Technically a Cult

So! Danny has been hearing through the Grapevine that a large Cult has been Summoning all the biggest Magical Creature's for some reason. Demon Lord's, Fae Kings, even a few Gods. Clockwork was summoned a little while ago, and so was Fright Knight and Pandora

And he has been patiently waiting his turn for a while. Apparently everyone they summon has gotten a really good deal from them, all in return for a few favors, sometimes a promise to not go to a specific place.

Danny really wants to strike a deal with them. He wants to ask them for a favor so he can get out of work for a few weeks, he's been planning on taking a vacation with Sam and Tuck, but the Eyeballs are being annoyingly resistant.

He feels the familiar pull of Summoning, and realizes that it's time. Awesome, time to meet this mysterious Cult!

Well I think this was probably not long after the war (someone did a time-line and I think it was like 3 or 4 years?) so I think it's possible that they just haven't seen each other in person a lot?

Because like, they met during/before the war, and we're separated by the war. Then after that they were briefly reunited at the victory celebrations, and the various events that happened afterwards.

But considering that during much of the time prior to NMJ's death they would both have been very busy - LXC with rebuilding his sect after the war and JGY with trying to please his dad, organizing apparently every event the Jin held, and making sure Xue Yang has enough enrichment in his enclosure, I think we can maybe surmise that they haven't actually spent a lot of time physically together where they were both private and had enough time that LXC would whip out a quqin and play for him.

Additionally, the quqin isn't Lan Xichen's primary instrument, he mainly plays the xiao. So it's entirely plausible that while JGY has heard him playing the xiao, the opportunity to hear his quqin just never came up.

The fact that the quqin is not LXC's primary instrument also adds an amusing layer to the conversation where JGY could be sort of subtextually saying 'damn, and this isn't even the one he's good at, rip me 😭'

So first of all, let me start by saying that JGY & LXC knew each other for far longer than Wangxian knew each other, or even WWX & the Jiang siblings were together. (Cloud recesses got burnt down and LXC went on the run when LWJ was around 17. At the time of the events of the Guanyin Temple LWJ was around 34. In the CQL, LXC & JGY first saw each other (& developed a huge crush at first sight) when LWJ was 15, and at the end of the story LWJ was 36) so all that talk of "LXC being too naive and blind for trusting JGY & thinking that he knows him"? Or hating him for defending his savior, supporter, and friend of 17/20 years? No. Wrong. Enough of that.

Now getting to the main point, IDK exactly when that teacher/student roleplay of them takes place but it must be shortly before NMJ's qi deviaton. Which is well into Xiyao's relationship. So my question is if these two have only now heard each others' guqin playing as is implied by these lines:

Jin GuangYao laughed, "Well, now that I've heard Brother's guqin skills, I might as well smash my guqin the moment I get home."

Lan XiChen, "Your skills are also considered quite fine outside of Gusu. Were they taught by your mother?"

Jin GuangYao, "No. I taught myself by watching others. She never taught me such things. She only taught me reading and writing, and bought a handful of expensive sword and cultivation guides for me to practice."

And they only now talked about JGY's family history with Meng Shi, and with how when telling his parents' story to WWX LXC talks like he hasn't talked with anyone about this story before, then wtf have Xiyao talked about all those years?!
