Imagine Team Natsu has to rent a vehicle or something and they require actual legal paperwork like a birth certificate and address or something like that (more than just “guild business! Gonna need this!”). Lucy doesn’t want to rent it because there is no way she’s going to be responsible for the inevitable damage. Erza, being the leader and a good friend volunteers. A few minutes later she comes back out, puzzled.

Erza: “why would they need a birth certificate? Shouldn’t me being present be proof enough of my existence?”

Gray starts snickering in the background. Natsu goes in next but comes out even earlier than Erza, cause at least Erza had a probably legal address at Fairy Hills, Natsu on the other hand lives in a house in the woods.

By the time Wendy goes in the receptionist is exasperated. “Yes I understand you are with Fairy Tail but that isn’t until page three of the paper work. None of you have made it past the first page.”

Gray finds this all very amusing.

Lucy: “Since you find it so amusing why don’t you go register, Gray!?”

Gray: mutters something

Natsu: “What do you mean you’re legally dead?!”

Cause you know, Ur just found a kid (the only survivor) and just decided to keep him. Oh, no official rescue crews didn’t show up until two days later? My kid now :)

The search and rescue teams never found any survivors in Gray’s old town so everyone was pronounced dead. The magic council or whoever is in charge of that stuff is also disorganized enough that no one realized that Gray Fullbuster is both a famous wizard and supposedly dead. So, just, Gray technically being considered legally dead the entire time he was at Fairy Tail.

Also, the slayers all going out on a job together(the dragon slayers had to drag Gray). The job turns out to be a trap (surprise!) and the floor just opens up revealing a giant vehicle.

Dark mage: “Ha-ha! I have bested the dragon slayer! The most powerful mages-“spots Gray just chilling, perfectly fine and not motion sick. “what are you doing?” Cause the guy was planning to capture dragon slayer, not whatever a demon slayer was (the dark mage didn’t even know demon slayers were a thing). Gray defeats the dark mage but holds it over Natsu’s head for a week.

After that anytime a large group of dragon slayers takes a job together they take Gray along for “extra security during transportation” or just extra security in general.

I also head-canon that each type of slayer magic has its own unique weakness. Dragon slayers get severely motion sick. God slayers are claustrophobic. Demon slayers cannot handle sweets. If Gray gets even a whiff of cake or any other dessert his gag reflex acts up and he gets really nauseous and other stuff like that. He of course hid it at first (he was afraid Erza would disown him) but eventually everyone learned about the weakness of demon slayers. Natsu teases him about it but never pushes it too far to the point of accidentally making Gray really sick.

Anyways, sorry for the long ask. Feel free to expand on anything. Always love some good slayer bonding head-canons and just Fairy Tail head-canons in general. <3

Oh, you have no idea how often ive though about Gray being legally dead, my personal favorite scenario is him trying to fix it and prove himself alive but cant

“How the fuck would i know my social security number??? i was eight years old! i had no reason to know!!!”

There was no dna or finger-print records of him or his family so he couldn’t prove it that way either. Apparently, declaring someone born or dead is easier than someone ‘resurrected’. To the law Gray of Isvan is dead and although Gray of Fiore bares similarities, they are two different people.

But ALSO to the law Gray of Fiore doesnt exist bc he has no birth certificate. And while hes adamant, he has no real proof beyond his word he is Gray Fullbuster of Isvan.

So basically, According to the law, Both Gray Fullbuster of Isvan and Fiore are dead and never existed, respectively.

tbh this sounds like an identity crisis waiting to happen, but what else is new with him

Erza probably tried to fix it after she was told bc she legally didnt exist for a minute either (never was filed as a real person, she was able to file for a late birth certificate on account that she wasnt claiming to be a ‘separate’ person and also Makarov did it for her) (dont ask why he didnt for Gray, i like plot holes). But quickly realized their situations were very different, him waiting over a decade to check in as a survivor with the proper authorities definitely weakened his case considering he was running around free before he decided he needed a birth certificate.

But hey, as long as he doesn’t need to rent something, or get a license or id, or work somewhere beyond Fairy Tail, or get married, or, god forbid, die again, he should be fine!

i wonder if he would be considered a ‘john doe’ if he actually died again since they have ‘no’ birth records

i love everything to do with the ‘dragon slayers + gray’ dynamic

‘Extra security’ just turns into Gray babysitting a bunch of rambunctious dragons for hours. seriously, get this guy a reward for how he hasnt killed or maimed any of them yet.

Imagine them trying to convince Gray to walk to their destination instead of taking the train

“Its not that far!!” “its fucking 5 hours by train, How long do you think itll take to walk? Why would even you pick this job if you knew how long the ride would be??” … “nobody looked..” “are you actually serious.” … “oh my fucking god”

and thats the story of how one Demon slayer ended up having to babysit 4 very pitiful looking Fairy Tail Dragon slayers on a train. Dude had to drag them off it once it stopped too.

His side career of ‘Dragon Slayer Babysitter’ only gets harder when they realize holy shit! cold compresses can help nausea! and what do they have? a walking cold compress.

Taking a train trip with them just means second hand nausea AND embarrassment, and absolutely no personal space. A dream come true.

At least he gets to hold it over their heads

Tbh i like the irony of Dragon Slayers being motion sick because, yk, dragons can fly, so my hc for side effects for God Slayers and Demon Slayers were along the same lines

God Slayers being wide open space or flying since Gods are like the epitome of freedom? all knowing and have complete reign over everything, But claustrophobia works so much better for that same reason. It would cause extreme panic and rash decisions

And Demon Slayers was the dark because demons are supposed to be these evil creatures who thrive in the dark n stuff? basically it would send a Demon Slayer into a paranoid spiral.

But sweets being a weakness instead is such a silly thing that im gonna take it and run

Gray never cared for sweets in the first place, gave him a stomachache, but now he has to walk away from Erza mid conversation if she decides to indulge, which is almost everyday. She was absolutely heartbroken and devastated when the weakness was revealed, it was such a dramatic reaction one wouod think she was the one with the new weakness

When Gray pokes fun at Natsus motion sickness he’ll go on about how Gray is gonna have the lamest parties since he cant handle even the smell of sweets, especially cake.

