going all 'she sees me' on tommy or claiming that he's the love of his life or anything like that#there's a HUGE difference between 'there's something different about her. i feel like she sees me for who i am and what i've been through'#and 'he's confident he's interesting he has a cleft.' the former is objectively insane after one date. the latter is normal crush behavior#n with tommy. he makes it very clear that he doesn't know what specifically he's ready for relationship-wise. just that he's happy to#take that first step...he just wants to dance with a guy that he really likes and he's confident enough in who he is to ask for it#and i thought that was a lovely moment of growth from him :)#buck#meta#does this fall under#911 discourse#idk#it's not meant to be discourse but just to be safe

logan masterlist | inbox | full masterlist
It had been a week since Logan woke up in his healed timeline.
For most people, the change would have been dramatic. But Logan was far unlike most people. The initial dreamlike state he was in when he first walked through the mansion- seeing the ghosts he had once known returned to the flesh, unscathed- quickly subsided. Logan had always been a man thrown onto a new path- how he lived life constantly changing to best fit his interests. Now, with his newfound peace he found the most complicated mission of all: what to do with the life he was now free to live?
Even before the sentinels, the battles, the wars- he had always been a man on the run. He was solo, strategic, concise. For a man who was gifted with infinite regeneration, he had solely concerned himself with staying alive. He ate for sustenance, sought shelter for safety, and nursed a bottle to find enough peace of mind to sleep at night.
The professor had once told him that for a person to reach self-actualization they first had to have all of their needs met. Logan had scoffed at the time, assuring the professor that he knew himself just fine. But now, with his problems so solved that they had ceased to ever exist, he wondered if maybe the professor was right.
Who was he? Where did he go from here?
The answer was found in the form of a scar on his hand.
"Well, everything seems to be just fine."
Logan scoffed at the blue man in front of him
"Well it's not." Logan said. "Check again."
Two days after he had come back, a large, circular scar had appeared on the palms of each of his hands. When they hadn't disappeared after two minutes, he rushed to the bathroom and nicked himself with his razor, watching as the wound healed with only blood dripping down his scruff as a remanent of it. Thirty minutes after that he found himself in the lab with Hank, Jean, and the Professor hypothesizing his miraculous marks.
"Logan, the tests came back clear." Jean assured him, leaning against the wall. "Maybe it's time to consider that it's something else."
Logan quirked his head towards her.
"I haven't had a scar in over two hundred years," he reminded her, his voice laced with irony. "I get not one, but two and you... what? Think it's a coincidence?"
Before Jean had a chance at rebuttal, the professor moved to face Logan.
"That's not what Jean's inferring, Logan." Charles reminded him. "We're simply asking that you consider other options. Less... dire options. It could, after all, be a good thing."
"Yeah?" Logan scoffed. "Like what?"
A silence hung in the air.
When Logan had first come to them with news of his scar, the thought had been on all three of their minds. Still, there were a plethora of things that could have caused that. Though, when the tests came back clear and his skin continued to heal from all sorts of abrasions, it felt as if there was only one answer for his seemingly magical scars.
However, none of them were keen on sharing this diagnosis with Logan. One wondered whether he'd handle the idea of his body failing him over fated love.
Hank was the first to speak up.
"Like a soulmate."
Oh that was rich, Logan thought.
Logan wasn't unfamiliar with the idea of soulmates.
Around the time that two fated lovers were destined to meet, there would be a sign for each of them. In some cases they were eyes changing colors, feeling the other's pain, finding their names everywhere they looked. In other cases they were new birthmarks, tattoos, scars.
In some way, the two were inextricably connected.
In his long life he had seen others experience it dozens if not hundreds of times. When the first thirty years of his life rolled around with no one, Logan accepted that he was one of the outliers. He considered it for the best and by now, with everything that he had gone through, the concept of soulmates almost seemed like an old wives' tale.
Logan glanced at their faces. When he realized they were serious, a deep laugh escaped from his gut. There was a lack of light in his eyes that admitted his insincerity.
"So I disappear for a few decades and you all start believing in fairytales?" Logan pulled the needles from his arm, the heart rate monitor going flat as he did. "What a bunch of bullshit."
Jean laid her hand against his chest, urging him back into the seat.
"Logan." She soothed him. "This is a good thing. Scott and I-"
Oh this was real rich.
"Scott and you are... what, huh?" Logan urged. "Soulmates?"
Logan scoffed, swiping Jean's hand from his chest.
"Bet you're so happy with your 'soulmate' and that's why you lead me on, huh? That it? You're happy?" He taunted, a dark laugh escaping him once more. "Spare me-"
"Logan, that's enough!"
The professor's voice echoed against the linoleum walls of the lab, reverberating off of the medical equipment throughout.
"If you want to wallow in your own self-deprivation, be my guest, but spare the rest of us your grief." Charles continued. "I think it would be best if you go back to your quarters and consider the future the universe has offered you."
The energy in the air was thick.
Jean and Hank avoided Loganâs eye contact while the professorâs nearly burned a whole through him.
Accepting defeat, Logan threw his hands up in the air and pushed himself out of his metal chair.
âFine.â
Soulmates. Logan thought. Who would believe in a thing like that?
-
"It's a pleasure to see you again."
The atmosphere in the mansion was a stark contrast to the lab Charles had been in days before.
Now the school day had commenced: children skipping from class to class, students chatting with their friends in the hallway, teachers grabbing coffee between lessons. Amidst the organized chaos, Charles had arranged to meet you in the foyer: the replacement history teacher for Logan's class.
"You too, professor." You smiled, reaching out your hand. "I was so glad to hear from you."
Your hand hung in the air briefly, awaiting his return. Charles examined it for a moment- a twinkle in his eye- before taking it. His thumbs brushed against the newfound scars between your knuckles as he did.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't always have these scars, did you, Y/n?" Charles asked.
You had not.
You had woken with them a few days before. Despite your powers rooted in chaos magic, it wasn't uncommon for blemishes or wounds to etch themselves into your skin. However, you often knew why. These marks, scars, were not faint, but instead quite profound. Three thick, healed over wounds patched together like a stitch on the back of each of your hands.
"No professor."
He closed his eyes, a soft smile gracing his lips. Though you knew he wished to ask more questions, the moment was broken by Logan.
"Ah, the man himself." Charles beamed. "Logan, I'd like you to meet Y/n. She'll be covering your class."
You had seen your fair share of news stories about the Wolverine. Who hadn't? Though the television had never prepared you for just how tall, or broad he was.
"It's nice to meet you, Logan."
"You too." He nodded, taking your hand.
His hand lingered in yours for a moment. Charles cleared his throat.
"We were just discussing the most peculiar scar on Y/n's hand." Charles said. "Appeared just a few days ago out of nowhere."
Charles nodded his head in the direction of your hand, leading Logan to squint. As if a light bulb had gone off over his head, Logan glanced between Charles and yourself and with your hand still in his, he turned it examine the back.
Three scars between your knuckles. Right where his own claws would be.
Though he liked to imagine himself as the patron of remaining suave, Logan's eyebrows shot up at the recognition. He traced his view from your hands, up your torso, to your face where you eyed him questioningly.
He thought back to the way that he woke up in the seventies, wrapped in the arms of another woman. If times had been different and Logan hadn't undergone all the so-called character development in the last forty years, he was sure that a face like yours would have gotten him in a lot of trouble. You were beautiful, and your demeanor highlighted your strength.
Your face radiated kindness, warmth and most of all, sincerity- a trait that was difficult to come by in a trade such as his.
But then Logan recalled that this wasn't the seventies and you weren't at some bar leading him on the entire night: your hand was in his and, according to everyone else, he was yours.
The idea almost couldn't register in Logan's brain.
"Interesting, isn't it, Logan?" Charles asked, breaking the silence. "Almost identical to where your claws are, hmm?"
Oh the professor thought he was quite funny.
Logan pulled his hand back from your grasp and shook his head.
"Not that easy, Charles." Logan commented before turning to you, a spiteful tone in his voice. "See you around, bub."
Before you had the chance to open your mouth, you watched as Logan stomped down the nearest hallway, his boots squeaking against the floorboards as he did. His fists clenched and released at his sides as he disappeared from view.
His reaction had come so far from left field that if it hadn't given you whiplash, it would have hurt your ego. Instead you turned back to the professor.
"Was it something I said?" You asked.
The professor shook his head, patting your hand gently.
"Logan's quite a complicated man." He assured you. "I'm sure you'll come to know that more than the rest of us. Now, to your classroom..."
Glancing over your shoulder to the void-like hallway that Logan went down, you considered the professor's words.
-
A storm had taken over the mansion by nightfall.
As you padded down the wood panelled hallways, the lightbulbs shook in their glass with each thunder clap- wind swatting at the window panes every few seconds. The pitter patter of the raindrops, although harsh, was comforting. It was almost as if the mansion had been engulfed by the storm, trapping everyone inside, while consequently making the outside world feel a thousand miles away.
When you found Logan's door, tucked in at the end of the hallway, you knocked.
"Yep."
The weight of the door fell against the palm of your hands as you pushed it open.
Logan's room was dark. The only light in the space had been from the embers of the cigar that hung in his mouth, cradled between his thumb and forefinger. Despite the darkness, you could make out his figure sitting at his desk chair by the window, feet kicked up on the sill.
Logan only gave you a quick glance over his shoulder before turning back to the view.
"What d'you want?"
His voice was thick and rough around the edges.
"I came for your textbooks." You replied, tiptoeing against his floorboards. "The professor said you'd have them."
The hand of his that held the cigar waved around. Minuscule ashes fell to the floor as your eyes remained trained on the light and the faint glow of the moon that illuminated the side of his face.
"Be my guest," he said. "Donât have a clue where they are."
The professor had given you the lowdown when he saw your scars.
Charles told you that despite everything that you had learned- the history that you had known- the Wolverine you'd meet was not the same person. He was a man from a different time with far different, darker memories and enough baggage to weigh down dozens.
Amidst the silence, you cleared your throat.
"Must be hard to wake up in someone else's life."
By now you had reached his desk, your fingertips tracing the lines in the dark, lacquered wood.
You could smell him and the cigar from this distance- aftershave mixed with smoke.
"The professor tell you that?"
"Mhm."
The chair creaked as Logan flicked his hand towards the window, ushering you to come closer.
Watching your step in the dark, you maneuvered around the furniture and sat beside Logan on his desk- pushing loose papers to the side.
"He give you his whole spiel on soulmates too?" He asked, eyes trained on the rain outside.
Soulmates.
Now that was the last thing you expected to come from the Wolverine's mouth.
You'd heard of them more times than you could count. You once wondered whether every repetitive coincidence was a sign that your person was coming. But, when that never happened, you lost hope.
Who got to tell you who you belonged to anyway?
