The Fine Line
Summary: Requested by @thiccboinbackpack, all is going well until a new recruit into the Volturi tries to stir the pot. All of the coven learns what happens when someone draws even a speck of blood from Felix's mate.
Word count: 800, short and sweet.
Warnings: Violence, explicit language
Author's Note: I love this person for suggesting this to me because YESSSS. I am a 🥰weakling🥰 for some hyper protectiveness.
Executions were a smooth operation for Felix, same shit different day. Some poor sod doomed for damnation by the Volturi get sentenced, he executes them, time to burn the bodies and clean up, repeat.
Now that he had a mate in the castle - a human mate no less - he took extra precautions around the time of sentencing.
"Promise me you will stay right here?"
You'd nodded, humming in agreement. "Don't worry Felix, I'll keep out of trouble."
The trial was mundane. Another vampire thinking that because they're immortal they didn't have to bow down to any rules or laws. The masters give their sentence. A swift twist of the head. Demetri at his side to assist by holding the accused in place, and another successful trial ended.
Everything was in order.
Felix liked order. Needed it.
As he was disposing the body Heidi came careening into the room, all her decor and poise gone. She locked eyes with Felix and he knew that something wasn't right.
"It's Y/N. There was another vampire - I didn't see. I didn't see him slip away from the rest of his coven."
If his heart could still beat it would have frozen. Wasting no time he dashes out of the room, following the trail of Heidi's scent to find his mate. Climbing staircases and numerous hallways the smell of blood made his throat burn.
Her blood.
His mate's precious blood.
Two lower guards had an unknown vampire pinned to the ground, his mate backed into a corner. A single cut on her cheek and a burst lip sent him over the edge; not in hunger, no, but rage.
Taking long strides to where she stood frozen in place, he took her chin gently, making her look at him. "Did he do this to you?"
You nod weekly, eyes wide in shock. Frozen. Like a deer in headlights.
His gentle, soft and caring mate in a state of such fright... It hurt him.
The culprit had to pay.
"Bring him into the throne room."
"Felix, please don't-"
"Darling, it's alright," he soothed, pressing a kiss to your forehead. His body felt like a live wire. Electrified. Ready to burst. "Demetrius..."
His friend knew him like the back of his hand. Being around someone for two thousand years will do that to a relationship. By the dark tone in Felix's voice, the blond already knew what was coming. "Just tell me what you need from me, brother "
"Take Y/N to my room. Keep her there until I return."
Felix locked eyes with Demetri. With a curt nod, he scooped up Y/N and whisked her away to safety.
Leaving Felix with the freedom to succumb to his most primal form. A predator whose mate was just harmed by a lesser life form. And like any other predator, the urge to tear apart this pathetic excuse of a vampire's stone flesh piece of piece powered each step he took towards him.
The rogue vampire blanched at the menacing expression Felix wore. "No, wait, stop! I was just hungry, come now. It's just a human-"
The pleas were cut off by a large hand crushing his windpipe. Squeezing so tight a meek squeak was the only sound the vampire could make. Bending down to eye level, pure rage glowed in Felix's eyes. "My human. Mine," he snarled."
The other guards released the rogue vampire. Anyone who knew Felix recognised that glowering stare by a mile off and knew to steer clear of it.
Quicker than the vampire could keep up with, he was spun about and pinned to the ground, arms held behind his head, freeing his throat. Growls filled the room, Felix being driven on by the need to protect. To kill. To destroy. Effortlessly, he tore the arms from the vampire's body, the sound of a cracking boulder echoing in his ears.
Ignoring the vampire's screams, he lifted him off the ground and sunk his teeth into his neck, ripping away stone flesh until the head rolled free of his shoulders. No one hurts my mate and lives.
Y/N was curled up in Felix's bed when he returned. His expression impassive. The rush of the kill coarsing through his long-dead veins. A small half smile lite of her face. "You killed him, didn't you?"
"Of course I did," Felix huffed, joining her side in the blink of an eye. "You're only the most precious thing to me in the world."
Y/N snorted. Her eyes shimmered with love and adoration. Crawling to her knees, she pressed a kiss to his forehead. "My big protector," she sighed against his skin.
A low, content sound rumbled through Felix's chest. Instinctively, his arms wrapped around her body, pulling her close to him. "Always will be."

