Emilia for the asky thingy??

EMILIA :D i have so many thoughts on her (i will however preface this by saying emilia is one of my favorite characters of all time <3) so this is probably gonna veer into vaguely meta/analysis territory and it will be Long. (also i love ur emilia icon HAH) anyway without further ado...

Sexuality Headcanon: BI ACE. if not bi ace how come she has the color palette..???? that and i simply think emisuba are bi4bi fr fr. and more specifically i think emilia is demisexual!!

Gender Headcanon: ok so.... this one got unexpectedly long but T^T i do think that emilias relationship with femininity and her gender and her biological sex could be explored given she looks exactly like satella, and then theres puck's slight sexist remarks sometimes, and also her. apparently not knowing where babies come from. and like??? do half elves get periods?? how'd puck explain that one??? that and i do think the idea of trans emilia would be very interessting to explore yes (though i do think trans ftm or nonbinary emilia would be more interesting in terms of like. emilia is moving away from satella, but emilia would probably think about if that makes emilia themself a coward for doing so. but also i think id be eviscerated by 90% of the fandom if i explored those ideas in depth T^T). and like... in general, emilia's Whole Character is characterized by a loss of control over a lot of things in her life across so many routes in rezero. :((( which is not 100% specific to gender and biological sex of course but it could factor in a bit. because theres also. well. the implication that she probably was gonna be (trigger warning) a sex slave if that dude who tried to enslave her in frozen bonds succeeded. her whole character is all about being seen as Not Human by others, or being seen as an object, or being controlled, being infantilized, etc etc :(( which is sometimes by the narrative, sometimes by other characters, sometimes by tappei, and also sometimes by the fandom itself.

A ship I have with said character: emisuba 100%, even if i have some mixed feelings on it as of rn. like they are THE main ship of the series, and theyve been through all these ups and downs together. like subaru's earnest desire and determination to help her and save her Is Admirable, though of course he does go right into Obsession and Possessive Feelings, which was Brutally Rebuked in arc 3 and very well-written (though of course i hate some people's small brain takes on emisuba and emilia and arc 3 T^TT). like i LOVE seeing different sides to emilia and while subaru brings out her sweetness (she is SO SOFT with him... she DOES care about him so much!!!!) he's also brought out her rage and despair in arcs 3 and 4. kiss of death loop / greed if emilia is like giving subaru exactly what he wanted before - an emilia that only has eyes for Him. and Only Him. but it's all wrong T^TT and then theres like. all the other ifs too where emilias either dead or Generally Mentally Unwell - she of course has that distinct lack of control in wrath and pride if over a lot of things :((

though like. i LOVE emisuba's parallels - they were very lonely people, are connected by satella breathing down their necks (metaphorical or literal), and i think their personalities just click well together!! T^T that and like. theyre capable of bringing out either the best or the worst in each other, along with all the layers of what rbd does to their relationship (like. subaru dying way too many times to save her. puck killing subaru and the whole world bc of her death. emilia being unaware about rbd and the witch cult at first and how her previous parent figures are Now Archbishops. satellas involvement. and the question of does subarus rbd take away free will from other people when he can just reset? and the Loads of guilt emilia is gonna feel about this. etc etc.) all of which i think is fascinating.

and like. i love how they dont get together right away after arc 4. like it makes SENSE to me i dont get those people who complain that they didnt start dating and then they point fingers at emilia for not reciprocating. like they Clearly Like Like each other, you just get the sense that theyre saving more of a romantic pursuit for later, u know? and it makes sense to me!! like speaking as someone with some Serious Romantic Relationship experience - yeah going from friendship to like overt romance and then actually maintaining your relationship can be Very Tricky. especially when both emilia and subaru are mentally ill and not completely prepared for it bc there is just. different expectations. and theyve never been in a romantic relationship before. and theres also like All Their Trauma that they havent fully addressed or gotten over at all. like NEITHER of them are fully prepared yet and theres all the chaos of arcs 5-8 happening so theres no time to go right into that stuff right now either. and i love that tappei did that. and tbh i think all the people who think emisuba shouldve been in a romantic relationship post arc 4 are Media Illiterate. like guys. it is completely fine and Healthy for emisuba to take their time with pursuing a romantic relationship with each other. they LITERALLY have all the time in the world.