Leaning over, you gingerly took the cigar from his grasp and replaced it with your own fingers. Sitting back into the desk as lightening struck a tree in the distance, you took a puff.
"So that's what the scars on my hands were all about," You thought aloud.
The window fogged as you let the smoke leave from your mouth in a breathy sigh.
Logan tapped his fingers on his thighs, counting the seconds between a lightening strike and its consecutive rumble of thunder.
"Listen, I'm no prince charming if that's what you came here looking for."
Logan's chair creaked again as he leaned back in his seat. His arm draped against the desk as he met your gaze.
You chuckled and held out his cigar, offering it back to him.
"I came here looking for textbooks." You laughed. "You're the one who keeps talking about soulmates. I think you're more of a romantic than you let on.â
His fingers brushed against yours as he took the cigar back into his own hand. Another lightning strike met the ground in the distance, a clap of thunder following moments afterwards.
"You don't buy it?" Logan quirked his eyebrow. It was a teasing question, one he was curious to hear your answer to.
You shrugged.
"I don't think the universe gets to tell me who to love," you said. "If I fall in love with you it's because I love you, Logan. Not because some mark told me to. I just think of it as... a little shove in the right direction.â
The corner of his mouth quirked into a smile for the first time.
"A shove?"
"Like a... blind date." You finished. "Ever been on one of those?"
A congested laugh escaped him.
"Sweetheart, do I look like the type of guy to go on a blind date?"
You bit the inside of your cheek at the name.
Rolling your eyes, you swatted at his arm. You wouldn't admit how much it hurt your knuckles to do so. You'd have to make a mental note to remember his adamantium skeleton.
"Gosh, you're cocky!"
Logan shrugged, "You're the one who likes it apparently."
You felt yourself grow hot at his accusation.
Even though he had a mark signalling his future affection for you, you couldn't help but feel embarrassed by Logan's knowledge of yours. You felt like a child who's crush had just been exposed to the whole class. Was he noting ever glance that you gave him? The way you didn't move when his arm brushed against yours?
A brief pause hung in the air until another thunder clap reverberated against the walls.
"So what's your mark?" You asked.
Logan shoved the cigar into the corner of his mouth. The biting motion forced him to flex his jaw in a way that you would refuse to admit made you start to realize that maybe the universe was right.
And that maybe his cockiness was justified.
He laid out his hands for you. The room was still dark, making the ability to discern the details of his scar impossible. Taking Logan's hands in yours, you summoned your magic into your hands, watching as they glowed gold.
Logan had two large, circular scars imprinted into his palms. It was a clear indicator of your own magical power that surged from your hands.
It left a feeling you couldn't describe in your chest to know that someone else was marked for you. They were destined for you. To be with you. You had a future written together before the two of you had met. Even if he rejected you, there was a sign etched into his skin that bound the two of you together in some fateful way.
Gently, you traced your fingertips against the mark, feeling the warmth that radiated from his palms.
When your eyes flicked upwards, you noticed how close the two of you were now sitting. You could feel his warm breath against your lips as the lingering smell of the cigar drifted up your nose.
Although he wouldnât admit it, Logan was enchanted by the energy radiating from you. Whether people hated or loved him, his ability got a lot of talk. In his mind though, he would never be a hero. He was just some guy who got lucky.
You, though? He didnât need you to tell him that you were an Omega level mutant. Logan had heard about you from the professor: you could cast spells, read minds, reconfigure reality- to name a few. You didn't need a reason to fight for what's right, you just did. Again, and again, and again. Even here, now, you were picking up Logan's history class when he knew very well you could be on the other side of the world sipping pina coladas if you wanted.
What the hell was the universe thinking putting you with him?
Logan admired the reflection of the magic on your cheeks and the way your eyes stayed trained on his palms. Your touch was so gentle he could have sworn he was in a distant dream until your eyes met his.
The two of you stared at each other for a moment, gaze locked.
Then another clap of thunder shook the mansion.
You quickly leaned back, pulling your hands from Logan's touch.
"I should... I should go." You said, pushing yourself off of Logan's desk. "It's getting late and I have my first class in the morning."
Logan leaned back in his seat. He said nothing but eyes remained fixed on your form as you made your way towards the door.
Looking back at him with your hand on the knob you made a mental note to remember the image of him with his feet kicked back on the window as he smoked his cigar.
A soft smile remained.
"Good night, Logan."
When you didn't leave immediately, he nodded.
"Night, sweetheart."
Mustering up the courage to shoot him one last smile, you pulled open the door and stepped outside.
Now, Logan didn't know how much he believed in soulmates, but he could be inclined to consider that it was one good wingman.
Leaning back in his seat, Logan sighed and closed his eyes, letting himself drown out his worries with the sound of the rain.

âi was able to talk to the brass about getting the week off. the past few weeks have been tough and i think we all need a well deserved break.â
you were all gathered in the round table room for a meeting emily called. in the past two weeks, the team had been assigned three back to back cases; which meant three different unsubs, three different cities, and three different hotel rooms. you hadnât slept in your own bed in fifteen days, already feeling giddy at the thought of snuggling up in your bed, binge watching mindless reality tv, and fueling yourself with nothing but sweet treats.
matt was the first to speak, already standing up gathering his things from the table, âas much as i love you all iâm going to rush home to the wife and kids, i miss their little facesâ
you all followed suit, collecting all of your belongings and saying your goodbyes, all of you raving about your week off plans. you walked to your desk, grabbing your bag and keys. you walked towards the elevator, pressing the down button, watching it slowly fall from floor 10 to floor 9, before tapping your foot, slightly agitated about how long it seemed to be taking.
you heard footsteps heading your way, small taps on sneakers on the slick marble floor, before felt a slight nudge at your side âyou know, being mad at it wonât make it work any fasterâ
you chuckle looking up, making eye contact with spencer before giving him a small grin. âiâm just really ready to get home.â
the elevator doors open, spencer waved his hand up, allowing you to go first, before following you in and pressing the main lobby button. âyou in such a rush because you have a hot date to get to?â
you looked up at him and grinned, you felt spencerâs hand move to your back, rubbing the center in small circles with your thumb. you felt your face get hot and you allowed yourself to slightly lean into his touch. the elevator stopped at the lobby, a small chime signaling the doors opening, and you felt spencerâs hand fall back to his side before you both stepped out of the box.
you both made your way to the parking garage, spencer walking you to your car before he headed towards the station to take the subway. you got to your car, unlocking it and throwing your purse inside before looking up at him with a slight smirk âtext me when youâre on your wayâ
he shook his head and laughed as he gave you a small wave goodbye and headed towards the subway.
~~~
it had only been three days since you were given the week off, enjoying the company of spencer in your bed two thirds of those nights. he texted you the same night as the encounter in the parking garage, eager to see you in a private setting.
âlook how pretty you look sitting on my cockâ
you were straddling him, your head thrown back with both hands on his shoulders as you tried to keep a quick pace. he had his hands pressed deep into your hips, helping you move in a fluid motion. you felt him hit your sweet spot every time you made your way down, letting out tiny whimpers at the feeling.
âi love when you use me like this, getting yourself off like a good girlâ
you couldnât hold in the loud moan you had been holding, feeling your stomach flutter at his words. you felt a slight burning in your thighs and you knew spencerâs shoulders held tiny crescent shapes from how tight your grip had become. you felt one of spencerâs hands move to your clit, rubbing small circles on the bundle of nerves.
he grabbed your chin, making you look him in the eyes. you looked at him and grinned, fucked out and eager before you felt a sudden surge against your cheek before he let his hand rest there, rubbing his thumb to ease the pain.
âyou gonna cum for me angel?â
âfuck- yes spence, iâm so- so closeâ you couldnât even hear the words coming out of your mouth, your heartbeat beating so loud your hearing going out.
you moved your head down pushing your forehead to spencerâs with your eyes tight.
âcum for me baby, wanna feel you tighten around my cock.â
you felt that tight feeling in your stomach, the mix of his skilled fingers and his thick cock rubbing against your walls caused your breath to stop in your throat, your release making you see stars. you stopped your movement, breathing heavily as you leaned down into spencer. you felt soft kisses on your head and face, peppering you all over.
âdid so good for me baby, love watching you use meâ
you smiled against his neck, starting to do your own kissing. you felt his breath hitch when you found the sweet spot behind his ear, the small mole behind it always guiding you to the exact spot. you took your time, sucking and biting at the spot, grinding your hips, ready to keep going.
spencer gave your thigh a quick tap, before telling you to bend over. you were quick to roll over, propping yourself up on your hands and knees before slowly wiggling yourself back and forth to him.
you felt a sharp pain on your ass, a slight stinging feeling before you felt a tight grip run through your hair. you felt your body being pulled tightly to his, his chest flushed against your back. he moved one of his hands to your chest, a his fingers glazing your nipple, his other moving to your neck, pushing his thumb and middle finger to just the right spot to apply pressure.
âi let you use me, now itâs my turn to use you angelâ spencer had leaned down to your ear, kissing your jaw before pushing you back down onto the bed.
spencer leaned down slightly, gripping your ass with both hands before spreading them. he let a trail of spit fall to your eager hole, before he rubbed it onto your pussy, giving your clit extra attention.
you moaned and pushed back into his touch before you felt him enter you quick and unforgiving, your ass jiggling with every move of his hips.
âfuck- so fucking deepâ you arched your back, begging your body to somehow take him deeper. you felt his firm calloused hands rub against your back before settling into a position on your hips, his thumbs pressing small bruises into your skin.
âtaking me so fuck-â
spencerâs voice was cut off by his phone ringing, vibrating on the nightstand beside you, and you felt his hips slow down, letting out a soft sigh as he was considering stopping completely.
you felt him hesitate but needed him to keep going, pushing your hips back into his trying to keep both of your focus.
âspence, please donât stopâ your voice still unsteady, âjust ignore itâ
spencer pulled out of you, and you let out a whine as the loss of contact. you rolled yourself over, making yourself comfortable on the pillows expecting him to walk away to return the call.
instead he leaned back over you and pulled you into a deep kiss, holding your face in both hands. your lips parting slightly when you felt his tongue lick your bottom lip, allowing your tongues to meet.
spencer grabbed his dick, rubbing over your clit before he lined himself up with you, gasping when he pushed himself in.
âyouâre so fucking perfect angelâ
he pulled away, lifting your legs up to your shoulders and latching his hands to your thighs. he found himself moving slow and deep, like he was trying to memorize the way you felt around him.
you moved your hands to play with your nipples, rolling the hard buds between your finger tips. he bent down, pushing his weight into you, almost like he was folding you. he pooled spit into his mouth before he let it go to your clit, moving his hand to the bundle of nerves.
âwant you to cum again for me pretty girl, want one more before i fill you upâ
you let out a moan, sighing before you went to speak âgonna fill me-â
you were cut off by the phone ringing again, the buzzing sound making you forget your thoughts. spencer dropped your thighs and leaned over before giving you a quick kiss before he reached over to grab phone.