Well while you're here ☺️
What's your thoughts on Piotr just being a big metal guy???? Like yes, he's stronk, durable, and all that but he is just a big metal guy VS his siblings.
Mikhail: he literally can manipulate matter at a subatomic level, he has his own pocket dimension, he can shoot lasers (I guess lol), and he can "teleport via portal to different dimensions)
Illyana: she's Magik, leader of Limbo (I guess) , and can create stepping disc to anywhere
Then there's Piotr 😆 who yes is powerful but I mean...he really got the creative short end of the stick of mutant abilities.
I guess that's not the only sibling to get the short end. Quicksilver sucks too, his siblings are literal powerhouses AND his nephews (well one of them cause the other is just fast..)
Ooh I have a lot of thoughts on this. One is, I actually really love Colossus' simple power set. It's cool looking, easy to remember, and effective. He just armors up and is impervious to things, simplicity itself. He also strikes me as the sort who wouldn't know what to do with a massive amount of power. If he were a reality warper, I can't see him ever actually using that? At least not often, not without thinking himself sick with the morality of it.
And then, as for his power set versus those of his siblings, there's some interesting stuff there, too. Starting with Magik, I want to say the only ability she has that is inherent to her being a mutant is teleportation, and the rest come from her time in Limbo. Mikhail, of course, really won the power lottery out of his siblings. But if we look closer, these seemingly unrelated powers can look more related.
The Rasputin clan have mastery in the transition of matter. Illyana, from one place to the next. Mikhail, through changing its state and location. And then we come to Piotr, which seems like an outlier at first, but during the Claremont days, his power was described as "coming from a dimension of pure energy." (Which, yeah, I know, it sounds a little silly, but Cyclops' beams also come from the Punch Dimension soooo...). When we think about it this way, it's just another transition of matter, albeit on a much smaller and more personal scale.
But I completely understand if people don't buy into that conclusion.
While we're here, I do want to go into the effects Piotr's ability has. Colossus, historically, is impervious to forms of magic while armored, or can at least repel certain magical creatures/demons, doesn't need to eat or breath and can survive in hostile environments, including ballistic and nuclear blast zones, space (temporarily), the bottom of the ocean, high heat or extreme cold (but not at the same time, and up to a point), can walk off bullets, bombs, missiles, collapsing buildings. His biggest weakness is telepathy (and magnets lol).
In the face of new characters being created or updated, I understand the need/want to update him as well, so he can keep up with the competition.
So, as for power boosting him, I could see someone using that old X-Men Arcade game for inspiration and giving him an area of effect attack that shoots energy when he armors up. Other suggestions I've heard are giving him the ability to grow more when armored, slight metal manipulation, or even just have him master some form of weapon. And though I can't see much use in it, because Colossus isn't a teleporter, it would be interesting if that dimension he draws energy from were an actual, visitable place. I also don't imagine that revealing some new power would be too much of a stretch for him; it could be called his secondary mutation, or he could have been repressing it all this time through his subconscious fear of hurting others.
This turned into a ramble I'm so sorry lol