HOWEVER. tappei stop infantilizing emilia im so tired T^TT like all the stuff about how she doesnt know what sex is and all that.... and it almost feels like her not 100% knowing what romantic love is is kind of framed in the same way as her not knowing sex??? like the whole thing about emilia being pure and innocent (derogatory) - tappei pls im so tired T^TT it just feels like to me, arcs 3 and 4 did all this work of debunking the idea that emilia is this perfect angel who can do no wrong. she is Human. with flaws. and desires. and then tappei refuses to stop making her clueless about stuff like politics T^T let her develop!! bc by the time we get to arc 8 its like. it feels like emilia Still hasnt been through nearly as much development as subaru so narratively speaking they still feel unequal. like i know we had to focus on other people in arcs 5 and 6 and 7 and we still got some great emilia moments. but Still. like i do feel like emilia should have had a little more involvement starting from ARC 2 from the get go. like yes she already has her Moments. but like id love to see her be way more active in the plot, or at least see a bit more glimpses into her mental state. (which i think is partly whats added to some audiences missing the point and preferring rem over emilia and then all the rem vs emilia wars that have happened.) and she NEEDS development very badly. while its not impossible At All to be in a healthy relationship when both parties have a lot of trauma, even if one has more trauma than the other, its still like. narratively speaking emisuba is unbalanced. subarus had So Much Development and it feels like emilia is left by the wayside despite being like. the deuteragonist and female lead of the entire story? T^T it just feels like subarus allowed to be way more messy and human while emilia its like. shes not Allowed to be as messy and human despite the fact that arcs 3-4 was meant to showcase this. it just feels like it doesnt continue enough in later arcs. it feels like tappei just doesnt want to let emilia be more flawed T^T and by flawed i mean. flawed in a way that isnt just making her look very Stupid to Certain Audiences sometimes.

anywayyy this section is way too long but special shoutout to ramilia and reinhard/emilia. i think those ships have the potential to be very sweet or very unhinged. and i like the parallels that each ship has. and big shoutout to Canon Ramilia moments (them holding hands in season two of the anime. and also ramilia hugging in arc 8 ch14 <3). and i do think reinhard/emilia would be interesting in pride if particularly given how they both end up.....

A BROTP I have with said character: SPECIAL SHOUTOUT TO ANNEROSE AND EMILIA i love annerose's little crush on emilia and annerose's "emily" nickname (which emilia later uses as an alias in arcs 7-8). yes i do interpret annerose's crush as romantic in nature. but also iirc annerose was the one that taught emilia that babies come from kissing. which i absolutely Despise because GOD TAPPEI why are u having a nine year old teach a seventeen year old this........... BUT OTHER THAN THAT i love the annerose-emilia dynamic and the absolute sass annerose gives subaru. i think annerose and petra are super funny bc they have crushes on emilia and subaru respectively and then their little kid brains explode bc emisuba are so cute and lovey dovey together right in front of them. i think theyre hilarious.

A NOTP I have with said character: literally like..... almost any fanon version of emisuba. or like emisuba but emilia never finds out about rbd. thatd be my worst nightmare. like T^TT please. please no. like i know emilias a fictional character but the way people talk about her sometimes Literally makes me ill (metaphorical). like if you talk about a fictional person like that, how are you acting with real people...

A random headcanon: SHES FERAL. SHES FERAL. I THINK SHES SO CAPABLE OF BEING FERAL AND TAPPEI SHOULD JUST LET HER GO HAYWIRE. like. she was like what. like nine or smth. and she KILLED pandora a shit ton of times. and then theres emilias greed if self being absolutely Batshit like imagine the amount of times shes frozen everything and killed people in failed loops??? T^T like. let her go off tbh. i want her DRENCHED in blood. i think she should snap. have a little carrie moment.

General Opinion over said character: i LOVE EMILIA WITH MY WHOLE HEART. but i do think she deserves a lot better :(( both in terms of writing and in terms of. how shes seen by so much of the fandom. like both in and out of universe shes blamed for things out of her control. she barely knows shit about the witch cult. she has no idea about rbd. shes dealing with her own trauma regarding lying and others sacrificing herself for her (remember whats happened to fortuna and petelgeuse and archie? T^T) and hurting others on accident. shes been so dehumanized and lonely and alone that seeing someone like subaru care so much about her is Completely Foreign to her. hes like in pain and sticking his neck out So Much for her and its like??? shes got no say in that either hah... T^T like i feel like sometimes people forget that subaru made the choice to follow emilia. there are literal routes in this story where subaru does not follow emilia and has a better life (usually at the cost of. a lot of people dying though). hes chosen to follow emilia over and over again. emilia tries her best with the cards she's been dealt, and she has no control over all of these higher forces trying to destroy her for one reason or another. and with her upbringing its like T^T being told what to do and who you are and generally being Spoken Over your whole life does not make you remotely confident or competent at much. it teaches you helplessness. and that youre useless on your own. which is what i think has been happening with emilia T^T i just think its sad that even how audiences see her reflects how the rest of the world in universe sees her. like she is a victim here also. she is DOOMED by the narrative all the time as well. and post-arc 4, too, she IS MORE ACTIVE and also trying her best!!! pls!!! (special shoutout to her and the emilia camp IMMEDIATELY going "yes we NEED to get to subaru quickly LETS GO TO VOLLACHIA" in arc 7.) people forget all of this and blame her for every little thing instead.