A terrible realization for everyone involved with him, on par with when Gray realized he wouldnt be able to have ice cream comfortably again, thats like a staple for ice mages

updated these since the old ones were from 2020. not much is different, erased with white a bunch of options to make it easier to look at for me, changed some minor numbers that dont rly matter bc its not that easy to put those numbers down anyway.

i adjusted junis brother a bit focusing on just how hes like at the moment of having been rescued to jorvik, rather than thinking about his potential "real personality" if he was able to heal and become a more developed person instead of just full of trauma. i do want to eventually do something with the concept of what if he healed, or what if he hadnt been abandoned in pandoria to begin with? if hes intj like me (his behaviour is based on how i am when im completely broken down, which sadly has happened a lot in my life) then what would it be like to see him healthy and happy? its stuff id like to think about more eventually

also filled in that juni is enfj. back then i wasnt so sure what parts of her were different than me, over time i developed it and she really clearly became enfj. we both share high Ni aka my dominant function as intj but her dom Fe plays into the whole constantly being in contact w ppl thing - im also very caring and loyal, and i genuinely want to save everyone on earth and want everyone to be healthy and happy. i want society to be fixed (and ive got the ideas) and i want ppl to be kind and loving to each other. me and juni share that. but for me, i cant really handle talking to normies much bc their reality is just too different than mine. juni has no problem socialising with anyone, even if she ofc also has ppl shes the closest to and others who she might not get along with as much, its still easy for her bc Fe just has that harmonising feelings thing with others that i dont have (and being a dominant extrovert function, and not being ND, shes also not as exhausted by socialisation).

for me with low Fi i just dont really get much out of socialising for socialisations sake. its part of why i cant handle being on discord servers and stuff like that. i dont "vibe" with people in that way, i want to actually have interesting and intimate conversations and learn more about my friends, their backstory, their problems (can i help them?), their deep and genuine feelings (not stemming from copying others and peer pressure, group-think is extremely irrelevant to me and i dont view people differently if theyre supposedly in-group or out-group - im interested in everyone as an individual). for my whole life ive just been too different and for many reasons not been part of normie's society, so its just really alien to talk to normies. (as in, the abuse and isolation, the disability, the ptsd and depression, the queerness, and also just being intj, not really having a normal brain. i often wonder if the ppl who say bad things about mbti - besides the obvious "job and school mbti use is bad" yeah it is - have known what its like to just not be able to relate to almost anyone around you ever when it comes to personality. even online, even in a nerdy group, even in a place with ND people, even with queer people, even with disabled people, youre still different. you still cant relate. for me, finding out that im just a weird personality type was really important, and then i was able to study other ppl's personality types and now i actually get why people behave the way they do and why society functions the way it does for better or worse. which is a great thing to understand imo. the "omg mbti bad bc jobs and school and the tests are dumb" is one thing, but studying the functions and really truly diving into how other people function and how theyre different from you and how you all work and how the human history of the world has happened, is beautiful to me.)

as a low Fi person, with a focus on 1-on-1 connection rather than groups, i focus on talking intensely to the beloved weirdos on my computer, or posting my rambles and reading you guys rambles in return. u guys prob dont even realise, but for a lot of u, i remember like... u posting about ur job or school one time. what u posted about that u wanted to do or what ur upset about. i think about what ur ocs symbolise, why u write them that way, what part of ur personality and your lived experience, your feelings, makes u project this or that on characters. i think that a lot of ppl treat social media as a more shallow and "a drop in the ocean" type of thing, but for me, even ppl ive not talked to much on my dash, if youve been my mutual for some time, i think about you and remember things about you. if you post music i listen to it both to see if i might like the song but also bc im interested in what you like. i like learning things about people around me, the same way i like learning things about the world in general and spend obscene amounts of time studying and analysing the world both in its current and past. its an intj thing because its about my dominant Ni function, which loves analysing patterns and taking in information to process. but i dont mean that in a cold way, its an intimacy and friendship to me to learn things about you and understand you. not to "vibe" but to really know someone and see the puzzle pieces of their life. im very much about all the puzzle pieces that makes you You. im not saying its wrong to vibe and chill instead of analysing your mutuals like puzzles, just that this is something thats very different from how i am, and its been hard for me in life to relate to the way most people are.

idk if anyones reading this but some of you also prob noticed that i will pop out of nowhere and talk to you about some random thing you posted thats interesting to me, or send you a message of support if youre going through hard times. i remember when you posted that you were really sad and i notice that youre having a hard time when you post that youre sad again a month later. idk, its hard for me because im not always very emotional in a way that other people understand. i can come off as cold or quiet which in turn can come off as disinterested. but i just wanted to write it somewhere, to put out into the cosmos, that actually i care a lot about the little creatures on my dashboard and i hope that you notice even if my personality and behaviour is a bit different than what people are used to. people project mean things on me sometimes because im confident, for example, or because i stand up against things i think are harmful. because im not "loyal" if i tell a friend that theyre being rude, or im "rude" if im saying capitalism is bad. i can be projected as controlling (telling people "no" when theyre mean) or self-important (being confident in my skills and analysis) and other negative traits which is really unfair to do to someone just bc theyre different. to me i view everyone equally and i will tell off a friend if i have to, without meaning anything unkind by it. idk. ill stop rambling now bc its too much again (high Te will also do that) but i just have feelings and thoughts about that my beloved mutuals dont even know that theyre beloved and that my way of expressing myself is weird and its hard to live in society based around ppl who are very different than me in many ways. but learning mbti / jung functions was really great for me to feel understood and to understand others.

this is a long post talking about my ocs and my wip. feel free to skip!! i just want to get over my embarrassment of talking about them

ok so. to talk about my ocs first i need to talk about the world theyre in. this is still a nameless wip but for now im calling it 'through the mist' while i decide on a better name.