âspencer do not answer thatâ
he moved his finger to his lips, making a shushing motion âitâs emilyâ
you rolled your eyes, ready to kick him out and finish yourself off before heading to bed when you felt him move again. he moved his hand to cover your mouth before answering the phone.
âdoctor reidâ
you felt yourself get wetter, the sound of your slick filling the room, your moan mumbled behind his hand. spencerâs motion was relentless, his pace quick and brutal, jabbing your sweet spot with every push.
âi thought we were getting the week offâ
your leg was lifted up, making the angle even deeper and you felt your eyes roll back, out of pleasure or annoyance you couldnât tell. there was no way you were getting called in.
âi can get a hold of her for you, i remember her mentioning something about having a date this weekâ
you grinned, giggling behind his hand before spencer moved the phone to hold it on his shoulder, letting his now free hand to move back down. he never took his eyes off you, holding a shit eating grin as he felt you squeezing him tighter, squirming at how close you were. you furrowed your brows and pinched your eyes shut.
âiâll be there in an hourâ
you heard the phone beep, signaling the call was disconnected. spencer moved his hand away from your mouth down to your neck, cursing as he heard you gasp.
âdid so good for me pretty girlâ
his hips stopped deep inside you as you felt his cock twitch, filling you up. he groaned as he felt you cumming again, keeping his thumb in place to help your orgasm finish and you let a loud moan out in response. spencer gave you a long kiss, nipping at your bottom lip before he trailed his lips down your neck. he pulled himself out of you, grinning at the soft sigh you let out. he kept his lips on your body, trailing them down your stomach before reaching your thighs and nipping at the sensitive skin.
he moved his tongue and licked a long strip up your pussy, sucking on your clit before pulling up to look at you, shit eating grin on his face. âweâve got roughly 30 minutes, thatâs enough time for me to help you clean up, right angel?â
I NEED waitress!reader accidentally letting it slip that sheâs got a date after her shift and so when bartender!simon overhears, he suddenly has a list of things she needs to do after work, causing her get to stay late ))): missing her date ))):
ANGST TIME
He's been watching you like a hawk for the past two hours - and rightfully so. You've been rushing through your tasks, rolling more than enough silverware, keeping your tables happy and stocked - you somehow managed to convince Soap to mop front of house for you. He doesn't like it. Why are you trying to get away?
"Got a date tonight." You tell him, skimming through your receipts as you sit at the bar and calculate your tips. You're not off the clock yet - you still have thirty minutes left. But the restaurant's empty, and all your tasks are done. Your makeup is a little nicer today, softer and less "morning after a deftones concert".
Simon's thankful for the mask, or else his frown would be impossible to miss. Is he dumb? Haven't you been flirting with him all week? Was this another one of your games, pretending to act innocent and coy, messing with him, then announcing you're going out with someone else?!
He feels his shoulders tensing as he watches you tap away at your phone's calculator. He shouldn't be so bothered by this - some things just need to be let go. But he can't. He wants to keep you in his back pocket, or in an empty whiskey bottle on his liquor shelf - not the one behind the bar, but the personal collection in his room on the third floor.
"That's nice," he grumbles, slicing through a lime. "Jus' make sure you finish your chores 'fore you head out."
"Already did!" You chirp at him with a smile. "Just need to do my tips, and I'll be done."
"Did ya clean the ice bins?" He asks.
You furrow your brow. "Huh?"
He jerks his head to the whiteboard on the wine fridge - sure enough, your name is scribbled in, right next to "drain and wash/sanitize ice bins + buckets", along with today's date.
You look back at Simon, your expression now crestfallen. Your date is in an hour, and you still have twenty minutes on your shift. "Don't you usually do it?"
Truthfully, he does. He could do it today, in fact. But his brain is acting on thoughts before he has the chance to consider the consequences. "Can't today, luv. Preppin' for a bigger crowd tomorrow."
Your shoulders slump. "How long does it take?"
"Well, you got to turn 'em off - one by one, I can't have two empty ice bins durin' a shift - then ya dump the ice, wait for 'em to warm up, then ya go in there with soap n' a rag, rinse 'em out, then-"
"God, can this please wait until tomorrow? I'll come in early and do it, I promise."
He looks at you sternly, and you suddenly feel ashamed for asking. "Wot, so I can pay you overtime?"
"Simon, please - if you do them, I'll give you half my tips for today."
"Now y' dumpin' your work on me?"
"I've got a date!"
"I've got my own shit too!"
You snap your mouth shut. He's never been this stern with you, but you know it's well deserved. It's your chore, after all. You'd been wrong to assume he would do it himself, despite that being the usual. You quickly hop out of the barstool and make your way behind the bar, unplugging the first icebin.
Simon watches as you scurry around, running to and from the ice bin into the kitchen, filling up bucket after bucket of ice and dumping it into the sink in the back. You pace as the machine warms up, glancing at your phone every few minutes, then touching the inside of the ice maker to check the temperature. After a few minutes, you're scrubbing the machine as fast as you can with a soapy rag and a bucket of sanitizer eater next to you.
Twenty minutes have gone by. You're supposed to be on your way to your date, but you're biting your lip, staring angrily at the ice machine as it cools down again. You need to wait for it to be cold before you refill it with ice, and only then can you start on the other machine.
You make another attempt towards Simon. "If I just do one tonight and do the other in the morning-"
"No." Simon snaps, his eyes angry as he drops a container of sliced fruit onto the bar. "This is part of havin' a job."
You look away from him, tears stinging your eyes now. You're so frustrated you want to snap back at him - but he's right, isn't he? Maybe you could ask him if you could just call Max and let him know you'll be running late - but the thought of asking Simon for anything right now (other than more chores) makes you queasy.
Simon doesn't know where the anger came from, but it's still simmering. He watches as you continue to run back and forth, filling up the old ice bin, unplugging the second one, dumping the ice in the back... he's refilling the bloody Mary mix and restocking the bitters. Simple things. He's got nothing to do after this besides go up to his flat and sit in front of the telly, or maybe chat with Soap before he heads home. Why didn't he just do it? Because you had a date, and that was a problem for him. Why? Now you're upset, and it's that knowledge that makes him finally feel the shame that he'd been swallowing down.
You finish dumping the last bucket of ice into the second machine. It's forty minutes after your shift ended. You still have to get to the restaurant you and Max were meeting at, which is a twenty minute walk. You were supposed to be there ten minutes early - now you're going to be an hour late. Frustration mingles with anxiety and burns in the forefront of your mind. But you can't be mad. You should've done your job.
Simon doesn't say anything when you run to the back, your phone pressed to your ear and tears in your eyes. You barely manage a wave to Soap as you grab your bag and jacket and flounder back into the restaraunt. You don't look at Simon.
"I'm leaving now, I'm so sorry- I had to finish up at work and it too longer than I-" you slowed to a walk, then a stop, standing in the middle of the floor. Simon was frozen, watching your shoulders shake.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had-... it's not an excuse, I promise I'm-... listen, we can go for a walk or something, right? Or go get fast food, someplace still open, just you and me, and we can try again another-"
His eyes burn in his skull as he watches you stand there for a few more seconds, staring at your phone as the call disappears from the screen. He wants to say something - but what can he say? He's already fucked you over. And he doesn't feel any better than when he first discovered your little date. He feels worse.
You stuff your phone in your back pocket, unable to hide the single, choked sob that escapes your throat. You shoulder your bag and stomp your way out of the restaurant, door clanging behind you. Your bike is still in the alley out back, and your unfinished tips are still on the bartop. He wouldn't be surprised if you never come back to collect them.
Soap emerges from the kitchen breaking Simon from his thoughts and wiping his hands on a rag. "Real feckin' kind of ye, Ghost. Never seen such a right cunt." He glares at Simon, before slapping the rag on the table and heading back into the kitchen. His shift was over, too.
Simon has three more hours left to deal with himself before the bar closes.
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who gets so flustered by you before you start dating. Even just the little things, like you bringing him coffee of breakfast on your way in to work has him thinking about you. He didn't even have to ask.
"You really didn't need to bring me anything. Tell me how much I owe you and I'll add it to your next check."
He stops you with the slight raising of his hand before you even have the chance to protest.
"I mean it. I have more than enough money to spare."
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who almost feels perverted when he asks you out for coffee before work. But the way your eyes light up aa you nod makes him forget all about it and instead focus on just how interesting your personality is.
"There's uh... There's this café I stop at in the mornings before I come in to work. You should stop by some time. My treat."
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who gets hounded by the press as soon as they find out about your relationship. But as much as they call him 'old' and 'creepy,' you know that they don't understand. Besides, there isn't that much of an age gap between the two of you, anyway.
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who makes you realize just how shitty other guys had treated you in the past. He was utterly shocked when you tried to pull out your wallet to oay on your first official date.
"You seriously think I'm letting you pay?" He asked after his initial moment of shock. "Darling-" he take one of your hands in his across the dinner table and presses a feather-light kiss to it. "You never have to pay when you're with me."
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who is slowly gaining a dadbod, and it's the sexiest thing you've ever seen. Of course, he's still in peak physical condition, but his age is slowly catching up to him as he reaches his mid-fifties: the sparsely scattered greys in his hair and stubble are just further proof of that.
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who hasn't lost his game in the bedroom and makes you feel things other men couldn't even imagine. He just keeps pulling orgasm after orgasm out of you and hasn't even thought about relieving himself.
"Just one more on my fingers, beautiful girl..." He whispers as his thumb rubs worshiping, languid circles onto your clit. "You can do that for me, can't you?"
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who takes things so much slower than he did in his younger years. He didn't just fuck or have sex, he made love to you, and god, did he do it well.
"I love you." He whispers for what feels like the hundredth time with his face buried into your neck and shoulder, eyes screwed shut in utter ecstasy. His thrusts are slow and rhythmatic, lacking the frenzied rush many of his past lovers experienced in turn for the utter adoration and care he felt for you.
OlderBF! Bruce Wayne who loves you with everything he is and will do anything in his power to keep the darker parts of his life hidden away, even if it means lying to you.
Trash Novel Chronicles: Please Let Me Live - Vil Schoenheit x reader
You get isekai'd into the worst novel you've had the misfortune of reading because apparently your life is a cosmic joke. Now all you have to do is not act like the character you've possessed and it'll be fine, you think? Your fiancé being Vil Schoenheit makes it a little harder to behave like a human being with functional braincells, but hey, atleast he likes you, you think?
Series Masterlist
You'd avoided it for so long. For months, your best friend had been pestering you to read the shoujo isekai novel of the year. According to them, it was the epitome of romantic drama, the kind that would "turn your heart into a mess of feelings" and "change your life." So, finally, after a particularly grueling week, your willpower hit rock bottom. You caved. You bought it, poured yourself a drink, and figured, "How bad can it be?"