(Ooh you're writing this!! I'm so excited for that!)
This idea has so much potential. Just the bare imagery of it, the espionage, the intrigue, those feelings of betrayal, torment, and longing, being used, the disgust and thrill of the kill, the reflection on who he used to be and who he is becoming, the strain and tear placed on his old friendships-- can he ever trust again?-- ooh, I'm ecstatic to see how you tackle it!
AU on Piotr Rasputin/Colossus after he takes the Legacy Virus Cure that Beast created.
He isn't dead and It's didn't take him, but instead Russia got a hold of his body and brought him to a secret facility where they keep mutants to use for the better of their country.
Let's say this facility is the very unknown Leviathan. (Equivalent to SHIELD, Hydra, and the Hand.
He was revived and kept in a stasis for a year, after the year was over he was awaked to the harsh reality that he was "dead" to the world and now resides in Leviathan compound...deep in the Siberian Tundra
He will be subjected to years of torture and training (think of it almost like what @apep40 wrote in the story about Colossus joining Weapon X, but geared more towards him being a killer)
He'll fight it on the beginning, but soon they'll pull out the stops of that they are watching his friends and what family he had left and will have no issue in taking them out.. even if it means starting a fight with SHIELD and the heroes.
His training would include: marksmanship, hand to hand, infiltration, espionage, execution, no power combating, manipulation
Only succeeding in: close range gun use, hand to hand, infiltration, execution, and manipulation
Towards the end of his training (let's say 4 years or so..) he is sent out on his first mission. This mission is to be secretive, he isn't to reveal who he is, but he manages to leave a symbol marked in the wall pointing to Leviathan..
He is to be punished for any treason, or what they think is treason. Keep Colossus in line and loyal to Leviathan.
After several successful missions, based mostly in Russia and the surrounding regions, he is allowed to serve on missions outside of the designated area.
This is where his identity is noticed. No need to hide it, Leviathan isn't worried on him running anymore (his loyalty is basically brainwashed into him like Bucky's).
He is labeled and watched by SHIELD now for nearly a year before letting the hero community know that he is alive. This doesn't go over well till Fury shows them why they kept the news hidden.
Colossus is a cold blooded (maybe?) killer. Who serves Leviathan. He blames his friends and family for never finding him and the hell he went through
Personally I think he would not go by Colossus anymore, but just with name (Mr. Rasputin, Piotr, Nikolia - a call to his father and his middle name, etc..)
I am currently writing a story on this, but these are just some of the highlights I have plotted out. Let me know if you got any ideas!

Hello, this is kind of a weird request but I am having the big sad and your colossus headcanons always make me really happy. I know you’re on a bit of a hiatus rn, but could you maybe share some more when you get the chance?
Hello! I am so sorry to just now be answering this (not sure how long this has been in my inbox) and am sorry to hear that you're having the big sad right now - I've been there, and I hope these bring you some comfort or at the very least make it the sad a little less big. I'm also gonna be tagging @osmiumamygdala @apep40 and @thiccboinbackpack because they all have some really great headcanons as well!
Colossus headcanons for Anon
So, personally, I don't think Colossus is a himbo - he's too intelligent for that. He's a teacher, a mentor, and a leader when he needs to be. He's not an idiot by any means, so I direct you to this tweet for further clarification. So, in technical terms, he's a hunk...that being said, there are certain things that just fly waaaay over his head. Including but not limited to:
People flirting with him. He's pretty oblivious, he just thinks they're being nice until someone says 'hey you know they were flirting with you right?'
Certain American-isms are still a bit tricky. Especially very southern colloquial sayings (think Rogue in the 90s X-Men Cartoon)
Niche pop culture references and viral trends take a bit longer to reach him, and he has to have NTW and Yukio explain it to him more often than not.
He's bad at texting, flat out. His fingers are too big for the buttons and a lot of times he can come across as very blunt over text. However, he is surprisingly good at writing letters. He wrote so much to his parents, to Illyana, and even to Mikhail when he could find his address that his letters convey a sort of kindness and warmth that makes it feel special to receive one. He also includes little drawings in his personal letters to his close friends and family.
He's always been big - he was a massive baby, bigger than any of his siblings at almost 10lbs at birth. He was wearing Mikhail's 3-6 month old clothes as a newborn, and he outgrew those pretty quickly.
That's all I have for you right now, but always feel free to request more or just come into my inbox to say hello!

Since Wolverine is getting his own game do you think colossus should, as well?
Maybe the plot would be that hes moved back to rural russia after yet another trauma and, like in krakoa, just wants to be left alone and never want to fight again. Only for the like of weapon x try to track him down and enslave him.
I think it would be interesting if he would only be able to use his powers after he gets sufficiently angry, like the spartan rage in god of war, or in specific sections, and he would have to rely on his own natural strength and fighting skills, at least in the first part of the game.
Or because hes terrified of hurting/ killing people he never uses his powers against a human and only activates them when fighting another mutant or cyborg in a boss fight.
They could use powers that are very rarely referenced, like his inability to breathe in his steel form. There could be stealth sections where he assumes his steel form to hide in fires or under water to avoid detection.
Throughout the game Colossus would journey across several villages, he could travel via train or navigating rivers, their could be a few missions where he explores abandoned cathedrals and theaters throughout russia.
I think there should be a metal gear moment where hes captured, tortured and then escapes.