brief explanation about the world: its the modern world as we know, maybe a few years into the future, but its not very important because society and technology are still pretty much the same. the difference is that in this story, the earth was enveloped by a dark and mysterious mist that is invisible to most people. the origins of this mist is still unknown, but what is known is that: 1) it affects peoples health in the areas that the mist is the most dense, and the number of lung diseases and cancer has incresead ever since it appeared. 2) it has some type of dark magic to it. its essence creates demon-like creatures called spectrums (i still want to find a cooler name) that are unknown by most people, but they bring chaos to the world. you can read more about spectrums and understand them better here (please mind any grammar mistakes, it is still a rough draft!)

but there are special people in the world known as the Enlighted that not only can see the mist, but they are aware of the existence of the spectrums and are given special powers to fight them. most of these people are born like normal humans, and only when they grow up they start to realize that they are different and that theres something wrong in the world they live in. once they find out about their own powers, they are located by a institution called Lux Mundi, and they are recruited either to be a scientist and schollar that studies the mist and the spectrums, or to be a warrior and fight the spectrums.

there are three types of enlighted: the lumen (those who are born with paranormal abilities to help them fight the spectrums), the saltium (those who are born with advanced intellect and are able to understand the complexities behind the magic of the mist and the spectrums) and the granum (those who are both lumen and saltium at the same time. they are very rare.)

this is all you need to know to understand the ocs!! i wont say a lot abt their backstories here so to not make the post even longer but if you want to ask me anything about them, feel free!

btw all of these characters are brazilian and the story takes place in brazil bc well. im brazilian and it was easier this way.

1. Kaiki Vitorino, 17

she's our main girl! Kaiki was born Salvador, Bahia but moved to São Paulo with her mom when she was a kid. she and her mom were very close, but due to complications caused by a lung disease, she passed away three years prior to the story, and Kaiki had to move in with her aunt (who also lived in São Paulo). Kaiki is very kind and empathetic, she would never hurt a fly and puts other peoples feelings above her own (sometimes a little too much). she loves geology and has a cool rock collection. Kaiki is a lumen, and her powers are called 'Blessed be The Light', which is basically light manipulation. i won't dive in too deep about their powers here, but you can ask me if you want to!

2. Ayla Rodrigues, 17

Kaiki's best friend since childhood (and secretly love interest)! Ayla was born in São Paulo and met Kaiki in school. she has a very complicated family, which includes divorced parents and a dead younger sister, who died in a car accident with her dad when he was drunk driving. she doesn't speak to him anymore, and grief they dont know how to deal with has led her and her mom to a complicated relationship. Ayla is closed off, aloof and even arrogant to most people. When someone wins her heart however, she shows her more vulnerable side: she's a nerd, loves literature, music and cult movies, likes anime, and will do anything for her loved ones, especially Kaiki, who she is so in loved with is embarrassing. she is a lumen, and her powers are called 'Blesed be the Gravity', which is, you guessed! gravity manipulation.

3. Dandara Carvalho, 20

Born and raised at Lux Mundi, Dandara is the Head Trainer of the Lumen's division. Daughter of Eva Carvalho, supreme leader of Lux Mundi's instalations in Brazil, and Isaac Carvalho, Vice-Supreme and Head Counselour for the Saltium's division, Dara is the real deal: strong, disciplined, determined. she has been training since she was a kid, and her mom has always been very strict when it comes to this. Dara was trained by the old Head Trainer before her, an old man called Kaluanã. He was wise beyond this world, but after his passing at the old age of 80yo, Dara took over his functions. Eva wants Dara to be the next Supreme Leader, but all that she wants is to keep training and teaching other Lumens. They have a very strained relationship, but she gets along very well with her dad. Dara may seem intimidating, but she actually has a heart of gold: she's a dork who loves her friends to death and has a loud and weird laugh. she wont stand for injustice and is extremely reliable. shes also extremely, totally down bad for her girlfriend Yasmin. her powers are called 'Blessed be The Fire', but she also knows a lot of different martial arts.

4. Yasmin Senna

Yasmin may not be very impressive at first, but those who know her know that she is, in fact, a genius. Born and raised in São Paulo, Yasmin has always been the pride and joy of her family: as a kid, she was mostly quiet and kept to herself, didnt talk to other kids a lot and prefered to spend the day cracking her toys open to see how they worked. Her bad social skills and reclusion made her an easy target for bullying in elementary school – kids would take her toys away and mess with her all day long. this lead to a fatidic accident where one day she had a meltdown and unleashed her powers, 'Blessed be the Sound', a type of soundwave manipulation, and left everyone in the scene, including her, deaf. nowadays, yasmin uses hearing aids, but she has long ago gotten used to being deaf, and she doesnt mind her disability, but feels extremely guilt for the accident. she's the grandaughter of kaluanã, daras old mentor, but she had only know him as a kid before he moved to Lux Mundi. this is what made dara want to get closer to her at first, but then they feel in love. yasmin is extremely smart – in fact, she is a granum, but she refuses to use her powers, so she only works in the Saltium division.

5. Eric Senna, 19

Yasmin's twin brother, Eric is probably the only out of the Lux Squad that has decent social skills. He's charming, charismatic, funny, smart and has the world's biggest ego. Eric carries a lot of guilt over the bullying that happened with Yasmin, because he feels like he was too weak to protect his sister, so he has kind of become overprotective over her, even this kind of pisses Yasmin off (and Dandara too). he's one of those people that always act like they're the best, but deep down are their own worst enemy. he's talented, has a hundred different hobbies and speaks three languages. eric is always down for challenges and he loves to prank people. he has a cat and dog relationship with Dandara: they're always fighting and bickering, but they truly care for each other a lot. Eric is a lumen and extremely insecure about his powers – 'Blessed be the Thunder', electricity/lightining manipulation – because no matter how much he trains, his powers doesn't seem to get stronger.

the premise of orv swap au (name has yet to be finalized) is this: what if kdj and yjh swapped narrative positions (reader <-> character) but very little else? what if a video game player enters a time loop to save his favorite character from dying over and over again and also to end the apocalypse?

admittedly it's not super fleshed out yet (a lot of the changes this premise would introduce are still not hammered out yet) but here are some points under the cut (novel spoilers ahead!)