Turns out, really bad.
Youâd barely made it past the first few chapters before your brain began to leak out of your ears. Every overused villainess plot point imaginable was crammed into the story like a contest of "how much nonsense can we fit in here before the reader gives up?" The evil fiancĂ©e everyone inexplicably hated? Check. The perfect cinnamon roll male lead everyone adored even though he had the personality of wet cardboard? Double check. The heroine who was so pure that even her sneeze would be enough to unite warring nations who also happens to be the saintess? You had to put the book down and take a moment when she gave a speech about friendship that was so saccharine, your teeth hurt.
Grumbling and filled with regret, you got up to refill your drink⊠only to slip on bubble wrap you swore yesterday that you were going to pick up later, fall face-first into the kitchen counter, and began to bleed out.
It was a comically stupid way to die. You knew that as you lay there, watching the light fade from your vision, your last thoughts being, This is the dumbest thing thatâs ever happened to me.
And then, darkness.
You woke up with a groan, your head pounding. As your vision cleared, you noticed you were lying in a very, very fancy bed. Silk sheets, gold trimming on the canopy, the works. And you were dressed in something frilly, layered, and far too complicated for someone who just woke up from a near-death experience.
"What theâŠ"
You sat up, rubbing your eyes, only to freeze as the realization hit you. This was not your bed. This was not your apartment. This wasâŠÂ Oh god, no.
You whipped your head around the lavish room, recognizing it from the novel youâd been hate-reading just last night. The massive mirror above the dresser, the tapestry with an overly detailed family crest, the obnoxiously large bouquet of roses that smelled way too sweet.
Youâre in the book.
Panicking, you scrambled out of bed and rushed to the full-length mirror by the wall. The reflection staring back at you was not your own. Instead, you saw an unfamiliar faceâher face. The one mentioned once, maybe twice, in the whole novel before being discarded like an old shoe: the betrothed of the villain.
The fiancée who dumps him for the male lead. The fiancée who gets themselves killed in the process.
âOh, come on!â you groaned, slapping your forehead. âIâm the villainâs betrothed? Iâm that idiot who leaves Vil Schoenheit because I fall for the human incarnation of a sugar cube?â
But there was no escaping it. You were now stuck in the body of a side character so irrelevant that even her death was treated as an afterthought. The one who leaves her handsome, ambitious, gorgeous fiancé for⊠Neige.
No. No, no, no. You were not about to die over a soggy cinnamon roll.
Determined to change your fate, you gathered your wits and opened the door to leave the room. But of course, you ran headlong into a tall figure, knocking you both back.
âOof! Careful there!â a smooth, yet stern voice said. You looked upâand froze. Standing before you, looking like something straight out of a high-fashion magazine, was Vil Schoenheit. The man whose heart you were supposed to break, the villain who would later descend into madness after you ditch him.
And wow. In person, he was even more stunning than the novel had described. His golden-blond hair shimmered in the sunlight pouring through the window, his purple eyes were as sharp as they were beautiful, and his posture screamed confidence.
You blinked up at him, utterly dumbfounded. Youâre supposed to leave him? For Neige? You nearly gagged at the thought.
Vil raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by your wide-eyed staring. âIs something the matter?â
You gulped. Right. You were supposed to be cold and dismissive toward him, werenât you? But how? This man looked like he could make the heavens weep with his beauty. How had your character ever even considered leaving him?
âNo, nothingâs the matter!â you blurted out, a little too enthusiastically. âActually, everythingâs great! You look fantastic! I mean, not that you donât always look fantasticâbecause you doâbut, you know, extra fantastic today!â
Vilâs eyes narrowed. âYouâre acting strange.â
Abort. Abort!
You quickly cleared your throat. âUh, Iâve just been⊠thinking. About us.â
His gaze became sharper. âAbout us?â
You nodded, plastering on your most sincere smile. âYes! Iâve realized⊠I havenât been very, uh, appreciative of you lately. And Iâm sorry for that. Really, I am. So from now on, Iâll be the most appreciative fiancĂ©e ever!â
Vil looked at you as though youâd just told him the sun was cold. He clearly didnât trust this sudden change in attitude. âWhat exactly brought this on?â he asked slowly, suspiciously.
Time for Plan B. âOh, you know, just⊠reflection! Self-improvement! I thought, âWhy would I ever look anywhere else when Iâve got someone like *you* right in front of me?â Youâre⊠amazing, really.â You cringed internally at how corny that sounded, but Vil didnât seem entirely put off.
âHm,â was all he said, but his piercing gaze stayed locked on you, watching for any sign of deceit.
You were sweating bullets, but at least he wasnât storming off. Yet.
You knew from the moment you read the back cover that this novel was going to be a dumpster fire of clichés, but you were not prepared for the sheer chaos of it all.
So, first off, we have the heroineâthe Saintessâwho has somehow never faced a single hardship in her life, despite the fact that sheâs supposed to be the kingdomâs beacon of virtue and a symbol of overcoming hardship. Sheâs engaged to the crown prince, who conveniently disappears on a diplomatic mission and dies offscreen, probably to make room for her new love interest, Neige LeBlanche. Neige. That sparkly ray of sunshine who is so perfect and pure that you feel like you need sunglasses whenever his name is mentioned. Because apparently, whatâs more romantic than falling for a guy immediately after your fiancĂ© kicks the bucket?
Then thereâs the second male lead, the brooding Duke of the North, who checks all the boxes: tall, brooding, handsome, tragic backstoryâyawn. Of course, heâs madly in love with the Saintess, and like any self-respecting second male lead in a trashy romance, he sacrifices himself for her later. Because nothing says âIâm irrelevantâ quite like noble self-sacrifice.
And don't even get started on the heroine's best friend. Sheâs basically there to fawn over the Saintess and then inexplicably fall for Vil, the Grand Duke, after she pressures him into apologizing for insulting the heroine's dress. Like, why? Was his dress critique that alluring?
Now, Vil Schoenheit. The Grand Duke. The guy youâre currently stuck with as your fiancĂ©. Heâs actually a decent characterâpowerful, intelligent, not falling over himself to worship the Saintess like everyone else. But in the novel, heâs wasted. Why? Because heâs engaged to the character youâre now possessingâMiss Mean and Coldâwho treats him like dirt because sheâs too busy fantasizing about Neige. You know, the guy she has no shot with because heâs destined to fall for the Saintess. Then, when your character eventually dumps Vil for Neige, she dies in a freak accident. Vil, who actually loved her (for reasons no one understands), is so heartbroken that he turns into the main villain.
Yes, thatâs rightâthis whole mess of a plot ends with Vil going full villain mode because the love of his life ditched him for the living embodiment of a childrenâs snowman and then died in a way that no one can explain. Cue the Saintess and Neige teaming up to defeat him and live happily ever after.
And thatâs the story. A tangled web of nonsensical relationships, conveniently dead characters, and more emotional whiplash than you can handle. And the cherry on top? You're stuck in it, watching everything unfold firsthand. It's honestly a wonder the book didnât end up as kindling.
A few days passed, and somehow, miraculously, you managed to keep up the act. Every morning you would wake up, still half-expecting to snap out of this bizarre isekai nightmare, but instead, you were met with Vilâs meticulous morning routine and the low hum of his voice offering helpful reminders about skincare.
And the more time you spent with him, the more baffled you became.
How the hell could the original character have messed this up?!
Sure, Vil was particularâokay, maybe borderline obsessiveâabout appearances. His lectures about proper sunscreen application could rival the length of the Odyssey. And yes, the daily inspections of your outfit choices felt a little like going through customs at a royal border.
But⊠he was kind? Like, actually caring?
Every meal was an event because he made sure you were eating properly and not just shoving random food into your mouth like the gremlin you clearly were before. He listened when you rambled about your day, offering advice with this gentle patience that honestly made you want to weep. How could anyone leave this?
You found yourself in front of a mirror one afternoon, pacing and gesturing wildly at your reflection, as if you could summon the spirit of the character youâd possessed. "What the actual hell was wrong with you?!" you hissed at the glass. âWhat kind of brain rot would make someone ditch a man like Vil?! Are you missing brain cells, or was your skull just a rental with nothing in it?!â
You paused, glaring at your reflection as if it could offer answers, but nope. It just stared back, helpless.
âLike, hello?!â you continued, throwing your hands up in exasperation. âYou had a golden opportunity here! Heâs literally gorgeous! Heâs got hair that looks like it was hand-spun by some ancient beauty god, his fashion sense could kill a lesser mortal, and heâ*gasp*âcares about your well-being?!â
You slapped your forehead dramatically. âHow did you mess this up? Were you allergic to good things? Did you wake up every day and choose to be a feral raccoon instead of, I donât know, appreciating this actual masterpiece of a human being? What, did you look at his perfect face and go, âNah, Iâd rather yeet myself into self-destruction?â Because clearly, thatâs what happened!â
Your reflection remained silent, offering no help, which only fueled your rant further.
âYou absolute donut! You ridiculous bottle of poorly mixed potion! Youââ You stopped mid-sentence, running out of sufficiently creative insults to throw at the former owner of this body. Because seriously, what kind of fool wouldâve thrown Vil away?
You gripped the sides of the vanity table, leaning forward, narrowing your eyes at your own reflection. "If I find out that you gave up on this because he once asked you to wear a face mask or told you to drink more water⊠I swear, I'm going to find a way to repossess you just to kill you again for making me deal with this."
A soft knock at the door startled you out of your self-directed tirade. You nearly jumped out of your skin, spinning around to see Vil standing in the doorway, one perfectly groomed eyebrow raised in amusement.
âTalking to yourself again?â he asked, his voice smooth but with a teasing edge. âYou know, thatâs usually a sign of stress. Perhaps we should revisit that meditation routine I mentioned.â
You stared at him, wide-eyed and speechless, wondering how much heâd overheard. But then you caught sight of that soft smile he reserved just for you, and your brain short-circuited all over again.
Right. The original character was definitely an idiot.
The first major hurdle hit you when you least expected it.
It all started with what should have been a calm afternoonâa brief moment of peace where you and Vil could actually spend time together, no schemes, no weird confrontations, just enjoying tea. You were finally getting comfortable with each other, slowly building the trust that had been so fragile at the start. Finally, you thought, things were moving smoothly.
Then the overused villainess trope decided to rear its ugly head.
Vil was talking about an upcoming event heâd be hosting, his voice calm, his usual stern features softened just slightly by the moment of peace. You were finally letting your guard down.
That was until the door creaked open and in waltzed the heroineâs best friend, a girl with wide, doe-like eyes and a penchant for stirring up unnecessary drama. Behind her, looming in the doorway, was the second male leadâyour eternal source of frustration from the novel. He was tall, brooding, and always, always popping up at the most inconvenient moments. A defeated looking Epel walked in behind them, with a look that screamed 'trust me I tried to stop them.'