Top 5
OOOH HONEY I'M GONNA WILD CARD THIS
We're going with Top 5 Colossus looks, a let's go!
5.
This old number is a classic, can't leave her out of the running! Based off of a circus strongman, made in bombastic red and yellow, and larger-than-life, just like our main man here! He's got red knee high boots, shoulder pads, arm sweats, and a big ol belt. This is the outfit you think of when you think Colossus, don't lie to me! While I do think it's time he hangs this up for good, it's been time well-spent, ketchup and mustard leotard!
4.
Strike a pose, darling! You've earned it! It's been said these red threads were based on a European uniform. Whether that's true or not, the white, red, and black on him looks sleek. We're sticking with the knee high red boots, this time with some white stripes in the mix. We've still got a big thick belt around the middle and-- oh la la, is that a belt-style choker? Pete, you little muffin! This look didn't stay with us long, unfortunately, but she lives on in my heart.
3.
Heeeeey ;) why, if it isn't Fox's Deadpool Colossus, fancy seeing you here, big guy!
So, let's look her over, hm? We've still got that belt with the "X" on it, I love it. Our man here looks wrapped up in maybe leather or Kevlar. I'm ashamed to admit, for the longest time I didn't spot that the red on his torso also makes an X, and I'm glad I did, because it used to annoy me but now it doesn't. He's got boots that zip at the front and what looks like cargo pants. This is a practical fit, it looks like he dressed himself.
2.
Outback era! Australia's hot, don'tcha know? And while our poor guy here can't help but burn up his sketches when he draws, we don't mind that he's burning us up, do we?
Orange shorts, red socks, white tennies. It's simple, it's bold, it once again looks like he's dressed himself. To quote Rogue? "Yum!"
1.
Was there ever any question? That beard, that cut, the chains, the tight pants, the sheer shirt, the fur, the cape-- he's back in red and black! Not pictured here, but this fit also comes with a hat, and as he slowly removes each layer, like a Matryoshka, we see more and more of this man down to his center. It's symbolic, it's dashing, it's controversial, it's Colossus!
And here's some looks I left out, but still deserve your attention/consideration

Mafia Piotr Rasputin? Mafia Piotr.
...Mafia Piotr Rasputin...
I think in Ultimate X-Men they had him related to the Russian mob, but it's still such a cool concept. Because, as we all know, Piotr tries his darndest to be gentle, so it would either be a case of him being forced into it (by threat? Need?) or a sort of corruption arc, both of which intrigue me greatly. Unless we're taking about a universe where he was always part of the mob, which could also be interesting.

On that subject, there's a sort of AU/story idea I've been thinking of-- Frankenstein
While Piotr finds life precious and doesn't want to kill anyone unless he has no options left, throughout the comics (barring the newest line maybe), he's been pretty staunchly against resurrecting people when the situation presents itself.
But.
Both of his siblings have bent the rules to bring somebody back-- Mikhail tried to bring Illyana back (using magic) and Illyana tried to stop the Morlocks from being killed (time travel).
So.
AU where Piotr dies, and both Mikhail and Illyana are simultaneously alive. With their brother's death as a unifying goal, they put aside their differences to try any means possible to bring him back.
You'd have the siblings fighting as they search for the best methods, and when the eureka moment finally hits, Piotr is brought back, sure-- but all wrong. His new existence is a confusing and painful, and now his brother and sister are left with the dilemma of keeping him alive out of their own grief and longing, or losing him a second time.