orv swap au starts with pro gamer yjh who feels :/ abt his job, but hey, it pays the bills. despite (or maybe because of) his relative popularity as a pro gamer and networking with the agency/sponsors/people to impress, he's kind of isolated in a way that's detrimental, a facade of someone he's not whenever he's on camera

something to play around with is the idea of agency? maybe this yjh doesn't feel like he has any and has his hands tied between the lifestyle and being under public scrutiny and not having enough of a support system to leave everything behind. maybe he doesn't know what else he would even do. maybe he's aimless and drifting with nothing to hold on to.

his favorite video game is what i've been thinking of as World's Hardest To Play Indie Game (not based on difficulty but just on the experience of consuming it) a boring, exposition heavy, player-hostile, poorly designed, slightly buggy mess of a barely-playable game: twsa, a game that was not finished upon release and experiences with sporadic updates every now and then.

the ending tree to this game is so convoluted its insane. also theres no save states so if you die (very likely) u restart babeyyy.

twsa (video game) does have multiple endings, all of which happen when kdj, your main character, dies. some are farther into the apocolypse than others, some paths require meta knowledge of future events or character actions or items or whatever. the "true ending" is either analogous to the original 1863: kdj makes it to the end at the cost of everyone he loves, or hsy's modified 1863: kdj makes himself enemy of the scenario to secure a way out for the kimcom remnants.

there's branches on the choices tree where everyone dies and everything sucks and is bad forever and theres choices to make where kdj gets to make a family and they don't really get to settle down but they can get pretty close to it among the ruins of the apocalypse. through all his testing, yjh finds that these endings are nice but peter out - to get to the end of the apocalypse yjh has to claw his way there inch by painful inch, through betrayal and sacrifice, and he still cant fully get past it

i originally wanted to finagle a yoohankim 3 way swap but i couldn't figure it out. swap aus are a lot easier to work with when they're even numbers, at least to me, so this au features a ysa who is a video game company employee by day and by night she really has become god this time (and also a terrible indie dev). and this is how jungdoksang can still win !!!!

also yjh's coworker from Real Life hsy :) i haven't decided if she's like an employee for the same agency, or if she's someone else in the gaming circles that yjh interacts with sometimes (in my heart theyre in like some sort of discord server together), or something like that but she's around. whatever she does she is twitter cancelled for something. to me.

the only other character swaps are lsk and yma. yma is yjh's estranged sister (in broad strokes there's a vague bad parent situation going on here) (they used to be close until they drifted apart and slowly started hating each other [there is an abyss between them that neither of them can bridge]) (he feels that she betrayed him and threw him under the bus so he left [maybe he gets kicked out]) (she feels that he abandoned her to whatever situation they have going on [he didn't even try to take her with him]) and he has to find her when the apocalypse starts. yjh older sibling to yma gives us a whole different little dynamic to explore from kdj ysk (there's different levels of responsibility and guilt and blame when you're talking siblings that are soooooo interesting to me. sorry that i see any set of siblings and immediately try to figure out how to make them worse)

lsk is kdj's mom who appeared into existence at some point with kdj and they were both just adults. that's weird isn't it. oh well. i guess she can become a transcendent later too for funsies

everyone else stays in the same configuration of Real Person vs Character to me this is a very important aspect

this point has no precedent with the swap, nothing particular that would change to cause this, but it would be so funny if lgy was a little gamer boy who is an avid yjh hater. hates that guy. shows up to competitions to boo him. tunes into yjh's silent no-mic speedrunning streams to mald in chat but yjh +mods don't ban him bc its kinda funny.

anyways the apocalypse starts when yjh and his coworker/fellow gamer hsy are on a train to twitchcon and lgy is also there (also headed to twitchcon) and he brings bugs because he likes them but also to sabotage yjh specifically. its just funny if this happened. you understand

instead of having reader-related skills and abilities, yjh's skills are video game player based! he gets flavor text insight on people, location, and items, things like that. notably, he has the ability to reset, to bring himself back to the beginning of the apocalypse

orv swap proper follows yjh as the Player of the Game (Consumer of the Narrative) who lives hundred of lifetimes in this ruined-world-become-reality "replaying" [read: time looping through] the game to reshape it to save his fave character from self implosion (kdj with no dissociation is very prone to dying. all the time.). to revisit the idea of playing with yjh and the idea of agency, of creation, the only way to get past the apocalypse is to go off the beaten path, to choose options that weren't even there in the game. when in space, at his darkest point, yjh becomes a writer. in this story, at his darkest point, he has to become a creator too

please do not ask me how the epilogues go i dont know how the epilogues go (i don't want to throw yjh back into a train for milennia after he Just went through a thousand resets so i'm sending kdj for that but i havent fully planned how or why)

Clocktower campgain:

Descriptions:

Each of the houses have a faint red light (street light kind of thing) that light up when it starts to get dark. Drcide when that is

Have a special currency that they can use to skip hours at some point once you've progressed to a certain point

Opening narration: "Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock. You look up to see a clocktower looming over you, the numbers in roman numerals and the hands steadily ticking along. The clock pannel glows with a warm orange in the dark of the night. The clock reads midnight. At the top of the clocktower there is a purple orb, the light from both the clock and the orb lighting up the surrounding area just enough to see. Youre in the center of an abbandonned town, behind you a building. What do you do?"

Unlock: every 4 houses completed unlocks a new level/floor of the clocktower

Lvl1: double the noting space for every player

Lvl2: time speeds up

Lvl3: ability to use the currency to skip time

Lvl4: boss fight

The town is split into four quadrents/streets: The quarter past quadrent, The half past quadrent, The half to quadrent, The quarter to quadrent. There are signs outside of each with the name on it. This is to make it easier for the players to tell me where they want to go

Puzzles:

There is a button in the room, on the other end of the town there is a matching one, maybe colour coded. The party has to split up and press it at the same time

One room has a code that applies for another. The party has to memories this code because if the numbers are written down, they fade away as if there was nothing there

A room has a lock. Its coloured but they have a few coloured keys. Depending in their perception, they get the right colour. If its bad, then they need to keep trying more keys and the hour might end before they unlock it

Have two or three locations where in one, only a specific skill that only one of the players have is needed, then have them both interchangable so that the person needed is always in the wrong space, and has to make their way over there. Maybe put something blocking their way, maybe something theyre weak to, that they need the ithers to clear out like a sort of escort mission