âOh no,â you whispered under your breath, recognizing this scene before it could even play out. You knew what was coming, and you braced yourself for the utter absurdity of it.
Vilâs sharp gaze flicked from the two intruders back to you, his brows furrowing in mild irritation. âWhat is it now?â he muttered, already sensing the impending nonsense.
The heroineâs friend, ever the bringer of chaos, marched right up to your table with a dramatic flair that could only come from someone who believed they were the only purveyor of justice. âI canât stay quiet any longer!â she declared, pointing an accusatory finger in Vilâs direction. âVil, how could you treat the heroine this way?! Youâve been so cold, so distantâand itâs clear that you donât truly care for anyone but yourself!â
You blinked. Excuse me?
Vilâs lips pursed, the irritation growing on his face. âAnd what, pray tell, did I do?â
âYou know what you did!â she exclaimed, crossing her arms like sheâd just delivered the most damning statement in history. âYouâve been ignoring her, brushing her off, and acting like she doesnât even exist. Sheâs heartbroken because of you!â
You groaned internally. Oh no, this was that scene. The one where, because Vil once made an offhand comment about the heroineâs poor choice in dresses at a ball, suddenly he was painted as some cruel villain who was emotionally tormenting the delicate heroine. It was such an incredibly stupid misunderstanding that you distinctly remembered wanting to throw the book across the room when youâd first read it.
To make matters worse, the second male lead, standing silently but brooding in the doorway, was glowering at Vil like he was ready to challenge him to a duel at any moment. Because of a comment about a dress.
âAre you serious?â you blurted out, the frustration bubbling up before you could stop yourself.
The heroineâs friend gasped, her eyes wide. âExcuse me?!â
âLet me get this straight,â you said, rising from your seat with a groan, âyouâre upset because Vil, what, didnât shower her with praise at the last event? And now youâve decided to come in here, storming into our tea time, to complain about it?â
The second male leadâs brooding scowl deepened, his jaw tightening. âVil has been cruelââ
âAbout a dress.â You cut him off, waving your hand dismissively. âVil made one comment about her dress. Thatâs it. And now weâre doing this whole song and dance like heâs some kind of evil tyrant?â
The room was already tense, the heroineâs best friend visibly fuming, but you couldnât help it. The words just came out before you could stop them.
âAnd while weâre at it,â you said, your voice dripping with mock innocence, âletâs talk about that dress. You know, the one youâre all so upset about. I mean, Iâm no fashion expert, but who in their right mind thought wearing that shade of mustard-yellow was a good idea?â
The friendâs mouth fell open, but you werenât finished. âI mean, she walked into the ballroom looking like a sad banana trying to go to a high society function. I get itâsaintess and all thatâbut thereâs no reason to dress like the interior of an overripe cantaloupe.â
Vil made a choking sound next to you, and you dared to glance at him. His eyes were wide with shock, but there was an unmistakable glint of amusement. Oh, he wasnât pleased with the crudeness, but he definitely wasnât going to stop you either.
âAnd you,â you said, turning to the second male lead, who had been standing there like a silent, brooding statue, just staring at the two of you menacingly. âWhatâs your excuse? You came in here with all this brooding energy, acting like youâre about to duel someone over the fate of the heroine. But seriously, whatâs with your whole tragic hero act? Is your personality just permanent raincloud or do you practice that in the mirror?â
Vil covered his mouth with his hand, and you could see his shoulders shaking slightly. He was losing the battle to keep his composure, but he was tryingâfor dignityâs sake, of course.
Epel, on the other hand, had completely given up. The moment youâd said âsad banana,â he had fallen off his chair, doubled over in laughter, his face red as he clutched his sides. You werenât sure if it was your insults or the second male leadâs thunderstruck expression, but either way, Epel was in hysterics.
âIââ the heroineâs friend sputtered, but you interrupted her again.
âOh, and you.â You looked her up and down with a condescending smirk. âYou really want to talk about fashion? Because I donât know who told you that wearing ruffles with plaid was a look, but they were wrong. Youâre out here looking like you got lost in a fabric store and fell into the clearance bin.â
This time, Vil snorted. Actually snorted. The sound was so out of place that it almost derailed your tirade, but you powered through, buoyed by his reaction.
The second male lead looked like he was ready to explode, his aura now bordering on murderous. âYou canât justââ
âOh, canât I?â you shot back, crossing your arms. âBecause it seems like all of you came in here with the intent to stir up drama over something as trivial as a constructive remark. If youâre going to go to war over fashion, at least wear something that doesnât look like you picked it out with your eyes closed. Scratch that, I couldnât imagine picking that up even with my eyes closed.â
By now, Epel was rolling on the floor, laughing so hard he could barely breathe. âC-couldnât pick it out⊠with your eyes closed!â he wheezed, slapping his knee.
Vil, despite himself, let out a low giggle, shaking his head in disbelief. âWell,â he said, his voice steady but filled with mirth, âI suppose subtlety was never your strong suit.â
The heroineâs friend, now red-faced and flustered beyond belief, grabbed the second male lead by the arm and yanked him toward the door. âThis isnât over,â she spat, glaring at you. âWeâll see whoâs laughing when the heroineââ
âYeah, yeah,â you waved dismissively, âwhen the heroine what? Realizes sheâs been pining for someone who can't tell mustard from elegance? Trust me, Iâm not worried.â
With that, they both stormed out, slamming the door behind them in a huff of embarrassment and frustration. The second they were gone, you let out a breath and sank back into your chair, grinning at Vil, who was now openly smiling.
âYou really didnât hold back, did you?â Vil said, his amusement evident despite his usual calm demeanor. âI donât approve of suchâŠÂ crude insults, but I must admitââ his lips twitchedâ âit was rather effective.â
Epel, still recovering from his laughing fit, managed to haul himself back into his seat, wiping tears from his eyes. âThat was⊠that was the funniest thing Iâve ever seen,â he said between gasps for air. âI canât believe ya said that right to their faces!â
âGlad to be of service,â you said with a grin, though your heart was still pounding in your chest. You couldnât believe youâd actually said all of that out loud. But judging by Vilâs pleased expression and Epelâs ongoing laughter, it had been worth it.
Maybe surviving this trash novel wouldnât be so bad after all.
Youâd barely had time to process how bizarrely normal your life as the villainâs fiancĂ©e had become when the next absurd isekai plot point decided to rear its ugly, trope-filled head again.
It all started at yet another lavish tea party. Honestly, youâd begun to lose track of how many of these events you were forced to attend. They all blurred together into a haze of polite smiles, floral patterns, and far too much sugar.
This time, you were seated next to Vil, who, as always, looked like he had just stepped out of a renaissance painting. You, on the other hand, were trying not to spill tea on the new dress heâd insisted you wear. The dress itself was lovely, of courseâVil had impeccable tasteâbut the whole setting made you feel like you were constantly walking on eggshells. Especially since she was here. The heroine.
Today, though, you were determined to get through it without any drama. Just smile, nod, and let the heroine do her thing. Easy, right?
Wrong.
Everything had been going smoothly, too. The heroine, in all her sunshiney glory, was seated at the table, surrounded by her usual group of admirers. You had been doing a great job of fading into the background until someoneâthe hostess, perhaps?âbrought up your previous adventures.
âOh, didnât you once accompany the Grand Duke to deal with that bandit problem on the eastern border?â the hostess asked, fanning herself with interest. âWhat a thrilling ordeal!â
You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, feeling the weight of too many eyes on you. âWell, I wouldnât say thrilling exactlyâŠâ you began, trying to downplay it, but your nerves had other ideas. âI mean, the heroine here was probably off rescuing some poor lost puppy while I was just, you know, holding down the real danger.â
The air went cold.
The moment the words left your mouth, you froze. The table fell silent, save for the quiet clinking of teacups being set down. Every eye was on you. The heroineâs wide, eyes blinked at you, full of hurt and confusion. And across from you, the second male leadâMr. Tall, Dark, and Broodingâlooked like he was ready to leap across the table and strangle you on the spot.
Oh no. Oh no no no. Why did you leave your filter at home?
You opened your mouth to apologize, but before you could, the second male lead slammed his cup down on the table, the porcelain rattling ominously. âYou dare insult her honor?!â he roared, rising from his seat like some kind of vengeful storm cloud. âI will not stand for this!â
*Why did I say that?* You cringed internally, face turning a bright shade of crimson. "I-it was a jokeâ"
âNo,â he declared dramatically, pointing a finger at you. âI demand satisfaction! A duel for her honor!â
You were still too stunned to respond, your brain scrambling to make sense of the situation. A duel? Over this? All youâd implied was that the heroine wasnât exactly⊠battle-hardened. Surely that wasnât duel-worthy? This man was acting like youâd called his mother a turnip or something worse.
The heroine, ever the epitome of grace, tried to intervene. âThereâs no need forââ
But Mr. Broody wasnât having it. âNo! Her honor has been besmirched, and I shall defend it with my life!â
Vil, who had been watching this spectacle unfold with an expression of mild disgust, finally rose from his chair. His cool gaze swept over the table, landing on the second male lead with all the intensity of a snake about to strike.
âIf anyoneâs honor has been besmirched,â Vil said icily, âitâs mine. And I will not allow my betrothed to be disrespected by the likes of you.â
You blinked up at Vil, stunned. âWait, youâre going to duel him? Yourself?â
Vil turned his piercing gaze to you, and though his face remained calm, there was a glimmer of something softer in his eyes. âOf course,â he said. âI would never entrust such a matter to anyone else. BesidesâŠâ His lips curled into a smirk. âItâs been a while since Iâve put an upstart in his place.â
You gulped, suddenly feeling a bit light-headed. Was it getting hot in here?
The second male lead, apparently unaware of just how screwed he was, smirked triumphantly. âVery well! Letâs settle this once and for all.â
The duel was set for the next day in your estate gardens. You spent the time leading up to it pacing back and forth in your chambers, wringing your hands in nervous anticipation. Somewhere along the way, youâd decided that you needed to do somethingâanythingâto support Vil. So you had spent hours learning how to embroider a handkerchief, your fingers aching from the effort. By the time you finished, you were practically shaking, but you were proud of the result.
You didnât expect Vil to be touched, let alone notice that youâd worked so hard. But when you handed him the handkerchief just before the duel, his eyes widened in surprise.
âYou made this?â he asked, holding it delicately between his fingers, as if it were some priceless artifact.
You nodded sheepishly. âI figured, you know, for luck. Or to rub it in his face after you beat him. Whichever.â
Vil chuckled, his usually sharp expression softening. âThank you,â he said, his voice low. He then noticed the small needle marks on your hands and frowned. âYou hurt yourself.â
You quickly hid your hands behind your back. âItâs nothing! I mean, Iâm fine. Just a few pricks here and there.â
Vilâs expression softened even further, and for a moment, he looked almost⊠touched. He carefully tucked the handkerchief into his coat pocket, a small but genuine smile tugging at the corners of his lips. âIâll be sure to put this to good use.â
You didnât swoon. Well, maybe just a little.
