what annoys me the most is that Snow and Lucy Gray could have worked. They could have been a good love story. But Snow refused to see the people in the districts as people, he separated Lucy Gray from them in his mind, and he blinded himself to the fact that they were all as human, if not more so, than those in the capital

We should all know by now never to trust blond men, but for the stars of this action packed adventure the answers come just a little too late! Come along on the thrill ride of the year as an aspiring young musician gets thrown into a reality tv show that’s slightly harder than the voice and nowhere near as evil as Americas got Talent. As sparks fly between this songbird and her would be agent, cries to demilitarise the government are heard and then swiftly ignored in favour of improving reality tv. Tragedy strikes when our young heroine’s new beau is caught helping her cheat and the two are separated, but fate strikes one again after she finds out her new friends have been sent to a bargain bin military school that’s in the same location as her hometown and it looks like romance is back in the cards after all! A few executions and a song break later, it turns out the man of her dreams isn’t quite who she thought he was, and the real song was within her all along. What more could you want from the best musical about politics and killing children since bugsy malone!

Me: *reading a post that makes the joke “Peeta dropped the baby bomb, Gale drops bombs on babies”* haha good one
Also me: you’re missing the point! You’re missing the point! YOURE MISSING THE POINT! He grew up starving. His best friend almost died of hunger. Most of his people live in poverty. He watched children die in a bloodbath every year for the capital’s entertainment. The girl he loved went into the games. Was tortured by the capitol. His district was bombed out of existence. Nearly everyone he knew was killed. Their only crime was being fed up of being hungry and oppressed and sharing the same district as Katniss. All those innocent people. Murdered. He had to take refuge in a district that was bombed out of existence and forced to live underground. Of course he joined the war effort. Of course he designed unethical bombs and battle tactics. He wanted revenge. He wanted the capitol to have a taste of their own medicine. He wanted the rebellion to succeed. And tell me you could live through what he did, and that no part of you would be screaming for Justice and vengeance. Gale is you. You are Gale. He represents a part of feelings and actions that reside within us, even if you don’t act on it.
“But he killed prim!” Exactly! Gale loved prim. She was a second family to her. He looked after Katniss’ family. He saved them from the district 12 bombings. He loved her. He never would’ve put her in danger. He never would’ve put in order for a bombing if it would kill Prim. But coin would. And did. She took what was meant to be a tool of Gale’s righteous revenge for all the suffering he and his people suffered through, only for someone in power to take it and use it to kill someone he loved.
There’s some many lessons to take. We can’t control the things we create. War spares no one. Even justifiable rage and actions can end up rebounding and hurting those you love instead of your targets.
“He drops bombs on babies” is too simplistic of a takeaway and does a disservice to the story and Gale.

Readers be like, Peeta is too good, too perfect when you read the books, it’s annoying!
But, guys, he is not! Not at all! It’s just we read what Katniss thinks and she is head over heels in love with him. He saved her life when she was 11, she always saw him like he was perfect, because he was perfect for her! She describes him like he is the most righteous man in the galaxy, because he is for her, we read her story.
But if you look at Peeta, at everything he was doing, he is one manipulative son of a bitch.
He manipulated the crowd into seeing Katniss as someone desirable, he lied a lot to get sponsors for her. He knew she had something going on with Gale (although she didn’t have anything yet, but he thought she did) and still flirted his way into her heart.
One thing certain, he did love Katniss unconditionally. He would do anything for her. And that’s why she only sees how perfect her boy with a bread is, because he is perfect for her.
And come on, we all would sell our souls to have a partner as devoted as Peeta.

“You’ve no right to starve people, to punish them for no reason. No right to take away their life and freedom. Those are things everyone is born with, and they’re not yours for the taking. Winning a war doesn’t give you that right. Having more weapons doesn’t give you that right. Being from the Capitol doesn’t give you that right. Nothing does.” ― Suzanne Collins, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