Two houses that unlock at the same hour, but at am and pm, their contents switch places to the other one

Pieces that form a riddle, so when they get all the pieces, they try to figure out an order and then solve it

One room has a puzzle specially designed to take too long for the hour, and every time they come back it resets. In the previous hour's house, there is a secret tubnel that can lead to it meaning they have an extra hour to figure it out, or the tunnel is in a shed so they have acces to it 24/7. Maybe that is also where one of the buttons is that needs to be pressed at the same time. The button is always easily visible (like through a too tiny window) but both cannot be accesed at the same hour. However, when they find the tunnel, they now have access to it meaning they are able to go to the ither house at its hour and then this one using the tunnel and press it at the same time. The key is actually a shovel (can be changed for fic reasons), but the whole town in concrete floor, so they go to the park to dig down and find the tunnel

Have a diary that has a riddle or a code hidden in words that ends up with maybe a number code or something, but its a red herring to waste time and make them miss a few hours

Boss fight:

Phase 1 in the clocktower, once they get the health down to zero, the monster screams, and rewinds time for just themselves, the party watches in horror as you see the clock hands winding backwards, accelerating. The boss has regained it's health and explodes the clocktower. Phase two is in the streets of the town, with all of the house doors locked and a force field around the park and sheds so you cant go in them

Dnd playablity stuff that you dont need for a fic:

Cover parts of the map with paper that they incover as they go along. Have post it notes or paper with blu tac that they can stick on the houses to label the time

Dont tell them how many rounds an hour lasts, they need to figure that out themselves

After two levels of the clocktower, narrate the ticking sound, then go faster, and say the amount of rounds for an hour is less now

The players can make notes if they want

To press the button at the same time, people on both sides need to roll a d20, if they roll within 5 of eachother, they are succesful, of not, maybe time runs out or something, idk

Depending on their intellegence or wisdom roll at the start, that is how much lined paper they have to note on. One piece of info on each line. Maybe after the first layer of the clocktower is unlocked, they all get another a4 or a5 sheet to write on (e.g. they roll a 1 and get 2 lines to write on, roll a 2 and get 4 lines and so on)

The players can roll perception checks to see how much health an enemy has. On the final boss, if they check, lower they cant tell, middle they see the health, high they can feel a sort of reserve of power underneathe. Have that like a gradient for whatever they roll

lore dump about the sailor trio because i keep thinking about how they met lovart, sorry for no read more im on mobile ajfjwjwkhash

skagen is such a rude little shithead to people he doesnt know yet. mostly its because he thinks its so difficult to get to know new people to the point where he often thinks its easier to keep them on arms length from him by being rude or not talking at all

he grew up with solvei so that was never a problem between them, they know each other better than themselves sometimes. solvei can always tell what skagen is thinking and vice versa; they work together really well thanks to this

when they first met lovart skagen was prickly and grumpy as always, but he quickly warmed up to him when he noticed they actually have a lot in common and lovart wasnt pushing him into getting to know him

and while solvei was cheerful and sweet as ever and took lovart's phone number just in case they would need his help again, skagen didnt do it and lovart didnt offer it because he figured skagen wasnt interested in keeping contact anyways.

UNTIL the little green haired loser turns up at his workshop again with another torn sail, asking for help with it and staying for a little while. lovart offered him fika (coffee, pastries and a casual chat) and skagen hesitated but decided it could be worth a try.

which it was, because he quickly grew completely enamoured by lovart's mannerisms and the way he talked about his work and life in general. others might find the way lovart talks (quiet, a bit slow, hesitates a lot and stumbles on his words, sighs A LOT) annoying or frustrating but skagen finds it incredibly endearing

and when skagen heads home again, lovart texts solvei something like "i thought your brother hated me, but he even stayed for fika. i fixed your sail again, it should be fine but if it breaks again i'll fix it for free"

solvei of course thinks thats very funny because 1) skagen and solvei arent siblings but she thinks its funny that others assume so and 2) "oh my god is skagen willingly getting to know a new person?? i should call the press"

this turns into skagen using förutan vind to blast his sails with wind until they break, bringing them over to lovart just to hang out more, and lovart poorly fixing the sails in order to have skagen return with them again. he does it all for free because of course, and they both are very aware of what theyre doing. its all very silly, and sometimes skagen brings over clothes that have torn apart and lovart gladly helps him fix them as well.

solvei follows along a few times but quickly leaves them alone because she sees right through their silly charade

at some point during all of their silly meetups about the sails it turns into skagen and lovart cooking dinner together one afternoon and they both end up confessing their feelings for each other, and while lovart is fixing with the food and has his back turned to him, skagen quickly gets his phone out to text solvei like "sol i think i have a boyfriend" and she immediately responds "YOU JUST NOW REALISED?? well im happy for the both of you, can you stop destroying our sails now PLEASE"

some notes from my experience gradually becoming more involved with the world immediately around me

(as someone who never got involved in a social life or communities of any sort as a kid and moved a lot and now lives in the middle of nowhere)

taking walks lets me see the houses close to mine and what sort of things they come with (sports team merch, outdoors equipment, political signs, food gardens, etc.)

it also lets me see resources around me. i wouldnt know that there was an open community garden and a storage center just down the street without lookin around on walks

(you can also look around while driving! less time to ruminate but still some)

my state's PBS channel does a ton of local news and documentary coverage! theyre available for free online! its a good place to start

newspapers can be hard to keep up with and also sad if theyre as political as the one here, but they still have relevant stuff

my town and the closest city both have websites, and event newsletters! like, by email!

sometimes things you have zero interest in on their own can be important in your community. .....specifically, im talking about sports. a lot of people like sports by their own right and thats great for them but personally i have never been able to give a shit. ESPECIALLY high school sports (or school spirit in general), which happens to be pretty much The Biggest Thing in a whooole lot of american communities. im currently learning that you can engage a little in the high school sports scene without meaningfully caring the vast majority of the time! ...i havent quite figured out HOW yet, but i know its possible. step one is small talk when people say something about the teams, i guess. or superficially saying you hope Local Team wins State or whatever. the community involvement can be more fun than the actual sport! i spent a lot of words on this one but its a big one to me idk

browsing little stores is one of my favorites. even if you dont actually care what theyre selling. just walking around, making small talk with the employees/owner if youre able to, stuff like that

see if there just happens to be what you want. i have a bad habit of just ASSUMING that they dont have anything here. "i live in the middle of nowhere, of course theres no food not bombs division / punk scene / parkour studio / improv theater" ... its worth actually checking lol. like, recently i learned that theres... well, ok, theres no public transportation. but theres this shuttle service that works between a couple stops a few hours a week thats KINDA like public transportation!

