I am genuinely so terrified of the fact that I have to find a job now. I'm trying to think of or look up a job that's suitable for my mentally ill autistic ass and I just. I don't know. Everything either requires some very specific qualifications that I don't have, or seems at best awfully exhausting, at worst literally putting me in danger. And I'm not even exaggerating, I genuinely think that working in retail, for example, could possibly kill me if I was forced to do that job for long enough. I sometimes get overwhelmed to the point of crying when there's too many other customers while I'm shopping, I can't imagine working in an environment like that. I suppose physical jobs could work, I've been to this blueberry plantation twice last week and mentally I was fine, but it was. So tiring. And you don't even make that much money a day, I don't think I could earn enough even if I did work there everyday, not to mention it's only a seasonal job. Right now it's fine for me to go there every now and then, but if I wanted to move out and become independent I'd have to get an actual day job. And that sounds impossible. The only job that sounds good to me is being an artist, it's not too mentally or physically difficult, and it's something I enjoy. But I'd have to get commissions constantly or start a small business or something like that to actually survive. And I'm not saying it's impossible, I know that people can live by being an artist, but it's so hard to get into that field. I wish I could do it but I dont know if it's possible for me. Makes me wanna cry. I hate this I hate that my brain isn't suited for this world and still I have to participate in all that shit that everyone has to do. My brain isn't made for working like that

You take a step back in front of the mirror in your shared dorm with your roommates Azzi and Kamorea. You had on a lacy, black corset and a tight black leather skirt and a pair of those cute heels, that have the pretty strings going up your leg- also black. You may ask, what’s the occasion? Well, you’re going to your first concert. As roommates, you got lucky since both Azzi and KK know how to do hair and makeup, which you weren’t gifted with. But, you had all the cute clothes, so you all helped each other out, and honestly - who knew a bunch of college basketball girls could look so hot because you guys really did look good. 

“I am so glad we convinced you to come along with us y/n because you look so fucking good.”, Azzi says, taking a picture of the three of you in the mirror. KK hummed in agreement before getting the shot glasses and setting them on your dresser. “Okay, how about we do three here and we can have some in the car ride there.”, you say and the girls were far from opposed. You didn’t want to get too far gone, especially since this is a concert to remember. You loved rnb music a lot, it was your favorite genre - making Bryson Tiller one of your top artists. 

You all finish your shots, taking a few more photos together and you run to your uber that you ordered a few minutes prior. “No way.”, you say in the car - staring at a message on your phone. You had posted a picture of your fit on your story on Instagram, with some text saying “bryson tn <3”.  Not only did your crush like the story, but she had responded to your story too.

The concert starts, and the team is taking selfies with each other to capture the moment, and of course KK is on live with Ice and Azzi, streaming the concert and you, Nika, Aubrey and Paige are singing along and taking videos. She didn’t have to wear much makeup to look so gorgeous, she wore black dress pants and a black crop top, matching your vibe - unintentionally of course. But to you it comes effortlessly, and you know what you want, you have this big plan for your future of everything. Down to the name you want your fucking cats when you graduate. You deserve more than me.”, Paige says to you, her voice breaking and her back against the counter. 

“One try, okay? Give me one try, and I can show you why you are what I deserve. You are so gifted and your sport will take you places. Sure you do have some labels at school, but those don’t reflect the Paigey I know, the real you.”, you tell her, suddenly feeling bad for the ambush. You reach over for her hands, and hold them gently before placing soft kisses on them.

Of course everyone believes what Paige says, because they knew you were in love with the girl not the other way around. I am begging artists to charge more for their commissions. Pleading. If you are charging anything less than $20/hour you are undercutting the market and making it harder for working artists to earn a livable wage. (And really, truly, you should be aiming at something like $50/hour). Why would anyone want to pay artists what they're worth when there are artists out there asking for pennies for the same thing?

I understand that it's difficult finding commissioners willing to pay higher prices (because they've seen artists charging nothing for art, that's why), but that's something we can fix together if we normalize charging what our work is actually worth!

Also to go off on an unrelated tangent/rant, people have been supposedly like up in arms about how "Silksong will never release!" and how "Its taking FORVEVER to come out!" But like.... First of all, its and indie studio. Secondly It was only announced in 2019, which, yeah, was 5 years ago, but with the way people were describing it I thought it was announced like way earlier. And hollow knight was released in 2017, but the way people talk about it makes me think its like a classic from early 2000's or something. Sure, its a good game, but why are people so stuck on the Silksong thing? Like at least you're pretty sure you're probably gonna get a full game when it releases. With other communities/fandoms you'd be lucky to get even an announcement. Like Deltarune for example. Not even Toby Fox was sure he was gonna be able to do it in the first place lol. And if you think 5 years is bad of a wait, imagine waiting for a new LITERALLY ANYTHING WHATSOEVER from Bethesda that isnt the 100th re-re-release gold ultra plus edition of fucking Skyrim again but now on the fucking smart watch or whatever. I'm 90% sure that most of Bethesda's existance as a company has been spent making something for Skyrim instead of working on anything new or original.

