We seem to be back in the “dnd sucks why don’t you just play Other Games (yours)” and I have a single question for you in return

Do I get to roll a d20?

Because I like the d20

That shape pleases me

I do not wish to roll a random amount of d6s or d8s or any of them other fuckers

I wish to roll the d20 because icosahedrons please me

I will also accept d12 but the other shapes all have less mouthfeel so if that’s what your game’s based on, it is not for me

I’d also prefer more than four stats but I’m not gonna lie it is the shape of the math rocks so like

I had a post a while ago about making sure your dnd character WANTS to be an adventurer a while ago, something else I’ve been thinking about is the importance of making a dnd character that WANTS to be in a group and have some sort of relationship with other PCs. the Group Nature of ttrpgs means lone wolves just aren’t feasible. if you really want to play a lone wolf or antisocial character at the beginning then I highly recommend telling your dm and the others players that you plan on forming bonds along the way and growing out of that mindset. otherwise why are you playing dnd, a group activity that involves cooperation and building relationships? Just Write A Book if you don’t wanna be in a group

I was so caught up in the flood of Astarion content in every other companion‘s tags that I forgot that straight cis gamer guys play bg3 and therefore the conventionally attractive white girl (save me white girl save me) in the group is the most romanced by players

It’s the way that Mike and Will both think of queerness and what it would mean if they could be together as something that’s “childish,” “naive,” “something of the past,” “failing to grow up” etc. and they equate heterosexuality and following the norm with becoming adults and doing what is expected of them. They think being together is a thing of the past and something no longer in reach for them as adults. I’m just waiting for them to realize that their love is not something they’ll have to leave behind but something that will evolve alongside them into adulthood. 🤧🤧 Like, them just realizing that it isn’t too good to be true. They actually get to have each other. “Growing up” does not require them to abandon the love they have.

still can’t get over the fact that casey is a part of saga’s family. not even just a workplace friendship—he cooks and cleans at her house on birthdays, logan jokes around him, he’s softer around her, his survival is essential to saga

i’m realizing that one of my favorite ways to create a character is by first establishing a major flaw of theirs and then examining how that will inevitably fuck them up a bit. then fleshing them out from there

Obviously, DnD characters are wish fulfillment and lots of people don’t want to address the slow senescence of the vulnerable human form in their fun games. That being said, narratively, I do think that levels should probably fluctuate over the course of a lifetime. The level twenty world-saver is going not going to stay level twenty into their old age—that’s not how athletes and retirement work! Wisdom and Charisma casters maybe, but your STR/CON/DEX builds are going to soften with age. They might still be the spryest bastards in the old people tai chi group, but “terrifyingly in shape 70 year old” is not the same as “deadliest man on the planet”. Drop those old folks a few levels, give them some creaky bones and presbyopia. It’s good for them, promise.

I've been thinking of dnd and HTP recently so the two have now combined into this anon

What would htp main four (jimmy, tango, bravo, and timmy)'s dnd classes be?

I personally think that the most obvious one would be Tango as a barbarian cause you've mentioned before that he has quite a bit of rage, though I'd feel like he'd be multiclassed due his adversion to his more rage-y side. What this other class would be? I have no idea, perhaps artificer?

Jimmy is a bit harder to nail down but i think he has the vibes of a paladin for me, don't ask me why it's just the vibes. (Though he could also be a wholesome warlock due to his supernaturally eyeball'd friends)

Timmy would 100% be a wizard, mostly because of the stereotype of being very physically weak, though if he had a choice I think he would want to be a cleric because of the appeal of the heal-y aspect

Bravo has the vibes of a warlock but the arrogant "daddy's money" attitude of a sorcerer imo, blud has a major superiority complex and we all love-hate him for it.

(I just realized that i rambled to you, under the impression that you know what dnd is- if you have no idea what im talking about im so sorry anyways have a good day :D)

would u believe i was discussing this exact thing w some friends the other day (not HTP specifically, just life series)

and would u believe i had tango as an artificer and jimmy as a paladin (tho not a super skilled one) 😂 great minds think alike. and i love the idea of barbarian, perhaps in a HTP-like setting tango would multi-class as artificer after escaping whatever prison realm hels is. oh, and he’d def be a tiefling. cuz come on. it’d also make for great contrast if jimmy was an avariel.

i hadn’t thought abt it for bravo and timmy tho, for some reason they’re harder to pin down for me?? i see what u mean abt wizards but i’m not sure if timmy would be scholarly enough for that. i almost wonder if he’d be any class at all or if he’d be just Some Guy. yknow, didn’t actually study/train any magic or combat? real NPC vibes. then i guess part of his arc would be deciding to get over his learned helplessness and become an adventurer, and in that instance, cleric all the way.

as for bravo, a sorcerer would DEF lend itself nicely to his superiority complex… believing that simply because he was born with a certain lineage that he’s destined to be this big hero and allowing him not to think too deeply into his own actions and prejudices bc ‘he’s the good guy.’ LOVE that for him. jimmy is gonna kick his ass.

maybe someday a semblance of an actual plot for this setting will come to me and i can flesh out the idea a bit more but that’s what i’ve got for now 💃

Full body Grant doodle >:D. The Grants are taking over oh no— Did you know the cool looking knife he has in a couple promotional artworks is an actual specific type of knife? I looked it up and the closest match is a Polish bandit knife, which is a type of knife that has a lot of variation in shape but always has a distinct curve downward towards the end, it’s pretty cool!

Some of the only Alucard doodles on this page alas, there wasn’t anymore room for more of him (T_T ). I like depicting him with shorter hair in CV3, it mixes his CV3 and SotN designs really nicely. I also think it’s funny making his outfit kinda Kid Dracula inspired lol. I’m pretty sure there is one CV3 concept art that has some similar elements augh it’s been a while since I’ve looked up CV3 Alucard arts. There’s also one Sypha doodle here too :3.

The next two are based on a couple like draw your ship memes I ran into, the second is specifically based off of that one “hot yaoi base” lmaoooooo. Anyway, I love Sypha she’s so cool. I need to draw her more often, I have too many design ideas aaaaa—