I'd put this under a read more but I'm on mobile right now ksksk.
Anyway, rough beginning for the Mafia Au:
Lies Run Red
The inside of the barn was cool and dark; it was a small comfort from the blazing heat and light outside, enough to raise Piotr's spirits in spite of the horrible stench. Damn anyone who doubted the ferocity of Siberia's moods.
He was kneeling in the hay, making good use of the sharpened potato peeler. His uncle watched him. Yes, his sweet, patient uncle Vad. Vad was seated in an old wooden chair, the light pooling in from the rickey barn rafters cascading around him and casting a shadow that made it hard for Piotr to read all of his features.
Vad turned his own hand over and over again, examining his nails and skin in a bored manner. With those tired green eyes, he peered at Piotr, and from chapped catfish lips he rasped, "your talent is wasted here, nephew."
Piotr smiled shyly and ducked his head. "Oh, Uncle! You flatter me!"
Vad threw his head back in a short laugh. "No, Piotr. I am being serious. I do not give out compliments to just anyone, you know."
With a nod, Piotr continued his chore, angling the potato peeler and working it more aggressively. It was hard to wrench kind words out of uncle Vad. For as sweet and patient as his uncle was, he was also very stern, a strict, and a perfectionist. Ever since Piotr was six, Vad demanded a painting from him for his birthday, and each year, Vad would tilt his head, scowl, and levy out criticism by the bucket. "Looks shit," "it's no Rembrandt," "I wouldn't hang this in the pig pen, let alone my home!" Giving credit, all those harsh words paid off. Piotr was a much better painter now, and it was always worth it to present his Uncle with a painting and watch his lips crack into a smile!
A cricket jumped from the hay and hit Piotr in the cheek, interrupting him from his thoughts. Grimacing, Piotr scrubbed his face. Dammit! Now there was a dark smear on his cheekbone...
Vad gave a humored sigh. "I mean it, Piotr. You are a strong, handsome boy. A great artist. You're no astrophysicist like that brother of yours," he closed one eye and waggled his finger, "but you have a gift.
I mean, just look at the way you've skinned that motherfucker!"
He jabbed his hand in the direction of Piotr's chore. Strips of pale flesh were mixed in with the hay, along with blood. The poor bastard had passed out long ago, and he may have already died from the blood loss.
Piotr shrugged it off. "The pigs like it better in strips."
Vad slapped his knee and barked out in laughter. "Of course you would say that! Such a Piotr thing to say!"
Vad's kind eyes twinkled at Piotr as he rose from his chair to stand in front of him. Vad no longer had to kneel to look his nephew in the face as he would have years ago, which was a blessing on his knees and also a testament to how much Piotr had grown.
A firm hand found itself on Piotr's shoulder, and the uncle and nephew looked at each other with full attention.
"Piotr Nikolaivitch, you are 16 now," Vad spoke quietly. "You are a man. And a damn good one! I won't see you wasting away here on some old farm with a bunch of mealy-mouthed old vets, understood?"
Piotr nodded quietly, though he wished his uncle wouldn't speak of the farm so: it was a nice little place, and Piotr loved it dearly. It was the spot where his grandparents had settled to flee the Bolsheviks. It was the spot his mama and papa chose to have their babies.
Vad continued, "we have family and Family in America. Chances to prove yourself and put your muscle to work. It's a wonderful country! Lots of freedom, lots of saps, everybody keeping their noses where they belong. Easy to get lost there. Job opportunities!" Vad gestured in ecstasy, eyes flickering to the ceiling. "By Rodina, so many job opportunities! Boy, you could get rich!"
Piotr sat up straighter. "I could send money back for mama and papa," he blurted softly.
The hand on his shoulder squeezed. "That's you, always thinking about the family."
Vad's brow furrowed, and he took a moment to lick his thumb and wipe the blood stain from Piotr's cheek. He gave a satisfied smile and continued.
"I want you to go to America, the first excuse you get, and I mean any excuse you get! I don't care if it's a fucking telemarketer! I would send you now but, you know, everybody and their suspicions these days! But promise me, promise me, America, Piotr! America!"
Piotr tossed the thought around in his head, idly picking up a long strip of skin to roll between his fingers. He had never been away from home before. The thought terrified him. But he'd do anything for his Family, and, besides, it sounded exciting. "Okay, uncle. Okay."
Vad grinned. He patted Piotr on the shoulder before stuffing his hands into his pockets. "There's a boy! Now, finish up here, clean up, then go inside and take a short break, you've earned it. We'll discuss more about this later-- you have much to learn about America and our Family there."
Piotr beamed, shifting on his knees. "Yes, Uncle!"
"And, Piotr?"
"Yes?"
"Don't tell your mama, okay? She'll get mopey and pissed. Our secret, just for now, okay?"
"...yes, uncle."