talk to people. its so hard its so hard if you have autism or social anxiety or no practice or a lot of fears or all of the above (hi) and im also sure youve heard it a million times but its usually worth trying

use cash if youre shopping locally. idk it keeps the community independent or whatever. also keeping cash on you is a good habit, since youre gonna want to be giving buskers and homeless people and such money whenever possible. and thats waaay easier with cash.

bank locally? and other such... necessary expenses. if possible! as everything tends toward monopolization its hard to have control over who does your banking or electricity or insurance or what have you. im lucky to live in montana, basically the only state where independent banks thrive. still, worth looking around and seeing what you can do

......i really cant overstate the power of the websites (town chamber of commerce website, local news station website, local radio station website) and newspapers as hubs for finding more stuff. a lot of the time, theyll have little 2 sentence blurbs that tell you that something exists, and then you can look that thing up on its own and maybe find a phone number or a mailing list.

last one ok i havent tried this one out on my own bc im scared (reminder that this is not an instructional post this is an observation of my own experience) but i have a theory that dating apps are a good place to find people your age in your area. they might be upset that youre trying to connect with them as acquaintances on a service literally meant for romance, but... well, they dont exactly have anything like it for friends. (nothing mainstream enough to actually work, anyway.)

i think that it's a little strange how they wanted to make tatum the s1 leighton and tried to villainise her but then accidentally wrote her to be a little too nice to leighton earlier. had she been just a little bitchier or that they showed another scene of her not being too nice, it wouldve come across better and we wouldnt have this wtf? moment. im not sure if you're familiar with the show, but another tweet pointed out how accidentally likeable tatum is and compared the reactions to her (assumed) departure to how the reactions were to penelope from legacies (the tvd spinoff). and that kind of hit the nail on the head for me. i think it doesnt help that gracie dzienny pulls off that "mean top bitch you would root for" so well. maybe they shouldve watched her in first kill 😂

i just wonder how theyre gonna write leighton and alicia now since they sort of used up quite a bit of plot they couldve used for s3. and considering midori is on greys now, i wouldnt be surprised if they had to rip them apart just to accommodate any potential scheduling conflicts. it just feels like they shot themselves in the foot here a little. had they not write off tatum so quickly, they couldve given themselves space just in case that happens as well.

it all just feel like wasted opportunities. youre right in saying its easier for us to sit back, judge it and think we couldve done better after they already finished the job. especially considering how volatile the fate of hbo's projects are right now. but it just feels so wasted because the show already had a good chunk of people loving it and it also naturally grew this season. it couldve just been so much better, but of course we dont know what went on behind the scenes.

not that i dont deeply love the show, i really do and i get really excited every week. but if this happens again next season, then it'll just a little painful to watch subsequently because all i'll think of is how it couldve been better. and thats saying a lot considering its already quite a great show.

I’m really just missing the nuance from how Tatum was written. I mean, there is a way to have her be as supportive as she was and for her to still, ultimately, be someone who reminds Leighton too much of a version of herself she wants to change. But to pull that out of their asses and toss Tatum aside despite all the good qualities she’d been given, nah that ain’t it.

But in that sense I’m not sure Tatum was accidentally likeable. I think they cast Gracie for a reason, surely, a reason beyond that she kinda resembles Reneé Rapp. I do think the creators put enough thought into it to consider that Tatum would inevitably be likeable to many and I don’t think the intention ever was to completely villainize her. Nor would that be a good story. It’s just... there’s such a disconnect between her first three episodes and how easily she’s discarded. Once again I can only say that it was lazy writing and that’s what I find upsetting.

I’m just curious to see how Leighton’s journey continues, and I do hope they put more weight behind her social awakening in season 3. There is the question of how she can continue being with Alicia when Midori might not be available for as much as a love interest of a main character should be, but really I just care about Leighton. If they write Alicia out in episode one I am gonna be upset ngl lmao because then what was the reason? Ah well, we’ll see. I take comfort in the show’s apparently good numbers and that it was renewed for season 3 so quickly. But one can never know in today’s fragile streaming market and especially with HBO Max and their bullshit so I hope the show doesn’t alienate its audience in season 3. I fear the season 2 finale might have done some damage; valid or not is another matter, but yeah it’s tricky with audiences nowadays. But also, like you say, it is a great show and I enjoyed season 2 very much despite my criticisms, and I just wish for the pacing and other adjacent issues to improve in season 3. I feel like by the third season a series should be mature enough to have that stuff figured out.

i was writing out my process in the tags, but i decided it would be more helpful to actually lay it out here with links. i understand some of us have really busy lives and are overwhelmed by the number of aid requests we have in our inboxes. if you want to make it easier on yourself--

here are some super simple steps to go through so you can help at least a few people.

get on your computer. open your tumblr inbox in one tab, then these five google sheets pages in other tabs: Vetted Gaza Evacuation List, Operation Olive Branch, Project Watermelon Gaza Family Spreadsheet, The ButterflyEffect Project, B&W Campaigns. These are each carefully organized spreadsheets of vetted fundraisers, by either established vetters on tumblr or elsewhere or by trusted organizations.

in your tumblr inbox, every ask from a palestinian will usually have either a link to their GFM, a link to the post with their story and GFM, or a request to visit their blog to view such a post. open their GFM page, crosscheck the names and the title of the GFM with your spreadsheets with a quick command f. often, a post will specify which person or org vetted them, so you can go straight to that spreadsheet to double check.

great work! you've confirmed the ask you received is real. you can respond to it, you can donate to the gfm if you like or can afford to, you can reblog the post sharing their story. the whole process usually takes about five minutes max per ask.