First off thank you very very much. I am so glad to hear how much you like the Hollow Knight comic. And to answer your question, Hornet allowed Dewi to keep that thread. She gave it to him as a peace offering for helping the bugs get back home and to lead Dewi through the maze like cave. Don't worry, she has PLENTY of thread back in Hallownest.

And regarding the impatience of Silksong. I get it. I am the very lucky few to get into the game NOW. I haven't had to wait as long as the many other people waiting for Silksong to release, and in that regard I am quite spoiled. Yeah, Deltarune won't fully release in at least another 5 years, but I wouldn't want to say I'm morally better for my "patience". Waiting for a game or any kind of media SUCKS. The fandom keeps it alive, but even those can grow stagnant. As long as you aren't harassing the creators or fans of the project, you can be as angry or frustrated or sad as you want. I think it's normal and can help others feel less alone in their feelings as well.

a/n: woohoo first headcanons request! im not sure if these are good so please forgive me 😓 i lowkey don't like the way i wrote this, im so sorry 😭

how you met:

you two met at a high school soccer game, when your friend was congratulating the team her boyfriend was on and a boy came up to you

you two talked for a while then you asked his name and gave him yours. unfortunately, just each other’s last names

your friend dragged you off before you could get his number

years later, you’re waiting for your friend at a cafe for a double date which she set up for herself, her boyfriend, you and a mystery date

you’re about to leave when she walks in with her boyfriend, and another man

one you recognise. they sit down at your table, and apologise for being late

but your eyes are fixated on this man, and his are on you

after the awkward double date, your friend walks home with her boyfriend and the man offers to walk you home

“[last name], right?” he asks, and to his surprise, you nod. “isagi?” he nods in response

from that day on, you two hung out. but the lingering feeling was obvious, neither of you wanted to bring it up, though

lucky for you, your friend organised another double date right after one of your upcoming gymnastics competitions. and she invited isagi

you participate in the competition with your best performance, winning second

a bit down, you walk to where your friend, her now-fiance and your date were sitting

they congratulate you, and isagi asks to talk to you somewhere else

you agree, following him. “hey, [last name], i’ll make this quick so this can be an actual ‘double date’.”

confused, you let him continue. “i like you. i have, ever since that day in my high school soccer team.”

for a moment, it’s silent. then you start laughing. he’s confused but he laughs, too.

“nice to know the feeling’s mutual. wanna date?” you laugh, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek

his cheeks flush pink as he nods. “i wouldn’t object to marriage, even.” he half jokingly says.

well, y’know what they say. sometimes what you say really ends up happening

the two of you got married about a year later :)

after marriage/practices:

at your practices, he tries to come at least twice a week

he cheers you on and at every break, he hands you a your water bottle and rants about how cool you looked, and how well you did

after practices, he gives you gentle massages and you two have a movie night together

he doesn’t really understand gymnastics very much, but her tries his best!

if you have practice or a rehearsal/performance on a Friday night, he treats you to a spa day on the following Saturday

if you have a competition and don’t win first place, he does his best to reassure you that you did great, and he takes you out to a nice dinner after that

Right now your future spouse may have a very playful attitude towards life. They don't take things too seriously, especially their relationships. It's like a game to them. I'm picturing this kind of sarcastic/witty person who repeats after people in a mocking tone and doesn't like 'serious' topics because they are too boring. When you meet them they will have for sure grown out of this attitude and adopted a more balanced approach to life. They'll be more mature and have a greater sense of inner purpose and appreciation for the quieter things in life. They may be more into slow living. They may live near a beach as well.

The changes in your future spouse from now till when you meet them are quite subtle. Right now, they have this happy, stable and optimistic outlook on life. I'm getting that its overall very good for them right now and they are trying to branch out and do something of their own. They have a lot of support, especially from their family and friends. (they may be from a wealthy family) This sense of love and support is definitely reflected in their personality; they're a bright, joyful and loving person. When you meet them, they will have matured a bit, so that their youthful optimism has turned into ambition. Things kind of come easy to this person, I'm not sure if they're just naturally lucky or again, it could be their family. I'm also getting that they could have used networking/connections to further their career since they are so friendly/outgoing.

I'm getting the image of someone who has dreams and ambitions they want to accomplish but they just can't seem to get it right, they may also be falling into depression. There is something about their potential that's unrealised. To be honest, they may be a bit lazy right now; not using the tools at their disposal. When you meet your future spouse they could be at rock bottom. They would have finally started to work towards what they want but their recent projects could have failed. I'm seeing that it could be something artistic/unconventional. Despite their recent failures they still don't give up because they don't want to have any more regrets. Which is good because around the time you'll meet they'll be getting the opportunity for a major collaboration that will bring them alot of support. Its like meeting you was their good luck charm.

They've built a web of protection around themselves, and this was in repsonse to them trying to navigate through life. It's just the natural approach they've picked up, Im getting that they may not even be aware that they have a tendency to self isolate. Could be the type of person to end up doing things by themselves because no one else is doing it right by their standards. It's like they're kind of in their own world. This person could be neurodivergent. When you'll meet them they will have flourished. They'll be much more open and emotionally developed and aware, but they'll still be very introverted and it may not be apparent at first glance that they could be this amazing person with a rich inner world. I'm seeing that they will have leaned more into their eccentricities. People may overlook this person a lot because they're so quiet. Despite them going through all that emotional development, they may not be so open to love when you two meet and it could take some time before you can reach their heart.

