more language things. the way i (as a spanish speaker) think of the grammatical structure of pt-br is that it's like speaking constantly in formal spanish (wherein você é functions as usted es, and not tú eres) which means the inverse happens where pt-br speakers learning spanish will default to formal spanish (sometimes not even realising that's a thing) when translating. all this to say that reading fics in pt-br and having characters accidentally talking formal spanish with each other is both hilarious and also really interesting because you can tell exactly what their thought process was