here are some extra steps that will take longer, if you have the time and want to double check an ask you weren't able to find on a spreadsheet, or determine if something is spam so you can delete it.

go through the person's blog and the reblogs on their post. sometimes a vetter like 90-ghost will have simply reblogged and signal boosted the post, verifying they vetted it, but it will not have made it onto one of the spreadsheets.

the more you do this, the more you'll come to recognize the names of trusted vetters, and be able to accomplish this checking more quickly. be careful, because sometimes a post will claim "has been vetted by so-and-so," and when you go to that persons profile they'll say "not personally vetting posts." that doesnt mean the ask you got is spam––it might mean that the person who made the post didnt realize when they were signal boosted by an active pro-palestine blogger that it wasnt the same as being vetted. most of these are real. you don't have to share those you can't verify, but don't automatically condemn them as spam. if you're unsure, just delete them out of your inbox and move on.

if you have email alerts turned on for your asks, and are a person who mostly receives asks from palestinians these days (certainly true for me), you can search your email easier than your tumblr inbox to identify people that have changed their usernames multiple times but sent the same ask, or asks youve received from the same username with various GFMs or names attached. these are most likely to be spam, and if you can identify the accounts doing this pretty easily you can then clear a bunch of fake asks out of your inbox at once to focus on the ones that need help. this kind of checking is tedious, but useful

to avoid burnout: most of us want to help as much as we can, but being burned out on tragedy is real. its better to help a little than to ignore it entirely. if you cant manage to work through your asks, you can ignore your inbox, and just pick a couple fundraisers off of the vetted spreadsheets to donate a few bucks to when you can. personally, instead of trying to check them all as they come in, i try to put aside an hour every week or every few days to go through as many of the asks in my inbox as i can. you can also try to verify just one each day instead of spending large chunks of time going through GFMs and personal stories. you can reblog posts from friends who have already checked the fundraisers theyre sharing, or posts of "daily vetted fundraisers." you dont have to share what ways you're helping, or how big or how small it is, if you dont want to. mutual aid isn't a competition. but even a little assistance to a few families is better than feeling so overwhelmed by the magnitude of the genocide that you dont help at all.

There's this really cool thing that a handful of diaspora Palestinians have committed a lot of time and effort to called vetting (maybe you've heard of it?) in which they speak directly with a fundraiser holder face-to-face or over phone/video call to verify all portions of a fundraiser. There are so many posts [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] that talk about the details of this process to verify that a fundraiser organizer, recipient, and the details are correct by verifying legal documents like proof of residence, photo ID, fluency in Palestinian-Dialect Arabic, family tree constructions, etc.

These vetters have been posting about Palestinian/Gaza/Arab culture/Islam/etc. for a really long time, [1] [2] [3] (these are Wayback machine links to the tumblr accounts of 90-ghost, el-shab-hussein, & nabulsi before you start crying "but, you can post backdate on tumblr!") [4] (moayesh's Instagram because his tumblr is fairly new) meaning that they didn't just pop up after Oct 2023 to start posing as a qualified individual. They are real diaspora Palestinians with stories to tell and culture to share.

GFM also has strict requirements for withdrawing money, needing evidence of a bank account from a country they service and a solid way to transfer funds from that bank account to the recipient's bank account. If the funds are withheld from the intended recipient, that can be reported to and resolved by GFM.

If you're too overwhelmed by trying to distinguish between scams and real fundraisers, then whatever. That's your problem, not everyone else's. You don't need to publicly announce to everyone that you're too busy/tired/incompetent/ignorant to properly investigate fundraisers, so everyone else should stop supporting them as well. There are plenty of vetters and scam-busting blogs dedicated to helping people distinguish between real and fake.

Donating to established nonprofit aid organizations is absolutely a good deed and is much more straightforward, but it's not the only way to help. Especially with the repeated aid blockages, sometimes Ghazan families need a more direct flow of money to pay for the ridiculously inflated cost necessities (I recently received a video from Farah wherein she states that a bottle of dish soap cost $50. $50!!!!) as well as save up for evacuation costs once the Egyptian border crossing opens. (Thousands of dollars!)

so far i believe everyone who’s said they don’t have an ideal type because they’re all around the same age and with how often they travel they world (and with how young they started) i think it’s genuinely possible they haven’t narrowed down what their “type” is.

with all of that, i’m also pretty sure there’s probably a significant number of idols who haven’t had romantic experiences (especially these new waves of idols in 4th/5th gen who are used to having their entire life history be on the internet or able to be dug up). it aligns with some generational problems (ie. loneliness epidemic), so i don’t think it’s hard to believe personally.

nda’s usually talk about the person signing it not revealing any information about what they’re with a celebrity for (ie. beyoncè uses ndas with people she does collabs with to be sure nothing about the collab is leaked before it’s fully released). i think often they’re only “valid” for an extended length of time, but some of them can be life long i think. in the US, celebs are known to have someone on their team like a manager or something keep ndas on them in order to hand them out to someone/people as needed - not totally sure how that works in the kpop industry though of course.

yeah idk what to do. im genuinely feeling like taking this promotion was a mistake. yeah i earn more, but only like 1.50 more but i feel like i have twice if not triple the work. it would be easier if they would just fucking hire another person like they used to do instead of shoving all the work onto me and another manager who's also definitely feeling it too on top of their other duties as a manager. theyre not suppose to do that work fulltime, theyre suppose to HELP do it when needed. but i straight up dont have time to do BOTH so theyre forced to pick up the slack that upper management FORCED onto me LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER PROMOTION and didnt bother asking if I was okay with taking it. we had to ask a different manager to help us and guess what! that person is also suppose to help the OTHER parts of the store at the same time! so by helping us we're increasing THEIR workload too! like. i know i can't keep this up. back to school was so fucking stressful. and holiday shopping isn't making it any easier because we have some of the most fucking messiest and laziest customers ever but now theres more of them making messes.

and ofc not even getting into the fact that i can feel stagnation bc i dont do anything but work and go home, where i have no energy to much even on my days off. i wanna learn blender so i can get the fuck out of this job but i dont even have the energy to do that. whether its physical or mental or both idk anymore. i wanna have friends irl and hang out with people. cause i dont even talk to ppl online cause ppl find me boring. ive interacted with enough ppl to know thats how they see me so im not just being negative out of nowhere. when u stream and nobody comes in, but any number of other people in the server come in and suddenly there's like 6+ people? yeah no the problem is me.

