Next project: the starry purple quilt! I know this fabric stack is yellow, bear with me lol

So far I’ve gotten like 2/3 of the initial ironing done, and a little less than half of the fabric cutting for the stars. Each star has one 6.5” square and eight 3.5” squares. Then I’ll be cutting out five or six 6.5” squares of each purple fabric (I have 17 and need 93 purple squares)

So, all together, that’s 27/128 squares cut out so far! Wish me luck lol

Another piece of advice for undergrads looking to get into academia/grad students who are preparing for their first conferences:

This is not a public speaking class, you cannot just shrug off going over time as a quirky thing because the only consequences you’ll face are getting a slightly lower grade — this is a conference meant for sharing ideas and networking, not an end of term project, and the panel isn’t purely about you. Going over means that the next person down the line can’t go into *their* ideas as much as they’d like, which hurts *their* enjoyment of the conference. It will also make the panel organizer/chair think you’re a dick (I’ve done both and can confirm + have gone out for drinks with panel organizers after someone has gone over, this is not a hypothetical.) This is not an end of term project designed to show off how smart you are, it’s better to go under than over.

Roughly 10 pages, double-spaced to do a twenty minute paper, roughly 7 minutes double spaced to do a fifteen. Don’t go over unless you’re prepared to sound like a chipmunk.

like. okay. thinking about this some more and tbh it is kind of insane to me the way people will sometimes characterise core four, and kon specifically, as being completely unconditionally on board with tim not revealing his real name or face to them prior to wwyj.

like, i know the real reason is that the people doing this simply don't read comics. which is such a fucking wall to run into. but man... tim not telling them his identity when everyone else had revealed theirs to each other/didn't have one to begin with was the biggest driving force behind the tim and kon fight on apokalips. the same way kon was upset and hurt that superman never told him he's also clark kent. kon is very explicitly not cool with being left out of the loop about things as big as secret identities. it makes him feel like the other person doesn't consider him trustworthy, and then he starts questioning their relationship. (once again, pointing at the kon & lois conversation post hypertime arc when he finds out clark's secret identity.)

i love identity shenanigans. i love identity angst. i think thats one of the most fun things about the superhero genre! and aus where they don't know each other's ids can be fun!!! but it's like. INCREDIBLY out of character for that not to be a driving force of conflict if kon is involved in any way.

One of the funniest things about the QSMP finale was Pac going "Yeah, Cucurucho transferred my consciousness into this Egg body to save me," and Mike is immediately like, "Wait, why the hell didn't they save me?!?" pfttt