and ALSO shes a great character!!! i adore her!!! she has EVEN MORE potential for further development!!!! and with how subarus been dealt with the quadruple whammy of arcs 5-8 happening LITERALLY back to back in the same time span... and the insane levels of trauma in arcs 6-7 ALONE, subaru is in desperate need of a break. and emilia is in desperate need of development and i am tired of tappei putting her on a pedestal in his mind. tappei pls i want to see emilia being challenged and going through insane subaru levels of development T^T

adhd lifehack: roomba

and like i know i know theyre expensive but i hadnt vacuumed for over six months (because adhd) and then i spent $179.99 on black friday last year and in exchage i got a little robot hockey puck (her name is birdy because she chirps) who every tuesday, thursday, and sunday wanders around my studio apartment and bumps into walls and eats all the cat hair and hay and rabbit poop and all i have to do is rescue her if she gets trapped by horrors beyond her comprehension (the bench with mirrored legs) and clean out her compartment (easy it just pops out and i dump it in the trash).

no longer do i get paralyzed by the Cleaning Terrors of "oh my floor is gross im a failure of an adult i have to clean it but in order to clean it i have to move furniture and then deal with the vacuum and go over spots and it takes so long i cant but im a failure of an adult i cant do anything else cleaning because of how bad my floor is"

my floor is clean, it's nice to walk on, all the other adulting cleanliness tasks become so much easier because the elephant in the room has been taken out back and shot by a tiny robot maid with a gun

thinkin about..... justin law again..... like i have for the past literal decade and counting....

im still mad about the soul eater manga for many reasons but one of them one of the big reasons is justin law

because on the surface yeah it's "the creepy hyperviolent religion obsessed weirdo who is out of touch with social and even religious norms picks a new god and goes off the rails" concept which is fine it fits the soul eater vibe it's even got echos of asura's fall from grace

and yeah "he went insane because he neglected to form the proper weapon-meister social bond" is fitting for soul eater as well and really hammers in the difference between justin (who in the series is presented as someone who could not be saved) and stein (whose bonds are what make him someone the series decides should be saved)

and okay fine "he attacked and decapitated the one friend he had, the only person who tried to reach out to him" does hammer that in. (though tbh tezca is. bad. thats not a friend)

and yes it's a shonen series with a huge emphasis on bonds so it's genre appropriate that the adults stand around and go "this teenager cannot be saved because he failed to form friendships and so no one cares about him enough to go after him"

one problem

and that problem is very very simple and very very obvious and very very baked into justin law's entire character

and it's the problem of his weapon form.

because justin law is a guillotine.

because ohkubo made it extremely clear that justin physically cannot have a meister.

because the entire message of "you need to have friends and you need people around you who understand you" falls completely apart when the character used by the author as the example was designed by the author to be physically incapable of forming the bonds every other character has and excuse me ohkubo you're telling me what? he thought this was clever? he thought going "im going to make a character who cannot form a meister-weapon bond and play him up as cool for fighting solo and make him go evil to really bring it home that you need friends" was a clever idea? it's ohkubo so probably

but actually ohkubo just made a character who was physically barred from forming proper relationships with others, and then had every responsible adult in this character's life look at him and by the time he was thirteen go "not only is this good that he's socially isolated and doesn't have a life partner like everyone else does by this age, we should give him a role in our organization where he works solo all the time. this is a good idea. this will not backfire on anyone involved in any way." and by the time he was seventeen the adults went "if only he had made proper social bonds he would have someone who cared enough to save him from getting his soul clownjacked by an incarnation of the god of madness"

and it is almost 2023 and ohkubo stopped writing soul eater in 2013 (and stopped caring about the series in like idk 2010 at the latest) and i am still thinking too much about this asshole teenage sadist who according to the manga got exactly what he deserved but really deserved so much better

What are your favourite headcanons about Santana’s life/ career / future family??