The duel was, in a word, ridiculous.
The second male lead strutted around like a peacock, his sword gleaming in the afternoon sunlight as he swung it dramatically for the small crowd that had gathered. âPrepare yourself, Schoenheit!â he bellowed, pointing his sword at Vil.
Vil, on the other hand, looked utterly unimpressed. He barely glanced at the man before calmly removing his coat and handing it to you. âHold this, will you?â
You took the coat with a nod, trying not to pass out from how effortlessly graceful he looked even in the midst of preparing for a fight.
The second male lead lunged forward with all the finesse of a drunken ox, his sword clashing loudly against Vilâs. For a moment, it looked like a real duelâuntil Vil, with a single fluid motion, disarmed the man in one clean strike. The second male leadâs sword went flying, landing in the bushes several feet away with a pathetic thud.
The crowd gasped, and you had to stifle a laugh. It had barely been five seconds, and the duel was already over.
The second male lead stood there, stunned, his hand frozen mid-air where his sword had been. He blinked once, twice, then turned bright red with embarrassment. âW-what?!â
Vil, ever composed, didnât even break a sweat. He sheathed his sword and gave the man a cold, dismissive look. âThis duel is over. Consider your demand for satisfaction... fulfilled. Now, kindly leave before you embarrass yourself further.â
You bit your lip, trying not to giggle as the second male lead sputtered and tried to come up with an excuse, but it was clear to everyone that he had been utterly humiliated. Even the heroine, standing off to the side, looked like she was struggling to keep a straight face.
As the second male lead stumbled off, defeated, Vil turned to you and offered his hand. âShall we go?â
You took his hand, still trying to process how easily he had won. âYou were amazing,â you blurted out, your heart fluttering as you gazed up at him. âSeriously, that wasâŠÂ wow.â
Vil smirked, the corner of his mouth twitching with amusement. âOf course I was.â He then leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. âAnd I expect a proper reward later for defending your honor.â
Your face went beet red, and you were pretty sure youâd forgotten how to breathe.
Yep, you thought as he led you away, his hand still in yours, surviving this trash novel might not be so bad after all.
It happened at one of those overly extravagant banquets the royal court liked to throw. You spotted Neige from across the room, all bright eyes and an innocent smile. He was the epitome of purity, as if his very presence could summon woodland creatures to frolic at his feet.
And you hated him on sight.
You watched in disbelief as everyone around him melted into puddles of admiration. He was practically glowing, and his overly cheerful, squeaky voice was grating on your ears.
The overly saccharine male lead stood there, looking like a cross between a baby bunny and a sentient cupcake. Everything about him screamed "pure-hearted." You nearly gagged on your drink, hoping no one noticed your grimace.
Vil noticed your sour expression and leaned in. âIs something the matter?â
âThatâs him, isnât it?â you said through clenched teeth. âThe one I used to follow around?â
Vil followed your gaze, and for a moment, his lips twitched in the faintest show of amusement. âYes. Thatâs Neige.â
You snorted. "I can't believe anyone in their right mind would prefer him over you."
Vil's lips curled into a smirk, and he tilted his head slightly. âOh? Is that so?â His voice was silky, dangerously low, but you could see the flash of satisfaction behind his eyes.
âYeah,â you muttered, still glaring in Neige's direction. âI mean, look at him. Heâs so⊠good. And not in a âwow, what a decent personâ way. Itâs like heâs one bad haircut away from sprouting fairy wings and breaking into song.â
Vil let out a low chuckle, right next to you ear, (Lord, have mercy) the sound sending shivers down your spine. âI never thought Iâd hear you speak this way about him. Youâve been fawning over Neige for as long as I can remember.â
You rolled your eyes, throwing your hands up. âThat was the old me. The dumb me. I mean, have you seen you?â You gestured dramatically toward him. âHow could anyone even look at Neige when you exist?â
Vil was quiet for a moment, watching you intently. His violet eyes glinted with something unreadable, but you could tell he was pleased. Oh, he was very pleased.
âYou certainly have changed,â he murmured, the smirk never leaving his lips. âAnd I must admit, I find it rather⊠delightful.â
Before you could respond, a very familiar voice rang out from behind you. âAh! What a beautiful reunion this is! A moment filled with lâamour, sparkling like the stars in the sky!â
You nearly jumped out of your skin as Rook Hunt appeared seemingly out of thin air, his hands dramatically clasped together as he beamed at you both. âI have seen many couples in my lifetime, but none quite so radiant as you two.â
You blinked, trying to recover from his sudden appearance. âRook⊠were you just⊠hiding in the curtains again?â
Rook, ever the dramatist, placed a hand on his heart and smiled wistfully. âAh, but how could I stay away when the beauty of your love draws me in like a moth to a flame?â
Vil raised an eyebrow. âRook, youâre not helping.â
âNon, non, mon ami,â Rook insisted, twirling in place with a flourish. âI am merely basking in the glow of what is surely a love for the ages! The way your eyes meet, the subtle tension in the airâit is magnifique!â
You sighed, shaking your head, though you couldnât help but chuckle at Rookâs antics. Meanwhile, from the other side of the ballroom, Epel was watching the scene unfold with barely concealed amusement. He caught your eye and shot you a grin, raising his glass as if to say, Good luck with this.
But the fun wasnât over. Oh no. Neige, the human embodiment of a childrenâs choir, started making his way toward you. As he approached, his bright eyes locked on yours, his smile so innocent and wide that you almost felt bad for what you were about to do.
Almost.
âGood evening!â Neige greeted you, his voice as sweet as sugar. âI donât believe weâve had the chance to properly meet.â
You stared at him for a moment, unimpressed. âYeah, uh-huh.â
Neige blinked, clearly taken aback by your lack of enthusiasm. He probably wasnât used to people not immediately falling at his feet. âItâs truly wonderful to meet you! Iâve heard so much about you.â
You squinted at him. âMm-hmm.â
Vil, standing beside you, looked positively elated. You could practically feel the smug energy radiating off of him. He wasnât even hiding his smile anymore.
Neige continued, oblivious to your complete disinterest. âIâm so glad weâll have the chance to spend time together in the coming months! I hope we canââ
âYeah, no, Iâm good,â you interrupted, turning away and pointedly ignoring his very existence.
Neige blinked again, looking like a lost puppy. You almost felt a little bad. Almost.
Vil, on the other hand, looked like Christmas had come early. His arm slipped around your waist, his touch gentle. âI must say,â he murmured into your ear, his voice laced with amusement, âIâve never enjoyed one of these balls quite so much.â
Yup, maybe this novel isn't that trashy after all?
Everytime you think this novel might not be that bad, it manages to prove you wrong.
The day had finally arrived: the Founding Day Ball. The event to end all events, where the kingdomâs most distinguished were honored in a grand ceremony. And, of course, at the top of the list of honorees was Vil, who might as well have been carved into the actual history of the kingdom itself with how perfect he was.
As his partner for the evening, you were dressed to the nines, dripping in elegance you didnât even know you were capable of. When you caught your reflection in one of the massive ballroom mirrors, you had to do a double-take.
"Who is that?" you whispered, eyes wide. "Oh. Itâs me."
Honestly, if there was a chance of impressing anyone here, you were impressed with yourself.
The ceremony went as expected. Vil was awarded the highest honors, his name met with thunderous applause as he gave a speech that left the crowd swooning. You found yourself half-clapping, half-gawking, wondering how this man kept getting more perfect. Like, was he actually human?
But as the evening progressed, the dreaded scene you despised the most crept into the evening, like a bad smell at a gourmet dinner.
After the ceremony, it was time for the opening dance. Naturally, Vil, being the epitome of grace and nobility, was the prime candidate to lead it. You were fully expecting him to ask you, but before he could even turn in your direction, the heroine â yes, that heroine â appeared out of nowhere, like she was materializing straight from the pages of the worst romance novel ever written.
âVil,â she said in a voice that sounded like honey and broken promises, âI trust youâll grant me the honor of the first dance.â
You blinked. *Excuse me?*
She said it so confidently, as if it were a foregone conclusion, like she was used to the world revolving around her whims. It was the equivalent of someone just cutting the line in front of you at the store and expecting applause for their audacity.
Vil, for his part, didnât even flinch. His expression was as cool and elegant as ever, but you could see a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
âIâm afraid,â he said, voice smooth and polite, âI already have a partner for the first dance.â
The heroineâs face froze in a way that almost made you choke on your own breath. âW-What?â She blinked rapidly, as if her brain couldnât process the fact that someone had just told her no.
You, too, were a little stunned, for a seperate. Was she actually planning on throwing a tantrum right now? In public? At a literal state function?
âB-But you always dance with me,â she stammered, voice rising in disbelief, her face turning an alarming shade of pink. âIâm supposed to be your first dance!â
You physically had to stop yourself from snorting. Always? He has never even looked at her for longer than five seconds! You couldn't recall a single time Vil had given her anything beyond basic pleasantries. The only reason sheâd be in his line of sight was because she was constantly putting herself there.
Vilâs lips twitched slightly, though whether it was out of irritation or amusement, you couldnât tell. âI donât recall ever dancing with you,â he said calmly, as though she were discussing someone else entirely.
The heroine blinked, clearly taken aback. âW-What?â
Vilâs voice dropped to an even icier tone, leaving no room for misunderstanding. âIn fact, I dislike the very idea of it.â
The heroine made a strangled sound behind you, like a baby bird trying to scream.
You looked around the room, half-expecting hidden cameras to pop out, because this had to be a prank. Who acts like this?!
And as you floated onto the dance floor with Vil, you couldnât help but marvel at the absolute insufferable nature of the scene youâd just witnessed. This was, without a doubt, the moment that solidified your hatred for the trash-tier novel world youâd been trapped in. People like her actually existed here?
Behind you, the heroine stomped her foot like a petulant child, completely ignored by the crowd. It wouldâve been almost sad if it wasnât so ridiculous.
And as you twirled under the chandeliers, feeling Vilâs warmth beside you and the heroineâs tantrum echoing faintly in the background, one thing became crystal clear:
This novel may have been trash, but at least you were the one dancing with the prince of perfection.
It hit you like a ton of bricks one dayâcompletely out of nowhere. You had been sitting in Vilâs study, watching him work. He was meticulously going over some documents, his brow furrowed in concentration, his golden hair falling perfectly in place despite him having been there for hours. You were supposed to be reading through some kingdom protocol book, but instead, your gaze kept drifting over to him.
Heâs so⊠beautiful.
You blinked, the thought suddenly snapping you out of whatever trance youâd fallen into.
