what is the weirdest submission you've gotten

I think "weird" is the wrong word to describe the entries, everyone has their own reasons to submit their characters and it's not my place to judge that, not at all/nm.

With that in mind, the person who submitted every single Peanuts character one could possibly imagine just an hour before the form closed definitely caught me off guard. Godspeed to that person, not a single one had a given explanation either, hope they're doing well.

My thoughts here mainly revolve around YSA as the mary sue/female lead type character:

She goes from being this perfect woman to. just being a woman. And my idea is that the weight gain isn't there to make her "unconventionally attractive," or whatever other dumb phrase you wanna use to avoid calling someone ugly, but to make her conventionally attractive, yet realistic.

Instead of looking like a skinny waifu character, she looks like a skinny human woman. Her hair swaying in the nonexistent wind isn't as perfect, her magic blush is missing and she has eyebags. She's still hot, just more human.

my fiancée & I were in new york last weekend for eir birthday & we went to cubbyhole, famously a lesbian bar, & there were in fact a couple of guys there! & literally no one in that bar gave a shit that they were there, bc they were just having a drink with their friends & not bothering anyone!

& like even leaving aside all the very valid points about people assuming some bi girl’s boyfriend is cishet when he’s actually bi4bi and/or t4t (many such cases) - when a cishet guy is at pride with his bi girlfriend & he knows how to be normal, you might not even notice him being there. if a straight guy is in an lgbt space being supportive of his friends or partner, & he’s not harassing anyone or being obnoxious, literally why do we care? bc quite frankly I would rather have Straight Steve at the party holding his gf’s drink than have a big “no straights allowed 😠” sign at the door & make it a hostile space for, say, a gnc trans woman who someone mistakes for a straight man, or a nb/transfem who’s not ready to be out yet, or a bi man who’s not ready to be out yet, or anyone else who has every right to be there. because you don’t know anything about someone just by looking at them! if they’re not being an asshole, mind your business!! I say this as a man-hating lesbian myself but oh my god some of y’all have never grown past the “boys have cooties” stage.

that doesn’t change that she abused rhaenyra and her children, her own son, most likely helaena given how she flinches every time her mother touches her, and is actively weaponizing the patriarchy of westeros against other women- rhaenyra primarily, but also mysaria and dyana.

she isn’t the moral, righteous force of good that even she thinks she is, she’s a wounded woman directing all of the rot, pain, and fury inside her at the wrong people and forces.

I'm struggling to word this but I'm finally ready to talk about it and I want people to listen.

I've noticed a type of racism in leftist communities I don't see talked about a lot. I am Quarter Japanese and I am visibly mixed, but a lot of leftists see "quarter" and assume that I don't have the right to an opinion on issues that effect me. The sentiment I've gotten from mostly white leftists is that I'm not "POC enough" for a lot of discussions.

There's this weird thing in a lot of leftist spaces where your appearance and percentage, not your experiences based on your race, are considered above all.

Meanwhile, in reality, all aspects of my identity are affected by my race and my family's experience with Japanese internment. An event which stripped them of any wealth they had acquired since moving to Canada over 50 years before the war.

An event that cause the intermarriage rate of Japanese-canadians and white Canadians to be over 90 percent post internment because we viewed proximity to whiteness as safety. An event which left them in severe poverty until my dad and aunt worked their asses off to get a degree. The generational trauma goes so deep my dad didn't want me transitioning because he was worried about what the government would do to me.

Because of my race I experienced negligence from authority figures related to pretty severe racially based bullying at 12. That negligence could have killed me. I've had to deal with microaggressions and straight up racism related to my last name on multiple occasions.

One time I was out with a friend and he grabbed my arm tight and dragged me to walk faster. A man wearing a white lives matter T-shirt was standing in the middle of the path looking directly at me when I turned around.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't based on me being feminine and goth that day, I live in a city with a decent amount of people in alt subculture and my friend was way more gothed up and queer than me. I was barely passing as a guy at that point so it wasn't because I was a man in a dress. I know this is a weaker point, but it made me realize just how unsafe I am in my own community even though I'm a mixed person in a heavily multicultural city.

Obviously, this isn't on the scale of someone who is less white passing than me and/or has more compounding marginalizations. However I've found that the fact I'm mixed race has been used against me to devalue my experience and knowledge regarding what it's like to be a POC in Canada.

I can assure you I am aware of how bad it is, and I am aware of how good I have it. I also want you to be aware that it's not all sunshine rainbows and bunny farts to be more white, it doesn't make the racism go away. It often just makes it more covert and easy to explain away because I'm "not really Japanese"

i mean tommy literally ditched buck outside the restaurant on their first date and then made no attempt to contact him after cracking a joke about 'closet space' (and yes, i know it's to date someone who's in the closet and still figuring themself out, but like, it's not like tommy didn't know what he was getting into lmao) and like, maybe the costuming thing is juvenile but it's clearly important to buck. like, no one else showed up in costume (besides eddie) and i wouldn't have either because the whole thing was idiotic and in honor of someone who didn't even want it, but, like, new relationship, make an effort. and i know he was on call but he would have had to change anyway. but also like, imagine not getting time off work for a wedding your a date to when the person who's date you are is clearly already feeling vulnerable about the whole thing.

i mean this is exactly what i was talking about...

we've no idea how much notice buck gave tommy for the wedding, the reasonable assumption is that being off work but "on call" was the best he could do. It's not like they work in an office and the worst that'll happen if they're short staffed for a day or two is some emails not getting sent. people die because of understaffed emergency services irl.

like i said, him showing up despite being on call is the effort, and a far bigger one than putting on a costume.

and clearly tommy's fine with dating someone still figuring themselves out, but there's a difference between that and actively being in the closet.