Same with Mercedes and Sam.

OOOH OKAY. HM. idk what the big broad headcanons are so im mostly gonna use my own

so ive talked about this before, but i think santana and puck were definitely childhood friends and grew up in the same neighborhood. santana always alludes to lima heights adjacent, and when i imagine that, i think of a place like where i used to live where everybody lives in houses with white siding and concrete front steps and rickety screen doors and a/c window units with the occasional walk up apartment building. thats immediately what i think of. and i think she grew up with her dad and her mother in her life, but since her dad wasnt at her wedding, i would say that something happened to him between s3 and 6, probably divorce for messy reasons or something to that effect. so she knows her dad and grew up with him, but theyre probably not that close anymore.

in terms of career, i love what old dogs, new tricks did in making her a publicist. thats so ridiculously apt it fits her character so well!!!! of course shes great at cultivating an image, she did it to survive in high school and she was good at it. and shes ruthless, which is exactly what you need in a publicist/manager.

future family i honestly wouldnt jump to thinking she would have kids. like maybe she would want them? but i would more assume she'd rather be the double income lesbian wine aunts with brittany and spoil all her friends' kids rotten and teach them swear words. obviously she loves these kids to bits but i cant see her having kids of her own, nor do i think brittany would necessarily want them either

MERCEDES! lets get into this

her dads a DENTIST! that means that miss thing is probably fairly well off and lives in a nice house thats big enough for her and her parents and brother (and then eventually quinn). she had no qualms about inviting quinn so i assume its big enough to accommodate them all, clean, and well decorated. she also seems like the type to have a pool or hot tub and she would invite all her friends over as often as possible. personally i also think that she and kurt would love to bake together

in terms of career shes gonna be a big recording artist. no more to it. shes gonna be the fuckin princess of r&b and pop and everyone will love her to bits. its what she deserves! and i think oftentimes when one of her friends films a movie she'd contribute a song to the soundtrack

future family.... WARNING SAMCEDES ALERT i think she and sam get married and sam is a stay at home dad (still with a job tho i will get to that in a sec) and they have a couple kids that auntie santana and uncle kurt spoil rotten. i think she would try and involve her kids and sam in her work as much as possible bc she loves themmmmm

SAM SAM SAM. so i think sam wouldve grown up in a fairly nice neighborhood, but as his parents lost money and they had to move around he wound up living in a similar place to santana (taking inspiration from when santana says the line "youre the only person who would remind her of lima heights"). ive talked about this before but to me sam is very much a family oriented guy and will do anything to provide for them and i think hes an ace at cooking with whatevers available because of it. he can make a microwave/immediate dinner into something really tasty with some herbs and garlic and such just bc he had to make sure his siblings ate

CAREER!!! i think he'd be a comics artist!!!!! he loves his comics hes good at art (macaroni kurt anyone) and he would get to see all the new storylines immediately!!!! and it would let him work on a schedule more suited to him bc i know my boy has adhd and will work when his brain damn well lets him

and for future? see above re: mercedes. stay at home dad, loves his kids and his wife, himbo material supreme. i love him so much

Virgil has a habit of letting out a really exasperated “UGH” every time he experiences so much as a Tiny Inconvenience, so you’ll sometimes catch Logan dropping an “UGH” of his own when he messes up the tape on his Goalie Paddle or struggles to dig a puck out from where it’s gotten trapped in the corner of the net

Virgil attempts to keep his Millenial Death Humor on the Down-Low when he’s with the team (because some of the jokes are rightfully upsetting for Patton), but when Virgil and Logan are alone in the apartment, it isn’t uncommon to hear an exchange somewhere along the lines of “you know what sounds really great right now?” “death?” “lmao yeah”