Hey babe 😚 it’s your fave, but I’m posting anon bc I’m a little embarrassed for this one, but I stepped on a scale for the first time in over three years a week or so ago and it read 181 lbs. as someone who has had a constant struggle with her weight and a complicated relationship with food… this hurt. Especially since I have finally gotten to a point where I’m able to live with how I look, APPRECIATE how I look and take pride in it… the numbers hurt. I don’t want to start spiraling again and it’s really hard. I guess I’m just asking for some love and support from my favorite girl ❤️‍🩹

Your feelings are completely valid as well as the numbers you see on the scale. Theyre both normal and ok. But I know it's easier said than done because your relationship with weight (and food) can be the most mind altering and life changing relationship you can ever have, especially if your weight (or eating habits) isnt in the socially acceptable range even if that's what's healthy for you. Overtime it can easily become one of the things you measure your value with bc its what most people do to you. So coming to the realisation that its not the case and finding peace in your body can be difficult. Trust me I understand you so well and im not saying this just for sympathy, I've been there multiple times as well so I know what it can be like. But you were able to find how to appreciate and like your body and your appearance, which isnt something many people can do as body dysmorphia is heavily promoted in society. I want you to know that you've succeeded with the most difficult part. This can only mean that you can find the same appreciation again so please don't give up. If you spiral, you spiral, experiencing such lows are also important to find peace both with yourself and the others. Just make sure you dont go through them alone. I might have rambled a little but what I'm trying to say is, although accepting who and what you are can be the most challenging thing a human can do, its not impossible and it's just human experience to go through them. Don't beat yourself up and don't feel like you have to fit into social norms. above all, i think it needs to be understood that biting is a means of communication. not all cats have the same vocabulary and not all bites have the same context.

bites can mean a lot of things depending on the cat and the situation: "stop," "pay attention to me!" "im overstimulated," "youre hurting me," "hi :)" "hey are u food???" "you are Toy now :)" etc.

kittens, kinda like human babies, really like to Explore things with their mouths, so its pretty common for them to chomp during play, especially if theyre very young or were separated from their littermates too early. kittens are still learning Cat Etiquette, and a lot of that is learned through play.

a lot of negative behavior like biting is unknowingly reinforced by owners (of all experience levels), ive found. if your cat bites you during play and you dont IMMEDIATELY end the play session, theyll think its okay to bite while playing. if they bite you when they want your attention and you respond by giving them what they want, theyre gonna learn that biting works and do it more. again though, every cat is different. a bitey cat is not automatically Your Fault.

overstimulation is another huge reason cats bite. i feel like a massive amount of "the cat bit me out of NOWHERE!" situations are really just someone failing to notice the signs of an overstimulated cat during activities such as petting. every cat is different, but some warning signs are: increased/"lashing" motion in the tail, lip licking, suddenly stiffening up a little, movement getting more "jerky," ears subtly going back, placing a paw/foot on your hand, etc. its easier to detect as you get to know a cat as an individual.

every cat has a different "bite threshold" too. some cats will let you do just about anything and still not bite (shoutout to all the family cats out there living with small children. most patient mfs on earth), others will skip all the nuance and go straight to biting the second theyve had enough.

the cats that go straight to biting are often the ones who are used to their other attempts to communicate being ignored. after all, why waste time with asking politely if people only seem to listen when you get violent? this still does NOT necessarily mean the cat is in an abusive situation though! you as an outsider dont know the full story. you dont know the cats history. dont jump to conclusions!

and, of course, cats may bite when theyre in pain... but it may not necessarily even be the person being bit who's causing the pain! a sick cat is going to act avoidant and will be more likely to bite if cornered. if a cat has arthritis/etc, it may bite if you accidentally touch a tender spot on their body, etc.

cats dont have words to tell us what theyre feeling. they cant say "stop" or "im bored" or "my leg hurts," so they have to find ways to communicate their feelings in a different way. sometimes this means biting! but a bite alone cant tell you whats going on. look at the body language. look at the context.

if you dont "speak cat" well (or at all), dont be afraid to ask somebody to "translate" for you before jumping to conclusions. you cant accurately assume what somebody means in a language you dont understand.

and when you do see well-meaning people making innocent mistakes... be kind. we have so many words we can use to communicate with each other. theres no need for you to start with biting.

Some people on this website wholeheartedly believe a cat will only try to bite its’ owner if it’s under traumatizing levels of stress.

i do think i understand what theyre trying to foreshadow w the whole event. the caretaker fumbling for the bit in the wake of the first dreamer/artist of the realm. their preconceived plans were all that was left in their presumed death, plastered on the walls, reimagined and reconstructed and misappropriated by those they left behind (theres the wavering possibility that something else had killed them, perhaps monsters, perhaps the realm itself). the denizens of the realm being lost and only finding purpose at the arrival of the outlanders who had offered aid

its the same formula so far, which is not making me optimistic for whats to come in fontaine. im just hoping that the main players are significant in this sense. that the hydro eidolons represent the lochfolk and that the artist was the hydro archon, that idyeia is furina and that the ones with her are the current officials in fontaine.

But it is oft-said that heroes who live too long, live to become the evil dragon.

And when many stories cross paths, perhaps one side's hero is another side's dragon.

The tale that finally emerges will trend toward narratives that are easier to grasp — which is why heroes are heroes, and not evil dragons.

That is why, for all their strength and schemes, the evil dragons will ultimately be defeated by the heroes wielding their holy swords.

it would be a cool twist for once. bc the traveler has saved cities from dragons, saved a city from a god, saved a god from her city. like, theres only so many ways this could go. when is the traveler ever gonna be public enemy number 1 and MEAN it?

and besides, considering that the overarching themes on the outlanders’ side is centered on themes of reconciliation with past goals and family, wouldnt it be so cool if fontaine is where the traveler finally sees what the abyss twin’s point was?