Your wish, is my command.
--Rasputin siblings as Bounty Hunters--
Illyana/Magik: She's more Ventress style bounty hunter. She vibes dark side (cause yeah...) but she is 100% willing to help out with the light side. She'll say it's for the pay, but in the end seeing that family.. community.. cry and join together in happiness at being saved. It reminds her of her own people.
Mikhail: He's just twisted. He's all about the greater "good" but secretly he's haunted with nightmares of his people getting slaughtered and enslaved. He goes around taking jobs that hurt rather than help in anyway. Rather watch a people burn than walk away. He always has history with being imprisoned..but that's a story for enough day...
Piotr/Colossus: He never wanted to be a bounty hunter. He resisted it for as long as he could, simply traveling around to help out farming communities. But when he is asked to protect a set of land, and ends up taking a life..he realizes that he can't get away from the bounty life. He quickly becomes the Colossus. A silent, metal cold killer (or at least that's what people see him as). He simply gods his face and does the job...but every one breaks his heart. At the same time he hears news of his siblings and is on the hunt to reunite with them and stop their darker ways.
Holy shiiit I love this and I didn't know how badly I needed this but I do, with every fiber of my being, actually.

Where do you find your comics?
I have comixology, but the newest additions are hard to get.. I really really want to read X-Men gold (that shirtless cover post has been spinning 😆)
Mm, for physicals I mostly hit up comic shops, it's good to support local businesses. If there are comics you want to read but not buy, you can always look up reading sites online (though I would heavily suggest adblock).

So... You are very big brain about the x force line right now.
I read it, caught up. I read and caught with x force too.
Now what I am trying to figure out is...what is the complete beginning to now comic line up of the X stories? Like what's the first wine to now of all the connecting stories? (Ask if you need clarification..I suck at explaining this)
I tried to look it up, but internet is mean 🥺
Ooh okay, so for this, do you mean "what are all of the relevant books currently canon from the beginning of the X-Men to now" or "what is the reading order and related books for the current continuity"?
Because the answer to the former is a bit dicey and a monster to pin down depending on who you ask. Relevance, favoritism, and retconning are all factors in play. Not to mention alternate universes, branching timelines, one-shots, and solos. If this is what you want clarity on, we'll streamline it and say you only want mainline books, so you'd start with X-Men back in '63 and then read your way through Uncanny. Along the way are things like Blue and Gold and places where the story hooks up with side books. My memory gets blurry after that as to what is relevant, unfortunately.
If you're asking for current books only, that is also debated! A lot of readers just read them in order of release, which can get confusing! Generally, there are phases, four at this moment, so we're divided into House of X/Powers of X, Dawn of X, X of Swords, and Reign of X. There are also four main schools of thought as to the proper reading order--
The Dawn of X Timeline
The Wikipedia Timeline (good ol wikipedia.)
The Comic Herald Timeline (note, this one can be difficult to navigate).
And the Marvel Guides Timeline
It seems you can pick the one most relevant and appropriate to your tastes. If you ever get curious as to what the proper reading order is for a comic series, searching "(Blank) Timeline" or "(Blank) Reading Order" is a good start.
I will also add that, reading through a whole line of books can be a daunting and intimidating undertaking. If it's what you want to do, you can accomplish it! Remember to keep your eyes rested and drink water often. Pace yourself. If you're reading physical copies and want to keep them in good condition, keep your reading space cleared, wash your hands before reading and keep them dry during, and store your physical copies in a sterile environment (it is okay and encouraged to keep them in their plastic sleeves).
And it is totally okay if you only want to read one or two books, or only ones that interest you! A lot of fans stick to their favorites and grimace as they shove their least favorites down into their subconscious using a broom. Getting into comics can be tough, and making the effort is something to be proud of! Remember that excitement is contagious, and the spirit of it is what counts! Have fun!
And if you have any more questions, if I messed something up, if you need clarity, or you just want to talk, I am open!

Cause why not and I'm kinda curious what your opinion is on this;
Colossus and Domino?
Colossus and Domino... Oh boy.
Ship it
(What made you ship it?) I liked their interactions in some of the older X-Forces.
(What are your favorite things about the ship?) I like that opposites attract angle; Dom is more spontaneous and fun, Lossy is sturdy and headstrong. Neena loves making Piotr smile, Piotr loves being someone Neena can depend on. They both have a rough past; seeing them put one foot in front of the other and hold on to each other all the while makes me...feel things. She was there for him when everybody else seemed to abandon him. I've seen adorable roleplays for the two of them. They are each other's type. I think there was an AU where they were domestic. It was sweet.
(Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?) Hmm... I don't like how bloodthirsty I've seen people get over things in the newest X-Force line. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(Also, I call this ship Osmium Dominoes. Not clever, I know lol).