Right now your future spouse is in a mentally confusing situation. They feel they are trapped but they actually have a way out. I'm getting that they are failing to see the bigger picture. They may also have very narrow world view and could be bogged down by what they were taught to do? What's coming forward is someone who was told from childhood that things were a certain way and a certain way only so that its ingrained in them to only believe in that way of life/those values. Like someone who was told since chilhood to follow a certain career path or someone who was raised with conservative views. These values are causing them distress first of all because they are interacting with the outside world and people who won't tolerate their bullshit.(💀) And second of all because they're starting to understand that they were conditioned as a child and could have just been following a mold that they don't even really believe in. So, right now they're in denial of all this and are trying to go back to what they knew as a child but its not providing the safety it used to, because their perspective is unknowingly changing. They have a lot of work to do to heal their inner child. When you meet them they will have come to a decision and may be actively fighting against these values that they grew up with. They will have become much more reckless and ambitous and will be seeking to explore the world and especially themselves. They'll be questioning everything and trying to find the deeper meaning and reasons behind actions and concepts because they don't want other people and them to ever be conditioned into someone they're not. They dont ever want to be caged or manipulated again. They'll also be following their own path in life; this could be career/ personal friendships/ travelling. They may be a lawyer as well( for a few of you).

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

Hmmm well if i had to choose then the cut reach instagram one but thats because that platform hates me. Its a very simple drawing but i love how it turned out and how much fun it was to draw. It doesnt look like it but i actually put a lot of my feelings into it so drawing it was generally more rewarding to me. a simple joy. i love Przemek. I dont think any of my drawings really are "underrated" im very lucky to be an oc artist that is doing relatively well

ive been enabled so let me share some of my thoughts on how to get ur art noticed online

if u want Engagement on ur posts then i believe that its critical to make people care about ur art. the easiest way to do this is to appeal to something they already care about, like fandom, aesthetics/subculture, current events, having fun (people love humor!). a harder but perhaps more fulfilling route is to talk about ur own ocs and projects enough until people start caring about them too

theres an infinite amount of topics people care about out there so id suggest picking something u already care about urself and channel ur art energy there. trying to make art for the most popular things out there regardless own interests is an exercise in misery, id advise against it..! if im allowed to get superstitious for a moment, i do believe that even untrained eyes can tell whether a piece of art was fun to work on or a chore. and besides! if ur having fun then its easier to create more, and the more u create the more chances ull have at getting lucky and having a post seen :)

on a very related note, art is a way to communicate ideas so the quality of the idea being presented in a piece of art is paramount to how popular a post will be. what i mean by this is that technical skill isnt the primary determinant of a posts popularity. if all your posts are portraits of original characters then people will have a hard time connecting with your posts and theyll keep scrolling, even if those portraits are masterpieces! the major exception to this is probably other artists, who ive found usually have a greater appreciation for the technical side of art (we can only speculate as to why..!)

lemme finish by saying that making popular posts and being good at art are two entirely different skillsets, ive seen many incredibly skilled artists with jack shit for notes because they dont give people a reason to care about their stuff NOT TO MENTION its a huge game of luck whether a post will get seen. so dont go insane in pursuit of recognition!

(i dont want to make this post too long so ive included examples from my own art and their note counts with my analysis after the break)

hello and welcome to the extracurricular segment to this post :) i bring yall two pieces from my art blog @werewolf-artfriend:

here we have a portrait of my fursona that im still proud of and a sketch suggesting "what if sniffers (from minecraft) were the size of mountains?" (let it be noted that the sniffer sketch was posted right during the minecraft mob vote = peak interest in the subject of sniffers).

the portrait at the time of writing has a crisp 30 notes, whilst the sniffer sketch has over 2000 notes. from the same artist, on the same blog, posted only a few months apart. i believe this is a good example both of the power of a piece of art having an interesting idea at its core AND of a piece appealing to the interests of the masses

this is of course just two convenient example posts, but i have experienced fan art of popular topics getting thousands of notes a couple of times now, amidst my other furry shit that these days get around 200-300 notes in comparison

this may sound like a really long winded way of saying "fan art make the world go round" but i just want to point out the nuances that

1) it matters what u make fan art of: if a fandom is small or dormant (waiting on new canon content for example) then clearly less people will be excited about the fan art you make. dont expect 10k notes on ur post if the average recent post in the fandom gets around 200 etc etc

2) it doesnt have to be fan art! ive also had some of my bird art get thousands of notes because people simply like birds :) and this applies to ANY topic people care about! the world rly is your oyster on this one

anyway i think ive started rambling dhgdjhgd thanks if u read this far! i hope i got my point across! and if ur feeling down about ur art not being seen then just keep at it okay! keep creating and keep having fun! keep sharing ur ideas and perspectives with the world and ur audience will eventually find u! i love you!