WaitâŠ
Your eyes widened. Oh no. Oh no no no no no.
You slammed the book shut, startling Vil from his work as you stood up abruptly. âI-I need some air.â
Vil raised an elegant eyebrow, clearly amused by your sudden panic. âSomething the matter?â
âNo! Nothingâs the matter!â you said, far too quickly, your voice an octave higher than usual. You stumbled over your chair in your haste to get out of the room, nearly tripping on your own feet. âI justâneed toâumâfresh air, yes, exactly!â
Before Vil could say anything else, you bolted from the study and down the hall, your heart racing as though youâd just run a marathon. You darted into the nearest empty room and pressed your back against the door, your mind swirling with confusion.
Am I falling for him?
You slapped a hand over your mouth, horrified by the realization. âNo⊠no, this isnât happening. This canât be happening. Iâm in love with a character from this awful, brain-numbing novel?â
You slumped against the door, groaning as the full weight of the situation sank in. How could this happen? How could my first true loveâ you gagged at the phrase âbe from this trash novel?
There was no escaping it now. The butterflies in your stomach every time Vil looked your way, the way your heart skipped a beat whenever he smiled, the fact that you wanted nothing more than to be close to him⊠it was all painfully obvious.
You buried your face in your hands. âIâm going to die. Iâm going to die of embarrassment in this ridiculous world.â
And the worst part? It wasnât even one of the good isekai novels. Youâd somehow gotten stuck in what could be considered objectively the worst one, and yet here you were, head over heels for a character whoâagainst all oddsâturned out to be the most amazing person youâd ever met.
âOh god,â you muttered to yourself, sliding down to the floor, your head falling back against the door with a thud. âI'm in love with Vil. Iâm doomed. Completely doomed.â
âMon Dieu! What a revelation!â a voice suddenly rang out from the shadows.
You yelped, whipping around to see none other than Rook Huntâperched in the corner of the room like some kind of overly dramatic bird of prey, his hat casting a mysterious shadow over his eyes. His entire being radiated excitement, and you swore you saw actual sparkles in the air around him.
âRook?! How long have you been there?!â
âLong enough, my dear,â he said, voice hushed with reverence, as though you had just confessed your deepest, most tragic secret. âAh, love! The torment, the longing! The exquisite despair you must be feeling!â He took a step forward, eyes gleaming with unbridled enthusiasm. âBut fear not, mon ami, for I, Rook Hunt, shall be your faithful cupid! Together, we shall make Vil see the truth of your affections!â
You blinked, stunned. âUh⊠Iâm not sure thatâsâ"
âAh, but you must!" Rook declared, swooping down to kneel dramatically before you. âLove, once realized, must be pursued with all oneâs passion and determination! Do not let this opportunity slip through your fingers like sand in the wind! I shall assist you!â
You opened your mouth to protest, but the sheer intensity of his expression made you falter. Rook was looking at you like this was the most important mission of his life.
Honestly, what did you have to lose at this point?
With a deep, exhausted sigh, you muttered, âFine. Fine! Iâll do it. Help me, Rook.â
Rookâs grin stretched so wide it was borderline terrifying. âExcellent! This will be an adventure for the ages!â Before you could even process what youâd agreed to, Rook leaped to his feet and clapped his hands together. âBut we will need more help. A certain someone with a youthful spirit and just enough mischievousness to add that je ne sais quoi to our plans.â
Oh no.
Cue Epel.
âWhat the hell are you ropinâ me into?â Epel grumbled as Rook dragged him into your predicament not five minutes later.
âI have volunteered you for a most noble cause, mon petit pomme,â Rook said, not even breaking stride as he swept Epel into the room. âOur dear friend here is head over heels for our Vil, and we are going to help them win his heartâ
Epel paused, blinking at you in disbelief. âWait, Vil? That Vil?â He gestured vaguely in the direction of where Vilâs office was.
âYes, that Vil,â you said flatly, already regretting every life decision that had led you to this point.
Epel gave you a dubious look. âAnd you agreed to let Rook help you?â
You groaned, dragging a hand over your face. âDonât remind me.â
âAlright, fine. Iâm in.â Epel shrugged, a wicked grin creeping onto his face. âIf weâre gonna do this, weâre gonna do it big.â
Thus began the most absurd, over-the-top, and borderline catastrophic schemes in an attempt to prove your love to Vil Schoenheit.
It started innocently enough. You wanted to make Vil his favorite tea. Simple, right? But Rook insisted that it couldnât just be any tea. No, it had to be presented with an air of mystery and allure.
âBring it to him while reciting a sonnet of devotion!â Rook suggested. âDeclare your admiration with each step, so that he understands the depth of your feelings!â
âIâm not reciting a sonnet, Rook.â
Epel, on the other hand, was far more pragmatic. âOr you could just⊠write him a note and leave it with the tea?â
That seemed normal. Rational. Youâd take Epelâs advice. So, you snuck into Vilâs room, left the tea and a note on his desk, and slipped out before anyone noticed.
The next morning, Vil eyed you suspiciously over breakfast. âDid you leave tea in my study last night?â
You nodded, trying to play it cool. âYeah, I thought youâd appreciate it.â
Vilâs eyes narrowed, but you swore you saw the corner of his lips twitch into the faintest smile. âI see. How thoughtful.â
Then came Operation: Compliment Vil at Every Opportunity.
Rook, of course, insisted you be poetic. âTell him his beauty rivals the very stars in the sky!â
âIâm not saying that.â
Epel chimed in with a much more straightforward approach: âJust tell him his hair looks nice. Itâs always nice.â
But Rookâs enthusiasm was contagious, and before you knew it, you found yourself blurting out, âYour radiance is blinding today, Vil! Truly, I must shield my eyes from such ethereal beauty!â
Vil, who had been in the middle of inspecting his reflection, froze. His eyes darted to you, and he gave you a strange look.
âAre you⊠feeling alright? Did you perhaps get bitten by a stray Rook?â
You shook your head vigorously, your face heating up from how ridiculous you sounded. âTotally fine! Just⊠appreciating your beauty! Yep. Normal stuff.â
Vil didnât say anything, but you could see a hint of a smirk tugging at his lips. He looked amusedâand maybe a little pleasedâbut more than anything, he seemed confused.
At least he didnât think youâd lost your mind. Yet.
You were convinced this novel had it out for you from the beginning, but this? This was a new low. The memory loss trope, the final attempt to make your life as ridiculous as possible, had arrivedâright on schedule.
You knew how it was supposed to go. Youâd hit your head (a complete accident, obviously), wake up with no memory of Vil, and immediately make the worst decisions possible, like falling for that knockoff prince, Neige. Cue dramatic heartbreak, public humiliation, and eventual abandonment. Classic trashy novel shenanigans.
But apparently, the universeâor whatever cosmic force was in charge of your sufferingâhad decided to take a vacation after all the work it had been putting in. Because when you opened your eyes and saw Vil leaning over you, worry etched into his perfect face, instead of forgetting him, you were⊠immediately smitten?
What?
And it didnât stop there. When he took your hand in his, gently kissing your knuckles in that heartbreakingly tender way, it was like a light switch flipped. Your memories came rushing back, completely bypassing the whole convoluted plot about amnesia and bad decisions.
Because of course in this disaster of a novel, the solution to everything was true love's kiss. The most overdone, eye-rolling cliché in the history of romance, and yet here you were, living through it.
You almost laughed out loud. Of all the tropes this novel had thrown at youâevil fiancĂ©es, jealous heroines, duels for honorâthis had to be the funniest. It was as if the universe had taken one look at your situation and said, âYou know what? Letâs skip the suffering and go straight to the ridiculous happy ending.â
True loveâs kiss. Really. This novel is mocking me at this point, you thought, fighting the urge to scream. But hey, at least you didnât have to deal with more drama. And as Vilâs concerned gaze softened into a relieved smile, you couldnât help but think that, maybe, this was one trope you didnât mind after all.
You'd almost given up on confessing. Maybe you'll just live like this forever, your fate was sealed. The novel clearly doesn't want you to tell him how you feel.
But there was another ball (because apparently that's the only place that nobility had be at in this novel. What was this? the 108th ball of the year?) You'd decided that you'll ask him for a stroll under the moonlight and just tell him.
Of course, the novel is not on your side. What's new?
The ball was going wellâwell, for you and Vil, anyway. Youâd just finished dancing, and he looked absolutely stunning, as usual. You were basking in the afterglow of all the whispered praise and envious stares. That is, until you overheard someone bad-mouthing Vil.
Of course, it had to be the heroineâs best friend, who was apparently using this grand occasion to air her grievances.
âI just donât understand why Vil is always so cold to her,â she whined, loud enough for everyone within a three-mile radius to hear. âSheâs the saintess! She deserves kindness and adoration, not disdain.â
Cue the dramatic gasps from the crowd. Ah, here we go.
You shot Vil a look, but he merely shrugged, rolling his eyes. He clearly didnât want to start any trouble. But you? Oh, you were about to flip the table on these idiots.
âExcuse me,â you began, stepping forward, the crowd parting like the Red Sea as you made your way over. âI couldnât help but overhear your incredibly loud complaints about my fiancĂ©.â
The heroineâs best friend froze, clearly not expecting you to get involved. You smiled sweetly, but your eyes were throwing daggers.
âLet me set the record straight. Vil isnât cold to her because sheâs the âsaintess,ââ you air-quoted the title, âHeâs cold to her because sheâs an insufferable brat whoâs so used to getting her way that she throws a tantrum every time someone says âno.ââ
More gasps from the crowd. You could see Neige stiffening across the ballroom, already sensing where this was going. But there was no stopping you now.
âAnd donât get me started on you,â you pointed at the best friend, your tone dripping with sarcasm. âYouâre out here defending her honor like youâre some knight in shining armor when, letâs be real, youâre just as bad. You fawn over her like a lost puppy, expecting her to shower you with praise when all you do is enable her delusions.â
Vil, somewhere behind you, was probably trying not to laugh. But you weren't done.
âAnd as for your precious Neige over there?â you tilted your head toward the prince-wannabe, who was looking more and more uncomfortable by the second. âHeâs not some perfect angel either. Heâs just a guy with an unsettling talent for showing up at the most convenient times, with that same doe-eyed, clueless expression, making everyone feel sorry for him.â
You didnât stop at Neige.
"And as for you," you said, spinning toward the brooding Duke of the North, the infamous second male lead, who had been leaning against a pillar, looking every bit the tall, tormented, handsome clichĂ©. âYouâre not fooling anyone either. Youâre the king of melodramatic entrances. Always lurking in the shadows, trying to look mysterious, but really, youâre just sulking because no oneâs paying attention to you.â
âOh, Iâm sorryâare you brooding? Again? Let me guess, youâre thinking about some dark secret that youâll drop at the most inconvenient moment to make things worse for everyone, right?â You mimicked his deep, serious voice. ââItâs the burden I must bear⊠alone.ââ You threw your head back in mock agony, hands dramatically placed on your chest.