Virgil sometimes talks to inanimate objects around the apartment (i.e. “ow! you bitch!” when the coffee machine burns him or “oh shit sorry” when he bumps into the doorframe), so Logan -- after a good year and a half -- has Likewise made the occasional comment to things that are Very Much Not Sentient; (though, to be fair, Logan thanked his goal posts for saves even before he moved in with Virgil, so perhaps some of this is his own natural tendencies shining through)

i’ve mentioned that Logan unconsciously slouches when chilling with Virgil (who is a proud member of the #BadPostureSquad), but other Bad Habits that Logan has found himself adopting and consequently trying to suppress include biting his nails and picking polish off of them after getting them painted

also, eating ice was,,, not a thing that Logan did before living with Virgil, but -- seeing that ice is one of Virgil’s Favorite Snacks to Crunch On -- Logan inevitably ended up munching on it as well

when in their apartment, Virgil uses mugs for Every Drink -- be it coffee, tea, alcohol, water, soda, or otherwise. after a valiant half a year of using actual cups, Logan eventually succumbed to the trend. (besides, it’s not like he drinks much besides coffee or water anyway)

• And the other team is getting salty

• hence a team wide fight begins

• And Akaashi is immediately feeling uneasy as he watches the fans start to stir the pot too

• And suddenly a girl in the stands grabs your hockey stick and she hits you with it

• Akaashi is lunging foward and Bokuto is right behind him

• It takes you 0.000089 seconds to turn around and climb over the wall, immediately going for her

• Two men are trying to hold you back but they're quickly pulled off as other members of the team follow suit

• "the pretty boy with the green eyes and the owl are mine!" You yell to your teammates

• They confirm and you watch the girl run (try to anyway) up the steps of the stands and your right behind her

• He knew practices were tough

• But he didnt know about the fights that often happen during hockey games

• And he's watching with a smile as you do your thing

• And the game progresses and he's got a drink and he's munching on popcorn

• completely mesmerized by the game

• He thinks the game is incredible all on it's own

• It's tough

• you're against elements

• Skating is hard

• He didn't thi k it was hard until you took him to a rink and the two of you practices and he fell on his ass so many times

• his butt was bruised for weeks

• And you've got pucks that HURT when they hit you

• all in all you have to be tough

• but his eyes always drift back to you

• just in time too

• He watches the person on the other team, swing their hockey stick and hit you in the back of the legs

• He's immediately standing

• His drink forgotten as it fell to the floor

• "H-Hey!"

• His heart falls and he sees you stand up

• But from how it looked, the way you fell /must've/ hurt.

• Your team seems to take no mercy on the other player before you can get up

• It did seem that you laid a good punch in

• A few good punches based on how they fell back

• But you were lost in the swarm of players

• And he can see (vaguely hear) that despite your coaches pleading, you're still going to play the rest of the game.

• He has the urge to flick you

• when the game finally ends (your team wins)

• you're off the ice first, looking up to flash iwa a smile, one he clearly knew was pained.

• He's outside the Locker room waiting for you

• But then he hesitantly admits that it was cool to zeesee but you still should've stopped playing

quinn fabray

okay miranda dont hate me but quinn is honestly one of my least favorite characters. i think they had an okay thing going with her in the beginning, when she was the pregnant cheerleader who gained strength through her found family (and the scene where she gets kicked out of her house by her dad is one of my favorite scenes in the whole show). but her writing was just awful, and i feel like they re-did and un-did her progress over and over to the point where we werent supposed to know what to think about her. she is just so inconsistent as a character, and thats what i hate. they gave her the pregnancy plotline, which was such a powerful and moving staple of the first season, and we watched her find self acceptance as an outcast. but then they throw all that newfound self acceptance out the window when they make her join and re-join the cheerios again and again in a desperate attempt to regain her popularity and social status. they give her a disability plotline just to have her walking again after just a few episodes, and never mention it again; ive ranted about this in an ask about glee and ableism before, but the fact that they treated her car accident and subsequent injury as a throwaway plot that did not affect her character at all just shows that quinn was like,, their test dummy for random things they wanted to write into the show and then completely discard. and then her appearances in s4-s6 were so random and sporadic, like when she visits rachel just to shame her out of filming a topless scene, and the time she used her role as kittys mentor to yell at jake for *checks smudged writing on hand* being related to puck. and then how she didnt appear at all in the quarterback episode, or go to brittanas wedding. they were so off and inconsistent with quinn, which is a shame bc in the beginning she looked like such a promising character with real depth.

i know a lot of the fandom loves quinn, and i wouldnt take that away from anyone (esp wlw who have crushes on her and/or see her as bi), but she is just not it for me.

i am such a jyrus bitch. i will be jyrus trash until the end of time. ive accepted that tyrus is canon, and im not mad at people for shipping/being happy about it. but jyrus!!! deserved!!! better!!! im so hurt

as someone who ran a very thorough and detailed andi mack blog back during season 1 of the show when jyrus was all speculation and we were just overanalyzing crumbs that were thrown our way by the show, i will never get over them. the way their friendship evolved from blind adoration to mutual trust and admiration. the way they supported and affirmed each other and built each other up!!! im gonna CRY they were so pure and so good and the show threw it away in like. two sentences.

the andi mack fandom spans such a wide age range, and if ive noticed any trends at all, its generally that people in their early to mid teens seem very obsessed with tyrus, and thats great for them that theyve found some canon representation that way. but ive noticed that the trend with the older crowd is mostly still jyrus, and im wondering what thats about? if i had the platform and the motivation i would love to conduct some sort of survey study of the andi mack fandoms demographics vs their opinions on certain parts of the show bc ive noticed a few of these types of divides tbh?

hsmtmts beauty and the beast

honestly just what the fuck. as someone who has devoted way too much time to this show, i understand its shortcomings. in general its more gimmicky and promotional than substantial or well written. disney put this trash out into the world and i accepted it and said thank you.

so when they announced that s2 would be beauty and the beast, i was annoyed but not surprised. its clear that they were only using hsm as a grab for viewers based off of nostalgia, but there were SO many other movies they couldve used. i would sell my entire soul to see them take on teen beach movie! they couldve at least picked a dcom!!!

the thing that bugs me the most about it though is that they didnt even bother to watch their own show and preserve continuity. theres a scene early in episode two where nini literally says that they did beauty and the beast in ninth grade (last year, bc nini is a sophomore!) and that she played a fork. why would the school do beauty and the beast two years in a row? theyre gonna have to dodge canon to justify it in s2 and just hope nobody notices.

ok heres a little rant? thingy? i guess?? idk anyways lets get to the point

so i just like a minute ago finished listening to the album home, like noplace there is by the hotelier and like.. its amazing. its really fucking good. sounds like movements, sorority noise, tiny moving parts, bands like that. lyrical content is A+, melodies are the shit, instrumental stuff is all perfect, album cover is really fuckin nice. 

and its when i listen to bands like this and albums like this that i feel like some bands are really honestly producing crap nowadays. like how can some people be Proud of the stuff that they produce?? 2017 as an example:

sorority noise released “you’re not as ___ as you think”. work of fucking art. so emotional, so driven, so well done, and so moving. good shit. knuckle puck released “shapeshifter”. stuck to their sound, i like all the tracks a TON except for twist but that’s just me. 

thenn theres bands like sleeping with sirens and all time low releasing music and not to say that last young renegade was BAD, which it totally WASNT at all, but it and albums like gossip (like wtf sws. actually. what the fuck), pvris’ new album (idfk the name its too long), the front bottoms’ new album, and even neck deep’s new album seem to fall so short and feel not as genuine or well thought out. 

and this isn’t to say that the only genre of music i’ll stick to is the weird indie rock / pop punk / emo shit that sorority noise and the hotelier put out. paramore’s new record fuckin slaps and it doesn’t sound at allll like the bands i just mentioned. the maine, have mercy, you me at six, andrew mcmahon in the wilderness, and even brand new put out some really amazing albums that definitely impacted me. 

so i guess im just sort of thinking out on tumblr here but these days i feel like some bands keep putting consistent effort into their sound and coming up with really really good meaningful songs while others dont know what the hell theyre doing anymore. heres to better music in 2018.

right now, in late january ill just mention albums im looking forward to / hope come out? im most excited for beartooth i guess, and then twy, real friends, state champs, the wombats, and hopeefullly mayday parade will release something. so yeah. just my thoughts.

and they're put on a line together and theyre both sorta pissed about it. but then they start practising and its like. they're Lighting it up

christen probably gets a hatrick in the team scrimmage, and tobin probably assists on every single one of her goals

and they're just sort of. standing there in the middle of the ice like. oh for fucksa-

but then they go back to the league and they know each others plays now

there is a part of them that wants to pass to the other, because the way they play together makes more sense than anything else

but its still competition and its still rivalry so when Tobin intercepts a pass from Christen and scores on it they're still gonna go back to the locker room and bitch to the media about it

they'll still tell everyone that they can't stand the other

but maybe, when they were in the middle of the ice, when Tobin was heading back to the bench after her goal, and christen was moving to take the next faceoff, they catch each others eye

and maybe they don't say anything, or really even make an expression that a commentators could read into but somehow both of them know

they know, easily, that as much as they're mad, beneath that there is a point of pride, a well done, now watch this.