He straightened up, clearly offended, but you didnât give him the chance to speak.
âAnd stop pretending like youâre some tragic hero,â you added, lowering your voice with a sharp edge. âYouâre just a guy with commitment issues who sacrifices himself because you canât handle the fact that the heroine doesnât want you. Let it go.â
There was dead silence. You half-expected a chandelier to drop just for the dramatic effect. Even Vil had to look away for a moment, probably to hide the fact that he in tears, about to burst out laughing.
The heroine was slack-jawed, her best friend looked like she wanted to melt into the floor, and Neige⊠well, Neige just looked confused. As always.
Satisfied, you dusted off your hands and turned back to Vil, who was looking at you with a mixture of shock and awe, as if heâd just witnessed some divine intervention.
You let out a satisfied huff and turned to leave. "Come on, Vil, I can't stand to be in the same room as these second-rate characters any longer, let's bounce"
Once outside, you saw Vil was still recovering, a smirk pulling at his lips. âI think you may have traumatized half the ballroom.â
âGood,â you huffed, crossing your arms. âThey deserved it. Especially that brooding Duke. âI sacrifice myself for the greater good.â Ugh, give me a break.â
Vil chuckled, sliding his arm around your waist. "Still, you didnât have to go to such lengths for me."
You stopped in your tracks, spun around, and looked him dead in the eye. âOf course I did! I love you, Vil. I couldnât just sit there and let them trash you like that.â
The moment the words left your mouth, you froze. Oh. Well. There it was.
Vilâs eyes widened, a rare, unguarded expression crossing his face. For a moment, he just stood there, taking in your words. Then, without a word, he cupped your face in his hands and kissed you, soft but sure, like heâd been waiting for this moment as much as you had.
When he pulled back, his smile was the softest youâd ever seen. âYou love me,â he repeated, almost like he couldnât believe it.
You nodded, a bit breathless from both the confession and the kiss. âYes, Vil. I love you. Even with all your ridiculously high standards and obsession with skincare.â
Vil laughed, the sound warm and genuine. âYou have no idea how long Iâve wanted to hear you say that.â
Vil pulled back slightly, his hands still resting on your waist, and asked with a quiet, almost teasing tone, "Well then, since you love me so much... should we get married?"
You blinked, your brain taking a second to catch up. "Waitâwhat? Married? Like, right now?" You stared at him, heart racing, before suddenly, an idea lit up your face like a firework. âOh my god, yes! Letâs do it. Letâs get married ASAP. Like, today. Right now. Do we even need a ceremony? We can find an officiant andâboomâdone. Just tell me where to sign!â
Vilâs eyes widened, taken aback by your sudden enthusiasm. âAre you⊠serious?â
You grabbed his hand, absolutely buzzing with energy. âOf course, Iâm serious! Why wait? This dumbass universe keeps throwing garbage tropes at us, and honestly? Getting married right now is the perfect way to flip the script! Take that, fate!"
Before Vil could respond, an overly excited voice erupted from behind a nearby pillar. âOh lĂ lĂ ! Mon cĆur can hardly handle this romance!â Rook leaped out from the shadows, practically sparkling with joy, as if he had been waiting for this very moment all his life. "The passion! The declaration of love! And now, a spontaneous wedding? Magnifique!â
âRook!?â Vilâs voice was a mix of amusement and exasperation. âHave you been spying on us?â
âSpying?â Rook gasped dramatically, placing a hand on his chest. âNon, non, Vil! I was merely ensuring your well-being as any devoted friend would!â He gave a wink, clearly pleased with his role as an unintended audience.
âMe too!â Epel poked his head out from behind another pillar, grinning sheepishly. âI mean, whoâd wanna miss out on somethinâ like this? Yâall are gettinâ married!â
Vil let out a long, tired sigh, but you could see the faintest smile tugging at the corners of his lips. âI canât believe this is happening,â he muttered.
âOh, itâs happening,â you said, grabbing his arm again and dragging him forward. âWeâre doing this, and itâs going to be the best wedding in this entire stupid book, Rook, Epel, youâre both invited. Wait, scratch that, youâre both in the wedding party now!â
âCâest incroyable!â Rook twirled dramatically, hands clasped together, already imagining his outfit for the occasion. âI shall be the most loyal and stylish groomsman! Oh, lâamour!â
âAnd I get to wear somethinâ fancy, right?â Epel asked, already envisioning something much cooler than his usual attire.
Vil was now fully grinning, his initial surprise turning into genuine amusement as he looked at you with sparkling eyes. âYou really are something else.â
âYeah, and now Iâm gonna be your something else forever.â You beamed up at him, still holding onto his hand like you might drag him to the altar yourself right now.
âWell then,â Vil sighed, leaning down to kiss your forehead. âLetâs get married.â
Before you could even start plotting where to drag Vil to find someone to officiate, Rook suddenly gasped, clasping his hands together dramatically. "Mon dieu! How could I forget? I am more than prepared for this moment!"
You and Vil exchanged puzzled looks. "What are you talking about, Rook?" Vil asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
Rook grinned, remviong his hat and and dramatically pulling out a folded piece of parchment. "Behold!" he announced, waving the paper with a flourish. "A certified license to officiate weddings. I took the liberty of acquiring it long ago, knowing that one day Iâd be the one to unite you and your beloved. Câest le destin!"
âYouâreâŠÂ licensed?â Vil blinked, looking at Rook like he had officially lost it. "And you're walking around with the license in your hat?"
Rook nodded with a dazzling smile. âWhy yes, Iâve been preparing for this glorious day! Every flower petal, every gust of wind, every glance of love Iâve witnessed between you both has been leading to this fated moment!â He struck a pose, the parchment still dramatically held aloft.
You stared at him, then back at Vil. "Okay, I know this is ridiculous, but honestly? This is the funniest thing Iâve ever heard, and I kind of love it. Let's just let him do it."
Vil put a hand to his forehead, trying to suppress a chuckle. "Are we really doing this?"
âYes!â you declared, squeezing Vil's hand. âIf weâre going full chaos, weâre going all the way. Rook, officiate the hell out of this wedding!â
Epel, watching the entire spectacle, burst into laughter. âOnly in this house, I swearâŠâ
Rook practically sparkled with joy, bouncing on his feet. âOh lĂ lĂ , it will be my greatest honor! Iâve been rehearsing my officiating speech in front of the mirror for monthsâ
âMonths?â Vil repeated, a mix of disbelief and exasperation in his tone.
âMais oui! Every day, Iâd wake up and say, âToday could be the day!ââ Rook sighed dramatically, already tearing up. âAnd here we are. Itâs everything Iâve ever dreamed of. Now, shall we begin? I have the vows prepared, unless you have your own?â
You leaned into Vil, barely holding back laughter. âI have zero regrets about this. Absolutely zero.â
Vil sighed again but couldnât stop smiling. âOnly you could make something this absurd seem perfect.â
POV: You come back home from a long day after work to your boyfriend jerking off to the thought of you đ€đ€
"I'm home" you say as you enter your home that you and your boyfriend choso lived in. When you hear no answer, you call out "Cho?". He would normally be running at you frantically because of how much he missed you at this time.
You felt bad that he stayed up so late to greet you when you came back but your job required you to stay late and that meant less time with your adorable boyfriend. You took off your coat and hung it up on the coat rack, simultaneously taking off your shoes and scarf. 'He must be sleeping, poor baby,' you thought to yourself checking the time that read 11:34pm.
You went to the room that you both shared and stopped dead in your tracks at the noise you heard. You peered through the crack in the door to find the source of the soft pants and struggled moans.
Your boyfriend was lying on your shared bed with his shirt in his mouth, pants on the ground, stroking his cock with both his hands, completely red in the face. You couldn't help but stare as he shuddered with every soft movement.
You saw him teasing his tip and fondling his balls but you snapped when you heard him moan your name and opened the door, quickly walking inside, unbuttoning your shirt.
"Y/n," was the only thing he said before you were crashing your lips onto his and slipping your tongue into his mouth as you both moaned at the feeling. Your lips captured his in a frenzy making him hold onto you with trembling hands.
"You couldn't wait until I got home, could you?" You ask him between breaths after you finally pulled away, a string of your mixed saliva connecting the both of you.
"N-no, I tried to cum but it didn't work," Choso said looking down towards his cock. You peered at his reddened dick that was leaking cum and grabbed hold of it. That was enough to send Choso off the edge as he erupted in the palm of your hand. "F-fuck I-" Choso was cut off as you kissed him hard before kneeling between his legs and wrapping your mouth around his dick.
Choso couldnât hold back his moans as your hot mouth engulfed his still sensitive length. His cock throbbed in your mouth, a long prominent vein stroking your tongue and making you pool between your legs.
âF-fuck, I missed you so m-much,â Choso groans as his words make you moan on his dick, sending vibrations along him.
He gently pulled you off his cock and repositioned the both of you so that your pussy was directed over his face and he nearly came at the sight of your swollen wet cunt clenching around nothing.
âCho ??â You asked your boyfriend who was just as mesmerised at your pussy like every single time heâs seen it. He reached out with his fingers and circled your throbbing clit making you cry out in pleasure from the slight friction. You felt his dick twitch against your face, nearly forgetting the task you had at hand when Chosoâs mouth collided with your pussy.
âMmmph, nghh,â you couldnât let out the moans you wanted to as you slipped Chosoâs pretty cock in your mouth, your legs spread on either side of Chosoâs face as he devoured you like you were the first thing he had eaten in years.
Choso was having a hard time trying not to cum from the sound of your muffled moans and the way your tongue swirled his tip making him twitch in your mouth. He licked a languid stripe from
your hole to the top of your sensitive bud, drawing circles with his tongue. He sucked and licked your clit so hard you couldnât even suck his dick properly, going dumb from his mouth.
He gripped your thighs and brought you impossibly closer to his face, groaning in your pussy and tongue fucking your tight hole. Your legs trembled and you got closer and closer to your release.
âChoso, ahhh, I-iâm cumming, oh my god,â You managed to make out as your eyes rolled to the back of your head and your body rushed with white hot pleasure. You shook and squirmed on top of Choso who didnât let up his antics, directly targeting your clit as you came all over his tongue. He drank in your sweet juices with a low thank you that you nearly missed as you lay lazily, his twitching cock hitting your face.
Choso flipped you over to face him, straddling him, your pussy directly on his rock hard dick. He gripped your thighs and kissed you, letting you taste yourself as you both moaned against each other. He gave your boobs a desperate squeeze and leaned down to suck your nipples as you dragged a hand through his hair and leaned your head back. He then kissed up from your boobs up to your jaw, leaving marks as he went and moaning, grinding his raw dick on your slick pussy.
âBaby, can you ride me again ?â
